Hey folks, I've been in two minds about posting about this so early on in crafting this mod (although I've probablt put at least twenty hours into it so far) but I figured that 'going public' would be good encouragement for me to see it through. I thrive under added pressure, apparently. This was a mod I started for TEW 2016 but never quite finished so I decided to re-tool and update it or 2020.

 

What is the LanceVerse?

Basically, the LanceVerse is an alternate reality of the real world, only all of those actors, musicians, models and even online personalities you see on a daily basis are instead involved in the professional wrestling industry. It's not the most unique concept in the world, no, but I've always connected better to games when I can connect faces I recognise to characters and I thought this would, at the very least, be a bit of fun and perhaps worth sharing.

 

Right now the workers I'm including (currently got two-hundred and forty loaded up, although some are missing bios and pictures) are all based on my own interests but the hope is that once I have my initial database finished I'll expand to include areas I'm not as invested in. As such, the starting world will be much more limited than most other mods out there but for a first-time database maker I wanted to keep things small and achieveable!

 

Currently there are six promotions: three operating out of the USA, two from Canada and one from the UK. One of those promotion is all-male, another is all-female, one features integrated wrestling and the other three feature women's division of varying importance. The goal is for each promotion to offer something different in terms of product and playstyle.

As I'm still working from home (teacher life, yo!), my level of progress each day varies and I won't be setting myself a deadline. Knowing that I've shared this much publically will be enough to keep my head in the game because I don't like not seeing through things I've announced.

 

I will be updating this thread with progress posts as well as some information on both the companies and the workers. Some of it reflects the real life backstories of those individuals - with a wrestling twist, of course! - while some are a little more out there and should hopefully be fun for folks to discover in the future.

The <strong>National Wrestling League</strong> is the second largest wrestling company currently operating out of the USA and is an all-male promotion. It runs two weekly shows - the two-hour flagship, <strong>NWL Friday Night Wrestling</strong>, and the B-Show <strong>NWL Monday Night Wrestling</strong>. </p><p> </p><p>

Most of the promotion's wrestlers are graduates of <strong>The Grid Iron</strong>, a training school run by NWL's founder and CEO <strong>Derrick Headley</strong>. The performance centre exclusively produces male trainees. Headley is described by some as 'Intense' and even a 'Control Freak'.</p><p> </p><p>

The company's figurehead is currently <strong>Brett Colesworth</strong>, a three-time NWL Champion, who also has a contract with Hollywood Elite Wrestling. His third reign as champion came to an end at the hands of <strong>Jonathan Stark</strong> in November 2019, who is now attempting to prove himself as a first-time world champion. Other major stars and perrenial title-chasers in NWL include <strong>Clyde Goddman</strong>, a two-time NWL Champion, and <strong>Ramon Cole</strong>, a NWL Champion in his own right.</p><p> </p><p>

The current <strong>NWL United States Champion</strong> is the entertaining <strong>Kade Briggs</strong> who won the title in May 2019 to begin a dominant reign. The most recent winner of the annual <strong>NWL Rising Star Tournament</strong> (a tournament open to any athlete who has never held a title in NWL) was <strong>Jason Browne</strong>, who has been dutifully working on silencing his detractors. Other future stars of the promotion include <strong>Zach Kyler</strong>, a former winner of the NWL Rising Star Tournament himself and one half of the current NWL Tag Team Champions, and <strong>M.J. Barton</strong>, who works a high flying style is known to be something of a 'Class Clown' in the locker room.</p><p> </p><p>

The tag team division in NWL is a competitive scene in its own right. <strong>Offensive Unit</strong>, the team of <strong>Luke Ostlund</strong> and <strong>Jeff Leben</strong>, are two-time title holders, as are <strong>The Goddman Brothers</strong>, <strong>Clayton </strong>and <strong>Clinton</strong>, who form a three-man stable with their older brother Clyde. Another pair of brothers who are former tag team champions are <strong>The Reilly Brothers</strong>, <strong>Theo </strong>and <strong>Tommy</strong>, who are both young but seem to have a lot of upside. With their contrasting personalities (Theo as a 'Party Animal' while Tommy is 'Relaxed') it isn't entirely impossible for the duo to separate and enjoy their own solo runs in the future too!</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Fight Club Wrestling is a Canadian-based promotion offering an Anti-Establishment Hardcore product. They have one television show currently on air, Fight Club Weekly. They offer an integrated product with both male and female workers, although the roster is primarily dominated by men. It is currently the smallest promotion in the mod and has thirty active wrestlers on its roster.

 

 

FCW was founded by hardcore legend Abraham Royce in early 2013 and he was even the first Hardcore Champion in the promotion. The head booker is Royce's former rival Sergei Roma who, like Royce, enjoyed success as a champion in Hollywood Elite Wrestling during the nineties. Their selfish and sleazy attitudes respectively are known to make the backstage area at FCW turbulent from time to time.

 

 

Seemingly duelling for the position of company figurehead are Erik Bradbury and Ambrose Perry. Bradbury is a former MMA fighter who transitioned into professional wrestling in 2018 and captured the Hardcore Championship in May 2019. Perry is a former two-time United Kingdom Champion from his time on with Tea & Biscuits Wrestling, and is a three time Hardcore Champion, enjoying a fourteen month reign from November 2013 to January 2015, the longest uninterrupted reign by anyone in FCW history.

 

 

Other notable wrestlers on the FCW roster include Kenneth York, who left HEW to escape the shadow of his older brother. He has since gone on to enjoy a reign with the Hardcore Championship from August 2017 to April 2018. The person he beat for the championship was none other than Taya Delacruz, the only woman to ever hold the Hardcore Championship since its inception in 2013. She also works for the only other promotion based out of Canada, WWA, where she is a former Women's World Champion and Women's Tag Team Champion. Rick Koscheck was the arrogant champion who thought there was no chance of him ever losing his title to a woman, only to be humbled by Delacruz after she forced him to submit in the eventual title match. Since then he has been on a mission to get revenge, and even captured the Hardcore Championship for a second time by beating York, although he only held it for three months before being defeated by Perry.

 

There are plenty more faces on the FCW roster to enjoy but I want to leave some room for surprises. I'll be back next time with a look into one of the more family-friendly promotions in the mod!

<strong>Tea & Biscuits Wrestling</strong> is a promotion based in South England that is currently owned by CEO Mark Reed. It airs one weekly programme at prime time every Thursday, <strong>Tea Time Wrestling</strong>, and offers a Three Ring Circus style in its attempt to cater to as broad a audience as possible. Its pay-per-view events include <strong>'TBW Mildly Upsetting'</strong> and <strong>'TBW Really Concerning'</strong>. It is the second oldest wrestling promotion in the game after Hollywood Elite Wrestling, having opened in 1990.</p><p> </p><p>

Many of the younger members of the TBW roster are graduated from the <strong>UK Wrestling Academy</strong>, a mixed-gender training school that was opened by <strong>Adam Collins</strong>, a former member of the TBW roster who now works for Hollywood Elite Wrestling. Female members of the roster may instead be graduates of the <strong>Aphrodite Academy</strong>, a training facility run by <strong>Penelope Troy</strong>, who enjoyed a legendary run with the United Kingdom Women's Championship between 2002 and 2005, the longest of any title holder in the promotion's history.</p><p> </p><p>

The current United Kingdom Champion is <strong>Tommy Montague</strong>, enjoying his second run with the title. He has also previously held the European Championship and the United Kingdom Tag Team Championship with his mentor <strong>Devon Stout</strong>, himself a four-time United Kingdom Champion. Joining them at the top of the card are <strong>Riley McCabe</strong>, the pride of Wales, and <strong>Nick Essex</strong>, the best brawler on the TBW roster. Both men have previously been world champions in the promotion; indeed it was Essex that Montague beat in Dcember 2019 to began his latest reign, after McCabe ended Montague's first run in May 2018.</p><p> </p><p>

While TBW has sometimes suffered from losing its biggest stars to rival promotions, such as Collins signing with Hollywood Elite Wrestling or Ambrose Perry going to Fight Club Wrestling, it does have a number of older wrestlers who have remained with them throughout their entire careers. <strong>Tristan Lamb</strong> is one such individual, having seven title reigns to his name between the United Kingdom Championship and Tag Team Championships. <strong>Louis Hickman</strong> is a five-time world champion who has slowly begun transitioning into a road agent role in recent years as his physical skills declined, although he's still capable of putting on a great match with the right opponent. The third such individual is <strong>Rowan Glanville</strong> who made his debut for the promotion in 1995 and retired at the end of 2016 after seven reigns with a championship belt, which earned him a place in the TBW Hall of Fame. He now works with the promotion as a road agent.</p><p> </p><p>

Six years ago <strong>Ronnie Wilson</strong> and <strong>Rían O'Kelleher</strong> were members of <strong>Upwards Momentum</strong>, a five-man faction that broke merchandise records for the promotion, particularly with its youth audience. While the other three members of their stable have either moved on to other promotions or taken an early retirement, both Wilson and O'Kelleher have become regular presences in the midcard scene. Indeed, Wilson is currently the reigning European Champion in his second reign, with O'Kelleher eyeing up a second reign with the title for himself too. Could these former teammates end up spiralling into rivals?</p><p> </p><p>

The biggest threat in TBW's tag team division currently are the <strong>Men With Money</strong>, a three-man stable consisting of <strong>Quentin Wooldridge</strong>, <strong>Nolan Dukes</strong> and <strong>Dominic McFadden</strong>, who are accompanied by TBW Hall of Famer <strong>Rufus Miller</strong>. The stable previously held the UK Tag Team Championships in 2011 before falling victim to the Upwards Momentum push, but as of 2018 began a comeback aided by Miller which resulted in a second run with the title. Each of the three active competitors is also a former European Champion, and Miller enjoyed a run with the United Kingdom Championship between 1993 and 1994.</p><p> </p><p>

The Men With Money's current rivals are the reigning tag team champions, the pairing of <strong>Graeme Cornell & Hughie Poolworth</strong>. The duo joined forces in an attempt to quell the Men With Money's arrogance and won the titles in December 2019. This is Cornell's third run with the tag titles; all three reigns were with a different parter, with one being with Quentin Wooldridge himself. Another pair of former champions are <strong>Darren Corbett</strong> and <strong>Gary Kowalski</strong>, better known as the team <strong>Drift Compatible</strong>, who have captured the tag titles four times already, as well as both enjoying varying levels of singles success.</p><p> </p><p>

TBW's women's division is currently wide open, as it lacks any central star to gravitate around. <strong>Ingrid Kenworth</strong> and <strong>Tessa Holt</strong> are both former United Kingdom Women's Champions who pose a threat to the reigning champion, <strong>Daria Thomson</strong>. Thomson was a graduate from the Aphrodite Academy along with <strong>Jane Whitland</strong>, who is yet to capture championship gold herself. Both Thomson and Whitland are proteges of Penelope Troy, who remains with TBW on an occassional wrestler contract.</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

While this is, as promised, a pretty hefty update, it's also only about a third of TBW's total roster at this moment of time. I'm likely to add even more wrestlers to boost its ranks even further. Rather than another promotion preview, I thought I would instead share some Event graphics that I cooked up and added to the mod this morning. Graphic making is definitely not my strong point, but I had some fun putting them together so here they are, oragnised by promotion:

 

 

I'm yet to show off the Austin Championship Wrestling (ACW) promotion but they run a pretty basic PPV schedule by holding an event every last Sunday of a month, with appropriately titled names for said events.

 

 

Fight Club Wrestling currently runs six PPV events per year, all of which feature suitably violent names and a consistent icon style.

 

 

The National Wrestling League has been my personal favourite promotion to play as so far and make sure is well balanced. They currently run eight PPV events a year and, given the promotion's inspiration, I think you'll all agree that they're suitably named too! To mimic the real life football season, the events are scheduled more frequently during the fall and the winter months, with a lighter schedule throughout the rest of the year.

Turner was a five-time champion in HEW and captured WWA's <strong>Women's World Championship</strong> in 2017. </p><p> </p><p> The current Women's World Champion is <strong>April Savage</strong>, who enjoyed two championship reigns in TBW before signing with WWA in 2017. A rare veteran main eventer without a history in either HEW or TBW is <strong>Josephine Hamilton</strong>, who plays heel just about better than anybody else on the WWA roster and has played the role of the detestable champion twice since being one of the promotion's very first signings.
