Yeah, the first time I tried I felt so free with it. I always felt like I had to make real world workers very believable, The Rock is going to have catch phrases, etc. But when I started on this, it felt like an open canvas. Anyone can do anything, and you can tell your stories without having anymore added weight than what is in their little information box.

But.... you get to know them after a while, and start doing the same with them as you would with real world workers. The fun part is when a new generation of the game comes out and we get new (canonized) workers to play with.

If you like historical mods, two C-Verse mods are in the making by Derek (97') and Mr. T Jobs To djthefunkchris (that 70's mod-1977?) mods. I really love them both, but DOTT was my favorite real world mod for years... until D. Boon's Ghost stopped making them. I honestly tried to bring it back one time, but couldn't capture that magic his crew had with it. Genadi's mod based in the 80's is very similar, with a little less kafabe, and a bit more realism. Both try to capture the magic of the time period, which is the best time period in wrestling history ever, attitude era pails to it very much so, not even ruthless aggression can overcome the power of Hulkamania!:p:p:p

Anyways, back to topic, if you're enjoying the C-Verse, I promise you will enjoy those two mods as well.

FYI - Sounds like there will be a 70's mod for TEW 2020.

I think where the confusion comes in terms of "bloody match types" is that "bloody" isn't a term with much relevance elsewhere in the game, as there's no road agent notes or anything to say "this match contains blood" or "this worker bled during this match". So it's up to interpretation.

So to say there were bloody match types in the Ruthless Aggression era is sort of true, but what it really means is that there were bloody matches. Eddie Guerrero bled massively in a match against JBL, but that was "just" a regular singles match. John Cena bled buckets against JBL in an I Quit Match, but there have been countless WWE I Quit matches where not a drop of blood was shed.

The best way to emulate that might be to create duplicate versions of those matches of varying degrees of risk - e.g. I Quit (High Content Risk) and I Quit (Low Content Risk) - and combine that with relevant Match Aims.

I've been watching the Ruthless Aggression era and I'd call the matches 60-40 (tv) / 80-20 (events). There's bloody match types all over the place. That's what I really want to be able to simulate.

Classic Wild West is pretty close to this

70-30 tv

85 - 15 events

- fans will accept any match type

- each show will need at least one match aimed as hardcore

All a really good point, I particularly like the effort that's gone into the backstories. It means I have no preconceived notions about who to push. I do love historical mods, I'll check them out if and when they arrive for 2020 :) thank you! I'm loving my time in the C-Verse ATM. Reminds me of years ago when I was playing EWD (yep, been around that long!) with a custom promotion. I also have a former real-world mod by someone here in TEW 2016 where I've run on so long that my fed is largely regens, which I really enjoyed.

FWIW I already do this. The default War Games match in WCW Lives was set to be hardcore based instead of brawl based, and it's content ended up too risky for one of my broadcasters, so I had to clone it and tweak. I don't think altering match types like that is unrealistic.

Yup - look at real life. The early WarGames were bloody brawls, the mid-90's were blood free because of Turner, and now we have the wacky NXT WarGame matches.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how much more variety in the matches the AI is now capable of? I was going through the results of an IPW show (I was playing CZCW) and one of them was a 3 on 3 Tables match. And I'm like, "Wait, that's not even in the default database, is it?!?"

I love this and hate this because now I'm seeing way too many cage and ladder matches as an example. With the Wrestling Nerd Nirvana product I'm seeing 2-3 specialty matches per TV episode, that's just tough to swallow. There needs to be some "special"-ness to it.

Really hope those new interfaces fix the game. I legit can't play without starting to get a headache. The angle screen still needs to be fixed on several levels.

Please add someway to sort workers & non-workers on it, please add a view button next to the workers, please make it easier to find tag team info!

Each time I try to do something, I get slogged in B.S that 2016 did so much better.

I really want to like this game. Please help me like it!

Tbh I’ve already gone back to 2016. Right now it really feels like the superior game. And it’s not just the UI.

I've been throwing around the idea of going back to 2016. I want to like 2020 so badly, it has some really cool additions. Right now I seriously can't play it. I try playing & get incredibly annoyed with just the sheer lack of flow that it seems to have. It just constantly is stopping me from enjoying myself.

I know the main screen is getting fixed, that is a huge help!

The angle screen & even the main screen when booking shows are still really bad though.

I know they are still working on things. I hope they change the booking screen back to how 2016 had it. Remove those awful side buttons that move segments. Bring back the 2016 style buttons.

Also, please don't tell me that's not possible due to the new control style or something like that.

If that's the case, I will just stick with 2016 out of spite for the new controls.

I found the same - some screens actually made me quite dizzy.

The screenshots of the new UI look better; this skin made a huge difference to me if you want to play in the meantime - http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=546505

Yeah, I like this one a bunch. I use it & it helps.

Doesn't fix the terrible angle screen though.

That thing has problems that no skin can fix.

TEW 2016 is a really solid release and a solid video game. So I don't mind at all going back to it. It feels like a breeze. I've never gone backwards in this series, but this was the firs time that I felt that maybe the prior release just fits me better. That also has to do with me being more fond of sandboxing, and 2020 hasn't felt like lending itself to sandboxing quite as well as 2016. Not yet anyway. I'm willing to wait and see how 2020 looks like on official release, though. However, going back to 2016 is not a bummer, it has aged really well.

Yes! Yes! Yes!

Seriously, you nailed it. The game doesn’t flow at all. It’s a jumbled mess in my opinion. 2016 is clearly the better option for those that want a more polished and refined booking experience.

Same here. I've been playing these games for over a decade, and there's always a learning curve; that's fine. But the design, the booking, the pushes and the ridiculous product system is all so user unfriendly this will be the first GDS game in a decade I won't buy.

You're absolutely right! 2016 is a rock solid game. It's the reason we have all sunk thousands of hours into it.

I seriously may go back to 2016 as well. It feels like putting on a warm blanket while laying in bed on a cold winter day.

Just such a nice thing to look at compared to 2020.

Doesn't feel like such sensory overload either.

I just can't put my finger on why 2020 makes me feel so claustrophobic when playing.

I feel like I'm barely able to focus on it. Everything is on the screen at once, it's overload of info & maybe I'm just old or something. Doesn't feel good though.

"so user unfriendly" That right there completely explains how I feel about the game.

Like you so perfectly said, "the design, the booking, the pushes and the ridiculous product system" is exactly what's wrong..... Everything. Everything is wrong with the game. Those are some of the most important things to the game & it's just "so user unfriendly."

Going from 2013 to 2016 was a breeze, everything clicked just fine. 2020 Is a slog just to find out who is in a tag team without needing to go to the specified tag team screen. Why is it so hard to find that info on any other screen?

Why was the game going to release without a search option on the angle booking screen?

Now with the update it still isn't done right. You focus so hard on the new push system, you didn't take into account the fact that I don't want to have to figure out if Billy Kidman or Dean Malenko are road agents or wrestlers in 2005 because they are being shown when trying to book an angle. I want to refine my search for IN RING wrestlers only please. Why is that so hard to do?

2013 had that option, 2016 had that option. Why is the new game missing such a simple feature that the last two games had?

I'm so tired of looking at 2020.... I can't pretend to be nice about it anymore, this is in no way a shot towards Adam or the people that worked hard on the game as people. But you know you blew it when you make me want to go back to a technically inferior game like 2016. I'm not knocking 2016, I love 2016. I'm just saying I'm the kind of person that really can't go backwards on games like these. I only like to play the newest version. But the game is so frustrating, it makes me want to go back to the loving embrace of 2016.

EDIT: People may come in & tell me it's not so bad, but I have to disagree. You may love it, and that's awesome! I myself though, find this entire thing to be pretty unplayable.

I feel like I'm constantly being fought when trying to play.

2016 felt like it was working with me, 2020 feels like it's working against me the entire time.

<p>Yeah I have to agree unfortunately.</p><p> </p><p>

I have tried to like 20 but I just can't. I never played 16, I was always EWR > TEW05 > TEW13 and I have never had any issues with those games bar a few hiccups here and there with 05. I was always able to maintain a steady flow and like Football Manager, I could lose an entire day playing it and not realise.</p><p> </p><p>

With 20, there are so many features that I do like but I don't think I can justify the price for those features alone. For me, it's not user friendly and the booking side of things feels so sluggish compared to booking with TEW13. I also don't think I could purchase at launch due to the lack of good real world mods. The CVerse just doesn't interest me, I have tried to enjoy it but it's just not for me. The characters are ok I guess but I can't get invested in them to justify a long term save. I've already exhausted the beta with TCW and SWF and I didn't enjoy it.</p><p> </p><p>

I think at this stage I am more likely to purchase 16 if there are enough changes to justify the purchase in comparison to 13. </p><p> </p><p>

I just hope that in a years time there will be enough improvements made to 20 and enough quality working real world and historical mods for me to justify the price. Right now it's just a bit of a let down <img alt=":(" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/frown.png.e6b571745a30fe6a6f2e918994141a47.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

I am going to try and do another 3 months with one of the mods in BETA for historical time and see if I can be swayed, if not then I'll either stock with 13 or jump to 16</p>

<p>I don't think there is anything wrong with voicing your opinion, as long as it is done respectfully (which, personally, I think you have).</p><p> </p><p>

The game won't improve if it's just all sunshine and rainbows in here. It's perfectly acceptable to state the how and why of why you aren't willing to make the jump to 20.</p><p> </p><p>

People are allowed to like/not like it and say why. As long as everyone on both sides can do that respectfully without it turning into personal attacks or violating TOS, I think it's a useful discussion.</p>

I genuinely don't see an issue with the new push system or booking. Screen design? Sure. I hate the segment move arrows. What do you think is wrong with the push system? </p><p> </p><p>

Product System for me is always going to be one of those things that people go back and forth over. I personally don't care about custom products, but I get why some people might. The thing is, wasn't it always known that this was going to be the way it is?</p><p> </p><p>

If it doesn't work for you, great. But people keep hammering the same points. Surely it becomes repetitive at some point?</p>
