TCW Discussion Thread

I have sooo much trouble booking Hocking and Flynn to be anything more than losers. I just don't get their gimmicks really. Flynn is a muscle who isn't menacing in the least bit. Shocking Matt Hocking has all the feels of an 80s jobber.

What's your secret?

Haha. I haven't given Flynn or Hocking pushes yet but Flynn was doing well enough with like no pop that it's clear he'll be an easy #2 in the syndicate once he starts getting those wins. I wanted to use him in bigger matches but he can't go twenty minutes without the game saying the show isnt as good because he got used too much.

When Wolf abolishes the Syndicate I intend on having him join Hawkins "Wolf Pack" which is a play on the misconception about alpha wolves and that stuff. Hawkins needs equals to reach his peak not servants and betas.

Matt Hocking will eventually become the #2 in Freddy Huggins stable. Atm he's been involved in a storyline with Taylor/Huggins/Stone.

I'm still just at battleground and Im not desperate to push anyone. So they're just guys I'm seeing perform well in their small roles and feel confident I can give bigger roles too.

I understand why you can't get hooked on Flynn and Hocking though. I think you need to see guys like that as a blank canvas. Cody was once Stardust, you know? Flynn doesn't have to be a jock and Hocking doesn't have to just be a pretty boy. Have there been irl gimmicks and characters you liked that you'd love to book, try slotting that on those guys. Just gotta reimagine them. How many widely different things have Mick Foley or Bray Wyatt tried? Just don't limit yourself by what the game tells you these guys are. You're the booker, they are who you want them to be. If theyre boring average joes then it's partially because you look at them that way.

Their job ends at being talented imo, then your job begins at booking them where their talents can shine.

Hocking usually falls into being a tags guy for me. Last game he teamed with Jacob Jett(my tag team god) for a bit before jumping to USPW and this game he's with teaming with Maverick in a stable meant to get Juliet Balconi over for my womens division and give a newcoming Multimillionairo something to do. Dont plan a major push for him unless he gets too good or too over.

Matt Hocking has shot up the ranks in my diary and sits at 72 pop. He's one half of the hottest tag team in TCW together with Freddy Huggins (The Hybrid Two).

Honestly, considering how bad Im mistreating my tag division, and how full the world title scene is right now, I think you have the right idea in just making Huggins & Hocking the kings of tag team wrestling. May steal this one post-Mayhem!

I've made somewhere between 47 and 788 huge mistakes I wish I could take back playing TCW for just over a year. I have the money and income in a terrible economy and rapidly falling Industry, so I am going to continue on anyway. I will tell you that the core of a great promotion is there. And the tools to carry you through the rebuild. So it works.

Currently pop is at 89. I overbloated the roster terribly. In the month I spent 65 mil making my TV coverage huge and 100% mine I ended up paring down the roster to guys I could actually use and book solidly without just running all 6-mans. Now it's only half six-mans, which is actually ideal for building feuds up and making the ones you are ending hot in the last week. Once a few contracts are up I should be down below 60.

Wolf, Jay, Mighty Mo and Ace are amazing. T-Bone, Greg, Joshua Taylor, Roderick Remus, Freddy Huggins, Titan, Matt Hocking and Sammy Bach will vary according to where your save puts their pop caps. Doc, One Man Army and Eddie Chandler are hyper consistent guys who don't overperform but very rarely underperform. Honestly, Killer Shark needs a ton of work to perform at all in high level matches.

A couple of mistakes I made were with Maverick and Troy Tornado. Both do really well once they get rolling. Human Arsenal is in decline or he'd be great. Marc Speed, if he gets a decent pop cap, could be a good midcarder. Bart Biggins has the Tag Specialist attribute, which goes a long way.

<p>Never really bothered with the Cverse but wanted to have a proper go (my last attempt with CWW got boring) with a company I've always felt drawn to. </p><p> </p><p>

First thing I've noticed is the average age of the roster. I've gone out and signed some younger guys in the hope of rebuilding. Trusted the Hidden Gems section and signed Fro Sure and Ernest Youngman. Also signed Blackfriar. Not sure whether any of them will work out, but liked the look of their stats. Also want to get a backstage interviewer and maybe an authority figure. Any suggestions for young talent/personalities, or better to discover it solo?</p>

Thinking about how hes getting low 60s for me to start and imagining how much better he might do if he was in the upper Well Known tier or a star. He can do 20 minute matches now so Im sticking him close to Wolf Hawkins and hoping he can learn a thing or two and gain some of that pop. Now the new issue is if hes teaming with Hawkins in a 20 min main event, he cant really appear in segments lol. </p><p> </p><p> Matt Hocking just had his mini big angle in mine, betrayed his team at Battleground to help Freddy. Still not a major role for him yet but at least he'll be able to get wins with Freddy. </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="jean-vic" data-cite="jean-vic" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="47616" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Never really bothered with the Cverse but wanted to have a proper go (my last attempt with CWW got boring) with a company I've always felt drawn to. <p> </p><p> First thing I've noticed is the average age of the roster. Long long story. Originally it was going to be Eddie Chandler, Nate Johnson, Marc Speed & Chris Flynn. Then I found out Bruce wouldn't wrestle for me so Chris Flynn moved on up to the main event. Then a day before the show Nate Johnson broke his arm. So my idea is that the Syndicate just forced roster punching bag Yuri and convinced developmental worker Seth Whitehead to take the spot. Their opponents are four guys who oppose the Syndicate but mostly have nothing better to do.</p><p> </p><p> Matt Hocking betrayed his team after weeks of building up his relationship with Laura and helped Freddy Huggins win. He'll now be second in command of the stable. I like the idea of them teaming up for the tag titles too. I will be reevaluating my Total Mayhem card but Huggins is currently booked to face Joshua Taylor there and win.</p><p> </p><p> Team Mighty Meaty beat Sinner Society with Mo & Bright being the sole survivor. They're both bigger than this. Caulfield was just a toss in that fit with Peak, and Tana the Mighty has signed with USPW so hes on his way out. </p><p> </p><p> Masked Cougar was insane in the Team Bach vs. Team Chord match but also that match had to be limited to ten minutes because he's unimportant lol. Bach's contract is expiring and I will do my best to bring him back but I wont be real mad if he leaves. He's not great.</p><p> </p><p> So I took a risk with TD New Wave & inexperienced Chris Flynn teaming up with Wolf. Lover is also on TD, Running Wolf & Stardust lost a bit of pop from their old companies jobbing them out. All in all it was still a great main event and Wolf Hawkins delivered as always. I really want to just give him the world title but he has to lose the Syndicate first. </p><p> </p><p> We have officially changed to Wrestling Nerd Nirvana, I'll be interested in seeing how that changes things up for us grade wise. They arent too far apart from the default product so Im not expecting too much. </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="f3b81f40fddc76f22322004c363090cd.png" data-src="https://i.gyazo.com/f3b81f40fddc76f22322004c363090cd.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> First battle worked out for us. Its combined. Unfair since we have Bruce & Lover but USPW didnt help themselves by letting Frehley go to SWF and Baine go to me. </p><p> </p><p> I've also signed Gargantuan & Bantom so that'll be fun.</p><p> </p><p> D-Pod was brought in to eventually manage but for now Im going to be using him in a segment called D-Pod Doc where he does a 10 minute deep dive on a top worker. Mostly use it on Saturday Night Showcase which is my AEW Dark.</p><p> </p><p> I'm really excited for Where Angels Fear to Tread, going to make a stacked card for the event before Total Mayhem including Bach & Chord meeting again.</p>

Really want to push Mo as a singles. Wish I could see whether or not Tana can play heel...

What do you mean? It says so in the turn screen, the talk to worker screen, in the attributes section in profiles, and maybe a couple other places.

Also not all tag teams have to split via turn. There's been tag teams that just fizzle out. Mighty Meaty aren't a unit tag team, too. Individual tag teams are meant to be short lived things that happen frequently.

Total Mayhem 2020 is done and dusted. Scored a 85 rating for the show. Also made a deal with North American Prime Select so made massive amounts of money from the PPV.

Main Event had Aaron Andrews going over Wolf Hawkins in a 40 minute classic (86). Was tempted to have Wolf win but decided I want Andrews losing the title to coincide with Jay Chord’s ascent to the top.

Speaking of Jay, he beat (now face) Joshua Taylor in the Co-main (89). Feud started two months ago when Chord beat Taylor in a number 1 contenders match. Chord won. Taylor was showing hints of a turn though after a short program with DDD. They eventually lost a tag match and Chord blamed Taylor, Taylor turned and a triple threat for the title occurred. Taylor took the pin. Chord blamed Taylor, destroyed him in the ring and Taylor came back for revenge. Classic simple story right there.

Had Huggins beat Bach and Bach question whether he still has it.

Edd Stone and T-Bone (BrightStone) won the tag belts in a triple threat with Mighty Meaty and The Behemoths. Mighty Mo is going to finally move up into a more meaningful program now.

Doc Hammond got one over on his old partner to give the Syndicate SOME pride.

Greg Gauge beat Matt Hocking to make another step up the card. Gonna move him to a program with Taylor now.

And had my version of MitB called Championship Challenge which can be used for any title. Ernest Youngman got the win there over Frankie Perez, Akima Brave, Troy Tornado, Human Arsenal and Nick Booth.

The other big news is that I managed to sign Atom Smasher (Unoriginally renamed Adam Smasher in TCW) from SWF. They dropped to medium during negotiations which helped a lot, because even when they threw $130000+, i was the bigger company and scored him. He’s going to be the hero who takes down the Syndicate over the next little while, while also giving me a much needed star power boost in case area battles kick off again.

Definitely pretty happy with how everything turned out. Probably could have gotten a higher overall rating with some changes but I’m really happy with the stories in my head and how they panned out.

Also Chord and Gauge are just bloody quality. Can’t wait to eventually see them main event a Total Mayhem.

Did you end up running a Total Mayhem match?

Yeah Chord & Gauge are basically destined for a Total Mayhem main event. Impressed that Taylor/Chrod actually out did Hawkins & Ace though. Hawkins is insane and Ace can usually hold his own as well as Chord can.

In strange news, Velocidad and Frankie Perez (great chemistry, why not?) wrestled the main PPV match in January 2021. They got an 88 with the psych penalty and were the second best match on the show. And neither was at popularity cap. Loving how this is turning out and I have Fro Sure, Joffy Laine and Boriken Love machine not in the mix yet.

I probably could have, since I’d been doing a fair bit of stable warfare stuff with the rest of the Syndicate, but we also weren’t very far removed from Battleground and I always just prefer to fill my biggest show with a lot of solid singles matches. Maybe next time.

Pretty sure Andrews got dinged for inconsistency which dropped the rating slightly, which is a shame because I was kinda hoping for a 90+ rated match/show. But alas, I’m still content with the rating I got.

Andrews and Hawkins did give me my first 100 rated segment in the build to total mayhem, so that was great.
