Ring of Honor Wrestling Television Preview

Friday, February Week 1, 2022

Fresh off the heels of a very exciting Survival of the Fittest the landscape of the new era of Ring of Honor has started to take shape. We have a clear World Champion in Jonathan Gresham as he was able to defeat Bandido in a match that saw both men fight to prove they are the top dog in the promotion. The celebration was short lived for Gresham though as the winner of Survival of the Fittest, and his new number one contender EC3 confronted the champion right after the match. He was joined soon after by The Titan, who sent a very physical message to Gresham that his days as champion are numbered. Now EC3 and The Titan have requested that their new group The Narrative kick off television this week, and they have promised that their group will expand and take over the narrative of Ring of Honor. Could they be expanding as early as tonight? What will they have in store for the undisputed World Champion?

viuTLt7.jpg vs. 34qvWqt.jpg

Tonight’s main event will feature two men who had their ups and downs in the Survival of the Fittest match last Saturday. Dalton Castle and Breezus, who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively will face off in a match that transpired because of the happenings of the elimination match. Castle and Breezus showed some great teamwork and worked their way through the majority of the match together. The fans were behind this new partnership and they seemed to gel really well. That is until Dalton Castle turned on Breezus at the first opportunity and knocked him right out of the match. Castle would go to fall to EC3, but moving forward these issues are sure to be explored by the two very unique personalities.

WxDHxY1.jpg

This week’s show will heavily feature the great luchadors of Ring of Honor. Rey Horus will get his hands on former Television Champion Rhett Titus. Horus has been promised a Television Championship match against Samuray del Sol in the future, but he still has unfinished business with the man that cheated him out of a title run. There will also be a great tag match featuring four of the top luchadors in ROH. Former World Champion Bandido will team up with current Television Champion Samuray del Sol to take on the team of Dragon Lee and Demonic Flamita. Both of these matches promise to show off some of the best in ring action you will see anywhere, and you don’t want to miss it!

Ring of Honor Wrestling

Friday, February Week 1, 2022

Mid Atlantic Region

Attendance: 250 (Sellout!)

47,740 viewers on HonorClub

Ring of Honor Wrestling opens up this week with a recap of Survival of the Fittest from last weekend. It shows EC3 winning a grueling six man elimination match to be crowned the survivor and earn a title shot at the 20th Anniversary Show in March. It then shows Jonathan Gresham and Bandido’s battle over the World Championship. It wraps up by showing the shocking apperance of The Titan, who did EC3’s bidding and drove the World Champion to the mat with a monstrous chokeslam to end the pay-per-view, and the declaration by EC3 that they would control the narrative of Ring of Honor going forward. The group’s music then hits as EC3 makes his way to the ring with The Titan towering behind him as the crowd gives them boos and thumbs down.

EC3

Are you all upset that myself and my friend Titan here showed up your precious World Champion at the end of the night last weekend? I promised you all month that EC3 has a bite to go along with his bark, and I began to write a new narrative for Ring of Honor. I outlasted five other men, then it all came together as The Titan here put an exclamation point on our coming out party.

The Titan

I’m not here in Ring of Honor to say yes sir and no sir to the powers that be. There isn’t a person that’s going to force me to do anything that’s not best for me and my friends. I came from a place that put a premium on being obedient and doing what’s best for business. Now I’ve found a group that puts ourselves first. We are here to control our own destiny. We are in control of our own narrative, nobody else.

EC3

We stand before you today men who were scooped up by a corrupt system in another promotion, and we were used for their short sided needs and we were spit out like we didn’t matter. Our talents were wasted as we did the bidding of a world wide corporation that is only out to sell t-shirts. We are not here to pander to any fans. We are here to show that we control our own destiny. Ring of Honor, consider yourself on notice. This revolution doesn’t just end with us two. There are many like us. We have been jaded by what professional wrestling has done to us, and it’s our time to take it back for ourselves. We will dominate not just the World Championship, we are going to dominate every aspect of ROH. The Tag Team Championships? You know The Narrative will find people that will tear those away from The Briscoes. The Television Championship? That will be like child’s play for The Narrative. And the Women’s Championship? That conquest starts in this next match. Let me introduce you to the first lady of The Narrative. Someone who was criminally mistreated, much like Titan and myself. I give you the baddest b**** in professional wrestling, Mia Yim!

LmmYM8i.jpg

Mia Yim makes her way down to the ring and shakes hands with EC3 and The Titan in the ring before taking the microphone for herself.

Mia Yim

Everything you said is 100 percent correct. We were mistreated, misused and cast aside. No more! I came from a place that says they revolutionized women’s wrestling. They didn’t revolutionize anything. Today starts the beginning of a revolution for women’s wrestling. The women of honor have a new story, and along with my friends here, we control The Narrative.

LmmYM8i.jpg vs. fs5oV9L.jpg

Mia Yim vs. Miranda Alize

Miranda seemed to have heard every word that The Narrative had just said because she came down to the ring fuming and on a mission. When the referee called for the bell she came out charging at Yim, who quickly met her with a thrust kick that put her flat on her back. She quickly began to systematically tear Alize down as she played to the fans asking if this is all ROH has to offer for her. She hit a couple high impact moves that could have finished the match but she wasn’t done putting on an exhibition in the ring. Eventually EC3 yelled from ringside to finish her, then she locked her in for a vicious curb stomp to put the luchadora out for the count.

Winner: Mia Yim

Time: 8:46

Rating: 46

Backstage we are in the office of Danhausen, where he is seen having a conversation with Joe Henning about his great match with Johnny Gargano at the pay-per-view last weekend. They are interrupted promptly by Brody King, who has been absent from the last several weeks of Ring of Honor.

Joe Henning

Well well well, look who has decided to finally join us.

Brody King

What are you two doing in here? Talking about how Joe here embarrassed himself in front of a world wide audience by losing after talking about making his family name proud? You sure did a bang up job of making that name proud. Nothing says I’m a Hennig like getting your shoulders pinned to the mat by a more talented wrestler.

Hennig quickly lunges at King before he takes a step back motioning that he’s not here to fight. The Commisionerhausen quickly gets between the two men to diffuse the situation from blowing up in his office and putting his very valuable Spider-Man action figures in danger.

Danhausen

Fellows! Calm down. Danhausen knows that you want to tear each other limb from limb. But you aren’t going to do it in the very prestigious offices of The Commisionerhausen! Joe, there’s no doubt that you put on a great showing at Survival of the Fittest, you should be proud of the fight you showed. Brody, I know you want to show how violent you can be, so I’m going to give you both the chance to prove yourselves. The match that was originally scheduled for Survival of the Fittest will happen next week on Ring of Honor Wrestling! Danhausen wants to see a great wrestling match, and may the best wrestler win.

Johnny Gargano vs. Josh Woods

This match features two men who both played big parts in Survival of the Fittest. Gargano put on one of the best matches in the new era of honor as he defeated Joe Henning in his debut match for ROH. Josh Woods played a part in the Survival of the Fittest match even though he was the second man eliminated. Woods came into the match thinking that he could physically dominate Gargano, but Johnny showed that his speed and technical combination may be unmatched by anybody on the ROH roster. He was firmly in control of the match when all of a sudden the lights dimmed and turned a shade of red, only to come back to normal a moment later. This allowed Woods to attempt to roll up Gargano, who got out at two. Woods used some submission holds to try to put Johnny away but he had an escape each time. Gargano showed his quality in the end and caught Woods with his slingshot DDT, One Final Beat to come out victorious, even though he seemed caught off guard by the weird happenings in the middle of the match.

Winner: Johnny Gargano

Time: 16:48

Rating: 59

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the match Gargano made his way up the ramp to the back, where Quinn McKay was waiting on him to interview him after his first victory on Ring of Honor’s weekly television show.

Quinn McKay

Johnny! What a great showing out there. You showed why the Ring of Honor fans are so high on you and excited to see what you have in store for them. That was a very impressive victory, but what was up with that moment during the match where you were distracted by that quick technical issue?

Johnny Gargano

Thank you Quinn. Josh Woods gave me a great fight in there, but that’s why I came to Ring of Honor, to face the best wrestlers inside that ring. As for that little lighting issue, where I came here from that may have been an ominous sign. I’m not betting on that though, I am here to show why Johnny Wrestling is one of the best in ring performers today, I’m not here to participate in any hijinks. I’m sure the kinks will get worked out. I can’t wait to see what I have in store for me here in Ring of Honor, but you can be sure that I’m going to defeat any challenge that might come my way.

Rey Horus vs. Rhett Titus

Rhett Titus hit the ring for his first match since losing the Television Championship against Samuray del Sol at Survival of the Fittest, and it was time to pay the piper for his actions against Rey Horus in their match last month. Horus would prefer that the title was on the line in this one, but he seemed happy enough to get his hands on the man that nearly dented his head with a steel chair last month. Horus was out to humiliate Titus, and even though Titus showed glimpses of why he was able to win the championship in the first place, Horus was fairly successful in not letting Titus get much going in the way of offense. After a final effort by Titus to get himself into the action he was planted by a tornado DDT from Horus, who quickly scaled the turnbuckles and nailed a picture perfect 450 splash to get a victory that must have felt great after what transpired between the two men. It also built momentum for the promised Television Championship match that Horus has coming his way.

Winner: Rey Horus

Time: 13:17

Rating: 58

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When the show comes back from break Rhett Titus is shown sulking backstage when a familiar figure comes up from behind him and puts his arm around the defeated former Television Champion.

Kenny King

Rhett, what has happened to you man? I’ve been watching you since you won that championship and you look like a shell of what you used to be. Man we ran this place, but you aren’t running anything nowadays. With this new era of honor going around they think they can put us both on the back burner for their new poster boys. I don’t think so. You know what I think Rhett? I think it’s time for a little reunion. It’s time for Ring of Honor to experience a little flashback. The All Night Express rides again baby!

Bandido and Samuray del Sol vs. Demonic Flamita and Dragon Lee

Talk about some fast paced action. This match featured four of the best luchadors in Ring of Honor, and they showed why their brand of action is so appealing as the audience was hanging on every move of this action packed match. Bandido looked to get back on the winning side of things as he teamed with Samuray del Sol, but Demonic Flamita and Dragon Lee also wanted to show why they should be in title contention in Ring of Honor. Bandido and Flamita faced off with great ferocity as the former best friends aren’t that far removed from a very heated rivalry against each other. Samuray also showed that he fit right in there with these three ROH mainstays as he kept up with them move for move. The finish came in a flurry as Dragon Lee took Samuray out of the ring then followed with a springboard dive to the floor. This left Bandido and Flamita to continue battling, with the finale coming with Bandido hitting the Revolution Fly on his former friend to give his team the victory.

Winners: Bandido and Samuray del Sol

The Titan vs. Vincent

Vincent is now a man without a following as most of his friends have departed Ring of Honor. And he drew the short end of the stick on this one as he gets the honor of being the first man to get to face off with The Titan in his Ring of Honor debut. Vincent isn’t a man to show fear, but maybe he should have in this matchup. He got right in Titan’s face, and was driven to the mat like a railroad spike. Titan didn’t waste any time as he threw him around like a ragdoll and hit like a freight train barreling down the tracks. The finish came when Titan grabbed Vincent around the neck, then gave him a chokeslam that echoed throughout the arena and stood on his chest with his arms raised for the victory.

Winner: The Titan

Main Event

Breezus vs. Dalton Castle

These two men excited the fans in attendance at Survival of the Fittest as they worked very well together as a unit, and they likely could have been the final two in the elimination match had Castle not double crossed Breezus and pinned him from behind. Now was the time for Castle to pay for those crimes. The two men feature a very similar look and style, and it meshed together well into a match that the fans were very excited to see. There were dueling Breezus and Castle chants as The Boys watched on nervously. Things looked to be done when Castle connected with the Bang-a-Rang, but Breezus got his foot up on the ropes and the referee noticed just in time. After a short amount of action Breezus also looked to have put things away with the Unprettier, but Castle also was able to get a rope break, leaving both men scrambling to try to put their opponent away. The climax of the match saw Castle go for a release german suplex on Breezus, but he was able to rotate and land on his feet, then charged and nailed the Beauty Shot and finally get the three count.

Winner: Breezus

Time: 17:17

Rating: 59

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the match The Boys got into the ring and were consoling Dalton Castle, who backed them up for a minute and held his head across the ring as Breezus was having his hand raised in victory. He quickly made his way over and got the referee away and squared off with Breezus in the middle of the ring. The crowd was waiting for Castle to come unglued and attack Breezus, but the opposite happened. He slowly held his hand out to Breezus for a handshake, and after judging the crowd’s feelings on this Breezus accepted as the two shared a Mega Power-esque handshake in the middle of the ring. Castle held the hand of Breezus high in the air, then walked him over to The Boys and introduced them as Breezus gave them handshakes as well. Ring of Honor Wrestling went off the air with Breezus and Castle walking together to the back and the question was asked, did we just see the formation of a power team after that grueling main event? If so things are really heating up in the tag team division.

Around the World of Wrestling

February Week 1, 2022

Tuesday

Terrible news out of the red hot AEW as one half of The Acclaimed, Max Caster will miss more than a year of action after he suffered a fractured skull. He suffered an injury in a tag team match on AEW Dark against The Dark Order. Hopefully after his lengthy recovery he will be able to return to full health and continue his promising career.

Wednesday

AEW bounced back from it’s rough night on Tuesday to hold one of the better matches seen in America this year so far. In the main event CM Punk teamed with Eddie Kingston to defeat the team of Andrade and Malachi Black. The match was rated a 91, providing a great showing for AEW in their war with WWE.

Sunday

2022 seems to be the year of the retirement as two notable wrestlers from the past few decades have decided to step away from the ring. MVP has announced he is officially stepping out of the ring, though it is believed he will continue to manage Bobby Lashley in WWE and possibly do some road agent work. Danhausen marked the occasion by bringing in bottles of Tropicana for everyone in the office, because much like MVP, he has the juice. Shark Boy announced his retirement on the same day to less fanfare. But Danhausen says we can learn very valuable lessons from Shark Boy, to live every week like it’s Shark Week.

Ring of Honor Wrestling Preview

M27b0Ct.jpg vs. 5wd5fYP.jpg

The main event of Ring of Honor Wrestling this week will feature a match that many fans were looking forward to at Survival of the Fittest as Joe Hennig will look to defend his family’s name against the ever dangerous Brody King. Hennig has looked solid since joining the Ring of Honor roster, ready to build on the legacy of his great family. King doesn’t seem to think that the Hennig name is worth that much anymore though and is out to prove that his brand of violence will outshine a family legacy anyday.

ML6qKiX.jpg

Last week saw Rhett Titus struggle in his match with Rey Horus, but this brought along his former teammate, Kenny King. King could hardly recognize his friend, and the two seemed to have rejoined forces at The All Night Express to try to get back into the win column. Titus and King seemed to have pulled some strings with The Commisionerhausen and instead of recieving a return match for the Television Championship his lost he will be using his rematch to team with King and go after the Tag Team Championships held by The Briscoes. The last time The Briscoes defended the Tag titles on television they suffered a shocking loss. This time will The Briscoes be able to turn back the challenge of the newly formed All Night Express?

WxDHxY1.jpg

Two of the other champions in Ring of Honor will be in action on Friday night in addition to the Tag Title Match. World Champion Jonathan Gresham has a bullseye on his back from The Narrative of EC3, The Titan and Mia Yim. With this new challenge on the horizon Gresham has promised that he will show EC3 exactly who he’s dealing with as he faces off with Mike Bennett in one on one action. The Women’s Champion Rok-C, fresh off her forcing Chelsea Green to leave ROH, will be in action as well as she faces off with the savvy veteran Katarina Waters. Can Waters take the fight to Rok-C and step up as the next challenger for the Women’s World Championship?

Ring of Honor World Tag Team Championships

The Briscoes © vs. The All Night Express

Ring of Honor Wrestling kicks off this week hot and heavy with a Tag Team Championship match. The last time The Briscoes defended the titles on TV they lost, so they are hoping for much better results this time around. The All Night Express is having their first match back together, taking advantage of Rhett Titus having a title shot in his back pocket, and turning it into this match. The rust was evident from the challengers early as they weren’t on the same page completely, allowing The Briscoes to hit some high impact moves and give them much of the advantage throughout the match. They got close to putting things away several times but the challengers would narrowly escape defeat. Eventually things started to come together for Titus and King, and the fans were treated to both teams performing some great tandem offense. This coming together for the Express came after too much punishment though as The Briscoes were able to get King out of the picture and spike Titus with a Doomsday Device to pick up their first defense in this newest title reign.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When Ring of Honor Wrestling comes back from break we see The Briscoes walking back to the locker room after a great title defense. When they get their Shane Taylor is standing in their area and seems to have something to say to the champions.

Shane Taylor

Congratulations boys. That was a hard fought victory you had out there. But then again, anybody who steps in there with Rhett Titus lately seems to be walking out the victor. Still, you all should be proud of yourselves, holding onto those championships. But what do you say to a little bit stiffer competition?

Jay Briscoe

Oh your boys Kaun and Moses are gonna step up and challenge The Briscoes for the championships?

Mark Briscoe

The SOS has got a bright future for sure but dem boys already got put down by The Briscoes a few weeks ago. We aren’t one to shy away from a fight though so we’ll put them down again, name the time and place.

Shane Taylor

Did you all hear me say the soldiers would be the ones to face you? No boys, that’s not the case. Kaun and Moses still have some learning to do under the tree of Shane Taylor, but they’ll be ready soon enough. I was thinking that maybe it’s time for yours truly to get a little gold around his waist.

Jay Briscoe

And who the hell would want to team with you?

Shane Taylor

How about next week you head out to that ring and find out. Let’s say Jay Briscoe takes on my partner. And if he should come out on top you owe us a World Tag Team Championship match?

Jay Briscoe

Oh it’s on!

Katarina Waters vs. Rok-C

The Women’s World Champion Rok-C has a stiff battle in this one, facing off with someone twice her age and with more experience than that. Waters set out to prove that she’s worthy of being in the title picture in the women’s division, but Rok-C showed why she’s considered a prodigy. For every move that Waters pulled out of her bag, the champion had an escape for it. Once she weathered many attacks from Waters she started to mount some offense of her own that Waters didn’t have much of a response for. That was until The Narrative made their way down to the ring as Mia Yim was flanked by EC3 and The Titan. Rok-C was distracted by them and rolled up, but was able to kick out at two. She started fighting back as the three on the outside applauded her efforts in a mocking fashion. The finish came when Rok-C told Mia to watch this then nailed The Prodigy on Waters to get a convincing victory.

Winner: Rok-C

Time: 8:43

Rating: 52

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the match Mia Yim didn’t waste any time as she was in the ring by the time the referee counted three. As soon as the match was over Yim starting laying the boots to the champion. She mounted her and dropped some massive lefts and rights as Rok-C struggled to cover the onslaught from the vicious Yim. EC3 and Titan yelled encouragement at Yim, but it was then that a figure sprinted between the two men and hit the ring herself.

jiBkBN7.jpg

Caprice Coleman

Oh my god that’s Athena! She’s here to save Rok-C! They were both trained by Booker T and that bond may just save Rok-C from this beatdown!

Athena hit the ring hard and went right to the defense of her fellow Booker T trainee Rok-C as she performed a picture perfect takedown of Mia Yim and the two struggled to try to land shots on the other. EC3 had seen enough though and sent Titan into the ring to get Yim out of harm's way as he picked up Yim and carried her to the corner where EC3 told her to get out of there and live to fight another day. Athena got Rok-C’s title from the referee and handed it to her then helped her get to her feet as the two women stood in unity against a very angry Mia Yim.

Dalton Castle vs. Vik

With the tag team scene lighting up in Ring of Honor in recent weeks it continues here as Dalton Castle is accompanied to the ring by his newfound friend Breezus to take on Vik, who was accompanied by his partner Big Kon. The announcers let us know that with the ramped up competition coming to the tag scene there would be a set of singles matches in the next two weeks between The Awakening and Breezus and Castle. After those matches there will be a tag match between the teams, and that would go a long way in setting the hierarchy in the teams chasing The Briscoes. Castle had the advantage most of the match, but Vik showed his great training and was able to keep fighting back against Castle and keeping him on the ropes. The fact that Castle is a much more polished singles competitor than Vik came in to play throughout the match, and the mountain was too much to climb for Vik, who was pinned after a Everest German Suplex from Castle gave him the victory.

Rey Horus vs. Rocky Romero

This match featured some of the fasted action you are going to see in a Ring of Honor contest. The two lightning quick competitors didn’t waste any time trying to size each other up as they both came out of the gate firing on all cylinders. Horus, who has a Television Championship match against Samuray del Sol in the coming weeks looked to be trying to get himself geared up for that match, and Romero was on the rough side of many great high impact moves from Horus. He used a variety of springboards and top rope moves on Romero, capped off with a vicious dive through the ropes to the outside on Romero. The veteran of New Japan tried to stay in the match using whatever tactics he could, but it was not enough as Horus brought the crowd to their feet with a 450 Splash to finish off the proceedings in a very impressive manor.

Jonathan Gresham vs. Mike Bennett

Mike Bennett wasn’t able to come out on top at Survival of the Fittest, but he had a golden opportunity in this match as he faced off with World Champion Jonathan Gresham. Bennett decided that it was a good idea to try to go move for move with Gresham, and the announcers and crowd both knew this was a terrible idea from the start. He looked at a loss when everytime he would perform what he thought was a good hold on Gresham, the Octopus would get himself out of it and place Bennett in a hold much worse than what he had attempted. Gresham was in complete control of the match until The Narrative made their presence known for the second match of the night. EC3 and Titan made their way down and made it known they were only here to watch. Bennett started to fight back a little bit, even connecting with a few high impact moves, but it turned out to be in vein as he got caught with the Octopus Lock, and was quickly forced to tap out to the World Champion.

Winner: Jonathan Gresham

Time: 14:32

Rating: 53

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the match, much like earlier in the night EC3 and The Titan stepped up onto the ring apron. Gresham wasn’t going to take anything laying down though as he used Bennett like a projectile and pushed him towards EC3 and Titan to give himself a little room between them. He quickly rolled to the outside and grabbed a chair and a microphone from the ring announcer and let The Narrative know he was ready for them.

Jonathan Gresham

You two want to come in here now and meet my friend here? I didn’t think so. EC3! You have been running your mouth about being misused and spit out. That sounds like it’s too bad for you all. Maybe if you didn’t spend all your time running your mouths and blaming others for your shortcomings you’d be the face of a company like I am. I come out here night after night and show why I deserve this World Championship I wear around my waist. You’ve got a long ways to go to stand where I’m standing. Next week how about you guys put up or shut up. You two put on some boots and get in this ring with me. I’ll pick a partner and we’ll show the world why you couldn’t cut it anywhere else!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After this challenge the crowd is buzzing as the cameras go to the announcers where they are introducing the upcoming interview.

Ian Riccabani

Wow what a challenge laid out by the World Champion there! I wonder who will be man enough to stand next to him in the ring against The Narrative? But now we turn our attention to Quinn McKay, who is standing by with Johnny Gargano!

We go backstage to the interview between McKay and Gargano, but it isn’t McKay standing with a microphone to interview Johnny, it’s another familiar face to Ring of Honor fans.

yIbWGCp.jpg

Ian Riccabani

Oh my mistake. It seems that Quinn McKay isn’t the one that will be interviewing Mr. Gargano, it’s our old friend Scarlett Bordeaux. I had no idea that Scarlett was going to be here with us tonight? It’s not on our sheets here. Caprice, did you know about this?

Caprice Coleman

I had no clue Ian. It says right here on our format, Quinn McKay interview with Johnny Gargano. But I’m not mad at seeing Scarlett back in Ring of Honor, so let’s go back to her and Johnny.

Scarlett Bordeaux

Thanks guys! It’s great to be back here in Ring of Honor, and it’s my pleasure to be here with Johnny Gargano! Johnny, you’ve looked nothing but impressive in your time here in ROH. What sorts of heights are you hoping to achieve now that you are here to stay?

Johnny Gargano

Wow, thanks Scarlett. I had no clue you’d be joining us here. That’s a pleasant surprise I guess. To answer your question I’m here to prove that I’m the most well rounded wrestler in the world today. I’m here to brawl with the brawlers, I’m here to fly with the high flyers, and I’m here to wrestle with the best of the best. I’ve already started to prove myself, and I’ll stop at nothing less than winning the Ring of Honor World Championship. ROH is a company full of great wrestlers, and more are being added by the week. I’ll show why they call me Johnny Wrestling, and sooner or later you’ll all call me Johnny Champion!

Main Event

Brody King vs. Joe Henning

These two have talked a big game leading up to this match. Hennig is out to make his family proud, and King things that Hennig’s family legacy is nothing to write home about. He was in the head of Hennig, and it showed as the third generation star came out of the gate like a man with something to prove. He showed his vicious side as he pummeled King at any opportunity he had, yelling out as he unleashed a great amount of offense. Something seemed like that his is exactly what King wanted as he absorbed all the offense on Hennig, who was starting to slow, not able to keep up his blistering pace. King then uncoiled and replayed all this offense back to Hennig in spades. Hennig was definitely off his game as he was attacked from all angles by King, not able to withstand this offense from the violent tattooed covered King. He tried several times in vein to mount a comeback and do the Hennig name proud, but he was unable to and King spiked Henning to the mat with his cradle shock finisher, The All Seeing Eye to get the three count, and stand victorious as Ring of Honor Wrestling faded to black seeing King back up his words and stand triumphant.

Conan

Danny! I’ve been keeping up with your shows. Gotta say I really enjoy seeing all these new people pop up and add to the roster that we have. I think the needle is finally starting to move to where people will start to pay attention to us and work our way towards a TV show. Which brings me to why I called you. Why the hell does it look like our show was recorded on a home camera in Mrs. Hausen’s basement?

Danhausen

Ah yes Conan, Dave Honor was nice enough to leave me all his cameras and crew to keep putting our show together. Great man, Danhausen didn’t have to spend any monies at all to get our show on the HonorClub.

Conan

That’s the problem Danny! I’m not here to fund a show that looks like it should be aired on public access television. Granted that would be a step up from our TV deal now. And the music!

Danhausen

Yes Danhausen tried to get Jesse and the Rippers back together to do our music but Mr. Jesse Katsopolis won’t return any of Danhausen’s calls.

Conan

There it is. I was wondering how long this conversation would go before you started spouting nonsense. Here’s the deal. If we are going to continue growing and get me the power I want, and you the monies, we are going to have to do something about this. I’ve heard you bragging about being able to use that Team Coco money. While don’t you go use it on something good. Get us some new cameras, some new crew and some better music. I watch our show and then NXT and it looks like we are bargain basement. Conan O’Brien is not bargain basement! Make it happen!

Around the World of Wrestling

February Week 2, 2022

Monday

Big news from the ever fascinating world of wrestling relationships. One of our new wrestlers, The Titan, has broken up with his longtime girlfriend, NXT’s Raquel Gonzalez. EC3, being the ever supportive friend that he is has promised to show Titan some of the finer adult establishments in the northeast to cure his broken heart. Danhausen even bought him a Hallmark condolences card, which The Titan didn’t seem to be entertained with. It’s all about the thought I guess.

Veer Mahan has finally come to Raw! And Veer Mahan will now miss over a year of action. After a lengthy build to his epic in ring debut on Raw, Veer Mahan finally made his way into action, and promptly had his neck broken in a match with Cedric Alexander. Mahan, a former pitcher in the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball organization now hits the rehab trail, and Danhausen says he can’t wait for Veer is Coming the sequel.

Wednesday

Two of wrestling’s best friends have had a falling out! Trish Stratus and Lita shared some barbs on Twitter, then both women went public that they are no longer friends and each had some colorful words for what they thought of the other. Danhausen, being the kind hearted soul that he is, has publicly offered to mediate a pillow fight between the two to try and work through their issues.

Thursday

New Japan Pro Wrestling seems to have refound their form as they keep producing great show after great show. This time at New Beginning in Hiroshima they put together an 85 rated show, one of the highest all around shows in recent memory. The main event saw two all time greats battle as Okada defeated Tanahashi in a match that was also rated at an 85.

Saturday

WWE’s NXT have vacated their championship, and at their show tonight they crowned a new holder for the title. In a 63 rated main event Dexter Lumis claimed his first NXT Championship in a victory over Pete Dunne. Danhausen says this whole situation gets a big thumbs up from him.

Sunday

Forget about it! More wrestlers are hanging up their boots. This time it’s WWE and ECW veteran James Maritato, known to some fans as Nunzio. We expected some sort of hijinx from Danhausen, but he actually brought in a delicious lasagna to celebrate Maritato’s career. He says he cooked it himself but we are pretty sure his wife had something to do with it.

Ring of Honor Wrestling Preview

Friday, February Week 3, 2022

NpdrAYN.jpgaoNtwob.jpgoopkHhT.jpg

Ring of Honor Wrestling will feature a couple mysteries this week. First the main event will feature The Narrative of EC3 and The Titan teaming together for the first time in ROH as they will square off with World Champion Jonathan Gresham and a partner of his choosing. There should be no shortage of wrestlers ready to stand by Gresham’s side after all the inflammatory things the group has been spouting as of late. Will the answer come from inside Gresham’s stable from the old ROH, The Foundation? Will someone else from the roster step up to try to slow the momentum of The Narrative? Or could we possibly see someone not yet on the radar step in to give a hand to the champion? EC3 and The Titan seem to not worry who they will be squared off against. EC3 is supremely confident that will his strategy and The Titan’s brawn that they can fend off any challenge on the road to 20th Anniversary.

T1GFlgx.jpgXAIrXak.jpg6g7dKI9.jpg

Our other mystery of the night surrounds the World Tag Team Championships. The Briscoes successfully turned back the challenge of the newly reformed All Night Express last week, but there’s no rest for the weary. They were approached by Shane Taylor, who claims to have a tag team partner that will make his presence known on Ring of Honor television this week. Jay Briscoe has agreed to take on whoever Taylor’s partner is, and if Briscoe cannot defeat him the champions have promised Taylor a championship match. Jay Briscoe is one of the most decorated wrestlers to ever step foot in a Ring of Honor arena, who does Taylor have up his sleeve that he’s so confident can take the fight to Briscoe?

WxDHxY1.jpg

Other action sees the Television Champion in a six man tag match that promises to thrill the fans and offer a warmup to the two men who will fight for that title on next week’s episode of Ring of Honor Wrestling. The champion, Samuray del Sol will team with his challenger Rey Horus and his friend Bandido. The trio will take on the group of Demonic Flamita, Dragon Lee, and the ultra violent Brody King. Samuray and Horus will look to get into top form before their title match, while Flamita and Lee are looking to get back on the winning track. Their partner Brody King is coming off a huge win against Joe Hennig and is possibly looking to prove that he deserves to be in title contention himself. There will also be a huge women’s match as Athena makes her in ring debut against Sumie Sakai, and the new rivalry of Breezus and Castle against The Awakening continues with Breezus facing off with Big Kon before their tag match next week.

Ring of Honor Wrestling

Friday, February Week 3, 2022

Tri State Region

Attendance: 336

46,439 viewers on HonorClub

Ring of Honor Wrestling starts this week with the entrance of The Briscoes as Jay Briscoe is heading out with his brother to face Shane Taylor’s mystery partner in singles action. There is a lot at stake in this match as The Briscoes have promised Taylor and his partner a championship match if he’s able to win. Jay is a decorated singles competitor in his own right, so whoever is going one-on-one with him tonight has no small challenge ahead of him. The brothers get in the ring and Jay warms up as he awaits his opponent when Shane Taylor’s music hits.

Shane Taylor

Here we are, the beginning of the end for The Briscoes. You all are sitting on top of the tag team throne here in Ring of Honor, but it’s time for those days to come to an end. The Briscoes are no longer the best tag team in wrestling because I’ve reached out to an old friend. It’s time for the tag teams in ROH to stand at attention. Everybody get on their feet and welcome back to Ring of Honor my partner, one half of the PBK, Keith Lee!

VNR7DcA.jpg

Keith Lee makes his way out of the curtain to a thunderous applause from the fans. Lee made his name in Ring of Honor as one half of the Pretty Boy Killers with Shane Taylor, and Taylor has pulled off a huge coup here by recruiting his old friend back to ROH and getting him to team once again. The Briscoes looked very impressed by their opponent as Lee made his way down the ramp with Taylor in tow. He got in the ring and was met by a barrage of streamers from the fans as he peeked out from under his hood and prepared for his first action in a ROH ring in five years.

If Lee wins the PBK get a Championship Match with The Briscoes

Jay Briscoe vs. Keith Lee

After not wrestling in a very long time Keith Lee came out amped up for this match, his return to Ring of Honor. He had something to prove to himself and the fans after a very rough last several months, and Jay Briscoe bore the brunt of that in the start of this match. Lee threw him around the ring like a ragdoll, but Briscoe didn’t get where he was by not having a few tricks up his sleeve as well. Briscoe let Lee wear himself down some, then it was time to pounce. He fought tooth and nail as his tag titles could very well come down to him turning back the challenge of Keith Lee here. He hit and dodged very well through the mid point of the match, but a turning point came when he came down off the top for a double axe handle on Lee, but Lee caught him with two hands around the throat and performed an overhead throw by Briscoe’s neck. He then wasted no time as he set Briscoe up and delivered a Spirit Bomb that echoed throughout the area, and gave the PBK a title match at the coveted Tag Team Championships.

Winner: Keith Lee

Time: 14:52

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the match the crowd erupted as Keith Lee pointed high in the air, triumphant in his return to the wrestling ring. A battered Jay Briscoe was helped to his feet by his brother, as they looked on in awe at the man standing across the ring from them. Lee wasted no time in approaching Jay and reaching out his hand to him, congratulating him on a great matchup. The crowd was very pleased as Lee shook both men’s hands, but it was short lived as Lee’s partner Shane Taylor pulled him away from The Briscoes, saying that they didn’t need to show respect to their opponents. The crowd let out a massive boo at Taylor, who was guiding Lee away from The Briscoes and to the back.

Big Kon vs. Breezus

This match follows the singles match last week between Dalton Castle and Vik that saw Castle come out victorious. This time his partner Breezus would look to make it two in a row for the team before they face off with The Awakening in tag team action next week on Ring of Honor Wrestling. Breezus controlled the pacing of this match very well, keeping it fairly high octane and not giving the much bigger Big Kon a chance to gather himself before attacks. Breezus tried to cut down Big Kon at the legs, and had good success doing it, but was never able to make his opponent submit to his attempts. The finish came as Breezus came charging at Kon for the Beauty Shot, but Big Kon ducked this attempt. With Breezus stunned he locked him into a full nelson and planted him with a massive slam, earning his team a victory heading into the tag match next week.

Winner: Big Kon

Kenny King vs. Slex

Slex is making his first appearance in awhile in ROH, and he faces a tough match in this one as he has to go against Kenny King, who was recently reunited with All Night Express partner Rhett Titus. The Australian wrestler fought hard against King, trying to prove to The Commisionerhausen that he deserved a spot on shows going forward, and he looked fairly strong throughout the match. He wasn’t much of a match for King though, who’s unrivaled athleticism was too much for Slex as the match wore on. At one point Slex went for a tombstone on King, but he was able to get behind Slex and hoist him up for the Royal Flush, giving himself the victory and building momentum for The All Night Express.

Winner: Kenny King

As we come back from commercial we catch up with Kenny King who is in his locker room, being congratulated by his partner in The All Night Express, Rhett Titus.

Kenny King

You see that Rhett? That’s how The All Night Express takes care of business! I’m getting sick and tired of being pushed aside for new talent around here. We don’t need new talent, we need to get our heads on straight and work our way back up and take those titles from The Briscoes! Today starts a new day for the All Night Express! Rhett, I need you to show me that you are on board. I need you to show me that I didn’t make a mistake by rejoining forces with you. We’ve been to the top before, I know we can do it again!

Bandido, Rey Horus and Samuray del Sol vs. Brody King, Demonic Flamita and Dragon Lee

In recent weeks the luchadors of Ring of Honor have been facing off more frequently, much to the delight of the crowd. That continued this week, with the exception being the addition of Brody King. King has recently returned to action in ROH with a big victory over Joe Henning, and he’s looking to build momentum, feeling he should be in a title hunt. He was a very effective piece for his team as the luchadors would be firing off lightning quick offense, then King would step into the ring and cut off the opposing team’s momentum with his brutal style of offense. For a long time Horus was separated from his two partners, but he did a great job of staying alive and extending the match for his team to get a hot tag. Eventually it came and Samuray del Sol came in and took it to King, while Bandido took out both Flamita and Dragon Lee. The finish came lightning quick though as Samuray was looking to put the finishing touches on King, but he was caught out of nowhere with the All Seeing Eye, giving King a pinfall victory over the Television Champion.

Winners: Brody King, Demonic Flamita and Dragon Lee

Time: 15:04

Rating: 63

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the match the winners celebrated and headed to the back, leaving Samuray del Sol in the ring collecting himself. Rey Horus, who was fighting on the outside when the fall came collected the Television Championship from ringside. He came into the ring with it then approached Samuray, who was getting himself back up to his feet after suffering his first defeat in Ring of Honor. Horus held the title for Samuray, but when he got his hands on it he pulled the title in close, bringing the two masked stars face to face.

Ian Riccaboni

Things are getting heated here between the two luchadors before their Television Championship match on next week’s Ring of Honor Wrestling! These two great stars are going to give it their all to make sure they leave with that championship around their waist. It’s definitely not one you are going to want to miss!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

jiBkBN7.jpg vs. lKTWO4k.jpg

Athena vs. Sumie Sakai

This match features two of the more respected women in professional wrestling, and Athena is wanting to start her Ring of Honor career with a victory in this battle. It was a very physical affair with both women delivering a flurry of chops and forearm to the other, and the fans made sure they showed their appreciation as the women were battling at a furious pace to try and come out on top. There was a lengthy exchange of pinfalls between the two, with each getting a two count and then reversing into a pinfall of their own. Sakai took the battle to the top near the end and delivered a missile dropkick to Athena, but still only got a two count. She looked to up the impact and threw Athena into the corner, where she went for a superplex. Athena threw Sakai off the ropes though and stayed perched on the top rope. In an instant she flew off the ropes and connected with a stunner, unleashing the Eclipse for the first time in Ring of Honor and getting a very impressive victory.

Winner: Athena

Time: 11:56

Rating: 48

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the match Athena showed her excitement, celebrating and posing for the fans who were very happy to see her come out on top in her debut Ring of Honor match. That was cut short though by the entrance of The Narrative. EC3 led The Titan and Mia Yim out to the ring, and Yim stepped between the two men to get in the ring and get right in Athena’s face. It didn’t take long for Women’s Champion Rok-C to come sprinting from the back to stand by Athena’s side against Yim, showing that their similar pedigree wasn’t something she takes lightly, and repaying Athena helping her against Yim last week. The tension could be cut with a knife until the music of The Commisionerhausen hit in the arena and he came to the stage with microphone in hand.

Danhausen

Ladies, cool the jets! Danhausen wants to see all three of you do battle, but there’s a time and a place for that. Next week seems like a good time for me to get started. Athena and Mia Yim, you are both new here but you’ve impressed the Commisionerhausen already, and you deserve your chance. That’s why next week you will fight, and the winner gets a title shot against the champion Rok-C!

The Narrative vs. Jonathan Gresham and Johnny Gargano

Up until the start of the match the fans didn’t know who was going to be Gresham’s partner in this match, then they went wild when Johnny Gargano answered the call of the World Champion. EC3 and The Titan didn’t seemed deterred by Gresham’s partner though, Titan looked like he was ready to tear the head from anyone who would dare get in his way. In a very smart move Gresham and Gargano got EC3 in their quarter of the ring and did everything in their power to keep him from getting The Titan into the match. This was no easy feat as EC3 fought with everything he had to try to escape, but the two great technical wrestlers showed their ability by tying him up in every hold you could imagine. The Titan began to get restless on the outside as he wasn’t able to put his hands on anybody. The tide changed in an unforeseen way though as much like Gargano’s last match, the lights went dark, this time red text that looked like fresh blood appeared on the video board in the arena.

THE BLOOD OF GARGANO WILL BE SPILLED

This distraction of course caught the full attention of Johnny Gargano, who looked very confused who could be playing these mind games with him. This distraction allowed EC3 to get to his corner, and that spelled trouble for Gargano and the World Champion. The Titan stepped over the top rope, and Gargano having regained his composure charged at Titan, where he was met with a shoulder block that sent him flying across the ring. He then challenge Gresham to get in and throw hands with him, and the World Champion quickly tried to go low and takedown The Titan, but he stomped his huge boot into his back, flattening him where he stood. He then gathered up Gargano and Gresham, grabbed each around the neck and delivered a thunderous double chokeslam. Before he could go for the pin EC3 ordered Titan to tag him in, and he was able to get into the ring and cover the World Champion Gresham to give himself a pinfall victory over the champion a little more than a month before their World Title match at 20th Anniversary.

ROH Announces New Signing

Ring of Honor Wrestling is proud to announce the signing of Mascara Dorada, formerly known as Gran Metalik, to a contract to wrestle with the promotion. With Ring of Honor featuring a heavy focus on luchadors in this reboot under Danhausen, one of the more talented wrestlers to come out of Mexico will call ROH home in the coming weeks. Dorada is a ring veteran that has plied his craft all over the world, mostly notably in CMLL, NJPW and WWE. He held numerous championships in CMLL where he was one of their biggest stars during his time there. As Gran Metalik in WWE he impressed by making a deep run in the Cruiserweight Classic and was a member of Lucha House Party.

In ROH he will be reunited with good friend, World Television Champion Samuray del Sol. The Television Championship picture has been surrounded by luchadors in recent weeks as they look to make the title one of fast paced action for the Ring of Honor fans. Danhausen is on record saying how excited he is for this new addition, and thinks that Dorada could fit in all three title pictures in Ring of Honor during his stay. Danhausen was tasked with remaking the ROH roster in this reboot of the promotion taking on several new faces in his two months in charge. Dorada is expected to make his ROH debut in the coming weeks.

Around the World of Wrestling

February Week 3, 2022

Sunday

This week in wrestling was super slow until Sunday, and it’s all WWE themed. On Sunday WWE held Elimination Chamber, which oddly enough featured exactly zero Elimination Chamber matches. There were some highlights, but at our watch party we were all kind of confused. It’d be like if when Danhausen hosted Jordynne and Jonathan’s baby shower he didn’t deliver on the punch and pie that he promised. In the action from the event Roman Reigns defended his Universal Champion against ROH alumni Cesaro in an 81 rated main event. Becky Lynch continued her dominance since her return to action by beating Bianca Belair. The Intercontinental Championship changed hands as Sami Zayn defeated Shinsuke Nakamura. The match of the night was a tag match that saw Seth Rollins team with Big E to defeat AJ Styles and Riddle in a match rated at an 82.

WWE also decided to give their women’s division a big boost as longtime NXT standout Io Shirai has been called up to the main roster. It’ll be interesting to see how her talent is utilized heading into WrestleMania for the company. The women’s division also lost a budding talent as Doudrop shattered her knee at the event in a match with Rhea Ripley. Doudrop is expected to miss over a year of action.

We got heat! There seems to have been some bad blood formed as Corey Graves and Joey Mercury have been trading barbs on social media and Graves took to his podcast to address the situation. There was an airing of grievances and let's just say that Mercury isn’t likely to get a Christmas card from Graves and Carmella this winter.

Ring of Honor Wrestling Preview

Friday, February Week 4, 2022

CewxaEN.jpg vs. pqtA1ND.jpg

This week’s episode of Ring of Honor Wrestling promises to be one of the biggest to date. Our main event this week will feature action for the Television Championship. Reigning champion Samuray del Sol will be putting his title on the line against a man who has had a title shot coming for quite some time, Rey Horus. The two men have been on the same side of several team matches since Samuray joined Ring of Honor earlier in the year, but when they came out on the losing in last week there seemed to be tension between the two. Horus has weeks to prepare for this championship opportunity, will he make the most of it or will Samuray continue to show his talent inside the ROH ring.

jiBkBN7.jpg vs. LmmYM8i.jpg

The Women’s Division in Ring of Honor continues to heat up under Danhausen’s direction. In the past few weeks we have been introduced to The Narrative’s fighting female, Mia Yim. She looked to make a statement right away with World Women’s Champion Rok-C, but another woman new to ROH, Athena made her presence known and came to the aid of her fellow Booker T trainee. Both women have let Yim and The Narrative know that they aren’t going to let them run over the women’s division, and they are here to put up a fight. The powderkeg was given a little spark from Danhausen this week as well as he made it known the woman who wins the Athena vs. Mia Yim match this week will receive a title match against Rok-C.

WxDHxY1.jpg

There promises to be even more great action this week as we’ve been told that we will see what’s sure to be a great matchup as Dragon Lee takes on Johnny Gargano. The two men use a great mix of speed and technical ability to be successful in the ring, and it’ll be interesting to see what man is able to come out on top. There seem to be supernatural things happening to Gargano to try to distract him from his matchups in recent weeks as well, you have to wonder if that’ll play a part in this matchup. In other action Shane Taylor will face Mark Briscoe, one week after his bombshell announcement that Keith Lee has returned to reform the PBK with him. They have already earned a Tag Team Championship match, so this preview will go a long way to seeing what team will head into that match with the upper hand. Other tag team action will see the new team of Breezus and Dalton Castle team for the first time against The Awakening. Will Breezus and Castle continue to stay on the same page, or will their similar personalities clash when they are teamed up finally?

Dragon Lee vs. Johnny Gargano

This huge edition of Ring of Honor Wrestling kicks off with two of the most talented in-ring performers in the promotion doing battle for a fanbase who is very excited to see how things go. Gargano has been plagued by mysterious interruptions the last few weeks, and he goes into this one trying not to let that get in his head against a deadly competitor. Like many fans expected, these two men put on a high speed technical masterclass with a few high impact moves mixed in. There was lots of counter wrestling exhibited in this match as it seemed very evenly paced with neither man gaining much of a lasting advantage. The announcers spoke on the fact that Gargano keeps peeking at the entrance ramp waiting for some sort of distraction, but it never came. Up until the final bell the two men were still trading blow for blow, but it was Gargano who got in an advantageous position and locked in the Gargano Escape, causing Dragon Lee to submit.

Winner: Johnny Gargano

Time: 18:58

Rating: 67

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the match Gargano celebrated in the ring and the fans congratulated him on a big victory as he continues to rack up wins in his time at Ring of Honor. As he backed up the entrance ramp he was greeted by the woman who surprisingly reappeared to interview Johnny a few weeks ago, Scarlett Bordeaux.

Scarlett Bordeaux

Congratulations on another big victory Johnny! You looked very impressive out there once again. What do you attribute to your continued rise here in Ring of Honor?

Johnny Gargano

Well Scarlett, nice to have you back once again. I’d have to say that it’s a combination of things that…

With that the lights go down and a single red spotlight appears on Bordeaux, who has suddenly taken on a much more menacing appearance in this light. Gargano looks at her with great interest as her voice has changed to a much frightening tone that it was before.

Scarlett Bordeaux

Your time is coming Johnny! Your blood will paint the canvas red! Time is running out Johnny! He’s coming for you!

The red spot light disappears from Scarlett, leaving the arena in pitch darkness. After a few seconds the arena lights come back up and Gargano is left standing by himself at the top of the entrance way. He looks around the arena for a threat he feels coming, but seeing nothing he quickly exits to the back as the announcers question what it was we just saw.

Breezus and Castle vs. The Awakening

This match was a few weeks in the making. Two weeks ago Dalton Castle was able to get a singles victory over Vik of The Awakening. Then last week Big Kon was able to defeat Breezus. This tag match is the rubber match between the pairs, and even though the crowd was excited to see how it played out it was unfortunately underwhelming. Breezus and Castle, who seemed to be on the same page at Survival of the Fittest and in the past few weeks were back to square one in this one. Their similar styles didn’t mesh and it made for some awkward attempts at teamwork between the two men. The Awakening took advantage of this and used their experience together to punish their opponent’s and keep them from working together. The tide turned under the sheer talent of Castle and Breezus as singles talent, as the match broke down and turned into an all out brawl. This saw Castle go to the outside with Vik, and as they brawled Big Kon looked to repeat the action of last week, but Breezus learned from his failure and nailed Kon with the Beauty Shot to earn the victory despite the team showing next to zero chemistry.

Number One Contender’s Match for the Women’s World Championship

Athena vs. Mia Yim

This is another highly anticipated bout, and surprisingly Mia Yim made her way to the ring by herself for this number one contender’s match against Athena. The two women have ramped up hostilities very quickly as they are both relatively new to the ROH scene, and it didn’t take them long to rise to the top and fight for an opportunity at Rok-C’s championship. Both women showed why they come in with world class pedigrees, and they didn’t shy away from a heavy hitting contest in this one. Yim unloaded with some heavy offense, but Athena showed her resilience as she was able to withstand the offense and show off her own set of great moves. This tide was clearly turning to Athena’s corner, and that promptly brought out The Narrative to get a closer look. Athena kept fighting even though EC3 and The Titan were now at ringside yelling for their stablemate to fight back. Athena looked to finish things off and climbed to the top for the Eclipse, but The Titan wasn’t going to have it and got up on the apron, staring eye to eye with Athena, who was perched on the top. This frightening distraction gave Yim enough time to gather herself, then meet Athena at the top rope and hit a beautiful frankensteiner from the top and gave herself a very underhanded victory and an opportunity at Rok-C’s championship.

Winner and Number One Contender: Mia Yim

When Ring of Honor Wrestling comes back from break Rok-C and Athena are already in the office of the Commisionerhausen making their feelings known about what just transpired in the ring.

Rok-C

Are you serious? I know you live in your own little world there but did you see what just happened? The Narrative stuck their nose in business they had no right to be a part of. How is Athena supposed to get a fair opportunity when she has a monster staring her in the face? You better do something about this?

Danhausen

Yes Danhausen saw what happened out there. Very evil. But they didn’t break any rules. The Titan may have stuck his nose in your business, but he didn’t lay a hand on anyone. Mia Yim will get her championship match next week on Ring of Honor Wrestling. Danhausen thinks that it may be smart for Rok-C to have a friend in her corner and such. Do with that bit of advice what you will. Good luck next week, Danhausen thinks you might need it.

Bandido vs. Tony Deppen

Bandido has been featured in several tag team matches since unsuccessfully challenging for the World Championship last month, and he looks to get a victory on his own for the first time since then. Deppen is no easy opponent though as he brings a very frantic pace which matched the lightning quick speed of Bandido to bring a match that had the fans on the edge of their seats the whole time, sensing that a finish could come at any minute. Deppen mainly tried to use his technical ability to slow down Bandido, but it only worked in short spurts as the luchador kept fairly strong control over the action throughout. Depped tried several times to take out the legs of Bandido, but he was met with a series of kicks that showed that this strategy wasn’t paying off. The finish came as Bandido met Deppen on the top rope, then drilled his moonsault fallaway slam, the Revolution Fly to get an impressive victory and attempt to get back to the top of the rankings in ROH.

Mark Briscoe vs. Shane Taylor

This match continues what started last week as The Briscoes had Shane Taylor unveil the reunification of The PBK with Keith Lee and step up to be the next challengers for the World Tag Team Championships at 20th Anniversary. Last week Lee was able to win that opportunity against Jay Briscoe, and now this week The Briscoes look to even things up as Mark gets a shot at Shane Taylor. Taylor threw his substantial size advantage around as he kept Briscoe from unleashing his high impact offense on him, but the fans were strongly behind Mark in this battle, as they are with most of The Briscoe’s matches, and he was able to start building up momentum as the match carried on. He showed his superior stamina and in the late goings he had a clear advantage over one of his challengers. Things did a complete 180 at a moments notice though as Briscoe had Taylor wrapped up when he lifted his leg back and connected with a clear low blow. The crowd booed heavily and Jay Briscoe looked incensed at ringside. Keith Lee even looked like he wasn’t happy with his partners tactics. This allowed Taylor to scoop up Mark and hit the Greetings from the 216 to get a tainted victory over one half of the Tag Team Champions.

Winner: Shane Taylor

Time: 11:09

Rating: 41

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the match Shane Taylor had his hand raised by the referee, but things were about to heat up in a hurry. Jay Briscoe shot right into the ring to come to the aid of his brother, who was struggling to get back to his feet after the low blow and finisher from Taylor. Keith Lee also shot into the ring and started questioning his partner about what he just did to earn the victory. Lee could be heard saying that Taylor didn’t need to do things like that to come out victorious.

Ian Riccaboni

It’s only been a week and it seems like we may already have dissension between the PBK! Keith Lee doesn’t seem to be too big of a fan of Taylor’s tactics in that match. And uh-oh, looks like business is about to pick up. The Briscoes have some questions for Taylor and Lee.

Mark and Jay Briscoe quickly get into the faces of The PBK, and Lee tries to explain talk down the World Tag Team Champions, but it’s quickly apparent that they aren’t going to listen to it. The fists start flying as Mark tries to jump past Lee to get his hands on Taylor, and Lee tries to keep him from reaching his partner. This just makes things worse though and before long all four men are exchanging haymakers in the middle of the ring. Security and other wrestlers quickly make their way down to the ring to separate the men, and it takes several waves to be able to pull them apart. The crowd wants to see them fight, and it's clear that in the weeks leading up to 20th Anniversary there is going to be a bumpy road between the four men.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The camera goes backstage where World Heavyweight Champion Jonthan Gresham is standing by with his championship draped over his shoulder.

Jonathan Gresham

If you’ve been watching the show tonight you are getting a clear picture of how The Narrative operates. You saw how their charter female member, Mia Yim couldn’t get things done on her own and had The Titan step in so that she could earn a championship match. What gets me is that EC3 made it through five men to earn his opportunity, and now that he has that opportunity he’s started taking shortcuts and surrounding himself with people who he thinks will help him get what he wants. He talks about being cast aside from his previous company and how they misused him. Well at 20th Anniversary he gets the chance to prove that. I’m afraid that he’s going to find out though that he wasn’t misused, he just doesn’t have what it takes to make it here, there or anywhere. EC3, you’ve never went one on one with a real wrestler like me. I’m not here to tell a story or to sell any t-shirts. I’m the Ring of Honor World Champion, and I’m going to stretch you until you scream, and this time next month you’ll be running to another promotion crying about how Jonthan Gresham chewed you up and spit you out, and you’ll still call me World Champion.

Main Event

Ring of Honor Television Championship

Samuray del Sol © vs. Rey Horus

This championship match is a long time coming from Rey Horus. He looked to get the most of this chance as they don’t come along very often. Samuray del Sol has quickly climbed the ranks of Ring of Honor though and he wasn’t looking to hand over the title in his first defense of it. The crowd didn’t have a clear favorite in this main event matchup, but they were very appreciative of the action the two great luchadors were providing them from the opening bell. After they sized each other up a bit Horus showed that he has a slight advantage in speed and technical ability, and he used this to roll up the champion several times and get close to winning the championship with a quick fall. That wasn’t to be though as Samuray is also a world class wrestler and he fought back, and turned the match more from a chain wrestling affair to connecting on some kicks that echoed throughout the arena. Several minutes into the match he forced Horus to the outside, then the crowd got to their feet as he rebounded off the ropes and hit a somersault plancha that gave him a substantial advantage at that point.

The crowd was buzzing with all this fast paced action as the two men fought a little on the outside before heading back into the ring where Samuray pressed his advantage and tried several pinfalls to retain his title, but Horus wouldn’t stay down as a big gasp happened everytime the referee almost reached three in his count. Samuray thought he had finished things when he hit a big moonsault on Horus, but again it was only a two count. He then motioned that it was time to finish things off and he went for the Salida del Sol, but Horus hit a breathtaking reverse hurricanrana on the champion, spiking his head right into the mat. Horus then wasted no time and headed to the top, then flew through the air and hit the 450 splash, and three seconds later Ring of Honor had a new Television Champion.

Thank you, I appreciate the comment! I’ve enjoyed writing Johnny’s story. It’s fun to mix in a little mystery with the action. I’ll have some more shows up later this week, me, my wife and daughters are all getting through a fun little bout with stomach flu, so don’t worry if I don’t post for a few days. Really enjoying doing my first diary in something like 10 years and getting back in the swing of things.

Ring of Honor Signs Lucha Royalty

When Danhausen took over control of Ring of Honor he made it known that he wanted to put some special attention into the tag division and the women’s division to give the fans of ROH a more balanced product to enjoy. Today marks a big step towards that as Ring of Honor has formally announced the signing of Taya Valkarie. Valkyrie made her name wrestling for AAA in Mexico, where she was very successful before turning her sights on America, where she was a big part of Lucha Underground with husband John Hennigan. She then moved to Impact Wrestling where she dominated the competition there before a short stay with WWE’s NXT brand. She is a name known around the wrestling world and will give the growing women’s division another name to reckon with. Our own Ian Riccaboni was able to get a few words with her as she inked her ROH contract.

Ian Riccaboni

Taya, congratulations on signing your contract to compete here in Ring of Honor. It’s a big day for you, but it’s also a big day for our women’s division.

Taya Valkarie

Thanks Ian! I’m happy to be coming here to Ring of Honor. As most of you know it’s been a rough time for me lately. I had my dream job and it was yanked out from under me before I could even get going. That is not a representation of who I am at all. I am the hardest working woman in wrestling today, and soon the women of Ring of Honor are going to find that out first hand. I’ve got a legacy I have placed down before me, and I’m going to live up to that legacy. The women’s division here is fantastic with names like Mia Yim, Athena and the Women’s Champion Rok-C. But as soon as I step foot in that ring, it’s all going to change. I’ve got a point to prove to myself and all my fans, and that makes me a very dangerous woman.

Ian Riccaboni

There you have it fans, Taya Valkarie! Look for her to make her ROH debut in the coming weeks of Ring of Honor Wrestling!

Around the World of Wrestling

February Week 4, 2022

Wednesday

It was a slow week in wrestling, the first one in quite some time. The only notable event to take place was another great episode of AEW Dynamite. The company keeps turning out fantastic shows. This one saw a 90 rated main event of CM Punk and Hangman Page defeating the team of Andrade and Malachi Black in a tag team cage match. Also in a great triple threat match for the TNT Championship Cody Rhodes successfully defended his title against Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson in an 82 rated match. They have really been taking it to WWE in match ratings, it’ll be interesting to see how it pans out with the two companies at full fledged war with each other.

Ring of Honor Wrestling Preview

Friday, March Week 1, 2022

4PNL4SN.jpg

PBalm9f.jpg vs. LmmYM8i.jpg

Ring of Honor brings in a new month with an exciting edition of television headlined by a Women’s World Championship match! In the number one contenders match last week Mia Yim was able to come out on top of Athena with a little help from her giant friend from The Narrative. The Commisionerhausen allowed the victory to stand so this week Yim gets her title shot against red hot champion Rok-C. The champion has been on a role since winning the title in a tournament months ago, but Mia Yim comes in with EC3 and The Titan in her corner as usual. Athena seems to be Rok-C’s guardian angel as of late, and with her feeling the brunt of The Narrative last week you figure she’ll be standing close by to give the champion some support in her corner. Outside influences aside this promises to be a hard hitting battle between two of the more physical women in wrestling today as they fight for the richest crown ROH has to offer for their women’s division.

NpdrAYN.jpgaoNtwob.jpgoopkHhT.jpg

Speaking of The Narrative, EC3 and The Titan will team up once again this week. They have let it be known that they are going to show Jonthan Gresham and the rest of the roster that plans to stand in their way what they are capable of. The duo to step up this week is The Awakening. This is a team who could have many of the same gripes as EC3 and The Titan about previous stops in their wrestling careers, but instead of complaining about it they go out and attempt to smash the other teams skulls to get their point across. They are very physical, but one has to wonder how physical they can be with a monster like The Titan being led by the brainpower of EC3 facing off with them. Jonathan Gresham, who will be in action against former foe Josh Woods, figures to have a close eye on this match as well. The Narrative will be sure to be watching the World Champion as he heads into battle less than a month before he defends the title against EC3 at 20th Anniversary.

T1GFlgx.jpgXAIrXak.jpg6g7dKI9.jpgVNR7DcA.jpg

With the return of Keith Lee by the side of his partner Shane Taylor in the PBK, things have started to heat up all around the tag team scene in Ring of Honor. For the past two weeks Lee and Taylor have gotten the upper hand on the Tag Team Champions, The Briscoes. Mark and Jay feel like Taylor has been using some tactics that may be giving him unfair advantages and they have taken serious issue with it. Even Taylor’s partner seems to have an issue with Taylor’s cheating ways, but The Briscoes don’t care about that as they have been trying to get their hands on both men that will challenge them for their Tag Team Titles. Danhausen has taken note of this rivalry that is starting to come to a boil and has requested that both teams meet him in the ring to kick of this week’s episode fo ROH Wrestling. Fireworks could be flying early on this week. The tag division will also see other teams in action as Mascara Dorada makes his ROH debut as he teams with old partner and former Television Champion Samuray del Sol to take on The All-Night Express.

Ring of Honor Wrestling

Friday, March Week 1, 2022

Tri State Region

Attendance: 332

51,470 viewers on HonorClub

This week’s program kicks off with Danhausen making his way down to the ring, giving small waves to the fans at ringside as he heads down the ramp. The announcers talk about how the commisionerhausen has had his hands full lately with all the heated rivalries over Ring of Honor’s championships as of late. In this instance he’s out to address what’s going on with the Tag Team Championships as the PBK and The Briscoes seem ready for full out war over the crowns. Danhausen makes it in the ring, and he’s shortly followed by the PBK. Keith Lee seems happy to see the fans, and the fans show him respect as he heads down the ramp. Shane Taylor could care less about them though and they make sure he knows how they feel about him as well. Lastly they are followed out by the Tag Team Champions, Mark and Jay Briscoe, who like always receive a very warm welcome from the crowd. They don’t seem interested in it though as they march right down the ring, ready for another round with the PBK.

Danhausen

Whoa whoa whoa! Danhausen doesn’t want any fighting in the ring right now, you’ll have plenty of time for that later. Broken leg and all you know. Now just so all of you know, Danhausen has made plans for the title match that the PBK earned by Keith Lee’s victory a few weeks ago. At ROH 20th Anniversary in four weeks time The Briscoes will defend their titles against the PBK.

Jay Briscoe

We don’t have to wait until 20th Anniversary, we want us some tonight!

Danhausen

Calm down! Calm down! Danhausen has already made a match for you two tonight. You will team up to take on the very evil friends of the PBK, Kaun and Moses, the Soldiers of Savagery!

Shane Taylor

Hey champs, you are going to have more than you can handle with my proteges Kaun and Moses. I’ve personally trained them on how to take down dem boys, and tonight that’s just what they’ll do.

Mark Briscoe

You must be outside your mind! Tonight we are going to run through them like they aren’t even there, then we are going to come out the other side still ready to get our hands on you!

Shane Taylor

There’s that Briscoe confidence. I like it. If you are so confident why don’t you boys step up to the table. Make the pot a little richer for the SOS. Why not say, put the Tag Team Titles on the line? If you are so sure you are going to beat them there’s no harm in that right? But if you lose the titles to them tonight I don’t want to be hearing nothing about a rematch. At 20th Anniversary the fans will get to see the match they really want, the Soldiers of Savagery defending their hard fought titles against the Pretty Boy Killers in an all-time classic. What do you say?

Danhausen

Whoa! There’s no need for…

The Briscoes

You’re on!

Jonathan Gresham vs. Josh Woods

The ROH World Champion heads into action in this match against an old rival from the ROH Pure division, Josh Woods. These two men have had some fantastic technical showcases throughout the years, and Woods would try to recreate that magic in this match. Gresham was out to prove that he has developed since his pure wrestling days against Woods though and that he has the mean streak to stand up to the challenge of The Narrative. The two would trade lengthy chain wrestling exchanges, but more times than not it was the World Champion who would turn to a quick and vicious strike to break the momentum of Woods and gain an advantage. He stayed on top of Woods for most of the match, showing an impressive mix of his world class technical ability, but with an added dimension of high impact offense that had the announcers very excited that they were seeing the evolution of the champion before their very eyes. He went to lock in his Octopus Stretch to finish Woods off, but instead transitioned out of the hold and delivered a deadly brainbuster before heading to the top, where he came out flying with a Phoenix Splash to put an exclamation point on a very eye opening victory.

After we come back from break the music of Johnny Gargano hits as he marches his way down to the ring. He isn’t going to be waiting for anyone to interview him backstage or for any wrestler to make a statement during his match. With the very curious happenings surrounding him, and him seemingly in the crosshairs of a very dangerous person, Johnny is all business as he grabs the microphone.

Johnny Gargano

Scarlett! I was going to give you the benefit of the doubt. I had seen you as your evil self in previous places, but I also remembered the sweet girl who just wanted to get her foot into the wrestling business from years ago. I told myself maybe now that you faced such hard trials over the past year that maybe you’d decided to go back to that sweet girl that I once knew. That a certain someone’s hold over you may have washed away. Boy was I wrong. I should have seen it coming, that you were still working with him.

Kross! You can quit the mind games. You can quit the mystery. Everybody knows that it’s you behind all this. You aren’t going to get into the head of Johnny Gargano! I’m out here to prove that I’m the best wrestler in the world today. My sole focus is finding an opponent for 20th Anniversary and proving that I deserve a shot at the Ring of Honor World Championship. I know you pride yourself as a great wrestler too, so what do you say you quit hiding behind your mouthpiece there and face me at the pay-per-view?

With this challenge the lights go dim and red as the enchanting Scarlett Bordeaux heads out onto the ramp followed by an eerie smoke. The fans seem entranced with her, not knowing if they should boo her out of the building or give her a standing ovation.

Scarlett Bordeaux

Johnny, who do you think you are calling HIM out? Don’t you know what HE could do to you? HE works on his own time, not the time of some little man who thinks he’s the greatest thing wrestling has ever seen. I suggest you make other plans for 20th Anniversary because he does not acknowledge challenges from the likes of you. When he wants to make his presence known, it will be known. You will not know the time! You will not no the place! All you will know will be PAIN!

The All-Night Express vs. Mascara Dorada and Samuray del Sol

The crowd gave a very nice ovation for the debut of Mascara Dorada, who was teaming up with old Lucha House Party partner Samuray del Sol for his first match in Ring of Honor. Samuray is looking to bounce back after losing his Television Championship to Rey Horus last week. The fan favorites would team up to take on The All-Night Express, who while they have had lots of success in Ring of Honor in the past, have fallen on hard times as of late. That didn’t stop them from trying to spoil the big debut though as they came out swinging. Rhett Titus looked to get revenge on Samuray del Sol for taking his Television Title at the pay-per-view last month and he seemed very motivated to prove himself in this one. The All-Night Express tried a fast paced offense to match the pace of Dorada and Samuray, but there was no keeping up with the luchadors, especially Dorada as he looked very excited to show the American audience what he can do with the restraints off. Rhett Titus decided it was time to press his luck and he went for an all or nothing move on Dorada and came up empty. This allowed the debuting luchador to hit the Dorada Screwdriver on Titus to get a very impressive pinfall victory in this big tag team match.

The Awakening vs. The Narrative

After seeing Jonathan Gresham be so successful in his match to start the night, EC3 came out even more motivated than usual to prove that he is better than the World Champion. Usually he lets The Titan take care of the majority of the work for him, but to his credit he took the fight to both Vik and Big Kon in this match. He showed how his hard work is paying off as he used his power to his advantage to take it to both men, but that proved to not be the best idea as they were able to use their years of experience together to chop him down and isolate him from his gigantic partner. EC3 tried very hard to break free of that half of the ring, but he had a hard time doing so as Kon and Vik wrestled a very methodical match. That all changed though when EC3 lept and connected with both of them on a dropkick. He was able to scramble to his corner, then the train came streaming down the tracks. The Titan entered the ring with a head of steam and absolutely destroyed both members of The Awawkening. He was throwing haymakers and big boots to both men. Big Kon tried to match him power for power, but that wasn’t going to work as he grabbed him around the neck and dropped him with a giant chokeslam. He then turned his attention to the legal man, Vik. He hoisted him up and dropped him with a huge powerslam. He then went for the chokeslam, but EC3 yelled from the apron that he wanted to finish him off. The Titan shrugged and tagged his partner, who came in and immediately hit the One Percenter on the groggy Vik and pinned him for an easy three count.

After the match The Titan dispatches of Vik out of the ring and grabs a microphone from ringside to give to EC3, who has something to say after that impressive victory for The Narrative

EC3

Gresham I hope you were watching! That’s what you are up against at 20th Anniversary. You’ve served Ring of Honor as a very serviceable champion since the new era started in Ring of Honor. But the new era didn’t start with our new ownership, it started when The Narrative decided that we wanted to take this place over and make it our own. The domination you just saw in the ring is a precursor of things to come. Anybody who would dare to oppose The Narrative will have their story written, and it will be one of utter defeat. Gresham, you just aren’t stepping into the ring to defend your title against a world class athlete in EC3, you are stepping in there against a movement. We control the narrative around here, and how we see it, it’s time for the World Championship to be around the waist of EC3!

Brody King vs. Mike Bennett

This match features two men who’s momentum is going in opposite directions. Brody King has been on a role since returning and turning back the challenge of Joe Hennig, while Mike Bennett saw flashes of hope, but since his partner Matt Taven and wife Maria have left Ring of Honor she seems to be stuck in neutral. He looked to get things in gear against King, but that’s much easier said than done against a man like King. Bennett, while he looked good on offense, wasn’t able to get much of that offense going. He would gain a small advantage but King would turn it right back in his favor and have the former OGK member in a very painful hold that he struggled to escape from. Bennett had one last glimpse of hope and he went to the top rope, but King quickly shot to his feet and met him there with a huge forearm to stagger him on top. He then got him on his shoulders and hit the All Seeing Eye to put himself in the victor’s circle again.

After the match King looked very pleased with himself as Bennett was left laying on the mat rubbing the back of his neck after taking King’s vicious finisher. He shouted at the fans that there isn’t anybody in Ring of Honor that can stop him. Bennett slowly rose to his feet to a polite applause from the crowd, grateful for the effort that he put out for them, and also feeling bad that he’s been left alone by his friends and family in ROH. He slowly went to King with one hand on his neck and offered a post match handshake to the victor. King wanted no part of it though and leveled Bennett with a vicious forearm. He then started to take him up for another All Seeing Eye when the calvary arrived from the back.

Ian Riccaboni

It’s Bandido! He’s seen enough of Brody King’s bully tactics! We are going to see some fireworks here!

Bandido hit the ring at full charge. King saw this coming and dropped Bennett to the mat and braced for a showdown with the former World Champion. The two met in the middle of the ring and Bandido quickly took him down by the legs then started raining rights to King. King was able to parry most of them, then flipped Bandido over and starting landing haymakers of his own. The two brawled up to their feet and were throwing punches while upright. Bandido had King pushed back against the ropes when he took a step back and unloaded a big clothesline, sending King toppling over the top rope to the floor below. The crowd gave a roar of approval as Bandido was yelling threats in Spanish at King, who was back peddling up the ramp, looking none too pleased that Bandido put his nose in his business.

Ring of Honor Women’s World Championship

Rok-C © vs. Mia Yim

Many fans and wrestlers alike are claiming that Mia Yim doesn’t deserve this title match, but she got it nonetheless. She was accompanied to the ring as usual by EC3 and The Titan. Rok-C countered by having Athena at her side. The action started slow with the women not wanting to make the first mistake as the three on the outside urged their prospective picks on. Eventually the feeling out process had to come to an end and Rok-C went for a big move, which Yim quickly countered into a pinfall attempt, which only came to a two count. Many thought Yim would have a big advantage in this match, but Rok-C showed skills beyond her years as she hung right in there with the veteran and the two looked very evenly matched throughout a match that the fans enjoyed very much. There were several near falls on each side, and it was very hard to tell who was going to come out on top. The Narrative realized this and their plan went into action. EC3 started jawing the referee, which saw The Titan get on the apron, much like last week’s match with Athena. She wasn’t going to let this go easy though and she quickly showed no fear and launched herself straight at him. He was caught off guard and caught her, then sat her on the floor looking unimpressed with her antics. This distraction had Mia Yim off guard when Rok-C snuck up behind her and rolled her up and got the three count to retain her championship.

After the match Mia Yim was absolutely furious as she quickly starting laying the boots to the champion. Rok-C struggled to defend herself as Yim was a storm of hands and feet, angry that she had just squandered her first title chance in Ring of Honor. It didn’t take long for Athena to notice what was happening in the ring though and she shook free of EC3 and The Titan to slide in the ring and pull Yim off of Rok-C. They then started brawling in the ring as Athena was clearly getting the upper hand on Yim, looking for payback for her defeat the week before. This was short lived though when EC3 and The Titan hit the ring and pulled Yim out of harm’s way and stood between her and the other two women. This was all broken up though with some new music hitting on the ramp and the appearance of a new signee to Ring of Honor that brought the action in the ring to a standstill.

The Briscoes and the Soldiers of Savagery are no strangers to each other, but the stakes are turned way up in this main event. With the emergence of the PBK, the Soldiers of Savagery are part of a group that features two dominant teams, and they look to knock The Briscoes off their thrones and face each other at the pay-per-view. One would think that having their titles and match with Lee and Taylor hanging in the balance the champions would fight a cautious match, but that’s not The Briscoes style whatsoever. They came out of the gate flying, which seemed to catch Kaun and Moses off guard as they never were able to get any footing in this huge opportunity. The Briscoes showed why they are an all time great team as they come up big when it matters. While the Soldiers showed their physicality and connect on some big moves, it never felt like The Briscoes were in serious danger of not coming out of this match on the winning end. That feeling was correct as after some great tandem offense they were able to connect on a Spike Jay Driller on Kaun to retain their championships. The show then went off the air with The Briscoes holding their titles up high as Keith Lee and Shane Taylor looked on knowing they would go to war with The Briscoes at 20th Anniversary.

Around the World of Wrestling

March Week 1, 2022

Tuesday

Ring of Honor legend and multiple time World Champion Jay Lethal found a new home with All Elite Wrestling after the shuffle up in ROH around the end of 2021. That run has already hit a speed bump as Lethal suffered a torn ab muscle while competing for the company. He is expected to miss several months of action. Danhausen went the extra mile and sent Lethal a clearance box of Valentine’s chocolate from Walgreens that no one wanted. He also gave him a personally made half off coupon to a Cameo from Danhausen.

Mickie James continues to collect titles around the wrestling world as she claimed the NWA Women’s Championship on NWA Powerrr this week. She already holds the Impact Women’s Championship, and her collection doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. James is currently in one of the best runs of her career as she looks to bring respect to women’s wrestling around the country. As Ring of Honor and her home promotion of the National Wrestling Alliance have very warm relations and have shared workers in the past you have to wonder if James will ever set her sights on the ROH Women’s World Championship.

Sunday

All Elite Wrestling continues their hot run with their annual Revolution pay-per-view, which was held at one of the former sights of WWE’s Thunderdome, Tropicana Field. The promotion brought out an impressive 25,000 people to the event and they were treated to a great main event for the AEW World Championship that saw Hangman Page defeat MJF to retain the title in a 79 rated match. The match of the night was once again for the TNT Championship as Cody Rhodes defeated Jon Moxley and CM Punk in a triple threat to keep his title in a match rated at 88. We had a fun watch party for the event and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Conan even came and watched it with us. He said a guy like Tony Khan can run a flashy promotion but he’d never be like him and buy a company like ROH.

Ring of Honor Wrestling Preview

Friday, March Week 2, 2022

5wd5fYP.jpg vs. aoNtwob.jpg

This week’s edition of Ring of Honor is packed full of great matches once again. The main event will see The Narrative’s big man, The Titan go into singles action against Joe Hennig. Ever since being unveiled by EC3 at Survival of the Fittest, The Titan has absolutely obliterated anybody who has gotten into his path in Ring of Honor. With EC3 leading this monster he seems to be more dangerous than ever. Joe Hennig, who has done very well for himself since coming to Ring of Honor looks to have a huge mountain to climb in this one, and if he wants to end up in championship contention these are the types of matches he needs to show up strong too. World Champion Jonathan Gresham will also likely be looking on with interest as EC3 and The Titan have been around the corner at every opportunity heading into EC3’s title match at 20th Anniversary in a few weeks.

jiBkBN7.jpg vs. LmmYM8i.jpg vs. QVI9Lor.jpg

After defending her championship last week against Mia Yim, the Women’s World Champion Rok-C will head into 20th Anniversary to defend the title once again. The question is who she will be facing. That will be answered on this week’s episode of ROH TV. After the shenanigans of the title match last week Mia Yim and Athena will once again do battle, but now that Taya Valkyrie has debuted and made her intentions known Danhausen has added her to this number one contender’s match. All three women would give Rok-C a run for her money at the pay-per-view, it’ll be exciting to see which women is able to put all the outside noise surrounding this match to the side and step up for a great opportunity. One thing is for sure, the Ring of Honor women’s division is really starting to heat up.

WxDHxY1.jpg

In other action the new Television Champion Rey Horus will be in non-title action as he faces off with longtime rival Dragon Lee. The two men have gained a great following around the world and look to put on another great match that the ROH fans have come to appreciate. Since Samuray del Sol unseated Rhett Titus for the Television Championship back in January the title scene has a very distinct lucha feel about it and that great trend will continue this week. Johnny Gargano will also be in action once again, this week taking on Rocky Romero in what promises to be a very fast paced, hard hitting matchup. Gargano has been plagued by distractions from Scarlet Bordeaux in the past month, and Gargano is convinced he knows who’s behind it. Scarlet says that Gargano will get an answer whenever they feel the time is right. Could this be the week? Other matches include the Breezus and Dalton Castle taking on the number one contenders, the PBK, and in six man action Bandido, Samuray del Sol and Mascara Dorada will take on Demonic Flamita, Flip Gordon and Tony Deppen.

Ring of Honor Wrestling

Friday, March Week 2, 2022

Mid Atlantic Region

Attendance: 277

54,307 viewers on HonorClub

This week’s edition of Ring of Honor starts off in the locker room area of The Narrative. EC3 is giving a pep talk to both The Titan and Athena who will be in action later tonight.

EC3

Alright guys, big night for us here. We’ve made sure all the fans and the rest of the roster know who we are and why it is we are doing what we’re doing. They all know if they stand in our way that they are going to fall by the wayside. Now is our time to show our worth. Now is our time to show that we control our own narratives. And by hook or by crook we are going to control the narrative of all of Ring of Honor. Titan, think back to not too long ago. You were the apple of the wrestling world’s eye. You had a rocket strapped to your back and it seemed like the sky was the limit. Until they decided for you that it wasn’t. Now is the time to show them the monster unchained. Show them that they’ve made a massive mistake and that you are more dominant than ever. Mia, they never even gave you a chance. You proved yourself all over the world and what did they do to you? They threw you under a mask and made you downplay your abilities. You don’t have to be hidden under a mask anymore. You are one of the baddest women in the game, and tonight you will show them why. You are going to take down those other two women and like me, you are going to claim your crown at the 20th Anniversary. Tonight we remind the world that this is our story, and only we control what happens in it!

Dragon Lee vs. Rey Horus

The in-ring competition this week got kicked off with some high octane action as Television Champion Rey Horus faces off with Dragon Lee in a non title match. Horus has been riding a high since beating Samuray del Sol for the championship a few weeks ago, and he carried that momentum off to a great start against the very talented Dragon Lee in this match. The two men used their signature mixtures of speed, aerial ability and technical prowess to put on a show that few around the world can match, and the fans cheered for both competitors as they fought tooth and nail for a victory. Lee fought as though the title was on the line and got several near falls on Horus, but each of them came up short for most of the match. Horus was able to gain control near the end of the match and went for a big moonsault on Lee, but he was able to get his knees up. When Horus came to Dragon Lee met him with the Desnucadora in the middle of the ring to get a huge non title victory over the Television Champion and possibly earn himself a title shot down the road.

Winner: Dragon Lee

Breezus and Dalton Castle vs. The PBK

Breezus and Castle seemed like a match made in heaven when they started teaming up, but it’s become clear that the two eccentric superstars suffer from a serious lack of chemistry when they pair up as a team. That definitely showed against a duo as dominating as the number one contenders to the Tag Team Championships, Keith Lee and Shane Taylor. Breezus and Castle’s timing was all over the place and they struggled to keep one man in their corner, allowing Lee and Taylor to make tags whenever they needed. This lead to a surprisingly weak resistance from Breezus and Castle, and a fairly quick ending when Keith Lee hit a thunderous Spirit Bomb on Breezus to pick up the three count and roll more momentum into their title match with The Briscoes at 20th Anniversary.

Winners: The PBK

Time: 10:44

Rating: 55

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the match Breezus was slow to get to his feet and Dalton Castle wasted no time to get into his partner's face and ask him what was up with that effort. Breezus shared the same sentiments with Castle, as they both looked dumbfounded as to how things could go sour for a team that seemed to be a dream team on paper. Both men didn’t have any answers for why their team was struggling, but it was very obvious that neither man was happy with how that last match transpired as they headed to the back.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Johnny Gargano vs. Rocky Romero

Much like tonight’s opening contest, this one featured some very fast paced, yet technical action. Both men looked very crisp as they went all out to try to grab a victory, and Gargano was met at every turn by the veteran Romero seemingly knowing what was coming next. He reversed several moves that Johnny has been really successful with in past weeks, which seemed to have Gargano thrown off his game. Gargano was also looking over his shoulder the whole time expecting some sort of interruption from Scarlet or whoever she’s leading into Ring of Honor to demolish him. That never came to fruition as Gargano was able to settle in and grab a lasting advantage eventually on Romero. He ending came after a huge knee strike took Romero to the mat, where Johnny locked in the Gargano Escape, forcing Romero to tap out.

Winner: Johnny Gargano

Time: 17:53

Rating: 57

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the match Gargano didn’t spend much time celebrating as he went right after the microphone ready to address what’s been happening to him in recent weeks.

Johnny Gargano

Scarlet! You say that Kross will make his appearance and fight me whenever he wants. I don’t care what he wants! I care what I want! What I want, and what all these people want is for him to stop hiding behind all the smoke and mirrors and face me at 20th Anniversary! He says he’s going to paint the mat red with my blood. What’s he waiting for? I’m right here!

With this many fans expected Scarlet to make her entrance, but instead it was Danhausen who came out and stood on the ramp to interject in this situation.

Danhausen

Ah yes Johnny, I can see where you’d be very angry that someone is playing very evil mind games with you so to say. Danhausen gets it, you want to rip whoever is behind this’s head off. But you say that it’s Kross behind all this. Danhausen hasn’t signed anybody named Kross to a contract so unfortunately you won’t be able to face him at 20th Anniversary because he isn’t a part of the roster for me to put in a match. What I have done is put out a notice that since this is our Anniversary show that any former Ring of Honor great that wants to put their name on a match with you will earn a Ring of Honor contract. Danhausen expects some great wrestlers to bite at this opportunity, and Danhausen will have an answer for you next week!

Bandido, Mascara Dorada and Samuray del Sol vs. Demonic Flamita, Flip Gordon and Tony Deppen

The theme of the night to this point has been the fast paced action that Ring of Honor fans have come to love, and they got a big dose of it in this match. While all six men put on great performances it was clear to those watching that Bandido and Mascara Dorada were out there putting on performances that outshined the other men in the match. They both looked like ring generals out there, and they led their team in a very convincing manner against their opponents. Dorada and Samuray showed off some of their great tandem offense, which would set up Bandido to hit a high impact move that would leave the fans awed. The match saw a very impressive finish as Samuray connected on the Salita del Sol, followed by a rope walk splash from Dorada, then a beautiful 450 splash from Bandido onto Flip Gordon to give his team the victory.

Winners: Bandido, Mascara Dorada and Samuray del Sol

Number One Contender’s Match for the Women’s World Championship

Athena vs. Mia Yim vs. Taya Valkyrie

This match has major implications as the winner will go onto the 20th Anniversary show in a few weeks to take on Women’s World Champion Rok-C. The women’s division has been heating up, and it started to boil up in this match. Athena and Yim have developed some serious bad blood in the past few weeks, and they went right at each other right out of the gate. This is Valkyrie’s in-ring debut though and she wasn’t able to be overlooked as she cannonballed in and took both women out in one move. She then showed the ROH audience what she can do as she controlled the action for a good period of time, hitting a series of moves on one woman before turning her focus on the other. Eventually this was unsustainable though as it eventually turned into a proper three way brawl with all three women not caring who they took out as long as they were hitting some offense. A lightning quick finish came as Mia Yim hit Valkyrie with a superkick that echoed throughout the arena, sending Taya to the outside. As Yim was talking trash to Taya she didn’t realize that Athena was perched on the top rope, and when she turned around she was met with the Eclipse, and three seconds later Athena had punched her ticket to the title match at 20th Anniversary against her fellow Booker T trainee, Rok-C.

Winner and Number One Contender: Athena

Time: 15:58

Rating: 54

Joe Hennig vs. The Titan

After seeing his Narrative teammate Mia Yim fail to earn a title match at 20th Anniversary The Titan came out even more focused that he normally would be. That meant a heap of trouble for Hennig, who to his credit used his brain a lot more than most men in this situation do. Instead of trying to meet the train headfirst on the tracks Hennig used a strike and avoid strategy. He didn’t hit many high impact moves on The Titan, but he didn’t stick around long enough to get swatted down by him for awhile either. Eventually like most plans, it blew up the first time Hennig got hit in the mouth. The Titan got a small opening then exploded through it, spelling doom for Hennig. Hennig tried his Perfect-Plex on Titan, but it wasn’t happening and Titan threw him half way across the ring in retaliation. After some vicious clotheslines and shoulder blocks he locked Henning around the throat, then delivered a chokeslam to earn another victory.

Winner: The Titan

Time: 14:40

Rating: 60

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the match EC3 made his way out on the ramp to give a round of applause to The Titan, who he trusted to come down to the ring on his own and take care of action in this match. Just as EC3 had a triumphant look on his face it turned to sheer panic as the World Champion Jonathan Gresham snuck up behind him and locked him in a dragon sleeper.

Ian Riccaboni

It’s the champion! He’s had enough of all the nonsense that EC3 has been spewing! He’s going to choke him out!

Gresham knelt down with the dragon sleeper locked in deep on EC3, who was struggling to try to escape, but was having no luck. The crowd was going crazy, and The Titan who was busy talking trash to a downed Hennig was too busy to notice that his leader was having the life choked out of him on the stage. Gresham let out a roar as he pulled back on the move, causing The Titan to finally notice what was happening and quickly step over the top rope and try to come to the rescue of EC3. Gresham gave him a big grin as he released the hold and stepped back behind the curtain, and the final scene we see is The Titan scrambling to assist EC3 and he looked like a fish out of water after the surprise attack from the champion who’d had enough.

Final Rating: 60

Around the World of Wrestling

March Week 2, 2022

Wednesday

AEW keeps putting on great shows, but they come at the expense of several injuries in the last few months. Tonight was a bad one as Wheeler YUTA suffered a herniated disc during a Dynamite match. He is expected to have major surgery and will likely miss over a year of action. YUTA is a bright up and comer in the wrestling landscape and it hurts to see an injury of this magnitude to someone starting to come into their own in the ring.

Thursday

Elite no more! AEW has made the decision many thought would never happen as Kenny Omega, Matt and Nick Jackson have all left The Elite stable. They will all stay a part of the AEW roster but will go their separate ways when it comes to teaming up in the promotion. Danhausen was shocked as he loves watching Being the Elite, and has even been featured on the show before. He has already been in touch with Tony Khan pitching ideas where he can come in and take over the Elite. Needless to say Tony didn’t think it would work out.

Saturday

Impact Wrestling held it’s Sacrifice pay-per-view to rather mixed reviews. The show was rated a 50, which was surprising for the promotion as they have put on quality shows as of late and this is one of their bigger shows of the year. The main event saw Matt Cardona win the X-Division Championship over Trey Miguel in a match rated at a 58. Danhausen said he’s glad we don’t have Impact pay-per-view watch parties because he’d rather see Zack Ryder get pushed off a stage in a wheelchair by Kane than watch Matt Cardona win the X-Division Championship.

Ring of Honor Wrestling Preview

Friday, March Week 3, 2022

34qvWqt.jpg vs. oopkHhT.jpg

The main event of Ring of Honor Wrestling this week features the World Champion Jonathan Gresham in tough competition just over a week away from his title defense against EC3 when he takes on Breezus. Gresham knows what a great competitor Breezus is and is ready for a fight. Breezus on the other hand has been a part of a new team with Dalton Castle that already seems like it’s hitting the skids. The two men seem to have no chemistry and they are arguing after losses, definitely not good signs. Gresham will look to capitalize on this strife in Breezus’ career and send a message to EC3 after choking him out to end last week’s episode. Dalton Castle will also be in action Friday against Mascara Dorada, will the duo be more successful this week than they’ve been in recent weeks together?

jiBkBN7.jpgPBalm9f.jpg vs. LmmYM8i.jpgQVI9Lor.jpg

Before the big Rok-C versus Athena Women’s World Championship match at 20th Anniversary takes place the two women will see if they can team up as they take on Mia Yim and Taya Valkyrie. There are definite fireworks ready to go off in this match as neither team really sees eye to eye. While Rok-C and Athena were both trained by Booker T and have had each other’s backs in recent weeks, they will be fighting over the championship in a little over a week so you know they’ll have eyes in the back of their heads. Yim and Valkyrie don’t really see eye to eye either, as Yim doesn’t see eye to eye with many people since joining up with EC3 and The Titan last month. The winner will likely come with whatever team works better together.

bU7IrZL.jpgyIbWGCp.jpgnMlvqzd.jpg

Johnny Gargano has been calling out Scarlett Bordeaux and whoever she is representing in recent weeks after they have tormented Gargano for the past month and a half. Gargano says he knows the threat is coming from Killer Kross and is confused as to why he’s nowhere to be found, and is challenging him for a match at 20th Anniversary. Scarlett won’t confirm who she’s working with even though common sense says that Kross has something to do with it. All she says is whoever he is will be coming after Gargano when he sees fit. Danhausen’s hands were tied in this one as he can’t put someone in a match who doesn’t have a contract. So the Commisionerhausen has promised Gargano that he’ll find him an opponent who has a past in Ring of Honor to face him at the pay-per-view and has revealed that he’ll announce the opponent to Gargano in person this week.

GkrDHdy.jpg vs. nfsnejv.jpg

The Television Championship picture is heating up with Dragon Lee earning a victory over the champion Rey Horus last week. Danhausen has announced that Dragon Lee has indeed earned a title opportunity at 20th Anniversary, but the matchup might not be a simple one on one encounter. This week Dragon Lee will be in action again, this time against former World Champion Bandido. If Bandido is victorious he will be added to the championship match at 20th Anniversary and it will become a triple threat match. Will Bandido come out on top and look to add more gold to his resume or will Dragon Lee be able to make sure he gets a one-on-one match with the champion?

Ring of Honor Wrestling

Friday, March Week 3, 2022

Mid Atlantic Region

Attendance: 250 (Sell-Out!)

50,466 viewers on HonorClub

This week’s episode of Ring of Honor Wrestling kicks off with Johnny Gargano making his entrance and his way down to the ring. Instead of the normal jovial Gargano he means business as he heads straight down the ramp and into the ring where he requested a microphone right away. The announcers recapped all the issues that Gargano has had with his mystery agitator and Scarlett Bordeaux in recent weeks, and they question if Gargano has reached his breaking point with the situation.

Johnny Gargano

Scarlett, Kross, I’m giving both of you one more chance. 20th Anniversary is only 8 days away. I know that Danhausen says that you aren’t a part of the roster, but I know that it’s you behind all this. You’ve always hated me and are carrying that hatred to Ring of Honor. If you quit hiding behind whatever Scarlett is to you and come out and face me like a man Danhausen won’t have any choice but to book the match for the pay-per-view. It’s what I want, it’s what the fans want, and apparently it’s what you want. So if you have any guts you’ll come out here right now and accept my challenge.

Music hits in the arena, but it’s not Scarlett. The Commissionerhausen’s music hits, and he gets some of the first boos he’s heard in some time. The boos aren’t really focused at him, but at the frustration that Gargano seemingly isn’t going to get what he wants. Danhausen has a portfolio with him as he walks down to the ring towards Johnny, who doesn’t look pleased that the man he wants isn’t heading out to the ring. Danhausen gets in the ring next to Johnny and starts to address the situation.

Danhausen

Ah yes Johnny Wrestling, Danhausen knows that you want to fight whoever has been tormenting you for the past month, but without them showing their face or making it known who they are Danhausen’s hands are tied. Danhausen has great responsibility to put on the best match possible at 20th Anniversary, we have a company to run here and Danhausen needs to make the most monies possible from it. So like Danhausen said last week, keeping with the theme of our anniversary show, any former Ring of Honor star that would like to make a comeback is welcome to come wrestle Johnny Gargano at the pay-per-view, and for stepping up Danhausen will present them a new ROH contract, which I have in my hand. So who’s it going to be?

Danhausen and Johnny sit back and wait for somebody to appear on the entrance ramp, but after waiting several seconds the challenger doesn’t appear before them on the ramp. The answer comes from behind in a rage with a vicious elbow to the back of Gargano’s head.

FbaMaRS.jpg

Ian Riccaboni

Oh my god it’s Chris Hero! He’s returned to Ring of Honor and he just laid out Johnny Gargano with a nasty blindside attack! He’s grabbed the contract from Danhausen and he’s putting his name on the dotted line. Chris Hero is a part of Ring of Honor once again, and it seems that next Saturday we are going to be seeing Johnny Gargano vs. Chris Hero in a ROH ring!

If Bandido wins he is added to the Television Championship match at 20th Anniversary

Bandido vs. Dragon Lee

This match has very high stakes for both men. Dragon Lee recently earned his title match at the pay-per-view against Rey Horus for the Television Championship by beating the champion in the middle of the ring. He wants this match to stay one-on-one as adding Bandido to it will see one of the most talented wrestlers in the world added to the mix and greatly lower his chances to leave 20th Anniversary the champion. Bandido tried to wrestle at a frenetic pace, wanting to catch Lee off guard and punch his ticket to the title match, but Dragon Lee used a different tactic as he was seemingly wrestling a defensive matchup, trying not to lose. This went back and forth for quite some time before Bandido started to get a clear advantage in the matchup. It seemed he wasn’t far off from coming out on top when out of nowhere Brody King appeared at ringside. This distraction got Bandido’s attention, which allowed Dragon Lee to get on the former World Champion’s shoulders, where he performed a victory roll and got the three count to keep his title match a singles affair, with much of the credit going to Brody King.

Winner: Dragon Lee

Time: 16:53

Rating: 60

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the match Bandido started to get to his feet but he was cut off by a charging Brody King, who overpowered him and put him back down on the mat after his grueling match. King started laying in the boots strong to the luchador, who had no answer for the onslaught coming from King. The attack continued for a short time before King forced Bandido up and delivered the All Seeing Eye, putting a very impactful exclamation point on this attack. He then grabbed a microphone to explain his actions.

Brody King

An eye for an eye! Bandido, a few weeks ago you wanted to stick your nose in my business with Mike Bennett. I don’t appreciate people getting into business that has nothing to do with them. So guess what? Tonight you paid the first part of your penance. I will extract the rest out of you in the form of blood at 20th Anniversary! I’ll see you there Bandido!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When we come back to commercial we go backstage where Quinn McKay is standing by with The Narrative

Quinn McKay

I’m here with EC3, The Titan and Mia Yim, The Narrative. Now EC3, last week we saw you attempt to hype up your team, but two out of the three of you seemed to have a very tough night. While The Titan was very successful in his match with Joe Henning, Mia Yim lost in her chance for a title opportunity, and you were choked out by World Champion Jonathan Gresham at the end of the show. What do you have to say after this tough night for your group.

EC3

Quinn, you’ll notice that the only way that Jonathan Gresham could get to me is from behind, tactics that we’d never stoop to. I was out there to congratulate my partner Titan here on a job well done, like I knew he’d do, when I was viciously attacked by a champion with no honor. He knows that the only chance he has against me is to cheat wherever he can. When we come to our title match at 20th Anniversary this mountain of a man standing next to me will make sure that Gresham can’t pull any of his shenanigans. As for Mia Yim, she was placed in an unfair triple threat match for a title opportunity that she should have already had in her possession. And what does Athena do to earn that title match? She blindsided Mia with the Eclipse to send herself to a title match. Do you sense a theme here Quinn? The Ring of Honor roster is scared of us. They know who really controls things around here, and they are doing what they can to try to stop us. The resistance is futile. They don’t write the narrative around here, we do. And the story goes, in eight days, EC3 is the new Ring of Honor World Champion.

Athena and Rok-C vs. Mia Yim and Taya Valkyrie

This tag team match featured teams who don’t want to be tagging together heading into the pay-per-view in eight days. Athena and Rok-C will face off for the title, and while they have a similar wrestling upbringing, they will be facing off for the Women’s World Championship at 20th Anniversary. Mia Yim and Taya Valkyrie also fought tooth and nail in the number one contenders match last week, and their war of words will not likely end there. The four women weren’t shy as they were unloading offense on each other, but even though she’s the World Champion it seemed like Rok-C was trying to prove herself against the three veterans in the ring with her. While both teams were able to work together the majority of the match, the wheels started to fall off for both sides. Yim and Valkyrie couldn’t stop arguing, while Rok-C didn’t want to tag Athena in as she tried to prove herself. The finish came when Mia Yim showed her true colors and stepped away from a tag attempt from Taya, who looked furious as she was left on her own. The inevitable came as Rok-C met her when she turned around and was met by The Prodigy falcon arrow from the champion and a three count.

Winners: Rok-C and Athena

Time: 15:25

Rating: 54

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the match Rok-C didn’t waste any time as he grabbed her championship and stormed right up in Athena’s face, shouting do you see that at her challenger for the championship. The champion was very animated as Athena stood toe to toe with her and just grinned as Rok-C wanted to prove that she’s every bit as good as Athena. With many people saying that Athena has a huge upper hand going into their battle at 20th Anniversary it seems like the chatter has started to get under the champions skin. She finally stopped talking and held her title in the air as the women came nose to nose in a very tense faceoff before their championship showdown in just eight days.

The Awakening vs. The Briscoes

This match is one that many Ring of Honor fans have wanted to see since The Awakening appeared in Ring of Honor, but that anticipation seems to have died off some as The Awakening has had very up and down results since joining the roster. This is the match that they circled when they signed their ROH contracts though and they came out fighting hard to try and prove that they deserve to sit atop the ranks of the tag team division. The Briscoes haven’t had the easiest few months though and they came out firing, wanting to head into the title match with the PBK with some momentum. They succeeded in building up important momentum in this one as they were able to withstand the high impact offense of Big Kon and Vik and gave them a taste of their world class tag ability and showed why they are Tag Team Champions. The finish came as The Brisoces paid homage to a team that both teams looked up to as they got Vik up on Jay’s shoulders as Mark springboarded off the top rope and took him off with a devastating Doomsday Device to get the win and head into 20th Anniversary with some much needed momentum.

Dalton Castle vs. Mascara Dorada

Both men were escorted out to the ring by their tag partners as Dalton Castle was looking to turn things around as he and Breezus have struggled since joining forces. This wasn’t going to be an easy task though because since joining ROH Mascara Dorada has showed why he was a world class wrestler before his stop in WWE. He used the ropes like only he can for innovative offense that the Ring of Honor fans loved and were fully behind him for. Castle is a former World Champion though and showed why when Dorada missed on a high impact move and he pounced. He was vicious with his attack on the luchador, and after several high impact moves he seemed like he was closing in on a victory. Dorada was able to kick it into a gear he hadn’t shown in years though and after he avoided a clothesline from Castle he was able to roll him up from behind and get a lightning quick three count to get a big victory, sending Castle into a rage.

Winner: Mascara Dorada

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the match Castle was furious. As soon as the referee raised the hand of the winner Castle took him down with a clubbing blow from behind. He started to yell at Dorada that he wasn’t better than Castle. This brought Breezus and Samuray del Sol flying into the ring, each taking their partners and separating them from further violence breaking out between them. Castle was yelling at Breezus to let him go, and Breezus was furious as he has a match with the World Champion next and didn’t want any part of this fight that his partner had picked. Samurary was helping Dorada get his composure as he pointed at Breezus and yelled at him to control his friend or he would do it for him. The luchadors slowly exited the ring and headed to the back as Breezus continued to try and calm Castle down as our last commercial break came.

Breezus vs. Jonathan Gresham

When we come back for this match Castle has left the ringside area, leaving his teammate to face the very dangerous World Champion Gresham with no support. Gresham quickly showed why he’s considered the ring general of ROH as he controlled the pace to one that didn’t give Breezus much of a chance from the opening bell. Breezus is very confident in his technical ability, and while he may have been able to out wrestle many of the competitors from where he came from, that wasn’t going to happen with the World Champion. Every time Breezus would try to lock something in on Gresham, he would escape from it then lock in a hold that Breezus had to fight tooth and nail to get out of. Once Gresham sensed that he had Breezus on the ropes he started to turn up the pace, even hitting some impressive high flying moves punctuated by a big moonsault, getting a very close two count. Breezus got one final burst of energy and went for the Beauty Shot, but Gresham ducked under the kick very easily. Breezus left himself wide open with this miss and like a shark smelling blood in the water Gresham locked in the Octopus Lock, and like many before him Breezus was forced to submit. The show went off the air for the second week in a row with Gresham holding his title belt high in the air as he continues to build steam towards his title defense against EC3 at 20th Anniversary in just eight days.

Around the World of Wrestling

March Week 3, 2022

Wednesday

AEW Dynamite put on another memorable show this week, but for a different reason than their high quality outings of late. The woman many consider to be one of the finest competitors in the world lost her World Championship, and not to someone many would have pegged as the next champion. In a match only rated at a 61, Britt Baker lost her championship to young upstart Julia Hart. At the weekly Dynamite watching we had Danhausen almost broke his no swearing rule when the three count happened. It’ll be interesting to see where the women’s division in AEW goes from here.

Friday

The retirements keep on coming in this year, as Diamond Dallas Page and LuFisto both announced they would be stepping away from professional wrestling. Page, who retired from active competition years ago, announced he’d be leaving wrestling for good. Danhausen figures there’s always money in the yoga stand apparently. LuFisto is just stepping away from being a full time wrestler and will likely continue in a backstage role, leading women to put on great matches like she did for years. To celebrate the occasion Danhausen popped in his favorite DDP Yoga DVD and made us all do a morning stretch.

Sunday

WWE held their annual pre-Wrestlemania pay-per-view, Fastlane tonight and it received a respectable 78 rating for being a more minor show. The main event of the evening saw Randy Orton and Riddle retain their Raw Tag Team Championships against the team of Big E and Drew McIntyre in a match that was rated as an 81.

New Japan held the finals of the New Japan Cup tonight in a show that featured three world class matchups. The finals of the tournament saw Hiroshi Tanahashi defeat Hiromu Takahashi in an 81 rated main event to earn the trophy and title shot at the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship in the future. The two highest rated matches of the night came from lower down the card though as Tetsuya Naito defeated Kazuchika Okada in an incredible 88 rated match, and Minoru Suzuki defeat Will Ospreay in a match rated at an 86. A great showing for NJPW for sure.

Ring of Honor Wrestling Preview

Friday, March Week 4, 2022

NpdrAYN.jpg vs. 0Pk4U6a.jpg

Here we are one night away from ROH 20th Anniversary. The World Championship will be up for grabs at the pay-per-view, and here on the eve of the big event the challenger will step into the ring in the main event and try to build some momentum before he faces World Champion Jonathan Gresham. In that main event EC3 will be facing longtime Gresham rival, Josh Woods in what promises to be a very hard hitting affair that will test EC3’s toughness before he challenges for the championship. Gresham has been tormenting EC3 and his partner in The Narrative, The Titan for the past few weeks as he looks to throw the challenger off his game before their match, but will EC3 put the champions actions behind him as he builds towards 20th Anniversary?

bU7IrZL.jpg vs. iTK4jPS.jpg

Johnny Gargano has his challenger for the pay-per-view as longtime ROH competitor Chris Hero has returned to the fold. With Gargano’s attention on the mind games being played by Scarlett Bordeaux and her associate that allowed Hero to fire the first shot between the two men leading into what promises to be a match to steal the show at 20th Anniversary. Fans have been buzzing all week about these two men locking horns. Tonight Gargano will try to shake this whole situation by stepping into the ring with Tracy Williams, no easy feat. How will the looming threat of Scarlett and whoever follows her play into this whole situation, and will we get anymore answers as to why they are stalking Gargano in this manner?

GkrDHdy.jpgpqtA1ND.jpg vs. M27b0Ct.jpgixHUccE.jpg

A big tag team match will be contested on this weeks show as Brody King will be teaming with Vincent to face off with a man that King has in his crosshairs, Bandido, and his partner Television Champion Rey Horus. Horus has a big Television Championship match against Dragon Lee at the pay-per-view, so will the champion be able to get back onto his winning ways as he teams with Bandido in this match? And with tensions simmering between Brody King and Bandido, how physical will things become between the two men who are developing quite the hatred for each other?

Johnny Gargano vs. Tracy Williams

This week’s episode of Ring of Honor Wrestling kicks off with a great technical wrestling showcase. Both men look forward to outwrestling the other in this one. Gargano wants to prove that Scarlett Bordeaux, her associate, and Chris Hero aren’t going to be in his head heading into the pay-per-view, while Tracy Williams is out to make a name for himself in this new era of honor. The two men showed each other respect as they would make impressive moves, followed by counter moves from the other man. It seemed very evenly matched near the beginning, but Gargano’s drive and ability began to shine through as he started to use his great speed to make sure Williams couldn’t wrestle his match. Tracy tried in vein several times to put Gargano away and get a signature victory for himself, but it was all for naught as Gargano was too much to handle, ultimately able to finish things off by locking in the Gargano Escape to earn another victory.

Winner: Johnny Gargano

Time: 18:51

Rating: 69

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the match Gargano seems like he is reverting back to his positive outlook on things as he celebrates another victory since joining the Ring of Honor roster a few months back. But as he acknowledges the fans the mood quickly takes a dark turn. The lights go out in the arena, and the signature red spolight we’ve gotten used to shines on Gargano in the ring, who quickly clinches his fists, ready for a fight. That changes though as Scarlett Bordeaux appears on screen, and for the first time there is a figure stalking back and forth in the background, and he quickly steps into the foreground to finally address his target.

Killer Kross

Johnny! Congratulations, you figured it out ahead of schedule. As much as I would have loved to give you quite the shock and take you out by surprise, I want you to stop and think about it for awhile first. What fun is it to just strike and not enjoy the sport of it all? That’s what this whole things is about Johnny. You walk around like you are some sort of gift to wrestling. I have become obsessed with proving you are just like everybody else. Everyone but me. You know what I’m capable of Johnny, that’s why you’ve been so scared lately. That’s the fun part. I want you to know your doom is coming, and there’s not a thing you can do about it. You wanted a match with me at 20th Anniversary? This isn’t about matches Johnny, this is about me putting you down! Your time is running out! Only we know the time, only we know the place, but I can promise you one thing, your time is coming.

With Kross’s final words in his opening statement to Gargano the lights quickly come back on, and it seems that Gargano isn’t alone in the ring.

FbaMaRS.jpg

Johnny Gargano’s opponent for 20th Anniversary Chris Hero is now standing behind Gargano, who was still staring a hole in the video board where Killer Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux appeared just moments before. Johnny sensed that he wasn’t alone and quickly turned around to see Hero lunging at him, but he stopped just short of leveling Gargano for the second week in a row. He instead let out an evil laugh and could be saying that he needs to worry about him, not Kross. Hero pointed to his head and laughed as he exited the ring, knowing he has the advantage as Gargano’s head can’t be fully in their match coming up tomorrow night at the pay-per-view.

Bandido and Rey Horus vs. Brody King and Vincent

Bandido and Rey Horus team up once again in this one to take on Bandido’s rival Brody King and the ever dangerous Vincent. Bandido and King wasted no time going at each other as the Television Champion Horus did what he could to make sure Vincent wasn’t going to stick his nose into the match too often. From the early goings it was obvious that Bandido and Horus used their experience as a team to their advantage as King and Vincent weren’t communicating like a team that was on the same page. Vincent would get into the match, and when he was isolated by the MexiSquad his partner would become visibly frustrated on the apron and instead of encouraging Vincent he would shout at him to get it together. This lack of communication ultimately led to what most thought it would as Bandido hit the Revolution Fly on Vincent to give his team the victory.

Winners: Bandido and Rey Horus

Time: 15:01

Rating: 59

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the match the victors celebrated in the ring while Vincent struggle to gather himself after taking Bandido’s vicious finisher. This left Brody King on the outside looking absolutely furious. Then he snapped. He grabbed a chair from the timekeepers area then stormed into the ring. He started with Bandido, who had his hands raised in triumph when King absolutely leveled him with a chair shot to the back. He then turned his attention to the Television Champion Rey Horus. He heard the impact from the attack on his partner and jumped down from posing on the second rope only to be blasted between the eyes with a chair shot, barely getting his hands up in time to shield the full impact of the blow. Vincent looked on as he struggled to get to his feet as King dropped the chair and helped Vincent up. The relief from Vincent turned to horror though as King hoisted him up and dropped him with the All Seeing Eye. He looked to possibly be done with the attack, but as Horus started to stir King was angered by this defiance. He stormed over and hit and running boot right to Horus’s head, then grabbed the chair and placed it around the leg of the downed champion. He quickly went to the middle rope and looked around, seeing Bandido working his way back up to his feet. King then made the leap and stomped on the legs of the chair, sending a scream around the arena as it appeared that Horus may have suffered damage to his ankle from this vicious attack. Bandido made a lunge at King but he was already on his way out of the ring as referees rushed down to check on the Television Champion.

Keith Lee vs. Tony Deppen

Deppen came into this match at a huge size disadvantage, and while he tried to use his speed to try and take the fight to Lee, he was horrified to find out that Keith Lee could keep up with him nearly step for step. Lee, who has a championship match with his partner Shane Taylor tomorrow against The Briscoes stepped into singles action in this one trying to build momentum for his team, and he was very successful at doing it. Deppen brought some of his strongest offense to the table, but Lee didn’t seem to be too staggered by it, and when he turned the offense on Deppen was sent flying around the ring like a ragdoll. A particularly impressive feat when Lee hit a pounce that would make Monty Brown jealous. He then got Deppen up to his feet and hit the Spirit Bomb to get a very impressive victory heading into The PBK’s title opportunity in just a day’s time.

Winner: Keith Lee

Time: 14:24

Rating: 63

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the match Keith Lee’s partner Shane Taylor celebrated at ringside and shouted good job to his partner. He grabbed another chair from ringside and headed into the ring with it as Keith Lee looked on puzzled as to why his partner was doing this. Taylor moved Lee over slightly to the side and began to size up Deppen with the chair, seemingly ready to let go a full force shot to Deppen and continue the violence that has broken out in tonight’s episode. Lee wasn’t going to stand by and witness this though as he stepped between Deppen and his partner and could be heard talking to Taylor over a stunned crowd.

Keith Lee

Stop it man. What’s gotten into you? Look at us. We don’t need to resort to this. We can take care of business with our bare hands. I’ve had about enough of you trying to take shortcuts. Get your head on straight. We’ve got some titles to win. Let’s go.

With these words Taylor looked frustrated but he dropped the chair and followed Lee out of the ring, shouting at Deppen that he got lucky on this particular night.

Sumie Sakai vs. Taya Valkyrie

The women’s division has been focused on four women as of late, and it seems like former Women’s Champion Sumie Sakai wants to reenter her name into the conversation. She brought the fight to Valkyrie in this match, Taya’s first singles match since coming to Ring of Honor. Sakai used her great striking ability and technical wrestling prowess to control Valkyrie for much of the match, but Taya showed her physical abilities as she was able to overpower Sakai when she attempted several moves and give herself the upper hand. Sakai attempted to hoist Valkyrie up for a german suplex, but the more powerful Valkyrie blocked the attempt, then got behind Sakai and hit The Road to Valhalla to put the ring veteran down for a statement making victory.

Winner: Taya Valkyrie

Time: 11:44

Rating: 49

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When we come back from commercial Quinn McKay is standing by backstage with the victorious Taya Valkyrie.

Quinn McKay

Taya! Congratulations on your first victory since joining the Ring of Honor roster. That was a very impressive victory out there. I just have a couple questions for you. First, do you have any thoughts on the title match tomorrow night between Rok-C and Athena? And then, what’s next for Taya Valkyrie here in Ring of Honor?

Taya Valkyrie

Thank you Quinn. It’s always an honor to go out there and face a legend like Sumie Sakai, and I’m very proud to have come out victorious in that battle. It wasn’t easy but I’m standing here the victor, the first of many to come. When it comes to the title match tomorrow, I’m certainly looking forward to it. Rok-C seems like she has all the tools to go places in this business, but you can’t count Athena out. We’ve trained together and she’s a fierce competitor. I think either woman could come out victorious, and whichever does I’ll be here waiting for them because I want that championship Quinn.

As for my immediate future, I, like everyone else hear The Narrative spouting their nonsense to anybody who will listen. EC3, The Titan and Mia Yim are running their mouths about how they were cast aside and misused before they got to ROH. Let me tell you all something. At least you got a chance to prove yourselves. I wasn’t even given that opportunity. I was cast aside before people even knew my name. You don’t hear me crying about it. You blame everyone but yourselves for your shortcomings. Mia, I know you are one tough woman, but if you are feeling like dancing, tomorrow night at 20th Anniversary my card is open, and if you step into the ring with me I’ll expose you for the failure you are!

Breezus vs. Samuray del Sol

It has been announced that tomorrow night at 20th Anniversary the team of Breezus and Dalton Castle will team up to face Samuray del Sol and Mascara Dorada. The fans got a good preview match in this one. These two have spent a lot of time together in their career and it showed as they shook hands before the match and then put on a very competitive match that could have went either way. Breezus has been down on his luck since joining forces with Dalton Castle. Many though they would be a dominant team but their lack of communication and chemistry has been holding them back, while Samuray del Sol has regained momentum after losing his Television Championship by reforming the former Lucha House Party with his partner. There were several close falls throughout the match and the fans called out with each near fall. The finish came with Samuray hooking Breezus’s head for the Salita del Sol, then going up and over but failing to bring his opponent to the mat with him. Breezus took this opportunity to rebound off the ropes to build momentum and hit the Beauty Shot for a momentum gaining victory.

Winner: Breezus

Time: 14:36

Rating: 60

NpdrAYN.jpg vs. 0Pk4U6a.jpg

EC3 vs. Josh Woods

It likely wasn’t EC3’s choice to be wrestling the night before his big World Championship opportunity against Jonathan Gresham, but he has an opportunity to show the world that he can hang in the ring with a competitor with a similar skill set to Gresham. Woods, who has had several great technical showcases with Gresham brought that kind of aggression and skill to the match with EC3, who seemed out of his element at the opening bell, but slowly settled in and started to bring his more physical type of offense to Woods. EC3 started to control the pace by taking Woods down with heavy strikes, then putting all his weight on Woods through variations on headlocks and holds to try to catch his breath during the match. Even though it wasn’t a long match by ROH standards it was clear that EC3 was struggling to keep his breath and strength near the end of the match. This may have motivated him as he almost took Woods out of his shoes with a clothesline, then brought him in for the One Percenter to finish the match and head to his championship match tomorrow with a victory.

Winner: EC3

Time: 15:05

Rating: 57

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the bell EC3 celebrated with The Titan, basically telling the fans that he told them he’s as good as he claims to be. The fans showered him with boos until the music of the World Champion hit the arena and Jonathan Gresham headed through the curtain and marched down the ramp with his title like a man on a mission. He rolled into the ring and held his title up high in the face of EC3. The leader of The Narrative was having none of it and motioned to The Titan, who stepped in front of EC3 and towered over the much shorter World Champion. The picture was clear to end the show twenty-four hours away from the title match. If Jonathan Gresham is going to keep his World Championship he’s going to have to go through The Titan to get stop EC3.

The scene appears inside a gym, where Danhausen is working out as he tries to rehab his broken leg that has kept him on the sidelines for almost half a year. He gets a call and hops off the treadmill to answer it.

Danhausen

Hello! Danhausen here!

Conan

Hey Danny! Haven’t heard from you in awhile. I tried to Facetime you but apparently you don’t get that on your Jitterbug.

Danhausen

Curse these human communication devices! Danhausen is just getting a workout in to heal his leg that was broken in half.

Conan

Oh yeah, I almost forgot you are actually a wrestler. Any plans on getting back into the swing of things anytime soon?

Danhausen

Danhausen’s doctors tell him he should be ready to wrestle in a couple months, hopefully at the end of May. You think you’ve seen good wrestling in the Ring of Honor so far Conan, you haven’t seen anything yet. Danhausen will be World Champion in no time.

Conan

Sure, I’m positive that’s what would be best for business. That’s an eyeroll you heard by the way. What I actually called about is to talk about those changes I heard you wanted to make to our product. I’m interested in seeing what direction you want to go with them.

Danhausen

Ah yes, the changes. Well as you know, Ring of Honor was a very unique promotion. It centered around shows of respect, which Danhausen wants to keep a part of the product. But the way we run things our fans still expect a technical showcase match on each show even though we got rid of the pure division. Also they don’t like any shenanigans in any matches, and as you know Danhausen is quite the fan of the shenanigans. The fans don't even like Danhausen running any ladder or cage matches.

Conan

That sounds good. Shenanigans is my favorite restaurant. They got all that good crap on the walls.

Danhausen

Yes, Danhausen is aware of that restaurant. The fans also expected our matches to be very very long every week, even in our television show. We are going to start to reel that in and have quality matches still, but be able to fit more into the time we are given as we try to find a network to air our television show. What Danhausen is hoping to create in Ring of Honor is a wrestling nerd nirvana you might call it. You can come to Ring of Honor to see the dream matches you’ve always wanted to see, but you are going to be entertained as well. Good guys and bad guys are going to matter more now. Danhausen thinks it’s going to be a good direction for us to take the reboothausen.

Conan

I like it kid. You know what, you aren’t doing half bad with this thing. Keep it up, because if you don’t when you get back to wrestling I’m going to use my power and put you in a match with that Titan guy. Then maybe he’ll make your head match your leg. Anyways, talk to you later Danny!

Ring of Honor Special Announcement

Television Champion Rey Horus Injured, Brody King Suspended

Fans who tuned into Ring of Honor Wrestling last night saw a tag match between Bandido and Rey Horus against Brody King and Vincent. The luchadors came out on top, and Brody King snapped and attacked all three men in a violent rage after the match. The timing of the attack couldn’t come at a worse time, the eve of 20th Anniversary. With his vicious attack to the ankle of Horus, the Television Champion won’t be able to defend his title at the pay-per-view in his scheduled match with Dragon Lee. Because of his actions Brody King will be taken off the pay-per-view and be suspended indefinitely. To make up for the loss of two matches at the pay-per-view two bonus matches have been added. In a rematch from a previous week’s ROH Wrestling Bandido will face Dragon Lee in a match that’s sure to play into the title picture for when Horus returns to action. The other match will see a great technical showcase as Josh Woods will face Tracy Williams. Stay tuned later today for our full Ring of Honor 20th Anniversary preview and prediction show!
