BEST IN THE WORLD MATCHCARD

lZHwzBp.jpgfpzyYhQ.jpgDcjT23Z.jpgZeBwBEd.jpg

After a big weekend in Michigan and Illinois we're heading towards "Best In The World". In addition to the already announced matches like the Tag team title match or the World title match, Ring of Honor can confirm a diverse matchcard with some bangers! Mercedes Martinez will defend her Interim World Women's Championship against Trish Adora, still working on a unification match with Deonna Purrazzo which isn't possible at the moment. After his win against former Pure titleholder Josh Woods, Taylor Rust earned a Pure Championship match with the reigning champion Wheeler Yuta. It will be Rust's first opportunity to win ROH gold in his career.

Our partners New Japan Pro-Wrestling will appear at "Best In The World" with a special eight man tag team match between the LA Dojo guys and a ROH team of Rhett Titus, Brian Johnson, Dak Draper and Mike Bennett. One of the big highlights of NJPW USA shows is going to be held at the show: "Switchblade" Jay White's "US of Jay Open Challenge" will take place in Boston!

Tully Blanchard and his client Brian Cage demanded a stronger opponent for "The Machine" and Tony Khan answered their prayers: Fred Yehi has won both matches since he came back to Ring of Honor and is definitely ready to step into the ring with Brian Cage.

Just the right level of detail! I normally only really skim fully written shows, so having the key highlights/takeaways is more than enough for me.

WAR OF THE WORLDS ANNOUNCEMENT

4P4nWAV.jpgHW3xLwj.jpgPtvhMZx.jpgLNdBiE9.jpghmCQxVd.jpgXTOQjsQ.jpgYTjDp81.jpgr0QlD4Z.jpg

What a time to be a pro-wrestling fan! We're just days away of "Best In The World" and Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro-Wrestling just announced eight more names which will participate at "War Of The Worlds" in Charm City!

Two more wrestler from Japan will come to America: Yuji Nagata and Tomohiro Ishii are eager to bring the strong style back to Ring of Honor. The american subsidiary of NJPW are sending JONAH, Aussie Open (Mark Davis & Kyle Fletcher) of the United Empire and Tom Lawlor to Baltimore.

The New Japan STRONG Openweight Champion Tom Lawlor will defend his title against the winner of the four corner survival match at "Best In The World", which could potentially be Blake Christian, Swerve Strickland, Josh Woods or Dalton Castle. Also IWGP US Heavyweight titleholder SANADA needs to defend the championship against an unannounced opponent.

Plus Tony Khan wants to have some AEW colours on the show: Eddie Kingston wants a match with some of Japan's finest when he'll take on "Blue Justice" Yuji Nagata! DDT loan Konosuke Takeshita will make his ROH and NJPW debut as a part of "War Of The Worlds", too.

Shaping up nicely!

Thanks man!

Really liking those War of the World announcements. AEW's relationships with NJPW/DDT should benefit ROH IRL, so it's cool to see you using them realistically.

I'm not a big fan of emulating the real world events when a diary started weeks ago (I think it's way more interesting to do your own things than copying real life happenings) but bringing in Takeshita just sounded like a cool idea though and yea obviously ROH is in an exciting position between a NJPW/AEW relationship and their partners of course like a DDT or IMPACT. Thanks for your feedback man!

War of the Worlds is looking STACKED!!

Thanks bro! More to come after the next show.

Speaking of the next show: You can still predict if you want to. I think "Best in the World" will be posted in the next 48 hours.:)

ZERO-HOUR

Ninja Mack & Dante Leon def. Gates Of Agony & Alec Price & Robert Martyr (8:40)

- Ninja Mack pinned Martyr while Kaun and Linoa threw Alec Price around the ring. After the match the Gates Of Agony destroyed Price and Martyr.

Bear Country def. Brock Anderson & Lee Johnson (8:24)

- Bear Country with another impressive win, however the two beefy dudes wanted to continue an assault on their opponents when Rocky Romero from New Japan, who was backstage due to the LA Dojo guys been booked, got in the way of Bear Country.

Four Corner Survival

Swerve Strickland def. Dalton Castle, Josh Woods & Blake Christian (13:59)

The winner of the match will face NJPW STRONG Openweight Champ Tom Lawlor at "War Of The Worlds" and each and everyone of them smelled a perfect opportunity to get on a big show again. Dalton Castle was obviously something else with his thoughts, he seemed like a different person tonight. Strickland however made the House Call on Christian and snatched up the victory. Lawlor versus Swerve confirmed at "War Of The Worlds".

LA Dojo (Karl Fredericks, Connors, Coughlin & Uemura) def. Rhett Titus, Brian Johnson, Dak Draper & Mike Bennett (10:03)

New Japan USA were guests when they meet a mixed team of ROH guys. With that being said it was a ROH team of guys who are on a losing streak and this was noticeable. Above all Rhett Titus was nervous and anxious most of the time in this match. The LA Dojo chaps felt it and made fun of their opponents, went a bit too cocky and Coughlin nearly got caught by Draper for a close near fall. It was time for the team's captain in Karl Fredericks to rescue the day with the MD for the win. Armed with a microfon the "Alpha Wolf" laughed off their opponents as being to weak for the LA Dojo and New Japan as a whole. He demanded better opponents next time when they step foot in a ROH ring again..Said and done, Karl! Josh Woods and Dalton Castle came down to the ring for a staredown..

However it got quite complicated when the dust has settled done and Castle let his boys helped up Rhett Titus just to beat down Titus immediatly again. Castle did not stopped his actions and he needed to be held back from several road agents, security guards and the World Famous CB. The latter received a brutal knee strike to his face. This is a Dalton Castle we never had seen before.

fhJyEez.jpgE0n1go7.jpg

We're backstage with "Bad Boy" Joey Janela and his bouncer Cezar Bononi. Janela stated that he will humiliate Minoru Suzuki today, like the japanese did last year with him. With Cezar behind his back he can't lose again, it's impossible! Joey said the ulcer of Jacksonville won't be happy witht today's outcome. Ninja Mack, Dante Leon and Blake Christian came into the scene when Janela applauded towards Mack and Leon, he immediatly said that he knew Mack and Dante will win their match today with the advices of him. Other than the two, Christian lost his match and even got pinned by Swerve but Janela stated that he's not mad at Blake for not taking his advice. He'll get another tip for his next upcoming match, however Christian shook his head and left the scene.

hwxztG9.jpgsi3u3Kp.jpgPkr9m87.jpg

Brian Cage w/Tully Blanchard def. Fred Yehi (12:36)

His four prior matches were overall shorter than today's match with Fred Yehi, definitely not a surprise but "The Machine" had his hands full with the former EVOLVE tag team champion. Yehi never quite made it in ROH but his start to 2022 was promising with two wins so far. Despite Cage's height he's agile like a Fred Yehi, so the counterwrestling was a real eye candy between these two. "Savageweight" trapped Cage into a Koji Clutch, but Cage did escaped on multiple occasions. The ground is definitely not Cage's speciality, what his speciality is he showed when he took Yehi's head off with a discus lariat followed by the Drill Claw for the next win.

RS2Z1t8.jpgXv7TC04.jpgDOhryYh.jpgvnCsc3V.jpgiHk2Sne.jpg

Lee Moriarty & Matt Sydal def. Jay Lethal & Tracy Williams w/Sonjay Dutt (17:53)

Ring announcer Bobby Cruise announced that Samoa Joe is absent due to an injury so Lee Moriarty had to fight on his own in the first minutes and got absolutely man handled by Lethal and Tracy Williams. To the delight of the crowd Moriarty's AEW mentor and former ROH Tag Team Champ Matt Sydal came to the rescue of his student and fought alongside him. Sydal brought a different attitude to the match and started a series of aerial maneuver to shock the heels. He eliminated Lethal with a tope suicida out of the ring while Moriarty pinned Tracy Williams with the Taiga Driver '18 for a huge victory.

4knVUer.jpg72TyArE.jpg3dJI9hu.jpgHcxJ018.jpg

Cathy Kelley interviewed Josh Woods, Dak Draper and Brian Johnson backstage. All three men were upset with the New Japan US boys talking pretty badly about their opponents and ROH as a whole. Woods said he wants to teach them some manners in the ring, while Draper and Johnson agreed to Wood's saying.

ROH Interim World Women's Championship

5snerHF.jpg

cevJ6vS.jpgUrpbgxr.jpg

Mercedes Martinez yaFE0md.png def. Trish Adora (13:10)

Sixteen years more of experience in the squared circle made the difference between Trish Adora and Interim Champion Mercedes Martinez. Adora may have the heart of a lion but "The OG Badass" was concretated, focussed and versatile like a real veteran should be. Adora's German went for a big near fall at two, however Martinez did it better with the Fisherman Buster for her first defense.

You don't want to get confronted by someone else after defending your title just seconds ago. Athena, the former Ember Moon, came down the aisle to get in the face of Mercedes Martinez, but she stopped and applauded Martinez. "The OG Badass" took a microfon and yelled that she finally wants the title unification bout with Deonna Purrazzo! Martinez ignored Athena until the latter wrested the mic away from Mercedes and just replied that she'll wait..

yDYu8xE.jpgfhJyEez.jpgDcjT23Z.jpg

Joney Janela w/Cezar Bononi def. Minoru Suzuki yaFE0md.png (13:40)

The match was a copy of their prior meeting last year when Suzuki battered Janela from left to the right side of the ring. "The King" chopped Janela's chest to raw meat, that's when things went a little bit different. The two brawled outside of the ring when Cezar Bononi got involved while Janela spoke to senior official Todd Sinclair. Bononi threw Suzuki into the steel stairs and punched him very hard to the guts, back in the ring Janela kicked Suzuki in the n*ts and rolled him up for the three count. The crowd gasped and Janela left the ring like a lightning!

Pkr9m87.jpg

Fred Yehi is backstage and is smirking around. The "Savageweight" talks about his performance so far in ROH since his comeback in Michigan. He said he's happy with his matches but he knows he should have won tonight. Yehi continued and said that under "Pure Rules" Brian Cage just has three rope breaks and so he wouldn't had the chance to escape the Koji Clutch another time...

US of Jay Open Challenge

ZeBwBEd.jpgvjhWoId.jpg

Jay White def. Jake Something (15:52)

What's his name? Something! One of the hottest free agents right now makes his way back to his home of ROH to face Jay White in another "US of Jay Open Challenge". The former IWGP Heavyweight Champion welcome Something back with a huge slap across the face, a mistake by the "Switchblade" who was attacked like a rhino by Jake Something. But Jay White is probably the wrestler with one of the highest IQ's out there, he always got something up his sleeves and so did he tonight. White ducked a lariat just to kick Something to the ringpost and that's when the Blade Runner was immediatly hit by the "Switchblade" for the three. The fans acknowledged Something's performance with applause and "welcome back" chants.

ROH Pure Championship

xt1ErZm.jpg

Pl2Adom.jpg7qVFblf.jpg

Wheeler Yuta yaFE0md.png def. Rust Taylor (15:17)

The Champ is a really bad man. Yuta's rise is something else, his 2021 was strong and 2022 could be even stronger after defending the Pure title for the second time after surprisingly winning it at "Supercard Of Honor". Rust Taylor is a experience wrestler, he knows the Pure Rules and the whole ROH environment and still Yuta finished him up with MMA elbow strikes, a maneuver which was made popular by his new mentor Bryan Danielson, and Referee Joe Mandak had no choice but to ring the bell.

e4lX2qg.jpg

Taylor and Yuta shook hands afterwards when suddenly Tony Nese came from the back and attacked the ROH Pure Champion from behind! Under a rain of boos Nese continued to attack Yuta and even posed with the ROH Pure belt in front of the cameras. His intensions are very clear!

ptEm8xk.jpg

The Foundation is no more – The first sentence said by ROH World Champion Jonathan Gresham may hurt some of the most loyal ROH Fans but "The Octopus" knows it's the truth. Tracy Williams joined forces with Lethal and they hurt ROH more than The Foundation had in mind when Lethal and himself founded the group. Gresham said that he has new friends like Lee Moriarty and is still carrying the honor and the title on his shoulders.

ROH World Tag Team Championship

FMqNZtL.jpg

l2Y8QvC.jpgl9yGFl9.jpgETvQKfp.jpgpz7UOjp.jpg

FTR yaFE0md.png def. The WorkHorsemen (20:28)

A real technical affair took place between these two teams. You absolutely loved the match when the old catch style matches are your cup of tea, both teams had fun out there. Althought Anthony Henry got pinned after The Mindbreaker, the WorkHorsemen showed big heart and courage against a much better team tonight. All four men shook hands after the match, showing real sportsmanship and they were even some sort of small hugs between the competitors. Dax Harwood spoke to the crowd and praised their opponents and announced that they'll defend the titles over the next shows against anyone. It does not matter which religion, race, gender you have, just come and fight them!

ROH World Championship

fpzyYhQ.jpgwY5FPQP.jpgiHk2Sne.jpgSvDG7JC.jpg

Jonathan Gresham yaFE0md.png def. Tony Deppen w/Sonjay Dutt & Jay Lethal (22:27)

"The Octopus" with yet another title defense in his book. To beat a sleazeball like Tony Deppen you've to give everything you've got in your body. Deppen and Gresham found themselves on the mat a majority of the time where Deppen showed his technical side. After a forearm battle right in the middle of the ring, Deppen hits a knee trembler and instantly locked in a cattle mutilation but Gresham reached the ropes. The Champ fought back and let Deppen tap out to the octopus stretch in a grueling battle.

Another successful title defense for "The Octopus", however he wasn't satisfied at all. Gresham took a microfon and asked Lethal if they finally can meet once in for all. Lethal nodded and answered that Manhattan sounds like a good place to dance, since it's the place where he won the ROH World title seven years ago. Gresham and Lethal had a stare down when the PPV broadcast went off-air with a confirmed main event for "Manhattan Mayhem IX"

What a fantastic show!!! I loved everything about it. Janela over Suzuki is certainly unexpected. I'm so intrigued where that goes...

Nese vs Yuta for the Pure title will be great. Loving FTR so far. I really hope we get to see more of Jay White as well!

EVENT CENTER DAYTON & ATLANTIC CITY

YNl3lwJ.jpg „I said it, no, I guaranteed you morons that I'll beat Minoru Suzuki. It was all fair and square, I mean you saw it of course. Anyway the ulcer of Jacksonville wasn't happy with the result I bet. Speaking of bet, due to my advices Dante Leon and Ninja Mack won their match and will receive a titlematch and I'll give Blake Christian another chance to hear me out.“

You've heard from the freshly crowned ROH World TV Champ Joey Janela first here at the ROH Event Center! "Best In The World" is over and we've seen a great show out of Lowell and are on our way to a double show weekend in Dayton, Ohio and Atlantic City, New Jersey! The match cards are complete and we're going to hear from wrestlers who are ready to take the chance to fight at a ROH show.

VI6JPyk.jpg „Ricky [shane Page] said that he has something for us, something to sink your teeth in he said and he was right. 44OH! with homefield advantage at a ROH show, huh? Is Khan aware that I don't have any honor left in my veins? That I'm an outcast, fighting against dishonorable people my whole life? Guess what fighting privileged people like Lee and Wheeler is also right up my ally. Be prepared b*tches..“

44OH! will fight at "Dissension" a trio of ROH World Champ Jonathan Gresham, ROH Pure Champion Wheeler Yuta and Lee Moriarty in front of their hometown crowd. Can they make an impression to the ROH fans? Speaking of hometown crowd, AEW's Varsity Blondes will make their ROH debut when they'll face the team of Tony Deppen and Tracy Williams. Also on the card will be AEW's Tony Nese and Jake Something. Speaking of something..

fs3dy5d.jpg „I don't want to say much, I lost in my return to home but I'll come back better and badder. What's my name? Something!“

Just a day later Ring Of Honor will make their Showboat debut in Atlantic City with two titlematches. Joey Janela, if he can beat Blake Christian the day before, will face New Jersey's own KC Navarro. Way more intriguing is the World Tag Team titlematch when FTR has to defend their belts against a very uncommon team..

dtjobZd.jpgfdtoDLG.jpg „FTR you have poke the devil. You guys said it: It does not matter which religion, race, gender you have, just come and fight us [..] So we took that as a challenge, are you ready to fight Bussy? Are you ready to make Ring Of Honor Gay? We're one of the most violent wrestlers out there and you can't come to our Showboat and not fight Bussy. ROH is fine..“

To close the Event Center we'll hear from Jay Lethal next...

SvDG7JC.jpg „Jonathan, we've been through a lot together the last years. Creating The Foundation, being tag team champions and much more. "Manhattan Mayhem IX" sounds like the perfect place to settle things once and for all [..] We're The Resolution.“
