  1. <p>I'm not here to really start an argument, or anything. Wrestling is subjective, we all have our views. If I were to make this game, I wouldn't use the Products system at all since I feel like it's not really how wrestling works, but it is how the game works. I may one day make a suggestion of the broader idea I have.</p><p> </p><p> I just don't really believe in this concept of a "100 match" in the sense of it needing to be a certain kind of match with a certain length and certain things happening in it. Wrestling is not real, it is an entirely subjective art form, and ultimately, the only real, objective goal of a wrestling match is to draw money. It's to evoke an emotional response, which leads to you getting invested in what is being presented to you - so that you keep spending money on it.</p><p> </p><p> The best match ever is simply the match that draws the most money. Objectively. Be it a minute, five, ten, or more. Now, subjectively, we all have our views. My favorite match ever is Owen and Bret from SummerSlam 1994 simply because I saw it knowing the result, but the match made me question whether or not I remembered correctly. That's how strong the storytelling was.</p><p> </p><p> It just doesn't mean that, objectively, the best wrestling match ever is 30 minutes inside a steel cage with those exact spots that took place. But anyhoo. I've just always rejected the idea that there is an objective way to create a "five star wrestling match". It depends on context, expectations, the story, just everything.</p><p> </p><p> But I also recognize that I have a vastly different way of looking at wrestling than the overwhelming majority.</p><p> (I still think I'm right, though <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> )</p>

Whoever heard of a 5 star squash match?</div></blockquote><p> Subjective. I had not watched wrestling in years, but checked out the PPV where Goldberg returned because, you know, old school fan. He squashed Lesnar in a matter of seconds. It was the best match on the card. Context: it was unexpected, so it got a positive reaction out of me. More than I can for wrestling matches in general these days.</p>
  3. It's my understanding that the penalties aren't too steep, or anything, but yes, they are set in stone, there's nothing you can do about them, and they are completely arbitrary with absolutely no context tied to them. They just exist, no matter what you do.
  4. It's good to remember that all the stuff that is obvious for all of us old, experienced members and players isn't all that apparent for newcomers. For someone that is new, TEW games have quite the learning curve. It's not like all the info is readily available in one place.
  5. Come on, people. No need to be so unfriendly. I think the confusion here is that the game wasn't really designed with real world mods in mind, and what I mean by that is, they're not official. The official game world is the one that comes with the game. The mods are all fan made, and highly subjective. Also, most, if not all, of the mods available right now are simply conversions of 2016 mods, and they have lots of balancing issues because they were originally made for the 2016 version of the game. It's gonna be a while since polished real world mods will be available. But even then, like I said, they're always very subjective, and personally I always disagree with real world mods, which is why I always make my own.
  6. Ah. Yea. Tha's fair. That's good for people who play other people's mods, which is the majority, yea. I've always, since TEW 2004, exclusively played my own mods, and I've also used the very same picture folder since 2004, so I have everything memorized after using the same folder for 16 years, hah. But yea, this is why I didn't put myself in the shoes of those who play other people's mods. So yea, that can be a benefit.
  7. In 2016, you can just type in "The Repo Man", and if you don't find what you're looking for, tap the down arrow once and type in "Barry Darsow", etc. etc.
  8. Yea, but like. I don't get it tbh. In TEW 2016, let's say I'm creating Shawn Michaels in the editor. I click on the picture to open the picture folder, as soon as I open it, the list is active, so I just type in "Shaw" or something similar on my keyboard, and I'm pretty much immediately at the top of the list of my Shawn Michaels photos. And if I'm looking for a specific one, I can just type in the full name of the file, "Shawn Michaels 73". So it hasn't really dawned on me what the benefit of the new search function actually is since in 2016 I always just used my keyboard anyway. The bonus being that I could also just scroll up and down once I arrived at the top of the list. No matter how you slice it, it's slower in 2020.
  9. This is what I ended up doing, as well. It's not optimal, but it's better than individually clicking through 300 pictures to find the right one for a worker, hah.
  10. Ye, I'm pretty sure Adam said he will add mouse and keyboard support, but it won't be possible for all lists in the game.
  11. The UI obviously is a big thing, I don't want to discredit that at all.
  12. I wasn't interested in when it's coming out, I was interested in whether or not certain changes/adds would make it into the game. I could easily wait a year, no problem.
  13. Now that the last patch has been released, I wonder if the game is done. Sans the new UI, which will be put in tomorrow. As in, are all features and changes now in? Do we now have the game that we will have? And things that haven't made the cut, won't make the cut?
  14. Yea, I think, in this scenario, Carelessness could be its own attribute.

  16. Maybe get rid of Safety, and have it sort of merged in with Basics? To me, that's a big part of Basics; it's knowing how to bump right, and how to protect both yourself and your opponent.

Since most of the matches I book in a year are TV matches, the typical match for me is in the 2-3 minute range. But yea, your point is fair. I'd love the ability to set a default, though, ye.</p>

I mostly play stuff like early 90s, and TV matches are 2-3 minutes.</p>
  19. Same, I'd be happy to wait until 2021 if it meant stuff like custom products and a few UI overhauls (that haven't been announced yet, or can be seen in the screenshots). And I don't even hate the idea of pre-set products, I just don't agree with how they've been implemented.
  20. I'll have a look at how the game is once it's finished, but it's still looking like a no. I'll try to muster through a full three month save with the final version of the trial and see how I feel. But there's still stuff I'm hoping to see in the patch notes. If not, then oh well. It's not even a huge deal, given how much I actually enjoy 2016, still.
  21. Big agree. And judging by the screenshots, the UI is going to be a giant leap forward. So, in the end, the experience will be better. Not looking to start a fight, however.
  22. I believe Shigeru's quote is from a time when games were released on cartridge, and couldn't be patched via the internet. So it's a bit different. There were some revisions and 1.1. cartridge releases for games back then, but obviously it's not the same, and couldn't be done on the same scale.
