Well, I guess to be more honest, it starts in early childhood when I discovered my love for all things wrestling. I grew enthralled with SWF and HGC from the US, and the Hammer from Japan. I got lots of tapes, and devoured every moment. And then, at a family event (I can't remember which one), I met Kashmir Singh. He was family, of a sort. I mean, he was like the brother in law of a sister in law of my mother, or something like that. I was never very clear on the actual relationship, but there was a real-life wrestler, part of my family. So of course, he quickly became my favorite. I started watching his work with PSW and FCW, shelling out what little allowance I had to get some tapes shipped over. Talked to him off and on over the years, starstruck fan to indy wrestler. But that was about it, or so I thought.

Anyway, back to Diwali. Our celebration was another one of those huge extended family things, with probably around four or five hundred people in the building. Everyone was mingling. When Kashmir came up to me instead of the other way around. "Heya, Baljit." Yes, my name is really Baljit. His isn't really Kashmir, but that's another story. "You still watching wrestling?" Well, go figure. I'm starstruck again. I kind of stammer for a bit before I'm able to stutter out, "Uh, yeah, a bit. The big companies mostly now that you're not wrestling anymore."

And then, he dropped the bomb. "I would have thought you'd have come to the Academy when I opened it up, then. It always seemed to be in your wheelhouse. Why didn't you sign up? You're eighteen now, right?"

More stammering. Yeah, really putting on an air of confidence here, Baljit. "Uh, well...I wasn't sure if you'd remember me. And trying to use family connections just seemed wrong, somehow."

"Nonsense. To be honest, I was kind of surprised not to see your face. No worries, though. The MWA is just the first step to bringing the industry here, and I think you'd be perfect for the next step." He paused, and I almost certainly had a terribly confused look on my face. "The Academy is there to train people. But what good is training people if there's no place for them to put on a show. I'm starting a real federation, based in Delhi."

I snapped out of my shock. He wasn't saying what I thought he was, was he? "You mean, you want me to come wrestle for you? Yes, definitely, yes!"

He shook his head, but just slightly. "Baljit, calm down. I'm not here to ask if you want to wrestle, though that could certainly be on the cards if you wanted. No, I've been watching your posts. Your storyline ideas with the big guys? I think they're brilliant. And if I'm honest, my creative ideas are lacking. I don't want you just as a wrestler. I want you to run the show. What do you think?"

Yep. There I am, staring at my hero. My idol, who has just asked me to book and honest to go professional wrestling company. Waiting for my answer, and I'm just standing there like an idiot. Believe me, I was yelling at myself in my head. Finally, I snapped out of it, and cautiously asked the proper question. "Are...are you sure? I'm eighteen, and I have NO experience in this. This isn't something you want to get someone more experienced in to do?"

He gave me a smile then. "Not at all. Look, India's got a long way to go before we're able to even keep a real audience. I'm not sure I could even convince anyone to come over here and book a company right now, even if I did think they had better ideas than you. But they aren't the ones I want. I want your creativity. I think you've got what it takes. But I can understand your concerns. So why don't you take a look at this," he says as he hands me a manila folder. "Take a look at what I want DSPW to be. If you think you can handle it, I'm hoping to run our first show in January. Give me a call."

We shook hands, and I just kind of wandered in a stupor for a while. From there...well, I guess it's pretty obvious I ended up agreeing to his offer. Pulled in the guys who'd already graduated MWA, though we don't technically have any sort of formal relationship in place, that's likely to be a good source of people for us for a while. With Kashmir's approval, reached out to a couple guys from the US who were unemployed and brought them in. Some veteran types who could help all us new guys in the ring. And just around the corner, at long last, is DSPW Genesis. Our first show. I'm excited. I'm nervous. I think I might throw up before the show starts. But this...this is the start of my story. I'm going to make the best of it.

So, this is going to be a Road to Glory diary, sort of. I might end up leaving DSPW at some point, but I'm sticking with it for a minimum of three years, assuming it survives. India is active, obviously. I have no idea how it'll develop.

The avatar is "Bollywood" Baljit. The image and name come from the default Avatar, but he was built with the RTG method. He's a Brawler, and I don't remember what stats he ended up with to begin with, but the Star Quality is a 74. I don't expect I'll keep track of achievements or the mystery boxes, but I'm sticking to the "I won't be an owner" rule. Starting talents are Negotiation 2, Motivation 4, Creativity 9, Leadership 7, Diplomacy 3, and Silver Tongue 5.

I kept DSPW as it was in the editor, except I reduced the popularity to 0 (after the game started -- I forgot to do it in the editor), and the money to $1,000. That means our style is "Family Friendly Pro Wrestling". We're currently using a strictly enforced Face/Heel divide, but I may change that at some point.

Which man's experience will prove the deciding factor here in DSPW?</div></p>

Reed was really off his game here tonight, but hey, these two showcased some good chemistry. Also, the audience didn't like a match this long. So, that's something to keep in mind. I wanted something different for this match, so Reed was in control for pretty much all of the match. He was on the offense for minute after minute, and hit numerous near falls, but Mr. India Kashmir Singh kept kicking out. It was only during the last minute that Singh really came alive, and finally managed to counter one move just long enough to pin Reed's shoulders to the mat.</p></div></td></tr><tr><td><div style="font-weight:bold" align="left">Rating: 18</div></td><td align="center"><b>Kashmir Singh wins by Pinfall</b></td><td><div style="font-size:8pt" align="right">Referee:Glen Lee<br/>Road Agent:Buddy Garner<br/>Match Time:17:28</div></td></tr></table>

Oh gods, it's over. Singh gave me a back slap on his way out of the building, but I'm still a bit thrown off by how awful some of this wrestling was. I encouraged some of the losers from the night, keep morale up. Don't know how that'll go over. Guess that's what happens when everyone's basically brand spanking new. And when I checked the books the next day, we'd lost everything we'd started with, and another grand besides. So...too many people in this show. Probably travel costs. I think the actual wages were reasonable. But, one show in the can. Time to look forward to next month.
