  2. Possibly just 'never won a diary award' before? Might be hard to keep track of, but there's scope for a writer to start and stop several times before clicking enough to start gaining momentum - I had 5 diaries, I think, before my MAW diary caught people's attention. Only one of them really went more than a few months and a few shows, but they informed what I was doing after that, which I guess is the whole point of being a rookie - learning what works, what doesn't... Winning the 'new writer' award would be a recognition of progress, rather than necessarily the passage of time.
  3. I've got the PDFs for 10 Simple Rules, A Quiet Retirement and Ages 65... if that's any use. I can probably put them up on Rapidshare or similar for a bit, although I don't have a paid account.
  4. Wow! Thanks, MHero, that's amazing If I could be cheeky, would there be any chance of a turquoise one as well?
  5. Could anyone take a shot at recolouring Scarlet Samurai/White Samurai, please? Preferably plain colours - purple, green, blue, orange... Anything like that. Failing that, IDing other characters with that style of eyeslit mask (like Fumihiro Ota and Ultimo Soetsu) would be great!
  6. I have a horrible feeling at least one of my games is still licensed to my old laptop that I've put 10 on as a test... Sorry if so, Scott; I think it's only one.
  7. <p>Yeah, that was my approach to 10 Simple Rules - I wanted to book a Rip/Jay feud, I wanted to explore Rip's character and relationship with my UC, and I wanted to sign and push Frankie Perez as he'd starred for me in MAW in my 2007 game. That was pretty much the sum of my goals for the game; All the rest was busking it as I went along. Even Kirk Jameson's success in that was pretty much wholly off the back of 2 or 3 good matches seemingly out of nowhere.</p><p> </p><p> Check me, referencing a 5 year old diary most folks have probably never read <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

That should give you some motivation to get to what you want to write up. For instance, in my 2009 game, I REALLY wanted to read people's reactions to Bray Wyatt's debut, so when I had shows I didn't want to write up, knowing that i was going to get there motivated me to keep going.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> My advice is not to book too far ahead, though. In my current diary I booked a framework up to a year ahead (more, technically) and the actual writing became a slog. Even though I knew where I was going, the stuff leading up to it was just... prologue. While I left room for fun stuff along the way, knowing that the main storylines were set didn't leave me much flexibility for a lot of the main players.</p>
  9. I have a soft spot for the misfits as well - Vikki Victoria, Stretch the Chicken Boy (as was), the Minor Annoyance, who I always wanted to team with the Big Problem... Even less useless workers like the Paratroopers, Alan Parent and the like could fit into a company like that. There'd be a lot of ways that sort of thing could go. Would you use those guys just for the 0-10 popularity spring before you rise to Small? Would you just focus on having them fight one another and other equally poor workers indefinitely? Would there be the odd 'real' talent coming in to work the main event and boost ratings? A quick search of TEW dynasties going back to 2005 only gives 28 hits for 'Vikki', just to pick the most established name off that list. I'm willing to guess that at least 20 of those only have her as a news item or similar, rather than on the roster. It'd definitely be something new, and I'd be intrigued to check out the first show to see what you make of it. * BP, thanks for the response!
  10. So I'm starting to think about a new project, and one of the things I want to do is keep better track of my wrestlers - details like key rivalries, career highlights, typical ring gear and so on. I find small details like that can really add to the sense of a well-rounded world, and as any new diary I go with is likely to be a much smaller company with fewer wrestlers and fewer shows, I would expect to have the time to keep track of things like that. I'm curious whether anyone else uses a separate document to keep track of things like that, or do you just go from memory?
  11. The link to Mark Cuban appears to be for the Henry Lee PDF. Of course, since UploadHero won't let me download it, it's hard to be sure
  12. Fantastic to see a new release. I'm tempted to dive into HGC... maybe even play as Chord or Strong!
  13. Odd. It's locked for me too as I'm not logged into RS. I'll sort it out tonight, I probably just need to edit the permission or something. I'm new to RS, so I'm still figuring out how it works.
  14. Go ahead. My RS account is a freebie, anyway, so I can't vouch for how long the link will last.
  15. For WIRE (and Supreme) pdfing them is easy enough - they're both in Word documents, fully formatted and ready to go. They lack pictures, but until and unless mistaken get's very bored they should do as a stopgap. I'll try and do them soon. In the meantime, and with all credit to the original compiler, Scapino's SWF diary can be found at http://rapidshare.com/files/507166472/SWF.pdf
  16. I've just realised that someone did Scap's (first) SWF diary as a PDF a while back. I'll upload it when I get a chance. The document author's listed as eramsdel, but I don't recognise the name from the forum.
  17. Out of curiosity, who would I need to speak to about getting a 2010 diary moved into the 2013 forum? It's a long, long way down to 2010 now...
  18. So I typed this up, and it ended up being five pages long. A bit much for a preview, so here's a trimmed-down version. A preview of a preview, I guess... * The locker room of a wrestling company. Some things never change: The stench of liniment, the heady mix of tobacco and weed, the crates of rapidly emptied forties... Miss it? No. Not now – it’s been too long, and I've got a lot going on in my life. That I'm here at all is just a fluke. My sportswear company has started an 'edgy' sub-brand (believe me when I say that the person who used the word 'edgy', inverted commas and all, is no longer my employee) and we were looking for companies to sponsor. I don't miss this... but it doesn't mean that I can't appreciate it. Looking around the place, I can see the same mix of up-and-comers, has-beens and never-weres with whom I mingled for much of my career. One match changed all that, but then one match changed it all again. My life took a different path to the one I was expecting. I can see in their eyes that, for a lot of the other men in this locker room, life took an unexpected path for them as well. No-one really expects this company to be the next SWF. No-one really expects it to be here in twelve months' time. I looked a little closer. The same mix? Damn near the exact same people that were here last time I had a gig. Including... "Eric?" He looked up, and gave me a half-smile. "Hello, James. Mitch said you'd be here tonight. He seemed excited." I shrugged. "Yeah, I hoped he'd be excited about the deal, but..." Mitch Naess is the company owner, I suppose, but a less business-like figure it was hard to imagine. For most of the meeting he'd just wanted to talk about DaVE, where I'd had my last gig. I shook my head. Eric was watching me, his smile threatening to widen. "Got time to talk?" he asked. * Eric looked up at me from beneath his eyebrows, in a way that – when I recalled the conversation in my hotel room later that night – I would recognise as coolly calculating. “You know, Mitch is looking for a real investor. Put the money in, and you’d be able to have a say. You know that Mitch is no businessman. So does he, and he’d be happier sitting back and calling the shows.” “He’s not that good at that.” “Even so. If you did come in, the boys would be happy to see you – someone who knows wrestling and business? They’ll think they’ve died and gone to heaven.” “Until I started handing out pink slips.” “You can’t turn Pittsburgh into California, James.” “I wouldn’t want to. But there’s a lot of people in that locker room who have no business being paid money to wrestle, if you can call what they do that.” “If you buy into the company, do me a favour – hold off on the firings. Give them six months.” “Why?” “They’ve earned it.” “Do you know what they say about gratitude in business, Eric?” “No, what?” “It’s the politest way to go bankrupt.” He laughed. * I flexed my knee. In truth, it felt better than the one that hadn’t been ripped in two, nearly twenty years ago. Being a multi-millionaire certainly had its advantages. If I needed to get back in the ring- I stopped. I looked over at Eric, who returned my look with a knowing smile. “It never leaves, does it James?” “No. That’s why I’m here... but I’m not here to buy PSW and push myself to the top.” “It may not be why you came here, but you have to admit, you’re thinking about it now.” I was. And I still was, days later, when I picked up my phone and made a few calls. And I still was, weeks later, as I sat in the locker room and scrawled my signature on the contract that makes me the majority owner of Pittsburgh Steel Wrestling.

From there you'll not only get the basic in ring action, but you'll also be taken right into the middle of the FBI investigation of Richard Eisen.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I like it. The idea of one of them getting right into the inside is an interesting one, although whether they'd be any better off in the company than out is another matter. Short of Christian Faith, I don't know if any of the workers have that much access to Richard Eisen. Still, seeing how he trys to get close should be an interesting one.</p><p> </p><p> *</p><p> </p><p> Bri, your NYCW diary is the reason I play the CVerse, so if you do come back then you'll have a guaranteed reader in me - never mind that Joey Minnesota is one of my favourite characters as well!</p>
  20. Jericho asking 'Why?' and bursting into tears could go several ways. Just off the top of my head: - Why am I back here among the sheep? Why couldn't I get famous with Fozzy/DWTS/that conveyor thing? - Why am I back here to destroy these people? They love me, and I love them... and I'm here to end the world? - Why did I hand myself over to 'her'? Lots of places to go from here. I can understand people being annoyed that WWE haven't provided a new Undertaker to back up the eerie videos, but Jericho breaking down mid-ring is intriguing. I thought Raw this week was a lot of fun. It reminded me a lot of the shows from ten years or so back, when Kane was last popping out from behind doors to go after Shane McMahon and RVD, if memory serves. Good wrestling, advancement for Bryan and Ziggler, 'Big Johnny', the Jericho thing, Mason Ryan's continued evolution into Batista... Good stuff all around.
  21. <p>Think of it this way: Who would they fight?</p><p> </p><p> A man should be judged by his enemies, and all that. How serious a threat is the character in universe? <em>That's</em> their level of popularity - a mixture of renown, power and ability. A few examples of how I believe the ratings can be interpreted:</p><p> </p><p> Onslaught: Terrifies people, has/had huge power and can/could do near enough anything he/it wanted. He was recognised as a world-ender, and should be rated as such - I would suggest Legendary, although arguably Major League would be more appropriate.</p><p> </p><p> Captain America: In terms of sheer power, Cap's not on the same page as a lot of his allies or enemies. But in his case he's a leader with huge respect from people way more powerful than him. He's at the top end of human/near-human heroes in any time period purely for his influence and ability to go up against much more 'dangerous' enemies. He's Renowned, but can command allies much more popular (game mechanic definition) than he is such as Thor, Hercules and so on. Cap on his own would be a Combat Wombat kind of guy - but his teams would be capable of huge feats when they work together.</p><p> </p><p> Magneto: His goal (in 1991) is world domination, and he has the power, drive, charisma and intelligence to potentially pull it off. Tellingly, it's not long after this point where Xavier assembles the strike force to go in and <em>kill</em> Magneto. I would see KiloWatt in the default database as being the Magneto analogue, so Major League feels right.</p><p> </p><p> Spider-Man: Renowned again - He tends to fight the street-level hoods, but at the same time he can throw down with the Doc Ocks and even Dr Dooms of the world. He's also highly-regarded enough in-universe to be accepted as an Avenger and a member of the FF, and even if that's a long way off in the mod's future, he's still well regarded in the timeframe. You could, however, argue the case for him being 'just' Well Known at this point, but I think I'd say that given how highly rated he'd be in nearly of the stats (only Magical [and, arguably, Technological as he's more a chemist/biologist, although he's mainly a huge science nerd] would be 'weak' for Spidey) he's probably Renowned... In that sort of area, anyway.</p><p> </p><p> That's my two pennorth - hope it helps.</p>
  22. Could you not have X-Men Blue, X-Men Gold, and just X-Men as a combined team? Having started following comics around this time (I actually have X-Men #1) that seems a fairly reasonable representation of the way the groups worked.

So I won't say it. I will say though, if it IS the reason, it sure is bad timeing. She could have had a child first and then signed on with the WWE. WWE wouldn't chance putting a pregnant woman in the ring (although I know some female athletes continue to compete until well into their nine months). Great news for her, not so great for any chance of the Diva division developing over the next year or so.</p>

Hopefully some day you can put stylus to tablet again, but if not then thanks for all the hard work.</p>
