1995: Monday Night Wars & 1996: Hostile Takeover, Double Release!

Recommended Posts

Just had a test run with the 1995 data, very interesting! Looks like a lot of research has been put into this - and the amount of work put into the graphics is awesome!

All the match ratings are excessively high - this is probably due to the way you do the stats - eg. every person including referees having a minimum of 30 stats for things - I've expressed my concern with this before and you explained your logic so I won't dwell too much!

The buy rates are insanely high - for example WCW got 3million buy-rates for Hogwild. This would make it a record breaking PPV in wrestling history - compare this to the 1.9million they get in TV viewers shows how obscene the number is. This can be changed by playing with the broadcast sizes and the 'eras'.

May want to have a relook at the WWF too - getting very low TV ratings. eg. 700k for Raw and 60k for Superstars.

Some of the Broadcasters may need rejigging - ECW and NJPW easily got on some big TV deals in places such as the UK & Australia - can be changed by playing with broadcaster requirements.

Some examples: S4C, RTL and BBC are accepting TV deals when in reality they wouldn't really air wrestling. Some of the local networks in the USA are accepting deals from Japanese companies giving them a quick and easy gateaway into USA

This is not the result I am getting? For example in my current save on a 2020 real world mod, Im currently getting a PPV buyrate of 21 million, TEW is highly inflated compared to real life and has nothing to do with the mods.

As for ECW getting big TV deals in the UK etc, that is not possible, they start with 4 popularity and need at least 30 popularity in 4 regions to get a tiny deal, 35 in 4 regions to get a small deal, 53 in 2 regions to get medium, 53 in 6 regions to get big, 65 in 4 regions to get very big. It's just not possible.

ECW got on The Box, NJPW got on S4C - these two at top of my head. Every Foreign promotion gets on all the syndication US channels instantly.

I think Sunshine Network is airing every promotion but WCW & WWF.

As far inflated match ratings - the first WWF ppv had 4 matches with 90 plus:

Undertaker vs Bret Hart (100) , Steve Austin vs HBK vs Mysterio (99), Yokozona vs Mankind (95), Owen Hart & British Buldog vs Ahmed & Bam Bam (93) - for good measure Undertaker and Goldust did a 97 on the first Raw

as for WCW, their first PPV had 4 90 plus matches - Giant vs Ultimate Warrior vs Nash vs Anderson - 96, Ric Flair vs Luger - 92, Hogan & Hall vs Guerrero & Savage - 91, Sting vs Windham - 92.

Their nitro shows getting regular 90 plus match ratings - Konan vs Nash, Giant vs Warrior, Hall vs Guerrero

AJPW shows always getting 3 plus matches above 85

In regards to the realistic tv ratings/ppv ratings - I think saying TEW is highly inflated is a defeatist attitude. I've seen many mods with realistic tv ratings and buy rates. Its quite easy to work out - a bit of trial and error and playing around will solve it.. In some instances some companies are getting 10x buy rates than tv viewers???

I just can't replicate these results

I wouldn't worry your mods pretty good, the only problem I have seen is the experience needing fixing rookies like 911 and Paul Wright have 60 and 80 whereas Billy Kidman has 3 years but only 12 experience though Triple H has 72

Cheers mate, I'll get them all fixed for the next update, the next update is pretty soon

RE: 1995, going to run a few tests and release an update later today. Lots of changes and fixes made.

The main things I did yesterday and today was to limit the US Syndication TV to American companies only and all of the local cable channels only offer to companies based in that area.

Experience has been updated for every worker, to keep things consistent I used a formula of 7 experience points per active year as a wrestler.
