Teemu isn't arguing the definition of Occasional or how people as players see the role, he's explaining how it works as a game mechanic.

You mentioning an organizational standpoint has definitely resonated with me. I'm still at a point where I'm undecided on TEW 2020. I am optimistic for the upcoming design changes, and definitely think that there are some good new features, but the game hasn't clicked for me yet. I think a lot of that is about the fact that my old ways of organising things in my head no longer match the organisation/processes of the game.

Now, this tends to happen to me once per year when Football Manager comes out. I dislike the UI or some change that has been made when I first play the game, then after getting used to it, I stop caring or even like the feature that I instinctively disliked. A lot of that is a result of me wanting improvements - which fundamentally change the game - and then wanting to be able to play the game in my head as if it was the old one (just magically better, without any knock on effects for the bits that I'm used to).

There have been some games that really grow on me, once I get my head around how they are played/organised, that I took quite strongly against in advance. I love Football Manager, but I tend to hate it for a few days every year. Then again, some games that I expect to love never grow on me.

I guess what I'm trying to say is - I can't really commit to a viewpoint on the game at the moment - because I don't think I've got me head around it organisationally yet.

Maybe I will "get it" very soon. Maybe I won't. That being said, take anything I say with a whole bucket of salt, because I bet my opinions on nearly everything will change a hell of a lot over the coming weeks.

It's really tough man.... I'm not someone who wants to find things that bother me. I know games change & things improve. I don't like that I feel old or out of touch for not knowing how to move around the screens easily. I don't like thinking that I just don't get the new U.I & the removed/changed features are considered "great" by other people. I feel like I'm too stupid to get the design changes.

In my head, it just makes sense to have the angle screen with search options like Wrestlers & non-wrestlers, that way I can find things easier. Also to have a view button next to the wrestlers in the segment so I can see details about them.

The storyline booking screen should have at least a "view roster" button so I can book it on the storyline creation screen.

The tournament screen should take me directly to the regular booking screen so I can book everything neatly, or at least give it a "view roster" button so I can see who I want to use in the tournament easily.

Tag teams shouldn't be a mystery to find. I should be able to see who he tags with on his bio screen without needing to click a bunch of windows in order to find it. Heck! The angle screen should have a stable & tag refinement option! Only showing the people in those teams so it's easier to find everyone.

I don't play C-verse, so I don't know all of the characters. You know how hard it is to search out a Japanese tag team & then needing to remember both of their names so I can book them in a segment? Try doing that with two or three teams! It makes me feel stupid, maybe I am stupid! But the game should help me not feel so dumb!

It's purely for the AI.

Hmm. Well, if that's how it's meant to be used I suppose. I concede on that. It's not the hill I have any interest dying on. That's how it's meant to be used. I'll just accept that Taker & Cena will always be on my top section for wrestlers when booking shows.

If I were to play modern day WWE, I'd just have guys like Cena and Taker on vacation for everything except Mania season.

It's crossed my mind. Feels like it defeats the point for how 2016 had them, but again, this is something that I'll just need to get used to. If I sent them on vacation then that means I couldn't randomly bring them back for a special appearance or mid-year ppv match though. It doesn't matter though. It is, what it is.

Put them on vacation for like a month at a time. Month or two. It doesn't always have to be six months at a time, so you can change your mind. Make a text file for yourself where you type in an amount of dates for each part timer. Then make it your self imposed challenge to stick to those. I always do stuff like this myself.

It says it let's the AI know that they are "Part-Time OR soon-to-retire", not and. I can't tell what the AI will do after the three months, but I feel like the game can definitely put Lesnar, Taker, and Cena all as Part-Time wrestlers, and utilize them for years as such, depending on other stats. I can't test this yet, but I don't think putting them as "Part-Time" dooms them to retirement in a few months.

Ye, I seem to remember it being worded differently in another handbook, but I only have 2016 and 2020 installed on this computer. It may also be that I'm thinking of a forum post made by someone. Point being that it's not very important for human players.

Yeah, I think I remember something in prior releases, not sure.

As you know, I can't test this, but I believe Maturity/Decline/Relevancy/ and especially Retirement will all have an effect on how long they will stay active even if it's only as occasional. At least that's what seems to be the intent.

Also, a worker getting too unhealthy in any area (0%) will retire, no matter what.

You can have them contracted only working major shows with the "Special Attraction" role. They won't complain too much about being left off PPVs.

A bigger issue is when road agents can win battles for promotions because they're major stars, even if they've not been on screen at all.

Absolutely true! That doesn't seem right whatsoever. I think that needs to be addressed.

Also, I feel like I shouldn't be expected to find ways around the system in order to make someone actually occasional.

TEW contracts don't replicate that (and it would probably be way too much of a hassle to code in, because real life contracts include house shows and all that and guys, at least in WWE have a downside guarantee and all that).</p><p> </p><p> TEW attempts to reconcile that with the special attraction feature in a contract. You tell a guy they're a special attraction and their morale won't be effected(at least not heavily) by not being on shows and there is still the occasional wrestler tick box -- even if it is meant for the AI to know that a worker is nearing retirement it also helps with any sort of morale hit you're worried about from that aspect).</p>

To go a step further, if you sign them as a special attraction instead of making it so they can only work events (correct me if I'm wrong doesn't that prevent them showing up in angles?) Sign them for X amount of dates. So for Undertaker he is on a year long contract for say five appearances, this will be the four Raw or Smackdown's prior to Wrestlemania and Wrestlemania itself. Lesnar would have more of course, the max dates you can sign someone for is 25, which I think would equate to bringing Lesnar in for five months out of the year, which is more then he normally does. Plus listing him as a special attraction which allows him to not getting annoyed not showing up every week. Cena would be somewhere in between Undertaker and Lesnar currently.

AI booking seems to be pretty repetitive. I've been running a quick observer game, just to get a preview for how the AI behaves in general. I'm in week 3 in March and ,just as an example, Charlotte faced Naomi in all seven of her matches

AI booking in general has improved in many ways. Yet the repetitveness and randomess is a bit concerning. It's not uncommon at all for Micarders to beat Main Eventers or for Main Eventers to go on unrealistically long losing streaks</p>
