A note from Hollywood:
Hello everybody! You may be asking yourself, "Hollywood, didn't you just start a PWG diary and have a Dragongate diary on the go?" and, well, the answer is yes. Unfortunately, however, my laptop (and thus my game as it was active) crashed and I lost all of my previous save data. So I am starting fresh and we're taking it back... way back to 1970 New York! Bruno Sammartino leads the charge as the World Wide Wrestling Federation aims for world domination. The territory days were such a fun time for wrestling and I can't wait to show you what I have planned.

I hope you enjoy! If you have any issues reading the font installed for this diary, please let me know! Thanks!

All the best,

Hollywood

I am always down for an old WWWF diary.

@Levinux I am not entirely sure, but I do believe someone did a WWWF diary, based in 1970 in TEW16. I could be wrong though.

1. Johnny Rodz vs. Pete Sanchez

2. Mario Milano vs. Eric The Red

I have never heard of Mario and I have heard of Eric the Red so I am just going by who I know.

3. Karl Kovacs vs. WWWF United States Heavyweight Champion Bobo Brazil in a non-title bout

Bobo was one of my father's favorite wrestlers. I am on the fence on this one. With it being a non-title match I could see Bobo losing to set up the rematch. That being said I am going to go with Bobo picking up the win here.

4. WWWF World Champion Bruno Sammartino vs. Willie Farkas in a non-title bout

5. Prof. Toru Tanaka vs. Gene DuBois

6. Gorilla Monsoon & Victor Rivera vs. Killer Kowalski & Waldo Von Erich

This is the first match on the entire card where I have heard of every wrestler. Do you send the fans home happy and let the faces win? Or do the heels do something to pick up the win...

I don't know a lot of wrestlers so going with my gut feeling on this one. Stoked to see a diary this far back in time and one from Hollywood. no less.

WWWF @ Washington National Arena

January 5, 1970; Washington, D.C. (952)

The World Wide Wrestling Federation held their first show of the year in the Washington National Arena with just under 1,000 fans in attendance. Here are some news and notes from the event:

1. Johnny Rodz defeated Pete Sánchez in 10:47 by pinfall with a Falling Headbutt.

2. Eric the Red defeated Mario Milano in 8:03 by pinfall, after poking Milano in the eyes behind the referee's back.

3. WWWF United States Heavyweight Champion Bobo Brazil defeated Karl Kovacs in 11:55 by pinfall with a Coco Butt. Bobo Brazil remains one of the most popular wrestlers in the United States as we kickstart 1970. The veteran held his own and made the fans happy when he defeated the dastardly "Krippler" Karl Kovacs!

4. WWWF World Heavyweight Champion Bruno Sammartino defeated Willie Farkas in 11:59 by pinfall with a Bearhug. In a bout between two good guys, the Canadian Wildman gave it his all against the reigning champion but came up short in this one. Sammartino's rapport with the people is insatiable, the crowd will cheer him no matter the opponent! The Champion proved dominant tonight!

5. Prof. Toru Tanaka defeated Gene DuBois in 6:52 by submission with a Cobra Clutch after throwing the Japanese salt in the eyes of DuBois as the referee was distracted even though he didn't need to. An impressive victory for the Professor capstoned by his penchant for cheating.

6. Killer Kowalski and Waldo Von Erich defeated Gorilla Monsoon and Victor Rivera in 17:47 when Waldo Von Erich pinned Victor Rivera after using a foreign object! The Washington crowd cheered in adoration for the hulking Gorilla and the Puerto Rican superstar as they took on the dastardly bad guys. Not a popular face here in Washington, Waldo Von Erich drew the ire of the crowd when he used an unidentified foreign object to secure a victory over Rivera. That wasn't all as Kowalski took care of Monsoon at ringside, Von Erich looked to add insult to injury by attacking Rivera after the bell nearly leading the crowd into a riot! Tony Marino, Rivera's fellow WWWF International Tag Team Champion, made the save as the crowd went bananas as he threw Waldo out of the ring! It is almost certain that if Waldo Von Erich can find himself a consistent tag team partner, he could try to wrestle those championship titles away from the fan favourites!

Love the look here. It looks like a magazine or newspaper, which I'm sure was by design. Super simple, easy to read and good for you as you can fly through these write ups in no time!

Excited to see what you do going forward with a promotion from 1970!

WWWF @ Boston Garden

January 11, 1970; Boston, MA (9,210)

1. "The Russian Bear" Ivan Koloff defeated Willie Farkas in 11:18 by submission with a Russian Bearhug. Koloff put on a display of his power as he looks to climb back up the ranks for a potential title shot here in Boston. With Tony Angelo by his side, Koloff was interviewed at ringside and promised to hurt the rest of the locker room.

2. "Bulldog" Dick Brower defeated Jack Vansky in 3:42 by submission in a display of pure aggression.

3. George Steele defeated Miguel Feliciano in 6:49 by submission with a Flying Hammerlock. "The Animal" Steele scared the men, women, and children at ringside as he made quick work of Feliciano.

4. WWWF International Tag Team Championship: Tony Marino & Victor Rivera defeated The Sicilians in 17:03 when Victor Rivera submitted Tony Altimore with an Abdominal Stretch to successfully retain the belts. The future does not look bright for The Sicilians as miscommunications led them to lose in this one.

5. Prof. Toru Tanaka defeated Mario Milano in 13:48 by submission with a Cobra Clutch. The Italian gave it his all but came up just short against the more experience Professor.

6. Bruno Sammartino and Gorilla Monsoon defeated Ernie Ladd and Waldo Von Erich in 23:26 via referee's decision when Waldo Von Erich was disqualified while fighting Bruno Sammartino. Waldo Von Erich refused to let go of the Iron Claw as the fans grew irate, forcing the referee to decide the match in favour of the good guys. As Bruno was helped back up while Waldo hurried backstage to avoid being pelted with garbage, the fighting champion was interviewed and promised to put a beating on Waldo when they return to Boston next month!

2. George Steele defeated Jack Vansky in 5:55 by submission with a Flying Hammerlock. Steele made quick work of the veteran and demonstrated his animalistic tendencies in the ring.

3. The Mongols defeated Gene DuBois & Dominic DeNucci in 10:25 when Bepo submitted Gene DuBois with a Russian Bearhug in Bepo and Geto's WWWF debuts. With great tag chemistry, The Mongols will be a force to be reckoned with in all wrestling circuits.

4. Victor Rivera defeated Tony Altimore in 9:50 by submission with an Abdominal Stretch.

5. Gorilla Monsoon defeated Prof. Toru Tanaka in 12:06 by disqualification. The Professor threw his Japanese salt in the eyes of the big man Monsoon but the referee would not allow the blatant cheating. The enraged Gorilla promised revenge on Tanaka for blinding him tonight!

6. Ivan Koloff & Waldo Von Erich defeated Bruno Sammartino & Tony Marino in 14:22 when Waldo Von Erich pinned Tony Marino with a Blitzkrieg Dive. Waldo Von Erich proved once again that he has the number of one-half of the WWWF International Tag Team Champions by pinning Marino tonight in Washington. Despite gaining the victory, the team of Koloff and Von Erich did not work well as Koloff remained too busy attacking the WWWF World Heavyweight Champion Sammartino ahead of their big title match next week for the Washington fans!

January 20, 1970; Washington, D.C. (1,064)

1. Killer Kowalski defeated Danny Little Bear in 5:37 by pinfall with a Diving Knee Drop. Little Bear stood no chance against the much more imposing Kowalski who made quick work in a warm-up match despite all the flack he received from the Washington crowd.

2. Angelo Mosca defeated Pete Sánchez in 4:50 by submission with a Mosco Full Nelson.

3. The Mongols defeated Frank Holtz & Dominic DeNucci in 7:54 when Bepo submitted Frank Holtz with a Russian Bearhug. Another win for The Mongols tonight, who have been impressive since they made their debut in the Federation.

4. George Steele defeated Joe Crugnale in 4:01 by submission with a Flying Hammerlock.

5. Gorilla Monsoon & Victor Rivera defeated Tony Altimore & Prof. Toru Tanaka in 10:03 when Victor Rivera submitted Tony Altimore with an Abdominal Stretch. Once again, Gorilla and the Professor were at each other's necks in this budding feud. Tony Altimore ate the pinfall once again, seemingly down on his luck as he's tried his hand at more action away from The Sicilians tag team.

6. WWWF World Heavyweight Championship: Bruno Sammartino © defeated Ivan Koloff in 11:50 by count-out. The crowd in Washington was red hot as Bruno Sammartino defended his championship belt against "The Russian Bear". It did not take long for the action to spill outside as the two behemoths of the ring brawled on the outside. Koloff charged the champion but missed a clothesline and smacked his arm against the ring post! Koloff's manager Tony Angelo advised the challenger to stay outside the ring to prevent further damage to his arm, allowing the champion to retain via count-out!
