Nirvana Prins, real name Nirvana Topley, was born in Cape Town, South Africa and relocated to the United States at age 16. A decent enough athlete with a gymnastics background, Topley, a lifelong wrestling fan, immediately sought out training and impressed enough people to get recommended to Steve Flash. Flash, impressed by the drive and enthusiasm of Topley, took time off to train the upstart. Topley was a natural technician and earned the nickname "Submission Magician" during training.</p><p> </p><p> It wasn't long after that the big time came calling as, after only three professional matches, Topley signed a deal with Hollyweird Grappling Company in September of 2000, one month after his 18th birthday. Topley impressed in his early years at HGC as critics and fans alike gravitated to the good looking technician. However his timid nature and straight edge lifestyle did not make him popular backstage as he was seen as a target for the hard partying boys, and was especially targeted by Peter Valentine after Topley had brought his then fiance Natalie to a few shows backstage and Peter had made some unwanted advances that nearly led to a fight.</p><p> </p><p> While unpopular with a lot of the boys, Topley had found a kinship with J.K Stallings Jr, who had a very similar personality to him and who Topley always stood up for. This only added fuel to the backstage inferno as jealously bred unsavory rumors about the two and led to many wrestlers feeling Topley was getting opportunities he did not deserve. However Topley continued to improve in his time at HGC and won the PWH Young Wrestler of The Year award 3 times in a row from 2002 to 2004. The sale of HGC to Tommy Cornell and the rebranding to Total Championship Wrestling only seemed to aid Topley's fortunes as a big push in 2005 seemed destined, with Cornell publically mentioning that Topley was their next babyface star to lead TCW into the future along with Wolf Hawkins as his heel foil. This was unfortunately around the time of his break up with fiance Natalie, as his life on the road put strain on their relationship and they mutually agreed to part ways. This made him easy pickings for Peter Valentine, who mocked him constantly and it all boiled over on July 13th 2005.</p><p> </p><p> Backstage at a Total Wrestling taping, Valentine had pushed his luck once too many and had started egging Sam Strong on to harass the young star. Unfortunately this was the last straw for Topley who, despite being 5'11" and 200lbs, fought with Strong and choked him out backstage. This was his death blow as Topley was fired shortly after while the veterans got off scott free. Topley was blacklisted from most promotions in North America and the ones who would have him, wanted him to play into the backstage altercation. </p><p> </p><p> Topley however did find solace in Japan, as he was brought in to work the Best Of The Super Juniors Tournament twice under a mask as El Tigre Blanco, posing as a Mexican Luchador. Making it to the finals in the 2007 edition of the tournament he was bested by Black Cobra in a match that won the 2007 Match of The Year award here at Pro-Wrestling Hits. Unfortunately his and BHOTWG managements ruse was found out and he was blacklisted from the East as well, as not only his fight with Strong, but also his deception was seen as an immense sign of disrespect. </p><p> </p><p> Well where is Topley now you ask? He works as a stuntman for J.K. Stallings' Hollyweird Studios as well as receiving work from his high school best friend, and television writer and producer, Kurt McIntyre. He also works the small indie scene working mostly as a heel who puts over the local star. Truly a tragic story as the once handpicked future star of wrestling as become another casualty of backstage politicking and has had a promising career dashed. However at only 26 years old and still incredibly talented, he might still be able to carve his name in the annals of history, his first hurdle will be finding a promotion willing to get behind him and look past his negative relations with many important people in the industry. While hope is there for him, in an industry where connections are so important like pro-wrestling, it seems like the Prins has become a peasant.</p></div><p></p></div></blockquote>

Extract From Nirvana Topley's 2030 Autobiography:

The Tale Of Nirvana Topley:How Pro-Wrestling Made Me A Prince

Professional Wrestling was my first love, before I knew what love was, there was pro-wrestling. Growing up in a trying environment the larger than life wrestlers were who I idolized and always wanted to be. I've always gravitated to these characters, comic books, novels, video games, these all left a major impact on me. But pro-wrestling was more than that, it was my passion. The first thing I told Natalie when we started dating was: "Don't make me choose between you and wrestling, because you will lose." Unfortunately that was a choice that I had to make and I've never told her a lie. Even all these years later it's still something I don't regret. Pro-wrestling gave me some of the best moments of my life, but also some of the worst. I had made enemies, enemies I never had the chance to reconcile with and bury the hatchet with. People like Peter Valentine and Sam Strong had made my life hell, but I always look on the positive and they made me stronger. Wrestling has cost me friendships, years with family, strained my relationship with family, taken years of off my life. Except professional wrestling was my life, it made me everything I am today. I don't regret a single decision I made regarding pro-wrestling, after all pro-wrestling made me a Prince.

I countered the attempted lariat by shoving the official into the way and soaked in the booing of the crowd. In this very moment, I knew this was what I was born for. The noise of the crowd, the feel of the canvas, the sweat running down my face, my heavy breathing, this was my element. The squared circle was my home and there was nowhere else I'd rather be. Sure there were less than 60 people here and my opponent was untalented and I wasn't going over, but I didn't care. Right now, I was in heaven.

I scaled the top rope and waited. Waited for him to get up, waited for him to get in position. This was the end, the final moment of the match, the moment the crowd were waiting for. I attempted my crossbody block and gave it my all, I sold this moment as if it was the main event of Total Mayhem, Supreme Challenge or The Best Of The Super Juniors. He moved out of the way and I took a painful flat face bump. It hurt like hell but it was worth it, the crowd lost their minds as their local hero wound up his arm for the lariat. He ran full sprint and hit me, it was stiff very stiff. Not Japan stiff, but untrained stiff, raw and unpolished. Just like the majority of this match. He knocked me loopy and got the big victory. The local hero going over the evil cocky youth. That has been my career for the past two years, it wasn't ideal but it was all I had. And I was going to make the most of it.

I stayed in the ring, laying there unmoving. I didn't need to do this, I was supposed to get up and leave. But I had a job to do, I was brought in to put him over and that was what I was going to do. Staying in the ring sold his finisher like death and made him look dangerous. This wasn't the first time I'd done this, not the first time this year, not the first time this month either. Putting him over was my job and I was going to give 100% to doing that, if I didn't, what was the point? He left the ring and celebrated with his fans, this was the worst part: the realization. Realizing that this was my last night here, this wasn't my company, this wasn't my ring and those weren't my fans. It all belonged to him. Once he made his way to the back, I slowly got up. Staggering and failing. I was apparently to convincing as some of the boys thought I was actually hurt, that meant it worked. I was never one to try to work the boys, always thought that was stupid, but if they bought into what I was doing I saw it as a compliment of my talents.

I slowly made my way to the back, the crowd started pelting me with garbage and I threw them back. It wasn't anger, I didn't see this as disrespect. This was old school, this was genuine heat, this was the lifeblood of the industry and I was happy to be a part of it. I made it behind the curtain and got my regular greeting. Handshakes and applause by the boys and a pat in the back by the promoter. This was where my journey here ended. It was time to move on and I still wasn't over it. The small appearances were fun and all, but it wasn't why I gave up so much. Friendships, family, love, college. I gave it all up for wrestling and my position right now, well I was bitter. A part of me always knew I was destined for more, more than small runs in tiny promotions. I always saw myself at the center of the ring, at Supreme Challenge, holding up the Heavyweight Championship, in front of 100 000 screaming fans. This was not it.

I collected my pay packet and left the gym. $175. $175. My payment for my final night. In total I made $300 over four appearances working for this company. A part of me was angry, bitter, disappointed. But another part of me was just grateful for the work. Grateful for the chance to step into the ring, the chance to be the guy I always wanted to be. A pro-wrestler. I slowly made my way to my car, my '67 Mustang Coupe. She has been with me for my entire journey in this industry. I drove her up to Steve Flash's place to get training, drove her to sign my HGC contract, drove her to the airport before my Japan tours. After all these years in the business, she was all I had left. I put my bag into the trunk and was ready to leave. That was until I heard a familiar voice...

"Hey kid. Long time."

Nirvana-Topley.jpgRip-Chord-alt.jpg

I stopped and looked in complete shock at the man standing before me. I always got starstruck when I saw Rip Chord. I really shouldn't, after all we'd worked together for years in HGC/TCW and even did a loop and PPV together right when I was starting my big push. But there was something about Chord. When I was young, my father never really watched wrestling, but my grandfather did. He showed me tapes of Rip Chord in Texas and his run in the CWL, Rip Chord was magic. His bleached blond hair, fancy suits, beautiful woman and his charisma, there was nobody better than "Ravishing" Rip Chord in my eyes. Then his run in SWF, he became more vicious, trading his blond hair and robes for his natural dirt brown look and leather jacket. Rip Chord was my hero, he shouldn't have been. Rip Chord was a bad guy after all, he lied, cheated and mauled people. But that was nothing compared to Rip Chord the man, I'd seen Rip at his absolute worse, 14th of September 2004. Rip Chord, drunk of his tits, has a heart attack backstage. Stallings did his best to keep it out of the news, had to pay off a lot of people. Rip had apparently taken Adenosine instead of his regular drugs and he nearly died backstage. I think that was when Stallings decided he was truly done, he could deal with the bullies, the assholes and the politics but someone nearly dying in front of him, that was too much for him. Another career, ended by Rip Chord.

[RC] "Hey Kid. Long Time."

[NT] "Yeah. Long time, what's it been, two years?"

[RC] "Running on three, haha."

Rip's fake laugh tipped me off. Shouldn't have been the first thing, I mean how often do you think Rip Chord goes to indie shows in the middle of nowhere, Nebraska. But Rip wanted something, that's the laugh he'd use on the secretaries at HGC headquarters, on the bookers when he wanted a favour, on Stallings to grease him up, on the boys and on me when he wanted someone to make him look great at a house show. I loved Rip Chord, it was unexplainable why, maybe I didn't want to see my heroes fall, maybe it was pity. He did eventually turn his life around, or so I heard.

[NT] "What do you want, Rip?"

[RC] "What do you mean? I just wanted to visit an old friend, maybe see if he still had it, haha."

[NT] "There it is again"

[RC] "Kid, what are you talking about?"

[NT] "That stupid smile and that dumbass laugh you do. You're not fooling me Rip. So let's cut the crap and get to the point."

It might have come off a little harsh, but that's how you deal with Rip Chord. Rip is old school, that's just who he is, in my first year he was one of the top ribbers backstage and sought me out. He felt he needed to break me in to the industry. After I stood up to him, he left me alone, he saw a job complete. Of all the old school guys, Rip treated me the best, like a friend. Maybe that's why, after all the crap I've seen him do, I still respect the man. He was still a notorious asshole backstage, but he was at least genuine about it. And I respect that, and I think he respects that too.

[RC] "Well, damn kid. You got me."

[NT] "So, what is it?"

[RC] "Listen, it's freezing out here, so can we get inside the car?"

[NT] "Fine, get in. "

"So, what is it?"

[RC] "Listen, I'm running a little promotion in North Carolina. MAW, you may have heard of it."

[NT] "Oh yeah, I've heard of MAW. The breeding ground for the future stars. Rip Chord's love... no wait that's not right. Rip Chord's apology letter to professional wrestling. So yeah, I've heard of MAW."

[RC] "Okay good then, I want you to come work for me."

[NT] "What? No! And when I say no Rip, I mean hell no!"

[RC] "Wait, wait, wait. What do you mean hell no? Kid, you have talent, to much talent to putting over, Roidy McGrassgreen in front of 60 people for 100 bucks."

[NT] "So I should go to MAW, put over your grass-green kids, in front of 90 people? Is that right."

[RC] "Kid, I want you to mold these kids. Work with them and train them. Help me create the next generation of stars."

[NT] "You already have Jean, you don't need me."

[RP] "Jean is good, hell Jean is great. But Jean is a journeyman, someone for whom, working the indies is as good as it gets. But you are something special. You understand wrestling. More than moves. You get how to work the crowd. You have "IT" and as much as I love Jean, he doesn't."

[NT] "Rip, you can teach these kids all that, you don't need me. I'm doing just fine for myself. Steady stunt gigs, television writing, the occasional indie date. And what about your buddy Sam? Isn't he still pissed at me?"

[RC] "Kid, Sam deserved that. Honestly, Peter deserved a few slaps across the head himself. Sam, probably won't be happy. But that old fart can do his thing in Florida, he has no bearing on MAW. And kid, you have to move past that. Indie dates, is not where your career should end. Come on carve your name in the annals of history with Rip Chord. Be the foundation of pro-wrestling's future, become a legend. If not for me, do it for yourself. Do it for the guy who sacrificed everything for a taste of greatness, the guy who carried an old, drunk, haggard old man to amazing matches. Do it for Nirvana Prins."

After all these years Rip still cuts a hell of a promo. And it's almost enough to get me to agree. Rip was wrong about one thing though, I didn't carry Rip Chord to great matches, we had great matches together. Rip never forgot how to have a great match, how to work a crowd, how to be the big bad. Sure his body wasn't what it used to be, he wasn't as spry and athletic as he once was. But to the fans, it didn't matter. All he had to do, was be Rip Chord. And he was Rip Chord 100% of the time. He just needed someone to bump for him and I did that. Rip had a bigger hand in the great matches than I had. He was hard to say no to an offer like this. But I know Rip Chord and working with him in a match, and working under him are very different.

[NT] "The hard sell promo isn't going to work on me. My decision is final. The answer is no."

[RC] "Alright kid, fine. But I have one favor to ask of you. We have a show on the 28th. Stanley Hall, Charlotte. I want you to come, see MAW for yourself and then decide if you want the job or not."

[NT] "Damn it. I said no."

[RC] "I'm not leaving this car until you say 'yes'."

[NT] "So you're going to act like a child until you get your way? My word, you have not changed at all."

[RP] "Hey, it works doesn't it. So do you have an answer?"

[NT] "Fine, I'll go to the show."

[RP] "Excellent kid. That'll be $13.50 for the ticket."

[NT] "Get the hell out of my car Rip."

Rip exists the car, with his stupid, smug grin plastered over his face. I humored him and deep down, I probably wanted to say yes. But I had other responsabilites, an actual stable job and working for Rip might piss me off to much. But I made him a promise, if the show does impress me, I'll take the job. If not, well I'll let Rip down gently.

December 28th 2007

Charlotte, North Carolina

Stanley Hall

MAW-Night-Of-Champions.jpg

Nirvana-Topley.jpg

The atmosphere in Stanley Hall was intense as the rabid MAW fanbase were red hot all night. Less than 100 people were making more noise for a match between jobbers, than some midcarders were getting in TCW. Hell, Riley McManus got a bigger reaction than I did in my first two years in HGC. Riley McManus for Christ's sake. If the audience were not enough to get me to accept Rip's offer, the show certainly did it's job. Sure a lot of the matches weren't as smooth as I would of liked, but that was MAW's purpose. Take these lumps of coal and put them in the spotlight, put them under pressure and eventually you get diamonds.

The show was very good , I came in with low expectations and noticed a lot of things about the roster. There were certainly tiers to MAW. The stars, who could work pretty damn well and probably had a short time left in MAW; Erik Strong, Citizen X, Antonio, Jean and Patriot. The future stars, the ones who have a ton of talent and we just have to help them draw it out and become the stars they are destined to be; Cameron Vessey, The Canadian Blondes, Jefferson Stardust, Huey Cannonball and, as much as I hate to admit it, Casey Valentine. And then there's the Rip Chord vanity projects, the proof that in a short time Rip Chord's ego has taken over MAW, he thinks he can make anybody a star, the guys who just make up bodies on the roster; Riley McManus, Ricky Douglas, Max Mayhem, Findlay O'Farroday (Who I love by the way.) and Curtis Jenkins. Maybe those guys have potential and we'll definitely have to work hard to draw it out. Especially Findlay, I see something in that kid.

After the show

Rip-Chord-alt.jpg

Rip came up to me after the show, beaming with his cocky smile. Rip noticed I loved the show and he knew he had me.

[RP] "So kid, did you change your mind?"

[NT] "Yeah Rip, you got me."

[RP] "Excellent, I look forward to working with you. Now, we got some things we need to work out..."

[NT] "Not yet, I have a question."

[RC] "Shoot."

[NT] "How much control do I have? I know that you're not booking this alone. Marv and Jean probably have a hand, so who else do I have to worry about?"

Rip took a long time to ponder my question. He probably knew the answer and expected the question, but this is Rip Chord, he wanted to work me. See how long before I snapped. I didn't of course, I worked with Rip and seen him pull this trick with other guys before. I just had to wait him out.

[RC] "Well, the team right now is Me, Jean, Jay and Marv. You'll probably find a slot somewhere in there."

[NT] "Cut the bullshit Rip. I know for a fact, that you didn't come to the middle of nowhere, Nebraska to watch me wrestle some untalented lump of meat, to offer me a spot in a booking committee. So, I'm gonna ask you again, how much control will I have?"

[RC] "Okay kid. Majority control. The team is there to provide a sound board for ideas. But when push comes to shove, you have the final call."

[NT] "Seriously? Final call?"

[RC] "Well it is MY COMPANY, so on occasion I will interject. But most of the time you have full control. So do we have a deal?"

Rip extends his hand. We didn't need contracts to make this final. A handshake and our word meant more than that. And I extended mine too.

[NT] "Okay, we have a deal."

[RC] "Kid, I think this is the start of a long and fruitful partnership."

[NT] "Okay then, let's get to work."

[Rip] "Already"

[NT] "Yeah, I have some thoughts about the roster, they're good. But we need more guys. I have my eye on a few. Young and a little green, but they have loads of potential."

[RC] "I'm all ears kid."

So yeah, this is my attempt at an MAW dynasty set in 2008. Why MAW, well because I love the idea of the promotion, love me some Southern Rasslin' and love the idea of dealing with a backstage with immature children. And why 2008? My original plan was 2010. But I already have a 2010 Dynasty going, [Mick Foley plug incoming] SWF 2010: Reigning Supreme. And 2008 is an interesting year in the CV anyway. With DAVE dead, TCW with momentum, SWF falling and USPW just being bought out by Sam Strong. Along with a very good MAW roster, this seemed like the best year to do it. Well why the name Nirvana Prins? Take my first name and my mother's last name and bam, you get a name. Why this idea? Well I had the idea for TEW16, but by the time I'd thought of it the game was knocking on death's door. And finally why am I rambling like I have a word count to fill when no one actually cares? You got me there.

After spending a day talking to Rip about the company, the roster, the stories and MAW's future, today was the big day. Today I meet the booking committee and officially become head of creative for Mid Atlantic Wrestling. The meeting with the team went a lot smoother than I expected. The only pushback came from Cattley and that was quickly smoothed over. The dynamic of the team was obvious. Rip is very old school and wants slow burn stories with southern wrestling. Cattley has the classic, heel on top with a babyface chase mentality, how much of that was him just wanting to put the belt on himself I won't know. Jay has some very creative ideas, he definitely needs a filter, but he has some great ideas. A lot of awful ideas, but some great ideas sprinkled in there. Marvin, well Marv is an asskisser. There's no other way to describe it, he adds very little to the meeting, he just strokes Rip's ego and I bet he loves that. </p><p> </p><p>

The meeting was generally uneventful, we discussed the next 12 months, the roster and where they stand, the company finances, the company future and everyone's place in the committee. With most thing wrapped up, Rip made the approach on our new talent being brought in.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:left;"><p><strong>RC:</strong> So kid, that all?</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Rip smirked at me and opened up the floor. I was hoping he'd bring up the new additions, but it seems he's dumping this on me. I understand why he's doing it, I'm the head of creative. I should be comfortable talking to my team. Didn't make it less of a dick move though.</p></div><p></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>NT:</strong> No, there is one more thing. The roster, while good at the moment, is a little barebones and I think we need more guys.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>JC:</strong> Hold on. What do you mean bare? The point of MAW is to develop talent, get them ready for the future. More guys just means more people will be left off of shows. Not to mention the guys at the boot camp.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>NT:</strong> I completely understand that. And I can promise no one will lose their spot.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>ME:</strong> In all honesty this doesn't seem right. We got a roster here and a lot of talent why bring in more.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>NT:</strong> Well...</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>JF:</strong> There's definitely guys here who can be repurposed if it was more characters that you wanted, like you said earlier.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>NT:</strong> Okay, but...</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>MC:</strong> I don't see the need for...</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>NT:</strong> WILL EVERYONE SHUT THE HELL UP!</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>The room fell silent as I let my temper get the better of me. Sure it was probably unprofessional, but I was getting pissed off. Everyone looked shocked, minus Rip who was laughing his ass off. He knew what the team was like, and this was probably a test. To see how long I could hold before blowing my stack.</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>RC:</strong> Kid, you done? He talked to me about it beforehand and I agree. MAW need new faces and what better way to have talent improve than by having more guys for them to wrestle with?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>ME:</strong> That makes a lot of sense. Come to think of it, the guys have been rotating the same matches over and over again. Maybe some fresh faces can give them more opportunities? Y'know weed out the weak?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>NT:</strong> Thank you for that Marvin. This is the list.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>I handed them each a copy of a portfolio with each wrestlers name, picture, character and position in MAW. We had a brief discussion on each wrestler and their future roles. Some went a lot smoother than the rest. Jack Avatar, Kerry Wayne and Zoe Ammis I had worked alongside on the indies and had a lot of upside. They were going to be useful members of our roster and it was easy enough to convince the team of their worth. Cal Sanders was more difficult though. Everyone had the idea of him being a spot monkey, but I had worked with him in Canada and he could keep up with me in a technical match, he definitely has worth here. The Montreal Mafia (Marc Raisin and Dermot Ayres) are young and very green. But there is potential in them, at least for what I have planned. Ace Youngblood is a good hand who can slot into the roster with ease. The Big Problem however, well he was a challenge. He's not particularly good in the ring or on the microphone, but he's big. And in an old school setting like MAW, big guys are easy to get over. Just need to hide his flaws, actuate his talents and book him well. He was the only guy I had to use my booking power to overrule the team and that definitely left a sour taste in Jean's mouth. However in a few months when The Problem is MAW's biggest heel he will be eating crow. I hope.</p></div><p></p><p></p>

MID ATLANTIC CHAMPION

MAW-Erik-Strong.png

"The Shooting Star" Erik Strong

Topley's Thoughts: Erik is a good choice to lead MAW as our Champion. He's good looking, over with the audience and plays an amazing babyface. His style might not be what the MAW audience traditionally expects, but it works in his favor. Ever since Hernandez left there hasn't been many babyface high fliers on the roster and this will help Erik stand out. The only downside is he's a tad bland. While Jimmy played the cool babyface to a tee, Erik doesn't have that kind of charisma. My goal is to draw out a proper character for Erik, that will hopefully be what makes him stand out to the big leagues.

MID ATLANTIC TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS

MAW-Tag.jpgMAW-Tag.jpg

MAW-Flash-Savage.pngMAW-Oscar-Golden.png

The Canadian Blondes (Flash Savage and Oscar Golden)

Topley's Thoughts: In their second reign as Tag Team Champions Oz and Flash are decent choices. Talented, charismatic, pretty and foreign, they're good heels to lead the division. They're not the most talented team in MAW, but they're character work is second to none and the subtleties in their "Canadian Narcissist" gimmick draws good heat. Their big flaw is their in ring work, not particularly great their tag team work helps hide that as they have some great chemistry. However if it ever comes to singles matches they are definitely going to struggle. We need to get them polished if they ever want to get bigger than MAW so putting them in the ring with better workers will lead to improvement.

MAW.jpg

THE BIG HEELS

Stable-The-Firm.jpg

MAW-Mean-Jean.pngMAW-Cam-Vessey.pngMAW-Casey-Valentine.pngMAW-Ricky-Douglas.png

("Machine" Jean Cattley, Cameron Vessey, Casey Valentine and "Straight A" Ricky Douglas)

Topley's Thoughts: Our premiere heel stable, and the self professed "Kings of Wrestling", The Firm are a very good group to have right now. Thankfully dropping his awful "Mean Machine" gimmick (What happens when you don't filter out Jay's ideas) "Machine" Jean has been on a tear since last June and hasn't lost a match yet. With the second generational talent of Cam Vessey and Casey Valentine, living proof that genetics don't equal talent, the group have a great team in there. The odd one out is Ricky. Not particularly good at anything he makes up the numbers at the moment. Maybe there's something for him, but at the moment I've seen nothing. Some muscle is needed for this stable, but at the moment they are MAW's best assets.

MAW.jpg

THE BABYFACES

MAW-Ace-Youngblood.png

Ace Youngblood

Topley's Thoughts: Ace was one of the guys I recommended as he is talented. He does have some championship credibility from his time in 4C. However there still is a lot in this guy, maybe not a main eventer but a solid hand to have nonetheless.

MAW-Cal-Sanders.png

Cal Sanders

Topley's Thoughts: Another new face to MAW, Cal will fight right in with our old school styles. His work on the indies does not do him justice. He's a great technical wrestler and with his new steampunk look, he has a place on the roster.

MAW-Jack-Jericho.png

"The All-American" Jack Jericho

Topley's Thoughts: Jack has "STAR" written all over him. Perfect for MAW in both in-ring work, character and our purpose of developing future stars. With a very simple gimmick and great look he is someone who can main event for us within the a year.

MAW-Kerry-Wayne.png

"Mr. Australia" Kerry Wayne

Topley's Thoughts: Our import from down under "Mr. Australia" Kerry Wayne is someone who should be a star. The dead Australian has left him to be a diamond in the rough who should be on everyone's radar. With a great look and charisma, he should be a star for someone somewhere, right now we'll be busy drawing out his obvious star quality.

MAW-Marc-Raisin.pngMAW-Dermott-Ayres.png

The French-Canadian HellDogs (Marc "Hell" Raisin and "The Canadian Pit Bull" Dermott Ayres)

Topley's Thoughts: Formally known as The Montreal Mafia, The French-Canadian HellDogs are babyface additions to our dire tag team division. Neither of them scream "star" but with them both being young and able to grow into an effective tag team, they may both have a role in MAW for a while.

MAW-Masked-Patriot.png

The Masked Patriot

Topley's Thoughts: Other than Erik Strong, Patriot is currently our biggest babyface. With his excellent brawling skills, great look and easy-to-cheer for gimmick, he is an asset to MAW and a future star. Whether that is as the Patriot or Brandon Smith, we don't know yet.

MAW-Max-Mayhem.png

Max Mayhem

Topley's Thoughts: Max is not a star. He's not particularly charismatic or talented. However he does have something that I like about him. Probably best placed in a tag team.

MAW-Nirvana.png

"The Submission Magician" Nirvana Prins

Topley's Thoughts: I can't really put a note on myself. I do have talent and a look fans gravitate too. I will probably be lingering around the uppercard.

MAW-Riley-Mc-Manus.png

Riley McManus

Topley's Thoughts: Riley is bad. There is no other way to put him. While good looking, he is bland both in and out of the ring. On the babyface side, he has the worst potential.

THE HEELS

MAW-Antonio.png

Antonio

Topley's Thoughts: Outside of The Firm, Antonio is our top heel at the moment. With a good "Cocky Rich Kid" gimmick and the backstage influence of Rip himself, he has a future in MAW.

MAW-Citizen-X.png

Citizen X

Topley's Thoughts: Citizen X has probably the best gimmick in MAW at the moment. Toeing the line excelantly between Face and Heel, his anarchist gimmick really sets him apart from the rest of our roster. With good skills in the ring and his excellent character, he is bound to be a star in the world of wrestling.

MAW-Curtis-Jenkins.png

Curtis Jenkins

Topley's Thoughts: The Riley McManus of our heel roster. Might throw them in a tag team so they only stink up one match on the card.

MAW-Findlay.png

Findlay O'Farraday

Topley's Thoughts: Findlay has physical charisma and an intimidating presence. A lot of guys have made a career out of less. He has a physical and brutal style that should get him over. However he is very, very green. Not particularly good in the ring, he is very sloppy and needs a lot of work to become a good or even decent wrestler. However I do like him and will do my best to keep him protected.

MAW-Huey-Cannonball.png

"Amazing" Huey Cannonball

Topley's Thoughts: The unofficial third member of the Canadian Blondes, "The Amazing" Huey Cannonball has a great look and excellent charisma. While not particularly good in the ring, he makes up for it with character work. He will definitely improve while in MAW and doing tag matches will help him.

MAW-Jefferson-Stardust.png

"The Idol" Jefferson Stardust

Topley's Thoughts: Stardust is a future star. Great look, great on the mic, amazing gimmick and a fantastic character, he is one to watch. With Kristen Pearce adding to his gimmick amazingly and helping him draw heat, he's an anchor of the midcard. Unfortunately, in-ring wise he is the definition of a "spot monkey", doing flashy moves just for the sake of doing moves. He needs to tighten his ring work if he ever wants to become a major player.

MAW-Petr-Novak.jpg

"The Polish Hammer" Petr Novak

Topley's Thoughts: My biggest risk while taking over MAW. Formally known as The Big Problem, he has become known as "The Big Flop" among members of the industry and for good reason, he is not a good wrestler and he isn't particularly entertaining. But what he is, is big. With actual Polish roots the now-renamed Petr Novak, is a hire to prove a point. MAW is meant to be the breeding ground for the future and while it's all well and good to take people with some upside, what's harder to do is take a failure and morph them into something worthwhile and that is why we have Petr. He is here to make a statement, that no matter your past, in MAW anyone can be fixed.

MANAGERS

MAW-Ernest-Forthdyk-Hume.png

Ernest Forthdyk-Hume

Topley's Thoughts: EFH is good on the mic and has a decent gimmick. He adds a lot to Findlays act and does have a spot in MAW for the foreseeable future.

MAW-Kristen-Pearce.png

Kristen Pearce

Topley's Thoughts: Beautiful, charismatic and with a natural ability to work an audience, Kristen Pearce is an asset to MAW. Adding a lot to Stardust's "Rock God" character, she is a crucial part of his act and will have a role in MAW for as long as she is here.

MAW-Zoe-Ammis.png

Zoe Ammis

Topley's Thoughts: Where Novak is awful on the mic, Zoe makes up for it. With a decent Russian accent, good looks and a natural ability to play heel, she will pick up the slack where Petr fails. As long as we use the formula of "Zoe Talks, Petr Crushes" both should have a fruitful career here in MAW.

With only one week to go to the RCI, I was finally able to watch the boys work out their matches in the ring. Rip and I had put together the matches with them and now I'm finally able to see them in action. I felt an odd sense of pride watching Riley McManus lock up with Antonio. This feeling of bliss was interrupted by one of the boys coming up to me with a slightly embarrassed expression on his face.

???: Hey boss, can we talk?

NT: Sure, what is it?

??? Can.... we talk in your office? I got something to show you.

I got up and started moving towards my office. It was surprisingly tense as we walked past Oscar and Zoe, trying desperately to keep their new relationship a secret and failing. I just chalked it up to the fight that happened last month between the two. We made it to my office and I was handed a very official looking document. It wasn't long before I understood the tension.

NT: FU*&!

Atop the paper read "SUPREME SPORTS INC." and I dropped it down on the desk. I rubbed my hand through my hair as I didn't know how exactly to process what was happening.

NT: So.... SWF huh?

???: Yes. Mr. Eisen... Richard called me directly. He sees money in my gimmick and thinks I can connect with their core audience. I know Ozzie and Flash declined their offers last week, but this... I can't pass this up.

NT: Yeah... This.... It's the chance of a lifetime. I'm not gonna ask you to pass this up. Did you talk to Rip about this?

???: ....

I cracked an awkward smile to try to ease the tension, to no avail. I slowly nodded my head as I realised why he came to me. If this was TCW or USPW, he'd have gone straight to Rip. But this is SWF, this is Eisen... This is very different.

NT: You didn't talk to Rip.

???: You know how he feels about Eisen. I was hoping you could talk to him.

NT: I see... What about...

???: The RCI? I know you were going to "coronate" me. But this is big money, money I can't turn down. I did talk to Jerry and Eric though, they convinced Mr. Eisen to let me work the show.

NT: Rip is gonna be pissed. But you have my blessing at least. I'll talk to the guys and we'll rework things.

???: Glad you understand.

NT: Yeah, I understand. Call them in. We have work to do.

[Rip is handed a microphone by Marv Earnest as he shakes hands with the commentary team and enters the ring.]

[Rip stands in the center of the ring as the crowd serenade him with a "Ravishing Rip" chant as he fails to hide his smile.]

[RIP:] Ladies and gentleman, welcome to the third annual Rip Chord Invitational Tournament. This tournament is the embodiment of Mid Atlantic Wrestling. This tournament has provided the platform for the stars of tomorrow to make their impact today. And I am proud of what MAW and the Invitational has become. And none of this could be done without all of you here tonight, so to that I say "thank you".

[Antonio walks out and grabs a microphone from Marv Earnest at the desk. He walks into the ring and squares up to Rip. Rip looks ready to fight before Antonio raises his hand in front of Rip's face and begins to speak.]

ANTONIO: Calm down, Chord. I'm not going to beat the crap out of an old man. That would be bad for my image. And what's bad for my image, is bad for my wallet. And you should know, Chord. My wallet is everything. Now what's good for my wallet is winning the Invitational. So get your old ass out of Antonio's ring and let Antonio get to work.

[Rip raises his hands in an "I Understand" way and gets out of the ring. He hands the microphone back to Marv as Antonio throws his microphone at Marv. He begins to stretch as Rip makes his way to the back.]

Former NCAA Champion and All-American, Jack Jericho makes his debut in the Invitational tonight against Curtis Jenkins. Jericho offers to have a straight wrestling match with Jenkins who replies by slapping Jack across the face and punching him in the corner. Curtis starts the match in high gear as he's running around the ring keeping the match at a fast pace. Unfortunately for him, Jericho is able to take him to the ground and has complete control from then on. He hits a flurry of suplexes before hitting an "All American Slam" for the victory.

Nirvana Prins makes his debut tonight as the crowd are hot for the former HGC/TCW wrestler. His opponent Jefferson Stardust comes out accompanied by Kristen Pearce who is holding a clipboard that she shows to Stardust ahead of the match. Prins starts the match by targeting Jefferson's right arm. He continues to work the arm with ground moves and slams. Pearce gets on the rope and distracts him allowing Stardust to go after Prins' knee. Stardust works the knee, repeatedly getting instruction from Pearce. Stardust keeps Prins' down and goes up top for a "Stage Dive", however Prins moves out of the way. He grabs Stardust's leg and locks in an Ankle Lock. He then transitions into a Boston Crab, before again transitioning into a Crossface. Stardust quickly taps out, however Pearce is distracting the referee. Prins gets in here face and Stardust attempts a School Boy, however Prins rolls through and hits Stardust with a massive forearm across the face. He then lifts him up and hits a "Falcon Arrow" for the victory.

Stable-The-Firm.jpg

MAW-Mean-Jean.pngMAW-Casey-Valentine.pngMAW-Cam-Vessey.pngMAW-Ricky-Douglas.png

[The Firm make their way out behind the curtain and "Machine" Jean Cattley leads his associates to the interview podium. Cattley is greeted by Marv as they share a handshake. Casey and Cameron both offer and then pull back handshakes from Marv as they stand behind Jean hyping themselves up. Douglas stands to the wayside as he looks all business, neither smiling nor frowning.]

[MARV:]Welcome back fellas. Jean you have been in impressive form recently with six wins in six since June. Tonight not only will the rest of The Firm seek Tag Team Championship opportunities, but you will compete with Citizen X and MAW Champion Erik Strong for the Championship. How important is tonight for The Firm?

[CATTLEY:] Marv, tonight is a very important night for The Firm. It was this night two years ago when I, alongside Steven Parker, Al Coleman and this man right here, Ricky Douglas, first joined forces to form the greatest collection of talent in Professional Wrestling history at that point. I say at that point, because with Casey and Cameron right here, The Firm as only gotten stronger. You see Marvin, The Firm was formed with one singular purpose. To consolidate all the best talent in MAW, to consolidate all the championships in MAW and to control MAW. Because he who holds the gold, is the one with the power. And right now the most powerful man in Charlotte is not Rip Chord, hell it's not Pat McRory. It's Erik Strong. And tonight, when I plant him down with a Mood Swing, I will be the most powerful man in Charlotte. And when they squash those Canadian bugs, they become one step closer to the Tag Team Championships. You see Marv, this is a very important night for The Firm. For it is Step 1 in gaining complete control of Mid Atlantic Wrestling.

[MARV:] Ladies and Gentleman, The Firm.

[Cattley gives Douglas and C-V-2 a quick pep talk before walking to the back as they enter the ring ahead of their Six Man Tag Team match.]

Blondesv-Firm.png

The Firm and The Canadian Blondes have a contrast of styles as the high-flying Blondes are up against the technical and hard-hitting Firm. Oscar and Flash have seamless teamwork and amazing chemistry as they have control for the majority of the time either of them are in the ring. Unfortunately whenever Huey is in the ring, it all falls apart. Casey, Cameron and Ricky are able to keep him in their half of the ring. The Blondes get back into the match as the two teams get into a massive brawl in the ring. Oscar and Flash take out Casey and Ricky as Huey is brawling with Cameron. Flash and Golden hit stereo dives on Casey and Ricky, however Vessey pushes Cannonball into Oscar, which makes him miss his dive on Casey. Huey is able to counter a suplex attempt into a DDT. He sets up Vessey in the corner for a "Cannonball Run", however he is intercepted and takes a "Shot Of Valentine" from Casey. This allows Vessey to hit a "Vessey Driver 2.0" for the victory.

[Marv Earnest is once again at the interview podium.]

[MARV:] Ladies and Gentlemen, Citizen X.

MAW-Citizen-X.png

[Citizen X makes his way out behind the curtain as the crowd vehemently boo "The Anarchist".]

[MARV:] Mr. X, you have repeatedly stated your disdain for Mid Atlantic Wrestling as an organization. Why throw your hat in the ring for a Championship match?

[X hesitates before answering the question as the crowd begin to boo him again. An older portion of the audience start a "Commie Bastard" chant at him. X's smile grows and grows as he revels in the hatred the Mid Atlantic fanbase throw at him.]

[CITIZEN X:] Mid Atlantic Wrestling is a breeding ground for organised control. Barbarism for the sake of entertainment for people who give their money to corporations who control them. And then they attack me for trying to open their eyes to the corruption that holds them down. They attack their saviors.

[MARV:] I'm sorry, I hate to interrupt my guests. But they don't hate you for opening their eyes, you repeatedly insult these people.

[CITIZEN X:] They hate me, for I tell them the truth. They have been brainwashed by the true elite. By the New World Order, by the --

[MARV:] Give me a damn bre--

[CITIZEN X:] The past was erased, the erasure was forgotten, the lie became the truth. These people grovel at the feet of a flag. The flag of a nation built on valleys of blood. Then they have the audacity to celebrate the lives of those who bloodied those valleys. Your inability to understand this, shows your blindness to the truth and proves that you are just as brainwashed as all of them. This interview is over.

[X tosses the microphone at Marv before going to the bleachers. He starts jawjacking with the audience before leaving through the curtain.]

Jericho seems to have learnt from his mistake earlier in the night and immediately rushes Antonio taking him to the mat and working him over. Antonio is crafty however and his training from Rip Chord shows as he's spacial awareness allows him to escape Jericho's grasp and hook the bottom rope. Jericho's attempt at more mat wrestling is countered as Antonio gets in a swift eye poke and turns the match into a brawl. Jericho is able to get in the lead again and starts driving Antonio into the corner. He gets a head of steam and goes for a diving spear in the corner, but Antonio rolls out of the ring. He grabs Jericho in a school boy and has his feet on the ropes for the win.

Prins and Patriot lock horns in a clash of styles. The monstrous Masked Patriot uses his size advantage to take the early lead of this match. He throws Prins around like a ragdoll and impressively presses him over his head before dumping him in the centre of the ring. Patriot attempts to splash Prins in the corner, however Prins moves out of the ring and dropkicks Patriot's leg. He stomps his knees which keeps him down. He begins working the arm and keeps Patriot down. They start trading momentum, until Prins hits a massive knee to Patriot's jaw. He goes up top for a Frog Splash, however Patriot moves out of the way. Patriot raises Prins for a "Backdrop Driver", however Prins wriggles himself out and chop blocks Patriots knee. He swiftly wraps his leg around Patriot's arm and locks in the Crossface for the win.

Prins and Antonio start the match staring down at each other before Prins offers a fist bump to Antonio, which he decline. Prins attempts a German Suplex, but Antonio goes after Prins' hurt leg. He methodically works the leg as he brings the match down to a snail's pace. Antonio wraps his leg around the bottom rope and starts stomping it. Antonio's "Italian DDT" is countered into a flurry of German Suplexes. Prins' 4th Suplex attempt results in his knee buckling and Antonio takes control again. Antonio begins to get cocky and stands on Prins' knee as he poses. He climbs the middle rope and hits a Diving Knee Drop on Prins' knee. He begins slapping Prins before hitting a Back Suplex. He then lifts Prins' up for an "Italian DDT", however Prins counters into a Dropkick. He attempts a "Falcon Arrow", but his knee buckles and he is hit with an "Italian DDT". Antonio pins him, but Prins kicks out at 2. Antonio gets frustrated and tries to lock in a Figure-Four Leglock, but Prins rolls it into a small package. Antonio kicks out at 2. Antonio rushes Prins, who counters with a Belly-To-Belly Suplex. Antonio get's up and Prins goes for a "Falcon Arrow" again and Antonio slips out. Antonio goes for an "Italian DDT", but Prins counters and locks in the Crossface and Antonio finally taps.

[Prins can barely stand as Jay Fair raises his hand. He looks down at Antonio and slowly kicks him out of the ring. He hobbles towards the middle of the ring as raises his hands in the air as the crowd cheer. Unfortunately he collapses down to one knee as he celebrates. Rip Chord enters the arena and has the Rip Chord Invitational Trophy in his hand. He enters the ring and helps Prins up. He hands him the trophy and he and Prins embrace in the center of the ring. The crowd cheer as the two are in the ring. Rip leaves and allows Prins his moment with the Trophy. He raises it above his head, but once again buckles under the pressure. Strongvs-Xvs-Cattley.png

Strong begins the match working together with X to take down Cattley. The two highfliers then begin to work a high flying match. Cattley rushes back into the ring and all three men start brawling. X and Cattley both grab ahold of Strong and launch him out of the ring. X is then attacked by Cattley as he takes him to the ground and begins to outwrestle him. He hits a massive Powerbomb on X. He lifts him for a second Powerbomb, but it is countered into a Frankensteiner. X begins stomping away at Cattley in the corner, before hitting a Tornado DDT on him. Strong pulls X out of the ring and drives his face into the turnbuckle. Strong gets into the ring but is rolled up by Cattley.
