TCW presents Total Wrestling

Tuesday, Week Three, March 2020 - LIVE from Gorski Ballroom (Salt Lake City, UT)

Announce Team: Jason Azaria, Kyle Rhodes, and Jasmine Saunders

Attendance: 3,658 - TV Rating: 3.53 on ACE; 0.40 on IC-TV

Show Rating: 84

Q6XX2us.jpg

Ricky Dale Johnson kicks off the show, reminding us all of the Battleground match he first announced on Saturday Night Showcase. About the time he reminds us that if The Syndicate wins, Wolf Hawkins gets to keep his match at Total Mayhem for the TCW World Championship. Not long after he says this, The Alpha Wolf himself is out to talk about it.

aLUKJa4.jpg

"So, this is it, huh? This is your grand plot?" Wolf rants. "One last, desperate attempt to take from me what is rightfully mine! Take what I earned at King of Kings! You know what? You deserve what happened to you last week, you washed up old hick! The only difference between you now and during your career is that now the hard, brown stuff isn't the only thing you're drunk on!"

"Clever, Wolf," RDJ chuckles. "You sayin' I'm drunk on power?"

"That's exactly what I'm saying, Committee Cowboy," Wolf says mockingly. "In fact, you're too drunk on your own ego to realize what's going on here..."

"What are you talkin' about, Wolf?" Johnson asks, little patience left for Wolf's war of words and mind games.

rKWGkKG.jpg

Just then, Jay Chord pops up from behind Ricky Dale Johnson and starts waving for him to turn around.

"You've been set up," Wolf smirks. It takes a moment, but a look of dread finally washes over RDJ's face as he realizes what is going on. He turns fast, fists up and ready for a fight, but Chord has been anticipating him. A swift kick to the gut, the Chord grabs him and nails him with a Super DDT! Chord quickly pulls the bandages away from Johnson’s head and starts punching the stitched wound until it reopens!

"This is absolutely sickening!! And now Jay Chord is putting the boots to the Committee Cowboy!" Azaria proclaims on commentary as, much like last week, the ring begins to fill with referees and road agents. Wolf Hawkins rolls out of the ring laughing and heads to the back while Chord is pulled off of RDJ and forced into a corner.

"I can't imagine what the Committee will have to say about this!" Rhodes exclaims as the cameras settle on the announce team at their desk.

SEGMENT RATING: 94

"Ladies and gentlemen, we're going to let them clear this up in the ring, but we're told something else Ricky Dale Johnson planned to address in the ring as we kicked off the show tonight are the teams for the Battleground match itself," Azaria explains.

"We understand that Wolf Hawkins, Doc Hammond, and The Elite will step into the ring for The Syndicate," Saunders confirms.

"Yes, but we still don't know who will be Team Andrews," Rhodes adds. "We heard him make a promise to Freddy Huggins on Saturday that if Huggins will join his team and help them succeed, he'll give Huggins a World title match next month."

"We'll be right back with tag team action, don't you dare go anywhere!" Azaria exclaims.

BENNY BENSON & FLYING JIMMY FOXX

VERSUS

THE SUPREMACY

(JEREMIE COURTNEY & AUSTIN SMOOTH)

They have to cheat to do it this time, but The Supremacy walk away with another victory.

WINNERS: The Supremacy (6:57)

MATCH RATING: 55

<hr>

zDqstiJ.jpg59MVj5H.jpg

"THE BUZZSAW"

FRANKIE PEREZ

VERSUS

SHOCKING MATT HOCKING

A competitive TV match that ends with a Buzzsaw Kick and a pinfall victory for Frankie Perez.

WINNER: Frankie Perez (7:50)

MATCH RATING: 61

Following the match, Frankie Perez leaves after a brief celebration but Matt Hocking is left in the ring looking mighty upset. He starts to huff and turn red, kicking the turnbuckles and yelling at the crowd, throwing a temper tantrum over his loss. It only lasts a moment before the music of Bart Biggins kicks in, and he comes out to taunt Hocking.

"What's the matter, Matt?" Biggins laughs. "Can't take it when things don't go your way? Can't win without cheating? I'll tell you what... let's settle this at Battleground, how about it?"

"Fine!!" Hocking screams, shaking the ring ropes and flipping his hair back-and-forth like a wildman. "Battleground!! Let's do it!! Battleground!!!" he screeches.

SEGMENT RATING: 44

Jay Chord is backstage in an undisclosed location with an accosted cameraman.

"You think you can stop me from doing what I want?" Chord scoffs. "Huh, Ricky Dale Johnson? Mr. Committee Cowboy? You think I give a damn what you think of me? What you have to say? I'm royalty around this place! Throw your fines at me, I don't care! Ricky Dale Johnson learned tonight, just like Greg Gauge and I are gonna teach Sammy Bach and Troy Tornado later tonight... you do not mess with royalty, you do not mess... with my destiny!"

With that, Chord pushes the cameraman down and walks away.

SEGMENT RATING: 72

"THE HITMAN"

ERNEST YOUNGMAN

VERSUS

REMMY SKYE

The Hitman squashes the local talent and ends it with The Hit in just under seven minutes.

WINNER: Ernest Youngman (6:56)

MATCH RATING: 53

<hr>

BFDink1.jpg

Floyd Goldworthy is backstage with The American Cobras to cut a promo on The Love Machines.

"The Cobras are the hottest team on the scene, and these jokers wanna show up acting like the hot new act in town," Goldworthy rants. "UNH-UH!! Ain't gonna happen while Storm Spillane and Marvel Malloy are in TCW. We're gonna run through The Mighty, and come next week, we're gonna be responsible for a break-up... the break-up of The Love Machines!"

THE AMERICAN COBRAS

(STORM SPILLANE & MARVEL MALLOY)

W/ FLOYD GOLDWORTHY

VERSUS

THE MIGHTY

(MIGHTY MO & TANA THE MIGHTY)

This match was speed versus power, with the Cobras making use of lighting fast heel tag team tactics to control the much larger Mighty for a large portion of the match. In the end, though, none of the quickness matters as Mighty Mo ends it with a Plunging Spinebuster.

WINNERS: The Mighty (9:36)

MATCH RATING: 71

24gegRW.jpgXG7AGA6.jpg

Before the ring announcer can even proclaim The Mighty as the winning team, The Behemoths hit the ring for yet another assault. Eddie Peak is out to direct traffic as Killer Shark and Titan put a hurting on the fan favorite powerhouses.

In the back, Ricky Dale Johnson is still being tended to by medics when Shawn Doakes comes in with a cameraman to check on him. His forehead is heavily bandaged though a bit of blood has soaked through, and a physician is checking RDJ’s pupils.

“Ricky, if we could get a word on how you’re do--” Doakes begins, but RDJ promptly shoves the physician out of the way and sits up.

“Gimme that!” he shouts as he snatches the microphone. “Jay Chord, you done made the biggest mistake of your life, boy! I might be retired, and stipulations might force me to stay that way… but, mark my words, one way or ‘nother, Jay Chord… one way or ‘nother, your ass is mine!”

“Ricky, please, calm down,” the physician pleads, trying to get the Committee Cowboy to lay back again but RDJ is fired up.

“BAH!” he scoffs, waving him off. “Calm down, nothin’! I’m madder ‘n a wet hen right now! Jay Chord, I don’t care about no fines, I don’t care about any punishment the Committee might hand down… your ass is mine, you hear me, Jay Chord! YOUR ASS IS MINE!!”

SEGMENT RATING: 87

<hr>

T-BONE BRIGHT

VERSUS

RODERICK REMUS

This match was almost all T-Bone except for a stretch in the middle where Roderick cheated to gain the upperhand and got some heat for a while before allowing Bright to make a big comeback and finish it with a Powerslam.

WINNER: T-Bone Bright (7:58)

MATCH RATING: 64

<hr>

IAdc0El.jpg

Aaron Andrews is backstage for a promo, asking Freddy Huggins once again to join Team Andrews for Battleground before addressing his match with Chris Flynn tonight.

“Chris Flynn, The Jock of The Syndicate… the big muscleman,” Andrews says mockingly before smirking. “The weak link? The one NOT in the Battleground match… you think I’m worried about you? Hardly. You think I’m worried Freddy hasn’t answered me yet because he isn’t here tonight? Maybe. But if you think I’m coming without backup tonight, you’re sadly mistaken. I’ll see you in the ring. Ace, out.”

JAY CHORD & GREG GAUGE

VERSUS

SAMMY BACH & TROY TORNADO

A competitive and exciting match is ruined when Joshua Taylor interferes on behalf on his recent ally Greg Gauge. The interference allows Jay Chord to hit Troy Tornado with a Cradle Piledriver for the win.

WINNERS: Jay Chord & Greg Gauge (13:13)

MATCH RATING: 84

<hr>

4S7WrE0.jpgQ6eqZdG.jpg

Freddy Huggins and his sister, Lara Catherin Huggins, aren’t here tonight but they’re cutting a promo from backstage at a rock concert, the sound of a band’s music faintly thumping can be heard in the background as he talks over all of the noise.

“Aaron Andrews, I’ll make this short and sweet,” Huggins says. “I had to take a quick minute out of my busy party schedule to tell you that I… am… in, my friend! I get to beat up on The Syndicate AND I get a World title match out of the deal? I’m all in, Ace!”

SEGMENT RATING: 82

<hr>

IAdc0El.jpge0ZRHU9.jpg

AARON ANDREWS

VERSUS

CHRIS FLYNN

A simple and surprisingly interference-free non-title match between the TCW World Champion and the muscle of The Syndicate. An Ace Crusher puts him away in twelve minutes for a relatively short TV main event.

WINNER: Aaron Andrews (12:04)

MATCH RATING: 80

Andrews doesn’t have long to celebrate before he’s blindsided by Doc Hammond! It isn’t long before the rest of The Syndicate is in the ring as well, putting the boots to The Ace 5-on-1. The beating doesn’t last long before the lights in the arena go out!

“What’s going on here?!” Kyle Rhodes asks as a low hum starts to sound off in the darkness, camera flashes going off all over the arena.

“THE ACE SAID HE HAD BACKUP!” Jason Azaria screams.

“Yeah, but who’s it gonna be?!” Jasmine Saunders asks.

“I have a feeling we’re about to find out!” Rhodes answers

.

.

The low hum starts to get louder.

.

.

After a moment, the hum stops…

.

.

Because of the sound of gunshots ringing out!

.

.

Dogs begin to bark, weaponry going off.

.

.

The fans pop!

“OH MY!” Azaria screams

vV4FMuy.jpgJXj4qY7.jpg

“The Tag Team Champions are here!” Rhodes exclaims.

One Man Army and Human Arsenal rush the ring to make the save, clearing house on The Syndicate, first sending Flynn over the top rope together before splitting off. Arsenal takes out Nate Johnson with a German suplex, the One Man Army spearing Eddie Chandler. Doc Hammond and Wolf Hawkins swarm Human Arsenal but One Man Army soon evens the odds, and not long after Hammond is sent out of the ring. Hawkins finds himself all alone with Dogs of War, and he gets a Bulldog Missile to end the show.

TCW Saturday Night Showcase

Saturday, Week 2, March 2020 - ‘LIVE’ from Gorski Ballroom (Salt Lake City, UT)

Show Rating: 69

4S7WrE0.jpgQ6eqZdG.jpg

Freddy Huggins is out to start the show, along with his sister Laura Catherine Huggins... their schtick of antagonizing the crowd and ripping up anti-Freddy signs has been replaced by pointing out pro-Freddy signs and Laura showing off her good looks with a lucky fan. They get into the ring, but before saying anything, Freddy points to the entrance and the lights go out. The crowd rumbles in anticipation before the now-familiar barking dogs and mortar explosions go off to signal the arrival of Dogs of War.

vV4FMuy.jpgJXj4qY7.jpg

The TCW Tag Team Champions make their way to the ring, and the trio cut a promo concerning tonight’s main event and the Battleground match as a whole.

“Wolf Hawkins and his Syndicate better run for cover,” Human Arsenal barks. “Because when the bombs start dropping, there won’t be a foxhole deep enough to save them!”

“We’re locked and loaded, and we’ve got Bulldog Missiles at the ready for every last one of those Syndicate punks!” One Man Army adds.

“Yeah, I’m not into all that war stuff,” Huggins tells them. “But I don’t need to be to tell The Syndicate, and especially Wolf Hawkins, that I’m gonna kick his ass all around the cage next Sunday!”

Ricky Dale Johnson kicks off the show once again, but he’s not about business this week… this time it’s personal. His forehead is still bandaged, visible beneath his cowboy hat as he enters the ring and requests a microphone.</p><p> </p><p>

“Now, I’m s’posed to be out here to tell you people that tonight’s show is a Battleground preview where you’ll be seein’ three matches between the men that make up our two teams,” he begins. “But I done said all I’m gonna say ‘bout that tonight… JAY CHORD! You git your sorry ass out here right now!” he screams, throwing his cowboy hat down in the center of the ring so we can see just how heavily bandaged his head is this week.</p><p> </p><p>

“You wanted to start somethin’ boy, you got it started! Where you at?!” RDJ shouts into the microphone, pacing around his hat in the ring and constantly looking towards the entrance ramp. “Alright, you little brat, you listen an’ you listen good! No one, I mean, <em>NO ONE</em> gets away with what you done to me without consequence! You think you were mad when I didn’t give you a match with Sammy Bach last month? Oh-ho boy!! It’s just the start, Jay boy, you mark my words! I don’t care what I have to do, I don’t care if the Committee has to remove me… I’m gonna git my hands on you, Jay Chord! Now I’m gonna give you one last chance to prove you ain’t yella, and git out here and face me like a man!”</p><p> </p><p>

“I don’t think he’s coming, Azaria,” Rhodes says to break the silence on commentary as the camera lingers on an entryway where no one is coming.</p><p> </p><p>

“Fine, you won’t come to me? I’m comin’ to find you! Oh yeah, and the first match of the night… Aaron Andrews versus Doc Hammond, comin’ up next!” he announce before dropping the mic, grabbing his cowboy hat, and marching towards the back while the announce team send us to commercial.</p><p> </p><p>

</strong><strong><span style="font-size:12px;">DOC HAMMOND</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Aaron Andrews shines for the early part of the match before Doc Hammond uses an eye poke to take control, and then focuses on Andrews legs to both set up his finish and wear him down for Battleground. The end sees <strong>Chris Flynn</strong>, who is at ringside with Hammond for the match, get involved and DDT Andrews on the outside of the ring while Doc has the ref distracted and roll him back inside. Hammond drags the unconscious Andrews to the center of the ring and applies the Texas Cloverleaf, forcing the ref to call for the bell as The Ace is unresponsive.</p><p> </p><p>

“So, tonight, Freddy Huggins is exactly where he belongs,” he grins. “The main event, and, what’s better? I get my chance at Wolf Hawkins, one-on-one! Well… if what just happened out here with Aaron Andrews is any indication, The Syndicate might plan to play their numbers game, but we’re onto that game now and Team Andrews is going to win this night, two-to-one!”</p><p> </p><p>

Eddie Peak is out next for another Sinner’s Sermon, more reserved than normal and preaching about patience.</p><p> </p><p>

“Patience is a virtue, and though we do not aim to be virtuous it is still a valuable lesson to learn,” Peak preaches. “Though we give often into hedonism and instant gratification, there is something to be said for… prolonging the pleasure? Drawing out the inevitable? Playing with your food?” he grins. “Whatever the case may be, there are no friends in war, only allies… and when one makes the right alliances, even The Mighty must kneel to the Sinners.”</p><p> </p><p>

Joshua Taylor makes his entrance to the arena to make his open challenge, taunting recent contenders for losing.</p><p> </p><p>

“I need competition!” he shouts. “I need someone on my level… I need a fight!”</p><p> </p><p>

No sooner than those last words leave his mouth, the music of Dazzling Dave Diamond kicks in and the crowd goes wild!</p><p> </p><p>

“If it’s a fight you’re looking for, look no further!” the Dazzling One asserts before dropping his mic and heading for the ring.</p><p>

</strong><strong><span style="font-size:12px;">DAZZLING DAVE DIAMOND</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

And a fight it is; a wild brawl that goes all over the ringside area, not the usual technical showcase we’re used to seeing from Taylor. These two click from the opening bell, and they put on a helluva show that still ends, as Taylor’s bouts often do, with the Butterfly Lock picking up a submission victory.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><strong>WINNER:</strong> Joshua Taylor (6:29)</p><p>

<span style="font-size:8px;"><strong>MATCH RATING: 78</strong></span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Taylor doesn’t have long to celebrate before the music of Ricky Dale Johnson hits, and the Committee Cowboy makes his way out to the ring for a confrontation.</p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="Q6XX2us.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Q6XX2us.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

“Josh, I’m gonna make this short and sweet,” RDJ tells him, all business as before. “Where’s Jay? I know you two have been palin’ around lately, and I got no beef with you at this point… I just wanna know, where’s Jay?”</p><p> </p><p>

Taylor smirks and shakes his head, acting as if he doesn’t know even as Jay Chord pops out of the crowd and slinks into the ring!</p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="rKWGkKG.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rKWGkKG.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

“There he is, the little snake in the grass!” Azaria shouts as Jay stands up, ready to attack from behind just like he did last week. But before he can, the music of Sammy Bach hits to interrupt! RDJ turns around and sees Chord behind him, ducking a clothesline that connects on Taylor as Bach charges out to even the odds!</p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="1Thm9R4.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/1Thm9R4.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Johnson puts Taylor back down as soon as he gets up with another clothesline, Bach trading blows with Jay Chord as chaos erupts in the ring!</p><p> </p><p>

“Ricky Dale Johnson is getting physical in a TCW ring for the first time in years!” Rhodes cries out.</p><p> </p><p>

“But what is the Committee going to have to say about this?” Azaria questions as RDJ sends Taylor packing, but Jay Chord bails before Johnson can get his hands on him. The heels recover on the outside and hightail it out the arena, the faces standing tall back in the ring as RDJ jaws at Jay.</p><p> </p><p>

</strong><strong><span style="font-size:12px;">THE ELITE</span></strong></p><p><strong>

(EDDIE CHANDLER & NATE JOHNSON)</strong></p><p> </p><p>

The story here was much the same as in the opening contest, Chris Flynn at ringside with The Elite and causing trouble throughout the whole match. Aaron Andrews finally comes out to put a stop to it, but the distraction caused by Andrews & Flynn’s brawling allows Eddie Chandler to hit Human Arsenal with one of the TCW Tag Team titles and pick up the pinfall victory to make The Syndicate 2-0 for the evening.</p><p> </p><p>

Wolf Hawkins is out near the end of the show, and he’s all smiles about The Syndicate winning the night.</p><p> </p><p>

“I mean, let’s be serious, me beating Freddy is a forgone conclusion, but regardless of the outcome, we already win the night,” Wolf says. “We’re already two out of three, and that ain’t bad,” he smirks. “But it’s going to be a, say it with me, kids… a clean sweep tonight!”</p><p>

</strong><strong><span style="font-size:8px;">VERSUS</span></strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><strong><span style="font-size:12px;">FREDDY HUGGINS</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

These two put on one of the better main event matches in recent Total Wrestling history, and for the longest time it looked like it would be clean of interference. Near the end, however, Chris Flynn jumps out of the crowd where he had been hiding in a hoodie in the front row. He hops up onto the apron, but the ref sees him and tries to throw him out; while the two are arguing, Huggins takes advantage of the situation and kicks Hawkins in the groin then nails him with a Huggins Kiss. Laura Catherina Huggins pulls Flynn down off the apron, slapping him and pointing out the pinfall to the ref who slides back in to make the three count!</p><p> </p><p>
