WCW MAIN EVENT

BROADCAST IN SYNDICATION

WEEKEND OF WEEK THREE - FEBRUARY 1992

FILMED AT DISNEY-MGM STUDIOS

  1. A music video is shown to promote the new WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Big Van Vader.
  2. In a decent match, Jushin Thunder Liger defeated Johnny B. Badd in 6:03 by pinfall with a Brainbuster.
  3. A recap of The Samoan SWAT Team attacking The Steiner Brothers and stealing the WCW United States Tag Team titles is shown.
  4. In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but terrible wrestling, The Samoan SWAT Team defeated The WCW Patriots in 3:39 when Samu pinned Firebreaker Chip with a Double Diving Headbutt.
  5. In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but sub-par wrestling, Brian Pillman defeated Thomas Rich in 8:02 by pinfall with an Air Pillman following botched interference by Alexandra York. Brian Pillman makes defence number two of the WCW Light Heavyweight title.
  6. Brian Pillman is celebrating his victory in the ring. Thomas Rich and the rest of The York Foundation hit the ring and attack Pillman, beating him down to the mat.
  7. Harley Race comes to the ring with WCW World Heavyweight Champion Big Van Vader. Race says that Vader has become the controlling head of his hydra by taking out Sting and claiming the WCW World Heavyweight title. Race says that we've seen the last of Sting, but that doesn't sit well with Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat who comes out and says that he's more than willing to stand up for Sting and the fans of WCW. The two wrestlers prepare to fight, but WCW security hits the ring and keeps them separated.
  8. Paul E. Dangerously and Madusa Miceli are out with WCW World Television Champion "Stunning" Steve Austin. Dangerously says that regardless of new commissioner Nick Bockwinkel's idle threats, The Dangerous Alliance will continue to reign supreme over World Championship Wrestling. Paul Orndorff couldn't get the job done as Superbrawl, so now it's up to Austin to cut down the young up & comer, Shane Douglas.
  9. In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, Shane Douglas drew with Steve Austin in 15:00 when the time limit expired. Austin retained the WCW Television Championship.

Sting and Vader pulled in an 80 rating, Steamboat and Rude had MOTN with an 84.

That's awesome and for a Medium sized promotion like WCW in 92, that's fantastic scores.

I'd love to see these matches revisited after all four are more popular.

I don't comment or predict much, but I am enjoying the heck out of this. The 92 mod is head and shoulders my favorite 2020 mod and I love seeing what you're doing.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING ON TBS

PREVIEW - WEEK THREE - FEBRUARY 1992

It’s time for the fallout from Superbrawl II, and we have a new WCW World Heavyweight Champion! Big Van Vader obliterated fan favorite superstar, the man they call Sting, en route to claiming the belt and injuring the former champion. This weekend on Main Event, Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat stood up to Harley Race and his Hydra and Saturday night on TBS, Steamboat will take on one head of that hydra in Mr. Hughes.

Also on Main Event, The York Foundation set their sights on acquiring the WCW Light Heavyweight Championship but came up short against Flyin’ Brian Pillman. Now, Pillman teams with fellow York Foundation targets The Armstrong Boys, Brad and Brian, in six man action against Alexandra York’s entire Foundation.

The Dangerous Alliance has had their share of issues with… well, everyone lately. But, after “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff failed to take care of their problem with Shane Douglas and claim a spot in the Alliance at Superbrawl. Now, Paul E. Dangerously will dispatch two of his heaviest hitters in “Stunning” Steve Austin and “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton in the hopes of taking care of two problems at the same time: Shane Douglas and Marcus Alexander Bagwell.

Also at Superbrawl, The Samoan SWAT Team ruined plans for a WCW United States Tag Team Championship match by beating down The Steiner Brothers and stealing the belts! Newly appointed commissioner Nick Bockwinkel has laid down the law and booked the Superbrawl match for this Saturday on TBS! Not to be controlled, however, Samu & Fatu have refused to put the belts on the line even though they aren't the champions!

All of this plus Jushin Thunder Liger and more, this Saturday on TBS!

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING

WEEK THREE - FEBRUARY 1992

FROM THE BALTIMORE ARENA

v4pxe0J.jpgRO3hoYI.jpgwPqC9Xg.jpg

ANNOUNCE TEAM: JIM ROSS, TONY SCHIAVONE, AND DUSTY RHODES

dbMi75k.jpg

An injured Sting appears on camera, sitting on his couch at home and announces to the fans that, after the injuries sustained in his match against Big Van Vader, he is not currently cleared to wrestle and the Board of Directors will not allow him to come to the arena in this shape. But he promises the fans that he will be back soon, and that he's coming to reclaim the WCW World Heavyweight Championship when he slays Harley Race's hydra and dethrones Vader.

FKi3DWS.jpgdhQoVhr.jpg

JUSHIN THUNDER LIGER

VERSUS

AVATAR

These two have met several times on WCW programming recently, and Liger has come out on top every time. Avatar looks impressive here, but he takes to showboating when he has the advantage and it turns the tides in Liger's favor. The pair work an even opener, but Liger picks up the win with a Brainbuster.

WINNER: JUSHIN THUNDER LIGER

The Fabulous Freebirds make their entrance to "I'm A Freebid, What's Your Excuse?" and play heavily to the crowd on their way to the ring sans leather jackets recently stolen by The Diamond Exchange. Michael P.S. Hayes and Jimmy "Jam" Garvin aren't too happy with The Diamond Exchange, both because of the theft and their recent loss at Superbrawl. These things will not stand, and tonight is the start of a little Freebird revenge.

The Diamond Exchange are out now to interrupt, laughing at the Freebirds and calling them relics. Where's the Michael Hayes that slammed the cage door on the Von Erichs? Where's the Freebird attitude that let them run roughshod over Georgia and Texas? Hell, where's Terry Gordy? Tonight isn't the beginning of Freebird revenge, it's the beginning of the end for Hayes & Garvin.

vbT5X9H.jpgOO6H8Py.jpg

MICHAEL P.S. HAYES

VERSUS

THE DIAMOND STUDD

There's no cheating involved in the outcome of the match this time, but that's because there's plenty of distraction on the outside with Garvin, Vinnie Vegas, and Diamond Dallas Page all mixed up in the affair. Studd hits the Diamond Death Drop for the win, and the Exchange once again leave with the Freebird jackets.

WINNER: THE DIAMOND STUDD

A brief video is shown, recapping the events between WCW Light Heavyweight Champion Flyin' Brian Pillman and The York Foundation. Pillman says he's not the only one who has had issues with The York Foundation, and that tonight they're gonna set things right.

yhWJWjc.jpglcCx2MI.jpgXLDZDz2.jpg

L2VBv6T.jpgvaENLtp.jpgHwG1PlB.jpg

FLYIN' BRIAN PILLMAN, BRAD ARMSTRONG, AND BRIAN ARMSTRONG

VERSUS

THE YORK FOUNDATION

(TERRENCE TAYLOR, THOMAS RICH, AND RICHARD MORTON)

A quick weekend story seemingly comes to an end here as Pillman and The Armstrong Boys triumph over The York Foundation. Whether this resolves all of their issues remains to be seen. Pillman pins Taylor with an Air Pillman.

WINNERS: BRIAN PILLMAN & THE ARMSTRONG BOYS

The Steiner Brothers are backstage with Missy Hyatt to cut a promo on The Samoan SWAT Team. The brothers from Michigan call the Samoans imposters and pretenders to the throne, walking around with stolen gold. The new commissioner Nick Bockwinkel ordered a title match, but the Samoans are cowards, too, because they refused to sign on for a title match. None of that matters, though, because the Steiners are just out to kick some Samoan ass now!

VTr0rHc.jpgbj2CYQX.jpgw1MOJUi.jpga8twC9o.jpg

NON-TITLE MATCH

THE STEINER BROTHERS ©

(RICK & SCOTT STEINER)

VERSUS

THE SAMOAN SWAT TEAM

(FATU & SAMU)

The announce team talk about how detestable The Samoan SWAT Team's actions in stealing the WCW United States Tag Team Championships has been as the match gets underway. The Steiner Brothers start off hot, but the Samoans use underhanded tactics to get the advantage all the way to the end when Fatu pins Rick with a handful of tights. The Samoan SWAT Team hightail it out of the arena with the belts once again before they can even have their hands raised for the tainted victory.

WINNERS: THE SAMOAN SWAT TEAM

6WNq1s9.jpg

Paul E. Dangerously is out with the entirety of The Dangerous Alliance. He says that solidarity is important right now, that's why they are all out here, and that's why "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton is teaming with "Stunning" Steve Austin tonight to, once and for all, rid World Championship Wrestling of the pests that are Shane Douglas and Marcus Alexander Bagwell.

KVvvaRU.jpg5Fl63aS.jpgnGbTQuL.jpgEmEhbwv.jpg

"STUNNING" STEVE AUSTIN & "BEAUTIFUL" BOBBY EATON

w/ PAUL E. DANGEROUSLY & MADUSA MICELI

VERSUS

SHANE DOUGLAS & MARCUS ALEXANDER BAGWELL

Magnum TA joins the commentary team here, hyping up Shane Douglas as not just a fan of his but, now, a protege. The Dangerous Alliance looks sharp here, but so do the youngsters and we see a competitive tag match ensue. The end sees Bagwell and Eaton tied up on the outside with Dangerously & Miceli, allowing Douglas to hit Austin with a Belly-to-Belly Suplex and pick up the win! The announcers rave that, "Douglas just pinned the champ!" while Magnum cheers for his protege.

WINNERS: SHANE DOUGLAS & MARCUS ALEXANDER BAGWELL

As Douglas & Bagwell celebrate in the ring, Tony Schiavone says something is going on backstage! We're taken just behind the entrance, where "Ravishing" Rick Rude is about to charge into the arena before someone grabs him by the wrist.

362QX1q.jpgakNd4Et.jpg

Nick Bockwinkel stops Rude in his tracks, and tells him that he'd think twice before going out to that ring to try and attack the victors on behalf of The Dangerous Alliance. He just might find himself fined, suspended, or even stripped of the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship should he go through the curtain.

Rude says that he had taken a vow of silence due to the injustices facing The Dangerous Alliance in WCW, but that Bockwinkel's authority is the biggest injustice of them all. Rude will heed the advice this time, but the commissioner needs to know that his days in power are numbered. The Dangerous Alliance will not yield to Bockwinkel or anyone else.

0vfnPLK.jpg

Harley Race is backstage with Missy Hyatt and Mr. Hughes to cut a quick promo. He says that Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat stuck his nose where it didn't belong, so now it is time for The Bodyguard to break his face.

2CrAC1w.jpgl93EMWj.jpg

RICKY "THE DRAGON" STEAMBOAT

VERSUS

MR. HUGHES

w/ HARLEY RACE

Mr. Hughes looks good against The Dragon, but the outcome is never really in doubt as Steamboat overcomes the first head of the hydra to pick up a win.

WINNER: RICKY STEAMBOAT

GwGAVyc.jpglVFVtMp.jpg

Apparently there is no Nick Bockwinkel behind the curtain for this match, because Big Van Vader and Bam Bam Bigelow hit the ring to attack Ricky Steamboat with a recovered Mr. Hughes. The show ends with Steamboat taking a Vader Bomb with the WCW World Heavyweight Championship placed over his ribs just like Sting a few weeks ago!

Lol Van Hammer in the top ten is hilarious

Looking back on it, it does come off that way, considering how little he accomplished with the push he got at the time (and when he wrestled in Georgia All-Star Wrestling prior to joining WCW, he was even touted by the Apter mags as being the second coming of Sid Vicious).

He wasn't very good in the ring either.

WCW tried to push Van Hammer as the next big thing, he was undefeated going into the match/feud with Cactus Jack. I'm trying to somewhat replicate that here, even if he is falling by the wayside a bit.

Oh I know, but hindsight is 20/20 and looking back 30 years later it's funny seeing a guy that failed as a wrestler being successful.

He had a good look and he wasn't awful in the ring. I can see why someone would push him based on looks alone.

WCW MAIN EVENT

BROADCAST IN SYNDICATION

WEEKEND OF WEEK FOUR - FEBRUARY 1992

FILMED AT DISNEY-MGM STUDIOS

  1. Paul E. Dangerously is backstage with Missy Hyatt, sans the rest of The Dangerous Alliance. He says that, since the arrival of Nick Bockwinkel, he's had time to think about a few things. It's time for The Dangerous Alliance to begin achieving their goals and nothing, not Nick Bockwinkel, not the Board of Directors, nothing is going to stop them!
  2. In a decent match, Van Hammer defeated Paul Orndorff in 7:41 by pinfall.
  3. Harley Race had an interview in which he declared that his hydra had slayed The Stinger, and nothing would stop them from running roughshod over World Championship Wrestling. He claims that tonight is the beginning of big things for The Bodyguard, Mr. Hughes.
  4. In a bout that didn't have much heat and terrible wrestling, Mr. Hughes defeated The Patriot in 5:50 by pinfall with a Powerslam.
  5. The Steiner Brothers, Rick & Scott Steiner, cut a promo where they say they are head hunting for The Samoan SWAT Team. Nothing is going to stop them from getting back the belts they never lost in the first place.
  6. In a decent match, The Steiner Brothers defeated The York Foundation in 6:58 when Scott Steiner pinned Thomas Rich with a Steinerizer.
  7. Sting cuts a promo in which he declares that, cleared or not, he'll be in the arena this Saturday for World Championship Wrestling and he might just be on the prowl for a little revenge.
  8. In a decent match, Ron Simmons defeated Bobby Eaton in 13:27 by pinfall with a Spinebuster.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING ON TBS

PREVIEW - WEEK FOUR - FEBRUARY 1992

It’s the LAST week of World Championship Wrestling this Saturday night on TBS! As February turns to March, a new show will launch in its place– and we’re going out with a bang! Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat continues to stand up to Harley Race and his Hydra, besting “The Bodyguard” Mr. Hughes last week and now setting his sights on “The Beast from the East” Bam Bam Bigelow. Can Steamboat overcome the second head of the Hydra and earn his shot at WCW World Heavyweight Champion Big Van Vader? Tune in and find out!

The WCW Light Heavyweight division has been heating up, and no two stars have been hotter than Champion Flyin’ Brian Pillman and former champion Jushin Thunder Liger. They’ll meet in a title showdown this Saturday!

Long-reigning WCW Television Champion “Stunning” Steve Austin will defend his title against Marcus Alexander Bagwell. The youngster Bagwell hopes for a better outcome than in their last meeting.

Ron Simmons looks to continue his recent winning streak, but standing in his way is “The Bodyguard” Mr. Hughes. Both men are large powerhouse wrestlers, and, as our own Jim Ross would say, this is going to be a slobberknocker!

Paul E. Dangerously continues to have issues with Magnum TA's young protege Shane Douglas, and this week he has promised a “shocking” development in their issues. What will Dangerously have to say, and will Douglas be able to overcome “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton?

The war continues to rage between The Fabulous Freebirds and The Diamond Exchange, this week sees Vinnie Vegas and Jimmy “Jam” Garvin step into the squared circle against one another. The Exchange are still in possession of the Freebirds’ prized leather jackets from their Clash of the Champions makeover. What will happen this weekend on the last edition of World Championship Wrestling?

All of this plus WCW United States Champion “Ravishing” Rick Rude in action, this Saturday night on TBS!
