alpha2117
WWE Royal Rumble 2020 – Houston Texas - Part 1 Pre- Show RAW & SMACKDOWN Tag hype The Hardy Boys defeated The Revival to retain the SMACKDOWN Tag Titles by Disqualification – A good quality match saw Scott Dawson disqualified when he tried to hit a low blow on Jeff Hardy whilst Dash Wilder was distracting the referee John Cone. The usually unobservant referee saw the action and called for the bell. RAW & SMACKDOWN Womens & Womens Tag hype Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn defeated MNM to retain the RAW Tag Titles – Another god match saw Sami Zayn get the win after he nailed John Morrison with a Helluva Kick. IC & US Hype – Royal Rumble hype Braun Strowman retained the Intercontinental title over Sheamus – another decent short bout saw Braun hit a Running Chokelsam to get the win over Sheamus. Royal Rumble proper begins with hype for the WWE, Universal matches. Stephanie, Shane & Regal hype the Royal rumble matches. Daniel Bryan confronts Conor McGregor – they argue. McGregor wants a match at Wrestlemania and Daniel Bryan agrees. 1: Asuka defeated Becky Lynch to win the RAW Womens title when Ronda Rousey distracted Becky – A fast paced back and forth womens title match saw Becky Lynch eventually start to get on top and be on the verge of retaining her title until Ronda Rousey’s music hit. Becky became distracted looking around as Ronda appeared on stage. Asuka nailed Becky flush with a Spin Kick whilst she looked up at Ronda and followed up with a pin to win the RAW womens title. Ronda Rousey smiled and headed to the back. 2: Stacy Keibler defeated Alexa Bliss to retain the SMACKDOWN Womens title – If you look up the definition of eye-candy in an illustrated dicitionary you will find a picture of this match. Both women are good looking and they know how to work a crowd. Alexa Bliss looked likely to regain her title as she headed up to the top turnbuckle only for Stacy to regain her feet whilst Alexa was climbing and hit Alexa with a Keibler Kick sending Alexa crashing to the mat and easy prey for the pin. Just had to check the Calendar again … yep its 2020 and Stacy Keibler is SMACKDOWN Womens champ …. Viva La Womens Evolution! 3: Cesaro wins the the 24/7 title from The Miz – A good fast paced bout saw the Swiss Superman dethrone 24/7 title holder The Miz. Cesaro was always on top when a wrestling match was allowed to break out but The Miz did everything he could to prevent that constantly trying to void mixing it up with the superior technician. Eventually Cesaro nailed Miz with a Very European Uppercut and followed that up with a Neutralizer for the pin. 4: The IIconics retain the Womens Tag titles over the Beautiful People – Angel Williams can actually work but lets face it Velvet Sky makes Peyton & Billie look like Lance Storm and Dean Malenko in ring. This was only ever going to be an old school Diva match but what made it interesting was the fact that both teams cheated like contestants on one of those reality dating shows where they stick a bunch of pretty vacuous people on an tropical island. It was actually really fun seeing all 4 women trying so hard to cheat to win, somewhere Jesse Ventura is smiling happily. That Billie Kay got the win over Angel with a roll-up and a handful of tights came as no surprise 5: 2nd City Saints def Lethal Warriors – So six months ago if you went to a bookmaker and put some money on CM Punk, Colt Cabana and Jay Lethal all being in a tag match at WWE’s Royal Rumble I am guessing you would have got some pretty good odds. That the match would be a 4 star banger was less doubtful given the quality of the talent involved. This was genuinely so much fun to watch that I found myself just smiling with joy. Given Punk is already scheduled to be in a singles title match at Wrestlemania it was unlikely for him to lose here and he nailed Lethal with the GTS for the victory. 6: Womens Rumble Mickie James was number 1 and then number 2 was announced and it was the first surprise entrant NXTOz’s Madison Eagles. This allowed the match to get of to a really strong start as they got two of their strongest in-ring workers in the ring straight away. Number 3 was another surprise entry Cheerleader Melissa who has been tagging with Madison in NXTOz. The two women double teamed Mickie. At 4 was Natalya who decided to side with Mickie for an enjoyable 4 women sequence. They have front loaded the rumble with quality workers. Carmella was number 5 and headed somewhat cautiously to the ring. All 4 women who were already in the ring looked at each other and ganged up on Carmella as soon as she entered. Mickie James sent her out before number 6 had even been announced. Mickie James eliminated Carmella As Carmella hit the floor Dana Brooke was announced at number 6. Dana and Carmella passed each other and Carmella clearly mouthed be careful to her sometimes tag partner. No amount of caution was going to save Dana though as the 4 women in the ring had seemed to come to an understanding and as soon as she entered she was set upon. Dana put up a decent fight and was still in ring when number 7 was announced Bayley. Bayley hit the ring and realised she needed to be smart so immediately joined in on the Dana beat-down to try to take any heat off herself. Natalya eventually sent Dana to the floor. Natalya eliminated Dana Brooke Moments later number 8 was announced and it was Sasha Banks. The 4 women in ring early turned on Bayley before Sasha made it to the ring trying to avoid having both Horsewomen team up. Sasha made the save and they brawled until number 9 was announced Charlotte Flair. The three Horsewomen soon teamed up against the 4 ladies who had come into the match at slots 1 through 4. Number 10 – Zelina Vega. Zelina entered the ring as stealthily as she could but was soon in big trouble as Madison Eagles found herself without someone to match up with. Eagles towers over Zelina and it was a complete miss-match which saw Zelina eliminated before number 11 had been announced. Madison Eagles eliminates Zelina Vega Number 11 – Meiko Satomura. Fans of womens wrestling would have been happy looking at a ring and seeing Meiko, Natalya, Mickie, Madison, Melissa, Bayley, Sasha and Charlotte all battling it out. Rumbles don't always allow people to show their skills to the max but there was a lot of quality in that ring at that moment. And then number 12 was announced – Mandy Rose. Rose made it into the ring and was lucky in that Meiko and Madison had already started to brawl meaning all 8 women were already in the midst of personal battles allowing her to avoid the fates of Carmella, Dana and Zelina. Mandy decided to join Melissa in her battle with Charlotte and try to get one of the biggest threats out of the match. Number 13 – Marina Shafir. The first of the MMA horsewomen hit the rign and went straight for Bayley. The ring was really filling up when number 14 was announced – Jessamyn Duke meaning there were now 2 MMA horsewomen and 3 of the 4 Horsewomen in the match. Jessamyn joined Marina and they tried to get Bayley out. Sasha broke free of Natalya and managed to make the save and the 3 Horsewomen backed themselves into a corner to mount a concerted defence. Number 15 – Shayna Baszler – anyone would think that the order of entry was pre-determined as a 3rd MMA Horsewoman joined her fellows. Ironically the two teams of Horsewomen found themselves in opposite corners of the ring under seige by the other women in the match who realised leaving powerful teams like this in play would be a big mistake. Number 16 – Sonya Deville. The ring is now pretty full with 13 women all battling. The two groups of Horsewomen are camped in two corners under siege by the others. Number 17 – Kairi Sane. Just as Kairi reaches the ring Charlotte Flair sends Mandy Rose to the floor. Charlotte Flair eliminates Mandy Rose Shortly after Mickie James is sent tumbling out by Shayna Baszler. Number 18 – the 3rd unannounced participant NXTOz’s Emma. Number 19 – Kaitlyn joins the fray. Both sets of Horsewomen seem to have worked out how to create a fairly impregnable defensive position in the 3 across a corner of the ring configuration meaning they cant be flanked – its a pretty smart idea. The other women seem to have formed a loose alliance and are besieging the two groups. Number 20 – Ronda Rousey! Rousey slides in behind her MMA Horsewomen teammates and they begin to push out from their corner. Natalya is eliminated by Ronda Rousey On the other side of the ring Charlotte get a hold on Sonya Deville and sends her over the ropes eliminating her. Suddenly both groups of Horsewomen push out from their corners and head toward each other. The other women sensibly get out of the way as the two groups are hell-bent on getting to each other. Marina Shafir is a step behind her team-mates though and Madison Eagles and Cheerleader Melissa get hold of her and send her back into the corner. Her team-mates have already locked up with the Horsewomen and don’t realise until way too alte that they are now down to 3 as Marina is sent to the outside. Marina Shafir is eliminated by Cheerleader Melissa & Madison Eagles. Number 21: AJ Lee. Lee heads to the ring just in time to see her tag partner exit. Meiko Satomura eliminated Kaitlyn. AJ Lee enters but is nailed almost immediately by Kairi Sane and staggers to the ropes before being nailed by a clothesline and is sent to the floor. AJ Lee is eliminated by Kairi Sane. Number 22 – Abigail The big scary Family member is next in and sets about cleaning house taking out two opponents in quick succession. Abigail eliminates Meiko Satomura. Abigail eliminates Cheerleader Melissa Number 23 – Sarah Logan. Bayley sends Jessamyn Duke over the ropes but as she turns Abigail nails her with a clothesline sending her out only Ronda Rousey to manhandle the big woman over the ropes. Bayley eliminates Jessamyn Abigail eliminates Bayley Ronda elimiantes Abigail Number 24 – Nikki Cross. Cross enters and she and Sarah Logan team up and attack Kairi Sane and double team her over the rope Kairi Sane eliminated by Sarah Logan & Nikki Cross. The action has started to slow down a little as some of the women realise we are starting to reach the end of the match and they need to conserve energy. Number 25 – Ember Moon. The two remaining Horsewomen take out both Sarah and Nikki in quick succession. Charlotte Flair & Sasha Bank eliminate Sarah Logan & Nikki Cross Number 26 – Naomi. Sasha and Ronda are at it again brawling in a corner. Number 27 – Serena Deeb. Number 28 – Taya Valkyrie. It’s really reaching the pointy end of the match now with only two more women to enter Ember Moon & Naomi gang up to eliminate the clearly tiring Madison Eagles who entered at number 2. Only to be blindsided by the two freshest women in the match who then send them both tumbling to the floor. Number 29 – Candice LaRae is heading to the ring Madison Eagles eliminated by Ember & Naomi Taya Valkyrie eliminates Ember Moon Serena Deeb eliminates Naomi Number 29 – Candice LaRae hits the ring and immediately nails Serena Deeb staggering her. She follows up with a Lariat and sends Serena out of the match. Serena Deeb eliminated by Candice LaRae. Emma eliminates Taya Valkyrie Emma and Candice brawl. Number 30 – The last surprise entrant is NXT’s Io Shirai who hits the ring and sends Candice LaRae over the ropes shortly followed by Emma Io Shirai elimiantes Candice LaRae Io Shirai eliminates Emma. We are down to 5 Charlotte, Sasha, Io, Shayna and Ronda. Io bides her time whilst the remaining Horsewomen brawl on the opposite side of the ring. Charlotte and Ronda simultaneously eliminate Shayna & Sasha. Charlotte eliminates Shayna Ronda eliminates Sasha Banks Charlotte and Ronda lock up – Io tries to send both out and all three are hanging over the ropes. Charlotte topples and is eliminated whilst Io and Ronda are stuck on the ropes Charlotte Flair is eliminated by Ronda Rousey & Io Shirai. Becky Lynch jumps the guardrail and reaches up and grabs Ronda Rousey’s arm. Io Shirai falls back into the ring whilst Ronda Rousey falls to the outside. Io Shirai wins the womens Royal Rumble after Ronda Rousey is interfered with by Becky Lynch, Charlotte and Sasha Banks were in the last 4, Charlotte with most eliminations, Madison Eagles Ironwoman Overall this was a solid rumble with a slightly screwy finish which is pretty much par for the course. Io Shirai got a big win in her Main Roster debut and the other three NXTOz ladies all did very well. The big story was clearly the faction warfare between the MMA Horsewomen and the 4 Horsewomen with both sides using tactics to ensure their long term survival. Abigail was given a nice cameo eliminating Bayley, Meiko Satomura and Cheerleader Melissa in quick succession.
alpha2117
WWE Royal Rumble 2020 – Houston Texas - Part 2 7: AJ Styles regained the US title from Kofi Kingston – This was a four star banger between two guys who are having a terrific feud. Interestingly it was a clean finish which is probably the right choice after The Womens Rumble, The IIconics and the RAW Womens title match all had scratchy finishes. 8: Seth Rollins defeated ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt to win the Universal title – Oh My … not too long ago Kazuchika Okada defeated Tomohiro Ishii at Fantastica Mania in New Japan in a bout that is very likely still be in the discussion when match of the year is decided at the end of the year but this wasn’t far behind. It’s was an amazing bout which is somewhat surprising given Bray’s somewhat limited in-ring skill-set – he brought his A game though. The build-up in this feud has been terrific and if Seth lost here it would likely have hurt him too much so it really was time to pull the trigger and have him win. Lets call this 4.75 Stars which is rare in the WWE. A cage lowers around the ring-side 9: Rey Mysterio escaped the cage to win the WWE title from Brock Lesnar – It was always going to be hard to follow up that last match and this match had Brock Lesnar in it so that was never going to happen – that’s not to say it wasn’t enjoyable though. Brock tried his best to use the cage but Rey kept out of his way and kept hitting low kicks to Brock’s lower legs before moving away trying to slow the big down now. When he thought he had the chance he set off up the cage. Brock pursued him. Rey turned and pushed off from the cage falling directly onto Brock and sending him to the mat. Rey then went for the climb again as Brock struggled to recover. Paul Heyman on the outside tried to open the door to make Brock’s escape easier but a returning Dominick Mysterio came to the ring and slammed Paul into the door as Brock tried to get to it – the door slammed into Brocks face. Rey made it to the ground before Brock could recover and escape the cage. 10: Mens Royal Rumble Buddy Murphy had drawn unlucky number 1 and he was joined by Karl Anderson – the two battled out until Luke Gallows came out at number 3 – the two O.C. members double teamed Murphy but the Australian proved hard to eliminate. Jey Uso entered at number 4 and went on the offence against Gallows and Anderson. Harper was in at 5 and the 5 men were joined by Murphy’s Tag Partner at 6. It’s pretty hard hitting so far – the Womens rumble saw a bunch of technicians early but the Mens rumble has been brawler heavy so far. The first unannounced entrant is the Big Show. The 6 men in the ring immediately forget their differences and set out to take out the huge man. Big Show wasn’t going down without a fight though and started throwing his big punches connecting with Uso and Anderson and sending them flying. Drew McIntyre enters at 8 sees a fallen Karl Anderson and takes advantage manhandling the insensate Karl Anderson over the top rope and eliminating him Drew McIntyre eliminates Karl Anderson. Big Show keeps throwing punches but to no avail as Ali/Murphy/Gallows & Harper get him up and send him over the top rope to the floor Big Show eliminated by Ali, Murphy, Gallows and Harper Jimmy Uso heads to the ring at 9 just as Drew McIntyre lifts his still semi-conscious brother up and over. Jimmy immediately engages Drew. Ali & Murphy work against Gallows and Harper on the other side of the ring. Jinder Mahal enters at number 10 and joins Drew in working over Jimmy Uso. Xavier Woods enters at 11 and attacks Jinder and Drew. Rowan enters at 12 and joins with Harper and Gallows battling Ali & Murphy. Big E comes in at 13 going at Jinder and Drew. 10 men are in the ring now when Kane’s music hits and the big man enters at 14 as the 2nd surprise entrant. Kane begins to run amok manhandling men and throwing them around the ring. The unlikely alliance of Drew McIntyre, Jinder Mahal, Big E, Xavier Woods and Jimmy Uso rush him and get him off his feet Kane grabs Jimmy Uso by the throat and takes him with him as he is bundled out over the top rope just as King Corbin is announced at number 15. Jimmy Uso eliminated by Kane Kane eliminated by Drew McIntyre, Jinder Mahal, Big E, Xavier Woods and Jimmy Uso Corbin hits the ring and is nailed by Drew he spins and then is nailed by Big E, staggering he then takes a shot from Xavier Woods and dazedly wanders straight in to one by Jinder Mahal before bouncing back to Drew who grabs him and nods to the others who again join together to manhandle Corbin, Number 16 is announced and Cain Velasquez heads to the ring. Cain enters and begins to fight Harper just as the loose coaliton get Corbin over the ropes King Corbin eliminated by Drew McIntyre, Jinder Mahal, Big E and Xavier Woods 6 guys are in one corner of the ring brawling whilst 4 guys are on the other side of the ring having a stare down followed by a quick discussion Drew appears to be trying to convince Big E and Xavier Woods to continue their alliance with him and Jinder and the New Day boys eventually nod in agreement. The 4 men move quickly to attack Rowan & Ali and begin to lay shots on them. Number 17 is announced and Bobby Lashley heads to the ring. The loose coalition gets Ali up and try to get him over the rope but Buddy Murphy takes their legs out saving his partner. Bobby Lashley starts laying guys out. There hasn’t been much room for subtlety so far and it’s been a brutal brawl. Talking of brawls …. the lights go blue … a gong sounds and our 3rd unannounced entrant The Undertaker makes his way ponderously towards the ring – he may well make it by the time number 30 enters. He eventually hits the ring and Harper and Rowan immediately attack him – they grab him and start to take him over the ropes but he grabs both by the throat in a death grip choke-slam style. Undertaker is hanging over the ropes but both Rowan and Harper are struggling to stay in the ring leaving all 3 in a precarious position. Elias in announced at 19 and pulls a classic move – he moves to the ring and before entering grabs Undertaker and yanks him downwards – Taker goes and he takes Rowan and Harper with him. Elias just eliminated 3 men before entering the ring. Undertaker eliminated by Harper, Rowan and Elias Rowan and Harper eliminated by Undertaker and Elias. Elias climbs into the ring and is nailed by a double dropkick from Ali & Murphy. Elias just made history with the most number of eliminations combined with one of the quickest eliminations – he averaged about he technically lasted in ring about 9 seconds and had 3 eliminations which is both impressive and unimpressive at the same time but that’s the Rumble for you. Elias eliminated by Murphy & Ali. Big E & Xavier Woods get Luke Gallows up and over the top rope just as number 20 Shelton Benjamin heads to the ring. Luke Gallows eliminated by Big E and Xavier Woods. The remaining men continue to brawl for the next few minutes as numbers 21 Rusev and number 22 Finn Balor enter the ring. Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal decide that they are still working with Big E and Xavier Woods – the four men have been surprisingly cohesive and they get Cain Velasquez up and try to get him over the rope just as number 23 Daniel Cormier is announced he sprints to the ring and tries his best to save his friend but he’s moment too late. Cain Velasquez is eliminated by Xavier Woods, Big E, Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal. The gang of 4 begin to work over Cormier but the MMA vet proves difficult to eliminate. Roman Reigns enters at 24. The Big Dog its the ring and begins to run riot. He goes straight for the gang of 4 sending Xavier Woods spiralling over the top rope after a running clothesline. Drew and Jinder turn on a stunned Big E and send him out after his partner before he can recover his wits. Xavier Woods is eliminated by Roman Reigns Big E eliminated by Jinder Mahal and Drew McIntyre. Dolph Ziggler enters at 25, and he is followed by John Cena at 26 and Randy Orton at 27. Orton and Cena dont waste time trading big shots. Dolph Ziggler meanwhile sends a tiring Ali over the top rope but he tries to skim the cat and avoids elimination. On the other side of the ring Daniel Cormier sends Jinder tumbling out. Dolph Ziggler sends Buddy Murphy over the rop straight into Ali as he tries to get back intot he ring sending both men to the floor Jinder Mahal is elimianted by Daniel Cormier. Ali eliminated by Dolph Ziggler Buddy Murphy eliminated by Dolph Ziggler Shinsuke Nakamura enters at 28 and sends Cormier over the ropes pretty much straight away Daniel Cormier is eliminated by Shinsuke Nakamura. Drew McIntyre nails Dolph Ziggler with a Claymore Kick and Dolph does a spectacular flip over the ropes selling the move like he’s been shot out of a cannon. It may not have been realistic but it’s the Royal Rumble and realism really isn’t the point – the spot looked amazing. Drew McIntyre eliminates Dolph Ziggler Number 29 is announced and it’s the most electrifying man in Sports Entertainment history … The Rock!!!!! Rock hits the ring and proceeds to lay the smack down on everybody. Drew McIntyre’s fantastic run comes to an end and he’s sent tot he floor. Drew McIntyre is eliminated by The Rock. Adam Cole enters at 30 and he is one of 11 men who could still win Shinsuke Nakamura, Rusev, Bobby Lashley, Dolph Ziggler, The Rock, John Cena, Randy Orton, Finn Balor, Roman Reigns and Shelton Benjamin also remain. Shooting Party teammates Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin get Dolph Ziggler up and send him out. Roman Reigns attack them both and send first Shelton Benjamin and then Bobby Lashley out in quick succession. Dolph Ziggler eliminated by Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin. Shelton Benjamin eliminated by The Rock Bobby Lashley eliminated by Roman Reigns Randy Orton hits the RKO on Cena but before he can get him out is nailed by Rusev – Finn Balor hits a Shining Wizard on Rusev. Adam Cole moves to try to eliminate Cena or Orton. Shinsuke Nakamura sends a staggered Rusev to the floor. Before he can turn Balor grabs his legs and bundles him over the ropes. On the other side of the ring Adam Cole gets Orton over the ropes but in a spectacular move Orton hits an RKO as he falls sending Cole neck first into the top rope Rusev eliminated by Shinsuke Nakamura Shinsuke Nakamura eliminated by Finn Balor. Randy Orton eliminated by Adam Cole The Rock are hunting as a team now and throw Finn Balor over the top rope and just after a still groggy looking John Cena manages to get a unconscious looking Cole over the ropes. Cena turns and gets a double clothesline from the Rock and Reigns and he’s gone … and then there were two. Finn Balor eliminated by Roman Reigns and The Rock Adam Cole eliminated by John Cena John Cena eliminated by The Rock and Roman Reigns. The Rock and Reigns look at each other – they aren’t just allies, they aren’t just friends they are family. The two stare at each other and hit a quick fist bump before going at each other hard. The next 6 minutes saw both men go back and forth before Reigns nails The Rock with a spear. The Rock staggers to his feet slowly as Reigns waits …. Superman Punch! The Rock staggers back to the ropes and a clothesline sends him to the floor! The Rock eliminated by Roman Reigns Roman Reigns wins the Royal Rumble from The Rock, John Cena & Adam Cole. Drew McIntyre with the most eliminations, Buddy Murphy - Ironman It was one of the best Rumbles in recent memory with plenty of big hits, fun spots, unlikely alliances and a mini-dream match between the last two. It was easily a 4 out of 5 star bout. The show ends with Roman Reigns pointing to the Wrestlemania sign.

Aurora
What I loved were those little bits that made it feel like a Rumble The two Horsewomen teams using the corner for defence The Becky interference because they would absolutely need to have someone else win given Mania Horsewomen 4 v 4 Elias being a Dick to Undertaker and him taking 2 guys with him with chokes lam holds Someone holding onto the ropes to survive and then being taken out when someone hits them Dolph overselling and flipping himself over the ropes Most of all the Jindrak, Drew, New Day strange alliance. You see those odd ones most years and they always end with them turning on each other for no reason but Drew was painted as the ultimate opportunist here so it made sense.
