Introducción

It feels great to be back writing again, I hope everyone is safe and well! My original plan was to follow on from my two TEW 2016 dynasty diaries "World Wonder Ring STARD✪M - Long Term" & "NJPW 2019 - Long Term", however, I have decided to start fresh for 2020.

 

I have downloaded the July 2020 Real World Mod by Landxx and as you can see from the title I'll be playing as Mexican promotion Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide. I will be playing the part of real life Director Dorian Roldán (As Owner). This will be a real world simulation with fantasy booking, sticking to the product AAA are assigned to in-game, Lucha Libre Entertainment. This diary takes place post COVID-19 pandemic, with fans returning to the arenas and workers crossing boarders.

 

Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide

Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide is a Mexican Lucha Libre (professional wrestling) promotion based in Mexico City, Mexico. Commonly referred to as simply AAA (pronounced "triple A"; an abbreviation of its original name Asistencia Asesoría y Administración, Spanish for "Assistance, Assessment, and Administration"), AAA was founded on May 15, 1992, when Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) booker Antonio Peña broke away from the company in favor of having more creative freedom and establishing his own group along with Konnan and much of the young and exciting talent from CMLL. This left CMLL with a middle-aged roster and a seemingly bleak future. AAA also picked up talent from other markets, as they found and signed Tijuana natives Rey Mysterio, Jr. and Psicosis. The promotion flourished with top talent like El Hijo del Santo, Octagón, Blue Panther, the Casas brothers (Negro Casas and Heavy Metal) and possessed top draws in Los Gringos Locos, Cien Caras, Konnan, and Perro Aguayo. The rising popularity of AAA soon caused rival Universal Wrestling Association to go out of business, with Peña quickly signing up UWA top draws including El Canek, Dos Caras and Los Villanos.

 

In addition to the conventional "squared circle", the promotion occasionally uses a hexagonal wrestling ring and has a reputation for its outlandish gimmicks and characters as well as having developed a more extreme match style in recent years. AAA has previously worked together with North American promotions such as the World Wrestling Federation and World Championship Wrestling. Currently AAA has working relationships with the Mexican International Wrestling Revolution Group and Lucha Libre Elite promotions and North American promotions; All Elite Wrestling, Impact Wrestling and Major League Wrestling. AAA has held a number of pay-per-views over the years and has promoted shows not just in Mexico but in the United States and Japan as well.

 

Rankings & Popularity

Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide are currently ranked as the 8th largest promotion in the world, with a "Medium" fanbase. The largest promotion in Mexico is Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), who are ranked 7th in the world and also have a "Medium" ranked fanbase. Other rival Mexican promotions include International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG), who are ranked as the 3rd (19th overall) most popular Mexican promotion by fanbase (Small) and The Crash, who are ranked as the 4th (23rd overall) most popular Mexican promotion by fanbase (Small).

 

 

TV & Events

AAA currently run a weekly TV Show called AAA: Lucha Libre Worldwide, which runs for 2 hours every Thursday evening. AAA's biggest event of the year is called Triplemanía (similar to WWE's Wrestlemania) and it normally takes place in August. Other highly regarded events are the Rey de Reyes (similar to WWE's King of the Ring), winner receives a sword and may get a shot at the AAA Mega Championship. Héroes Inmortales (Copa Antonio Peña) is a tournament named in memory of AAA founder Antonio Peña. Verano de Escándalo is AAA's summer show (similar to WWE's SummerSlam). Guerra de Titanes is AAA's end-of-year show.

 

 

Broadcast Team

Our current broadcast team consists of Announcer/Colour Commentator Jesus Zuñiga (74/58 rating), Colour Commentator Andres Maroñas (76 rating) and Announcer/Colour Commentator Hugo Savinovich (78/68 rating).

 

 

Referees

Our current match officials consist of Piero, Hijo del Tirantes and Copetes Salaza.

 

 

Factions

AAA are known for their use of factions (stables/units), with a good proportion of the roster belonging to one. Here is a list of AAA's factions:

 

1. La Facción Ingobernable:

La Facción Ingobernable are an antagonistic rudo faction. Lead by Rush Toro Blanco, followed by La Bestia Del Ring, LA Park & Konnan.

 

2. Los Mercernarios:

Los Mercernarios are a rudo faction founded by La Máscara. Lead by Texano Jr., followed by La Hiedra, Rey Escorpión & Taurus.

 

3. Poder del Norte:

Poder del Norte are a rudo faction. Members include; Carta Brava Jr., Mocho Cota Jr. & Tito Santana.

 

4. Los Jinetes del Aire:

Los Jinetes del Aire are a tecnico faction. Members include; El Hijo del Vikingo, Laredo Kid, Myzteziz Jr. & Octagon Jr.

 

5. Los OGTs:

Los OGT's are a rudo faction. Members include; Averno, Chessman & Super Fly.

Following the recent success of the Lucha Fighter series, Dorian Roldán has confirmed that it will be returning in 2021, with the 2020 winners set to receive upcoming championship opportunities. The Men's Lucha Fighter series winner' Pentagon Jr. will receive a shot at Kenny Omega's AAA Mega Championship, while the Women's Lucha Fighter series winner' Lady Shani will receive a shot at Taya Valkyrie's AAA Reina de Reinas Championship.</p><p> </p><p>

Dorian Roldán

 

Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide CEO' Dorian Roldán issued a somewhat surprising statement on Wednesday, announcing that the AAA World Mini-Estrella Championship has been vacated and retired, thus ending the Mini-Estrellas division, a division which dates back to January 8th, 1993. The AAA World Mini-Estrella Championship was created in 2008, with Mini Charly Manson becoming the inaugural champion after winning a 12-man tournament that culminated at Verano de Escándalo 2008. Dinastía was the final and longest reigning champion, with a combined 2 x title reign of 2,081 days.

El Texano Jr. & Rey Escorpión defeated Averno & Chessman in 18 minutes via pinfall when El Texano Jr. pinned Averno following a Tornado Texas (Fireman's Carry Backbreaker).

 

Following their defeat, Los Hell Brothers crossed paths with Pagano on the ramp as he made his way to the ring for the main event. Chessman shoved Pagano to the ground, where he and Averno continued the beat down.

Dr. Wagner Jr. defeated a pre-weakened Pagano in 20 minutes via pinfall after a Wagner Driver (Michinoku Driver II). Pagano fought bravely and did well to last as long as he did considering he was attacked by Los Hell Brothers just moments before the start of the match.

Contract Update

 

Rey Mysterio

 

Rey Mysterio appears to have finally signed a new WWE contract, ending a saga that began several months ago, when it was revealed the lucha legend had been working without a deal following his old one's expiration.

 

Dave Meltzer writes in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Mysterio is believed to have inked a new three-year contract with the world's biggest promotion. This is no great surprise. All signs have been pointed towards Rey re-signing since the original story broke, with Meltzer and other sources treating it as a formality. Now 45, Mysterio's latest WWE run began in September 2018, having previously appeared in that year's Royal Rumble and Greatest Royal Rumble. His son's burgeoning career is likely a huge part of him sticking around.
