Sabu retains WCW United States Championship against Ian Rotten at IWA Mid-South Barbed Wire, Bombs & Blood

Fans in attendance were left in shock as Sabu actually turned up and defended the WCW United States Championship at an Indiana Hardcore Indie show owned by Ian Rotten.

The match was a bloody duel with barbed wire ropes, chairs and bats all involved with both men covered in blood by the end of the match.

Sabu lifted the title at the end of the show to a decent reaction at the bumper crowd of 600 fans, it is thought that IWA Mid South basically doubled the amount of tickets they sold after this week's WCW promos which hyped up the match which led to them selling out the venue they hosted the show in.

It is not known if this is a one off or whether Sabu will continue to defend the WCW United States Championship at random shows not affiliated with WCW, although for storyline purposes at least Shane McMahon and WCW do not recognise his reign as champion.

* -Obviously taking a few creative liberties with this storyline as we don't control IWA Mid-South and in the game this match didn't happen, but I had this idea for the storyline and thought I'd roll with it

John Laurinaitis - Alchetron, The Free Social Encyclopedia

Johnny Ace signs for WWF

WCW announced today it had mutually parted ways with John Laurinaitis. 'Johnny Ace', who has been playing the on-screen role of "Head of Talent Relations" has been off-screen for a little while as he had requested his release when he was offered a back-office job by Vince McMahon in WWF.

Shane McMahon has ultimately made the call to let him go as he didn't want to have someone around who would rather be elsewhere.

Detroit, Michigan to see big match for 'Dr Death'!

c8c6f16478c1d32d292d564a9eae6048.png

This week on Nitro we got confirmation that the match for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship at the upcoming Fall Brawl PPV will see current champion Scott Hall take on 'Dr Death' Steve Williams, who won a Beat The Clock challenge on Nitro to earn the right to a shot at the championship.

Williams is a former NWA Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight champion, also winning the UWF Heavyweight championship and the Triple Crown Heavyweight championship in All Japan Pro Wrestling.

The only other confirmed match so far will see the WCW World Cruiserweight Championship on the line, with Juventud Guerrera defending against the recently debuted 'Sexy' Brian Lawler.

It is thought that Team Canada (Lance Storm & Mike Awesome) will defend their WCW World Tag Team Championship at the PPV event too, with a match between Fit's Fight Club (Fit Finlay & Dave Taylor) and Sean O'Haire & Chuck Palumbo set to take place this week on Nitro to determine who will be getting their shot in Michigan.

WCW to invest $150K in the Power Plant

It is being reported today that Shane McMahon has signed off $150,000 in new investment in WCW's training facility, the WCW Power Plant.

Shane and the higher ups in WCW are keen to improve the training they can offer at the performance centre for both existing and new talent coming through WCW.

The $150,000 is a one off investment, but Shane is also committing an extra $5-10K a month ongoing as well. It is thought that this investment has only been signed off once WCW started making a monthly profit again.

From what we know at least 8 existing members of the WCW roster are taking extra classes at the WCW Power Plant to improve, they are rumoured to be: AJ Styles, Chuck Palumbo, Mark Jindrak, Meiko Satomura, Sean O'Haire, Shawn Stasiak, Stacy Keibler & Torrie Wilson.

Nitro Episode 19:

Wednesday 05 September 2001

Live late-night on FX

6,701 crowd from Chicago, Illinois

Announcers: Tony Schiavone, Jerry 'The King' Lawler & Arn Anderson

-----------------------------------------------

Show opens up with Linkin Park's 'Runaway'

Runaway - Linkin Park (Hybrid Theory) (youtube.com)

Tony Schiavone on commentary says it's Wednesday night folks and you know what that means! It's WCW Nitro, LIVE from CHICAGO!!!!

Jerry Lawler excitedly says we're here in the Windy City, the fans here in Chicago aren't afraid to make a little noise and Tony I think tonight will be no exception!

That's right, Jerry, says Tony, we've got a big show for you tonight folks, Fit's Fight Club will take on Sean O'Haire and Chuck Palumbo to determine the #1 contenders for the WCW World World Tag Team Championship, the WCW World Tag Team Champions themselves, Team Canada will also be in action later tonight, as will 'The Natural' Dustin Rhodes.

We will also hear from Eric Bischoff tonight who it's safe to say is not happy about what happened to him last week with the debuting Chyna, (Lawler laughs), we'll also hear more from Shane McMahon about his plans for the currently vacated WCW United States Championship, our very own JJ Dillon will have an in-ring interview with Curt Hennig's son, Joe Hennig, about his father's loss at Mayhem, but right now folks we've got our WCW World Heavyweight Champion in action to open the show!

-----

Match 1:

Barry Horowicz vs Scott Hall (with The Sandman)

Horowicz is already in the ring. Arn Anderson hypes him up as a 22 year veteran, Lawler chimes in asking if in those 22 years he's got 22 wins?

ECW: Ready Or Not (Scott Hall) [Feat Fugees] - Single + Download Link (youtube.com)

Hall comes out driven by The Sandman in his trademark Bentley. Sandman gets the car door and still doesn't look 100 percent after the Book-End he took through a limo at Mayhem.

The two come down to the ring with Hall strutting with his WCW World Heavyweight Championship.

The match is a dominant win for Scott Hall who spends much of the match toying with Horowicz, taking his time, show-boating and embarrassing the experienced vet. Hall eventually gets bored and gets the win through the Razor's Edge.

Scott Hall wins via pinfall - (7.02) - (59 rated)

---

After the match Scott calls for a mic and The Sandman gives it to him. Scott Hall says tonight he embarrassed a washed up, beat up, old has-been and at Fall Brawl he's got the chance to do the same thing in the main event.

Hall says 'Dr Death' Steve Williams doesn't scare him. Who's he beaten to get a title shot? Mike Sanders? Really? Scott says he doesn't think Steve Williams deserves a shot, but that works just fine for him and if he's got to send him back to Japan for good then he'll gladly do it.

AJPW Steve Williams 1st Theme Song - "I Love It Loud" (With 1st Tron) (RIP) (youtube.com)

'Dr Death' Steve Williams comes out at the ramp looking intense, with Jimmy Hart by his side.

'Dr Death' says people have been writing him off his whole life. That just plays into his hands and at Fall Brawl he has the biggest opportunity of his life, it's an opportunity that he doesn't plan on wasting and Scott I might be a washed up, beat up, old has-been, but if I am, then what does that make you?

Scott says he's in the prime of his life both personally and professionally. He says this is one last run for 'Dr Death' and he's afraid at Fall Brawl that run will be out of gas.

Jimmy Hart starts talking but Scott cuts him off.

Scott Hall says be quiet music man. (fans boo). Scott says he respects Jimmy Hart as a manager, a great mind of the business and whilst he's no Jim Johnson he can still make a hell of an entrance theme. But Hall says that Jimmy Hart has backed the wrong horse if he thought coming back to wrestling management with Steve Williams was a good use of his twilight years. Hall says that's okay as after Fall Brawl he'll send Jimmy Hart back to the recording studio for good.

Jimmy Hart starts ranting and raving about how Scott Hall thinks he's god's gift to this industry but he's spent his whole career clinging onto more talented friends who have helped him politically. Hart says Hall only won the title through cheating and he's sure that Scott will try to cheat at Fall Brawl too, so Jimmy says, I've already taken the liberty of speaking with Eric Bischoff about the arrangements for the match at Fall Brawl.

Scott Hall looks annoyed and starts asking what he's talking about.

Jimmy Hart says Bischoff has given 'Dr Death' the chance to earn the stipulation at Fall Brawl. Hart says in tonight's main event it will be 'Dr Death' Steve Williams vs The Sandman!

Sandman looks pumped

Jimmy Hart goes on to say that if Steve Williams wins tonight then at Fall Brawl the main event will have all outside interference banned... with any outside interference resulting in a D-Q and in the event of a D-Q for outside interference, the title WILL be able to change hands!

Oh boy! says Lawler. That's one hell of a potential stipulation for 'Dr Death' says Arn Anderson.

Scott Hall looks furious in the ring. He starts shouting at The Sandman off the mic seeming to tell him he has to win that match in the main event.

'Dr Death' finishes the segment by staring down The Sandman and saying he'll see him later tonight!

We see a short clip of Joey Styles saying as the FX Consultant Producer for Panic! and now WCW generally, he's here to show you the footage that Shane McMahon doesn't want you to see!

We see a few short clips of Sabu defending the WCW United States Championship in his recent match in IWA Mid-South with Ian Rotten in a Barbed Wire match.

The clip then cuts out to Shane McMahon in the middle of the ring with Rob Van Dam behind him. Shane is holding a microphone looking annoyed up at the screen.

Shane says he knows Bill Alfonso, Sabu, Joey Styles and The Extreme Alliance might be trying to convince the world that Sabu is the recognised WCW United States Champion, but Shane says WCW does not recognise Sabu's reign. (mixed reaction from the crowd)

Shane says he has thought about what to do with the vacated WCW United States Championship, whether to hold a tournament for it, but since Rob Van Dam never officially lost the belt, in his eyes he thinks Rob Van Dam could very well still be the champion in many people's eyes. RVD looks a bit confused.

Shane says he is in the process of securing a new WCW United States Championship belt and it is his intention to award that belt to Rob Van Dam next week live on Nitro! (mixed reaction from the crowd)

RVD takes the mic from Shane McMahon and he says Shane, look I lost that belt to Sabu, I'm happy to help you win that belt back from him, trust me nobody wants that more than I do, but you can't just give me a belt and say I'm the champion! I don't want to win a belt in the wrong way like that!

WCW Booker T Theme (youtube.com)

Oh boy, says Tony Schiavone.

Booker T comes out with a microphone looking red hot. He makes his way to the ring and stands off against RVD a bit.

Booker T addresses RVD and says oh you don't want to win a belt in the wrong way, huh?! Well I didn't see you taking the moral high ground when I was still the United States Champion and your boy Alfonso ran me down so you had an easy ride to take that belt from me!

RVD on the mic says he had no idea that night that it was Fonzie who did that. RVD says he's a big believer in the universe, positive and negative energy, karma, and he thought that night the universe just wanted to him to win that belt. He thought someone else had targeted Booker T and yes whilst it seemed a bit of a cheap win, ultimately he could only control what he could control, Booker T was medically cleared and competing so what, was he meant to just take a dive and let Booker keep the belt?

Booker says he doesn't care about RVD's karma sutra or CPD induced delusions about the universe. Booker says he's still not sure if he can trust Van Dam but if there's one thing he does agree with him on is that he believes in Karma. Booker says KARMA IS A BITCH and Bill Alfonso's got a bucket load heading his way if I got anything to do with it!

Shane starts to tell Booker and RVD to calm down when the big screen suddenly shows Sabu, Bill Alfonso and the rest of The Extreme Alliance in a warehouse type background

Bill Alfonso says to Booker T that he's glad he ran him down and if he had the chance he'd do it all again!

Booker in the ring is furious at this. Booker starts demanding Alfonso to come down to the ring.

Alfonso says surely Booker's not stupid enough to think that's going to happen. Alfonso says Shane didn't believe that Sabu would go to IWA Mid-South to defend the WCW United States Championship, but unlike a McMahon, Sabu's word is good as gold, just like the gold that he's still holding.

Alfonso asks Shane if he's ready to meet their demands of Sabu, Alfonso, Dreamer and The Chair Swingin' Freaks getting WCW contracts

Shane McMahon says he won't be held hostage into meeting the demands of The Extreme Alliance. Shane says it doesn't matter if Sabu goes to some tiny indie company to defend the belt that he stole from WCW. Ian Rotten is Axl's brother anyway so he was probably in on the whole thing, it was just a trick to try and get concessions from me but it's not going to happen!

Rob Van Dam says he thinks he will be medically cleared by Friday, although we see he's still got a big strap on his ankle which Arn Anderson points out. RVD goes onto say that if Shane wants to make the match for him versus Sabu for the title vs contracts then he's willing to do it, but Shane shuts him down.

Sabu then says if you still won't negotiate then we will now proceed to the next part of our plan!

In the background Axl Rotten and Balls Mahoney lift up chairs with the Mexican flag on them.

We're going to Mexico, baby! shouts Tommy Dreamer

What?! asks Tony Schiavone.

Rob Van Dam, Booker T and Shane look confused in the ring.

Bill Alfonso says this Friday Night, we won't be at Panic! in Milwaukee, we'll be in Guadalajara, Jalisco, for CMLL Domingos de Coliseo... where it will be the WCW United States Champion, THE HOMICIDAL.... GENOCIDAL.... SUICIDAL... DEATH-DEFYING MANIAC....SABU..... putting his title on the line against SILVER KING!!!

VIVA LA MEXICO! says Sabu

In the ring we see a shocked and annoyed looking Shane, Booker and RVD.

On commentary Tony Schiavone says well folks at home for the less aware, far from being a tiny independent promotion, CMLL is the biggest wrestling promotion in all of Mexico and Sabu now plans on putting the WCW United States Championship on the line live at a CMLL show! Silver King, himself a former WCW star, is no joke and there's obviously a chance that Sabu could lose that belt, and hell I'm sure CMLL would love to get their hands on a belt as decorated as the WCW United States Championship!

A real tough decision for Shane McMahon, says Arn Anderson, as Jerry Lawler says why doesn't he just send some guys down to Mexico and take the belt back by force!

Match 2:

'The Natural' Dustin Rhodes (with Dusty Rhodes) vs Mark Jindrak (with Shawn Stasiak & Stacy Keibler)

OFFICIAL AEW ENTRANCE THEME | "THE NATURAL" DUSTIN RHODES (youtube.com)

Mark Jindrak 4th Titantron (2004-2005) (youtube.com)

Well folks, next up tonight we've got Dustin Rhodes in action against Mark Jindrak. Dustin a 12 year vet at this point in his career, Jindrak still just 2 years in the business, we're hearing he's taking extra classes at the Power Plant, he's a young guy who knows he's gotta work hard to get better at his craft and what better opportunity to showcase that tonight against 'The Natural'?

This match gets a nice amount of time and shows off both Rhodes and Jindrak. Rhodes gets more of the offence in but Jindrak is far from getting dominated and at various points looks like he might be able to sneak a win.

The ending of the match comes when Dustin Rhodes hits a Final Cut and seems to have the match won. Shawn Stasiak gets animated at ringside and tries to distract the referee. Dusty Rhodes isn't having any of it and comes over to Shawn Stasiak and stands up to him. Stasiak gets right in Dustin's face.

The ref tells them to stop arguing. In the distraction we see Mark Jindrak go for a roll-up on Dustin Rhodes, the ref quickly turns round and makes a 3 count but Dustin kicks out at 2.

Dustin then immediately hits a Canadian Destroyer on Mark Jindrak before getting the 1-2-3, with Stasiak looking annoyed at ringside.

Dustin Rhodes wins via pinfall - (10.04) - (57 rated)

-----

After the match Shawn Stasiak gets a mic and starts sarcastically congratulating Dustin Rhodes who is in the ring celebrating the victory with his father Dusty Rhodes.

Stasiak says it warms his heart to see father and son celebrating in the ring... he says he's heard all about how Dustin and Dusty have had their differences behind the scenes. He said he saw one interview where Dustin laughed at how at one point he hadn't spoke to his father in over a year.

Dustin and Dusty look a bit uncomfortable in the ring at this.

Stasiak says it must be nice Dustin, to be such an asshole to your father that you wouldn't speak to him in over a year. Do you know, I haven't spoken to my father in 4 years... because he's dead!

It makes me sick, Dustin, that you take your father for granted! That you have his wealth of experience, one of, if not THE most decorated wrestlers in the history of this business and what do you have to show for it? It's no wonder you're a disappointment to him!

Dustin looks pissed off, Dusty looks annoyed but also slightly uncomfortable now. Dustin starts shouting at him to come and get some if he wants some.

On the mic Stasiak says next week he wants to challenge a Rhodes to a match on Nitro... but not you Dustin... I want to face your father!

Dusty starts shouting back at Stasiak and agrees to the match much to Dustin's annoyance.

We see a clip of Dave Taylor working out in the gym which the commentators say is a clip from earlier today.

He sees O'Haire and Palumbo. He tells them he's a big fan of both of their work and all the effort they've both put in since graduating from the Power Plant. He wishes them both the best of luck in their match against Finlay and him later tonight. They thank him and keep working out.

Taylor then asks if one of them will spot him on the bench press. They say sure.

Taylor is bench pressing without too much issue with Palumbo helping him out.

Taylor goes up a weight and struggles a bit, Palumbo goes to help him out but O'Haire grabs him which stops him from helping Taylor immediately.

Palumbo shrugs him off and helps Taylor but the delay has caused Taylor some pain as he cries out.

Are you alright Dave? asks Palumbo as Dave Taylor sits up and says he needs to go see a doctor and get some ice.

In the ring we see JJ Dillon with Joe Hennig, Curt Hennig's 21 year old.

JJ Dillon says thanks Joe for joining us tonight. To those who don't know Joe Hennig, of course, son of Curt Hennig, what is it you do son?

Joe Hennig says well JJ, I recently graduated from North Hennepin Community College with an Associates of Science degree in Business Computer Systems and Management.

Wow, says JJ, that sounds very impressive!

Joe thanks JJ and says it's nothing really. I also enjoy Ice Fishing, Football, Fantasy Football of course and I've always loved pro wrestling too.

Any burning desire to follow in your father's footsteps and lace up some boots, son? asks JJ

Joe Hennig says of course I've always wanted to follow in my father and grandfather's footsteps in the ring, for now that's not where my path is, I'm looking to just keep my head down and make some money in a real job to provide for my family. But never say never and I'm sure one day I might get in the ring.

Well I can't wait to see it, says JJ. Now about your father, Joe, since he lost at Mayhem in that brutal cage match with his long-time friend and protégé, Scott Hall, he's not quite been himself, nobody can get hold of him and he's refusing to engage with WCW staff, fans, friends or even family like yourself. I'm sure he's disappointed at the loss, what would you say to him if he's listening tonight?

Joe says no matter what happens he's proud of his Dad. He says his Dad gave 100 percent, sure Scott Hall got in his head, but Joe says he's proud of the account his Dad gave of himself and that he can held his head up high.

WCW Buff Bagwell 4th Theme Song - "Buff Daddy" (With Tron) (youtube.com)

Wait a minute... Buff Bagwell? asks Tony. What's he doing out here?

Buff Bagwell comes strolling out with Buff Daddy V by his side. JJ and Joe Hennig in the ring look uncomfortable.

Buff Bagwell and Buff Daddy eventually get into the ring.

Buff grabs a mic and says to Joe "Look Kid, I get it... you're just trying to make your Daddy feel better, but I'm sure your Daddy didn't raise no liar. The fact is, Curt blew it at Mayhem. He has to live with that for the rest of his life. That he was good enough to win the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, but Scott Hall got in his head and he choked. Face the facts, kid, your Dad is a LOSER!"

Joe Hennig gets hot and you can see him looking to square off with Buff Bagwell, but Bagwell is much bigger than him and has the even bigger Buff Daddy V by his side.

Bagwell laughs at him and says "what, what's the Computer Systems nerd going to do against me, ehh? You're a loser, just like your father!" says Buff, before slapping Joe Hennig in the face who falls over.

Curt Hennig 2nd WCW Theme Alternate Version (youtube.com)

We see Curt Hennig dash down the ring with a steel chair in hand to protect his son.

Buff Bagwell gets out of the ring quickly to avoid him, but he's instructed Buff Daddy V to take him out.

Curt Hennig smashes the chair into Buff Daddy V several times who reels in pain before sort of falling out of the ring onto the outside.

Curt Hennig shouts at Bagwell before checking on Joe who seems annoyed and hurt by what's happened.

Match 3:

Lenny Lane & Lodi vs Team Canada (Lance Storm & Mike Awesome) (with Carl Ouellet)

Lance Storm WCW Titantron - "Team Canada" (youtube.com)

Lane & Lodi are already in the ring as Team Canada make their way to the ring with their WCW World Tag Team Championship belts

Well, says Tony, we're not sure exactly who will face them at Fall Brawl, looking at Dave Taylor's potential injury earlier in the gym I guess O'Haire & Palumbo would have to be favourites, but Team Canada can't worry too much about that now.

That's right, Tony, says Arn, who says they must focus on what's ahead of them tonight in this non-title match.

Lane & Lodi get a bit of offence in but it's a mostly dominant performance from the champions. They get the win when we see their new combination again, with Lance Storm hitting a super-kick on Lodi who then goes straight into an Awesome Bomb from Mike Awesome.

Team Canada win via pinfall - (7.34) - (61 rated)

---

After the match they briefly celebrate but then Storm is on the mic

Lance Storm says if he can be serious for a moment... Team Canada still has some unfinished business with Elix Skipper. Skipper needs to be humbled and this Friday on Panic! Team Canada will do just that, as Storm says they're putting out the challenge - Elix Skipper vs Carl Ouellet!

In Shane's office we see Eric Bischoff sitting in a wheelchair with Ricky 'The Dragon' Steamboat standing behind the wheelchair.

Across the other side of the office we see Sable and a disgruntled looking Chyna.

There's a few random well dressed people. One of them introduces himself as Bischoff's attorney and another introduces themselves as a legal adviser for WCW.

The WCW legal adviser says to Sable and Chyna that Mr Bischoff has suffered quite catastrophic injuries as a result of Chyna but he has agreed not to press charges against Sable, Chyna and WCW on one condition.

Chyna stands there looking non-plussed whilst Sable asks what the conditions are.

Bischoff says his condition is that Chyna is suspended from all in-ring activities for the entire month.

Sable says that's not fair, that would mean Chyna wouldn't be able to face Akira Hokuto for the WCW World Women's Championship at Fall Brawl.

The WCW attorney says, with respect, that's the least of Chyna and Sable's worries at this time.

Sable looks furious but resigned to defeat. She walks out of the office with Chyna and says Bischoff hasn't heard the end of this.

Thank you Gentleman, pleasure doing business with you says Bischoff, as he shakes the attorney's hands before they leave.

Steamboat says to Bischoff he thinks he's making a mistake, Chyna and Hokuto could be a great match, but Bischoff says Chyna has to pay for what she did, I might not walk for months!

Suddenly, all 3 of the MexiCruisers come into the office.

Juvi, Super Crazy and Psychosis say how 'Sexy' Brian Lawler and The Sons of the South cheated in the Battle Royale last week and that Lawler doesn't deserve to be #1 contender to the WCW World Cruiserweight Championship! Super Crazy and Psychosis were robbed, where's the justice round here?!

Bischoff says if they want justice they should get some attorneys. If not, then get your own justice!

The MexiCruisers look annoyed and leave Bischoff's office.

We see Torrie Wilson backstage with Billy Kidman and Shane Helms.

They are preparing her for her match tonight. Torrie says it's a huge opportunity for her to get a singles win and she's not going to let the threat of Vampiro and those freaks coming after her stop it.

Kidman says him and Helms will be at ringside to make sure she's safe and nothing will happen to her. Torrie says she will be fine, Kidman being over protective is just stressing her out. She goes to get a quick breath of fresh air out by a window.

Kidman says to Helms that he's sorry about the issues they had before. Kidman says he over-reacted and shouldn't have been such an asshole to Shane. He says he didn't trust him at the time, but now Helms has earned his trust. Helms seems genuinely pleased by this and says he just has to to the bathroom before the match and will see Kidman and Torrie out there.

We see Wilson chilling outside at a window ledge getting some air. She looks stressed and worried but also determined ahead of her match tonight.

She hears a noise. She jumps and looks scared.

Who is it? she asks, but nobody responds.

She looks worried again but then she looks up and she sees The Hurricane!

Hurricane! she says excitedly. I haven't seen you in a while.

Hey Torrie, says The Hurricane. I'm sorry, I've been real busy, there's a lot of trouble round these parts, lot of cats stuck up trees, you know the drill.

Torrie asks Hurricane if he'll be watching out for her tonight. She says she's worried about Vampiro and fReEk-sHoW!

Hurricane says she's right to be worried. They're some scary ass dudes. The Hurricane says he'll always look after Torrie, he says she's a beautiful girl and has a beautiful future in the women's division in WCW... he wishes her luck in the match tonight then disappears.

Match 4:

Cynthia Lynch vs Torrie Wilson (with Billy Kidman)

Torrie Wilson - Need A Little Time (Official Theme) (youtube.com)

Cynthia Lynch is already in the ring as we see Torrie Wilson come out with Billy Kidman but Shane Helms is nowhere to be seen. Kidman seems like he's looking around for Helms, when just as Wilson gets into the ring and stares off with Lynch the screen at the top of the ramp shows a commotion backstage.

We see Shane Helms being helped by medical staff outside of the men's bathroom backstage. He looks like he's been jumped and looks in a really bad way.

Schiavone says it doesn't look like Helms will be offering any support at ringside if that damned fReEk-sHoW! does show up tonight!

Kidman looks a bit concerned but tells Torrie to get on with the match.

The match itself is not too long as both of the women are still quite inexperienced and not really at that great of a level. Kidman offers advice to Wilson at various points throughout the match and eventually she manages to catch the unexpecting Lynch with a Tornado DDT to get the win!

Lynch looks quite hurt by this and sells the DDT bump quite hard, leading to the ref to check on her after the match.

Torrie Wilson wins via pinfall - (5.21) - (32 rated)

----

After the match Kidman raises Torrie's hand in victory and she looks happy with the win.

Twiztid - We Don't Die (Official Music video) (youtube.com)

We hear the fReEk-sHoW! theme and all of a sudden we see Vampiro jump in through the crowd and rAgE? yEs! and mOrE-bId! climb out from the under the ring.

Torrie looks terrified and Kidman stands in-front of her to protect her. The referee who was still looking at Lynch comes to stand them down but they pretend to attack the ref who looks so terrified he leaves the ring.

Vampiro, rAgE-yEs! and mOrE-bId! get in the ring and like a pack of dogs start taking down Kidman. He gets a few shots in but it's a 3 on 1 mugging, he can't do anything. Once he's down they look at Torrie Wilson and eye her up.

The Hurricane's 2003 Titantron Entrance Video feat. "Eye of the Hurricane v2" Theme [HD] (youtube.com)

Suddenly from out of nowhere we see The Hurricane who runs in from the top of the apron. mOrE-bId! goes after him but Hurricane smashes him with a fore arm. rAgE-yEs! is next, he gets out of the ring just as Hurricane gets to the bottom. He goes for The Hurricane but Hurricane counters, then hits a Chokeslam to him onto the floor on the outside.

In this distraction Kidman has bundled Torrie and himself out of the ring and they get behind The Hurricane who leads them to safety at the top of the entrance ramp.

They stare down at Vampiro and Vampiro mouths towards the trio that this is not over.

mOrE-bId! and rAgE-yEs! return to the ring in considerable pain licking their wounds.

Vampiro comforts the two of them.

The segment seems like it's going to end when suddenly Vampiro looks over at Cynthia Lynch who is still down in the ring.

He considers this and then signals to mOrE-bId! and rAgE-yEs?

Now wait a damn minute, says Tony! What sick plans do they have for poor Cynthia Lynch here?!

Vampiro pours his trademark pouch of Faygo over Cynthia Lynch so her face and blonde hair is covered in purple.

"Good God! says Tony.

The lights then go off.

When the lights come back on Vampiro, fReEk-sHoW! and Cynthia Lynch are gone.

My god! Tony says. What happened to Cynthia Lynch?! She's been taken, he says in despair. Lawler says she shouldn't have stopped working for her Pimp, this wouldn't have happened on The Godfather's watch!

We see Shane McMahon, Booker T and Rob Van Dam backstage

Shane, Booker T and RVD are talking about what they're going to do about The Extreme Alliance when suddenly DDP and Kanyon come in.

DDP says, Shane, me and Chris have been talking and we've got an idea. We got our own beef with The Extreme Alliance, we'd love to get our hands on them too, especially Chris here. Kanyon says he wants Shane to send DDP, Kanyon, Booker T and Rob Van Dam to Mexico this Friday Night!

Kanyon says if The Extreme Alliance wanna play silly games, then they'll get silly prizes, as this Friday night we'll storm the CMLL show and take back that WCW United States Championship by force!

Shane says he loves the idea. He says Rob Van Dam isn't medically cleared and he can't let him travel to Mexico, but he will book the tickets for Booker T, Kanyon and DDP. He says he's spoken to CMLL's owner who won't listen to him as they want the match on their show to sell tickets and potentially get the US title for their own.

Shane says DDP, Kanyon and Booker T should try and ambush them before the show begins or after it finishes.

DDP, Kanyon and Booker T reassure Shane that they won't let WCW down!

Match 5:

Saemon Daemon (with Djinni Parisi & Dawn-Macaria) vs Terry Funk (with Christopher Daniels)

Hades - Epic Music Orchestra for the God of the Underworld - Ancient Gods (youtube.com)

Before the match Dawn-Macaria cuts a promo where she says The Fugitive of Heaven who walks among you mere mortals will soon be brought back to where he belongs

Terry Funk's Titantron Entrance Video feat. ''Road To Texas'' Theme [HD] (youtube.com)

This match gets a decent amount of time.

Djinni Parisi keeps trying to get involved at ringside but Christopher Daniels prevents him from doing so.

Funk and Daemon have a good match with neither one really having the better of them Daemon has the superior speed and agility but Funk uses his experience to good use.

The end of the match comes when Dawn-Macaria gets on the apron and starts a demonic chant.

Jerry Lawler says she sounds like my ex-wife. Schiavone says he thinks Stevie Ray has already made that joke.

The ring apron launches fire pyro which causes Funk to be distracted and Saemon Daemon goes for a Fireman's Carry Inverted DDT, but Funk manages to counter out of it and he pushes Daemon back towards the ropes where he runs into Dawn-Macaria who he clatters into and she lands on the outside falling onto Djinni Parisi.

Daemon looks shocked at what's happened. He then turns around, gets kicked by Funk who then hits him with a massive DDT.

Funk goes for the pin and he gets it! 1-2-3! Funk is the winner!

Terry Funk wins via pinfall - (5.21) - (51 rated)

Well folks, says Tony, Dawn-Macaria and The Underworld tried their demonic tricks here tonight, but Terry Funk is no stranger to demonic tricks!

Damn right, Tony, says Jerry, he grew up in Amarillo!

In Shane's office we see a disgruntled looking Sable

Dave Taylor comes in with a pack of ice on his shoulder. Sable asks if he's okay, he says he's not medically cleared to compete tonight, accident in the gym. Sable says oh what does that mean for your tag team match tonight? Dave says it's okay, Bischoff has said Finlay can team with Tajiri tonight instead.

Sable says she wishes she had a ready made replacement for her WCW World Women's Championship match at Fall Brawl. With Chyna banned from competing for the rest of the month, her big match is ruined. She's had Akira Hokuto vs the best WCW has to offer, the best Japan has to offer and the best Mexico has to offer, she was looking forward to seeing a big clash between Akira Hokuto and the best the WWF had to offer...

Dave Taylor says to Sable that she shouldn't worry. When one door closes, another opens. Dave says he knows a woman in England who he can call for her. She's a fighting woman. A former British Champion. Just say the word and I'll get her down to TV next Wednesday.

Sable says she's willing to give this British woman a match next week on Nitro. If she can win it, then she will put her in the match against Akira Hokuto for the WCW World Women's Championship at Fall Brawl.

Taylor agrees.

Match 6:

Final of a Tag Team Tournament to determine the #1 Contenders to the WCW World Tag Team Championship at Fall Brawl

Fit's Fight Club (Fit Finlay & Tajiri) vs Sean O'Haire & Chuck Palumbo (with 'Sinister' James Mitchell)

Finlay's 2006 v2 Titantron Entrance Video feat. "Lambeg v2" Theme [HD] (youtube.com)

As Finlay and Tajiri come out Tony says how it seemed like Sean O'Haire tried to ensure Dave Taylor was injured and not able to compete in this match tonight. But Eric Bischoff let Fit's Fight Club have Tajiri fill in instead, do you think that's right given it was Finaly & Taylor who won at the Semi Final stage, Arn?

Arn Anderson said of course it's fair. They're a stable and if they choose to have a different man in a different round that's their perogative. Ultimately O'Haire thought he was going to be able to get them into a handicap match situation and it's backfired. That's life, son.

WWE: Chuck Palumbo & Sean O'Haire Theme "Freestyle Hombre" Download (youtube.com)

This match gets a decent amount of time with all 4 men getting to showcase themselves in this match. It's an even match and really seems like it could go either way with the fans perhaps rooting for Tajiri more than anyone else but where it's sort of a heel/vs heel match there's no clear favourite with the fans.

The conclusion of the match comes when O'Haire has Tajiri in the Widow Maker. It looks like the match is over when Tajiri manages to counter out of it and manages to spit Green Mist in O'Haire's eyes. O'Haire sells it like crazy and is in complete agony as he falls to his knees rubbing his eyes. Finlay charges into the ring and tackles Palumbo off the apron, before Tajiri hits a vicious Buzzsaw Kick to O'Haire before getting the victory.

'Sinister' James Mitchell looks annoyed watching on at ringside.

Fit's Fight Club win via pinfall - (9.30) - (62 rated)

A big win tonight for Fit's Fight Club says Tony on commentary as Finlay celebrates by lifting Tajiri up in the air. They will face Team Canada at Fall Brawl!

The Sons of the South Promo

'Sexy' Brian Lawler says that The MexiCruisers have been to see Joey Styles and got themselves a match with The Sons of the South this week on Friday.

If it's justice you want, amigos, then it's justice you will get! All 3 of us have been waiting for justice on our names and legacies since the day we were born, so on Friday we put some respect on our names!

David Flair and Erik Watts say people have under-estimated them for too long and on Friday they will show they're no pushovers and not to be ignored just like they did when they cost Super Crazy and Psychosis a shot at the WCW World Cruiserweight Championship!

As we come back from break Scott Hall is already at the announce desk for this match. Scott Hall cuts a promo where he says he has full faith in The Sandman doing what needs to be done and they've got a strategy.

Scott Hall says he doesn't fear death so he certainly doesn't fear 'Dr Death'

During this period we also see pre recorded promos from The Sandman and 'Dr Death' where both hype up the match and their chances of winning.

Match 7 / Main Event:

'Dr Death' Steve Williams (with Jimmy Hart) vs The Sandman

If 'Dr Death' wins, then at Fall Brawl, all outside interference will be banned and the WCW World Heavyweight Championship can be won by DQ if there is interference

AJPW Steve Williams 1st Theme Song - "I Love It Loud" (With 1st Tron) (RIP) (youtube.com)

'Dr Death' comes out with Jimmy Hart first and makes his way to the ring looking confident as he passes Scott Hall on the commentary desk at the entrance ramp

Sandman Theme (youtube.com)

The Sandman then comes out with his Singapore Cane which the announcers remind the fans he won't be able to use during this match as it's a regular singles match.

This match resembles more of a bar-room brawl than a wrestling match

The Sandman just wants a fight and 'Dr Death' seems more than willing to give him one.

Arn Anderson questions Scott Hall on the strategy of The Sandman doing this, as not many can go toe to toe with 'Dr Death' like that. Scott Hall says that's what Jim Ross thought, Arn, and look how that turned out! Jerry Lawler starts laughing at the Brawl For All reference.

'Dr Death' seems to have the better of The Sandman, who to his credit isn't going down but also is at a point in the match where he's surviving rather than putting in much offence himself.

Williams notices an opening and he hits a huge clothesline on The Sandman who hits the deck and rolls out of the ring. On the outside he looks in some bother.

Well, Champ, it looks like your boy is down! says Arn. Scott says he's not worried, Sandman knows the plan.

The ref starts to count out The Sandman as 'Dr Death' watches on.

The ref gets to 8 before The Sandman rolls into the ring and then immediately rolls back out of it.

Scott Hall then throws his headset down and gets on the entrance ramp and begins to slowly walk his way to the ring.

'Dr Death' loses concentration of The Sandman for a few seconds whilst noticing this and Jimmy Hart despite shouting can't quite get his attention before The Sandman races back into the ring and smashes into the back of Steve Williams with his Singapore Cane.

'Dr Death' hits the deck as the referee calls for the bell.

'Dr Death' Steve Williams wins via DQ - (6.21) - (63 rated)

Steve Williams is on the floor and once this happens The Sandman starts to target 'Dr Death's quad smashing it many many times with the Singapore Cane as Scott Hall looks on and laughs.

This looks like it was the plan all along! says Tony. I think Scott Hall knew The Sandman, especially still banged up, couldn't beat 'Dr Death' tonight, but he could beat him up! This will mean at Fall Brawl all interference will be banned with the title able to pass via DQ, but will 'Dr Death' even make it to Fall Brawl.

Scott Hall starts stomping on Williams' quad as Jimmy Hart is begging for some back-up.

Barry Windham 9th WCW Theme 'Road To Glory (Underscore)' (youtube.com)

Just as he does that Barry Windham and Mike Rotunda come pouring out the back and at seeing that Scott Hall and The Sandman see their moment to leave as they bail out the ring.

The show goes off air with Windham & Rotunda checking on 'Dr Death' who is smashing the ring mat and swearing in pain holding his quad that Scott Hall and The Sandman targeted.

Sean O'Haire head-loss at Nitro?!

Sean O'Haire Reportedly Went Through WWE-Sponsored Rehab Six Times In Six Years | crazymax.org

There was reportedly more drama backstage in WCW this week as this time it was Sean O'Haire's turn to express his unhappiness at Shane McMahon's booking. Sean O'Haire and Chuck Palumbo were booked to come up just short to Fit's Fight Club this week, with the story being that O'Haire tried to cheat their way through by purposely letting Dave Taylor blow out his shoulder at the gym earlier in the show. Rather than get a bye or have Finlay compete in a handicap match, Bischoff agreed that Tajiri could take Taylor's place and it was Tajiri, thanks in part to some Poison Mist, who got the big win for Fit's Fight Club.

Sean O'Haire was reportedly very unhappy at this booking. It is said that at one point the Road Agent involved in the match, Terry Funk, even offered to change the ending of the match so Palumbo took the fall and O'Haire was still kept strong, but O'Haire was still very unhappy and said it was more that he didn't think Tajiri and Fit Finlay should be going over him and Palumbo.

This is not thought to have gone down well with Funk, Shane McMahon or other backroom officials at WCW given Tajiri is a highly thought of young talent and Fit Finlay is a respected veteran performer who is also a road agent and part of Shane's inner circle of experienced guys in the back.

Shane does highly rate Sean O'Haire as a potential future talent, but he's reportedly pretty unhappy with how O'Haire behaved this week on Nitro. It is thought this loss is part of O'Haire and Palumbo's ongoing storyline but O'Haire couldn't look past the loss.

This adds to the woes Shane has suffered in recent weeks, with both Kanyon and Hugh Morrus also both getting angry and unhappy about how they've been booked. Shane is thought to have laughed at one point to a trusted adviser and said how his expectation of coming to WCW would be that he'd have loads of problems with the big stars, like Scott Hall, Booker T and DDP, but in actual fact it's been the younger talent and mid-card guys who could potentially one day be big stars who have been giving him all the drama about how they're being booked.

Sean O'Haire, much like Kanyon and Hugh Morrus, is now thought to be a marked man by Shane, whilst he highly rates both O'Haire and Kanyon so he will show them a little leeway, he isn't keen on the idea of handing out big pushes to guys who will then bitch and moan every time they're not booked to win a match. It is thought that Shane ensured Sean O'Haire took the pin in this match as a result of his actions on Nitro.

Wait, wait.

I've just discovered after like 6 months of posting on here that I was accidentally on Dark Mode the whole time 🤣

This looks much better.

One of the main reasons I've never bothered "bolding" matches and stuff on here is because it never really seemed to look that much different anyway so I thought it was a waste of time. I thought the BeTheBooker site layout for that sort of stuff looked much more aesthetically friendly.

I might go back and bold all of the matches and other stuff now for anyone else who comes along and reads this so it's easier to skim 😅

Live late-night on FX

7,283 crowd from Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Announcers: Joey Styles, Scott Hudson & Stevie Ray

-------------------------------------

Show opens up with Sum 41's 'Fat Lip'

Fat Lip (youtube.com)

Joey Styles on commentary welcomes fans to Friday Night Panic! live in Wisconsin! We've got a jam packed show for you tonight live on FX! Steve Corino's Open Challenge returns to Friday Night Panic! in tonight's Main Event, we've also got 6 man tag-team action as The Sons of the South take on The MexiCruisers, plus 'Prime Time' Elix Skipper takes on Team Canada's Carl Ouellet and we have Chavo Guerrero Jr taking on La Parka!

And that's not all Joey! says Scott Hudson, as Roddy Piper has a sit down interview with The Nu Road Warriors following their disappointing fall down the card after losing the WCW World Tag Team Championship belts at Mayhem, plus we get an update on Rob Van Dam's medical condition and we'll hear from Shane McMahon about what we can expect with the ongoing situation with Sabu, The Extreme Alliance and the WCW United States Championship... but we're kicking things off with 'Prime Time' Elix Skipper and Carl Ouellet!
-----

Match 1:

Carl Ouellet (with Mike Awesome) vs 'Prime Time' Elix Skipper (with Kid Romeo)

Lance Storm WCW Titantron - "Team Canada" (youtube.com)

Carl Ouellet comes out with Mike Awesome and Lance Storm who hold the WCW World Tag Team Championship belts. Awesome goes down to the ring with Ouellet whilst Lance Storm heads to the commentary desk.

The announcers welcome Lance Storm who says if he can be serious for one moment it's great to be with you guys tonight to watch Carl Ouellet teach that Small Time Skipper a lesson tonight.

WCW THEMES: Elix Skipper "Primetime Elix Skipper" (youtube.com)

Skipper is presented as a considerable under-dog in this match with it being clear early on that Carl Ouellet has the power and size advantage. Skipper makes use of his superior speed and agility but it's clear he's got his work cut out for him.

Awesome and Kid Romeo clash at ringside but not to the extent that either are chucked out.

The match comes to a conclusion when Carl Ouellet has Skipper down and he goes to the top rope.

What's he gonna try here?! asks Joey.

Carl Ouellet goes for a moonsault but Skipper just manages to dodge out the way as Ouellet comes crashing down to the canvas.

That's gonna hurt in the morning! exclaims Stevie Ray

Ouellet is struggling to his feet when Skipper hits him with an Overdrive!!

The referee counts...1...2...3!!!

Elix Skipper wins via pinfall - (4.52) - (43 rated)

----

A huge win for Elix Skipper tonight! says Scott Hudson, as Skipper celebrates in the ring and Lance Storm throws off his headset in disappointment.

Skipper and Romeo celebrate but Mike Awesome immediately enters the ring and starts fighting them. Ouellet eventually gets to his feet and then Storm is in the ring too.

It's a 3 on 2 mugging! says Scott Hudson. Someone should do something about this!

Finlay's 2006 v2 Titantron Entrance Video feat. "Lambeg v2" Theme [HD] (youtube.com)

Suddenly we see Fit Finlay and Tajiri, alongside Dave Taylor who has a heavily patched up shoulder.

Finlay and Tajiri charge down the ring and start brawling with Team Canada, eventually clearing the ring of Ouellet and Awesome, as Storm slides out of danger and looks up at them furiously shouting as Finlay and Tajiri challenge them to get back in the ring.

The number 1 contenders for their tag team titles have caused some real issues for Team Canada tonight, says Scott Hudson.

We see Rob Van Dam in Shane McMahon's office

RVD is telling Shane that he's been medically cleared to compete next week. He says he thinks next week on Nitro is the time to book him against Sabu to get that WCW United States Championship back to WCW where it belongs

Shane says he will wait and see what happens tonight in Mexico. Booker T, DDP and Kanyon might get the title back anyway, in which case I will put the US Championship up for grabs and you'll get the first shot at it, says Shane.

RVD seems happy enough with this when Jimmy Hart comes in

Jimmy Hart says he understands why Shane is so upset and concerned about the WCW United States Championship situation, but he believes Shane has dropped the ball with the WCW World Heavyweight Championship.

Jimmy Hart says Shane has let Scott Hall and that bastard The Sandman make a mockery of the top title in WCW. They stole it from Booker T in that Triple Threat match and now Scott Hall has deliberately injured 'Dr Death' because he's scared of facing him at Fall Brawl. Jimmy Hart says there being no outside interference and the title being able to change hands via DQ is no good if 'Dr Death' can't compete. His quad is banged up, it's real tough and go if he can even make it to next week's TV, let alone Fall Brawl!

Shane tells Jimmy to calm down. Shane says he hasn't forgotten about Scott Hall. He says what happened on Nitro wasn't acceptable and Hall and The Sandman should be punished. Shane says next week on Nitro it will be Scott Hall and The Sandman vs Barry Windham & Mike Rotunda, plus, if 'Dr Death' is fit for TV next week, as punishment for what they did last week, Shane is willing to add Steve Williams to that match and make it a handicap match!

Jimmy Hart looks pleased with this and walks off looking a bit happier.

April Hunter interview with Sean O'Haire and Chuck Palumbo

April Hunter says to O'Haire and Palumbo it was a tough loss on Dynamite to Fit's Fight Club. It means you won't get a shot to win back the WCW World Tag Team Championship, where do you go from here?

Chuck Palumbo starts to speak but Sean O'Haire stops him before he can get started.

Sean O'Haire says Fit's Fight Club entered the tournament with Finlay and Taylor. Taylor hurt himself trying to ego lift at the gym, then we find out they can just shove another guy in? They can just put Tajiri in, just like that? How's that right, April, look I'm not telling you anything you don't already know, but you're a smart girl, how do you figure that?

April Hunter says it's not her job to answer the questions

O'Haire says he gets that, you're a broadcast journalist, but what you gotta question April is your bosses here at WCW are paying you and telling you to ask us these questions right? The narrative is that we lost again, downward spiral etc, but I put it to you Ms Hunter that this is another example of WCW under Shane McMahon screwing over guys like us!

Hunter asks Palumbo if he agrees with this

Palumbo goes to answer but O'Haire cuts him off again. This time Palumbo gets hot with him and looks like he's ready to argue, when suddenly Barry Windham and Mike Rotunda come into set.

O'Haire and Palumbo stop fighting and stare down Windham & Rotunda

Barry Windham asks if they're giving April a hard time. She says no no it was okay, really, they're just annoyed they lost.

Windham says he's tired of hearing O'Haire and Palumbo moan, complain and come up with excuses. Windham says they're both young guys who will only get better with time yet they just keep moaning. Windham says they're going to lose matches in their career, they're going to win tag team or singles gold and then lose it, that's wrestling. Windham says in his career he's won Tag Team gold 17 different times, but look at my waist, do I have any gold? No, that means I lost Tag Team gold 17 times in my career too! It happens, you just need to move on and get over it.

Palumbo looks placated by this but O'Haire says he's sick of old timers like Barry Windham and Mike Rotunda clogging up the card when it's young guys like him who are the future of this company.

Mike Rotunda says he better watch his mouth or they'll show him just who's clogging up the card!

The MexiCruisers (Juventud Guerrera, Super Crazy and Psychosis) vs The Sons of the South ('Sexy' Brian Lawler, Erik Watts & David Flair)

Mexicools - theme and Titantron Video (youtube.com)

WCW Erik Watts Theme "Grid-Iron Train " (youtube.com)

In this match Juvi, Super Crazy and Psychosis are very animated and agitated by what happened in the Crusierweight Battle Royale. They're very aggressive and keen to inflict damage on their opponents, whilst Lawler, Watts and Flair are a bit more calm and collected.

The end of the match comes about when Super Crazy hits a Moonsault dive onto a pack of Juvi, Psychosis, Watts and Flair on the outside taking them all out.

He then gets back into the ring and continues to fight with the other legal man, 'Sexy' Brian Lawler. When the ref isn't looking Lawler pokes Super Crazy in the eye and then hits a Full Nelson Facebuster to get the win.

'Real Talk' with Roddy Piper and The Nu Road Warriors

Road Warrior Animal and Road Warrior Dog are sat down not looking too happy

Roddy Piper says you two boys were champions not long ago. Where did it all fall apart, do you think it's because you're still inexperienced as a tag team?

Animal says it's very rare any team ever starts out as Tag Team champions thrown together like they were. Sure they're both experienced tag team guys, but it was always going to be tough to learn on the job.

Dog says he agrees. He thinks they did well, he's disappointed they lost the belts and lost the chance to get a rematch this time around, but he thinks they will be fine.

Piper asks Animal about a mistake with the finish in the last few matches. Do you think you could have won these matches with Hawk instead of Dog?

Animal says 100 percent, with Hawk by his side instead they would've definitely won both of these matches.

BG James gets annoyed at this. He says oh right I see it Animal, you blame me for these losses huh?

Animal says he doesn't blame Dog, just that the chemistry isn't there yet. He had perfect chemistry with Hawk, they're a new team now, that's fine, but they're not going to be perfect.

BG James is still not happy and he says well if you think it's my fault we lost the last two matches... maybe you should find a new partner!

Road Warrior Dog storms out of the interview.

Piper looks surprised.

Animal looks annoyed and then goes off after his tag-team partner.

Chavo Guerrero Jr vs La Parka

WCW Chavo Guerrero Last Theme (youtube.com)

WCW La Parka 1st Theme Song - "Parental Advisory: Explicit Acts" (With Tron) (youtube.com)

Well next up in action tonight we've got Chavo Guerrero Jr and La Parka, says Joey Styles. Chavo recently lost out on the WCW World Cruiserweight Championship, this is a chance tonight go get back some form for him. But also a big opportunity for La Parka to get a statement win.

This is a good match that gets a decent amount of time. Both guys get in an even amount of offence with La Parka possibly having the better of it.

The end of the match comes when La Parka goes for a Spear but Chavo ducks out of the way. La Parka clatters into one of the corners then when groggy he turns around and Chavo hits a Gory Bomb to get the win.

Chavo Guerrero Jr wins via pinfall - (7.50) - (58 rated)

Curt Hennig promo

Curt Hennig cuts a promo where he says he's not been happy in the last few weeks. He let Scott Hall get in his head and that cost him the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. He will have to live with that mistake forever, but that's okay.

What's not okay is Buff Bagwell putting his hands on my family! Buff, you bastard, you think you can get in the ring with my son and slap him around?! I don't think so!

Now I'm sure you're a coward so you won't show up next week on Nitro, but if you want a fight, a real fight, to settle whatever weird beef we've had for a few months here, then I'll be there, ready and waiting for you! Bring that big dumb guy you call a bodyguard in Buff Daddy V too if you like, it don't matter to me, the more the merrier!

I got a lot of anger and frustration to take out and you boys have just put your names to the top of the list!

We see Chavo Guerrero Jr coming into the curtain after his win. He looks pleased.

Disco Inferno appears in shot and gives Chavo a congratulations. He tells him it was a great match, a great win. Disco says they could do great things together and gives him his business card.

Chavo looks at it, kind of laughs, but then puts it in his pocket before walking off.

ECW Steve Corino Custom Titantron (youtube.com)

Well folks, says Joey, you know what time it is!

Steve Corino comes to the ring with Don Callis and his WCW FXtreme Television Championship

Joey Styles reminds viewers of the Steve Corino Open Challenge rules:

If the competitor was a former WCW World Television Champion the match will take place under standard rules.

If they were the WCW World Hardcore Champion or ECW Television Champion it will be under NO-DQ rules.

If the competitor has been WCW World TV and the Hardcore or ECW TV champion as well, then it is dealer's choice and they can choose.

Steve Corino gets a mic and says Kid Kash, I know you were the ECW TV champion, so if you ain't a little coward, why don't you get on out here and face me under NO-DQ rules! You thought you'd cost me a shot at the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, well tonight I'll cost you a shot at ever looking at your head in the mirror without seeing a giant scar that reminds you that I'm better than you!

Kid Kash's 2005 Titantron Entrance Video feat. "Kash Money" Theme [HD] (youtube.com)

Kid Kash comes out with Jamie Knoble and he's looking angry and up for a fight

-------

Main Event / Match 4:

The Steve Corino Open Challenge - Steve Corino (c) (with Don Callis) vs Kid Kash (with Jamie Knoble) for the WCW FXtreme Television Championship - NO-DQ match

This match is just over 8 minutes of pure carnage. Steve Corino is hell bent on destruction in this match and he fights Kid Kash all over the outside. There are numerous times the ref is counting them both out and Kid Kash or Corino break up the count.

Kid Kash does get some offence in with a few high flying moves including even a cross body onto Don Callis and Jamie Knoble when they're having a bit of an argument. This really angers Don Callis who ends up smashing Jamie Knoble with a steel chair which causes medics to have to remove him from ringside.

The end of the match comes after Corino has busted Kash open with a few stiff punches, Kash gets a second wind seeing his own blood, he makes a few counters but then when Kid Kash has Steve Corino primed for a Money Maker, Corino counters out of it, hits a stiff elbow to Kid Kash and then when Kid Kash is grounded Corino puts Kash in a Crossface Chicken-Wing. The pressure on his face that's already bleeding is too much and Kash immediately taps out. Corino leaves it locked in much longer than needed to further punish Kash.

Steve Corino wins via submission - (8.21) - (66 rated)

---

Don Callis eventually gets into the ring and we see Steve Corino celebrating with his WCW FXtreme Television Championship belt and he show appears to be going off air, when suddenly the camera cuts and we see live footage of what looks like the outside of an arena.

Scott Hudson and Stevie Ray get very excited as we see it's live footage of Booker T, DDP and Kanyon in Mexico outside the arena where The Extreme Alliance are planning to get Sabu to defend the WCW United States Championship on at a CMLL event.

Booker T, DDP and Kanyon seem to see Sabu and Alfonso, DDP says they should wait, but Kanyon is keen to push on and Booker T loses it at seeing Alfonso, the man who run him down and left him hurt for so long.

Booker T and Kanyon make haste for Sabu and Alfonso but just as they do so we see Tommy Dreamer, Axl Rotten and Balls Mahoney come out of nowhere with steel chairs and Dreamer has a baseball bat. They clash with Kanyon and Booker T, then DDP runs over to get involved and it's a 3 on 3 brawl.

MY GOD WHAT ARE SEEING HERE?! asks Scott, as Stevie Ray is shouting encouragement at Booker T and the others.

Eventually we see venue security and what seems like Mexican police arrive on the scene.

Well folks says Joey Styles, we're going off the air real soon but I'm sure we'll have an update for you on this ongoing situation next week live on Nitro!

Sabu defends the WCW United States Championship live on CMLL!

CMLL fans were treated to a "forbidden door" type match on Friday night as Sabu, who Shane McMahon and WCW claim is not the recognised WCW United States Champion, defending the belt that's in his possession against former WCW wrestler and current CMLL star, Silver King.

On Friday Night Panic! we saw footage indicating that Booker T, DDP and Kanyon had tried to ambush the show to steal back the WCW United States Championship currently in Sabu's possession, but they were met outside the venue by Tommy Dreamer, Balls Mahoney and Axl Rotten before a combination of venue security and Mexican police were forced to separate them.

Nitro Episode 20:

Wednesday 12 September 2001

Live late-night on FX

8,300 crowd from El Paso County, Colorado

Announcers: Tony Schiavone, Jerry 'The King' Lawler & Arn Anderson

-----------------------------------------------

Before the show we see a tribute to the victims of 9/11 which happened the day before. Shane McMahon does a pre-recorded promo where he says all of WCW is shocked and horrified by the events that happened yesterday. Shane says the show tonight will go ahead here in Colorado and viewed by millions as a tribute and proof that the American spirit will not be defeated by any hostile group.

Show opens up with the U.S National Anthem

US National Anthem by the Academy Choirs (youtube.com)

Tony Schiavone on commentary quite subdued says it's Wednesday night folks and we're privileged and honoured to be able to present a live wrestling show to both our audience here in Colorado and viewers across the country and the world. The show must go on.

Jerry Lawler says that's right Tony, we're here tonight in the The Centennial State and we've got a lot of wrestling on show tonight.

That's right, Jerry, says Tony, we've got tag team action as The Nu Road Warriors go up against Buff Enuff, we have a huge 6 man tag team match which will see Team Canada take on Fit's Fight Club, plus Sable has confirmed the new #1 contender for the WCW World Women's Championship will be decided tonight. Our Main Event tonight also sees WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Scott Hall, team up with The Sandman in a Handicap match against Barry Windham, Mike Rotunda and Hall's opponent at Fall Brawl, 'Dr Death' Steve Williams...

Arn Anderson then says, but to start things off tonight, we've got a real legend of the business, WCW Hall of Famer, Dusty Rhodes, is in singles action against Shawn Stasiak!

-----

Match 1:

Dusty Rhodes (with Dustin Rhodes) vs Shawn Stasiak (with Stacy Keibler & Mark Jindrak)

Dusty Rhodes - The Pursuit 2 (By: Steve Martin) (NWA Pro Wrestling Entrance Theme 1987-1988) (youtube.com)

WCW Shawn Stasiak 4th Theme Song - "Stasiak Theme" (With Tron) (youtube.com)

Dusty and Dustin Rhodes come out. Dusty has an American flag and looks up for the match to open the show tonight.

The match starts off with Shawn Stasiak very aggressive and channelling his anger from last week's promo into the match. Dusty looks good but he's clearly past his best.

Dustin at ringside looks concerned about his Father in the match but Dusty is determined to get the win.

As the match goes on Stasiak's aggression means he actually busts Dusty's face open a bit.

The match comes to an end when Jindrak tries to interfere, but Dustin Rhodes sees him off, this still distracts a bleeding Dusty though who loses focus for a moment and then Shawn Stasiak hits an Inverted DDT Meat Grinder for the win.

Shawn Stasiak wins via pinfall - (7.06) - (40 rated)

---

After the match Dustin Rhodes gets in the ring to check on his father, but he then gets beaten down by Stasiak and Jindrak.

Stasiak then grabs a mic

Shawn Stasiak says The Rhodes Family legacy in WCW is coming to an end. Shawn says he will put the Stasiak name on the map. All great dynasties in the history of the world took their place at the table with other people's blood, Stasiak then rubs some of Dusty's blood from his face onto Stasiak's own face like war point.

Stasiak says by the time he's finished with Dustin Rhodes he'll be finished in this business. Like father, like son.

Freestyle segment with Shawn Stasiak, Mark Jindrak & Dustin and Dusty Rhodes - (55 rated)

----

Shane's office

We see Shane McMahon in his office on the phone to someone when suddenly Scott Hall and The Sandman burst in, Shane quickly ends the call.

Scott Hall says Shane must be out of his mind booking a handicap match in tonight's main event. Scott Hall says he deserves more respect as the biggest star and the champion of this company

Shane McMahon say Scott has shown nothing but contempt for both WCW and Shane since joining the company as it's biggest earner. Shane says Scott and The Sandman conspired to injure 'Dr Death' at the end of last week's Nitro, so it's only fair that they face punishment for that in the main event

The Sandman butts in and says Shane is obviously still bitter about the time he chocked him out like a little bitch in front of millions on PPV!

Shane gets hot at this and says he's not forgotten about The Sandman either and one of these days The Sandman will get what's coming to him!

The Sandman gets very angry and says from who Shane? From you? Give me a break you little bitch!

Shane gets angry at this as Scott Hall laughs. Shane tells them both to get out of his office immediately.

Scott Hall laughs and says come on Jimmy it's time to go we'll deal with him another day.

Freestyle segment with Shane McMahon, The Sandman and Scott Hall - (82 rated)

Match 2:

DDP & Kanyon vs The Harris Brothers

TNA: 2005 Harris Brothers Theme (Big Twins) (youtube.com)

Kanyon (youtube.com)

WCW DDP Theme Song Self High Five (youtube.com)

Well folks says Tony, next up we have DDP & Kanyon in tag-team action fresh off their unsuccessful trip to Mexico to try and get the WCW United States Championship back.

I think both DDP & Kanyon have come here looking for a fight tonight, Tony, says Arn, as the match gets underway.

The Harris Brothers brawl with both DDP and Kanyon, but DDP and Kanyon have too much for the Big Twins as they take out their frustration from last week's fight with The Extreme Alliance on Don and Ron.

The match comes to a close when Kanyon hits a Flatliner on Ron Harris for the win

DDP & Kanyon win via pinfall - (6.09) - (62 rated)

After the match DDP and Kanyon both pose in the ring with the suggestion from the announce team that they've got unfinished business with The Extreme Alliance

---

Backstage we see Sable in her office

Dave Taylor comes in with his shoulder still wrapped. Dave says he's brought over the British Women's Champion he told her about. We see a woman come into shot who he introduces as Sweet Saraya.

Sweet Saraya says she's not here to take part, she's here to take-over!

Sable shakes her hand and then says she's willing to give Sweet Saraya a chance to become #1 contender for the WCW World Women's Championship, but she will have to earn it. Later tonight there will be a 5-way women's match featuring Meiko Satomura, Malia Hosaka, Stacy Keibler, Torrie Wilson... and Sweet Saraya... who ever gets a pinfall or submission first will face Akira Hokuto at Fall Brawl for the title!

Sweet Saraya says cheers Dave, I won't let you down.

Freestyle segment with Sable, Dave Taylor & Sweet Saraya - (56 rated)

JJ Dillon interview with Booker T

JJ Dillon asks Booker T if his trip to Mexico was a success

Booker T says he got his hands on some of The Extreme Alliance, but they didn't quite get the ass kicking that they deserve.

And as for you... BILL ALFONSO!! Booker T says I ain't forgotten about you Billy Boy, you stupid skinny bitch... you can run from me, Alfonso, but you can't hide forever! And one of these days I'm going to shove that damn whistle of yours so far up your ass that you're gonna need a colonoscopy if you ever want to see it again!

Jerry Lawler on commentary laughs at this.

JJ Dillon looks a bit uncomfortable and then asks Booker T what his plans are for the rest of the night

What are my plans JJ? asks Booker. Since I can't get my hands on Alfonso, or Sabu, or any of those other Extreme Assholes, then I'm gonna have to take some frustration out on somebody else. So I'm putting out a challenge to anybody on the WCW roster, anyone in the back, you want to make a name for yourself by going toe to toe with a FOUR TIME... FOUR TIME... FOUR TIME...FOUR TIME... WCW World Heavyweight Champion? Then tonight's the night for you to STEP UP!!

Freestyle segment with JJ Dillon and Booker T - (100 rated)

---

Before this match we see a quick promo package where Lance Storm says Team Canada will show Fit's Fight Club how they fight in Canada.

Match 3:

Fit's Fight Club (Fit Finlay & Tajiri) & Elix Skipper vs Team Canada (Lance Storm, Mike Awesome & Carl Ouellet)

Well, folks, this match has come about after an altercation last week on Panic! The challenge was made to Fit's Fight Club for a 6 man match, however, with Dave Taylor still not medically cleared to compete, it's 'Prime Time' Elix Skipper, who Fit's Fight Club saved from a Team Canada beat-down who has stepped up to be the 3rd man in their team tonight.

WCW THEMES: Elix Skipper "Primetime Elix Skipper" (youtube.com)

Finlay's 2006 v2 Titantron Entrance Video feat. "Lambeg v2" Theme [HD] (youtube.com)

Lance Storm WCW Titantron - "Team Canada" (youtube.com)

This match sees simmering tensions blow over between Team Canada and Fit's Fight Club ahead of the WCW World Tag Team Championship match coming up at the PPV. Elix Skipper spends a lot of the match getting worked on by all 3 members of Team Canada but Finlay eventually gets the hot tag and starts doing some damage.

Tajiri then gets tagged in and gets some drop-kicks and normal kicks in as well. Eventually Awesome gets tagged in and after some power moves to Tajiri he tags back in Skipper.

The end of the match comes when Tajiri and Finlay are caught up fighting Awesome and Ouellet and Lance Storm manages to get Skipper in a Canadian Maple Leaf and Skipper is forced to tap out much to Storm's pleasure.

Team Canada wins via submission - (6.39) - (62 rated)

After the match Storm won't let go until Finlay and Tajiri storm the ring.

Team Canada stand proud at the end of the segment staring down Finlay and Tajiri.

----

We see The MexiCruisers in a pre-recorded promo

Super Crazy says The Sons of the South must be crazy! because they think they can mess with us and not get dealt with!

Juvi says 'Sexy' Brian Lawler thinks he can play dirty to get the win against a Mexican! That's not how we roll, Ese!

Psychosis says next week, live on Friday Night Panic!, Super Crazy and Psychosis, we challenge you, The Sons of the South, to a no-disqualification match!

/

We see another pre-recorded promo where 'Sexy' Brian Lawler says they can play dirty against anyone they want. David Flair says his Father is the dirtiest player in the game! Erik Watts says if it's a no-disqualification tag team match that Psychosis and Super Crazy want, next week, live on Panic? Then the only people panicking should be you amigos!

Freestyle segment with The MexiCruisers and The Sons of the South - (56 rated)

Jason Jett is in the ring with a microphone

Jason Jett says since he came to WCW he hasn't quite got the respect that he deserves. But that's all about to change now. You see folks I am the man who stopped Booker T! The 4 time WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Booker T, in the year 2001 I am UNDEFEATED against him! He can't handle me!

Jett gets booeed and then he says that Booker T went toe to toe with me and he couldn't get the job done. How many other guys on this roster can say fair and square they fought Booker T and didn't come up short? Well I think it's about time people started talking about me as the future of this company. I think it's about time that

WCW Booker T Theme (youtube.com)

Jett looks quite concerned at seeing Booker T

Booker T on a mic says "you think you're the future of this company, kid? You think I can't handle YOU?! You about to learn, son!"

A referee comes out and despite Jason Jett seeming to protest the announcers indicate that this match has now been made official.

Freestyle segment with Jason Jett and Booker T - (61 rated)

---

Match 4:

Booker T vs Jason Jett

Well folks, says Tony, whilst Jett is correct that he has an undefeated record against Booker T, it was of course the unusual scenario of the Beat The Clock challenge where Jett simply had to last 39 seconds to avoid defeat.

Jerry Lawler pipes in and asks Tony if he thinks he could last 39 seconds against Booker T?! Lawler praises Jett, he says, you know what Tony, maybe this kid IS the future of this company!

Booker T immediately starts clobbering Jason Jett as soon as the bell goes. Jett tries to duck and dive out of the way but Booker is like a man possessed.

It's not long before Booker T hits a Book-End on Jett and goes for the pin.

1-2-3! He's got him!

Booker T wins via pinfall - (0.37) - (58 rated)

---

The announcers hype up how if Booker T had beaten Jason Jett with this time a few weeks ago he would've won the Beat The Clock challenge.

Suddenly the big screen crackles and we see Sabu, Bill Alfonso and The Extreme Alliance on the big screen

Bill Alfonso says "Booker! Oh hey champ, or well, you're not a champ anymore, no thanks to me, but hello how you are you, or I should we say, konnichiwa?"

Booker T looks angry and confused

Alfonso says there's no need to be confused Booker. It's Japanese. That's the joke. You see, hot off our tails of victory in CMLL in Mexico, everyone in the world wants to get Sabu and the WCW United States Championship on their show!

And so this Friday Night, right here in Sendai, Tohoku, Japan, live for New Japan Pro Wrestling, Sabu will put his WCW United States Championship on the line once again -  this time against Chris Candido!

What?! says Jerry Lawler.

Sabu signs off the promo by saying Shane McMahon knows what our demands are

Freestyle segment with The Extreme Alliance and Booker T - (74 rated)

----

JJ Dillon interview with Rob Van Dam

JJ says we just heard from Sabu and The Extreme Alliance, Sabu is set to defend his title this time in New Japan on Friday. What's your immediate response to that, Rob?

RVD says Sabu and Alfonso are clearly trying to get Shane's attention and to force WCW into giving them what they want. Van Dam says the fact of the matter is that he's now fully fit, medically cleared and so WCW fans shouldn't worry because sooner rather than later Mr Wednesday Night Rob-Van-Dam will be taking back that WCW United States Championship.

JJ says fans will be delighted to hear you're medically cleared again

RVD says that's right JJ and this Friday Night on Panic! I will show the WCW fans and Shane McMahon that I'm ready to take that title back from Sabu!

Freestyle segment with JJ Dillon and Rob Van Dam - (92 rated)

Match 5:

5 Way Women's Match to determine the #1 Contender to the WCW World Women's Championship

Malia Hosaka (with Terry Taylor) vs Meiko Satomura vs Stacy Keibler (with Shawn Stasiak) vs Sweet Saraya (with Dave Taylor) vs Torrie Wilson (with Billy Kidman)

Akira Hokuto 4th - Pacific Zone (WCW Official Theme) (youtube.com)

Before the match the WCW World Women's Champion, Akira Hokuto, comes out to join commentary with 'Sinister' James Mitchell

Malia Hosaka 4th - Mega Panic (WCW Official Theme) (youtube.com)

Meiko Satomura - "My Own Destiny" (NXT UK THEME) (youtube.com)

Stacy Keibler WWE Theme - Legs (youtube.com)

Saraya Knight SHIMMER Theme 'Faint' (youtube.com)

Torrie Wilson - Need A Little Time (Official Theme) (youtube.com)

Well folks, there's 5 women in the ring and only 1 of those can go to Fall Brawl to challenge Akira Hokuto. Akira, who would you most like to face?

Hokuto says she doesn't care.

'Sinister' James Mitchell than says there's some women we know, some we don't, but Hokuto believes she's the best in the world right now.

You think she could beat Chyna? asks Arn Anderson

James Mitchell says of course Akira could beat Chyna, but doesn't sound totally convinced.

It's looking quite busy at ringside says Tony, pointing out Terry Taylor, Stasiak, Kidman and Dave Taylor all out there. Jerry Lawler says of course it's busy at ringside Tony, there's 5 beautiful ladies in the ring!

The match is quite chaotic and sees a lot of spots to hide some of the less experienced girls' lack of ability.

The match comes to a conclusion when Torrie Wilson is fighting Stacy on the outside and something grabs her leg from under the ring. Torrie starts screaming and Kidman immediately goes over. Keibler manages to hit a big kick on Wilson in the distraction which takes Wilson out. Meiko Satomura dives from the ring to the outside taking out her rival Stacy Keibler.

Meanwhile, in the ring, Malia Hosaka is duking it out with Sweet Saraya. Saraya gets a big punch in on Hosaka, before hitting a Briding Cradle Suplex which Arn Anderson says she calls the Saraya Cradle.

The ref starts counting and Sweet Saraya gets the win!

Sweet Saraya wins via pinfall - (4.58) - (34 rated)

---

After the match Sweet Saraya raises her hand in the ring with Dave Taylor and then stares down Akira Hokuto who is at the top of the entrance way looking intimidating with the WCW World Women's Championship

'Real Talk with Roddy' interview with Chyna

We see Roddy Piper in a pre-recorded interview with new WCW signing Chyna

Roddy Piper asks Chyna why she did what she did to Eric Bischoff.

Chyna said Eric Bischoff is a cowardly little man and she just gave him what he had coming to him. Chyna says she's sick of men like Bischoff thinking they're God's gift to this earth. Chyna said Bischoff has disrespected Sable and disrespected women's wrestling... he thought he was untouchable... but nobody... woman or man... is untouchable when I'm around.

That's Real Talk! says Piper. I love the attitude, Chyna, really I do, but don't you think you've given Bischoff what he wants by making him the victim now? Now he's got you suspended from wrestling, that's what you come here to do, huh? That should've been you at Fall Brawl going for the women's title, now you're what, stuck in catering, huh?

Chyna says men like Bischoff have been trying to keep women like Chyna down for years. There's a reason why she wasn't given a new contract where she used to work... some men like to play the game!

Piper laughs at this. Well, what's next for Chyna in WCW, huh?

Chyna says as far as she's concerned every other woman in the locker-room is on borrowed time. Chyna has been banned from in-ring action for the rest of the month, but once that time is done... then the party's over for every other bitch on the roster.

Freestyle segment with Roddy Piper and Chyna - (55 rated)

Match 6:

Buff Enuff (Buff Bagwell & Buff Daddy V) vs The Nu Road Warriors (Road Warrior Animal & Road Warrior Dog)

WCW Buff Bagwell 4th Theme Song - "Buff Daddy" (With Tron) (youtube.com)

Road Warriors Theme Song (youtube.com)

This match is a quite hard-hitting affair with all 4 guys getting a decent amount of time in the ring and using power moves and strikes. Buff Daddy V frustrates Road Warrior Dog when they're duking out against each other, Road Warrior Animal tags himself in and manages to take down Buff Daddy V quite quickly.

However, this leads to BG James to get frustrated and annoyed as Animal tagged himself in. He starts to argue with Animal as he gets into the ring to protest. Animal tells him to calm down, he's handled it, but in this distraction Buff Bagwell comes in and manages to take them both out with quick strikes.

Buff clotheslines BG James out of the ring and then hits a Buff Blockbuster on Animal.

By this point Buff Daddy V is back to his feet. Buff Daddy V hits an elbow drop on the downed Animal for good measure and the referee counts 1-2-3.

Buff Enuff win via pinfall - (6.20) - (59 rated)

---

Well folks, says Tony, The Nu Road Warriors' lack of chemistry seems to be causing them problems. They don't seem to be on the same page at all. One team that looks on the same page is Buff Enuff, but wait a minute, no!

After the match to add insult to injury Buff Bagwell and Buff Daddy V start stomping on Animal. Road Warrior Dog storms the ring to protect his team-mate but they soon over-power him and they're both on the floor.

Curt Hennig 2nd WCW Theme Alternate Version (youtube.com)

Wait a minute! It's Curt Hennig! cheers Tony, as Curt Hennig comes running out with a steel chair and sees of Buff Bagwell and Buff Daddy V from the ring.

Curt Hennig and Buff Bagwell exchange some nasty words at each other.

Freestyle segment with Buff Enuff, The Nu Road Warriors and Curt Hennig - (67 rated)

Vampiro & fReEk-sHoW! promo

Vampiro, with the mOrE-bId! & rAgE? yEs! in the background says it's a shame that they couldn't take their target of Torrie Wilson to join the fReEk-sHoW!, but that's okay, this business is full of dumb blondes!

Now walking into shot we see Cynthia Lynch but she looks very different. She looks like one of them. A juggalo.

Vampiro laughs. He says this is... lYncH! The woman formerly known as Cynthia Lynch laughs manically, which causes the other two former members of 3 Count to start laughing manically too.

Vampiro says the fReEk-sHoW! is now completed, but they are far from finished with the WCW roster. They're only just getting started.

Vampiro says he wants to test the strength of his fReEk-sHoW... Kidman! Friday Night Panic!... you versus mOrE-bId! Be there... or be square!!!

Freestyle segment with Vampiro & fReEk-sHoW! (56 rated)

-----

Match 7:

Christopher Daniels (with Terry Funk) vs Disco Inferno

Christopher Daniels is already in the ring with Terry Funk on the outside.

WCW Disco Inferno 1st Theme(With Custom Tron) (youtube.com)

Well, Disco Inferno in action here tonight against the rookie Christopher Daniels. What do you make of his chances Arn, asks Tony.

Anderson praises Daniels. He says Christopher Daniels has real experience around the world, real talent, a real desire to make it in this business and by aligning himself with someone like Terry Funk the sky is the limit for him.

This is an open match with both guys looking pretty good in it. Funk gives Daniels advice at ringside and it looks like Daniels is on top and likely to win the match, with Disco Inferno on the defensive, when suddenly the lights go out.

Oh boy! says Jerry Lawler.

We see evil satanic dogs barking and then suddenly the lights come back on.

Christopher Daniels is looking at the entrance ramp wondering if it's The Hounds of Hades trying to mess with him and Funk again. Funk is on the entrance ramp ready to fight them with a steel chair.

Disco Inferno uses this distraction to hit a Chart Buster on Daniels and against the run of play in the match he gets the 1-2-3!

Disco Inferno wins via pinfall - (4.34) - (53 rated)

After the match Disco Inferno celebrates as Funk checks on Daniels and looks annoyed at the distraction that caused him to lose

----

Shane's office

We see Shane McMahon talking to Ricky Steamboat and Eric Bischoff who is still in a wheelchair

Ricky Steamboat says he's honoured to become the new Head of Talent Relations in WCW. Eric Bischoff says his first task is to get that bitch Chyna sacked!

Ricky Steamboat says he can't just fire her and Shane McMahon says he understands Erich had a bad experience with her, but she's been punished for that and she's a big star who he hopes will do big things for WCW.

Bischoff says that's a typical McMahon. If the star is big enough you can look past any misdemeanour!

Shane looks annoyed at this when Booker T, RVD, Kanyon and DDP come in and start asking about going to the New Japan show this Friday to get back that WCW United States Championship.

Shane looks disappointed and says he's looked at flights but due to the ongoing chaos at airports across the country it doesn't look like WCW will be able to get any of them from the U.S to Japan in time for New Japan's show on Friday.

Shane says he has a plan for next week which he will announce to The Extreme Alliance on Friday Night Panic!

Freestyle segment with Eric Bischoff, Ricky Steamboat, Shane McMahon, Booker T, RVD, Kanyon & DDP - (69 rated)

------

Before the main event we see the separate teams preparing.

Barry Windham and Mike Rotunda are talking to 'Dr Death' Steve Williams asking him if he's okay to compete tonight. They say if he's not they're happy to take this main event as a 2 on 2 match. Williams says he's beat up but he's not giving up the chance to dish out some punishment to Scott Hall and The Sandman after what happened last week

Meanwhile, Scott Hall is seen getting into the Bentley which The Sandman is driving whilst smoking.

---

Match 8 / Main Event

Handicap Match: Barry Windham, Mike Rotunda & 'Dr Death' Steve Williams (with Jimmy Hart) vs Scott Hall & The Sandman

WWF US Express "Born In the USA" Theme (youtube.com)

Windham and Rotunda come out to Born In The USA both holding American flags. The fans are in a patriotic move given the circumstances and cheer this.

AJPW Steve Williams 1st Theme Song - "I Love It Loud" (With 1st Tron) (RIP) (youtube.com)

'Dr Death' who is hobbling a little bit joins them on a heavily strapped leg. Windham and Rotunda look a bit concerned for him but Jimmy Hart on his microphone is shouting encouragement.

ECW: Ready Or Not (Scott Hall) [Feat Fugees] - Single + Download Link (youtube.com)

Scott Hall comes out in the Bentley. The Sandman, equipped with his Singapore Cane, opens the door for Scott Hall who comes down to the ring with his WCW World Heavyweight Championship looking smug and putting on a tough guy act for the fans.

The match gets a decent amount of time and for most of it the match plays out as a 2-on-2 type match with Windham & Rotunda protecting their friend 'Dr Death' by doing much of the work.

As the much comes towards the end Scott Hall has managed to get the better of Windham, with Rotunda already looking worse for wear after suffering in a Sandman/Hall double act when he was the legal man previously.

Windham looks sceptical but he knows he needs to make the hot-tag to 'Dr Death' who is all for it. He tags in Steve Williams who tries to immediately charge at Hall upon getting tagged in, but Hall manages to dodge out of the way and gets a tag in to The Sandman.

The Sandman gets in and starts brawling with Dr Death which he already found out isn't the best thing for him to be doing in their previous match.

Steve Williams keeps the momentum going and hits a huge lariat on The Sandman, which takes him out and seems to bring back some of the pain he got from being Book-End'ed through a Limo at Mayhem.

Just as Williams looks set to finish off The Sandman, Scott Hall comes into the ring and takes out Williams from behind right in the part of his leg that he injured. Williams goes down like a wounded bear and starts holding his quad desperately.

Windham and Rotunda immediately hit the ring and both charge towards Hall, who ducks out of the way, slides under the ring and seems to start walking away from the match, abandoning The Sandman.

Windham hits a lariat on The Sandman, who gets up, groggy and then Rotunda hits a Samoan Drop on him. They both then place the injured and legal man 'Dr Death' on top of him and the referee counts for the 1-2-3

'Dr Death' Steve Williams and Barry Windham & Mike Rotunda win via pinfall - (7.53) - (62 rated)

---

As the show ends we Scott Hall looking a bit concerned at the loss but also potentially a bit intrigued by how hurt 'Dr Death looks'.

In the ring Jimmy Hart gives Barry Windham and Mike Rotunda the American flags from earlier and the show goes off air with them waving the American flags in a proud show of patriotism to end the post-9/11 Nitro.

Sabu retains WCW United States Championship live on NJPW against Chris Candido

Fans in Japan were treated to a brutal match between Sabu and former WCW star Chris Candido earlier today in Japan which is around 13 hours ahead of U.S time. WCW fans in America, as well as Shane McMahon and the WCW roster are waking up to the news that Sabu still holds the historic championship belt that The Extreme Alliance have been using as leverage to try and get WCW contracts in recent weeks.

It is thought that Shane McMahon will be addressing the ongoing situation with the WCW United States Championship tonight on Friday Night Panic!

Having already taken the belt to the indies in the U.S, Mexico and Japan, it is not clear what the next escalation from Sabu and The Extreme Alliance will be.

Hopefully the next escalation will be giving the belt to somebody talented (or at least getting rid of the Extreme Alliance- am I the only person who never missed ECW for one second? Honestly, any company that booked The Sandman as a major talent kinda deserved to close down).

Regardless of my probably irrational hatred for ECW, this is really good stuff.

I’m glad you’re enjoying it even if not the ECW/Extreme Alliance stuff!

Friday Night Panic! Episode 7:

Friday 14 September 2001

Live late-night on FX

6,966 crowd from Wichita, Kansas

Announcers: Joey Styles, Scott Hudson & Stevie Ray

-------------------------------------

Show opens up with Sum 41's 'Fat Lip'

Fat Lip (youtube.com)

Joey Styles on commentary welcomes fans to Friday Night Panic! live in Kansas! We've got a big show for you tonight, folks. Later on tonight WCW's "acclaimed" Chairman and CEO will address the ongoing situation with the WCW United States Championship and The Extreme Alliance after another successful deference from the champion, Sabu, earlier today in NJPW against Chris Candido!

Yes, quite, Joey, says Scott Hudson, but focusing on WCW's actual talent we've got 4 big matches for fans here in Kansas and watching at home. Sean O'Haire & Chuck Palumbo are in tag-team action, we've got Billy Kidman going 1-on-1 with the man formerly known as Shannon Moore, now going by mOrE-bId!, plus in our main event tonight Rob Van Dam is in action for the first time since the injury he suffered at WCW Mayhem as he takes on Johnny Stamboli.

ECW Steve Corino Custom Titantron (youtube.com)

Oh hell no... I think we all know what that means and what's starting the show tonight, then, says Stevie Ray

---

"Excuse me, Kansas, excuse me, my client has something he'd like to say" says Don Callis as the fans boo.

Steve Corino comes to the ring with Don Callis and his WCW FXtreme Television Championship

Steve Corino says of course due to the mandatory requirements of his contract he's here for tonight's edition of the Steve Corino Open Challenge

Steve Corino gets a mic and says last week he proved Kid Kash will never draw a dime in this business.

Corino says he's done fighting bums, has-beens and over-rated hacks.

Corino says he wants to up the ante tonight.

Corino says he wants someone with credibility to come out and face him.

Corino says WCW is supposed to be where the big boys play! Well the WCW Television Championship has over 25 years of legacy and yet I haven't seen much evidence of that!

Corino starts talking down the Championship when suddenly-

WCW Bobby Eaton Theme (youtube.com)

That... no it can't be... it is... it's Bobby Eaton! says Scott Hudson. Bobby Eaton, who 10 years ago at SuperBrawl 1991 won that championship from Arn Anderson, he was a 3 time WCW World Tag Team champion, part of the legendary Midnight Express tag team, a tag team and singles champion in multiple NWA promotions, if Steve Corino wanted someone with real credibility then he may have bitten off more than he can chew here!
-------

Match 1:

The Steve Corino Open Challenge - Steve Corino (c) (with Don Callis) vs Bobby Eaton for the WCW FXtreme Television Championship - Normal match

The crowd are behind Bobby Eaton as he comes into this match and takes Steve Corino off guard with his experience and technical ability.

It takes Don Callis barking advice and Corino getting taken down a few times to finally get his game-face on and Corino reverts to the aggressive technical wrestling that has seen him retain the title so far.

Corino eventually gets the win by making Eaton tap to his Crossface Chicken-Wing

April Hunter interview with Rob Van Dam

April asks Rob Van Dam what his head space is like going into tonight's match

Van Dam says he's cool, calm and collected as always. He's ready to wrestle again and in tonight's main event he's going to show why he's Mr WCW, Wednesday Night, Friday Night, whatever tonight I gotta turn up to get the job done.

Hunter asks if RVD has his mind somewhat on Sabu, Bill Alfonso and The Extreme Alliance

Van Dam says as he's said before he's a big believer in karma. He believes those guys will get what's coming to them sooner rather than later, hopefully I can be part of giving that to them, but tonight I got a match and I'm focused on winning that so the fans can go home happy after chanting for ROB - VAN - DAM

Match 2:

PG-13 (Jamie Dundee & Slash) vs Sean O'Haire & Chuck Palumbo (with 'Sinister' James Mitchell)

Jamie Dundee ECW Theme 'Jump Around' (youtube.com)

Well ladies and gentleman it's a WCW debut tonight for PG-13 and if you haven't seen Jamie Dundee or Slash before they're not afraid of giving the crowd some stick.

As they come out Dundee & Slash flip-off the crowd and generally act nasty towards them

WWE: Chuck Palumbo & Sean O'Haire Theme "Freestyle Hombre" Download (youtube.com)

Sean O'Haire and Chuck Palumbo come out with 'Sinister' James Mitchell. Mitchell is giving them advice before the match.

Dundee and Slash goad the crowd throughout the match and do get some offence in to showcase what they're capable of in their WCW debuts, but for the most part this match is a dominant win for Sean O'Haire and Chuck Palumbo.

Palumbo gets the win on Slash with a Full Throttle.

O'Haire & Palumbo wins via pinfall - (6.26) - (52 rated)

----

After the match Sean O'Haire has a microphone where he says the future of WCW is Sean O'Haire & Chuck Palumbo. O'Haire says last week Mike Rotunda told me I better watch my mouth or him and Barry Windham will show us just who's clogging up the cards here in WCW. Well, I think we just showed that sure as hell isn't us!

And you see, O'Haire continues, not every veteran in this company is looking to keep guys like me and Chuck down. You see the very champion of this company, Scott Hall, he approached us through our associate, James Mitchell, yesterday, and he gave a very interesting opportunity for us next week on Nitro. You see, in the main event of Nitro this week, Windham & Rotunda, you beat Scott Hall and The Sandman with your boy, another washed up has been, Steve Williams, in a handicap match, because you know in an equal contest you'd have no chance.

Well next week on Nitro, Scott Hall is giving you a chance for a fair night. As if you 2 aren't too cowardly to take up the fight, it will be 'Dr Death' Steve Williams, Barry Windham & Mike Rotunda, in a 6 man match against the WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Scott Hall, and the future of WCW, Sean O'Haire & Chuck Palumbo!

Barry Windham 9th WCW Theme 'Road To Glory (Underscore)' (youtube.com)

Barry Windham & Mike Rotunda come out with American flags.  At the top of the entrance ramp, Barry Windham says that he and Rotunda are both Expressly American - and that means they don't back down from any fight! If it's a fight that you boys want next week on Nitro, then it's a fight you will get!

Backstage we see Chavo Guerrero Jr chilling in a training room

Disco Inferno comes in looking real happy with himself

Disco says, hey Chavo! My guy! How are you feeling tonight!

Chavo says he's doing good. He says he's keeping shape, doing some stretches.

Oh yeah Chavo! That's very sensible, man! says Disco

Disco asks Chavo if he saw Nitro this week where Disco picked up a big victory!

Chavo says the way he sees it, Disco was on the road to losing to a rookie, before he got lucky that that weird demon group got involved and distracted the poor kid.

Disco says the match was never in doubt! He says he was hoping Chavo had thought more about the possibility of them working together. Maybe becoming a tag team - a force to be reckoned with!

Chavo says he's still not really sure about that, Disco.

Disco says he's got a whole list of great possible names for them as a team.

Chavo says he's flattered but for now he's not interested and then he walks off.

Disco looks a little disappointed but then says to himself that persistence will pay off! Then he starts humming a disco tune and dancing to himself.

Match 3:

Billy Kidman vs mOrE-bId (with rAgE? yEs!)

Before the match we see Billy Kidman and Torrie talking. Kidman tells Torrie it's not safe for her out there with the fReEk-sHoW! he says they're all gonna be out there so she should stay safe in the back, just stick in catering. Shane Helms is still hurt after the attack on him last week on Nitro, but Kidman ensures her he's got this

WCW Billy Kidman 4th Theme (1998-2000) (youtube.com)

Twiztid - We Don't Die (Official Music video) (youtube.com)

mOrE-bId! comes out with rAgE? yEs! and Vampiro and lYnCh! also come out with them, but Vampiro and lYnCh! pull up chairs at the commentary booth.

Stevie Ray immediately asks Vampiro what he's up to with all this freaky crap they've been pulling the last few weeks.

Vampiro says they're just Juggalos and that's discrimination. He says that Stevie Ray and any other people hating on them should respect their lifestyle choices.

Kidman seems on edge during this match and during it we see cuts of Torrie Wilson watching the match backstage.

Kidman struggles to get to grip with mOrE-bId!'s new style of wrestling which is a bit more unorthodox and aggressive. rAgE? yEs! is also at ringside aggressively supporting his tag-team partner.

Kidman eventually manages to take out rAgE? yEs! with a drop-kick at one point when he gets on the apron.

He then manages to get the better of mOrE-bId! and hits the Shooting Star Press to get the victory.

Billy Kidman wins via pinfall - (5.43) - (43 rated)

Kidman looks pleased after the match and smiles down at Vampiro, who is absolutely raging, he throws down his commentary mic and takes lYncH! with him down to the ring.

He then orchestrates rAgE? yEs! to get back in the ring with a steel chair and along with him and lYnCh! Vampiro storms the ring and they try to overwhelm Kidman.

The Hurricane's 2003 Titantron Entrance Video feat. "Eye of the Hurricane v2" Theme [HD] (youtube.com)

He's here!! shouts Scott Hudson in joy

The Hurricane storms the stage with Torrie Wilson and together they run down the ramp. Torrie Wilson starts trading blows with lYnCh! and The Hurricane is duking it out with Vampiro after seeing off the other two guys.

Vampiro briefly gets some respite and makes an escape out of the ring. The Hurricane manages to Chokeslam mOrE-bId! for good measure before he, rAgE? yEs! and lYnCh! can make a run for it.

'Dr Death' Steve Williams and Scott Hall promo

In a pre-recorded promo we see Dr Death and Scott Hall cut quick promos against each other ahead of the 6 man match arranged for Nitro next week, with Dr Death and Expressly American taking on Scott Hall with Sean O'Haire and Chuck Palumbo

Dr Death says he's feeling in great shape and if Scott Hall thought he could get his driver to injure him out of the match at Fall Brawl than he's even stupider than he thought!

Scott Hall says on Nitro he's got 2 hired guns in O'Haire and Palumbo who will finish the job for him!

Match 4 / Main Event:

Johnny Stamboli (with Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke) vs Rob Van Dam

Full Blooded ltalians (FBI) 2nd Titantron (with 2nd Theme) (youtube.com)

WWE Rob Van Dam 1st Theme "Van Daminator" (HQ) (youtube.com)

The announcers hype up Rob Van Dam's return from injury. Is he fully fit to compete as he says?

RVD doesn't seem fully up to speed and doesn't seem to have the same agility and movement on his feet as normal, but he still puts in a solid performance against Johnny Stamboli. Stamboli tries to use his strength and power but RVD manages to avoid most of his hard hitting attacks.

The end of the match comes after RVD hits a Roundhouse Kick on Stamboli to take him out. RVD feels his ankle a little bit after the kick, but he still has time to ascend to the top rope and hit a Five Star Frog Splash before getting the 1-2-3

Rob Van Dam wins via pinfall - (7.40) - (76 rated)

Shane McMahon promo

For the Love of Money (youtube.com)

After the match Shane McMahon comes out with Booker T, DDP and Kanyon and addresses Sabu and The Extreme Alliance whilst RVD is still in the ring

Shane says Sabu and his motley crew of merrymen have travelled to Mexico and Japan with the WCW United States Championship belt. He says if they're not a bunch of cowards then next week they will travel to Phoenix, Arizona for Nitro and they will settle this bullshit once and for all!

RVD grabs a mic and says I hope that I'll see you in Phoenix, Sabu! Booker T starts shouting and calling out Bill Alfonso whilst DDP and Kanyon look keen to get their hands on Dreamer and The Freaks.

'Macho Man' Randy Savage announces plans to hang up his boots.

Randy Savage, currently 48, confirmed in an interview today that he has effectively retired and will not return to in-ring action. Savage, who is currently seeing out a TimeWarner contract that expires in March 2004, has indicated he has no intention of wrestling again once that contract does expire.

'Macho Man' is a 2 time former WWF World Heavyweight Title holder, former WWF Intercontinental Title champion and WWF King of the Ring winner. As one of the biggest stars in wrestling of the 80s and 90s many fans will be sad to see him call an end to his career, but what a career he had.

Nitro Episode 21:

Wednesday 19 September 2001

Live late-night on FX

7,777 crowd from Phoenix, Arizona

Announcers: Tony Schiavone, Jerry 'The King' Lawler & Arn Anderson

-----------------------------------------------

Show opens up with Linkin Park's 'Runaway'

Runaway - Linkin Park (Hybrid Theory) (youtube.com)

Tony Schiavone on commentary says it's Wednesday night folks and you know what that means! It's WCW Nitro, LIVE from PHOENIX!!!!

Jerry Lawler excitedly says we're here in The Valley of the Sun and we've got a hell of a go home Nitro show before Fall Brawl coming up this Sunday.

Hugh Morrus returns to in-ring action tonight, we've got 'The Natural' Dustin Rhodes going 1 on 1 with Nova, Curt Hennig is also booked for a match tonight, we've got a contract signing for our WCW World Women's Championship match at Fall Brawl between the champion Akira Hokuto and the newbie former British Women's champion, 'Sweet' Saraya, plus we hear from Fit's Fight Club ahead of their big match for the WCW World Tag Team Championship this Sunday with Team Canada and our main even tonight sees big 6-man action as the WCW World Heavyweight champion, 'The Bad Guy' Scott Hall, teams up with Sean O'Haire and Chuck Palumbo to face his challenger this Sunday, 'Dr Death' Steve Williams who teams with Expressly American (Barry Windham & Mike Rotunda)

But, says Tony, to start the show we have the WCW Chairman and CEO, Shane McMahon, who we hear is hoping to address the ongoing situation with Sabu, The Extreme Alliance and most importantly, the WCW United States Championship...

----

For the Love of Money (youtube.com)

Shane McMahon comes out looking all business

Shane says it's time to end the farcical situation with the WCW United States Championship which has been "kidnapped" by Sabu and The Extreme Alliance. He demands that Sabu and Bill Alfonso get their cowardly asses to the ring tonight and we can settle this like men.

Sabu, Bill Alfonso and the rest of The Extreme Alliance appear on the big screen.

Bill Alfonso says they're not stupid and won't go into the ring or the building when he knows Shane will have them jumped by everyone on the roster and steal the WCW United States Championship from Sabu, it's rightful owner.

Alfonso says Shane is in no position to make demands. Alfonso says they've taken the belt to the Indies, to Mexico, to Japan. Every time we've told you what we're going to do with this belt we have done it.

Sabu then says he's done with defending this belt across the world. Sabu says he wanted nothing more to be the recognised WCW United States Champion, but despite his best efforts Shane McMahon won't recognise him as champion. Shane McMahon won't give him a contract despite being the WCW United States Champion.

Sabu then says if that's how Shane values such a historic championship, then maybe it doesn't hold much value anymore!

Bill Alfonso says their demands have been clear. They just want guaranteed WCW contracts for Sabu, Alfonso as his manager, plus contracts for Tommy Dreamer, Axl Rotten and Balls Mahoney.

Shane in the ring says he won't give them then! He won't reward this behaviour!

Alfonso says that's fine, we will escalate.

Tommy Dreamer says we've given you plenty of time to meet our demands, Shane. If you don't meet those demands by the end of Nitro tonight, then that's fine, Friday Night Panic, Fall Brawl on Sunday, we won't be there, we won't disrupt your event or cause a scene. But I've put in a call to an old boss of mine... a guy who has a lot of history with WCW... a guy who doesn't really like you and doesn't really like Eric Bischoff... a guy who now has direct contact with your Father, Shane!"

"I never liked that Heyman!" says Jerry Lawler.

Shane McMahon looks a bit concerned in the ring.

Bill Alfonso says Shane, if you won't give us what you want by the end of Nitro tonight, then next Monday night, live on RAW!, Sabu isn't going to turn up and defend the WCW United States Championship... he then blows his whistle excitedly whilst looking at Sabu.

Sabu then says "I'm going to turn up and THROW IT IN THE TRASH!!!"

Oh my god! moans Tony Schiavone. The crowd are shocked and boo.

Shane looks concerned and angry in the ring.

"As we said, Shane..." Alfonso says. "It's your call and you got till the end of the show to make it!"

The Extreme Alliance suddenly go off screen leaving Shane looking blank

"The WCW United States Championship thrown in the trash on national television?!" bemoans Schiavone. "It's an outrage!" adds Arn Anderson. Jerry Lawler says that Shane McMahon has a big decision to make here.

Match 1:

Hugh Morrus vs Kaz Hayashi (with Jimmy Yang)

Well folks, says Tony Schiavone, we're back from break after the shocking development to start the show, with Sabu, that bastard Bill Alfonso and The Extreme Alliance now threatening to throw the WCW United States Championship and it's over 25 year legacy into the trash! What garbage humans these guys are!

Got to agree with you there, says Arn Anderson.

Hugh Morrus comes out looking angry and ready to destroy whoever is in his path.

WCW Jung Dragons 2nd Theme Song - "Gong/Shakuhachi" (With Tron) (youtube.com)

Kaz Hayashi comes out with his tag team partner Jimmy Yang. Jerry Lawler says he's not sure he fancies his chances against Hugh Morrus who looks very motivated tonight.

Hugh Morrus gets in a lot of offence in this match. Whilst not a complete squash with Kaz Hayashi getting in some attacks, Morrus' superior power combined with his speed and agility are too much for one of the Jung Dragons. Morrus eventually gets the win with a Moonsault.

Hugh Morrus wins via pinfall - (5.34) - (50 rated)

We see Shane McMahon in his office backstage. Ricky 'The Dragon' Steamboat, Dustin Rhodes, DDP, Booker T, Kanyon and Rob Van Dam are all ranting and raving about how Shane can't let the WCW United States Championship.

Shane McMahon silences them and tells them he understands and he agrees. Shane says later tonight he will make The Extreme Alliance an offer they can't refuse!

Can't or won't baby? asks Dusty Rhodes.

Shane says they won't refuse it, Dusty!

Scott Hall and The Sandman in the parking lot

We see Scott Hall and his driver The Sandman looking like they're having an argument

The Sandman says I just think you're running scared of 'Dr Death', that's all.

I ain't running scared of nobody! replies Scott Hall, looking pissed off, with the WCW World Heavyweight Championship lofted on his shoulders on top of his clothes.

Sandman says he ain't the best wrestler in the world, ain't nobody disputing that least of all me, but the way I see it, last week on Nitro, you bailed on that main event. You left me to deal with Windham and Rotunda after you sneak attacked the Doctor.

Scott Hall says Jimmy, maybe you've misunderstood this arrangement and you think we're buddies or something. But I'm not paying you for your opinions or advice, just you're driving and occasionally your violence. Do you get me?

The Sandman says yeah Champ, I get you, but maybe I'm growing a bit tired of our arrangement.

Scott Hall laughs. Oh really? You're tired of working for me, huh? Well last time I checked Jimmy, without me, you ain't got a job. The Extreme Alliance might well blag their way into contracts by the end of the show, but you left them, you've got no friends, Shane McMahon ain't gonna give you a contract... without me you'll be stuck on the indies picking up welfare checks!

The Sandman looks furious and smokes hard on his cigarette, looking mightily tempted to fight Scott Hall with or without his Singapore Cane.

Be careful Jimmy, that's all I'm saying, says Scott Hall, who walks off in a huff.

The segment ends with The Sandman not looking happy.

Match 2:

'The Natural' Dustin Rhodes vs Nova (with Blue Meanie and Blueberg)

WWE - bWo Theme (youtube.com)

Well folks, says Tony, next up we have 'The Natural' Dustin Rhodes in action against Nova. Shocking scenes last week on Nitro as Dustin's father, Dusty Rhodes, lost in a match to Shawn Stasiak who actually busted open Dusty and painted his face with his blood. After the match Stasiak claimed The Rhodes Family legacy in WCW is coming to an end and that Stasiak would put his own family name on the map.

Arn Anderson says Stasiak told Dustin that by the time he's finished with him he'll be finished in this business like his father. That's fighting talk if ever I heard it, you gotta think that threat will be playing on Dustin's mind tonight, way I see it this Nova kid might be in the wrong place at the wrong time here.

OFFICIAL AEW ENTRANCE THEME | "THE NATURAL" DUSTIN RHODES (youtube.com)

Dustin comes out looking up for the match.

Dustin's aggression works against him during the match as it causes him to make mistakes here and there which lets Nova into the match. Nova gets a decent amount of offence in and gives a good account of himself, but ultimately Dustin Rhodes gets the win with a Canadian Destroyer.

Dustin Rhodes wins via pinfall - (7.20) - (71 rated)

----

After the match Dustin Rhodes immediately grabs a mic

Dustin says look I think this kid Nova tonight put in a good performance so I want to quickly give some respect to him, but I gotta get to business and that business as I'm sure you'll all be aware of is with Shawn Stasiak.

Since I returned to WCW it seems like everyone wants to try and rile me up by fighting my father. Or criticising my father or the Rhodes name. I get it. I understand it. Shawn, look I'm sorry your father's no longer with us, I'm sorry you haven't done more with your career here in WCW yet, but I'm even sorrier still that you made the mistake to try and make a name for yourself by stepping on my name, on my career and on my father's legacy!

WCW Shawn Stasiak 4th Theme Song - "Stasiak Theme" (With Tron) (youtube.com)

At the top of the ramp Shawn Stasiak comes out with Stacy Keibler

Stasiak says he's glad that he has Dustin's attention. Stasiak says he wants to put the challenge out there to Dustin for a 1-on-1 match at Fall Brawl.

Dustin says it's more than on! He says Stasiak is making a big big mistake. Stasiak says no Dustin, the one making the mistake is you. Just as he says this Dustin gets jumped from behind my Mark Jindrak who starts beating down on him as he hits the deck.

Stasiak then gets into the ring and gets a few kicks in as well before smiling to the cameras.

We see 'Dr Death' Steve Williams, Jimmy Hart and Expressly American (Barry Windham & Mike Rotunda) in the back

Windham asks Williams on whether he's fit to compete tonight. Williams says he's fine, his quad is strapped but he's fit and ready to give Scott Hall a preview of what he's got himself in for this Sunday!

Jimmy Hart says this Sunday The Big Gold Belt comes home to Dr Death baby!!!

Match 3:

'The Queen of the Underworld' Dawn-Macaria (with The Hounds of Hades - Djinni Parisi & Saemon Daemon) vs Meiko Satomura

Hades - Epic Music Orchestra for the God of the Underworld - Ancient Gods (youtube.com)

Well folks, says Tony, 'The Queen of the Underworld' Dawn-Macaria is making her in-ring debut here in WCW tonight. She claims to be a descendent of Hades, Lord of the Underworld and over the past few months since The Hounds of Hades debuted we've seen a lot of spooky stuff happening through her. What can we expect to see from her in the ring tonight?

Jerry Lawler says he's expecting great things!

Arn Anderson says on a serious note I'm not sure what sort of style we can expect to see from Dawn-Macaria. That makes it hard for Meiko Satomura, her opponent, to prepare for the match. But young Meiko is a hell of an athlete, very talented in the ring, with 6 years experience she has much more in-ring credit to her name than Dawn-Macaria so you have to make her the favourite tonight in my opinion.

Meiko Satomura - "My Own Destiny" (NXT UK THEME) (youtube.com)

Meiko Satomura dominates this 5 minute match with Dawn-Macaria not getting much, if any offence in. It is clear Meiko Satomura is controlling the match and the announcers hype up how whilst Dawn-Macaria might claim to be Queen of the Underworld, Queen of the Ring she certainly is not.

Meiko Satomura has Dawn-Macaria prone and ready to hit her finisher, when Saemon Daemon and Djinni Parisi both stand up on the ring apron. The referee immediately comes over and starts having a go at them, ejecting them from the ring.

Meiko Satomura looks relieved at this and then eyes up Dawn-Macaria ready to hit her with the finish again. Suddenly, the lights go out. When they come back on, Meiko Satomura has what looks like a Tarantula at her feet. Meiko screams maniacally at the spider. The referee who also looks quite concerned at the spider, tries to calm Meiko down, but Meiko has lost focus on the match and is just focused on the spider.

Meiko moves away from the spider to the other side of the ring, but just as she does this she takes a punch in the face from Dawn-Macaria, she recoils and then Dawn-Macaria, grabbing Meiko's tights rolls her up and gets the 1-2-3!

'The Queen of the Underworld' Dawn-Macaria wins via pinfall - (5.43) - (31 rated)

The announcers mention how Dawn-Macaria got dominated in the match but 'divine' or 'demonic' intervention to place a Tarantula at Meiko Satomura's feet played a big assist here.

---

After the match The Hounds of Hades return to lift up Dawn-Macaria triumphantly.

Dawn-Macaria grabs a mic and she says tonight she announced her arrival in the WCW women's division. Dawn-Macaria says when you get in a ring with her you are not facing a woman you are facing a God. Dawn-Macaria says she knows every man and woman's worst fears and if you get in the ring with her then you will face them! Meiko's was spiders so she summoned a spider.

Dawn-Macaria says soon The Fugitive of Heaven will face his own fears.

Terry Funk's Titantron Entrance Video feat. ''Road To Texas'' Theme [HD] (youtube.com)

Terry Funk comes out with Christopher Daniels

Funk says he doesn't know anything about a Fugitive of Heaven, but what happened last week when they interfered in Christopher Daniels match with Disco Inferno was wrong. Funk says this kid was about to get his first ever win on national television and you cost him that victory and that don't sit right with me!

Dawn-Macaria says she likes Terry Funk. She says he might not be far from going to hell, but he's got guts, for an old man to come out and bravely face them down, it's a bad decision but she respects it all the same.

Funk says he ain't got any respect for any one of them and he says he's got a mind to teach The Hound of Hades a lesson about it! Funk lays down the challenge... Fall Brawl... Terry Funk & Christopher Daniels versus The Hounds of Hades!

Funk says they can bring their spooky house of horrors crap along with them, Funk says he spent several years in ECW, whatever they got don't scare him!

Dawn-Macaria agrees to the match and says this Sunday that Terry Funk might get more than he bargained for as they recall The Fugitive of Heaven back down to Hell!

Backstage in Shane's Office we see Shane McMahon with Ricky Steamboat and now Eric Bischoff in his wheelchair and neck brace

Animal says to Eric he appreciates Shane putting him together with Road Warrior Dog, BG James, but he doesn't think they're working out as a team. He doesn't think Dog respects him or wants to keep teaming with him.

Bischoff says what do you think I am? A therapist? I'm still undergoing intense physical therapy. I might never walk again. And you expect me to care about The Nu Road Warriors? I never wanted Shane to bring back the old Road Warriors, let alone this new bastardised version of it.

Ricky Steamboat says he's got an idea. Steamboat says maybe the best thing that The Nu Road Warriors can do is let off some steam in the ring.

Bischoff says that gives me an idea!

Later tonight, live on Nitro, it will be Road Warrior Animal... versus... Road Warrior Dog in a singles match!

Road Warrior Animal seems hesitant.

Bischoff says if you two can't get on the same page as a tag team, then maybe it's time you let off some steam against each other!

Arn Anderson says on commentary this could be an inspired idea from Bischoff!

Match 4:

AJ Styles (with Air Paris) vs Vampiro (with lYnCh!)

AJ Styles Theme (Old Theme) (youtube.com)

Twiztid - We Don't Die (Official Music video) (youtube.com)

Well folks, says Tony Schiavone, next up in action we have the young rookie cruiserweight AJ Styles in action against the experienced Vampiro. Styles of course out here with his tag-team partner Air Paris, whilst Vampiro has his new "creation" lYnCh! of course formerly known as Cynthia Lynch until Vampiro "turned" her into a Juggalo. Are they Juggalo vampires or just Juggalos do we know guys?

Jerry Lawler says I don't know what he's done to that beautiful young Cynthia Lynch, I think if anything Vampiro should be the one getting lynched for it!

Good Lord says Arn Anderson

Tony Schiavone says you have to expect Vampiro's other two creepy young goons will be around here somewhere or close by. The odds certainly not stacked in AJ Styles favour.

This is a good match that gets just over 6 minutes of time. AJ Styles gets in some high-flying moves and comes out of the match looking fairly good. Vampiro looks better as the match goes on and he gets the win after lYnCh! jumps Air Paris from behind and starts trying to gouge his eyes out. This distracts Styles long enough for Vampiro to hit a Nail In The Coffin for the win.

Vampiro wins via pinfall - (6.10) - (62 rated)

---

After the match Vampiro calls on fReEk-sHoW! and we see rAgE? yEs! and mORe-bId! come out from under the ring and join him in the ring.

Vampiro grabs a microphone.

Vampiro says their reign of terror on WCW is only just getting started. Vampiro says at Fall Brawl he wants to make a statement of intent to the entire roster.

Vampiro says he's issuing a challenge to the merry men who keep trying to stop us! At Fall Brawl - he wants a 3 on 3 match - fReEk-sHoW versus Billy Kidman, Shane Helms and their pal, The Hurricane!

Vampiro says if they don't show up for the match they know where they live!!

JJ Dillon with Sean O'Haire and Chuck Palumbo

JJ Dillon says it's a big night for Sean O'Haire and Chuck Palumbo as they team up with the WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Scott Hall, in the main event of Nitro to take on 'Dr Death' Steve Williams and Expressly American.

Sean O'Haire says they're sick and tired of seeing washed up has beens like Expressly American and 'Dr Death' get given opportunities whilst young guys like us, the future of this company, get scraps. We lost our WCW World Tag Team Championships to two past-it losers on a retirement pay-day run. I don't know how long Expressly American intend to keep clogging up the WCW card but we do know is guys like them are keeping us out of the higher spots in this company - and tonight, in the main event, we put a stop to that!

JJ Dillon asks Palumbo what a win in the Nitro main event could do for their careers tonight.

Palumbo says they want those WCW World Tag Team Championship belts back and they can only get there by winning matches. They intend to win their match tonight and show the powers at be that they're here to stay and they're here to slay!

Match 5:

Curt Hennig vs Reno

WCW Buff Bagwell 4th Theme Song - "Buff Daddy" (With Tron) (youtube.com)

Before this match Buff Bagwell comes out to join the announcers on commentary and he has Buff Daddy V with him who just stands behind him looking menacing.

The announcers ask Buff what he's doing out here and he says he wants to keep an eye on Curt Hennig.

Curt Hennig 2nd WCW Theme Alternate Version (youtube.com)

Curt comes out and side-eyes Buff Bagwell as he gets onto the entrance ramp before making his way to the ring.

Reno WCW Custom Entrance Video (youtube.com)

Curt Hennig looks a bit off it in this match. It's his first match since his disappointing loss to Scott Hall at Mayhem and you can tell he's not in form. Reno gets in some offence mainly through hard strikes and kicks, which Buff Bagwell cheers on from commentary, but eventually Hennig manages to hit the Perfect Plex and get the win.

Curt Hennig wins via pinfall - (5.37) - (60 rated)

-----

After the match Curt Hennig grabs a mic

Curt Hennig says Buff Bagwell has been avoiding him ever since he put his hands on Curt's son. Curt says Buff has proven even with that big lump Buff Daddy V by his side he is a coward! Curt says if Buff Bagwell was as Buff as he likes to say he is then at Fall Brawl he'll accept Curt's challenge for a match!

Buff Bagwell at the top of the ramp looks cocky and with a mic of his own he says he's never avoided Curt. He says if Curt wants a match at Fall Brawl, then he's got it, but he better be careful because Buff is going to make it 2 big PPV losses in a row for Curt and is Curt ready to accept that it's only downhill in his career for now?

Hennig finishes the promo by saying at Fall Brawl he will make Buff Bagwell glad he got a contract extension with WCW as he's going to see out the rest of his contract in a hospital bed!

We see Billy Kidman and Torrie Wilson backstage with Shane Helms

Helms says he's ready to compete at Fall Brawl and he can't wait to get his hands on Vampiro and his squad of goons.

Kidman says that's great, but what about The Hurricane? Kidman says he's never really met him properly, he doesn't have his number. Shane Helms says neither has he.

Torrie says she's sure she can find The Hurricane before Fall Brawl and that she's sure he will want to get his hands on Vampiro too. Kidman says he guesses they'll have to leave it with her.

Shane McMahon promo in the ring with Rob Van Dam, Booker T, DDP and Kanyon

Shane is in the ring looking a bit nervous ahead of what he has to say

Shane McMahon says he has thought about what The Extreme Alliance had to say earlier in the show.

Shane McMahon says he will not accept their demand to give them all contracts by the end of Nitro tonight.

There's a mixed reaction and on commentary Tony Schiavone says but what does this mean for the WCW United States Championship?

Shane says what he will do is offer Sabu the chance and opportunity to earn the demands that The Extreme Alliance have made. Shane says his offer is this:

At Fall Brawl it will be Sabu vs Rob Van Dam for the WCW United States Championship. If at the end of the match Sabu is still the WCW United States Champion, then Shane and WCW will meet the demands set by Sabu, Alfonso and The Extreme Alliance to give Sabu, Alfonso and the rest of The Extreme Alliance contracts.

Sabu, Alfonso and The Extreme Alliance appear on the screen again. Alfonso says that they accept these demands on the grounds that the match is a No Disqualification match.

Shane says that's fine... and then say since The Extreme Alliance are so keen to be seen and wrestling on national television, then I offer a challenge to Tommy Dreamer, Axl Rotten and Balls Mahoney... this Friday Night on Panic! in a 3 versus 3 Street Fight versus Booker T, DDP and Kanyon!

Dreamer, Axl and Rotten laugh and then say if it's a fight you want then it's a fight you'll get!

Booker T then grabs a mic and says why wait until Friday night?! He says that he, Kanyon and DDP will be in the parking lot for the rest of the night... if you boys are in the area and think you're tough enough to show up and fight like men tonight then get your asses to the arena and bring that b**** Bill Alfonso with you!

Match 6:

Road Warrior Animal vs Road Warrior Dog

Road Warriors Theme Song (youtube.com)

Road Warrior Animal comes out first, then once he's done with his entrance we see Road Warrior Dog come out afterwards looking a bit annoyed.

Jerry Lawler says this is genius from Eric Bischoff! This could be the making of The Nu Road Warriors!

Or it could be the end of them! adds Tony Schiavone

This match sees both guys let off a lot of steam with at various points in turning into a slug fest. Arn Anderson mentions he's not sure a slug fest plays into Road Warrior Dog's hands so much, given Animal is a bigger guy, but both guys give as good as they get.

It looks like Animal has the better display and Arn Anderson says if this was a boxing match I'd probably be giving it to him on points. Animal almost has Dog finished off but just as he goes to hit a Lariat on him, Dog ducks it and then the bell goes!

The match ends in a time-limit draw - (15.00) - (58 rated)

After the match an exhausted looking Animal and Dog size each other up. Animal reluctantly puts his arm out for a handshake. Dog looks unsure, but he shakes Animal's hand.

Does this mean they're still a team?! asks Lawler.

Sure looks that way! says Arn.

----

Backstage we see Fit Finlay with Dave Taylor and Tajiri

Dave Taylor's shoulder still looks banged up and Finlay says him and Tajiri have got it in the bag this Sunday. Finlay says Storm may have made Elix Skipper tap out last week, but Fit's Fight Club are made of stronger stuff and neither he or young Tajiri will tap out come this Sunday.

We then see Lance Storm, Mike Awesome and Carl Ouellet approach.

Mike Awesome says that's fighting talk from you Fit.

Fit says well I'm a fighting man, Mike, I'd expect you to know that. And if you don't know after last week, you'll find out at Fall Brawl.

Lance Storm says if he can be serious for a minute. Fit, you know I respect your career, your ability, your knowledge and wisdom, I'm sure you're teaching Tajiri all you know and much more... Dave, you too, but please, if you think an Irishman and a Japanese man can team up and defeat the best that the great nation of Canada has to offer... well, then you're sorely mistaken.

Tajiri talks in Japanese for a little bit.

Finlay translates and explains that Tajiri said that first of all Mike Awesome isn't from Canada even if he has eaten too much poutine for one lifetime (this annoys Awesome) and then he said that Lance Storm isn't even in the Top 10 Canadian wrestlers that Tajiri has been in the ring with.

Storm and Awesome are both really annoyed and then lose it by starting to throw punches at Finlay and Tajiri, with Ouellet jumping in and starting to fight Dave Taylor.

The fight is quickly stopped as several wrestlers and other road agents in the back notice it and get in the middle of them all.

In the ring we see Sable with a table with a contract. She has Chyna with her.

Sable explains that Chyna is of course suspended as a result of Eric Bischoff's petty feud with her, but Chyna will tonight serve as the security to help prevent any physicality between champion and challenger in tonight's contract signing.

First of all I introduce the challenger

Sweet Saraya BCW Theme Song “Faint” (Arena Effect) (youtube.com)

'Sweet' Saraya comes out

Akira Hokuto 4th - Pacific Zone (WCW Official Theme) (youtube.com)

Akira Hokuto comes out with the WCW World Women's Championship and 'Sinister' James Mitchell with her

Mitchell inspects the contract before instructing Hokuto to sign it

'Sweet' Saraya on the mic says "Just before I sign this contract I want you to know, Akira, that this ain't nothing personal, love, it's just business, I've had to fight for everything I've got in this life... and this Sunday I will fight tooth and nail to take that WCW Women's World Championship away from Japan and back to Britain!"

'Sweet' Saraya signs the contract.

Hokuto then gets on the mic and says "This belt... stays with me! You go back to UK... with nothing... bitch!"

Hokuto then throws a punch at Saraya and the two start brawling. Chyna quickly intervenes and tries to separate them, with 'Sinister' James Mitchell jumping in too. In the chaos the ensues Chyna throws a massive punch and ends up nailing 'Sinister' James Mitchell who is left in a heap after collapsing on the table and then falling on the ground.

Sable looks concerned checking on him. Chyna looks annoyed and leaves the ring. 'Sweet' Saraya and Akira Hokuto face off with both  looking angry. Saraya appears to have a slightly bloodied lip but she just smiles through it and points to the WCW World Women's Championship that Akira Hokuto holds onto.

We see Torrie Wilson backstage by herself looking a bit concerned in a dark corridor.

A man jumps out and she jumps but then is happy when she sees it's The Hurricane.

She says she's happy to see The Hurricane and asks him if he heard about Vampiro's challenge for Fall Brawl.

The Hurricane says he will always be there to fight evil and that Vampiro is one evil dude. The Hurricane says he's aware of Vampiro's challenge and he would be honoured to team up with the highly respected former WCW World Cruiserweight champions, Shane Helms and Billy Kidman.

Torrie Wilson says that's great and asks if he has a telephone number to make it easier for them to keep in contact.

The Hurricane says he never gives his telephone number out to a woman who is engaged to be married! But be sure they will be reunited this Sunday to kick some Juggalo ass!!!

Match 7 / Main Event:

Scott Hall, Sean O'Haire & Chuck Palumbo vs 'Dr Death' Steve Williams (with Jimmy Hart) and Expressly American (Barry Windham & Mike Rotunda)

WWE: Chuck Palumbo & Sean O'Haire Theme "Freestyle Hombre" Download (youtube.com)

O'Haire and Palumbo come out first with Tony Schiavone mentioning how they seem to have a point to prove tonight. They want to show Shane McMahon and the rest of the world that they believe they belong in main event segments and on TV every week.

Well Tony if they can help The Bad Guy get a win you'd have to say they'd be justifying that, says Arn Anderson. One man who isn't out there with him is their manager, 'Sinister' James Mitchell, I hear he's still receiving medical attention after being knocked out by Chyna earlier in the show.

Jeez, says Tony, she's already caused serious damage to two guys in this company, I feel like I should take out better private medical insurance in-case I'm next, Arn!

Jerry Lawler says there's a lot of guys out there who would pay good money to have Chyna run through them like she has Bischoff and Mitchell!

I'm sure you speak from experience Jerry, says Arn, before Tony laughs.

ECW: Ready Or Not (Scott Hall) [Feat Fugees] - Single + Download Link (youtube.com)

Scott Hall comes out and the announcers draw attention to his argument with his driver, The Sandman, but we still see Hall arrive in his trademark Bentley. He gets out of the ring with his WCW World Heavyweight Championship and we see The Sandman has driven him. The Sandman opens his door for him, Hall gets out and goes towards the ring, whilst The Sandman gets back in the car and appears to drive off to park the Bentley.

WWF US Express "Born In the USA" Theme (youtube.com)

Barry Windham and Mike Rotunda come out to a decent pop. They helped 'Dr Death' get a win in a handicap match with Hall and Sandman last week, they'll be hoping they can get another win in the main event tonight.

WWF Dr. Death Steve Williams Titantron Theme (1998-1999) (Custom) (youtube.com)

The announcers question whether 'Dr Death' is fit after the beating he took from The Sandman a few weeks ago. His quad is still strapped up but he looks fighting fit, says Arn.

This match gets about 7 minutes and is an action packed affair with all 6 men getting in some action, but Scott Hall is noticeably shifty and trying to avoid 'Dr Death' during the match.

The ending of the match comes when Scott Hall and 'Dr Death' are the legal men. Williams has just tagged in from Windham and he comes flying in on the hot tag and hits a huge lariat on Scott Hall which sends him clattering to the mat. Hall comes up struggling for breath after it looking really winded and he can barely get up. 'Dr Death' is screaming for him to get up so he can finish him off. Hall instead crawls over to get a tag from Sean O'Haire.

Williams is fuming as Hall rolls out of the ring and looks set to bail like he did last week. Williams tags in Mike Rotunda and he gets out of the ring himself and he chases Hall up the entrance ramp.

In the ring O'Haire and Rotunda start facing off. Palumbo comes charging into the ring and knocks Windham off the apron.

Hall runs through the curtain clutching his WCW World Heavyweight Championship. 'Dr Death' gets to top of the entrance ramp and out walks The Sandman clutching the Singapore Cane.

Scott Hall hides behind The Sandman goading Williams who stares down The Sandman. Williams goes to try and walk past The Sandman but The Sandman tells him he can't let him do that. Scott Hall tells The Sandman to finish him off. The Sandman eyes up Williams but then refuses to do that either.

In the ring, we see Palumbo hit a Big Boot on Rotunda. He falls down to the mat, then slows gets back up before taking a Widow Maker from Sean O'Haire who then gets the victory.

Scott Hall, Sean O'Haire & Chuck Palumbo win via pinfall - (6.21) - (62 rated)

'Dr Death' looks back towards the ring seeing what's happened and he looks annoyed and frustrated at having let his buddies down.

Scott Hall laughs at him.

----

Well we're about to go off air but we've got live scenes from the parking lot here in Phoenix says Tony urgently.

We see DDP, Kanyon and Booker T ready for a fight in street clothes.

A car comes flying into the parking lot and we hear it making a load of noise screeching the wheels. The car looks like it tries to drive into the 3 of them but they manage to just about get out of the way.

A window pulls down and it's Bill Alfonso who keeps blowing a whistle!

What the hell.... says Booker T. That bastard tried to run me down again!

The car goes flying away, but not before Tommy Dreamer shouts that he'll see them on Friday!

Kanyon is really frustrated and angry and even DDP looks red hot and ready to get them.

Friday Night Panic! Episode 8:

Friday 21 September 2001

Live late-night on FX

8,815 crowd from Salt Lake City, Utah

Announcers: Joey Styles, Scott Hudson & Stevie Ray

-------------------------------------

Show opens up with Sum 41's 'Fat Lip'

Fat Lip (youtube.com)

Joey Styles on commentary welcomes fans to Friday Night Panic! live in Salt Lake City! We've got a big show for you tonight, folks. Steve Corino will be in action tonight once again for the 'Steve Corino Open Challenge', we've got The MexiCruisers in No-Disqualification tag team action against The Sons of the South, plus we hear from Scott Hall and 'Dr Death' Steve Williams ahead of their big main event match this Sunday at Fall Brawl.

But, says Scott Hudson, starting off tonight's show we have a huge match ahead of this Sunday, we've got WCW's own, Booker T, DDP and Kanyon in a 3 on 3 Street Fight here in Utah!

---

Match 1:

Booker T, DDP & Kanyon vs The Extreme Alliance (Tommy Dreamer, Axl Rotten & Balls Mahoney) - 3 on 3 Street Fight

We cut to Booker T, DDP and Kanyon all armed with weapons. Booker T has a lead pipe, DDP has a chair and Kanyon has a baseball bat. They're all in street clothes and ready to go.

A gathering of WCW wrestlers and road agents are in the parking lot watching on as this match looks set to begin.

Suddenly, the screen in the arena lights up with Bill Alfonso, Tommy Dreamer, Axl Rotten and Balls Mahoney.

Alfonso on the screen laughs and says "you didn't actually think we'd show up tonight did you?!"

In the parking lot we see Booker T, DDP and Kanyon looking on angry and confused.

Tommy Dreamer says if you want The Extreme Alliance to put our bodies on the line against those 3 maniacs you got there then that's fine, we'll do it, but we'll do it on PAY-PER-VIEW!! That's right, he continues, if Shane McMahon wants a 3 on 3 Street Fight, then he better put his money where his mouth is and make sure we're financially compensated and on the PPV card for Fall Brawl. So we'll be there at Fall Brawl, if he wants the match, he will have to book it!

Booker T, DDP and Kanyon throw down their weapons in anger. They can't believe it.

The announcers are furious at this. Even Joey Styles who has backed The Extreme Allliance is annoyed at this betrayal as it's bad for ratings and makes him look bad.

Suddenly, from out of nowhere, Booker T, DDP and Kanyon are jumped from behind by Dreamer with a Baseball bat and The Chair Swingin' Freaks with chairs. The 3 men clatter to the floor. The rest of the wrestlers and road agents that are there quickly react, but Dreamer, Axl and Rotten run off, get in a waiting car with Alfonso whistling and then they drive off in double quick-time.

What have we just witnessed?! cries Scott Hudson. We hear Stevie Ray throw down his head set and rush out to the parking lot.

The match ends in a no contest - (3.10) - (74 rated)

----

Shane McMahon's office

We see a furious Shane McMahon watching on at this development.

Shane McMahon addresses the camera and says to The Extreme Alliance if it's a Street Fight in Phoenix this Sunday that you want... then you got it... but if you want to play dirty with us, you best believe that there are receipts coming your way this Sunday!

Shane McMahon then says as that match didn't happen he will give the fans in Utah an additional bonus tune up match for Rob Van Dam ahead of his clash with Sabu this Sunday at Fall Brawl

Freestyle segment with Shane McMahon - (97 rated)

---

Match 2:

Air Paris (with AJ Styles) vs Rob Van Dam

Air Paris is already in the ring as the announcers confirm this is a bonus match for fans in the arena after The Extreme Alliance screwed over and double-crossed Booker T, DDP and Kanyon. Scott Hudson says we will have injury updates on those 3 guys as the show goes on as whilst Shane McMahon has confirmed the 3-on-3 Street Fight to now take place this Sunday at Fall Brawl, what sort of condition are those 3 guys going to be in now?

WWE Rob Van Dam 1st Theme "Van Daminator" (HQ) (youtube.com)

RVD comes out and he shakes the rookie Air Paris' hand ahead of the match.

Joey Styles says Air Paris yet to get a singles win here in WCW, but alongside his tag-team partner AJ Styles they did get a shock upset win against Sean O'Haire and Chuck Palumbo a few months ago.

This match gets a decent amount of time with Air Paris getting in some offence against Rob Van Dam who is still getting back in the swing of things. It's a good showing for Rob Van Dam but he's a little more patient and measured than usual. It's clear his ankle is still not 100 percent but he manages to work through it and looks good during the match.

He manages to his a Spinning Heel Kick to Air Paris before eventually hitting the Five Star Frog Splash to get the win.

Rob Van Dam wins via pinfall - (9.41) - (76 rated)

----

After the match RVD shakes the hand of Air Paris before signalling for a microphone

Rob Van Dam cuts a promo where he addresses Sabu and Bill Alfonso. Van Dam says this Sunday at Fall Brawl he will get his revenge on Sabu and get back the WCW United States Championship, put some respect back on his name and make sure that Sabu and the rest of The Extreme Alliance are no longer relevant in WCW.

Van Dam says he knows The Extreme Alliance and Alfonso will probably try some funny business in his match with Sabu, but he's sure that between Booker T, DDP, Kanyon and the rest of the boys in the locker-room, they can try but they can't stop the inevitable of Rob Van Dam becoming Mr United States Champion for a 2nd time!

RVD ends the promo by asking the crowd who the best wrestler in the world is and they join in with him in answer with when he does the R-V-D taunt.

April Hunter with 'Dr Death' Steve Williams (with Jimmy Hart)

April asks the challenger for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship how he's feeling after the 6-man loss in the Main Event of Nitro

'Dr Death' says Scott Hall has been running from him ever since Hall found out it would be me coming for his title. He's got his bitch The Sandman to do his dirty work and whenever it comes time for Scott to get his hands dirty he ducks out of that ring and runs away.... well there's no running from 'Dr Death' this Sunday says Steve Williams addressing the camera.

Jimmy Hart says this Sunday at Fall Brawl, Scott Hall will pay the price of under-estimating 'Dr Death' and writing me off as a music man that's not an elite manager any more. The two of us, 'Dr Death' and I are still at the top of our game going for one last shot at glory and at Sunday we take that glory from under Scott Hall's nose, baby!

April Hunter asks what condition Steve's quad is in ahead of the match.

'Dr Death' says he's pleased to say he's got the all clear and there isn't even any bruising left. He says Scott Hall is cruising for a bruising this Sunday though. Scott Hall has been dodging death for years but he can't escape the Doctor at Fall Brawl! This sunday, that Big Gold Belt will be mine!

Match 3:

The MexiCruisers (Psychosis & Super Crazy) vs The Sons of the South (Erik Watts & David Flair) - No-Disqualification Match with Juventud Guerrera and 'Sexy' Brian Lawler banned from ringside

Well folks, says Styles, we're back from advert break and that was some strong words from 'Dr Death' Steve Williams. It's just me and Scott Hudson as Stevie Ray is still in the back checking on his brother, Booker T, how unprofessional of him!

Scott Hudson jumps to Stevie Ray's defence saying his brother was attacked from behind by The Extreme Alliance!

Mexicools - theme and Titantron Video (youtube.com)

Well looking at this alliance we've got Psychosis and Super Crazy looking to get some revenge on Flair and Watts tonight. We're told both Juventud and Brian Lawler, who face each other for Juvi's WCW World Cruiserweight Championship this Sunday, are banned from ring-side, but we're sure they'll be watching on somewhere from the back.

WCW Erik Watts Theme "Grid-Iron Train " (youtube.com)

This match doesn't have too many weapons involved but involves all 4 in tornado tag style beating the hell out of each other all over the ring and outside of it, with Super Crazy and Psychosis also throwing in some crazy high-flying moves.

The match comes to a close when Psychosis does a dive from the inside of the ring to the outside of the ring onto Erik Watts taking them both out towards the entrance ramp. Super Crazy remain fighting in the right near a set-up table when Super Crazy manages to get the better of Flair and Flair ends up laid out on the table. Super Crazy then hits a Moonsault destroying Flair and the table in the process. He then gets the pin.

The MexiCruisers win via pinfall - (5.34) - (53 rated)

---

After the match we see Psychosis get in the ring and celebrate with Super Crazy, but then 'Sexy' Brian Lawler runs out from the back and gets in the ring to start fighting with them.

Juventud Guerrera is quick to follow and Erik Watts gets back in the ring and they're all fighting.

Eventually Road Agents and other members of the Cruiserweight division rush out to split up the fight.

The segment ends with Juvi and Brian shouting at each other

Scott Hall promo

Scott Hall posing with the WCW World Heavyweight Championship says this Sunday at Fall Brawl, if 'Dr Death' thinks he's going to take this belt away from him then he's even more stupid than I thought.

Hall says the belt looks good on him and that he worked hard to get to the top of the mountain, he'll be damned if he lets an over-weight and over-rated has been like Steve Williams take it off him now.

Scott Hall says this Sunday he will embarrass 'Dr Death' to the point he has to run back to Japan because an American audience just won't take him serious any more!

He says Fall Brawl will go just like Brawl For All did - with 'Dr Death' injured and knocked out for six!

Match 4 / Main Event:

Don Callis on the mic says he's afraid that there just isn't enough competition for match for Steve Corino tonight.

Steve Corino says he's been in some hard hitting matches, some hardcore matches, some technical matches, but the fact of the matter is, the Steve Corino Open Challenge might just have run it's course. Corino says he's taken on all challengers but he just doesn't think there is anybody left in the history of WCW or even ECW who has what it takes to challenge me.

Corino says he's sure everyone in Utah tonight would like to see someone who can really go. Hell, I want someone to come on out here who thinks they can entertain not just these people, but to entertain me!

WCW Norman Smiley 2nd Theme Song - "Yadda Yadda" (With Tron) (youtube.com)

Steve Corino looks stunned as Norman Smiley walks out at the entrance ramp holding a garbage can.

It's NORMAN SMILEY! exclaims Scott Hudson. It's Big Wiggle himself! Former 2 time WCW World Hardcore Champion, he's here in tonight's Main Event looking to win the WCW FXtreme Television Championship from Steve Corino!

We've got 10 minutes left of this show and we'll follow this one until the end, folks! says Joey Styles

The Steve Corino Open Challenge - Steve Corino (c) (with Don Callis) vs Norman Smiley for the WCW FXtreme Television Championship - No-DQ match

Smiley comes flying to the ring. Don Callis is in his way, but Smiley smashes the garbage can right into him to a big pop and Callis hits the deck.

Smiley and Corino clash in the ring and this match is a brawl with various weapons coming into play throughout the match. Corino manages to find a chair at ringside which he uses but Smiley gets a chair of his own and they fight with the chairs. The match goes to the outside and until they start getting counted out they smash each other into the ring apron, the steel chairs and the outside barricade.

The match ultimately ends when Corino has Smiley ready for an Old School Expulsion but Smiley uses his technical ability to counter himself out of it just as the bell rings!

The match ends in a draw - (10.00) - (58 rated)

----

After the match Scott Hudson gets on the microphone from the announce desk as a frustrated Smiley stands off against Corino. A disgruntled Don Callis lifts the WCW FXtreme Television Championship and starts shouting about how Corino is still champion in a draw.

Scott Hudson says Shane McMahon has been impressed by Norman Smiley's performance tonight and being the first Steve Corino Open Challenger to take Corino to a draw he believes that this Sunday at Fall Brawl he deserves another chance in a normal 1-on-1 match!

Norman Smiley starts doing the Biggle Wiggle as Corino looks a bit concerned and the show ends with Don Callis furiously shouting and protesting at this.

Well folks we'll see you this Sunday at Fall Brawl! says Joey Styles before hyping up the matches and the card booked for the show as the show goes off air.

Scott Hall (c) vs 'Dr Death' Steve Williams (with Jimmy Hart) for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship

Hall's been doing a good job as Champ but with his issues behind the scenes it's surely safer to look at somebody more reliable.

Sabu (c) (with Bill Alfonso) vs Rob Van Dam for the WCW United States Championship in a No-Disqualification match - If Sabu retains the title, then The Extreme Alliance (Bill Alfonso, Sabu, Tommy Dreamer, Axl Rotten & Balls Mahoney) will all get WCW contracts

Leaving aside what I think of Sabu (who's a decent wrestler but not that interesting), neither Balls nor Axl deserve WCW contracts.

Team Canada (c) (Lance Storm & Mike Awesome) (with Carl Ouellet) vs Fit's Fight Club (Fit Finlay & Tajiri) (with Dave Taylor) for the WCW World Tag Team Championship

No particular reason, I just like them more

Akira Hokuto (c) vs 'Sweet' Saraya for the WCW World Women's Championship

Sweet Saraya's a Brit so that's a definite plus but Hokuto should run with the belt for a good long while

Booker T, DDP & Kanyon vs The Extreme Alliance (Tommy Dreamer, Axl Rotten & Balls Mahoney) in an Anarchy in the Arena match

Booker and DDP are former world champions, Axl and Balls are mediocre at best hardcore brawlers. This should only barely be a contest.

Steve Corino (c) (with Don Callis) vs Norman Smiley for the WCW FXtreme Television Championship

Corino's great but Smiley's hilarious and also British.

Juventud Guerrera (c) vs 'Sexy' Brian Lawler for the WCW World Cruiserweight Championship

Unless Scotty 2 Hotty is around Lawler's not a money-maker for me.

Curt Hennig vs Buff Bagwell

Buff may be the stuff but Curt is Perfect.

'The Natural' Dustin Rhodes vs Shawn Stasiak (with Stacy Keibler & Mark Jindrak)

Where's Dustin at, personal problems wise? In any case, Stacy Keibler was and is ridiculously attractive so her side wins.

Billy Kidman, Shane Helms & The Hurricane vs fReEk-sHoW (Vampiro, mOrE-bId! & rAgE? yEs!)

Two things- firstly, I feel like I missed something vis-a-vis Shane and Hurricane being in the same match. Secondly, who are Vampiro's lackeys out of gimmick? If we're not meant to know fair enough but I thought I'd ask.

Terry Funk & Christopher Daniels vs The Hounds of Hades (Djinni Parisi & Saemon Daemon) (with 'The Queen of the Underworld' Dawn-Macaria)
