TEW2020 Discussion Thread
TeemuFoundation replied to Adam Ryland's topic in Total Extreme Wrestling 2020 General Discussions
Hmh. First feature announced that I don't really like. I was in favour of the 2016 way of doing things; in wrestling, stars are the draw. People pay to see the stars, rather than "match quality" or "show quality". However, having said that, if this was based on player feedback, it was probably the right call. Not a deal breaker anyhow. -

It's a game changer for me, personally. As someone who loves to mess around with mods, I can now make a mod base out of a savegame I love, make tweaks, what if scenarios, and whatnot, and end up with more stuff to play with. I really love this, and see tons of fun potential! It's also something I've wanted for a long time. It'd be cool if there was a way to carry over match, show, etc. history, as well, but I'm okay with things as is. -

This still doesn't allow for having Foley enter the Rumble three times as three different characters, but it's a start, hah. And who knows. Maybe elimination/battle royal style matches will see an improvement, as well. -

Huge and surprising update today. I wasn't expecting a journal entry on a Saturday. On the Fly booking is a serious departure from how the game has handled running shows up to this point, and I'm stoked to see such a shakeup to the tried and true formula. Like the entry says, this should make it feel much more like we're actually running a live show in a live environment. And I take it we can now have Mick Foley wrestle three times in one night, as Mankind, Dude Love, and Cactus Jack? Great one! Excited. -

Ah, huge one today! Unlike TEW 2013, which seemed outdated to me the moment TEW 2016 was announced, TEW 2016 is still a game I can play and have fun with today. It's so much better than 2013 - which I also love(d). But it's these sorts of quality of life improvements that I was looking forward to. The flash message feature alone is awesome by the sounds of it. Anything to reduce unnecessary clicks. I am a speedrunner, after all. Not in TEW, but in general, hah. Though that does make me thing. TEW Local to Global speedrun, anyone? I wonder what kind of a time would be possible. Does someone have an educated guess? Using the default data, with optimized strategies. -

I'd be willing to bet that it happens since it's pretty much par the course by now, but the game isn't finished yet, haha. Adam usually releases the open beta one week before the full release. There's still over a year to go. It's weird waiting a year plus for a new game after its announcement. -

<p>As a mod maker, I really hope things like ring announcers and backstage stuff won't get added since once the initial luster has worn off, the end result is just an unnecessary headache.</p><p> </p><p> Kinda like referees, honestly.</p> -

<p>That is awesome. Thank you, Adam. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> To MattyyOh: You seem to be new here, so don't take this as rude, but the way things work here is that all suggestions should be posted to: <a href="http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=244" rel="external nofollow">http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=244</a></p><p> </p><p> Adam goes through every single thread in that sub-forum when considering features for a new TEW. If things are suggested at random in random places, they get lost in the shuffle. So, always use the Suggestions forum when brainstorming. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p> -

<p>Speaking of mod making, question for Adam:</p><p> </p><p> A year or so ago, I spilled coffee on my previous laptop and lost a bunch of my mod stuff for TEW 2016, and that effectively killed my motivation to do anything TEW related for the longest time. I recently got the itch to redo some of the mod work I had, but to get everything the way it was, it's going to take a long time, the better part of a year.</p><p> </p><p> Does the new engine mean it's going to be pointless for me to do mod stuff for 2016 since it won't be functional with 2020? Or can either all or some of the stuff be converted from 2016 to 2020? I understand if this information you do not wish to reveal at this time, though.</p> -

<p>Hey now! I'm excited, man. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> I must admit. The next TEW was going to be the first in the series where I was ready to state that if it's simply written on top of the previous one, and doesn't include some major changes and improvements - especially to UI - I wouldn't be sure if I was going to be buying.</p><p> </p><p> Happy to read that this an ambitious project. And I don't mean that negatively - it's just that TEW 2016 has been serving me quite well, and the things I'm not happy with would probably require a brand new approach to things.</p><p> </p><p> I remember reading a post from Adam where he stated that in the next TEW, he was looking to completely rework the way popularity works, and that has me excited. I do think "popularity" as it stands in TEW 2016 doesn't quite reflect the wrestling business.</p><p> </p><p> I've fallen off the wagon as a wrestling fan since the release of the last game, but I always check out these forums daily in hopes for an announcement of the next TEW game. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p> -

If you hire a 100 people and 1 had A grade popularity and the rest had C, that system would leave you with 1 main eventers and 99 midcarders. That's not only impractical, it doesn't even make any logical sense, which I hope is obvious from even a cursory look at it.</div></blockquote><p> I'm not advocating for this and do like the way the system works, never had a problem with it, but the reason some people want this is probably because this is basically how the real life WWE operates. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Sure, there are a few guys in the main event, but for at least 15 years it's always been two-three main eventers, and then jobbers with nothing going on.</p><p> </p><p> But the real life WWE is not always a good example to set your AI on, in my opinion. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>
