Pro Wrestling League - Wrestling in a Competitive League

Recommended Posts

Having missed TEW2016, I have bought TEW2020 and this is going to be my dynasty for the new game.

On TEW2013, I have a long running dynasty that has been going for around 11 game years. That dynasty is detailed here http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=534135 and is still running in March 2012.

This is a loose continuation from that game.

Professional wrestling has always been about World Championships. However, there are countless world champions. WWE even has more than one. So who is the true world champion? Nobody can answer that.

Potter ran Potter Sport Wrestling for over 11 years. He grew the company from nothing to the number two company in the world, behind only the WWE. That was until July 2012 when Disney opened their own wrestling company*. Practically overnight, PSW lost the majority of it's top wrestlers as only a few of the guys were on written deals and PSW quickly fell down the wayside. Having been competing against one falling giant with money to burn with great success, this changed when a second giant with money to burn started churning up the talent.

Potter was smart. He kept some of his money made from PSW to one side and eight years later with Disney no longer around and Potter creates a new company, Pro Wrestling League. PWL is going to be different. Pro Wrestling League is going to focus on the competition aspect of wrestling, bringing in a league format similar to that seen in team sports around the world. There will be league champions, promotion and relegation as Potter seeks to find a new market in pro wrestling. How will this new take on pro wrestling be received by the fans?

*This hasn't actually happened in my TEW2013 game (yet?). My game is in May 2012 and the database has Disney set to open in July 2012.

<p>Kijar - I just tried to look, but the first part of the PSW dynasty on the TEW13 sub forum has been lost in the internet abyss. The second part in the TEW16 sub forum started in May 2016. An estimate therefore is 6-7 years. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Michgcs - You have to wait another 6 days fella. Expect some known names, people of all nationality, gender and race... and some people I'd never heard of until I started this save. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

Before the roster reveal, a few details and points I want to make...

I have become aware of a widespread scandal that is engulfing wrestling. I don't know a lot in the way of detail and started this game before I became aware of it. As a result, I will have signed some wrestlers that rightly or wrongly are involved in the scandal.

I always play my games as if they are their own world. This applies to TEW where I sign and use wrestlers based on their merits in the game. I am using the Real World Chronicles June 2020 database, so the database is pre scandal. If any given wrestler doing well causes you offence, anger, disgust or anything else then I apologise but in this game world they are not known to have (alledged to have) done anything wrong.

The company is going to run as thus. Initially there is going to be two divisions for males (twenty in each) and females (ten in each). The top league is going to be initially called the Elite League and the lower league is going to be initially called the Second League. I am awaiting on a prize choice from Cracker Jack from my TEW2013 game to name the leagues.

Seasons are going to run from six months - January to June and July to December - with the exception of the first season which will run from June to December with June being the start of the game.

At the end of each season the leader of the Elite League will be the league champion. The bottom three male and two female wrestlers will be relegated. In the Second League the top three male and two female wrestlers will be promoted and the bottom three male and two females will be relegated. They will be replaced by newly signed wrestlers.

If a wrestler leaves the company, then they will be replaced by a newly signed wrestler at the start of the following season at a suitable level.

If the company grows, then there is scope to increase the number of wrestlers in each division (and the number of promotion and relegation spots) and the number of divisions.

There will be no traditional championships to start with, but one will come soon.

I hope that is clear. Ask any questions if you want anything to be made clearer. :)

Excited to see this take off Nobby! I'll be honest - this roster looks like a bit of an island of misfit toys, with a few problematic folks thrown in here and there. But that's a good thing! Starting in 01 gave you chance to develop wrestlers that you probably knew would turn out ok, and now the future is a bit more murky. I'm interested to see where it all ends up!

I'll brainstorm to try to cook up a name for the divisions soon.

Yes, this will be very interesting. Out of the 40 male wrestlers I've signed I've only heard of 26 of them and out of the 20 females I've only heard of 11 of them. That's a lot of unknowns (to me) that I'm working with!

I've also made my first major cock up. I though I had sign the Gold League (initially called the Elite League) to a TV deal... only to find out I'd signed an events deal with Maw TV. I then looked to sign a B show TV deal for the Silver League (was Second). I did that correctly, but when I later realised my error I couldn't then sign a second TV deal for the Gold League.

So... things will be a little disjointed to start with. Weekly TV will be a B show and weekly Gold League will have to be held as events. This means there will be no special monthly show/pay per view. The deals in place last for 3 months, so it won't be for too long.

Lesson learned. :)
