Fun fact/small spoiler, Winnipeg Rock City is Rockin' Ryan Turner and Stan "The Man" Manna of RIPW fame! Got them in on a 60 dollar a night deal to give them some work because they were probably one of my favorite tag teams in the C-Verse in 2013/2016.

I knew it was them! I feel the same way so I almost picked them just 'cause hahaha :p

<p>CWA Championship Wrestling will be up tomorrow, mostly thanks to me not being able to work on the show yesterday (Mother's Day bby), so if anyone still wants to get their predictions in, y'all have another day!</p><p> </p><p>

Also want to share some in-universe news, EILL (the company formerly known as SOTBPW) and OLLIE agreed to a deal that makes OLLIE the official developmental company for EILL! Yeah Mexico is kind of dominated by EILL now (only EMLL and CILL left and they're indy as hell)</p>

CWA Championship Wrestling, January 2020, Week Four

Attendance: 6,337 at Otterburne Halls

Commentary Team: Davis Ditterich, Samuel Curran, & Tom Townsend

r7uhPx1.jpgu2FjAQx.jpg

We welcome you live from the Otterburne Halls in Winnipeg for tonight's exciting edition of CWA Championship Wrestling! Davis Ditterich, Samuel Curran, and Tom Townsend run down tonight's card before they're interrupted by Aaron Knight & Tom Gilmore! The two surviving members of Team Knight from last night's 4 v 4 Elimination Match grab microphones and begin to talk about what happened last night. The two men applaud each other for doing so good last night before Knight says that he hopes this gets him a shot at the CWA World Championship. Gilmore takes some offence to this and says that Knight was off screwing around with Cameron Vessey while he was in the ring actually winning the match! Gilmore says that should make him the rightful number one contender to Price's CWA World Championship. Knight retorts by saying that he's the one that put the winning team together, so he should be the number one contender. Before things can get more tense...

Generation Power (Robin DaLay & George Wolfe) w/Dan DaLay vs Winnipeg Rock City

Generation Power formed last week when Dan DaLay brought George Wolfe and Robin DaLay together to form a new tag team. Robin, being the son of Dan, and George Wolfe being the son of the legendary Ed Monton, with both men being some of the most strongest wrestlers in Canadian history. This match is nothing more than a squash match that Generation Power completely dominate. DaLay & Wolfe eventually finish off one of the local talents by hitting him with their finisher, the Double Chokeslam!

WINNER: Generation Power

The DeColt Boys vs The Pryce of Gold

The DeColt Boys were part of the winning Team Knight at Elimination on Saturday, but they were eliminated by Shooter Sean Deeley. This match is nothing more than a squash match that The DeColt Boys completely dominate. Ricky DeColt eventually finishes off Solomon Gold in just under six minutes after he hits him with the DeColt 45.

WINNERS: The DeColt Boys

After that match is over, we cut to the office of the liaison to the CWA Board of Commissioners, Steve DeColt. DeColt says that he's been very impressed at how the tag division in the CWA has gotten over the past month. DeColt says that because of this and the fact that The Dynamite Express have no challengers right now, he is launching something special. Starting next week, we will have an eight team tournament to decide the next challengers for The Dynamite Express! DeColt says the winners of the tournament will square off against Cam Jones & Syd Collier at CWA Clash Classic in four weeks for the CWA World Tag Team Championships! DeColt finishes by saying that it's going to be a good one!

Brooke Tyler vs Sally Anne Christianson

Tyler was last seen at Elimination, where she defeated Lauren Easter with her devasting Brooke Buster. This match is a good match and the crowd is solidly behind Christianson. Tyler and Christianson start the match off with a collar and elbow tie-up, in which Tyler hits Christianson with a belly to belly suplex. Tyler then grabs Christianson's arm and starts wringing it before hitting Christianson with a northern lights suplex. Tyler goes to attempt the Brooke Buster, but Christianson reverses it into a bulldog. Christianson throws Tyler into the corner and hits her with a knife edge chop. Christianson goes to attempt a spinebuster, but Tyler reverses it into a DDT. The match comes to an end when Tyler hits Christianson with the Brooke Buster! Instead of going for the pin, Tyler instead places Christianson's elbow on the mat, facing up. Tyler then stomps Christianson directly on the elbow! Referee Jonathon Taylor calls for the bell and awards Tyler the win by referee stoppage. Medical officials tend to Christianson's elbow and it seems like it may be seriously injured. Tyler stands tall over Christianson as we go to commercials.

WINNER: Brooke Tyler (by Referee Stoppage)

Mr. Impact © vs David Stone

David Stone won this opportunity at the CWA World Television Championship by winning a six man gauntlet match at Elimination on Saturday. Mr. Imapct most recently defended his CWA TV Title at the beginning of January, when he defeated Sonny Wildside. This match is a good match and the crowd is solidly behind Stone. Stone starts the match off by extending a hand to Impact, who promptly slaps Stone across the face. Stone tries going after Impact, but Impact rolls to the outside and the two engage in a bit of a chase. Impact eventually gets the ring and starts stomping the hell out of Stone, who was trailing just behind him. Impact throws Stone off the ropes and hits him with a dropkick. Impact goes to attempt an enzuigiri, but is caught by Stone, who hits him with a German suplex. The match comes to an end when Stone goes to attempt the Stone Cutter, but Impact reverses it into a facebuster. Impact starts setting up for his finisher, the Crying Game, but Stone reverses it and hits Impact with the Stone Cutter! Stone covers Impact and gets the three! We have a new CWA World Television Champion!

WINNER: David Stone

After that match is over, we cut to Aaron Knight and Tom Gilmore backstage. Knight and Gilmore try to psych each other up before their match against Cameron Vessey & Shooter Sean Deeley. Knight tells Gilmore that he's a legend who should have no problem against Vessey & Deeley, but then he again, he's never been a champion in Canada. Gilmore laughs off Knight before hyping up Knight, saying that he's accomplished so much at this stage in his career, but he's still got a lot to learn, especially from him. The two men stare each other down before Gilmore breaks the tension by telling Knight that they have business to take care of in the ring! Knight agrees and they both head out for their match.

All four of these men were last seen at Elimination on Saturday, when Knight & Gilmore were the only two surviving team mebers of Team Knight when they defeated Team Vessey, which included Cameron Vessey and Shooter Sean. This match is a good match and the crowd is solidly behind Knight & Gilmore. Aaron Knight and Shooter Sean Deeley start the match off with a collar and elbow tie-up, in which Knight hits Deeley with a suplex. Knight throws Deeley off the ropes and hits him with a back body drop. Deeley rolls back to his corner and tags out to Vessey, Vessey blasts Knight with a lariat before hitting him with a belly to belly suplex. Vessey throws Knight off the ropes and hits him with a back body drop. Vessey then picks up Knight and attempts a back suplex, but Knight reverses it into a bulldog. Knight eventually tags out to Gilmore, while Vessey tags out to Deeley. The match comes to an end when Deeley hits Gilmore with a running knee lift. Deeley tries to lock in a sleeper hold, but Gilmore reverses it and hits Deeley with the Anger Management!!! Gilmore covers Deeley and gets the three!

Christian Price appears on the video screen!

Price, decked in a black suit and tie, halfheartedly congratulates Knight and Gilmore on beating Vessey & Deeley. Price goes on to say that only one man in the Canadian Wrestling Alliance can face him at Clash Classic next month and he knows which one of Knight & Gilmore deserves it more, but he won't tell! Price finishes by saying that no matter who he faces at Clash Classic, they won't be as elite a wrestler he is! CWA Championship Wrestling comes to a close as Gilmore & Knight ponder what Price just said.

Vibert's Voice: January 2020 Recap

It's time for our traditional month-end recap episode of the podcast sponsored by the newest GNN Total Sports docu-series, The East Coast Legacy, a 10 part documentary on the history of the East Coast Wars of the 1990s. Let's get right into the recap!

u2FjAQx.jpgFMbGGgN.jpg

The biggest story this month was obviously Tom "Angry" Gilmore leaving SWF and joining the Canadian Wrestling Alliance. Gilmore had apparently declined a contract extension from SWF back in December and his contract fully expired on January 1st. Gilmore was apparently offered a position on the booking team in the CWA and accepted it shortly thereafter. He's had a good start in the company so far, but I don't know how many years he's got left in him before he hangs up the boots. Enjoy him while you can folks, because he'll be in the Hall of Immortals as soon as he retires.

qehmyFS.jpg

Speaking of the SWF, they debuted a new show this month called SWF Fight Night. Kind of sounds like a show an MMA company like GAMMA would produce, but I digress. The show debuted on NetSteam to try to compete with USPW and Reverie. The first show wasn't that special, but it had a decent main event of Primus Allen & The Pain Alliance defeating Lenny Brown & Hawaiian Crush. The second episode also had a decent main event of Sammy Smoke & The Finishers (John Greed & Primus Allen) defeating Ekuma & Amazingly Awesome (Robbie Retro & Steven Parker). I honestly don't get what SWF is doing here, they get a big deal with a major subscription service, but they use it to show their B-show.

GPQETOk.jpgPoLqmBo.jpg

We don't cover lucha libre that much here on Vibert's Voice, but this story is just too big to pass up. For some background, EILL, formerly known as SOTBPW, is the biggest company in Mexico. The second biggest/oldest in the country is OLLIE. Well this month saw EILL purchase a majority stake in OLLIE, turning them into a developmental company in the process. They haven't sent anyone down to OLLIE yet, but it's probably a matter of time before they do. EILL really have a monopoly on the business there now, with two indy promotions (EMLL & CILL) being the only competition left for EILL.

GzIos14.jpgrWHbZZR.jpgyTYNs14.jpg

PGHW suffered another blow this month when notable star Brute Kikuchi signed for BHOTWG. Kikuchi is most known for teaming with BISON Yano, they were even the tag champions with Kikuchi left. I wouldn't be shocked to see more signings for BHOTWG, but the whole Japanese industry is just kind of a big question mark for me.

That's all for this month's recap, Vibert's Voice will be back next week when I sit down with a pro wrestling legend and a good friend of mine, Steve Flash! Until then, I've been Phil Vibert and this has been Vibert's Voice.

Not going to make any predictions, just a request to give those Griffin boys a push! Mark was my personal favorite Canadian in '16 and I like the idea of him getting the hot tags in a speedster/powerhouse combo.

I noticed they beat the tag champs in the first week, but (unless I missed a show) haven't been on a show since. Hoping they can win a few rounds in the tag tournament!
