Starting my own company in the Cverse

Recommended Posts

I am likely going to pull the trigger and pick this up since it seems like a vast improvement from 2016, my question is who should I recruit first to be my companies superstars? I like to start my own federations in wrestling games rather than take over an established one. I will be playing on either easy or medium and my fed will be like the WCW but a bit more "modern". Who are some good wrestlers to sign that would be a good foundation to build on?

<p>Tri State is full of usable workers. You'll just have to get in there and see who is around, what the level of your company is, etc. It hard to point you in the direction of specific workers until we know what your company is and what it aims to do.</p><p> </p><p>

I do what you do in this game. I like to create my own company and influence the world that way and ease into things, once i get the hang of it i make bigger signings as they become available so I can make the most use of them. Plus I like creating my own characters and things, makes it feel more interesting to me. You can easily add your own creations into the established fictional C-Verse in this game. If you ever feel like you screwed with the database too much you can always download the fresh database where you download the patches from on the tech support forum and start over <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

To answer you, one generally available name I can point you in the direction of is <strong>Fro Sure</strong>. He starts out in South West but is gettable once you get big enough. He's perfect if you're starting at medium looking to get a TV product together quickly. He is adaptable to many styles, reasonably tough, can talk, and has one of the better raw star quality ratings of the workers available to you. That means if you push him well you WILL get some popularity on him pretty quickly. Which would take some of the guesswork away for a new player and give you a reliable young star to bank on. If you have the luxury of being able to put him in developmental he has become an absolute STUD for me but even in my saves when I dont give him that time to develop he's already pretty good in January 2020. Whether I'm running a kid friendly cartoon wrestling show or the nastiest foulest hardcore promotion you can think of, Fro Sure is always on my roster somewhere. He's a favorite of mine and has generally yielded excellent results for the investment.</p>

I do exactly the same thing. I try to make a spiritual successor to WCW in the Great Lakes region. It's silly but my first hire is always Phil Vibert. I use him as an authority figure and in my mind he acts as Bischoff when he was first brought to WWF. He's very affordable, unsigned, and decent for angles. Storyline he has the whole DAVE legacy and I'll occasionally sign an ex-DAVE guy for angles with him and build feuds around him.

Thanks, yeah I was going to put myself in (yes I know lol) and I was to be an authority figure type, starting out at a face then going heel. Just need a few wrestlers to build off of. How should the first title match be handled and who should compete for it? I kind of just bumbled around in 2016, in this I would like to RP my own federation if i can.

TEW 2020 actually has a neat tournament planner so I use that for my first belt. I start out with my territorial belt (Great Lakes Championship) as my inaugural belt and have the final match on my PPV. The next month revolves around getting the tag team titles up in the same manner. Third month I start a TV title.

It's just my personal taste but I feel that "world" titles are overused so to make it a bigger deal I join COTT and send my avatar to win the belt and defend it on COTT events. For me the world title works well because I don't want to put my avatar as a main eventer on my TV but rather as an occasional wrestler, which fits being COTT World Champion well.

PPV...That brings me to my next question, I will be playing on "medium" since I like a bit of resistance. How should my show schedule? Should I hold weekly shows and monthy PPVs?

My advice would be one weekly show and monthly events yes. If you have the game generate a schedule for you it'll set up something like this you just would tweak it to your liking.

One show is easy to run and manage and you can always expand when your roster does. I like one show a week when I'm starting out because it gives me time to make adjustments between shows which I do a lot more early on in my save than I do once things have been going for a year or so. Gives you time to learn and you'll grow at a steady [pace at medium with one show a week once you're on TV and can field a decent product. I'd advise starting with a low company pop at medium. Like low to mid 60s. Gives you a little buffer to fail but youre just more likely to have good shows for your company if you start as small as possible. I found it great fun to start in the mid 60s. I was able to take my time and build my roster the way I liked it and just have fun with my guys. So the pressure was off a bit, my guys were able to develop. I wasn't stressing about the young talent I couldn't get into those really high levels of pop but my good workers were still able to put on solid matches and I grew slow but steadily. Then once the time was right I was able to bolster up with some bigger signings and set things in motion to put on high quality shows and grow at a more solid pace.

Thanks for the tip, who else would be good to "carry" the show while I build up my younger talent?

Ernest Youngman

Aldous Blackfrier

Cali Slick

Davis Wayne Newton

Fro Sure

Hugh de Aske

Logan Wolfsbane

Nelson Callum

Tennessee William

Samael the Accuser

Honestly unless you start with a ton of pop I think getting career midcard guys who are good backstage or jobbers in the major promotions at first. Build them up to be your midcard/jobbers of the future and keep those great workers off of USPW/SWF/TCW's radar.

I would also recommend Cobra as a worker. only because I am a huge Jake the Snake fan and love trying to hear the promos in my head.

I have a BCG game that is taking up my time now, but oncethat slows down some I plan to do my Midwest-based 15 pop promotion running Silver Age as a product. The first month and a half of that was super fun to book.

Since medium requires at least 59 popularity in your home region, I’d say you need a couple of guys on your starting roster who are at or above that or else you’ll risk lacking star power. Some of the names mentioned are incredibly talented but will still take a few shows to build to that level of popularity.

I don’t have the game with me rn, but grabbing a couple of the older SWF/TCW/USPW guys that are available would be strongly recommended. Chris Caulfield and Texas Pete are two guys who start with a decent amount of popularity, thought both come with issues of decline/personal issues. It’s probably worth grabbing someone like Ricky Dale Johnson for your promos with the less over guys. He’ll give you good angle ratings and pass on little bits of popularity hopefully.

If you think about AEW which is the real life version of a new promotion starting at medium, while they have copious amounts of young talent, they still really benefitted from the popularity of Jericho. In a year, jericho could go away for a few months and I doubt they’d notice at all, but at the start he was and is very important.

Same thing goes here, really.

I absolutely agree that you need those guys at that point. My company is at 15. If I have Cobra, Bradford Peverell, Tavon Bradford Jr. and Conner Threepwood in my main event nobody will care. And they are good enough workers so that if they can get up to a pop of around 65 to 70 they will be fine in a 65/35 perf/pop fed if need be to get to 59.

I figure right around 45 you sign your future stars (Youngman, Fro Sure, etc.) to $200 per show exclusive writtens (should be good for a 2 yr contract) as well as your major players that have developed getting there. If you use the ensuing 2 years well things should be off and running.
