"Carveouts" for match penalties

Just my way of trying to add a little bit of discretion with the product stuff.

This is from RIPW's product, which looks like basically a modern WWE product (PG Sports Entertainment). And I'd say, yeah - deathmatches shouldn't ever happen under any circumstances. Pure eye candy matches shouldn't really happen either but it's not as big of a deal.

The other two, though. I get why the mild penalties are there; WWE or RIPW shouldn't be "hardcore feds" at all. But I think that's different from doing a hardcore match as a one-off. There's a fatigue or a confusion that would set in if there were a ton of WWE/RIPW hardcore matches. But I think you should be able to do them very rarely, without taking what would amount to a penalty (I know the penalties are small, but it's against the way people think about these games to just put on a match that's objectively worse; people want to see the numbers go up!).

I would keep "severely penalized" matches the way they are: they just can't be done at all without taking a big hit. Can't have a deathmatch in WWE without it getting a 30 or something. WWE fans don't want to see that stuff. Done.

But I would love to see a rolling timer for "penalized" and "mildly penalized" matches. I don't know what the right numbers would be. You can have these matches without taking penalties. You just can't cheat the system or try to make the company something it isn't. Maybe one free "penalized" match per year and three free "mildly penalized" matches across the whole year of product, maybe something that scales better to how busy your schedule is (1 penalized and 2 mildly penalized for your year's worth of large events, and 1/2 for each TV show?)

While your right that in theory a penalty doesn’t stop you

You have to consider that these penalties can be extremely harsh, which makes a lot of players just never book outside the rules, which will stagnate the booking to a horrifying degree, consider how people responded to eye candy matches and sex appeal segments and matches being capped, some were ok with it, some were happy, some were ticked, and finally some just stopped incorporating them at all.

However some of these penalties are a lot more restrictive to work around even for the type of players who play to avoid penalties, in USPW for example I couldn’t run a match over 10 minutes or I was penalized which is crazy, I can’t have a segment over five or I’m Penalized; crazy, or cant have an overness only segment at 5 minutes or less; crazy

I’m fine with penalties but there a bit too strict, god forbid the players want to book a royal rumble like match for USPW, with these penalties you just gave your show a death segment

If they tinker with these penalties a bit (such as let USPW segments go up to 8 minutes and matches to 20) while also allowing an outlier match or angle from time to time (perhaps via a road agent note with a time table of a month or once a show limit?) would allow us to handle with these limitations a bit more and not scare off a group of players

Don't forget the players who may want to run a WWE game & run two Royal Rumble matches, one for the men & one for the women. I still think allowing options for match/angle times would be helpful.

That’s fair the fact there’s 2 rumbles nowadays slipped my mind and agreed on that
