Total Championship Wrestling: The Rhodes To Redemption

Recommended Posts

[OOC: Unlike previous diaries of mine, this one is going to be pretty much "kayfabe", meaning there won't be much in the way of behind-the-curtain narrative updates. It's not that kind of diary. There isn't an elaborate backstory either, which when I came up with the subtitle made me sad. Anything important that happens will be relayed in the form of website articles as per below, the idea being they're diary-relevant snippets you see as you're browsing wrestling news. The diary is going to be more focused on the shows themselves. My user character is Kyle Rhodes, playing as TCW Owner. Nothing about the default database has been changed beforehand.]

TCW Expands North

Posted Tuesday, Week 1, January 2020 at 14:28 by Scott Devlin

Deals were signed today between TCW and two Canadian broadcasting companies.

Canada 1-Choice have added TCW PPVs to its line-up, which also includes Canadian Wrestling Alliance events. The agreement will start with Malice in Wonderland in three weeks. The exact details of the contract aren’t yet known, but it’s believed that it specifies that only their regular monthly PPVs are included in the deal, leading to speculation that TCW management are brewing a different type of content for alternative distribution.

TCW’s weekly show, Total Wrestling (recently re-branded from the more wordy “TCW Presents Total Wrestling” as part of a recent focus on branding) will also now be carried in Canada on terrestrial broadcaster Maple Leaf Sports. Industry insiders believe that Maple Leaf Sports were likely as low as third on the company’s preferred list of carriers, however CBN are known to be uninterested in additional wrestling content after securing the Canadian Wrestling Alliance deal last year. Sources report TCW felt that IC-TV’s demands were too high for the time slot on offer.

MLS and TCW arrived at a six-month “trial” agreement for Total Wrestling to be broadcast at 10:30pm, after the night’s hockey programming has finished. This is half an hour later than it's shown in the US, which is likely to annoy some fans.

MLS have the first option at extending the deal and moving to a more friendly timeslot if both parties remain happy with it in six month's time. TCW’s cut of the advertising revenue is expected to be around 25%.

When approached for comment, TCW's new head of marketing and media relations, David Lyrium, stated "this has been a long time coming for TCW. We felt the timing was right to make this deal and the hope is that in future TCW will hold TV tapings in Canada for the first time ever".

Rapid Recap - TCW Psycho Circus 2019

Posted Saturday, Week 3, December 2019 at 22:43 by Meredith Prideux.

TCW World Heavyweight Championship

Aaron Andrews d. Joshua Taylor in a great, cleanly contested bout lasting nearly half an hour.

Freddy Huggins d. Sammy Bach via interference from Jay Chord. Good match, felt a bit like the entire purpose was for Chord to interfere, so mostly killing time until it happened. As far as killing time goes though, it was great fun.

TCW Tag Team Championship

The Behemoths d. Mighty Meaty after Nick Booth levelled Tana whilst Eddie Peak had the ref distracted. Decent brawl, but rather short.

Jay Chord d. One Man Army in a good, if bland and uninspiring match. Felt every bit like the filler it was.

Dave Diamond d. Eddie Peak A good, energetic brawl. Nice change of pace from the chaos of the previous match, and a fitting end to the brief Peak/Diamond storyline to allow Peak to concentrate on the main Sinners feud.

Eight-Man Tag Match

Devine Fortune & Benny and the Foxx d. The Elite, Maverick and Greg Gauge. Decent eight-man tag match. Maverick had Devine beaten near the end, but Johnson hot-tagged himself in because he wanted Elite to get the pinfall. This, and the ensuing argument, gave Devine enough time to get to his corner and tag Benson, who cleaned house (including a sweet dropkick to Gauge, sending him crashing into the ringside barrier). Benson then pinned Johnson for the win.

Doc Hammond d. T-Bone Bright. Decent, fun opener. Bright looked good even in defeat.

TCW Total Wrestling Preview - Week 1, January 2020

The Syndicate challenge Aaron Andrews to a tag match, but who will be Ace’s partner?

Sammy Bach demands a rematch vs. Freddy Huggins, understandably unhappy with the way their match ended at Psycho Circus. Huggins has confirmed that’s just fine by him!

In another rematch of sorts from the PPV, Mighty Meaty have challenged The Sinner’s Society to a match; all THREE of them! Surely they can’t mean to fight three against two with Peak and Goldworthy hanging around ringside also? What's the plan here?

Edd Stone faces Marc Speed, with the winner getting a shot at Greg Gauge’s TV Title next week.

Who knows what else might happen?! It’s sure to be an action-packed start to the new year in TCW! Be sure to tune in Tuesday, 10pm Eastern on ACE. Now also available in Canada on Maple Leaf Sports!

Quick-picks:

Wolf Hawkins & Doc Hammond vs. Aaron Andrews & ???

Sammy Bach vs. Freddy Huggins

Mighty Meaty vs. The Sinner's Society (The Behemoths & Nick Booth w/ Eddie Peak & Floyd Goldworthy)

Edd Stone vs. Marc Speed
