<em>Masatake Hori was sitting in his house boiling water in order to make a pot of tea. He had found his life to be quite quiet recently, realizing that he had been missing when he would work constantly. He had at one time never had to worry about where his paycheck was coming from, and while he still had money saved up from his days of working as a wrestling announcer, the work wasn’t as steady as it once was. He would take the occasional independent booking, though they paid a lot less than he was used to making, and it wasn’t quite the same as being the voice of one of the oldest and most well respected companies in the world...or at least it had been at one point. He would let out a sigh as he thought of the days of Kudo running the company, something that seemed quite exciting at first, but quickly turned out to be much worse than he had initially expected.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

Hori would hear a knock at his door and paused in what he was doing, predicting he had a few minutes yet until the water was ready as he would make his way to the door. He wasn’t as young as he once was, being sixty at this point. He would slowly open the door, the man standing there certainly not someone Hori had expected to see today. Sadakuno Nishimuraya stood on Hori’s step, a man whom he had followed during his career, though their work had never overlapped. Nishimuraya had retired as a wrestler from Golden Canvas Grappling the year before he had started working there as an announcer, and he had never gotten the opportunity to call one of his matches, though he was a big fan of the man’s work, and what he would eventually do with Pro Wrestling SAISHO as well.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Hori:</strong> Nishimuraya, what a surprise. What brings you to my humble home?</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Nishimuraya would bow courteously towards Hori. He was also sixty years old, and was a mountain of a man, Hori unable to not think of what he had looked like in his prime. The two of them hadn’t aged well, but a man this big certainly looked like he had lost a little more over time.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Nishimuraya:</strong> Hori-san, I’ve come to see if you have a few moments to talk. I apologize for intruding, and for not calling ahead...but it took me a while to track you down.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Hori:</strong> Of course I have time. Please, come in. I am making tea. Make yourself at home.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Nishimuraya would sit at Hori’s table, nearby as the water would come to a boil, filling a pot and timing the Oolong tea he was making.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Hori:</strong> I find tea is a great way to relax...especially recently since I haven’t been working as much.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Nishimuraya:</strong> I understand that feeling. That’s part of why I’m here. I hope you haven’t decided to retire that beautiful voice just yet.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Hori:</strong> Ha, you flatter me. I’ve been taking the odd indy job here and there, but work has been more difficult to come by since GCG closed. Nobody wants to pay me anything reasonable these days. They’re all kids, of course. No respect for their elders.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Hori would poor the tea, placing a cup in front of Nishimuraya and then taking a seat with his own, taking a sip and setting his cup down.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Hori:</strong> But no, I have not retired yet...what did you have in mind?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Nishimuraya:</strong> I’ve recently been in talks with the bank to try to figure out what it would take to buy the rights to the GCG name and titles...even got the money I would need to do it. I just wanted to see if you would be willing to help an old man out. You’ve got as much experience in the business as I do, I figure if the two of us are running things, maybe we can steer the ship in the right direction...unlike...</p><p> </p><p>

<em>His voice would trail off and Hori would shake his head. He knew that he was talking about Kudo, of that there was no doubt. He had never taken on a booker for the company, instead deciding to completely control everything himself. This had caused him to never have anyone to answer too when he was dealing with some of the more...interesting decisions that he had made during his career. He could still remember the outrage they had received when GCG went away from a traditional touring schedule and had joined the Modern Japan Movement. He fully understood why Maeda had left, but Hori had believed in Kudo, as had many of the people there.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Hori:</strong> And who would you bring in? Gakusha and Hyobanshi are in Burning Hammer these days, the rest of the men scattered to the winds. I can’t imagine they would come running back for the chance to work for us again...</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Nishimuraya:</strong> I have already been in contact with a few people. Miyazaki, Shimizu, Kikuchi, Koruba and Urogataya are all interesting in returning. Suzuki and Kato from INSPIRE and a bunch of the guys from Warrior Engine as well. The DeColt boys got Miwa’s blessing to help us out, and Edd Stone said he’d come to help train them, some promise to Steve. There is a tremendous amount of young talent to tap into, lots who would be interested in coming to work for us...I just need an announcer, and of course a booker. I’ll even let you choose your own broadcast partner.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Hori:</strong> I imagine the people would be extremely unhappy if Kudo ended up beside me again eh? <em>laughs</em> It’s a tempting offer Nishimuraya, it would be nice to get monthly work again.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Nishimuraya:[/g] Oh, not monthly. We will be running a touring schedule, like the old days. No reason to bring back the limping dead version of the company when we can have the true Golden Canvas Grappling once more.</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><strong><em>Hori would take another sip of his tea, thinking this over. The names he was presented were certainly interesting, to say the least. There were several people whom he had been watching on the indys, a lot of young names he had been tracking, including a few of the people whom had been mentioned. It hadn’t even been three full years since the company had shut down, and yet here was a man who was offering to give him his world back. He would finish his tea before speaking once more.</em></strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><strong><strong>Hori:</strong></strong><strong> I want Uboshita. And if it seems like you’re going to go down a similar road as Kudo, I’ll be out. I won’t live through that again.</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><strong><strong>Nishimuraya:</strong></strong><strong> Deal, I’ll call him up. And don’t worry. Nothing too crazy...but we should look at bringing in Juniors.</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><strong><em>Hori would shake his head and laugh. This man was already making changes, but he couldn’t see this hurting at all.</em></strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><strong><strong>Hori:</strong></strong><strong> Very well, you’ve got yourself a deal...The Golden Lion will rise from the ashes. </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><strong><em>The two of them would shake hands, Nishimuraya finishing his tea, and they would sit and talk for another hour before Nishimuraya excused himself, Hori getting out a list of phone numbers of people he would need to contact...he supposed it was as good a time as any to get back to work...</em></strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Shhhhh it's okay. Were touring again! People might not notice that almost half of my roster is Juniors.

This is basically Mutoh AJPW in 2002. You have no shame. An honorable GCG revival would use gaijin lunks and aging natives before bringing in too many juniors! :p

Where are Yasuhide Tayama, Sozen Ishinomori and Harumi Okazawaya? ;)

They're actually currently in the process of being resigned. Same with SUKI who I thought had been signed by someone bigger than BCG and apparently was wrong. It will be so much sweeter when I tip my hand and show just how shameless I am haha. Gakusha, Hyobanshi and the rest of the crew in BHOTWG are also all on my shortlist.

Let me also mention I have always disliked GCG and generally prefer BCG or SAISHO, while tweaking them slightly to fit my means. The fact that they closed made me want to actually play as them for the first time, while again tweaking them to suit my means. Kudo made a lot of mistakes, but one thing he didnt try was working with Juniors. He modernized in the wrong ways and paid for it.

I have only two questions, who are this DeColts?, and do I need to tell Steve to get the Lawyers ready for an identity theft suit?

I did a SAISHO dynasty in TEW 2016 and created these two third generation DeColts for it. They are based closely off of Steve and Alex DeColt's stats from the CV '97 mod, though toned down a bit. Calvin is Steve's son and Dylan is Alex's. I always thought it was a crime that the DeColt's didn't have a third generation, so I made my own.

I remember your SAISHO run. I was interested in seeing where that went. TBH, if GCG was going to die, then I wouldn't have minded the WCG renders coming into play and a junior-friendly variant popping up to complement BCG. I don't know if you read CGN91's WCG dynasty in TEW16, but between the title renders produced and the detail work he's done in the dynasty it actually made me plot out a BCG-WCG double split with GCG dying in 2009, where BCG was the heavyweight traditional paradise under Maeda-Yoshizawa and WCG was the junior-women's experiment. BCG got Hyobanshi-Gakusha, while WCG got 2000-SUKI. :p

That said, if someone wants to book juniors, then that's what EXODUS is for! :p

Opening Match

VS

Dh8qHMS.jpgwEC6Pfb.jpguLsUmnh.jpg

The Hand vs The PRIDE

Omezo Shikitei: The PRIDE is joking if they thing this match is going to be easy because I'm paired up with young lions. The Hand is strong, and we're not backing down

Azumamaro Shimizu: I have no doubt that the Young Lions are hungry, but the exierience edge is obvious here.

Ryobe Uno would line up across from Goro Hatamoto, the young lion wearing his unmarked trunks. Uno had only recently graduated the system himself, and the fire was still there. Hatamoto was impressive and viscious, hammering away with wicked shots into the chest of the larger Uno, who would leave no strike unmatched. Eventually Uno would stagger the young lion, getting him to the mat and beginning to work him over before tagging in his tag team partner, who allowed Isono to gat in before the two meh would lock up, Isono looking to beat the man at his own game. Kikuchi would prove to be overpowering as well, the larger man overpowering the youngster until he was able to slip away and tag in Shikitei, who would explode into the match. Shikitei would floor Kikuchi with a devestating looking Lariat before picking him up for three back to back german suplexes, causing Kikuchi to roll to his corner and take in Shimizu.

The two Deputies seemed to have a lot to prove, chopping one another raw before Shikitei would move to lock Shimizu in for a suplex which he would counter, dropping Shikitei on his head and forcing him to tag in Isono. This would spell the beginning of the end as Ino would attempt to explode into the match, only to be caught by a lariat by Shimizu, who would bring in Uno while taking out Shikitei once more. Uno wouldn't take long before he tied the young lion up in a Scorpion Deathlock, which would cause a submission and a victory for The PRIDE.

Winner: The PRIDE

Finish: Ryube Uno submits Yuta Isono with a Scorpion Deathlock

VS

INSPIRE vs ELITE

Spyder Yakuta: Just because we're small doesn't mean we're going to lay down and let you walk all over us. You're going to learn that size isn't anything.

Morimasa Kato: INSPIRE was the most dangerous and hardest hitting company that ever existed...We were all survivors, and you won't take us down.

This match was bizare, but it was certainly not bad by any means. Joshua Batch and Kenko Takemitsu were showing off their ariel skills in a way that was very rarely seen in a GCG ring, but every time the two Juniors would leave their feet, Kato and Nakao would ground them, using brutal strikes and holds to work over their legs. Spyder Yakuda would burst in to save his teammates, lighting up the INSPIRE alumni with tremendous strikes, thunderous chops and kicks that rung out across the crowd. Eventually the flyers would get a chance to get their offences in, clearing Kato and Nakao from the ring and leaving the rookie young lion Dreadnaught alone in the ring.

The son of the monster Dread showed freakish strength and resolve, but it wouldn't be enough. The ELITE members would manage to keep his teammates on the outside of the ring while Yakuta would use his speed and experience to work the green worker into a position where he was able to tie him up into his Spyder Lock submission, causing a tap out and a win for the lightweights. They would celebrate in the ring before being cleared out of it by the INSPIRE men, thrown out as the big bruisers stood tall.

Winners: ELITE

Finish: Yakata makes Dreadnaught tap to the Spyder Lock.

The Kingdom vs Warrior Engine

Edd Stone: Umehara broke my nose the other night...my boys are going to kick his head off before I stomp through his chest.

Eiichi Umehara: I hit Edd Stone so hard last time we met that he had to be tended to by medics. He's leaving tonight in a stretcher.

This match was a surprisingly brutal outing as both teams genuinely seemed to want to put each other out of action. It was nearly instant that Edd Stone's nose was targetted by the brutal assault of Kuniyoshi Kawamura's elbows. Stone would use his speed to work his way out of this, but Kawamura didn't let up, causing Stone to go to his corner and tag in Dylan DeColt. The young brawler would move in and superkick the opponent, continuing to use his speed and a series of kicks and chops to get the former MMA fighter reeling before Kawamura would grab him and suplex him across the ring, tagging in Umehara as Dylan would tag Calvin. The two would clash, showing off a very impressive similar brawling style as they traded fists in the middle of the ring.

The match would continue to be a massive brawl, neither team seeming to truly gain any momemtum until the DeColt brothers would isolate Umehara in their corner, hitting him with their Double Barrled DeColt 45 stereo superkicks to drop him as Edd Stone would hit a PArty's Over double foot stomp before he and Dylan would clear the apron, allowing Calvin to slap the Canadian Crossface onto Umehara for the submission victory. The three Kingdom members would continue to beat down the defeated Umehara until his stablemates managed to drag him out of the ring, saving him from the viscious assault of the Gaijin...

Winner: The Kingdom

Match 4 - World Tag Team Titles

sofEqKU.jpgglB8plN.jpg

MTb4A4b.jpg

4r7mXm2.jpgEpQWHmT.jpg

Strike Force vs Team Diaz

Strike Force: No doubt that Ray Diaz is a legend, but you're both young and still have a lot to learn. We're going to take those titles home and bring them back to their former glory.

Team Diaz: Just because we're young doesn't mean you can count us out. We'll take the titles back to The Kingdom.

Logan Wolfsbaine was an absolute monster throughout this entire match, but it was impossible not to notice that he was a touch slower than he generally is, favouring his back for much of the match. Every time he was in the ring it was a tremendous display as he would throw his opponents across the ring before beating the tar out of them, The two INSPIRE members being shocked by what their young opponent was giving them...until they started targetting his back, Tornado Nagai planting him on his shoulders and making him slower. Sarumara would work over the arm, as he normally did, and when James Diaz was finally able to break into the match, he would do so with a fire that seemed like it could roll him forward to a victory. Surumara would be taken down by the young Diaz, but would manage to make a tag to his partner, Tornado Nagai using his tremendous skills to catch the young lion offguard. He would plant him with a Nagai Fireball for the pin, but the two veterans would show some respect to their young opponents as they lifted the titles over their heads, helping them up and holding their hands up.

Winners: Strike Force

Finish: Nagai hits Diaz with a Nagai Fireball for the pinfall.

Match 5 - Openweight Title Match

67tMhr0.jpglsPn8jV.jpgacOKLhs.jpg

Masashi Urogataya vs Taheiji Konoe

Masashi Urogataya: I've been here before. I've heald this title in the past, and tonight I will become a two time GCG Openweight champion.

Taheiji Konoe: Everyone underestimates me because I'm a "Deathmatch guy"...well I'm going to show them all that they're wrong by beating a former Openweight champion to win the title.

In a case of technician vs brawler, the two opponents would show one another respect before the beginning of their match, shaking hands to a cheer from the crowd before the match that would follow. Both men put on a good display of their skills, Urogataya trying to take it to the mat for the most part whiule Konoe tried to keep it a striking match. Eventually Urogataya would throw Konoe into the corner, smashing his back in the process and causing the WEXXV survivor a look of discomfort. He would continue to work over the man's back, stretching him and throwing him around before he would set up his finisher, which Konoe would slip out of before hitting a massive spinning back elbow, followed up with a thunderous lariat to put the man down.

The fight would never look one sided, eventually ending when Urogataya would manage to hit his Jumbo Backdrop Sublex on Konoe, which he would be smart enough to get his foot on the bottom rope, breaking up a pinfall and visibly angering Urogataya. Konoe would bait his incensed opponent into getting hit by his Savage Cradle DDT, almost looking like he was going to put his head through the mat before rolling him up for the pinfall victory as Taheiji Konoe became the GCG Openweight champion.

Streamers would cover the ring and the competators as the GCG World Heavyweight title was shown off to the competators and the crowd, the two men shaking hands beforethe bell would ring and the match would begin. There was something a little uncomfortable about this match, as it seemed at several points like the two simply didn't click in the match. They would both play up to their technical strengths, but there were many awkward counters and sandbagged throws that made things look a little sloppy. It was unfortunate indeed, as there was a lot of hope that the two men would put on a classic worthy of the titles lineage...fortunately tne finish of the match made the people happy.

The two men would tease finishers back and forth, Suzuki eventually locking in a Suzuki lock, which Miyazaki would fight through for minutes after a half hour of action before managing to roll through the hold and turn it into an Ankle Lock that Suzuki would similarly endure until he was finally unable too, tapping out to the GCG Original, who would proudly lift the GCG World Heavyweight Title above his head as he had fufilled his destiny finally.

Winner: Shingen Miyazaki

Finish: Ankle Lock for the submission
