We cut over to the interview portion where Taylor Gordy is standing with Deverell’s Army.

TiIkT9w.jpgV9qNagr.jpg?12cfwIcJ.jpgAgZ9dDf.jpgpmWxq4s.jpg

Deverell’s Army cut a promo hyping an upcoming World Six Man Title defense against Gary Greer and the Manifesto Deverell did all of the talking and was really in top form here. He ran down all three future opponents and let them know that the match isn’t going to go like they think -- and in fact -- the match is in two weeks on Wrestling Spotlight and when it happens, Zippy Deverell and his Army are going to leave Gary Greer and company broken.

A/N: While not my best show in terms of presentation, I wanted to get this show up. I've only booked one more show in the save -- next week's show, and I'm itching to book again! I didn't want to get too far ahead!

Also, special thank you to the incomparable King Bison for the new Victor Crash and Jimmy Dillon renders.

“You sure you are comfortable with this decision?” I asked Rick. He sat across from me in my office. With his thick hands and thick neck, he looked like a man who could strangle the life out of me if he wanted.

“Yes. I’ve already found an apartment.” He replied. His voice was low and gravelly from a lifetime of whiskey and late nights.

I reached for my coffee and took a long drink from the hot liquid. Rick and I had been kicking around this idea for a little while. It started when we started running spot shows in St. Louis. We realized there was an untapped market there. The Mid West could support its own full time pro wrestling organization. We weren’t big enough to really start touring yet and even if we did run the Mid West it wouldn’t be but occasional stops.

“When do you plan on leaving?” I asked him.

“Tonight.”

I nodded. Once I brought Sean in, I didn’t need Rick to agent matches. Between Sean and Grace, we had that covered. Rick could work on a different project. He could head up Central States Wrestling, a sister company to Heartland Pro Wrestling. He could take some young guys we’d both had our eyes on and try to develop them while also being a place I could send guys that I didn’t need. The Caseys were going to go there. They had finished up dates with me, but I thought they should still be in the fold. Rick liked them too, so it was natural. There would be others, of course.

I hadn’t told Rick my full plan yet. I was aware of how I had been treated by the Confederation of the Territories. The way my roster had been pillaged over the years. The talent I’d lost as they swooped in and signed them to exclusive deals as they got bigger. The difficulty I’d had in getting dates on the World Champion. The only reason I had the World Tag Titles under my control was the strength of my tag division and the COTT’s desire to not make the titles seem like they were only for Mexico and the South West. The World Women’s Title wasn’t mine, the Women’s Tag and Six-Man were currently mine but only out of necessity for the Women’s Tag and the Six-Man because they were my idea and we had spent time without them. Just like with Canada though, I wanted more respect. I wanted to be taken seriously and I saw an opportunity. If I could get Central States up and running and could rise in popularity a little bit more, I could start making inroads into COTT territory. I could go to the Mid Atlantic area. I could go to the Mid South or even out in the Tri State area. I wouldn’t do it immediately, of course, a lot of it was going to depend on how the year ended and how Central States did. I could also change my mind depending on how the COTT meeting in December goes.

“I’ve already contacted talent that I’m interested in.” Rick said and I half heard him. I was still lost somewhere between buying Larry Vessey’s company from him and putting him out of business and seeing one of my guys become the COTT World Champion. I had spent five and a half years building HPW from the ground up. I had made my investors proud. They were happy with our performance, but I was not satisfied. I had not been respected. Canada had waged a one-sided war, but I was slowly getting back at them. Piece by piece. The COTT had treated me like a farm league for their own companies. I’d get back at them, piece by piece. Tear them down from the inside or takeover and crown myself king.

“...Manifesto..” Rick said something that got my attention.

“Wait. What was that?” I asked.”

“I want to use the Manifesto as my top team.” He replied. “I think they’ll fit nicely with the style I want to present and they’ll make a great feud for Thunder & Lightning.”

I knew he was going to use Jason and Kevin -- that was part of the reason we had brought them into the March Madness Tournament. Rick had wanted the chance to talk to them and see if they were interested in working for him. They were. But Bobby and Jamar? I liked them. I wasn’t sure I was willing to part with them. “I don’t know Rick.”

“Marv, they’re not exclusive to you. They’re good kids. They need the work. I’m going to feature them better.” Rick explained and I knew what he was really saying. They were coming whether I wanted them to or not. Rick was going to use them. Son of a bitch. Did I create another potential threat by helping Rick get started?

“I’m going to help make them more valuable to you.” Rick said and I knew that was just old time bullshit. Carny crap, but it sounded good and I had to, at least for now, play nice. I had helped Rick get set up and if I backed out now -- it could cost me dearly. If I gave Rick a chance, maybe he could prove to be a valuable partner and ally. He’d been a good employee. A trusted advisor who had done his role well and now was going to get a chance to run his own shop.

I took a drink from my coffee cup once more. “You’re going to do great at this.” I told Rick and he grunted.

“I’ve got no other choice.” He replied dryly. When he and I had talked about this, he knew that a move into being a promoter was a risky move. Failure could haunt him. He was leaving a job with me that was consistent and taking a risk. Rick was not a major risk taker. “I’ve been here five and a half years. You’ve brought in Grace and Sean. You’re porking Grace and Sean’s a much better name than I am. You don’t need three agents. I’m the odd man out.”

“Rick that’s not true.” But it was true.

“Yeah it is. And that’s okay. You’ve been making moves to shore yourself up. You’re trying to fight something or someone. I don’t know who, but I’ve been around long enough to know when a war is brewing. You’ve been a good boss to me. You’ve treated me fairly. You’ve asked me to helm this operation in St. Louis. I’ll go do that. It’s the next logical step for me.”

I scratched the base of my neck. “I appreciate it, Rick.”

“Just remember that I’m on your side in whatever war you’re gearing up for.”

I nodded and we stood and shook hands.

Update: I am going to be taking a hiatus from diary writing. Right now, I just don't have a lot of creative motivation to write the diary. Don't worry, there is nothing bad going on in my life or anything, I just have a lot of irons in the fire that are pulling my focus in several different directions and leaving me little time for creative diary writing. I have run several shows past where I've posted -- so I can give the option to you the readers. Do you want to wait for results until I've got the motivation back, or do you want a series of results for what has been going on from the show we are at here to the last show I've ran?

Don't worry, this diary isn't dead and I have every intention of coming back to it, but after over a year of going at this diary nonstop, I just need to recharge the old batteries.

</span><img alt="NU80OSV.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/NU80OSV.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

Tommy Cornell Jr. is standing there. Gordy sells it like it is a huge, blockbuster, course-changing signing. TCJR looks like maybe he’s going to be a a babyface but then he swerves everyone and immediately goes heel and saying that HPW is lucky to have a prodigy like him on the roster. And he’s not coming alone. Very soon he is going to bring out the rest of the future of the industry.</span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

Taylor Gordy is standing by with Mark Hyatt and the COTT Mid American Champion “Bulldozer” Brandon Smith. Mark Hyatt does his job, hyping up Bulldozer as the most destructive man in pro wrestling. He’s ran through everyone he’s been in the ring with. He beat Sean McFly. He beat Wild Red Stallion. He ended the career of Nicky Champion when…</span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

Nicky Champion walks out. Security is quick to make sure Nicky can’t get his hands on Bulldozer and Mark Hyatt starts to pull the champion away while screaming that Nicky isn’t supposed to be here, he’s not medically cleared. All Nicky does is reach in his back pocket and pull out some paperwork. He holds it up and mutters a “I’m clear as of today” and the whole building explodes while Hyatt gets Bulldozer to follow him off set.</span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

Sean McFly stands in the ring holding up the Conner Threepwood Memorial Cup. The Living Legend looks incredibly humbled as the people in the crowd adorn him with praise and applause. McFly has had a lot of success in his career but at his age with and injury history he never thought he’d get back to this moment. But..</span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

The Cadillac Four, all dressed in street clothes, hit the ring. Lush screams instructions. McFly looks exhausted -- he did wrestle two hard matches tonight -- but he sets the trophy down and prepares himself for a fight. Just as the Cadillac Four are about to enter the ring…</span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

Taylor Gordy is standing by with Nate DeMarcus. Taylor asks for answers as to why Nate did what he did to Warwick Good. Why did he turn his back on Warwick Good? Nate explained that he was tired of carrying everyone’s dead weight. He was tired of being overlooked. He was a former two time Mid American Champion. He was a main event player and he was tired of being forgotten so it was time for him to remind the world just how good he really is.</span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

A/N: If you couldn't tell, the diary is back. My current plan is to do the more stripped down TV shows to move through them (in my hiatus, I actually ran several months of TV and am very excited about the developments I have in store) so that I can focus on narrative writing within the diary and the four big PPVS. I can churn out these shows much faster with much less creative burnout.

I'd also like to give a special shoutout to King Bison. If you haven't noticed, he did a brand new set of Texas Express renders and a brand new Zippy Deverell render. He also did the Tommy Cornell Jr that I debuted . There are other renders he's done that will be debuting in the coming months. HPW is in for A LOT of changes, you won't even believe it. Thank you for sticking with me so far. Let's get back on the train.

Taylor Gordy is joined by Mark Hyatt and the COTT Mid American Champion “Bulldozer” Brandon Smith. Hyatt runs down the return of Nicky Champion. He says only a coward returns that way. He can’t believe Nicky Champion had the temerity to come out and say there was going to be a Last Man Standing match at Circle City Classic VI. It is going to be the worst decision of Nicky Champion’s career because Bulldozer is going to break him. He’s going to send him right back onto the shelf.

Author Update: So I brought the diary back as my schedule cleared up and then unexpectantly, I was presented with some business opportunities. This opportunities, combined with the progression of a few others that were in development have eaten back into my diary writing time so I don't think I have enough time in my schedule to do this diary justice; so after thirteen months I'm going to indefinitely pause the dynasty; however, I do feel I should give some updates on what was going to happen in the story as I have ran all the shows for the remainder of 2025.

Circle City Classic VI saw Nicky Champion defeat "Bulldozer" Brandon Smith to become the Mid American Champion once again. At the same show, Lucy Stone-McFly would once again become the Women's Champion and Wild Red Stallion would win the Heritage Championship.

Over the summer we would see the following roster changes.

Nate DeMarcus -- exclusive with MAW after PSW came for him

Sandman Winks -- exclusive to GSW

The Ring Generals -- Exclusive to NYCW

Funky Fedora - Exclusive to NYCW

Cooper Christie -- Exclusive to PSW

Turk Trenneman -- Exclusive to NYCW

Wild Red Stallion -- Exclusive to NYCW

Dreadnought -- Exclusive to NYCW.

These moves drastically changed the landscape. Tommy Cornell Jr. defeated WRS to become Heritage Champion, The Texas Express put over the Roughhouse Riders as the new babyface team while Charlie Corner and Jack Pryde returned to the company. The Dynamite Express replaced The Ring Generals in the Cadilalc Four while Jack Jackson took over leadership after kicking out Funky Fedora.

The biggest piece of news though -- in November at Thanksgiving Turmoil, Zippy Deverell defeated Nicky Champion to become Mid American Champion! After Thanksgiving Turmoil, HPW promptly resigned from the COTT and started the Global Wrestling Council with APW, EXO2010, VWA, FEW, CSW, 5SSW, and another company whose initials I'm forgetting (one that was in the willr0ck women's mod).

Thank you all for joining me on the journey. It was a wild ride and I really enjoyed producing this diary and I hope you enjoyed reading it!

I can hardly believe that I only caught up with this 3 days after it hit the big pause. :D I was looking forward to my first predictions.

More seriously, it's been a brilliant ride Historian. Some wonderful, touching stuff, you've made your roster feel like real people and that is a credit to your writing ability!

The King of Indiana Pro Wrestling

hA60FKn.png

He pulled his boots over his tights and began the deliberate process of lacing them up. Tonight, he had perhaps the biggest match of his career outside of his battles with Nicky Champion. Tonight, he was stepping into the ring with Nicky Gilbert to challenge for the GWC World Heavyweight Championship. He was doing it as the reigning, defending, HPW United States Champion. He couldn’t believe where his career had taken him…

August, 2025

The semi main event of the sixth annual Railroad City Rumble was the first ever actual Railroad City Rumble. Twenty men would compete in a lottery format battle royale. The winner would receive a shot at Nicky Champion’s Mid American Championship at Thanksgiving Turmoil. It was a big moment. HPW was continuing to evolve and continuing to add things to the repertoire that could be major moments. Major tent poles in the year calendar…

Earnest, “Mr. Grappling has just been eliminated! He was the very first entrant in the Railroad City Rumble tonight and Bulldozer Brandon has just tossed him.”

Harper, “That leaves three. It’s Zippy Deverell with Bulldozer and the monster Dreadnought.”

Earnest, “And both Bulldozer and Dreadnought have been on fire tonight. Between the two of them, they’ve eliminated almost everyone. If Zippy is going to be able to rise to the occasion, he’s going to have to overcome two of the most physically dominant wrestlers in the sport today.”

Zippy was alone with the two big men and this is how it was scripted. This is supposed to be the beginning of his coronation as the King of Indiana Wrestling. He had been here since the beginning. What was it the kids used to say? He had been down since day one? He had bled for HPW. He had cut promos that had gone viral. He had been the most talked about independent wrestler because of what he had done here and now he had two big names. Dreadnought - the monster who was on his way out to a full time gig with NYCW. This was his swansong and he was going to make sure he gave back to Zippy. Sam was a nice guy. He had grown up in the business and he understood doing things the right way. He also knew that Marv had taken care of him -- had protected him for six years and that protection had led him to being signed by NYCW. Dreadnought charged into Bulldozer and the tackle took Bulldozer down and left it Zippy and Dreadnought -- at least for the moment. Zippy stood up straight. Dreadnought was a full six inches taller than him and had damn near a hundred pounds on him, but Zippy was being transitioned into the babyface role. He was being positioned to become the lead face of the company and part of it was not backing down from anyone -- even a monster like Dreadnought. So he stood in front of him and put his hands up and the crowd was behind him when he threw that big right hand and it collided with Dreadnought’s skull -- except Dreadnought didn’t move. Sam was supposed to no-sell the first few. He was supposed to pound Zippy a little bit before Zippy made the comeback. And that’s what they did. Dreadnought was exceptional and Zippy sold for him. He sold all of Dreadnought’s offense like it was going to kill him. This was beyond registering. Dreadnought had to look like a world eater. He had to look like Galactus coming. The crowd was hooked. They were into it all and when Zippy started the comeback they were with him. They roared with approval as Dreadnought went into sell mode and when Zippy managed to dump the three hundred pound monster over the top rope they couldn’t help but cheer.

Earnest, “Zippy Deverell just eliminated Dreadnought! He just eliminated Dreadnought! It is down to him and Bulldozer Brandon Smith who … Oh DAMN! Bulldozer Brandon just Backdrop Drivered Zippy Deverell.”

Harper, “And I think the feel good moment is over.”

Zippy lay motionless and the crowd was silent. Bulldozer was the final boss. He’d only lost to Nicky Champion. He had been unstoppable. He had run through everyone and even beat Zippy in July -- though by stoppage when Zippy refused to stay down. Bulldozer would make sense to win here -- the crowd here at the Fountain Square Theatre would understand him winning -- but he was the brain’s choice not the heart. The crowd wanted their heart to win. When Bulldozer picked Zippy up and brought him over to the ropes, they were quiet. Silent. When he tried to dump him over the ropes, Zippy grabbed onto the top rope. It was a fight. A struggle. Two men trying to overcome each other. Bulldozer trying to dump the smaller man. Bulldozer moved out from under Zippy -- letting him fall to his feet by the ropes and then came charging. He was looking for the clothesline to eliminate Zippy but Zippy grabbed the top rope and pulled it down and Bulldozer went up and over. When his feet hit the floor the people exploded.

Earnest, “Zippy Deverell has done it! By God, the young man from Corbin, Kentucky has done it! He’s headed to Thanksgiving Turmoil to challenge for the Mid American Championship!”

Now

He finished lacing up the left boot and began the process on his right boot. The locker room was noisy around him. It was always noisy as the guys shot the shit and talked shop. Everyone had a story to tell. They compared crowd reactions or girls in the crowd they’d slept with or wanted to sleep with or tried to sleep with. It was all background noise to Zippy. He’d never wrestled for a World Heavyweight Championship before and in truth, he did not think he was ever going to. He had been pretty certain he was just a character worker. He was supposed to just be a good promo who could float in the midcard. But here he was. He had defended the United States, formerly Mid American, belt five times. He had solidified himself as the lead babyface in the company. He was the heir to the throne that had been Nicky’s and Nate’s and Conner’s. It was his now. And he was the homegrown leader.

How did this happen? He had started in HPW as a rookie. Just a wide-eyed-Southern-boy who was happy to have to a gig. Now he was the twenty-five year old leader of the locker room. He didn’t run wrestler’s court or anything like that. He was; however, the guy that people counted on. He was looked at as the number one guy in the company. He was respected. He was an original -- really the last original left. Billy had been signed. Nate. Conner was dead… It was Zippy’s company to lead now. Tonight he was doing it again. Nicky had been the inaugural GWC World Heavyweight Champion. The former RAW superstar who left RAW when it became clear that he wasn’t ever going to get over the hump and be a top singles guy. APW had made him the Commonwealth Champion and now he was World Champion. He had nine defenses going into the match against Zippy. The two men hadn’t even talked before tonight. They knew the finish of the match and that’s it. The old school way of things. They were going to go out in the main event of HPW’s flagship event and just see what they can do. Zippy exhaled as he finished the right boot.

Thanksgiving Turmoil, November 2025

The crowd had been through the gamut tonight. They saw Dan Stone III and John Stone finally beat Xander and Danny Decolt. They saw Urena Frost defeat Talia Neema in a Last Woman Standing Match. They saw The Roughhouse Riders defeat the Player’s Club to win back the Tag Team Titles. They saw Tommy Cornell Jr. successfully defend the Heritage Championship against Sean McFly and also end the in-ring career of McFly. Lucy Stone-McFly continued her reign at the top of the Women’s Division by defeating Georgia DeColt and in the match that had just happened, Mr. Grappling and Mike Dalton defeated Bred for Battle to win the COTT World Tag Team Titles. They had seen everything and now the main event was well under way. Hawkeye Nicky Champion against Zippy Deverell. COTT Mid American Championship on the line. The fans didn’t know this, but this was the last night that HPW was going to be apart of the COTT. Earned was orchestrating a giant middle finger and it was going to drop tomorrow morning but tonight… Tonight was all about Zippy and Nicky. They had spent weeks hyping this with promos and training montages. They had built this into a battle of two men that had history and bad blood between them. One man was the former most-famous wrestler in the world who was trying to reclaim his spot (and was about to start with Burning Hammer full time). The other, the homegrown son of a coal miner who had not always been the nicest guy but was the toughest guy in the room.

They were well on their way in this match. They were, as Marv Earnest liked to say, in deep waters. They had blown past the twenty minute mark and were closing in on twenty five minutes. Both men were covered in sweat and when they chopped each other you could see the sweat flying off their chests. Champion looked at Zippy and muttered so no one but the two of them could hear. “You ready to go home, kid.”

Zippy didn’t verbally respond, but he did throw a forearm shiver that was his form of a yes and Champion couldn’t help but smile. Tonight, he was making a new star. He had spent two years here and had done what he could but his reputation had been repaired and it was time for him to go back to the big money. Zippy didn’t have that opportunity yet. He was here and was making the best of it and Nicky wanted to leave him in a position to draw big money for Marv. He owed Marv that. So they went into the go home sequence that they had planned out. Nicky went for a big tomahawk chop but Zippy ducked under it. Zippy went for a DDT, but Nicky reversed it into the Hawkeye Hammer. No one kicked out of the Hammer. No one. Until Zippy did just before Bret Graveson’s hand hit the mat for the three. The crowd exploded and Nicky looked beyond shocked. He lifted Zippy Deverell up and looked for a second Hawkeye Hammer but Zippy pushed him away and grabbed a side headlock. That led to the transition for the Spinning Bulldog that planted Champion and the crowd counted along and Zippy Deverell was crowned Mid American Champion.

Earnest, “Do you believe in miracles? I do because I just saw one tonight. Tonight I saw the damndest thing because I saw Zippy Deverell become Mid American Champion by defeating Nicky Champion. Tonight, I saw Zippy Deverell make his daddy proud by doing the thing he said he would always do. Tonight, I saw Zippy Deverell guarantee financial stability for his mother. Zippy Deverell has done it!”

Zippy sat on his knees in the center of the ring. The Mid American Championship clutched to his chest. Sweat dripped from him. Tears threatened to flow from his eyes. He swallowed to keep himself from crying but the emotion was genuine. He had worked so hard to get to this moment. From the first HPW show to right now -- he had carved out a name and a place for himself. He had built a name and a reputation and tonight it paid off. All of his hard work, all of it.. It had built to this moment. The Fountain Square Theatre was fully sold out. Five hundred paying fans filling it. They were on their feet serenading Zippy with praise. And he basked in it. Basked in the adulation that he never thought he’d earn. He was just a boy from Corbin, Kentucky. His daddy dug coal and his mama cleaned rich women’s houses. He wasn’t supposed to make it this far. It wasn’t SWF or USPW or TCW or anything like that. But he just pinned Nicky Champion clean. No shenanigans. No bullshit. Just him getting the clean victory.

He rose to his feet and hoisted the Mid American Championship above his head. High above his head for all to see. This was his coronation. He was the new king. The crown was the championship. His throne was the ring and his kingdom was the Fountain Square Theatre…

Now

He took a sip of water as he waited to push through the curtain. It was about to be go time. The Main Event of Circle City Classic VII. His first time main eventing the flagship show. He had scratched and clawed to get to this moment. The morning after hw won the Mid American Championship, Marv Earnest announced that HPW was leaving the COTT and had started their own governing body -- the Global Wrestling Council. HPW was joined by FEW in Mexico, APW in Australia, Exo2010 and 5SSW in Japan, VWA in Europe, as well as Bad Girls of Wrestling in Quebec, Kanzen Pro in Hawaii, and Central States Wrestling -- the sister company to HPW. War had been declared. Marv Earnest wanted to dismantle the COTT. In leaving, he took the World Six Man Champions -- The Industry, Tommy Cornell Jr. and the DeColts ReBorn, the World Women’s Tag Team Champions, The Omega Chicks, and the World Tag Team Champions Mr. Grappling and Mike Dalton. It was a big blow. His decision fractured his relationship with Sam Keith, but Marv was willing to do that. He explained to Zippy that the COTT had taken advantage of them. Pillaged them. Exploited them. Now was their turn to get back.

Zippy had led the charge. He bought in. He was an HPW guy. This was his home. The company he had built. In just a few moments, he was going to walk the aisle to wrestle Nicky Gilbert. He was going to go over, albeit by DQ.

He was Zippy Deverell. He was the King of Indiana Wrestling and he was going to help Marv Earnest destroy the COTT.

A/N: Not sure exactly what this means. But I've been feeling the itch. This was a little something I wrote. It could be that we're coming back (as I finished some priorities quicker than I thought), but I wanted to share this no matter what.

It's about time you GAVE ZIPPY THE WORLD!

Awesome post. I liked reading the recap of the happenings in HPW. Interesting stuff with the COTT that I believe was long overdue as it was. Miracle Mike is a champion!!! As he should be! Tommy Cornell Jr gets a huge rub by retiring Sean McFly. I imagine that match alone got HPW a TON of PPV buys.

Whatever you plan on doing with NoM, just know I'll be here. You've crafted something truly special here, and your contributions across the board cannot be understated.
