Friday Week 3, March, 2020

Live from the Fountain Square Theatre [indianapolis, Indiana, Great Lakes, USA]

82 people in attendance (down from 84 last show)

Commentators: Marv Earnest & Honest Frank

qSIrNZu.jpg?1Vaq1dgZ.jpg

Earnest, “Hello and thank you for joining us here at Championship Wrestling from Indianapolis once again. Tonight, CWI presents its first ever tag team tournament, March Madness. This tournament will also name the first CWI Tag Team Champions. Plus, Conner Threepwood defends the CWI Heavyweight Championship against Tribal Warrior and Suzanne Brazzle and Steph Blake will meet in the finals of the Women’s Championship tournament to decide who will be the first ever CWI Women’s Champion.”

Frank, “It is what I like to call a marquee night, Marv. Three titles will be decided tonight. A triple main event. We will leave here knowing who all the major players in CWI are. Who has their career headed in the right direction and who might want to step their game up to compete.”

Earnest, “As always, that’s very perceptive of you Frank. I don’t think we should waste anymore time. Let’s get right to the action!”

Reece & Wells versus The Femme Fatales

  • It was fitting for the first match of the first annual March Madness tournament was a tag team match -- even if it was not a tournament match.
  • Ruby Reece and Sabrina Wells were the final AAA Tag Team Champions and have been teaming off-and-on on the independent scene until they arrived here in CWI.
  • The Femme Fatales have been teaming on the independent scene since they made their debut -- Urena Frost, in particular, has been in high demand and has also been working for CWWF.
  • These four women have all been involved in singles matches against one another with Frost defeating Sabrina Wells in a pre-show match on the first show and Neema defeating Reece in the first round of the CWI Women’s Title tournament.
  • Reece and Wells jump-started the match -- trying to get the crowd into it early.
  • Reece and Wells controlled the early portion of the match. Their championship-level experience was showcased with some quick tags back and forth and some early double team moves onto Neema.
  • Neema was able to tag in Frost and the Fatales took over the match. They are clearly two women who aren’t afraid to bend the rules and CWI Official Bret Graveson had to reprimand them multiple times to watch the hair of their opponents (Frost and Neema used Wells’ hair to keep her from being able to get away).
  • Finally, Reece had seen enough and the match broke down into a brawl that spilt to the outside and forced Bret Graveson to throw the contest out.

Reece & Wells went to a double count-out with the Femme Fatales in 10:03.

Jimmy Cox versus The Hangman

  • The Hangman cuts an imposing figure on his entrances. His entrance music “
” by Volbeat is loud and pulsating and with the long rope with the Hangman’s knot tied in it wrapped around his shoulders and the dark coat and dark hat -- he looks like the embodiment of the wild west Hangman.
  • Jimmy Cox is a legendary figure in Japan, having been one of four gaijin to hold the GCG World Heavyweight Championship (along with Dread, Rip Chord, and Pistol Pete Hall.) The Dayton, Ohio native shocked the 82 people in the Fountain Square Theatre when he walked out to answer the challenge laid out by The Hangman.
  • At forty-seven years old and approaching the thirty-year mark on being a professional, Cox is twenty-six years The Hangman’s senior and is still in incredible shape.
  • Unfortunately for the former GCG World Heavyweight Champion, that’s about where the platitudes stop. The Hangman demolished him.
  • It wasn’t pretty but it was efficient. He hit a big boot right in the face at the start of the match and then tossed Cox across the ring into the corner. A corner avalanche was followed up by another toss across the ring. And then the Chokeslam and the match was over and The Hangman stood over Jimmy Cox like a predator stands over conquered prey.

The Hangman defeated Jimmy Cox by Chokeslam in 2:06.

DeMarcus & Pelton versus Deverell & Pryde

  • The first of four first-round matches in the March Madness tournament was up next. Both of these teams were first-time teams that were looking to make an impact on the CWI tag team scene.
  • DeMarcus, the most experienced of the four men in the match, looked to be the most comfortable. The muscular heavyweight from Rhode Island looked very impressive in the beginning of the match as he man-handled Zippy Deverell.
  • The brawler from Corbin, Kentucky was perfect in his early match selling of DeMarcus’ power. DeMarcus tagged in the equally big-and-strong-and-cut Pepper Pelton and Pepper hit Zippy with a beautiful stalling suplex that had the 82 fans in attendance counting along.
  • Zippy managed to tag in Prime Time Jack Pryde -- who took the chance before he got in the ring to give the ladies in the front row a little hip swivel action.
  • From here, Pryde and Deverell took control after an eye poke. They wore down Pepper Pelton with simple but effective wrestling. Both Pride and Deverell are inexperienced workers in their rookie years as pros and they wrestled like it. Neither of them did anything fancy, but they were effective in the way they worked down Pelton.
  • Pryde did hit a second rope knee drop that looked wicked and got a near fall.
  • Pelton made the hot tag to DeMarcus -- who made the big comeback for his team. He cleared out Jack Pryde and hit the Snap Tackle on Zippy Deverell to get the win.

DeMarcus & Pelton defeated Deverell & Pryde in 8:24 after a Snap Tackle to advance in the March Madness Tournament.

Patterson & Blackburn versus The Wolf Pack w/ Mark Hyatt

  • The second March Madness tournament match pit the new team of Patterson & Blackburn against the Mark Hyatt-led Wolf Pack.
  • Both teams look like throwback teams. They don’t wear flashy outfits -- they look like pro wrestlers.
  • This wasn’t a pretty contest by any stretch of the imagination. Patterson and Blackburn are both super young and super green and are still learning their way around the ring and the Wolf Pack aren’t experienced enough to really lead a match on their own.
  • Hyatt did a really good job at ringside adding heat to the match.
  • Patterson and Blackburn got the early offense in -- but when the Wolf Pack took over the match, they didn’t let up. There is a viciousness in the Wolf Pack that is different from the viciousness that big bruising teams showcase. Noggin and Tokoeka aren’t big bruisers -- but they isolated the neck of Jason Patterson and went to work. Their big team highlight was a front facelock from Tokoeka to Patterson that allowed Noggin to come off the second rope with a knee right to the back of the neck.
  • Noggin immediately followed that up with a Hangman’s Neckbreaker to get the pin.

The Wolf Pack beat Patterson & Blackburn 8:42 to advance to the second round of the March Madness tournament after Noggin hit Patterson with a Hangman’s Neckbreaker

The sounds of “

by Britney Spears plays over the PA system in the Fountain Square Theatre and the team of Debbie Rose and Kate Lilly come out. Neither of them look particularly pleased to be in Indianapolis tonight. Lilly gets the microphone from Marvin Earnest and joins Rose in the ring.

Rose, “You are all welcome. You are all welcome for getting to stand in the presence of true greatness. Generational greatness.”

Lilly, “Debbie and I are the best tag team in professional wrestling. Regardless of gender. We’ve put in the work. We’ve earned the right to call ourselves the best and we heard that the Confederation of the Territories has officially sanctioned a World’s Women’s Tag Team title.”

Rose, “Yet has either of our phones rang to set up a title match for these World titles? No. Nothing. As far as we can tell, a match hasn’t been made for the belts at all. So Kate and I. We’re going to go ahead and say it. We’re the best tag team in wrestling and we want the World Tag Team Titles. Next month at April Showers, we’re going to be here and we want Championship Wrestling from Indianapolis and the Confederation of the Territories to find us an opponent and sanction a World Tag Team Title match.”

Lilly, “And if we don’t get it… We’re going to raise hell until we do -- and you don’t want to see what happens when we raise hell. “

Lilly throws the microphone down -- much to the ringside chagrin of Marvin Earnest and the two ladies exit the ring and head to the back.

The Dog Soldiers versus Bred for Battle w/ Andrew Gibson

  • The Dog Soldiers made a great entrance to the sound of war drums. Wild Red Stallion just looks like a guy who will be a star one day. 6’5” and 280 pounds of muscle, he has a build very similar to Nate DeMarcus -- except that Wild Red Stallion has a thicker lower body than Nate.
  • Andrew Gibson led Bred for Battle to the ring like a man hell bent on taking over wrestling -- corrupt and willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants -- and with these two monsters on his payroll, he very well could.
  • Throughout the match, Bred for Battle didn’t take one bump. While Wild Red Stallion and James Diaz had a great exchange of forearms that showed that each man is as tough as two dollar steak -- Diaz never left his feet and neither did Stallion.
  • Ace Youngblood did all the bumping in this match. Once he got tagged in -- Bred for Battle completely tossed the veteran around. Youngblood showed a lot of babyface fire and the crowd was really getting behind the veteran.
  • Dreadnought flew across the ring with unbelievable speed and hit Stallion with a shoulder tackle that knocked him off the apron -- though Stallion didn’t fall flat, he was stunned and it allowed Dreadnought to hit Ace Youngblood with a vicious Dread Bomb.

Bred for Battle defeated The Dog Soldiers in 7:28 to advance to the second round of the March Madness Tournament. when Dreadnought hit Youngblood with Dread Bomb -

The Rock City Stars versus Hardcore Inheritance w/ Andrew Gibson

  • The final match of the opening round pit the most experienced team in the tournament -- The Rock City Stars -- against Andrew Gibson’s second unit, Hardcore Inheritance.
  • The Rock City Stars got a big ovation when they came to the ring. They have a rockstar feel around them and the female fans in attendance were really into Rockin’ Ryan -- who came out with his red Gibson ES-355.
  • Gibson looked as corrupt as over as he led Original Sinner and Chip Martin down to the ring.
  • Hardcore Inheritance started the match off hot. Original Sinner started as the legal man and the former professional football prospect tossed Ryan Turner around. Turner’s connection with the fans made him the perfect babyface to sell for Sinner and then Chip Martin.
  • Turner made the tag to Stan -- who is almost as popular and good looking as Ryan -- he just doesn't have the guitar player vibe.
  • Manna cleaned house and tagged back in Turner, who hit the Six String Shooter, a sprinting spear, on Chip Martin.

Rock City Stars defeated Hardcore Inheritance in 7:41 to advance to the second round of the March Madness tournament when Turner pinned Martin after a Six String Shooter.

Steffi Chee comes walking out to the ring to the sounds of “

” by Calvin Harris featuring Ellie Goulding. She is not booked for in ring action today but she is still all smiles as she walks over to the announcing desk to take the microphone from Marvin Earnest. She gets into the ring and the music fades out.

Chee, “It’s great to be here tonight. Obviously, I would rather be in this ring competing for the Women’s Championship like Steph Blake and Suzanne Brazzle will be later tonight, but last month I came up short against Steph Blake. It was a close contest, but ultimately at Hoosier Hysteria, Steph was the better woman. I can admit that without shame. I’ve been doing this for twenty four years, I’ve damn sure lost once or twice in that time. I don’t know how many more years I’ve got left in this sport. Father Time is undefeated and I know I’m not going to be the one to give him his first loss, but I do know that before the bell rings for the last time on my career I want to hold the CWI Women’s Championship. So I’m making my intention known -- I plan on challenging whomever wins tonight for the Women’s Championship. Do with that what you will.”

Steffi Chee exits the ring and hands the microphone back to Marvin Earnest before making her way to the back.

DeMarcus & Pelton versus The Wolf Pack w/ Mark Hyatt

  • The semi finals of the March Madness tournament kicked off here with three talents who know each other quite well from their time in Mid Atlantic Wrestling -- Nate DeMarcus, who is currently one half of the MAW Tag Team Champions and has been in a feud with the Wolf Pack in MAW.
  • This match was the story of the inexperienced team of DeMarcus and Pelton being exploited by the more experienced duo.
  • The Wolf Pack isolated Pepper Pelton so he couldn't tag in the more experienced partner.
  • DeMarcus was able to get in the action for a short time -- and in that time he dominated. Big overhead belly to belly suplexes for each of the Wolf Pack. DeMarcus looked like a future singles star, but when he tagged back in his partner, The Wolf Pack took back over and Noggin ended up hitting the Hangman’s Neckbreaker on Pepper Pelton and The Wolf Pack was on their way to the finals of the tournament.

The Wolf Pack defeated DeMarcus & Pelton in 12:15 to advance to the March Madness finals when Noggin pinned Pelton after a Hangman’s Neckbreaker.

The Rock City Stars versus Bred for Battle w/ Andrew Gibson

  • The second and final match of the semi finals -- The Rock City Stars and Bred for Battle. This was very physical.
  • Throughout the entire match, Bred for Battle physically dominated the Rock City Stars. They did whatever they wanted -- and referee Jez McArthur was not pleased with the blatant disregard for his rules. He warned Bred for Battle multiple times -- and warned manager Andrew Gibson to get his guys under control, but Bred for Battle continued to push the limits of his count and ignore referee instructions.
  • They had Stan Manna in the corner and Dreadnought was throwing body blows. McArthur tried to get him to break before the five, but he wouldn’t and McArthur was forced to disqualify Bred for Battle and award The Rock City Stars the victory.

The Rock City Stars defeated Bred for Battle in 8:46 to advance to the finals of the March Madness tournament when Bred for Battle was disqualified after failing to adhere to the referee’s instructions.

“American Eagle” Roger Monteiro versus The Masked Mauler VII

  • The fans were presented a buffer match in the tournament between the representative of the Dog Soldiers, American Eagle Roger Monteiro, against the paragon of old school, The Masked Mauler VII.
  • It was a slow, traditional match up. Monteiro shined early on as the young babyface who the crowd was excited to see. He was handsome and in good shape and with his long hair he looked like a guy who might be a professional athlete.
  • The Mauler was slow and deliberate and when he cut Monteiro off, he immediately started looking for the Iron Claw. Everything he did was to set up him trying to get that grip in. Monteiro kept fighting it off.
  • Monteiro was able to fight him off and hit a series of knife-edge chops that created some space and allowed him to get to the top rope and come off for the Eagle Chop, a flying chop to the skull

.

Roger Monteiro defeated The Masked Mauler VII in 8:27 by pinfall after an Eagle Chop.

The Rock City Stars versus The Wolf Pack w/ Mark Hyatt

  • The finals of the tag tournament pit the two longest-serving teams against one another -- but The Rock City Stars have vastly more experience, but The Wolf Pack have Mark Hyatt -- who has done a really good job all night.
  • Each tag match this night has been a little different. Some jump started the beginning, some were babyface controlled and some were heel controlled. Some didn’t have any hope spots and this was a classic tag match that you could have seen anywhere in the Southern United States (though Indiana isn’t the South a lot of its wrestling traditions are Southern mixed with some of the sort of hard-hitting no-nonsense of Detroit).
  • The Rock City Stars shined in the beginning. They used quick tags to keep the fresh man in -- though both were still selling the effects of their second round match up with Bred for Battle -- and a distraction from Mark Hyatt allowed an illegal entry into the ring and the Wolf Pack took control.
  • They isolated Stan Manna and really went to work on his neck. Noggin had already used the Hangman’s Neckbreaker twice in the evening to secure victories and it was clear that they were looking for the same thing here.
  • On the outside of the ring, Rockin’ Ryan Turner had energy and kept trying to get the people behind Stan. Even though Stan and Ryan are both Canadian, you could have sworn Shane Sneer put this thing together.
  • For the second time this evening, the Wolf Pack hit what looks like it’s going to be a trademark spot of theirs -- where Sione Tokoeka had Stan Manna in a seated front facelock and Sean Noggin came off the second rope with a knee right to the back of the neck. That got them a near fall.
  • Stan managed to duck under a clothesline and the people came to their feet when he tagged in Rockin’ Ryan -- who rocked the ring with big (open) right hands. Nogging and Tokoeka bounced all over the ring for Ryan. Big back body suplexes for each of them -- and then he even hit Atomic Drops on each of them.
  • Tokoeka sold out of the ring while Ryan backed up and launched himself across the ring. Hyatt’s facial expressions sold the story perfectly as Ryan drove his shoulder into the midsection of Sean Noggin’ for the Six String Shooter

The Rock City Stars defeated The Wolf Pack in 10:56 to win the March Madness Tournament and the CWI Tag Team Championship after Ryan Turner hit the Six String Shooter on Sean Noggin.

“Miracle Blonde” Suzanne Brazzle versus “The Mistress of the DDT” Steph Blake

  • Brazzle and Blake are two experienced veterans that had to win two other matches to get here tonight. Neither of them are prisoners of the moment. Neither of them are afraid of the spotlight. Each of them have put twenty years into the sport. Twenty years of blood and sweat and sacrifice have led them right here. Standing across the ring from one another with the Women’s Championship on the line.
  • They worked like two old pros. They know how to work an audience. They know how to tell a story and they did so. Neither of them are the athletes they were in their prime -- but they don’t have to be. They are both generals and played the match perfectly.
  • Brazzle controlled the early going. She tried to keep the Mistress of the DDT on the mat -- Blake is very dangerous when she gets onto her feet and can grab ahold of her opponent’s head.
  • Blake was able to create distance and get out of the ring to create distance. When Brazzle chased, Blake was able to cut her off and go to work. She tried for multiple different DDT attempts -- but each time Brazzle had a counter out of it.
  • Brazzle hit a beautiful dropkick -- one of her trademark moves, a picture perfect standing vertical dropkick -- that sent Steph Blake into the corner.
  • Blake demanded that Bret Graveson, the official assigned this contest, come check her eye and while he did -- The Femme Fatales hit the ring. They both got up on the ring apron. Brazzle knocked them off, but when she turned around she got kicked in the gut and then lifted and bounced off the ropes for a Slingshot DDT.

Steph Blake defeated Suzanne Brazzle in 13:04 after a Slingshot DDT (with outside help from the Femme Fatales). Blake wins the CWI Women’s Championship.

Suzanne Brazzle looks like she is out of it after the DDT as the Femme Fatales get into the ring. Steph Blake adjusts the Women’s Championship on her shoulder and she grins at the two young women in the ring. The British Bully points at Suzanne Brazzle and gives the thumb down. The Femme Fatales nod their heads and pick the wounded Brazzle up. Urena Frost is the more powerful of the two and she lifts Brazzle up onto her shoulders like she was going to play chicken or hit an Electric Chair Drop. Talia Neema climbs up onto the top rope. Neema leaps off and turns for a spinning heel kick. The force of the boot into the jaw of Brazzle sends the recently-defeated woman off Frost’s shoulders and crashing into the mat. They call this move the #YouToo, as in if you thought your friend got her ass kicked, it’s about to be You To. Backstage personnel hit the ring and Blake and her two new posse members slide out of the ring to a chorus of boos. Blake holds the Women’s Title high above her head as her and her two friends leave.

Tribal Warrior versus “The Indiana Strangler” Conner Threepwood ©

  • The main event of the evening had Conner Threepwood, the Indiana Strangler attempting to make his second successful defense of the CWI Championship. His opponent tonight was the longtime Tag Team partner of the man he made submit last month. Tribal Warrior.
  • Tribal Warrior is just as big and just as mean as Java -- and is equally as accomplished. While Java had marquee wins in Japan oer top talent, Tribal Warrior has also been a successful wrestler on both sides of the Pacific -- having toured extensively with Burning Hammer while also winning singles and tag titles in USPW.
  • The big Samoan wrestler -- who is not a part of the extended Samoan family in wrestling -- came out of the gate just like Java did -- going right at Conner.
  • It was slow and methodical but it was just as vicious. For the second straight month, Threepwood took a beating. There is nothing fancy about Tribal Warrior. There’s nothing that would get him classified as a mat wizard, but everything he does hits hard and deliberate. Every forearm, kick, headbutt, body slam, throw, elbow drop -- all if it was with the specific purpose of beating Conner Threepwood down.
  • Tribal Warrior backed up into the corner and waited until Conner Threepwood got to his feet. Threepwood was wobbly on his feet and he turned towards Tribal Warrior -- who came running across the ring. He lifted a big boot up off the ground and was looking to boot Threepwood’s head off and into the fourth row of the crowd -- the Colts do need a new kicker. Tribal Warrior calls this the Head Hunter’s Special, but Threepwood had just enough wherewithal to drop to a knee and let Warrior’s boot go sailing over his head.
  • Threepwood began his comeback from there. He immediately went to work trying to get the big man down and off of his feet. Tribal Warrior was not an easy man to get off his feet, but Threepwood did manage to hit a suplex that got the crowd roaring. Threepwood worked from there to try and get the Stretch Plum locked on, but Tribal Warrior kept fighting it off. Warrior went for a big headbutt, but Threepwood countered it by grabbing his head and throwing a knee up -- that dazed the big man enough for Threepwood to position him down and into the very painful Stretch Plum. He worked his leg against the back of Warrior’s neck while pulling on his arm. Warrior tried to fight out of it, but just like his partner he had to submit -- perhaps for the first time ever.

Conner Threepwood beat Tribal Warrior by submission with the Stretch Plum in 18:15 to retain the CWI Championship. He makes his second successful title defense.

<p>March Madness is in the books folks! We had sixteen predictions on this show -- down from our record high (so far) at Hoosier Hysteria but with so many diaries going on, on top of all of the real world stuff, I think that's still a good turn out.</p><p> </p><p>

No one was able to notch a perfect score because no one saw the double count-out coming! There were a lot of people that correctly guessed the entire tournament so kudos to you all. Tryker2710 took the day with her 10/11 -- only missing the opening contest!</p><p> </p><p>

Congratulations to Hazemore, Lieon02 and Tryker2710 for strong debuts in the predicting game (I didn't forget about you smw88, you are just a regular participant). Can these three newcomers to the prediction game continue to build on their positive momentum and take spots high atop the quarterly leaderboard?</p><p> </p><p>

There was also a fall from grace for King Slender, who started off with back-to-back perfect scores and then had a less-than-stellar outing this time out. Will this be a bump in the road for him? Only time will tell!</p><p> </p><p>

<p>Shouldn't I have 10/11? I think I got everything right except that opening match?</p><p> </p><p>

Edit: Also very interested to see who you put up against the Stars as a first feud, kinda hope it's not BFB since they can't afford a loss and I don't want to see the Stars lose the belts so soon</p>

Richard Eisen recently passed away after a short illness. He was sixty-five years old and he spent forty-eight years of his life in the professional wrestling business. I thought now would be a good time to take a look back on his career.</p><p> </p><p>

Richard Eisen was born into a middle-class family on June 6, 1954 (a date that is important because it was the tenth anniversary of Operation Overlord, also known as D-Day. His father was an insurance broker in New York City and his mother was a homemaker. Despite his father working in New York, the Eisen family lived in Manchester, New Hampshire. Richard was the youngest of five children and the only son that his father, Walter Eisen, a third-generation German-American and mother Josephine Duval (a descendent of the first civilian Governor of American Florida, William Pope Duval) had. </p><p> </p><p>

Most of Richard Eisen’s younger life remains a mystery. He did not conduct many public interviews and was famously closed off, but it is public record that he attended Phillips Exeter Academy. He was an excellent student and graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy at sixteen years old. In June of 1972, at eighteen years old, Richard Eisen seized control of the nascent Supreme Wrestling Federation after his father’s passing. Walter Eisen had started the Supreme Wrestling Federation in January of 1972. It had been the elder Eisen’s lifelong dream to promote wrestling and his son took what his father started and pushed forward.</p><p> </p><p>

In an era of closed-mindedness, paranoia, and mistrust, Richard Eisen did not play by the rules. Wrestling was territorial and promoters closely guarded their fiefdoms, but Richard Eisen didn’t mind. He set his sights on national control -- first starting with his two competitors in the North East of the United States -- American Pro Wrestling Federation and Championship Wrestling from Boston.</p><p> </p><p>

Richard Eisen followed a simple strategy. Buy top talent. Encroach in your competitors’ area. Show no mercy. His strategy was very successful. Within six years of taking control of the SWF, Eisen had put APWF, CWB, and even Florida’s AAFW out of business. He controlled the entire Eastern seaboard of the United States and set about conquering the rest of the United States.</p><p> </p><p>

His aggressive, forward-thinking presentation did not win him many fans with wrestling purists. He focused his company’s presentation on the glitz and the glamour. He focused his promotion on larger-than-life characters such as Sam Strong, his biggest meal ticket. He focused on making wrestling something more than a smoke-filled National Guard armoy territorial business. He wanted to make it more than the regional fiefdoms. He wanted an Empire. A Supreme Empire and by 1980 and his push into Pay Per View, Richard Eisen was hell bent on solidifying his empire.</p><p> </p><p>

He did it by offering exclusive, long-term contracts to talents that were the top stars in their region. He did it by aggressively going after local television markets to get his brand of professional wrestling on in every market.</p><p> </p><p>

For fifteen years, he dominated the American pro wrestling scene with no competition. Sure, mom and pop wrestling shops were still open, but none offered any real competition. His vision allowed him to continue to push his company forward even in the wake of the arrival of HGC. Even with Sam Strong and Rip Chord leaving him to go to his rival and chase big money, he established new stars. His desire to be number one cost him a lot of friends and allies. Not only Sam Strong and Rip Chord, but also Sam Keith and Peter Michaels. In his later years, his inability to move past the SWF-formula and inability or unwillingness to financially compete with USPW cost him Rich Money, Steve Frehely, Dawn, Engyma, and Jumbo Jackson. He lost ground and eventually lost the number one spot and even lost his company.</p><p> </p><p>

His shady business dealings, his ruthless attitude and his desire to have an Empire ultimately cost him his career in the business as he quietly retired to prevent scandal from overtaking the SWF. He is a man who changed the face of professional wrestling. He ended territorial wrestling and brought it from the peripheral of society to the business that made Pay Per View a sustainable model. He made a lot of talent millions of dollars and household names. He created a brand that became synonymous with professional wrestling in the United States even as he shunned the term.</p><p> </p><p>

He was a complicated man. A man that was charitable but vicious at the same time. He was a work-a-holic who barely slept and had almost no close friends, but he was a man that could be gregarious and warm and make people feel welcomed. He is a man that shunned media interviews but used his connections to push the SWF even further than wrestling company had ever been pushed. He was ultimately successful in dominating the American landscape but was never quite able to take over pro wrestling across the globe.</p><p> </p><p>

He is a man that will forever be remembered for how he changed the professional wrestling business.</p>

The Rock City Stars won! Wow im really surprised.. in a good way! I loved the show but really loved the tournament. (Sucker for tournament type things.) interesting to see Bred For Battle "lose" but still look strong. I can see them possibly winning the belts in the future, if Japan doesn't come knocking first.

Little bit of a random question, but did you put Bred for Battle as a UNIT, which makes the AI want to hire them both as a tag team? Or is this not a thing. Just curious after reading through your Dynasty. Great stuff tho my man, really really... great stuff.

Thank you thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed what has happened so far!

I did put them as a Unit and not as individuals. While I don't want them to get signed out from under me -- especially not at this part -- I wouldn't be mad if a company brought them both in.

We here at CWIWrestling.com received the following video earlier today. The email said that this is for a wrestler or a group of wrestlers that are coming to Championship Wrestling from Indianapolis in the not too distant future.

uoEa8xj.png

The video feed starts with these

as a camera cuts through a bunch of maple trees and pushes out of the trees into:

wMaqOw6.jpg?1

The image of the skyline changes into the words:

dig stolen

From there we see what looks like a mane of blonde hair and then we come up on:

gscPsxi.jpg

The shot then flashes out and flashes back up on the word

agaves

We come out of the word with another flash of blonde and then we cut to the image of:

w1FVU5y.jpg

And when we come out of that we get the words

anger lire

We come out of that to another shot strolling through trees and then the words.

COMING SOON.

At March Madness, The CWI camera crew was able to catch Tribal Warrior before he left the building after his loss to Conner Threepwood. Here is what the big Samoan grappler had to say.

uoEa8xj.png

mpIcxkw.jpg

Tribal Warrior is dressed in street clothes and is pulling a rolling suitcase behind him as he heads towards the exit door of the Fountain Square Theatre. The camera is bouncing up and down -- clearly someone is running to catch up.

Cameraman (Off Screen), "Warrior wait! Please wait. Can we get a few words on your loss tonight?"

The massive Samoan turns. His eyes narrow in on the cameraman and the camera. His face contorts angrily, making the tribal tattoos on his throat and up the side of his face more intense and scary looking.

Warrior, "You want some words on what happened tonight? You want to know how I feel."

The off-screen cameraman stutters a response, "Uh... Yes. Yes I do."

Warrior, "I'm pissed the hell off. I'm mad at myself. Twenty-nine years I've been in this sport and I've never submitted. Not once. Not until tonight. Not until Conner Threepwood got ahold of me and put me in that Stretch Plum. I'm pissed that after twenty-nine years, I let myself get caught in that. I should be CWI Champion right now, but I'm not and I'm pissed off about it. So, I'll be back next month. I don't care who CWI has for me, but I'll be here next month to hurt someone and CWI better be damn sure that someone is ready for me."

With that, Tribal Warrior pushed open the exit door and walked out into the chilly March evening.

After March Madness, the CWIWrestling.com crew was able to get a moment with CWI Champion, "The Indiana Strangler" Conner Threepwood. The Champion had the following to say.</p><p> </p><p>

CWI Champion, Conner Threepwood, is sitting in a folding metal chair. The CWI Championship rests in front of him. He's still in his trunks, but his boots are unlaced and his knee pads are down around his shins. He has a towel wrapped around his shoulder and a water bottle in his hands.</p><p> </p><p>

Threepwood, "I said it when I won this championship, but I'll say it again. I will continue to defend this championship with honor and pride. I will take on all challengers. I won't refuse a fight. I won't refuse an opponent. If any wrestler anywhere in the world wants to come to the Fountain Square Theatre and find out if they're better than the Indiana Strangler -- they are welcome to. I've told CWI management to find whoever they can. Find any wrestler they can that is willing to get in the ring with me -- if they are willing to come here, then I'm willing to fight them. I will be a fighting champion. I'm proud to be from Indiana. I'm proud to be from Indianapolis and I am proud to represent Championship Wrestling from Indianapolis."</p><p> </p><p>

Conner Threepwood sat at the end of the bar in Tate and Tottie’s Tavern in Fountain Square. It had been a long day and an even longer night. Threepwood was a simple man, for the most part. He had grown up in the shadows of downtown Indianapolis -- in the Lockerbie Square neighborhood of downtown Indianapolis. He went to Shortridge Highschool and he had been a quiet kid who dreamed of being a wrestler. As a pro, he wasn’t an outlandish personality. He had never been accused of being flamboyant or over the top. He was serious. He took wrestling seriously. He wasn’t an extravagant man with extravagant tastes. He still drove the Ford F350 he bought when he was working for the Stones. It had been brand new then. Now, it had seen better days but it got him where he needed to go.

He took a long drink of the beer in front of him. He wasn’t a picky drinker. He liked beer that was cold and in front of him and this one was. Tate and Tottie’s wasn’t the nicest place. In a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood, Tate and Tottie’s was a working class watering hole that had been here for longer than Conner could remember. Conner’s dad used to make the drive over here because Both Tate and Tottie were very reasonable women who charged reasonable prices and had decent sandwiches and people didn’t bother you less you wanted to be bothered.

Tonight, Conner didn’t feel much like being bothered. He was in a good mood, but he wasn’t in the mood for conversation. He took a bite of his over-sized pork tenderloin sandwich. The pork tenderloin sandwich was an Indiana staple. Always too big for the actual bun, by Conner’s estimation Tate and Tottie’s had the best one in the city, but he was probably wrong. He didn’t care if he was. He took another bite and washed it down with the beer and tried to ignore the throbbing pain in his side.

Tribal Warrior had worked stiffed tonight. He knew he would. That was who Tribal Warrior was and Conner didn’t mind. He didn’t begrudge someone who laid their stuff in. He was old school like that. He didn’t want someone to slap their leg for the sound of a kick connecting and miss by a mile. He had learned from Acid, who had learned from the Stone Family. He learned to be snug and solid and appreciate the quality in others so he appreciated the soreness in his body. The side effects of doing what he loved amplified by the fact he had worked that morning.

Another bite and another drink and Threepwood idly stared at the old box television in the corner that never left Fox Sports Indiana. He loved pro wrestling and for seven years he had made good money for the Stones. Good enough money that he had bought the Ford F350 parked out front and the duplex he had grown up in -- both sides. His parents still lived in the side they’d lived in his whole life and he lived on the other side. It was convenient. He could check on them each night. His bank account wasn’t hurting, but wrestling wasn’t paying enough to pay all of his bills. Not right now. Sure, he made a couple hundred bucks tonight -- grocery money for the month, but the utilities still had to get paid. The truck needed gas. Property tax was still a thing -- even if he had paid the house off years ago. It had been the first thing he put when he was working for the Stones. Even though he didn’t live there until the Stones let him go.

He shook his head and took another long, long drink. He was only allowing himself one beer. He still had to drive home. It was only two miles from where he was to his house, but he wasn’t going to drive buzzed. That was a recipe for disaster. So one beer and the pork tenderloin sandwich would be his treat for putting in eight hours on the construction site and then wrestling Tribal Warrior. It was a good reward for a hard day’s work. A reward earned. He didn’t begrudge himself for having to have a day job. He knew better than that. His parents had worked for a living. Had instilled a work ethic in him. His father had been a plumber. His mother worked in the office of a body shop. None of the work was glamorous, but it had put food on the table and kept the lights on and got him a new pair of shoes each August for school. He respected that, so when he had to work the morning before a show -- he didn’t complain. He did the work. When he had to work construction so he didn’t deplete his savings and become one of those wrestlers on crowd-sourcing websites trying to get money, he didn’t complain. He just did the work.

He had spent seven years making the big money with the Stones, but that had dried up six years ago. Indy bookings were consistent but they were weekend jobs and until Marvin Earnest had brought him in for Championship Wrestling from Indianapolis and the Whistler had brought him into Championship Wrestling from Tennessee, the bookings hadn’t been with any consistent outfits. Just spot shows here and there. Maybe someday he’d be able to wrestle full time again, but today wasn’t that day. Today was a day for him to finish the pork tenderloin sandwich and the beer and drive the two miles to the duplex he had grown up in -- but the other side of it -- where he would let the dog out and take a shower and put the ice packs on his body and put on some sitcom on Netstream that he had seen too many times to brag about and fall asleep. Today was a day for him to remember that just a little while ago, he had gotten to put in the work against a big Samoan bastard that was known the world over. Today had been a good day and tonight was a good night. The beer was good and the sandwich was good and Conner Threepwood was closer to being back to being a fulltime wrestler.

He finished the last bites of his tenderloin sandwich and the last little bit of his beer. It had been a good day. He was happy.
