Funny Dusty Rhodes moment

For those of you familiar with Dusty Rhodes and his opinion of himself and the wrestling business, I present this quick story...on the WWE 24/7 On Demand service, they have a series called "Legends". It's a one hour show and basically it's a roundtable discussion about two legends per episode. This episode happened to be about The Iron Sheik and Andre the Giant, and the panel of experts were Michael Hayes, Pat Patterson, Jim Ross, Dusty Rhodes, and Mike Graham. They talked for a while and eventually Jim Ross asked a question about WrestleMania III. The question was, "Who do you think was the biggest influence in wrestling, Hogan or Andre?" The panel answered. Michael Hayes: "Andre" Patterson: "Andre" Graham: "Andre" Rhodes: "The American Dream Dusty Rhodes" Just thought that was funny. Also funny from that episode was The Sheik calling Mean Gene "A well-dressed Jew businessman."

How the hell was Andre a bigger INFLUENCE in wrestling then Hulk ****ing Hogan? The only thing Andre had on Hogan was size and aura, the only person Andre could have possibly influenced was The Big Show, who even ended up admitting he was actually a Hogan fan as well growing up.

People in the business, especially the "old-school" people. loved Andre because they felt he was good for the business, and did business the right way. He was an instant draw and was probably the top draw in wrestling for about 15 years in every territory he went to. Now, on modern wrestling, you can't really deny that Hogan had the biggest influence. He ushered in the charismatic promos and the almost cartoonish aspects of the business that hadn't been there before. So yeah, those guys were talking about the business of wrestling, not the actual in-ring stuff.

They're referring to the business. There's a distinct difference. They're harkening to a time when there was more than just one major promotion (every "area" had a major promotion back then). Arguably, without an Andre, there wouldn't BE a Hulk Hogan as we know him today.
