COLLISION
Saturday, week 2, July 2024
Richmond County Bank Ballpark, Staten Island, New York (7,100 capacity)
Announcers: Nigel McGuinness and Tony Schiavone

We start Collision with The Elite in the ring. Nicholas Jackson has the mic to start with, and says that everybody has been asking who the fifth member of The Elite is for Blood & Guts... We're not telling he says... before Matthew says it is bad business to give away their secrets... This prompts Steve Austin and his Blood & Guts team of Kenny Omega, Drew Galloway, Eddie Kingston, Mark Briscoe and Jon Moxley to make their way out... Austin says if they don't tell him now who their fifth man is, then he will beat it out of their sorry asses... Matthew Jackson says that won't happen, as they are EVPs... Austin will now who the fifth man is at the same time as everybody else who isn't in The Elite... when he walks out to the ring... with that The Elite leave the ring. 68
Steve Austin came across well

DustinRhodes2.jpg.0a8739d0a41398d20139f14f756d482d.jpg v Komander.jpg.ed9b11b7a69ed2a133ff10b9ef982180.jpg
Dustin Rhodes v Komander
Not the best match, and this was in part because Rhodes did not have a good match. His poor showing enabled Komander to pick up the win with it arriving in 8:26 by submission. 45
Rhodes was really off his game

Backstage and Alex Marvez's guests are the former TNT champion Adam Copeland and Konosuke Takeshita, who are challenging Lucha Brothers for the World Tag Team Championship at Blood & Guts. Marvez asks them for their thoughts ahead of their title defence in a week's time... Copeland says he has only just lost one belt, so he's hungry to win another and in Takeshita he has somebody who is the future of wrestling... Lucha Brothers watch out, we're coming for your titles. 66

Santana4.jpg.ce04bc8db65bb16257070330e4c6ddae.jpgOrtiz10.jpg.5665cb19828b2d28943f156869c2ae9e.jpg v EthanPage16.jpg.af1181564005f82c1392a2e0c3e4f23c.jpgScorpioSky2.jpg.fdbe37f813199ddb1012c533f5628c56.jpg
LAX (with Dralistico, El Hijo del Vikingo, Rush and Sammy Guevara) v Men of the Year
A good tag team match where the more established and decorated team in LAX had the edge. They made their advantage count in 9:47 when Ortiz submitted Page. 62

The new TNT champion Claudio Castagnoli makes his way out to the ring. Claudio gets a mic and says he won the TNT Championship in the Cope Open... so he's going to put the TNT Championship on the line in Claudio's Challenge... unlike the Cope Open where literally anybody could challenge for the title, in Claudio's Challenge only quality wrestlers and proper tough guys can challenge...
Out walks Peter Avalan... Claudio shrugs his shoulders and laughs a little... and when Avalon climbs in to the ring, Claudio asks him if he is going enough for Claudio's Challenge... Avalon unconvincingly says he is, so Claudio tells him to prove it... Avalon has ten free punches to knock him down and if he can, Avalon can have his match... if he can't and Claudio can knock him down with one hit, it's bye bye Peter... so Avalon lands up and lands ten punches with all his might... Castagnoli barely even flinches... one European uppercut later and Avalon is lying on the mat holding his chin... Claudio rolls him out of the ring...
Then Michael Nakazawa comes out... and rather than write everything out again, the same thing happens...
Then business picks up and out comes Miro... Claudio smiles and says this is what he is talking about... a tough man who will be a challenge... Miro steps in the ring and says he wants his TNT Championship back... so at Blood & Guts he's going to beat up Claudio and take it back... Castagnoli accepts. This will be a right slobber knocker. 40

EvilUno(5).jpg.5adc93e5b1783df21e97392ac45295f8.jpg v SwerveStrickland(1).jpg.cb64578478a073ab5eacb6778cd44cca.jpg
OWEN HART FOUNDATION MEN'S TOURNAMENT SECOND ROUND
Evil Uno v Swerve Strickland (with Prince Nana)

A one sided match, made even more so when Uno appeared to get hurt in the match. Strickland won comfortably in 7:16 by pinfall with a Swerve Stomp and Uno becomes the first person to lose twice in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament in the same year. 64
Evil Uno suffered an injury in the match
Strickland out performed Uno 72-56

Renee Paquette is backstage with the Women's World champion Jamie Hayter and her long time friend Dr Britt Baker D.M.D. Paquette says that Deonna Purrazzo attacked the champion on Dynamite and Hayter is understandably very pissed off, saying she is going to beat the crap out of Purrazzo at Blood & Guts... Baker says she will do it first on Dynamite next week, saying you mess with one of us, you mess with us both. 63

AEWInternational.jpg.94f89acb70964610dbac51cce01e74e0.jpg
KENTA8.jpg.fa8ea1d2816cbb8a449844d8941d65d3.jpg v Wardlow4.jpg.fdfddfd59932672fbab9ef6eca8f0f29.jpg
INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
KENTA (champion) v Wardlow (with Adam Cole, Matt Taven, Mike Bennett and Roderick Strong)

The odds looked stacked against KENTA with Undisputed Kingdom at ringside only for referee Mike Posey to pre empt any cheating they might to by making the brilliant move of sending them all to the back before the bell even rang, much to the anger of Wardlow, who threw some big right hands at KENTA to start the match. This rocked the champion, but he fought back and the two had a very even match. KENTA managed to retain in the end in 11:20 by pinfall with a KENTA Combo Into Busaiku Knee. 52
KENTA and Wardlow both rated 53

Cameras cut to the parking lot, where Sami Zayn off all people is launching a sneak attack. His target is of course MJF and the Long Island native is taken by surprise and can't answer to Zayn's onslaught... As Zayn stands over a prone MJF, he's heard telling him "I'm not so laid back now" before he walks away. 72

ToniStormTimeless.jpg.fabf0bf8a039693fb28567caa33d7dd7.jpg v Athena3.jpg.b752e0fc06887763c03ba5958af85595.jpg
OWEN HART FOUNDATION WOMEN'S TOURNAMENT QUARTER FINAL
'Timeless' Toni Storm (with Luther) v Athena

A good even match, one where Athena perhaps surprised some by proving to be a match for the former Women's World champion. Then Becky Lynch made an appearance at top of the entrance ramp and this distracted Storm. Athena took full advantage to hit an O-Face and book her semi final spot in 10:38 by pinfall. 57
Athena benefitted by being in amazing form

Immediately after the bell rings, Becky Lynch makes her way to the ring and climbs in. She throws a few punches at Toni Storm, which causes the former champion to fall through the ropes and to the arena floor... Lynch gets a mic and simply says "I told you I fight". 63

CashWheeler2.jpg.1cfdf27512e5cacdcc1c71779a7193a7.jpgDaxHarwood.jpg.909b4e0cdc77497a8a10c83d6f165465.jpgMarkBriscoe3.jpg.374641965b42cea54fd4d014c64bcbeb.jpg v MattJackson2.jpg.7753fc3762bb31468d9edf2ebd43d42e.jpgNickJackson.jpg.2c45e05a9a2e3a8daa9b44ab9215ff88.jpgAdamPage.jpg.692603fdace9c5057e7ff0c91c590cf4.jpg
FTR & Mark Briscoe (with Steve Austin, Kenny Omega, Eddie Kingston, Drew Galloway and Jon Moxley) v The Elite (with Jack Perry)
Stephon Smith followed Posey's lead earlier in the night and sent everybody at ringside to the back before the bell rang. It was still wild in the ring as two trios who hate each other battled and brawled in the ring and around it. The Elite had the better of the match but it was FTR and Briscoe who won in 12:12 when Harwood pinned Nicholas with a Leg Hook Saito Suplex. 68 - match of the night
Briscoe benefitted from public support

Prior to the main event, we see Samoa Joe watching on a monitor. The former World champion says he is ready for whoever wins and he'll win the title back at Blood & Guts. 63

AEWWorld.jpg.fafff11d66f81a00fa7823662f9e4491.jpg
BryanDanielson15.jpg.2e8c177436de6c5bc931f0f7a584ba75.jpg v JayWhite.jpg.0ebf4ad26c60c59912fb9a76094e9652.jpg
WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
Bryan Danielson (champion) v Jay White

As a main event it was disappointing and it was one of Danielson's lesser efforts. Problem was, it was also White's too. As a result Danielson retained with some to spare in 17:31 by submission with a Cattle Mutilation. 65
Danielson 70, White 50
Danielson and White don't click at all and it showed in their performances

NOBBY'S NOTE

OK, this is a little embarrassing... Sting has just retired in ring when I have pencilled in his final match for All In London against Darby Allin. Completely took me by surprise how sudden it was as normally wrestlers in TEW2020 give three months notice of their in ring retirement. I just checked and Sting did announce his intention to retire in week 3, June 2024... but for one month time not three. So Sting isn't getting his retirement match at Wembley. :(

PRE SHOW

Dalton Castle & The Boys have lost their first 5 matches.

DYNAMITE
Wednesday, week 3, July 2024
WSU Nutter Center, Fairborn, Ohio (6,500 capacity)
Announcers: Excalibur, Taz and Tony Schiavone

We start the show with a familiar scene as Steve Austin and The EVPs are in the ring with their various associates Kenny Omega, Drew Galloway, Eddie Kingston, Mark Briscoe and Jon Moxley for Austin... and Jack Perry, Adam Page and Jake Roberts for The EVPs... For once Austin and the Jacksons agree on something... they the two factions have a match on Collision to determine the man advantage for Blood & Guts... simultaneously Steve Austin, Nicholas Jackson and Matthew Jackson all say "singles match" to the amusement of the crowd... Adam Page immediately volunteers for The Elite and The EVPs back him... unsurprisingly all of Austin's men want in... Austin on this occasion says no to Omega and Moxley... initially his wisdom is question but he says Page knows them both very well... so Drew Galloway will face Adam Page one night before Blood & Guts... the two groups look like they want to tear each other apart, but with the enormaty of what is at stake on Sunday, both refrain from doing so. 75
Austin came across well

AEWTNT.jpg.f2979b7e7a2099b27d75e530b4c8f924.jpg
ClaudioCastagnoli15.jpg.7c603d58472e8f11c59bdb0a50dc5596.jpg v Moose8.jpg.a81dae9b304d74cc2695ba2d983ca239.jpg
TNT CHAMPIONSHIP
CLAUDIO'S CHALLENGE
Claudio Castagnoli (champion, with Jon Moxley and Wheeler Yuta) v Moose (with Alex Shelley and Eddie Edwards)

Castagnoli's first title defence and therefore first Claudio's Challenge is met by Moose who is having his first singles match in AEW... all thanks to the nature of (relatively) open challenges, it's a title match. As expected, the former TNA World Heavyweight champion was a stern test for the reigning TNT champion and the other members of Blackpool Combat Club and Impact kept each other busy at ringside. Castagnoli made a successful defence in 12:05 by pinfall with a Neutralizer. 61

Alex Marvez is backstage with Swerve Strickland, his manager Prince Nana and Strickland's Blood & Guts opponent, Will Ospreay. Marvez starts by saying the two will fight at Blood & Guts but he doesn't even ask his first question before Strickland and Ospreay are verbally at each others throats, saying they are the better wrestler and they will win on Sunday night... Nana asks Who's House... Strickland says it's Swerve's House and he's building a castle... Ospreay says he'll knock it down before it's even finished. 65
Nana and Strickland benefitted from a hot catchphrase

Miro(6).jpg.135fbd4d7b99dc68bc0e01d2b96f2d49.jpg v JohnnyTV1.jpg.e4fde67b6a244397a6b5d2c572438210.jpg
Miro (with CJ Perry) v Johnny TV (with Taya Valkyrie)
We got from the TNT champion to the man who will challenge for it at Blood & Guts in what promises to be a very physical match. Here it was the opposite as Miro went up against the quick and parkour inspired style of Johnny TV. Miro mauled TV for much of the match, but credit to Johnny he hung on in there for a little while. Until that is he got caught out and in 6:32 Miro won by submission with a Game Over. 63

Next up we see Becky Lynch in the ring and she has a mic in hand. Before she can speak though, the music of 'Timeless' Toni Storm plays. The former AEW Women's World champion doesn't appear in the arena though, instead she appears on the video screen as a short movie plays, showcasing everything that is great about Toni Storm... and things she perceives are "dreadful darling" about Becky Lynch... Lynch looks very unimpressed with the movie, "come out and fight, bitch" is her review though Lynch is left frustrated and having to wait until Sunday night. 70

MarkBriscoe.jpg.1f6dce45f17666fa2ff90237cee74b5a.jpg v ChrisJericho21.jpg.16ea3b4117936003fafb924657f2cfbc.jpg
OWEN HART FOUNDATION MEN'S TOURNAMENT SECOND ROUND
Mark Briscoe v Chris Jericho

Not an easy match up in the Second Round for either of these guys. Briscoe had the better of the match, but one mistake coupled with Jericho's wily experience saw Le Champion advance in 10:57 by pinfall with a Judas Effect. 56
Briscoe out performed Jericho 57-47
Briscoe benefitted from public support

Renee Paquette is backstage with the former World champion Samoa Joe... Renee says to Joe that he has two huge matches this week... Joe says tonight he is in the trios main event, but all he wants is the World champion Bryan Danielson... he doesn't care about the others... he wants Danielson ready for Sunday night so he can kick his broken ass and win back the World Championship. 67

DeonnaPurrazzo.jpg.1085d99af16250ebbff735ae435c29b0.jpg v BrittBaker.jpg.7cec9768ec4b2dc47e21139dedc141f5.jpg
Deonna Purrazzo v Dr Britt Baker D.M.D. (with Rebel and Jamie Hayter)
Despite the support on the outside for Baker, Purrazzo stayed focused in the ring and had the better of the match against the first woman to ever be signed to the AEW roster and former Women's World champion. Her measured approached limited Baker to very few chances to win and not too much in the way of offence. It worked a treat as The Virtuosa took the spoils in 9:48 by submission with a Venus di Milo. 63
Purrazzo out performed Baker 65-54
Baker was penalised for being in extremely poor form

After the bell, the Women's World champion Jamie Hayter slid in the ring and attacked Purrazzo, laying the boots into her before hauling her up and nailing her with a Hayterade. The champion stood over her Blood & Guts challenger and held her title belt aloft. 64

RubySoho5.jpg.5b0d28dbed246856aa00682ecd6575b2.jpg v SerenaDeeb.jpg.5203600ba1616c42a1da6d193952d254.jpg
OWEN HART FOUNDATION WOMEN'S TOURNAMENT QUARTER FINAL
Ruby Soho (TBS champion) v Serena Deeb

A decent match though the champion didn't look her normal self. Deeb had pretty much full control throughout and looked for sure she would go through to the Semi Finals. Soho somewho, some way managed to get through though, pulling a win out of seemingly nowhere in 13:23 by pinfall with a Destination Unknown, leaving Deeb pounding the mat with her fists in frustration when she realised it was over. 60
Deeb out performed Soho 61-51
Soho was really off her game
Deeb benefitted from being in amazing form

We stay with the women as Lexy Nair is with Jordynne Grace. Lexy reminds Grace of the freakish events of last week when Nikki Storm transformed the set and countless insects and bugs appeared... Grace says Nikki Storm isn't right in the head... then we hear Storm's cackling laugh again... This time the interview set doesn't change and Lexy Nair isn't hanging around to find out what happens, she's off... Storm appears, holding a rat in her hands... Storm holds it in front of Grace's face, who shrieks... Storm then tells Grace to say hello to her pet rat, Matt... Grace tells Storm she's a freak and needs help before getting out of their as fast as she can. Looking at these past two weeks, Storm has won their Blood & Guts match already as she is completely got to Grace's head. 50

Christian.jpg.6b4d5c260604ea485aa72be957340bd6.jpgKillswitch(1).jpg.680bd23802e3129ac11238232884cdbe.jpg v MinoruSuzuki9.jpg.d5f0f4c172a37cfc7f36f859b246c15a.jpgTomohiroIshii2.jpg.fb96b7a71a0af920fcc531650d0ac985.jpg
The Patriarchy (with Nick Wayne) v Murder Pitbulls
Cage was at his caniving best in this tag team match. At first he wanted no part of the match and left the big Killswitch to fight the two ultra tough Japanese legends. Then when Killswitch had used his size advantage to gain control, Cage insisted on having the tag and took control of the technical wrestling side of this. This approach worked for The Patriarchy as they took the match in 12:08 when Killswitch (suprisingly) pinned Ishii with The Betrayal. Many were shocked when Cage let Killswitch take the win. 63
Cage out performed everybody else (70, next best Suzuki and Ishii 55)
The Patriarchy have great chemistry
Cage benefitted from being in amazing form

Backstage and we see the entire of the men's part of LAX attacking Blackpool Combat Club (without Bryan Danielson) in the arena concourse. The World Trios champions are unusually left a battered mess, purely thanks to the numbers and the gang assault. Konnan eyes the title belts left strewn among the bodies, and tells his men and the BCC that they will be theirs soon. 57

Bryan Danielson (World champion) & Lucha Brothers (World Tag Team champions, with Alex Abrahantes) v Samoa Joe, Adam Copeland & Konosuke Takeshita
Unusual trios but a lot of stake as champions face Blood & Guts challengers only four days before the pay per view. The match was superb. The crowd was hot. The result was a little bit of a surprise, especially as the champions trio looked very, very impressive. It was Copeland who snatched the win and gain huge momentum for him and his unlikely tag team parter, as he defeated Penta in 19:26 by pinfall with a Spear. 75 - match of the night
Danielson 91, Penta 87, Fénix 89, Joe 79, Copeland 70, Takeshita 69

PRE SHOW
Angelo Parker beat Nick Comoroto in 6:27 by pinfall with a Jagged Edge. 35

AEWRampage2.jpg.e98e486f313e44ec0176862bcdf7185c.jpg
RAMPAGE
Wednesday, week 3, July 2024
Broadcast on Friday, week 3, July 2024
WSU Nutter Center, Fairborn, Ohio (6,500 capacity)
Announce team: Chris Jericho & Excalibur

Hook starts Rampage being interviewed by Renee Paquette. She asks the FTW champion for his thoughts ahead of the main event against Nick Nemeth tonight… Hook simply says he is going to win as he munches on a bag of crisps/chips (delete as appropriate for which side of the Atlantic you are on). 64

Penelope Ford v Megan Bayne

A poor match, though evenly contested so at least it wasn’t predictable. Bayne got the win between two women trying to establish themselves in AEW, which seems a little odd to say about Ford given how long she’s been with the company. It came in 5:46 by submission. 32

El Hijo del Vikingo is backstage with one third of the World Trios champions Wheeler Yuta. Vikingo challenges Yuta to a singles match next week. Yuta agrees, as they always to on Rampage as often it’s wrestlers to need matches. 51

The Righteous (with Jake Roberts and Lance Archer) v The Hardys

Not the best match, and The Hardys given their standing as one of the greatest teams of all time, were particularly disappointing. They still won in 9:21 thanks to Matt pinned Dutch after a Twist of Fate and Swanton Bomb combo, but with every match they look past their best. 51
Dutch and Matt Hardy seemed off their game

Nick Nemeth is now with Renee Paquette. Renee asks Nemeth about facing Hook tonight… Nemeth says that Hook is a star in the making… but Nick Nemeth is already a star and a World champion in multiple companies… so Hook tonight is going to have a harsh lesson in fighting one of the best. 68

Mercedes Martinez (with Konnan, Diamanté and Tay Melo) v Yuka Sakazaki

A far better match than those so far on this show, Martinez earned a good win in 8:31 by pinfall with a Fisherman’s Buster. 57 – match of the night
Yuka Sakazaki has lost her first 5 singles matches

Once Diamanté is backstage and seperated from LAX, Skye Blue approaches her, wanting a match next week. Diamanté refuses… just kidding, she accepts. They always do. 47

Hook3.jpg.1ab154069a820dee24774a6b395bf989.jpg v NickNemeth(1).jpg.60d7f76c06e3354ba6545e821bc1e1df.jpg
OWEN HART FOUNDATION MEN’S TOURNAMENT SECOND ROUND
Hook (FTW champion) v Nick Nemeth

A good match but out shone by the ladies before them. Hook got the better of the bigger name in Nemeth in 12:25 by submission with a Red Rum. 53
Hook 53, Nemeth 52
Hook benefitted from public support

Show rating: 55
Attendance: 6,500 (sell out)
TV rating: 0.08 (60,030 viewers and 91,709 overall)

COLLISION
Saturday, week 3, July 2024
Bank of Springfield Center, Springfield, Illinois (7,700 capacity)
Announcers: Nigel McGuinness and Tony Schiavone

The final show before Blood & Guts start in the luxurious locker room of The Elite, where we see The EVPs Matthew and Nicholas Jackson and Adam Page along with Jack Perry and Jake Roberts. The Jacksons do most of the talking, saying the group are ready for violence tomorrow night, they are ready to bleed for AEW and they are ready to kick the asses of Steve Austin's men... they also say their fifth man is going to be in the double cage tomorrow night and who it is will send shockwaves throughout wrestling... though they don't drop any hints as to who it actually is. 67

TBS CHAMPIONSHIP
Ruby Soho (champion) v Billie Starkz

A very good opening match. The young Starkz proved a worthy challenger and showed she has a very bright future in AEW. She came up short in the end here, but she will have her day. Soho's win was in 8:38 by pinfall with a Destination Unknown. 62
Soho and Starkz have great chemistry
Soho now has the most women's singles victories with 13 (from 14 matches)

Renee Paquette is in the backstage interview area where she welcomes her guests the Women's World champion Jamie Hayter and her challenger tomorrow night Deonna Purrazzo, and she thanks them for agreeing to no physicality. Purrazzo says she has survived Hayter and Britt Baker's attacks, she beat Baker on Dynamite and she is still here, still going to win the title tomorrow night... Hayter responds by saying Purrazzo is only still here because she has let her... she wants the big money pay per view title defence... and tomorrow night she is going to knock her head off. 66
Hayter benefitted from public support

Best Friends v Impact
Impact have made an Impact since the trio of former TNA World Heavyweight champions arrived in AEW. They faced a tough test here and in a decent and pretty even match, they made it a trio of wins in 11:07 when Edwards submitted Beretta with an Achilles Lock. 61
Cassidy was really off his game
Cassidy benefitted from a hot new move

Alex Marvez has the World Tag Team champions Lucha Brothers and their spokesperson Alex Abrahantes with him. Marvez asks for their thoughts after losing in the main event on Dynamite and ahead of their title defence against Adam Copeland and Konosuke Takeshita tomorrow night... Abrahantes acknowledge that Copeland, Takeshita and Samoa Joe did pick up the win on Dynamite when Copeland pinned Penta... he continues by saying it won't happen twice as Lucha Brothers will keep hold of their titles tomorrow night. 62

FTW CHAMPIONSHIP
FTW RULES
Hook (champion) v Scorpio Sky (with Ethan Page)

A decent FTW Championship match, which isn't always the case. There was the usual plunder obtained from ringside - chairs, tables, kendo sticks and such like that was used by both men. Ethan Page got involved twice, the first time successful, the second time when he was put through a ringside table by a T-Bone suplex. With Page out of the equation, Hook got the better of Sky, winning in 8:51 by submission with a Red Rum. 61
Hook and Sky have great chemistry
Hook benefitted from public support
Hook has had 10 singles matches in AEW (winning 😎

In a regular and far less luxurious locker room than we saw The Elite in earlier, we see Steve Austin and his Blood & Guts team. They talk about the violent match tomorrow night... Austin says he has men on his team who are battle hardened... men who are tough S.O.Bs... men who can be very violent... they are ready to bleed and put their bodies through hell tomorrow night... Austin doesn't think The Elite are ready for what his men are willing and capable of doing. 80

Saraya.jpg.a2b46ad91df523cd80547f51bf973bba.jpg v StephanieVaquer.jpg.7fc15cae19a821f667ed40005f25b7f6.jpg
Saraya (with Harley Cameron) v Stephanie Vaquer
A decent match and an impressive showing by Vaquer. She caused the former Women's World champion a lot of trouble and for significant portions of the match looked the more likely winner. Saraya though used her cunning, short cuts and assistance from Cameron to prevail in 7:39 by pinfall with a Knight Light. 53
Vaquer out performed Saraya 58-44
Vaquer benefitted from being in amazing form

Sami Zayn comes to the ring and calls out MJF. The Long Island favourite came out and started ripping into Zayn, only for Zayn to give him back as good as he got... The trash talking ended when the two came to blows, only for AEW officials and arena security to rush to the ring and break them up. 73

OWEN HART FOUNDATION MEN'S TOURNAMENT SECOND ROUND
Samoa Joe v Wheeler Yuta (World Trios champion)

A great match up and a decent crowd. Yuta is ultra tough for his relatively small size and took a lot of Joe's best offence. Joe in the end out fought and out sized him, advancing in 12:21 by submission with a Kokina Clutch. 70 -  match of the night
Joe out performed Yuta 82-63
Joe and Yuta have great chemistry

Lexy Nair is standing with Bryan Danielson who had been watching the last match on a backstage monitor. Lexy asks the World champion for his thoughts on what he just saw... Danielson said it was an impressive win by Joe, but he didn't see anything new... he knew Joe is big and tough... he knows he can wrestle and hurt people... but he didn't show anything new in the match... so Danielson says he knows what to do tomorrow night. 64

MattJackson8.jpg.93720daa39c57135acccc73ddcc42a48.jpgNickJackson7.jpg.45e01e50363650ecf1b3feedc4e40c7a.jpg v DanteMartin.jpg.74ffcd31e74f1b0f5fee890e9da3ac5e.jpgDariusMartin.jpg.f4e5a9ae96010a643207a29438d2ba39.jpg
The EVPs v Top Flight
A good match which was fast paced and saw a lot of aerial action. The EVPs looked the better team through much of it and duly got the win ahead of Blood & Guts in 10:58 when Nicholas pinned Darius after an EVP Trigger. 70 - match of the night
Dante benefitted from a hot new move

In the arena concourse, we see the TNT champion Claudio Castagnoli and his challenger tomorrow night Miro hitting each other with hard, stiff shots. Neither man backs down or gives ground as they battle and it takes around a dozen lower card wrestlers who are backstage to seperate the two. 62

AdamPage3.jpg.c1f2ef3feb65286b4fc4178edec7b2d9.jpg v DrewGalloway11.jpg.d8b67a61f1828a8b8d0b9a2b3ce551f7.jpg
FOR THE MAN ADVANTAGE IN BLOOD & GUTS
Adam Page (with The EVPs, Jack Perry and Jake Roberts) v Drew Galloway (with Steve Austin, Kenny Omega, Eddie Kingston, Mark Briscoe and Jon Moxley)

This was a very busy match, it didn't take long for the groups outside to start fighting, which went around ringside and into the crowd. Amongst that chaos there was a wrestling match in the ring, which was decent with a lot of near falls. In the end it was Galloway who won in 20:25 with a Claymore Kick. That gives Team Austin the big advantage tomorrow night in the double steel cage. 70 - match of the night
Galloway out performed Page 76-66

FTR v The Acclaimed (with Daddy Ass)
The first Blood & Guts as a pay per view kicks off with a decent match between two former World Tag Team champions. FTR had control of this for the most part and out wrestled The Acclaimed. However, it was Bowens and Caster with their arms raised in 12:53 thanks to Caster pinning Harwood with a Mic Drop. 58

Becky Lynch is in the backstage interview area. She says she became one of the best... became a World champion elsewhere because she fights hard and kicks ass... Will Ospreay v Swerve Strickland (with Prince Nana)
A superb match and a hot crowd, on most other nights this would have been much higher up the card. Both men gave their all, both men landed their best offence and the crowd were on their feet. In the end it was Strickland who chalked up the win in 17:28 by pinfall with a Swerve Stomp. 75

A video plays showcasing the recent history between Nikki Storm and Jordynne Grace ahead of the next match, which Tony Schiavone informs everyone that Tony Khan has made it an I Quit match. 39

I QUIT MATCH
Nikki Storm v Jordynne Grace

Storm adopted a weird, wacky, somewhat maniacal and colourful look for this match while Grace came out looking wary as to what might be lurking around, or what Storm had brought to ringside. It didn't have as many weapons as most I Quit matches and Grace looked to use her power and submission moves to make Storm quit. It looked like it was going to be successful as Grace out wrestled Storm for a significant portion of the contest. Then with Grace stood over Storm and looking to inflict further punishment to try and make her opponent quit, the lights went out. When they came back on moments later, Storm was stood in the middle of the ring holding her pet, Matt the rat. Grace started shouting "get that thing away from me" before the lights went out again. This time when they came back on, Matt the rat had been joined by what was probably fifty of his friends, which led to Grace screaming "I Quit I Quit I Quit" in 11:22 before getting out of the ring as quick as she could and running past the baseball dugouts to the locker rooms. 60

The Elite are in the locker room. Matthew and Nicholas Jackson do one last team talk, motivating their team mates Adam Page and Jack Perry ahead of Blood & Guts... Page asks where the fifth team member is... Matthew says he is in the stadium... trust me when I say he will be in the match and you can trust him. 68

CLAUDIO'S CHALLENGE
Claudio Castagnoli (champion) v Miro

This was the stiff, hard hitting match everybody expected as Castagnoli and Miro went toe to toe with each other, not giving an inch. The Cleveland crowd voiced their approval. Amongst all the fists and kicks been thrown, there was some pretty decent technical wrestling too. Ultimately, the Swiss star retained in 14:29 when Castagnoli pinned Miro with a Neutralizer. 68
Castagnoli 68, Miro 63

Team Austin are seen in their locker room. Steve Austin tells his men they all know what to do... be the toughest, most violent S.O.Bs they ever have been and kick Elite ass. All five members of Austin's team are up for this one, they look pumped up and ready. 68

MJF v Sami Zayn
These two men couldn't be much more different personality wise and their feud has become hostile in recent weeks, having started when Zayn last eliminated MJF in the Casino Battle Royal at Double or Nothing back in May to earn a World Championship match at All In London. It all led to an exceptional match. Both men put in a tremendous performance, both men played their roles in the match and their hatred for each other to a tee and the match was also very close, keeping fans on the edge of their seats throughout. In a way it was a shame one had to lose, it was Zayn who won in 19:43 by pinfall with a Brainbustaaaaahhhhh!!!!! This could end up being match of the night... 83 - match of the night

WOMEN'S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
Jamie Hayter (champion) v Deonna Purrazzo

A pretty decent match in it's own right, but following the very high standard of MJF v Zayn was always going to be very tough. It came down to Hayter's power versus Purrazzo's intelligence and technical skill. On this night power won as Hayter retained in 13:23 by pinfall with a Hayterade. 64

Renee Paquette is backstage with Samoa Joe. Paquette asks for Joe's thoughts ahead of his World Championship opportunity tonight... Joe says he knows Danielson is weak... tonight he will show no mercy as he takes back his title. 71

Becky Lynch v 'Timeless' Toni Storm (with Luther)
A moment a lot of people have been looking forward to with excitement as Becky Lynch makes her AEW competitive debut against the former three time AEW Women's World champion Toni Storm. Lynch left WWE as the reigning Women's World Championship and famously left said title in the corner of an AEW ring when she made her AEW debut. She was very impressive here as she made one of the best female wrestlers in AEW look relatively ordinary and made good on her promise of fighting hard and kicking ass. Lynch rounded off a memorable debut in 16:16 when she took the match by pinfall with an Exploder Suplex, with louds cheers from the thirty plus thousand fans in the stands. 70

Bryan Danielson is now backstage with Renee Paquette. Renee asks the World champion for his response to Samoa Joe's comments earlier... Danielson says he is anything but weak... he feels as strong as ever and he won the title back at The Big Gamble because he was the best wrestler in the match... he says he is the best wrestler in the match again tonight so he will beat Joe and keep his title. 74

Lucha Brothers (champions, with Alex Abrahantes) v Adam Copeland & Konosuke Takeshita

The challengers are an unlikely team having been paired together in Black Lotus in the AEW League. They've earned this title opportunity by their wins in the league and then beating Big Bill & Ricky Starks in a number one contenders match. Then to add further intrigue, Copeland pinned Penta in a trios match on the most recent episode of Dynamite.
The match was superb, Copeland and Takeshita gave all they had and were close to bagging the belts. Lucha Brothers fought back though and were able to retain in 22:42 when Penta turned the tables and pinned Copeland after an Assisted Fear Factor. 77

It's now 02:49... but I continue... :D

A video shows highlighting the bitter feud between The Elite and Team Austin ahead of the double cage, weapon filled violence fest that is Blood & Guts, where Team Austin earned the man advantage on Collision last night. 63

AEWBloodandGuts.jpg.d7805ea263b8b7f3c99aa1c26a62b2e9.jpg
The Elite v Team Austin
If The Elite win, Steve Austin must leave AEW and Kenny Omega rejoins The Elite
If Team Austin win, Matthew and Nicholas Jackson must step down as EVPs

The first men for each team make their way down to the double cage...
EddieKingston2.jpg.e7d0fa4f22bf5178c58deb1579983dd4.jpg
MattJackson.jpg.ce827e21fcee3e261d87a16ff5be8b5f.jpg
So it's Eddie Kingston and Matthew Jackson to kick things off. Matthew goes aerial to start with and has quite a bit of success. It doesn't take long for Kingston to bring in some plunder though, as he gets three steel chairs, a kendo stick and a trash can and lid into the ring... which were conveniently placed at the bottom of the cage on the far side from the door. He goes to town on Matthew who is the first to bleed in the match on a couple of minutes in. A groggy Jackson manages to get in a low blow though, and a reeling Kingston is then hit with a DDT into the trash can, which causes him to bleed too before the third man even gets into the match. Speaking of which...
JonMoxley16.jpg.6dad75f3f34cb0de3cb17225e7b7544c.jpg
Kingston's buddy Jon Moxley makes his way down, arguably the most violent man in AEW. But he's not alone, Steve Austin comes with him and between them they carry a large barbed wire board along with a spool of barbed wire. This looks very bad for Matthew Jackson, though the barbed wire board is so big they struggle to get it through the cage door and into the ring. Eventually they do and with Kingston laid out by being hit with a Superkick Chair Party, Matthew Jackson is able to meet Moxley and kicks the spool of barbed wire into Moxley's head. Moxley is bleeding literally seconds after getting into the ring. Kingston recovers to a degree, as does Moxley and Austin's pair start to double team Matthew as the claret is already flowing freely...
NickJackson.jpg.e216af642edf7ba6db094fb45292ca10.jpg
The second EVP for The Elite sprints to the ring carrying a case, looking to help his brother. He does, as he bounces kicks off Kingston and Moxley to allow his brother to get back up. The Jacksons are surely prepared to fight for their EVP status coming out as the first two for their team. One EVP Trigger on Moxley and the master of violence is down. Matthew then opens Nicholas' case and pulls out two staple guns. The brothers then proceed to staple Kingston in his chest, arms and his face. The pain for Kingston is audible though he and Moxley are about to get some help...
DrewGalloway16.jpg.69180365618ee60866f93b1850417d85.jpg
Drew Galloway runs to the ring carrying of all things a whisky bottle. He smashes it over Matthew's head as he enters the ring, then proceeds to use the broken bottle to scrape across Nicholas' forehead, making him bleed quickly and profusely. This really is getting violent... Moxley reaches down the side of the cage and under the ring to pull up a small black bag. He then tips the contents over the part of the broken whisy bottle that is on the canvas and we now have a large pile of broken glass. Kingston feeds first Nicholas and then Matthew to Galloway, who body slams them both into the glass. Now they are both bleeding on their backs too...
JackParry3.jpg.b8bc013a74e6f49f567a420b6b2d902a.jpg
Next out is Jack Perry who has adopted a really dark look for this with his hair dyed black and wearing black jeans and boots. He brings a larger black bag to the ring but before he opens it, he attacks Moxley, Kingston and Galloway. His initial advantage is short lived as the three back him to a corner, only for the Jacksons to low blow Moxley and Galloway from behind, allowing Perry to hit a straight kick from the front to Kingston's nuts. He then reaches in the bag and pulls out three sharp spikes, which must be about eight inches long. They attack their opponents with them, now Galloway bleeds too...
MarkBriscoe3.jpg.5019efc4828949992576f7e6e42e214b.jpg
If anybody might rival Moxley for violence, it's the next man in, Mark Briscoe. He doesn't bring anything to the ring, which is a surprise, and instead of entering the ring, he starts to climb up it, and gestures for Jack Perry to do the same. Perry follows Briscoe and the two start fighting on top of the double cage, perilously close to a long drop. In the ring, The EVPs are getting beaten by Moxley, Kingston and Galloway who are now using the spikes themselves on their opponents...
AdamPage5.jpg.88c3a248ee872b4cc34a6fa91470f00e.jpg
Adam Page is next out. The Hangman brings horseshoes to the ring and cracks one over the heads of Moxley, Galloway and Kingston in turn. He hands more horseshoes to The EVPs, who are slow to use them having suffered a brutal beating, but do eventually join Page to get the better of Austin's men. Up on top of the cage, Briscoe and Perry are still fighting, at a measured pace so they don't kill themselves. Back in the ring and Moxley gets double suplexed into the glass by The Jacksons, Page hits a Buckshot Lariat with barbed wire wrapped on his arm on Kingston before Galloway gets put in the trash can and gets nailed with a Superkick Party...
KennyOmega4.jpg.c520e50cad4a0501e115b8a63c2d4947.jpg
Last man for Team Austin is of course Kenny Omega. Initially he gets triple teamed by The Elite but he does slowly get help from his team mates who understandably were slow to recover from what they endured. This allows Omega to utilise the barbed wire broom he brought to the ring, making Page bleed from the head before cracking The EVPs across the back.
Meanwhile, on top of the cage, Briscoe and Perry have made their way to the corner near where the time keeper's table is. The time keeper and ring announcer Justin Roberts clear the area and it's a good job... having hold of each other and trading blows, Briscoe and Perry come tumbling off the top of the cage. Perry crashes through the time keeper's table while Briscoe takes a horrendous looking fall onto the two steel chairs next to it. Briscoe looks in a very bad way as loud "HOLY SHIT" chants ring out... but that doesn't last long as the crowd start going absolutely mental...

SethRollins18.jpg.41ce676008e1c54682c92725238e6a7f.jpg
IT'S SETH ROLLINS! He was last seen in WWE over a month ago when he suddenly went off WWE TV while their reigning World champion. Team Austin are in total shock as Rollins climbs into the ring and immediately into a staredown with a bloody Jon Moxley. The crowd are erupting as the former Shield partners stare holes through each other... until The EVPs jump Moxley from behind. Adam Page sets up the barbed wire board over a table as Seth Rollins reaches into his pocket... and pulls out lighter fluid and matches. He sets the barbed wire board on fire before lifting up Moxley... and with the help of The EVPs delivers a Shield Triple Power Bomb to Moxley through the flaming barbed wire board/table. Moxley is screaming, he is on fire after all before security at ringside blast him with fire extinguishers.
It looks all over for Austin. Briscoe and Moxley are both out of it, Kingston and Galloway are a bloody mess, there is only Omega who seems to have much fight in him. He gets confronted by The EVPs, Page and Rollins, only for Kingston and Galloway to somehow, some way, appear behind them and crack steel chairs across the backs of The EVPs. Suddenly fortunes have been reversed and the three put down Page and Rollins before Omega reaches into his tights, where he pulls out some cable/zip ties. He hands some to Kingston and Galloway and they cable/zip tie Page and Rollins to the cage, on opposite sides of one of the rings. They leave Rollins alone, who tries without success to wriggle free. Kingston and Galloway hold up The EVPs on their knees as Omega picks up his barbed wire broom. He then proceeds to hit Page repeatedly across the mid section with the broom, before he starts on his head. Page's front is covered in blood and the anguish on both of the Jackson's faces is as clear as day. Eventually they can't watch it any more as they surrender in order to stop the savage beating of their friend Adam Page. Team Austin win Blood & Guts in 25:39. 72

The big one, Joe gets his World Championship rematch three months in the making after Danielson took the title from him at The Big Gamble.
It was a superb match and the crowd were hot, on a high from Blood & Guts they loved this change of action to a much more technical focused match. Joe proved to be the ultra tough opponent everyone knew he would be and looked like he would win the title back when he locked the Kokina Clutch on Danielson. Danielson manage to wriggle enough so the toe of his right boot just about touched the bottom rope. He fought back and was able to retain the title in 24:16 by pinfall with a Busaiko Knee. 80
