Jan 1970 - Sept (Wk.2) 1972

WWWF World Heavyweight - Antonio Inoki

WWWF US Heavyweight - The Spoiler

WWWF Light Heavyweight - Ray Stevens

WWWF World Tag Team - Ivan Koloff & Nikolai Volkoff (The Iron Curtain) (x2)

WWWF US Tag Team - Gene Kiniski & Earl Maynard (Kiniski & Mr. Universe)

Jan 1970 - Nov (Wk.1) 1972

WWWF World Heavyweight - Antonio Inoki

WWWF US Heavyweight - Wahoo McDaniel (x2)

WWWF Light Heavyweight - Abe Jacobs (x2)

WWWF World Tag Team - Ernie Ladd & Sweet Daddy Siki

WWWF US Tag Team - Giant Baba & Bull Ramos

Antonio Inoki has been a steady and active champion. So far he's finished off his trilogies with The Destroyer and Ivan Koloff. It's the tip of the iceberg though. Destroyer held the belt long enough as a heel that he had exhausted nearly every face on the roster. It's a loooooooooong list of contenders for Inoki.

Wahoo came back from his injury to uncork a WWWF classic and win his US Championship 2 falls to 1. In turn, he injured The Spoiler eye-for-an-eye and now has all of Gary Hart's Syndicate hunting him down. They drew first blood!

Abe Jacobs came back from a long injury to rocket right back into a Light Heavyweight title shot. At first The Bomber was hesitant as it looked like Bobby Heenan was hand picking his opponents, but Jacobs threw down the gauntlet and submitted his opponent in 21min. Their series continues and looks to be settled at Madison Square Garden at the end of November.

The tag team scene went through a major shake up. The once vaunted Can-Am Alliance with Gorilla Monsoon & Mark Lewin AND Gene Kiniski & Earl Maynard both lost their World & US tag belts. It wasn't a planned execution by any of the usual miscreants (JJ Dillon, Gary Hart, or Bobby Heenan) just pure coincidence.

Ernie & Sweet Siki look to keep their World Tag Team belts as they shockingly procured the management of one Buddy Rogers. Bruno & Pedro were not amused. Rogers responded to his team's victory, "To a nicer tag team, it couldn't happen".

Giant Baba & Bull Ramos are on quite the tear, but Baba's AJPW commitments have kept them from defending the US tag titles as often as the WWWF would like him to. The Great Kabuki steps in as a replacement, but then the titles are no longer on the line too. They're still stuck in a series with Gene Kiniski & Earl Maynard, so there's a good chance the Can-Am boys could get their belts back before it's all said and done.

Outside News: AJPW was formed by Giant Baba's fiancé Motoko Ito in October.

I am playing a WCW game that started in August 1996 and I have now played through the end of 1996. Here are my champs post-Starrcade '96.

Heavyweight: "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan

Tag Team: The Outsiders

Unites States: Chris Benoit

Television: Syxx

Cruiserweight: Chris Jericho

World War 3 Winner: Ric Flair

Currently I am all in on the nWo is dominating WCW holding all the titles except Cruiserweight and the World War 3 MATCH, yes, I have Benoit in the nWo. I want to go hard on the nWo domination for a period with a firm ending in sight, rather than drag out this nWo vs. WCW angle for four years like it was done in real life.

Jan 1970 - Nov (Wk.1) 1972

WWWF World Heavyweight - Antonio Inoki

WWWF US Heavyweight - Wahoo McDaniel (x2)

WWWF Light Heavyweight - Abe Jacobs (x2)

WWWF World Tag Team - Ernie Ladd & Sweet Daddy Siki

WWWF US Tag Team - Giant Baba & Bull Ramos

Jan 1970 - Jan (Wk.1) 1973

WWWF World Heavyweight - Antonio Inoki

WWWF US Heavyweight - Wahoo McDaniel (x2)

WWWF Light Heavyweight - Johnny Valiant

WWWF World Tag Team - Ernie Ladd & Sweet Daddy Siki

WWWF US Tag Team - Pedro Morales & Victor Rivera

End of 1972 closed out nice and tidy with a couple small surprises.

Baba & Ramos had lost their US tag titles to Earl Maynard & Mark Lewin at the end of November, who then immediately campaigned for a shot at Ladd & Siki's World tag belts. Vacating the belts left them open for #2 contenders, Morales & Rivera, to keep Baba & Ramos from winning them back. As Pedro & Victor prevaled, they promised to take some time defending the belts. Gary Hart booted Giant Baba from The Syndicate and kayfabe left the WWWF for "greener pastures" (i.e. wrestling in AJPW & IWE to a very full schedule).

Johnny Valiant stole Abe Jacobs' Light Heavyweight title with some help from Freddie Blassie and Billy Graham. Infuriating the crowd, Johnny V ducked out of MSG while Billy Graham threw Jacobs into a torture rack. Jimmy Valiant (who has turned face on Johnny V since losing the US tag belts) ran out to clear the chaos from the ring.

Ernie Ladd & Sweet Daddy Siki continue their reign as World tag team champions. This time things seem certain as Siki is proving to be a better partner than Koloff was a year ago.

Inoki and Wahoo seem invincible, both men respecting their positions within the company. Each man has polished off their foes, and they're always looking forward to the next challenge. Signing a contractual treaty with Bruno Sammartino & Andre the Giant present things look strong for the foundation of the WWWF.

The House of Heenan are in rebuild. The Destroyer has been more of a ringside general, Bobby Heenan has been dealing with Buddy Rogers in the broadcasting booth, Stevens couldn't get revenge on Jacobs, etc, etc. Bobby and Guy have taken to scouting out some new talent. The Blackjacks, Don Muraco, and J Powers (Johnny Powers from NWF with a narcissist gimmick) have all experienced some level of "tryout" or "scouting".

Awards for 1972

Wrestler of the Year - Bruno Sammartino (WWWF) (x2)

Tag Team - Bruno Sammartino and Pedro Morales (WWWF)

Young - Jerry Briscoe (Tri-State/WSS)

Veteran - Gene Kiniski (WWWF/PCAC/PNW)

Match - The House of Heenan (The Destroyer, Bockwinkel & Stevens) vs Gorilla Monsoon, Bruno Sammartino, and Pedro Morales (96 @ WWWF MSG Showcase)

Card - WWWF MSG Showcase: June (100)

Manager - Bobby Davis (AWA) (x2)

Announcer - Joe Garagiola (SLWC)

Color - John "Coach" Heath (WWA/PNW/GCCW)

Referee - Paul Morton (MA/WWA) (x2)

Top 10 for 1972

1. Bruno Sammartino (WWWF) (x2)

2. Ray Stevens (WWWF)

3. Nick Bockwinkel (WWWF)

4. Antonio Inoki (WWWF)

5. Pedro Morales (WWWF)

6. Antonio Inoki (WWWF)

7. The Destroyer (WWWF/CWF/JCP)

8. Wahoo McDaniel (WWWF)

9. Abe Jacobs (WWWF)

10. Spiros Arion (WWWF/CWF/JCP)

Random news: WWWF traded Danny Hodge's remaining contract to JCP as he had requested out due to lack of use. Luckily WWWF's renewed talent exchange with JCP allowed a swift move to get Bob Roop into the ranks at WWWF.

JCP and CWF are now feuding with each other. Also, EMLL looks to be out of business by the end of 1973.
