Allie Perks and Reece & Wells versus War Maidens</span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Allie Perks had a big opportunity to impress here in a six woman tag match on the main show. Especially against the War Maidens. Black Diamond looked great with the All Action belt and being flanked by the Femme Fatales. The War Maidens have been a fixture in CWI since almost the beginning of the company’s history and they have matching gear and things that display their individuality but their collective unity. They also controlled this match. Two things were clear during it -- Allie Perks was out of her depth and Urena Frost is a sensational talent. Frost looked like she should be in the major leagues here. Everything she did was crisp and fluid. Her timing and positioning was perfect and really helped this show get off to a hot start. Black Diamond was able to get the win for the War Maidens when she hit her Belly to Belly Suplex on Allie Perks.</span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

In a bout that had fantastic heat and good wrestling, War Maidens (Black Diamond, Urena Frost and Talia Neema) defeated Allie Perks and Reece & Wells in 10:14 when Black Diamond pinned Allie Perks with a Belly To Belly Suplex.</span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

In terms of in-ring work, Urena Frost was head and shoulders above everyone else. Allie Perks was the weak link, struggling to keep up with everyone else's in-ring performance.</span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span></span><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">The new Women’s Champion -- the first two time Women’s Champion in CWI History, made her way to the ring. For a year and a have, Lucy has been impressing fans in CWI. She had four great matches with Ashley Keith, she ended Urena Frost AND Tameka Sky’s Championship reigns. She’s been really proving what all of the industry insiders said about her. She stood in the ring with a microphone.</span></span></span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Stone-McFly, “I just want to say thank you. I want to say thank you to each and every person in the crowd who believed in me. Who supported me. Who cheered for me. Who believed that I could defeat Tameka Sky -- because, because of you all, I was able to. A lot of people will claim that pro wrestling is a solitary sport. Something that happens in a vacuum. That success is achieved by you and you alone, but that’s not true. I’ve been around this sport my entire life. It is in my blood. It flows through my veins and I have learned that nothing is achieved alone. You have to thank every person who helped you get to where you are and you all are why I am here. So thank you. I won’t let you down.”</span></span></span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Texan Justice versus The Taggs w/ Haley Buck</span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Just two weeks ago, The Taggs cost Texan Justice the CWI Tag Team Titles and now they were meeting for the second time in tag team action. The crowd was into this. This was rough and tumble and fists and well, there wasn’t anything “pretty” about this in the conventional sense. These are two wild teams. Two big, physical teams who beat the crap out of their opponents and that’s what they did here. For just over eleven minutes, they beat the hell out of each other. All four men’s chest were bright red from the chops and forearms. Haley Buck was fantastic on the outside of the ring. She had her ever-present moonshine mason jar that she was drinking out of. She riled the crowd up perfectly and when Kalder hit a big boot on Samson and then he and Wolfie hit the Spike Piledriver on Hoss Handley and the Taggs scored a victory.</span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

I’m tired of the pain in my body from what he did to me in that Steel Cage. Baby, I’m tired and I will run Nate DeMarcus out of the God damn business. I’m going to do pro wrestling a favor. Y’all can hang his jersey up from the damn rafters. I don’t care. Celebrate him all you want, but just know that he’s not long for this sport. He’s on borrowed time and soon someone is going to be ten thousand dollars richer. A big opportunity for Mellow Flashhart as she had a match against Ashley Keith. Keith was looking to rebound from back to back losses to the new Women’s Champion and she came out with something to prove. Flashhart is a great character -- a great entertainer -- her ability to play to the crowd is excellent, but as far as a wrestler, she isn’t in Ashley Keith’s league and after a few opening minutes for Ashley to settle in, this was a clinic of one wrestler just being vastly superior to another. Ashley Keith had her way with Mellow. She was disrespectful as she smacked her on the back of the head several tiems to prove her point and eventually she locked in the Proton Lock and got the submission victory.</span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

This was a huge opportunity for Samuel Danzig. The young man from Utah has been wrestling professionally since August of 2021 and has been on the CWI roster since July 2022. A year into his CWI career, the youngster, who has drawn comparisons to a young Human Arsenal, had his biggest break here as he was on the main show against Wild Red Stallion. Stallion has been red on in singles competition and he looked to continue his winning ways here against Danzig. Danzig was given a few spots early on to shine -- to look decent, but then the match became all about Wild Red Stallion. The big man showed explosive offense and really got a chance to show that he has developed significantly as a talent. He hit his </span></span></span><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><em>Lakota Cutter</em></span></span></span><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> to get the win.</span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, Wild Red Stallion defeated Samuel Danzig in 10:05 by pinfall with a Lakota Cutter.</span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

The Dog Soldiers versus The Dynamite Express ©</span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Ace Youngblood and Roger Monteiro looked to capture their first set of tag team titles together here. The last several months have seen the Tag Titles play hot-potato a bit. The Taggs beat the Texas Express but then lost to Texan Justice who then turned right around and lost to the Dynamite Express. Both of these teams are excellent teams. Ace and Roger are smaller babyfaces, but Syd and Cameron are also smaller heels. These are both work-rate teams. The Dynamite Express are excellent heels, but they don’t get by on overwhelming their opponents with physicality. They wrestle. They use fluid teamwork and control the ring. They work as a team and the two teams really brought the best out of each other here. Ace and Roger looked like they had Syd Collier set up to be finished off. Roger hit a huge dropkick before hitting a suicide dive onto Cam Jones at ringside. Ace was the legal man and was set up on the top rope for that Flying Tomahawk Chop -- but Maliek Chamberlain came to ringside. He exchanged some words with Ace, distracting him so Syd Collier could cut him off with a Superplex that he followed up into a Texas Cloverleaf. With Monteiro still on the outside of the ring feeling the effects of the suicide dive he just pulled off, Youngblood had nobody to help him and he had no option but to submit.</span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span></span><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">The brand new Indiana Heavyweight Champion, Zippy Deverell came walking to the ring. Gone was the disheveled look he had been rocking. Instead it was replaced by a cleaner look. His facial hair was trimmed. He looked like he had been sleeping better. He looked happy. He was all smiles as he took the microphone offered to him by Taylor Gordy.</span></span></span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Deverell, “It is good to be back. It is good to be back with the love of my life. It feels good. Damn good. For months, I’ve been trying to get her back. Trying to show her how important she is to me. How much she means to me -- and finally, two weeks ago, I got to do just that. I got to prove to the wrestling world that nobody loves her like I do. Nobody cares for her like I do. I mean, look at her. She’s all polished and clean. She looks great. She looks like a brand new championship. She looks like a prize. A prize that every man in this locker room should covet. Should lust after. But she’s mine. She’s MINE.”</span></span></span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Zippy smiled and showed her off.</span></span></span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Deverell, “And I’m never going to let her go. Ever. Noone is going to take her from me. Not Mr. Grappling -- that bum. Not anyone that CWI management can find to try to take her from me. You’re going to have to kill me to get her from me. You’re going to have to lay my body six feet deep if you want to get for her. I will walk through hell, fire, and brimstone to keep her. I will do whatever it takes to make sure she doesn’t ever leave my arms again.”</span></span></span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Deverell, “And Mr. Grappling, wherever you are -- you’ll never see her again. She’ll never lay in your arms. You’ll never get to smell her leather or stroke her polished metal plates. You won’t. She is mine and mine alone and you are just an afterthought. I proved that when I beat you. When I beat you clean, one, two, three in the middle of the ring.”</span></span></span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

He is interrupted by the arrival of Mr. Grappling. Grappling doesn’t walk to the ring, he just stands in street clothes, but with his mask. He had a microphone.</span></span></span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Grappling, “Zippy, you can tell yourself whatever you want. You can lie to yourself however you want, but understand that there was nothing that was clean about the way you won the Indiana Championship from me two weeks ago. I won’t take away your victory. You won. You did that. I can’t be mad at that at all -- but this thing between us Zippy. It’s far from over. One of these days, we’re going to have to settle this for good. Settle it the way men do. Settle it in that ring with no excuses. That time is coming, Zippy. Make whatever arrangements you need to make -- because we’re fixing to go to war.”</span></span></span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

The San Diego Girls looked to make their third successful defense of the Women’s Tag Team Titles here -- and they were against the formidable team of La Hija de Phoenix and Esperanza Montero. This was a match made in stylistic heaven. All four women are well-versed in the lucha tradition and the lucha-stylings and they came to showcase that here in an excellent tag team display. It was a fast-paced match that featured lots of tags back and forth and lots of high energy action. It was a stark contrast to the earlier Tag Team Title match that was more of a classic American-style tag contest. This felt like it would have been right at home in OLLIE or CILL or even QAW. Esperanza Montero looked like a real star in the making here -- she could be a major player in the women’s division. There was a moment where Esperanza springboarded into the ring for a Tornado DDT on Coco Malloy that got a near fall and really brought the crowd out of their chairs. Esperanza tagged in La Hija de Phoenix right at the time that Coco made a diving tag to Izzy. Izzy came in and hit a beautiful flying headscissors that actually sent Phoenix crashing into Montero -- knocking Montero off the apron and allowing Izzy and Coco to hit the </span></span></span><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><em>Mission Beach Missile</em></span></span></span><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> to score the victory.</span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Cooper Christie versus Dreadnought w/ Andrew Gibson</span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

The semi main event tonight was a rare singles match for Cooper Christie -- in fact, his first singles match in CWI -- and Dreadnought. Both men have been known for their team work. Cooper Christie as one half of the Texas Express -- the most popular duo in CWI whereas Dreadnought is one half of Bred for Battle -- which has been the most dominant tag team in independent wrestling over the past two years. They spent a year as CWI Tag Team Champions before winning the COTT World Tag Team Titles in October. They have been unstoppable as COTT World Tag Champs and are well on their way to setting the all-time record for defenses with the championship. The crowd was excited to see Dreadnought in action -- the first time since February and the son of the legendary Dread did not disappoint. He worked this match like a bull. He was all strikes and high impact slams and suplexes and Cooper was Texas fire -- the kind of fire that has been made famous in wrestling. That particular Texas brand of white-meat athletic, good-looking babyfaces that used to sell out arenas for the Texas Wrestling League. Dreadnought was nasty -- several of his shots were potatoes and it only helped his portrayal of this rough and tumble monster. At one point he hit a Running Powerslam that would have finished off most men -- but Cooper Christie was not most men. Christie made a big comeback that was punctuated by his cloud-kissing dropkick. Dreadnought powdered out and sought counsel with Andrew Gibson -- who would have thought -- someone actually taking coaching from their manager? Unfortunately for Dreadnought and Gibson, CWI was witness to a rare tope con hilo when the big, athletic Cooper Christie dove over the top rope, flipping onto the unsuspecting Dreadnought and even knocking Andrew Gibson onto the hard wooden floor. Dreadnought and Cooper brawled around ringside and neither made it back into the ring before referee Bret Graveson’s ten count -- thus rendering the match a draw.</span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Animal Harker versus Nate “the Great” DeMarcus ©</span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Last month, Animal Harker shocked the wrestling world, or at least Indianapolis’ wrestling fans, when he showed up to attack Nate DeMarcus. Many people were wondering why the hell Animal Harker was even in the building that night as he wasn’t booked to appear. It turns out, Animal Harker had been in Indianapolis to talk with the students at the No Ordinary Men wrestling academy -- being that Harker is a stalwart member of the NYCW roster and has been making regular trips to Japan for BCG -- he was giving a guest lecture on being a gaijin in Japan when he heard the offer made at the show and made his presence known. The wild-man was wild here. The crowd loved getting to hate Animal Harker and Nate looked like he found a new gear in his game. A little bit more showmanship perhaps. Animal, much like Titan, was big enough that he could believably bump the powerful Nate DeMarcus. He could put Nate in jeopardy and beat him to garner sympathy. It also helped that Nate came to the ring clearly favoring his neck -- it had only been two weeks since he got hit with the Stump Piledriver on the wooden floor and many questioned his willingness to defend tonight. Harker was trying to earn that $10,000 that Funky Fedora had put up and he worked more like the Harker that appears in BCG than the one in NYCW. He was his more physical, hard hitting self and the CWI faithful loved it. Nate took the beating and came back with offense of his own -- punctuated by his trademark Military Press Slam that he used to set up the </span></span></span><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><em>Snap Tackle</em></span></span></span><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> and getting his second defense of the Championship.</span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

In a bout that had fantastic heat and great wrestling, Nate DeMarcus defeated Animal Harker in 18:14 by pinfall with a Snap Tackle. Nate DeMarcus makes defence number two of the COTT Mid American title.</span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span></span><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-family:Georgia;"><span style="font-size:12px;">Nate DeMarcus held the Mid American Championship above his head. Giant Brody, Animal Harker’s tag team partner in BCG is here! He must have showed up with his friend and partner and decided that he is going to cash in on the bounty. A lot of my women work for CWWF and QAW now (particularly CWWF) and now CWWF runs their weekly TV on the same days that we run our Ladies Night (after the summer, we move Ladies Night to try to avoid that), which means that the main women's title couldn't really show up on the spotshows so the All Action title is there to give them a championship, a local attraction/draw. If that's my only criticism, it means that this diary is absolutely wonderful. <br /></li><li>The narrative pieces are the best part of this diary, and I hope you continue to do them. In fact, I hope you focus more of them! Some side stories that don't specifically revolve around in-game events. The meeting you did with your inner circle about everyone else in the COTT growing and CWI being left behind was one of my favorites. It showed amazing character for all those involved. I love love loved it. More please!<br /></li></ul><p></p><p> TLDR: freaking awesome work, keep it up, and whatever other cliche fits <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Seriously, the story you're telling is extremely entertaining my friend. I can't believe I let myself get so far behind!</p><p> </p><p> More Childish Gambino themes please!</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Thank you for reading and giving such detailed feedback. I also wish Ali stayed longer. I'm a big fan of Sayeed Ali and he was actually pencilled in to have a long run as the top heel for CWI.</p><p> </p><p> I love Childish Gambino as a musician -- but I don't love it taking you back to middle school. Makes me feel old.</p><p> </p><p> I fully plan on writing more narratives. There are a lot of, at least in my opinion, interesting things that happen between now and the end of the year that I want to highlight.</p><p> </p><p> Your criticism is a fair criticism. Part of that is an artistic choice, sure, but part of that is also trying to find a heel that I can afford and can stay around/have enough people built up to challenge. Though, I can say the era of the visiting heel is coming to a close here really soon and we should be settled back into having most of our matchups be localized/full time members and not the visiting members.</p><p> </p><p> Thank you both for your detailed thoughts and comments. They are always very welcome.</p>

<p>Well I’ve caught back up again. I have always really enjoyed your narratives as well. You are always able to fully immerse the readers into knowing who these men and women really are. </p><p> </p><p>

The spot shows are a great way to get some of the lower profile folks so matches and gives them a chance to build some of that all important momentum.</p><p> </p><p>

Also thanks for all the in game and forum formatting advice. I might disappear from time to time but I always enjoy your diaries when I get back online</p>

People love to use war as a metaphor for anything difficult. It’s an improper metaphor. An impure one. It bastardized the struggle of war. The risks. The suffering. It isn’t fair but that doesn’t change it is the most easily accessible metaphor. I felt like I was at war. Or maybe I was a ship captain whose ship was taking on water and you were trying to keep it from sinking. Or maybe I felt some other kind of way. I’m not sure. All I know is that I felt like we were drowning. CWA had pillaged the roster. They had used my roster to restock their developmental. They couldn’t even throw me any money. Anything. GSW took The Hangman and I had to figure out plans. The Hangman was supposed to have a big program over the summer.

Now it was happening again. FREEDOM and The Latino Kings -- six men pencilled in to have a huge program with one another, to have a violent and physical feud that stretched from the summer into the winter. It was going to elevate our six-man program to a whole new level. I

Now they were leaving. It had started with Xavi. Grimm had wanted Xavi and came with a big money offer -- but Cliff equalled it and Xavi chose to stay with Cliff exclusively. Then it was Jesus and Hector to GSW. Rudy to CZCW. Juggernaut and Marco to SWF and I was left with six holes left in the roster as we headed to the end of the summer. Holes I didn’t plan on plugging.

Add in that Steffi Chee and the Masked Mauler were finishing up at Railroad City Rumble and we were going to see some turnover. Chee and Mauler had been good members of the staff. Quality voices who helped elevate us, but I wanted to trim down to two agents and I was going with Rick and Grace. Steffi had been with me longer, but Grace was my gal. I couldn’t fire her. Couldn’t let her go. So I told Steffi she’d be finished up. Mauler was a similar reason. I liked Rick better and sometimes that mattered, but the locker room also liked Rick more -- and that made it better.

I looked down at the card in front of me. This was going to be a farewell card for many guys. Guys who were leaving. We were coming out of this much different. I was also worried because we had some written deals coming up in the fall. The Texas Express, Funky Fedora, and Lucy Stone-McFly had signed two year non-exclusive written deals with me when they first started. That was two years ago almost. Would they stay? Would they leave? 2023 had been a hell of a year and we still had so much more to go.

I also had to deal with some of the guys on the crew for the Edinburgh shows. They had had a year or more to impress so many of them were going to be gone after the September show. I was going to restock to give more opportunities. We had to prepare. We were slowly gaining popularity. We were regularly doing over a hundred people for our major shows. We were getting close to being comfortable but we weren’t there yet. I needed the fourth Railroad City Rumble to be a big deal. I needed it to be a success.

Haven't been as active as I would like, but I just wanted to say that this is by far my favourite dynasty going right now. Sucks about everyone leaving, but I'm sure Marv can rebuild the roster.

This is quite a big main event IMO. Brody is one of my favorites in the Cornellverse, but we're back in the fun pattern of bringing in big name outsiders for the champ to beat. Nate wins. I eagerly await the Thanos-esque promo from Funky of him coming to the realization that he's going to have to do it himself.

You've been building Stallion up nicely. I'd kind of love to see him get a run with the Indiana Title to see if he's viable for the top of the card, but Zippy and Mr. Grappling have unfinished business. Stallion will sadly have to wait.

<p>To the criticisms about the visiting heels, I think in comparison to the Climb and also the new game engine Historian has just had a really rough time with maintaining new stars.</p><p> </p><p>

I think he was a little slow on the trigger on guys like Zippy and it hit him a bit, he and Grappling need to be rotated up to the main event race and new guys fighting for that Indiana title, it’s been almost 2-3 years now.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

But the other big factors were losing a lot of main event guys when the company is still small like The Hangman and even Threepwood likely would’ve had a heel run had he not passed. Plus I have a feeling guys like James Diaz would be in the picture if they didn’t work for CWI like once every 4-5 months so I just think Historian is going to have to get real clever with his midcard.</p>

Nebo Martell versus Juggernaut Jones w/ Lucinda Lush

The big Juggernaut Jones had a match that he was supposed to win. It was supposed to be an easy win against the young Nebo Martell. Martell is only twenty years old and just completed his first full year in the business. He’s drawn a lot of early comparisons to the former Ace of TCW, Aaron Andrews and was coming into this match with four straight wins on the Edinburgh series and this was the first time he had a singles match on the main shows and he came out with something to prove. Juggernaut came out of the gate and wrestled the kind of match he would be expected to wrestle. Big, powerful, trying to assert his physical will on Martell. Martell surprised everyone; however, and weathered the storm and was actually able to take out the knee of Juggernaut Jones and lock in the move that Nebo calls the Inferno Special a terrible name for an otherwise fantastic submission (think the Fuller Leglock) that actually forced the big man, much to the ire of Lucinda Lusha, to submit.

In a decent match, Nebo Martell defeated Juggernaut Jones in 6:20 by submission with an Inferno Special.

Hoss Handley versus Kalder Tagg w/ Haley Buck

In May, Hoss Handley and his partner Samson Sharpe defeated Kalder Tagg and his brother Wolfie to win the tag titles. In June, The Taggs cost Texan Justice the tag titles in their very first defense. Then in July, last month, the Taggs stole a victory in a tag rematch from Texan Justice and now Kalder and Hoss were meeting in singles action. This match really surprised everyone with how good it was. The crowd is really into this angle, both men are major stars in CWI, both have connected with the audience for different but similar reasons. Kalder is big and rough and mean and will hurt you but also will cheat to win and Hoss is big and rough but friendly and affable and is the kind of cowboy you want to go have a beer with and listen to some Hank and Willie and share some laughs with. They kept the match short so neither man could be exposed from a pyschology standpoint and that worked to their benefit here. This definitely was not a catch-as-catch-can wrestling match. This was a fight between two big bull-of-the-woods types. Hoss hit a wicked discus lariat that almost won the match and Kalder Tagg needed an assist from Haley Buck and her moonshine to set up the Piledriver to get the win in a singles match.

In a bout that had fantastic heat and great wrestling, Kalder Tagg defeated Hoss Handley in 6:23 by pinfall with a Piledriver.

The Texas Express came to the ring with big smiles on their faces. They climbed in where Taylor Gordy was waiting for them -- the first time Taylor Gordy ahs gotten to conduct an in-ring interview in quite some time.

Gordy, “Cooper, Turk, I was told you guys have a big announcement that you want to make here tonight. What is it?”

Cooper, “We do have a big announcement, Taylor. One that might change the trajectory of me and Turks careers. An announcement that is going to put everyone on notice. An announcement that the crowd is going to love. Tell them Turk.”

Turk, “In October at Showdown in Naptown, we will officially be challenging Bred for Battle, or whomever is the World Tag Team Champions, for the COTT World Tag Team Titles.”

Cooper, “That’s right! Me and Turk have been wanting another match with Bred for Battle since February. We’ve wanted to prove to the world that we are the top tag team and the way to do that is to win the World Tag Team Titles and in two months -- at Showdown in Naptown -- we’re going to reach that goal and become World Tag Team Champions. We hope you guys will show up to support us!

The crowd cheered at the announcement and The Express made their way back to the locker room area.

The Hooligans versus Reece & Wells

We came out of the promo into the first of three women’s matches on tonight’s show. Reece and Wells were looking to rebound from their loss two months ago in the Women’s Tag Title match and the Hooligans were looking to jump start their CWI career with a big win here. This was a solid tag team affair that was built around the natural, sisterly instincts of the Hooligans and the veteran savvy of Reece & Wells (who have, shockingly, become veterans with seven years of experience in the sport). There was nothing fancy here, nothing to blow the roof of the joint but the match was designed to get the Hooligans over. Rumors have been swirling that Reece and Wells may be on their way out soon and this was clearly an opportunity for the two more-popular wrestlers to help establish the younger talent. Hannah got the win for her team when she forced Sabria Wells to submit to an arm-bar variation.

In a decent match, The Hooligans defeated Reece & Wells in 10:17 when Hannah Hooligan submitted Sabrina Wells.

Frankie Carmello versus Tzilla

The Columbian grappler Frankie Carmello and the Apache grappler Tzilla were both on the main show here. Carmello has been impressive in a lot of her singles matches while Tzillah as left a bit to be desired, but both women have a load of potential and this was a chance for them to get on the main show and showcase a bit of what they could do. This wasn’t a pretty match at all -- Tzilla wasn’t on top of her game and the Piledriver Wrestling graduate and friend of Wild Red Stallion never looked comfortable in this babyface-versus-babyface match up. Carmello looked more seasoned and looked like she could be inline to be featured more heavily in the future. Carmello hit her Triple Jump Moonsault for the win and the match was over without blowing a lot of people away but without being so bad that it hurt the fans feelings.

In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but sub-par wrestling, Frankie Carmello defeated Tzilla in 8:20 by pinfall with a Triple Jump Moonsault.

The Femme Fatales came marching to the ring. They wasted no time in grabbing a microphone.

Frost, “Last year, Talia and I set on a journey to become the first CWI Women’s Tag Team Champions. We went through the tournament. We got to the finals when we came up short because we weren’t on top of our game. We’d been travelling all over the world. We’d been proving that we are two of the elite female talents on the planet. Then we had our rematch and by fluke, we lost.”

Neema, “But that’s not good enough for us. We want a fair shake. A fair shake to win the Tag Team titles. So we’re officially challenging you for a match next month for the Tag Team Titles.

After a minute or two, The San Diego Girls arrive.

NWKmvgS.jpgHQ5UCnA.jpg

Izzy Quick took a microphone from Taylor Gordy.

Quick, “Talia, Urena, we respect you. We know you are a great team. Great wrestlers. Great competitors. We respect what you’ve been able to accomplish -- but we’ve beaten you twice. Once in the tournament finals. Once in a rematch that you earned. You haven’t earned another opportunity at us.”

The crowd cheers the logic, because, well, The Femme Fatales haven’t earned another title opportunity. That statement seemed to anger Talia Neema though.

Neema, “Earned another opportunity? Earned an opportunity. We’ve earned as many title opportunities as we want. We built this damn division. It’s because of Urena and I that there is a women’s division. It’s because of Urena and I that other female tag teams were brought in. It’s because of Urena and I that you got a shot up here to make yourselves famous, to get yourselves over and showcase what you can do. It’s because of us that the Women’s Tag Team Titles even got created -- not because of you. Us. But we understand if you’re too much of cowards to face again.”

The word coward seemed to strike a nerve with the San Diego Girls.

Malloy, “Cowards? Izzy and I are anything but cowards. We don’t back down from anything. You want a shot at our titles. Fine. We’ll give you one, but on one condition.”

Frost, “Name it!”

Malloy, “When we beat you, you won’t get another Tag Title shot so long as we are champions!.”

Frost and Neema put their heads to discuss and then come up with an answer.

Frost, “You’re on. Next month. The Femme Fatales versus the San Diego Girls. The Women’s Tag Team Titles. One last time. Shine those belts up for us. The Femme Fatales… The War Maidens… We’re coming for more gold.”

The Dog Soldiers versus American Gold

American Gold came into this match on a slump. They’ve had a rough near year since losing the Tag Team Titles to the Texas Express and last month they cost the Dog Soldiers the Tag Titles against The Dynamite Express. This match had bad blood between the two teams and it felt like a match between two teams with bad blood. The opening lock up was solid and forceful and right from the beginning of the match the crowd could tell that they were going to be in for a fast past, physical tag match. American Gold have been great heels. They are bully-wrestling heels with out being monster heels. They work holds and use suplexes and transitions, but they also grind their opponents face into the mat. They cheat, they control the ring. They put a little extra mustard on their strikes. Roger took the heat -- like he normally does. Roger’s strength is his selling. His ability to take a butt whooping and not die. He stays alive in his selling. He generates sympathy with his good looks and his use of hair flips and reaching out to the audience. American Gold hit all their trademark spots which used to make the crowd happy and now make the crowd boo. English whipped Monteiro towards the ropes and went for a big back body drop, but Monteiro managed to use the momentum from being elevated to turn his body towards Ace Youngblood and make the huge tag. The crowd was really behind the veteran Youngblood -- who came in with all of his trademark chops and elbows. He was really lighting both members of American Gold up and sent English into Chamberlain and Chamberlain made the tag. Youngblood still went to work on Chamberlain and hit him with several big impact moves before making the tag back to Roger so Roger could set up the Eagle Chop. English yanked Youngblood off the apron after he made the tag and the referee was distracted by their brawling and didn’t see Chamberlain reach into his tights to load his hand. He punched Roger Monteiro right in the jaw with the loaded fist and deposited whatever he had loaded his fist with back into his tights and he made the cover and got the three count.

In a bout that had fantastic heat and great wrestling, American Gold defeated Ace Youngblood and Roger Monteiro in 14:44 when Maliek Chamberlain pinned Roger Monteiro after using a foreign object.

In terms of in-ring work, Maliek Chamberlain was head and shoulders above everyone else.

Mr. Grappling versus Xavi Ferrera w/ Lucinda Lush

With Xavi Ferrera leaving CWI -- something that wasn’t hidden from the CWI audience, this was a farewell match but also a match designed to just be a great wrestling match -- and it was. It was a showcase of skill and let both men really shine. Grappling controlled the early portion of the match by wrestling Xavi to the mat and working a series of holds that were focused on the knees of Ferrera -- clearly setting up for the Figure Four that he has come to really favor. Xavi had to take the powder out of the ring and walked over to Lucinda to talk strategy with her. Lucinda told the referee to keep Grappling back and fed Xavi some advice before Xavi headed back in the ring. As soon as he got in the ring, Xavi took the shortcut of a straight right hand to the jaw of Grappling. That dropped Grappling and allowed Ferrera to seize control and work Grappling over. Xavi focused on the midsection. With Xavi’s preferred move being the High Impact Frog Splash, he was working to set it up. He even locked in a proper Abdominal Stretch and used the top rope for leverage. A classic spot that is seldom used these days. Grappling sold it like he was in a lot of pain and it added drama to the match. When Xavi got caught and was forced to break the hold he complained and heeled it up and Lucinda complained and heeled it up and it just worked. If Xavi was going to be here longer, these two could have had a great program against one another. Xavi hit several knees to the midsection before lifting Grappling high in the air for a suplex and then swinging him down and falling with him so Grappling landed chest first on Xavi’s knees. That got Xavi a near fall and also allowed Xavi to climb the top rope and come off for the High Impact Frog Splash. Grappling rolled out of the way and immediately took the opportunity to lock in a Figure Four Leglock and force the submission.

In an exceptional match, Mr. Grappling defeated Xavi Ferrera in 17:08 by submission.

"Dangerous Woman" Piper Hale versus Lucy Stone-McFly ©

Two months ago, Lucy Stone-McFly became the first two-time Women’s Champion in CWI history and regained her spot at the top of the mountain. This was her first attempted defense of the championship and she was up against the ultra-dangerous Piper Hale. Hale was violent and vicious and made for a great first defence for Lucy because Hale wasn’t as big as Sky but her brawl-heavy style and desire to hurt Lucy gave the crowd something different. Hale really sells her gimmick. She really tries to seem dangerous -- including trying to bring a chain into the ring and being stopped by Kessie Lee Walker. Stone-McFly took the beating and sold like she was supposed to sell and then made the big babyface comeback and hit some of her father’s moves, some of her uncles’ moves and even a few of her mother’s. LSM hit the Delorean Driver for the pin and made her first defense of the championship.

In a bout that had fantastic heat and great wrestling, Lucy Stone-McFly defeated Piper Hale in 11:35 by pinfall with a Delorean Driver. Lucy Stone-McFly makes defence number one of the CWI Women's title.

Lucy takes her championship from Kessie and looks like she’s about to head to the back when she’s interrupted by the arrival of her biggest rival so far in CWI.

qG46qME.jpg

Ashley Keith, a woman who has made Lucy Stone-McFly tap out, was standing in the entryway. Ashley was dressed to the nines. Ashley smirked at Lucy.

Ashley, “Congratulations, Lucy. Congratulations on a big title defense. It was very impressive. I know all of these fans in attendance were impressed. I came out here to talk about what’s happening. Now fellas, hold on. I know you like seeing a star like me, custom made like me, the total package like me, coming out here. I know that I’m not Yvonne Ericks and her funky t-shirts. I’m not The San Diego Girls and their bubble gum energy and stoner skater vibe. I’m not even Lucy Stone-McFly, the champ who is a great wrestler, a great wrestler, but isn’t me, she isn’t Ashley Keith. I mean, come on Lucy, look at me. In the words of so many men around the world, I’m just hot for days.”

Ashley Keith takes a moment to flex. To rub it in.

Ashley, “You’re not as good as me, Lucy. You don’t have my stamina. You’re not in the kind of shape I’m in. You don’t take yourself as seriously as a professional athlete as I do. You’re a hell of a wrestler, but I’m the real measuring stick in professional wrestling. I walked up to the building today and every man in a hundred yards was hollerin’ here comes the Boss and Bruce Springsteen wasn’t anywhere to be seen. I’m the woman. I’m what’s happening. But I don’t have something that I want. And that’s the Women’s Championship. The championship you just defended in a hell of a match. A hell of a match.”

Ashley reaches behind her and pulls out a manilla envelope. She holds the envelope out.

Ashley, “This envelope is the contract you and I originally signed before we started wrestling in January. It’s a seven match contract. Seven matches. By my count, we’ve only had four. We’ve got three more. And you’re the Women’s Champion now. So I say we finish this series. I say we prove to the world why I’m the best women’s wrestler on the planet and next month you and me, Women’s Title.”

Lucy finally gets a microphone handed to her.

LSM, “Ashley, I thought I had put to bed any debate between us. I thought when I beat you clean in the middle of the ring at Circle City Classic IV you recognized that you’re a great wrestler, one of the best, but that I was just a step better. You’re right though. We signed a seven match deal. We signed on to prove who is the better woman. To definitively prove and we haven’t done that yet. My mama and daddy didn’t raise me to back down from any challenge. I haven’t backed down from a challenge yet and I’m not about to start so you’re on! Next month, Ashley Keith. Lucy Stone-McFly. Once again. The Women’s Championship on the line this time. And when I beat you, I’ll have won the series and that will be that!

The Latino Kings versus The Dynamite Express ©

The second of four big title matches was next as the CWI Tag Team Championship was on the line against two fantastic, accomplished tag teams. Both teams have made names for themselves as being sensational units and both teams were looking to prove that they were the better team in this contest. This was a first-time match up for both teams, the kings of Puerto Rico versus the kings of the Mid Atlantic meeting for the first time in Indianapolis. This was also the third tag match of the night, but it was still different. The Latino Kings are two big rough brawlers who can wrestle and fly but look every bit the gangster part that they portray in the ring. They came out of the gate physical and asserted their will and it wasn’t until the Dynamite Express took a cheap shot by Syd Collier pulling down the top rope when Rudy was running towards it that the Express was able to seize control. Once they had control, they put on a clinic of controlling the ring. Syd and Cameron are both average sized guys who might not be able to succeed as singles competitors -- but together they were flawless. They just knew how to work an old school tag match. They isolated Rudy and really focused on his neck. They hit a series of neckbreakers. They worked a variety of headlock variations to try and force the submission but also to wear down Rudy. Syd hit a beautiful second rope legdrop where he landed right on the back of Rudy’s neck for a near fall. There was no wasted motion from the Express. They had a series of double team moves that focused on the neck -- including a wicked Double Brainbuster that had it not been for Hector Galdino making a rare-for-CWI save would have ended the match (remember, CWI has rules about how many times a team can make a save without being disqualified). Referee Bret Graveson was fantastic in this match. He had authority and enforced the rules and was out of position when he needed to be out of position but when Rudy made the hot tag to Hector, Bret sold it like it was an explosive tag and Hector came in with a flurry of offense -- including a beautiful Tornado DDT where he launched himself off of Cam Jones to hit Syd with the DDT. If The Latino Kings were leaving here, this was a match to go out on. The match broke down during the comeback and we got a little brawl with all four men in the ring. Graveson was able to regain control, but only after Cam Jones went to the eyes of Hector Galindo. Syd Collier crawled around the ring so he was on the outside behind Rudy and he grabbed and held Rudy’s legs while Cam hit the Fisherman’s Suplex on Hector for the three count and the second successful defense of the CWI Tag Team Titles.

In an exceptional match, The Dynamite Express defeated The Latino Kings in 13:38 when Cam Jones pinned Hector Galindo with a Fisherman's Suplex. The Dynamite Express make defence number two of the CWI Tag Team.

Rudy Velasquez carried the match in terms of in-ring performance.

Wild Red Stallion versus "The Hillbilly Outlaw" Zippy Deverell ©

The Indiana Heavyweight Championship match up was a hotly contested and anticipated affair. Zippy Deverell regained the Indiana strap in June and this was his first defense. Wild Red Stallion has been on a roll in singles competition and it looks like the rocket has been strapped to him. Some fans online have wondered about Zippy’s slow growth, but a lot of that has had to do with skill development. Zippy came into CWI as a rookie that was greener than grass. Four years later, he has started to develop into a consistent in-ring performer and a show-stealing performer on the microphone and it definitely looks like he’s being primed for an even bigger spot on the card in the coming months. He has been the breakout performer of the CWI originals and this match with Wild Red Stallion felt like a match that could headline a Circle City Classic somewhere down the line. The crowd was into everything these two men did. Zippy has really evolved from just a hillbilly heel into an outlaw, a pro wrestling Billy the Kid -- with a smattering of fans who appreciate his skill but his ability to be a bad guy, to cheat, to bend the rules, allowing him to stay firmly entrenched on the heel side. Wild Red Stallion has also been showing more character. He was originally just portrayed as a pro wrestling stereotypical Native American. The headdress that goes for any Native American -- regardless of whether or not their tribe wore one. For this match, his first singles championship opportunity, he came out like a full blown Blackfoot Lakota Warrior. He looked like a big deal and it helped tell the story of the contest. Stallion was bigger and stronger than Deverell -- and he was highly motivated to win -- so he came out with power and explosiveness and Deverell started off the match taking big bumps that sent him rocking around the ring and sent him out of the ring and into the crowd trying to get away from Stallion. Deverell finally came back into the ring and he scratched and clawed and bit and started pulling out every rule-bending but not immediate disqualification technique that he knew. He went for the eyes. He was that extra little bit of nasty that helped showcase that he was a man possessed by a dire to retain his championship. Wild Red Stallion mounted a big comeback though. Unlike his Dog Soldier teammates, Wild Red Stallion’s comeback isn’t focused on chops but power moves -- including a ring-rattling Running Powerslam that looked like it should have killed Zippy Deverell. Deverell has the heel-selling-for-a-comeback art down perfectly. He made everything that Stallion did look more impactful. He made it look like Stallion was really putting the hurt on him and the crowd was fully behind the big Lakota. Zippy got a moment’s reprieve and he crawled to the corner and slid out of the ring where he reached under it. He had the glove, the Coal Miner’s Glove, his Daddy’s glove! He slid back in the ring and went to slide it on his hand as the referee was checking Wild Red Stallion -- who had suffered a shot right to the throat. As Zippy went to put the glove on his hand, his arm was grabbed. It was Mr. Grappling! He was refusing to let Zippy put on the glove. Zippy’s eyes went wide as Grappling pulled the glove from him and hopped off the ring apron. Deverell turned around and got lifted high into the air and brought into the Lakota Cutter and Wild Red Stallion was the new Indiana Champion.

In a bout that had fantastic heat and great wrestling, Wild Red Stallion defeated Zippy Deverell in 10:08 by pinfall with a Lakota Cutter after a distraction from Mr. Grappling. Wild Red Stallion wins the CWI Indiana title.

Giant Brody versus Nate "the Great" DeMarcus ©

It was time for the main event. The big bruiser from Black Canvas Grappling, Giant Brody was here to collect on the ten thousand dollars and he was here to put Nate DeMarcus down and to win the Mid American Championship. The big man who has made a name for himself by being a big nasty bastard in Japan with wild brawls and surprising agility was at the top of his game here. He jumped Nate before Nate even had a chance to prepare and the match immediately got wild. This wasn’t a normal Nate DeMarcus’ match that stayed in the ring. Brody pulled DeMarcus out and they fought around the ringside. That was Brody’s style. Jez McArthur, the senior CWI official, gave the two men a lot of leeway. This was a Championship match and he wanted this match to end in the ring with a clean finish so he let them brawl. They did come back into the ring and Brody continued to put the hurt on Nate DeMarcus, including a Sidewalk Slam that looked like it broke Nate’s back. Nate took the beating from Brody. His third match in a row of being up against a big, bruising monster. He was clearly slower than he normally is. His body was clearly feeling the effects of this war. The missteps of most modern pro wrestling are in the long-term selling and Nate was selling here. His neck from the Stump Piledriver in June and the battle with Titan and then the physical match up with Animal Harker, Brody’s tag team partner last month. Brody took advantage of all of this and Nate just took the beating. The fans know he doesn’t just work here -- he’s still a prominent part of MAW -- he’s on their WrestleWorld show every week. They know that he’s not given his body time to heal and when Brody hit a Sit Out Powerbomb and Jez McArthur went down for the three, fans were certain that this was hit. Brody had dethroned Nate DeMarcus, but somehow, someway, Nate DeMarcus kicked out. He dug down to wherever a man digs down and he kicked out. Brody looked beside himself and looked like he was setting up a Chokeslam and that’s when Nate DeMarcus came alive. That’s when he began his comeback. That’s when he fought through his pain to somehow send Brody flying across the ring with a big Overhead Belly to Belly Suplex that brought the people to their feet. Nate hit a couple of short clotheslines -- not full lariats and then Nate found a way to lift Brody high in the air, high above his head. He held him there and then let him fall to the mat with a huge press slam. Brody hit the mat and bounced up and as he bounced up, Nate hit the ropes and flew into him with a Snap Tackle that took Brody’s head off. The big man flipped inside out and landed in a heap on the mat and Nate made the cover and made his third straight defence in a very physical war.

In an exceptional match, Nate DeMarcus defeated Giant Brody in 15:18 by pinfall with a Snap Tackle. Nate DeMarcus makes defence number three of the COTT Mid American title.

The match was over. This battle one. Nate took his championship and stood in the ring. A battered champion. Bruised and showing the signs of what he has gone through to stay champion. He demanded a microphone and rose a hand to silence the crowd. He spoke with labored, just-fought-a-war, breaths.

DeMarcus, “A couple of months ago, Funky Fedora came out to this ring and he put a bounty on my head. He told the wrestling world that he had ten thousand dollars to anyone who could take me out of wrestling -- and they’ve been trying. Titan. Animal Harker. Half the MAW locker room. And now Giant Brody. They’ve tried Funky, and they’ve all failed. I’m still standing. I’m still here. I’m still the Mid American Champion and I’ve realized that CWI just isn’t big enough for me and you. There will never be peace so long as you and I are here. So we’re going to solve this. I told CWI management before this match. I told the COTT Championship Committee so that they would approve…”

DeMarcus took a deep breath.

DeMarcus, “Next month, it’s going to be me and you Funky Fedora. COTT Mid American Championship on the line. Winner leaves with the title, loser leaves CWI. Sign the papers and meet me here at the Fountain Square Theatre next month and let’s solve this damn thing once and for all!”

DeMarcus threw down the microphone and left to a chorus of cheers.

Championship Wrestling from Indianapolis returns to the Fountain Square Theatre the third week of September for Battle at the Crossroads. After months of back and forth battles, it looks like we will finally solve Funky Fedora and Nate DeMarcus' rivalry will culminate. After Battle at the Crossroads, one man will be Mid American Champion and the other will be out of CWI.

The Taggs and Texan Justice will meet in a Bunkhouse Tag Match. It promises to be violent and wild and which team will leave with the win -- and more than likely a Tag Team Title shot?

Ashley Keith and Lucy Stone-McFly will clash for the fifth time in their Best of Seven series. Lucy Stone-McFly currently lead the serious with two wins while Ashley Keith has one win and they went to a time limit draw once. With the Women's Title also on the line, will Ashley Keith tie Lucy? Will they once again go to a draw or will Lucy take a commanding lead with three wins?

Plus we see the debuts of Jason Chipolata and Anthony Trask AND the Women's Tag Team Titles will be on the line in what could be the Femme Fatales finally shot at the Tag Titles.

See that’s a smart way to get someone over, we’ve been trained to assume who will win the opening match of shows. It’s usually the person(s) who have a history or something. But the “Next Big Thing” Nebo Martell shows his fire and takes down a Juggernaut. With FREEDOM being stolen, I wonder what will happen to Lucinda Lush. She’s losing all her clients, maybe she’ll take a look at Martell.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I appreciate the praise for giving Nebo the win. I really like Nebo and I hope that he has big things in store for him. He came into the game after Aaron Andrews' career ended. He's a regened AA (hopefully I made that clear) and hopefully, he turns into close or even half of the performer that Ace was for TCW. FREEDOM leaving was heartbreaking (technically Marco hasn't left yet, but he has accepted the offer from SWF). I have things planned for Lucinda in 2024 -- I gave her a vacation for the rest of the year as I tried to get things in line for who her next client(s) are.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="47530" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Texan Justice need to live up to their name and get some Justice! I think I struggled with that at first and that it was just a division built around matches but I think with the Femme Fatales, The SDG, Lucy, and Ashley plus Yvonne and Black Diamond we've started to build characters and personalities and stories, etc. Hopefully it continues.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="47530" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>The main thing the tag team match did for me was enforce the rules and gets Bret Graveson over. I had a lot of fun in the Climb with Riley McManus-Spencer Spade and really all of Riley's stuff, but I was also learning how to present for a diary in that so some of the stuff didn't get developed like these two. Grappling and Zippy's feud was designed -- and has worked -- in elevating both men in the fans' eyes to bonafide stars. They got to go away from each other for a few months while Zippy dealt with the Hangman and Mr. Grappling built himself with the Indiana belt and now they come back together to finally, hopefully, end the thing... Or end it for now.</p><p> </p><p> Funky and Nate has been a lot of fun because it has also allowed me to build Funky into a top heel -- even with people not liking his name! I love the name Funky Fedora. It's a classic heel name! I'm glad their program is resonating.</p>
