Just capped off a great year long storyline.

Mainstream Hernandez has been my #1 heel for all of 2022. He started the year by winning the RCI over Kip Keenan, and quickly formed his Mainstream Mafia stable with Julian Watson as his lieutenant and Chip Martin and Ash Campbell as his tag team back up.

By April, Mainstream defeated Davis Wayne for the championship, and he went on to put together an undefeated streak, beating guys like Miller Fforde, Riley McManus, Ant Man, and Nakayana. He was super cocky, and when Kip Keenan won a #1 contender match, he ran him down by saying he started the year by beating him, and there's no way he would lose. Well, spoiler alert, when they actually fought, he was so overconfident that he lost, actually tapping out to Keenan's ankle lock.

That was October. Over the course of November and December, Mainstream started to lose it, not accepting that he lost and blaming his stablemates for letting him down.

Meanwhile, the faces that Mainstream had run through over the year were sick of him and his cheating stable. Wayne, Ant-Man, McManus, and Nakayana united and vowed to end the Mafia. They fought in an 8-man tag in November, but the match went to an indecisive time limit draw. With Night of Champions coming up as the season finale, they decided to do a best 2/3 series. If the Mafia won, none of the faces would get to challenge for a title for the next year. If the faces won, the mafia would have to disband.

Night of Champions comes around, and the first match is Ant Man and Riley vs Chip and Ash. Ant-Man and Riley take it. The next match is Nakayana vs Julian. Youth vs experience. Traditionally, Watson would have to take this win to force the deciding match to be the last one. Instead, I had Nakayana win and decide the series then and there.

Before the final match, Mainstream grabs a mic and says that he knows they lost. The Mafia was done, but he had still had to fight for his pride. He and Wayne went out and put on a hell of a match, with Wayne winning. Hernandez looked dejected, did the traditional nod of respect thing, and left.

I'm thinking of using this to turn Mainstream face over the next year. Only problem with that is my face roster would have most of the stars. I've got a heel champ that will reign for a while (Nelson Callum beat Kip for the belt) but I still want more heel stars and Mainstream is a top one.

So I'm totally in love with this game. I made a test event with MAW (like a road to the Rip Chord Invitational kind of) and I've got a 31 score. I was running the event with a TEW 2016 mentality :(.

Then, I've made another run, changing everything, more detailed style booking and an in depth reading of the Handbook and score a 42. Then, at the Rip Chord Invitational event itself I've got a 47. But, more importantly, I'm so happy with the booking of both events. I'm really enjoying everything right now :D.

I really like The Architect, and The Wolf Pack is an amazing team.

Booking an indie company like MAW is so much fun! So many different avenues for storytelling. And, since you're not a major company always getting 80+ grades, seeing the match grades rise over time makes it worth it :)

So I'm headed into 2023 and growing slowly but surely (by design, I'm not actively trying to get to Medium ASAP). I currently run 21 events, just about 2 a month.

I'm debating which better fits the MAW ethos: Adding more events and moving them all over their territory as a bit of a road show or doing a 4-taping studio TV show. I'm kinda inclined to the events, but wanted to see what other MAW folks think.

So after a couple of (in-game) months I wasn't really happy with my approach to how I was booking MAW. I was booking/writing the shows more like an NXT type of thing, and now I want to write them as a more old-school era of wrestling, 80's Mid South Championship Wresting to be precise.

So, as I'm watching episodes of that era, I've created/edited (use stock pics for the most of them :p) some logos. If anyone is interested in using them go ahead!

So question for you guys running MAW....I want to run with MAW because I think it has great potential to be a lot of fun...but only booking PPVs month to month just doesn't do it for me.... Does editing the database and adding a TV show ruin the spirit of the company? Does it make sense for this company to have a TV deal?

I was thinking of creating a Broadcaster called 'Mid Atlantic Sports Network' which shows local sports in the region on cable w/commercials and therefore has 'Tiny' exposure in the Mid Atlantic and NONE everywhere else. Then putting a 1-hr a week TV show in the Late Night (Whichever one comes before Graveyard)...Tape two shows to cut down on costs....Is this even conceivable? Any tips to keep this balanced would be fantastic. I am brand new to MAW.

I say wait until March when WrestleWorld debuts and put a weekly show there.

However, if you want to go the small regional broadcaster route it is do-able (and doesn’t kill the spirit of the company) to produce a weekly tv show. Just rely on the TCW developmental guys to cut worker costs down (since you don’t pay them) and your younger talent. TV costs can drastically increase your wage bill so using cheaper workers is going to be necessary.

The only thing is you have to crank up production values like crazy. Is it possible to be profitable at that rate?

<p>Hey guys, Im looking for gimmick ideas for these three TCW graduates:</p><p> </p><p>

Angel Hunt has a fun name. He is a "Bully" & cant do Weasel/Underdog gimmicks.</p><p>

<img alt="9b8fb6741090dc4da750f218e3472645.png" data-src="https://i.gyazo.com/9b8fb6741090dc4da750f218e3472645.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Jeremy Reichsteiner's a fun one. Hes Hispanic American but obviously his name doesnt exactly scream that. Hes a Bulky Middleweight but is more Technician/High Flyer than Brawler. I love it. I was thinking of just ripping off Steiner.</p><p>

Eric Backlund. Nothing crazy interesting about him besides the fact that hes a Skinny Light Heavyweight wrestler.</p><p>

Aside from this. Im running MAW, I obviously grabbed a 1hr show on WrestleWorld. Miller Fforde won my RCI. I cut Ade/Cheetah/Josh for being over 30. Anyone over 30 can only wrestle one more event for us then they are cut. We will also not invite COTT challengers if they are over 30. We are adamantly U30. I turned off alignments, of course. My only other big change I want to do is add a womens division but theres no room or need for that just yet. I'd also like to open back up a MAW school with fluid classes and slowly upgrade it over time. It'll give us a steady supply of homegrown workers.</p>

The popularity gains you'll have and the increased revenue will help -- and really, as long as you meet wrestleworld's basic production you don't have to jack them up higher. And the WW production values aren't too hard to hit. It costs a bit more, but as long as the industry and economy aren't tanking, you'll be fine.</p><p> </p><p> You'll want to continue to feature the TCW developmental guys as they will be free and will be a great asset with a TV deal -- because you can use them on all four shows (if you're block scheduling, which is how I would do it with MAW, because then you save on production costs, building costs, and travel) without paying them at all and then can cycle in your other talent so they each work one show in the set of TV tapings (maybe more for your extra cheap guys).</p>

It makes it a lot more interesting. I usually do the same, with one exception. I'll allow an over-30 if they were a Bootcamp grad and don't work anywhere else. They become the 'veteran' of the crew (like Mean Jean was). They are usually the only exception, everyone else 030 is out the door.</p>

I'm a couple of years into my idea of starting a dojo and activating young lions, and it's made the game terrificly fun. I've got excursion deals going with WLW and APW, and I typically send my young lions away once they reach the 22 exp range. One of the wrestlers from my first class is inching toward the world title on one of my brands, and I'm about t get back two guys that WLW paired up and are looking like my future tag stars (over The LA Stars, who are my current...stars).

I definitely recommend everyone running a game like this for MAW. Now that I'm the #1 promotion in the world, there's no where for wrestlers to graduate to like Rip Chord intended, so this is the thing that makes the most sense to me in keeping with that tradition.
