  1. In all fairness, aren't games delayed all the time? Also, the 14th was never a promise, merely an estimate. And the current estimate is only off a day.
  2. Yea, I do think that this is partially down to the mods, as well. Out of Business means completely, utterly, and absolutely done with pro wrestling. They will never come back, not for a million dollars. So, in essence, mods should mostly set inactive guys and gals to retired, meaning they're retired now, but will listen to offers if thrown their way - and this is 99% of people. The difficulty for mod makers can come with situations like a Goldberg where a mod maker in 2015 probably would have set him as Out of Business - and his eventual comeback was actually a really big surprise. But I think retired is the way to go for most inactive wrestlers and personalities.
  3. To be fair, we don't know if its "for no reason". There may be a coding reason behind it.
  4. I mean. That's what I do, too, but I have the plans in my head already, so I don't count that towards "booking time". I usually come up with stuff when I'm walking my dog, or at the gym and whatnot. Well, for obvious reasons, one doesn't really go to the gym as things are right now, but you get the point. And I don't use the autobooker myself, either. But in 2016, the mechanics are so simple and I'm so used to them that booking a single TV show really doesn't take more than a few minutes. But I mean, it's all about how you process things. I usually just put guys in an angle and autoname the segment. I don't really go for angle titles that explain what takes place since it's just in my head. If it's something special, sure, but most of the time it's just "In Ring Interview with Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior", etc. Or "The Big Boss Man Attacks So and So After the Match". I think a lot of it comes down to having your angles easily findable, and using the autoname feature.
  5. Oh, and another thing that this was useful for was simulating celebrities. Now, I know that celebrities are not officially supported in TEW, and Adam himself has stated that celebrities should not be workers in the database because the game does not officially understand the difference between a worker and a celebrity. But it's still fun in 2016 to occasionally sometimes create a celebrity, bring him or her in for an angle, or the odd in-ring match. Especially since the introduction of Limited Involvement notes and whatnot. It's probably silly in "serious" gameplay, but it's fun, regardless. And in TEW 2016, you can create the celeb, bring him or her, have them do their thing, and edit them to Out of Business after you're done. In 2020, celebrities could be even more fun due to the new "draw" feature, and the fact that you can now pay outrageous wages to people you sign. So you could get the advantage of the "draw" of the celebrity, but as a self imposed challenge, you could also pay them a ridiculous sum of money. I guess in 2020, they'll just stay in the database as regular workers in the game world.
  6. I think the Narrative feature could be expanded upon to include things like retirements, comebacks, deaths, lengthy hiatuses, and what have you. I think deaths have been suggested, but it's been deemed too morbid. And while I understand, I also always feel kinda weirded out having, say, Chris Benoit hanging around in the database. But yea, retirements, comebacks, etc. It'd be nice to, at least, control those with Narratives - if the 2016 way of using the in-game editor is no longer viable. Maybe there's a coding limitation behind the removal because I think the in-ring/game statuses are treated differently in 2020, perhaps as part of the new perceptions feature. But that's me speculating.
  7. I've been critical of this version of TEW, but for what it's worth, I'm sure that the wait is worth it, considering the reason for the wait is Adam addressing all the feedback - as well as the artist creating the new UI that has been asked for. The end result, I'm sure, is a better game. I'm also convinced it's worth the few days. That said, of course it's understandable that some people find it a bummer.
  8. The resolution is fixed. It's a technical limitation of the programming language used.
  9. It's a combination of having a formula, and having simple, clear, easy to find pre-made angles with autonames you never have to mess with.
  10. I don't want to start any fights, nor will I take part in any silly debates and stuff. So if one ensues, I will step away. I'd just like to say - just as helpful advice - that the weird "the customer is always wrong" attitude coming from some people during the release cycle of this video game has been something I've found completely baffling. And maybe it should be reconsidered in the future. After all, the customer is always right when describing his or her subjective experience with a product or service. It's a really bad look when customers are told, in a roundabout way, that they're just wrong, and/or too dumb to understand a product's true brilliance. That's a surefire way to turn a customer away forever. I'm just talking as someone with a past (successful) career in sales. If you don't believe people are different, and experience things differently, go to a Mega Man speedrunning Discord, and say that one of the games in the series is the best. It doesn't matter which you pick, you can say 2, 3, 4, 7, 9, 11, whatever. No matter what you say, a fight will ensue because every game in the series has its own violent supporters. And every game that is loved and adored by one group of people is aggressively hated by another. Trust me. This is because people are different. Now, TEW is of course different in a sense because it's technically attempting to be the same game every time, just with better mechanics, at least theoretically. But still, just because you like the game, doesn't mean those who don't are objectively wrong, they just have a different opinion. Thank you.
  11. Yea, this is an unfortunate, yet big issue. It's actually kind of surprising how big of an issue it is, but it's huge. The game doesn't have an actual end, or a final boss, or a credits roll, so the sense of achievement is pretty much the only incentive to play. And when that's lacking, yikes. Absolutely zero motivation to play. Maybe larger and more rewarding segment/show grades are part of the new UI.

I wish it did make the game more challenging & that it was geared more towards my direction, for obvious selfish reasons. Unfortunately it isnt.</div></blockquote><p> So, it seems like sandboxers don't feel like the game is geared towards them, and now a note taker has stepped forward, stating the game isn't geared for him. I wonder who the target audience is, then.</p>

I know plenty of people who never gave up on EWR because they found their first experience of TEW 2016 was that it took them half an hour or more to book a show. Because they were <em>doing it for the first time</em>. So it's amusing to me now to see people pointing to TEW 2016 as an example of a streamlined, quick booking experience. It <em>is </em>that, because you've had years of experience of playing it, and TEW 2020 is a new game. <p> </p><p> I do get the impression that <em>some </em>people were expecting "TEW 2016 1.5", and aren't prepared to allow for the slight learning curve of a brand new game.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Otherwise - I don't think people speculating about what the "testing team" did or didn't do is helpful in any way.</p></div></blockquote><p> Yea idk. I've gone from EWR to TEW 2004, to 2005, to 2007, and beyond. I've enjoyed every game on release, despite different engines used in some instances for the new game. There has always been a learning curve, but unfortunately, this is the first game in the EW series that is actively simply not. fun. to. play. I hate saying it, but here we are. This has never happened before. I mean, maybe I'm just dumb and lack the required IQ to enjoy TEW 2020. Who knows. I've really tried, though.</p>
  14. I hope you realize the importance of accurate real world venues in your TEW mod making adventures. A lot of TEW mod makers fail to understand the impact that an inaccurate venue can have on an individual when playing a mod.
  15. Unfortunately, as thing stand right now, as of this writing, it's a no from me. I'm willing to give the official version a try, and I will try to fight through the 3 month trial period before I completely make up my mind, but considering I haven't been able to book more than one show in TEW 2020, I don't know when I get around to doing a 3 month save in that game. I have returned to the embracing arms of TEW 2016, and I do honestly feel way more at home. And let me say right now that I am in no way wanting to dislike the game. I really wanted to like - and I still hope that my mind changes upon final release due to things getting patched. I've liked every EW game I've played thus far, I've never gone back to an earlier release after getting the newest game in the series on day one. Albeit I did feel, and still do, that TEW 2004 did a remarkable number of things better than any of its predecessors, especially when it came to immersion, but anyhoo. It's hard for me to pinpoint exactly why it is that 2020 keeps pushing me away, and feels so unfun to play. The game finally has a few features I've been wanting since 2004 and 2005. So, stuff I have legitimately been waiting about 15-16 years for. These features include block tapings and the ability to edit chemistry mid-game. Both are huge things for me. And there are more things, too. But there's just something about the game that keeps pushing me away. I appreciate some changes, but for every positive change, it feels like the game has two things that annoy me. It feels difficult to get things done, and playing the game actually feels like work, as opposed to having fun - which is what I'm after. I always feel like such an outsider when people talk about using Excel for their TEW savegames, keeping notes, having these elaborate plans, haha. I just play and book. I have some stuff in my head, but I really just paly for fun. I guess this is a big reason why 2020 just doesn't jive with me that much; a lot of people over the years have complained about TEW games being too easy. I've never had this issue because I've never played TEW for the any kind of challenge it may or may not provide. It's just been this fun way to kill time, really. But I think 2020 aimed to address a lot of the things about the difficulty that have been brought up. This, then, lead to this game where our hands are cuffed way tighter than before. I also feel that maybe it's because the game was aimed at the hardcores who truly do play the game with the help of Excel and hundreds of external notes that everything taking so long was never seen as a possible issue. Me, I'm the kind of player who wants to spend a few minutes, tops, per show. The way I have all my custom angles, autonames, etc. and everything setup, I can book a TV show in a minute in 2016 probably. Something about 2020 just seems clunkier, despite the fact that the added space was supposed to make it smoother and faster. This was also the biggest selling point of the game, which excused the fact that it didn't have that many actual show stealing features - save a few. I was looking forward to the much hyped UI. I don't know what happened, and I won't speculate here. I just read that it takes someone 30 minutes to book a show in 2020 - and I'm assuming this is someone who quite enjoys the game. This is so foreign to me since I could never enjoy it taking half an hour to get one show done in a TEW game, but it goes to show me that perhaps I'm just not in the target audience. This is aimed at the hardcore gamers of the series. And that's fine. Not everything is geared for everyone, that's just how it goes. And even though I initially was in favour of the pre-set products in theory - and I still feel like they can work really well - the way they're setup, and due to their effects on gameplay, I can't help but feel like the products are there to make your life harder. They are there just to ensure people don't get off too easy when playing the game. I've always disagreed with the creator on certain aspects of wrestling, and I've always noticed this when palying TEW - but for instance in 2016 it didn't matter almost at all because there was a workaround for everything. That's the best part about 2016. Like, when it comes to certain stuff in wrestling, such as what gets heat, what doesn't, what works, what doesn't, how some things are done, this, that, the other, I'm fairly convinced I'm right. And it would take quite a lot of convincing and concrete evidence to convince me otherwise. In 2016, again, this was not an issue because I could work around things. 2020 effectively blocks these workarounds. And that's an issue for me. I'm also not telling Adam to agree with me on every view I have on pro wrestling because wrestling is so subjective, but being forced to effectively play in the Cornellverse, even in real world mods, is an issue for me. I guess the thing is, the series is taking steps that are making me feel like it's just not for me anymore. The game is aimed at hardcore pro elite gamers who play the Cornellverse, and the EWR leftovers like me who just want to fantasy book in a sandbox while receiving a false, yet addictive, sense of accomplishment in the way of easy A* rated segments seems to be a group the series wants to finally get rid of. At least that's how it's started to feel. Maybe in the future, the game is finally purely only and exclusively aimed at those who are interested in spending a small lifetime learning every character and nuance in the fictional Cornellverse, and real world mods are phased out. I've mentioned before here that my other gaming related hobby is speedrunning Mega Man X, and given how I am top 5 in the world (yes, I had to throw that in there), the hobby mostly consists of me resetting my Super Nintendo on the first two stages of the game for hours on end, grinding for the optimal RNG to even get a run started. The first stage of the game is also so mash intensive, I am currently taking a break due to pain in my wrist. So I'm really not looking for a challenging grind when I play TEW. I want it to be chill, run, and relaxed. But that's obviously just me. TL;DR it's a combination of the clunkier UI, it taking so long to get from A to B in a lot of cases, the pre-set products being too handcuffing for chill sandbox fantasy booking, as well as me just simply disagreeing with the way they're setup. As well as 2016 just feeling like it fits my playstyle more. Yea, it's easier and simpler, but honestly, I just like it that way. I'd like to get a few of the 2020 features to 2016, but given how much fun 2016 is, I can live without them. Whereas the feeling of not having fun in 2020 is too much to overcome. I don't mind that much, though, actually. I kinda missed out on 2016 due my laptop breaking once I finally had my mod stuff done for it, and before I started again from scratch, my financial situation improved tenfold, opening up a lot of life opportunities, and I also just started dating at the time, so playing video games was the last thing on my list back then lol. So I'm actually pretty stoked right now to dive into 2016 more. It's a fun game and I enjoy it. I will still try to muster my way through the official version of the trial once it's out, and see how things are.
  16. There will be an official post about, as has been stated.
  17. Maybe it's me being a speedrunner, so I'm just so super used to stuff like this, but editing the attributes really isn't that big of an issue for me since when I enter the dropdown menus, I have a lot of the attributes so memorized already. Like, in order to get to this attribute, it's this dropdown menu and then four presses of P, etc. I guess it's just that in speedrunning, we learn to muscle memorize stuff like that all the time.
  18. They were able to do it before. This is the reason. Give a kid a third of an ice cream, and he's happy; give a kid a full ice cream, then take it away to eat two thirds of it, and then give him that third of an ice cream, he's unhappy. Even though it's the same third of an ice cream that was perfectly capable of making him happy in the first scenario. People are simply disappointed about how something like that was taken away, and their enjoyment of a TEW game had relied on it being possible for them to do the stuff they now can't do. There's really nothing strange about that. It's basic human psychology 101, and it's not doomposting lol.
  19. I think you can use them in matches, but they're still technically retired. I don't know how overuse penalties work when doing this, though.
  20. http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=70230 ^ This should still be more or less correct. Not entirely, there have been changes, but this gives you a really good, rough idea.
