  1. Here's the thing though; real world products are not set in stone. They evolve and change over time either through major shifts (mid 90's WWE to late 90's WWE) or small shifts in tone or setting. Lets use NJPW for instance. Every decade has changed in how the product was presented or focused on. NJPW often had non-clean finishes in the 70's and 80's for major matches, there were gimmicky wrestlers, there were wild out of control brawls. By the 90's that had changed where the focus was put significantly more on in-ring work but there were still angles and events going. Early/mid 00's had Inokism and a "return" to a much more shoot fighting/"realistic" focus on legitimate tough guys. Late 00's and 2010's saw a revitalization on the focus on ring-work but also a rise in characters and flamboyance. 2010's also saw a return in non-finishes and interference akin to what 70's and 80's NJPW saw (though less infuriating or causing NCO/DQ's in major matches). But at the core of NJPW it's still fundamentally been the same promotion even if aspects of it have changed over time. That's the issue. As TEW 2020 is right now, there's no way to change or adapt the promotion over time without making grand sweeping changes to the style. You couldn't run a realistic NJPW because you can't make those subtle (though important) changes throughout the years.
  2. It makes no sense to remove time decline due to "power gaming reasons" when you can do the same exact thing with next big thing and hot prospects section. You can just restart games over and over until you get destiny rolls you're satisfied with. Either time decline needs to be added back or NBT & HP need to be removed. It makes no sense to have some power gaming but not all power gaming.
  3. But if I can jump in here, as someone who has beta tested software himself (admittedly not as big as TEW); I hit a CTD with 2020 within about twenty minutes of playing the trial. I was just looking around trying things and wham, CTD. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary, it wasn't some super obscure thing I did, specifically I asked an unemployed worker if they'd do a deathmatch to see what would happen. That's pretty egregious. I'm by no means attacking the beta testers but part of beta testing is trying random crap out for the sake of trying random crap out just to see what will happen and how the game/program will respond. Even if it doesn't make sense to do it, you still try it to see what will happen. It's less about actually playing the game and more experimenting, poking and prodding to find issues. Then once that's settled you can turn to more long-term issues. A player really, really shouldn't find something like that so easily. The bug's been fixed since obviously but other CTD's existed. You can't catch every bug or error but you should still be able to catch the easily reproducible ones like these through normal beta testing. It's one thing if the error is in a super obscure manner like clicking on a notification of a birthday for a worker that fell on January 29th causing some weird overflow issue compared to clicking a UI element. People shouldn't be insulting the beta testers or hurling insults but do I feel like maybe the ball was dropped a little bit? Yeah, I do. But they're human. It happens. I also don't understand how no one stopped that skin from being released. I can't imagine Ryland, or the graphics designer or the beta testers could have possibly thought it looked okay. From the moment I saw the screen it felt like my eyes were being burned and I literally couldn't focus on anything text related.
  4. Having now played with this this is a massive, massive upgrade. Easily the best skin so far.
  5. Love the look of this. Just muting the colors and getting rid of all the white helps tremendously.
  6. I thought for sure that would be one of the changes given how ridiculous they were in 2016 but there doesn't seem to be anything done there. They are so far ahead of everyone else that catching them seems near impossible. Even with the penalties to size they have so much money that closing isn't a possibility. I thought for sure there had to be a narrative that knocks them back down to size but nope nothing there. What gives? Is it so the game world has some big boss or something? They're even rigged to start dominating every region of the game world; by default they're either #1 or #2 in pretty much every region they're in as is.
  7. It makes sense that Maeda would "protect his guys" but as a player it kind of sucks. There's not much you can get out of guys like Ippitsusai, they have no skills to pass on and they're in terminal decline. Roku Satomura and Nobuharu Yokokawa are still serviceable and can pass on some skills. Atleast in past games Shiga had maxed out basics and psychology that made him useful (if terrible) at training rookies. I do recommend buying the GCG titles if only to complete BCG's victory. It's a small drop in the bucket. All three belts are about...50,000 or so bucks. I'd also pump some money into the dojo, again relatively small drop in the bucket. Though in the latest patch and database all the belts seem to be missing...
  8. BCG is my main promotion so I'm happy to see that not only are they alive but they're one of the few promotions in Japan with growth and momentum going on. It seems very specific that all the other major promotions are struggling with new stars while a good 1/3rd of BCG's is made up of promising young talent. I really like the idea of Mabuchi Furusawa going to BCG and instead of being an invader, he's been embraced as being "Home". BCG won the war and the son of GCG's main owner embraced them. SUKI seems more positioned as an invader of sorts. I also like that there hasn't been another baffling decision like a Blast Ikoma winning the world title like in 2016. Closest is Rokuemon Matsushita winning the YM GP but that's in the realm of possibility. He's still as iffy in-ring as 2016 but it's understandable why they'd have tried with him. The main event scene is pretty great but it seems pretty important to get Tanyu Toshusai, Yoshinaka Taku & SUKI up there ASAP. The midcard in general is spotty. It makes sense why Maeda would keep around the likes of Sofu Ozawa and Yorii Ippitsusai but they really suck. Animal Harker doesn't make much sense to me, neither does the American Cobras. Yoshizawa & Miura still suck as "tag aces". Dynamite Narahashi is pretty useless. The brightside is the rookies are generally all really good with Takenori Doi and Ikki Hosaka seeming like the two stand outs. You could easily shore up the midcard with some free agent signings and key firings. There's a lot of really, really good talent out there. Azumamaro Shimizu, Danjuro Kikuchi, Kyuichi Matsumoto, Masashi Urogataya, Omezo Shikitei, Shingen Miyazaki & Yasuhide Tayama. Plus a lot of rookies with strong potential, my favorite being Goro Hatamoto who just screams CV Rookie Shibata with his traits. I don't understand why there's three road agents (unless I missed something about road agents only being able to do so many matches). Murakami seems completely pointless to have when you already have Shiga & Maeda. I really love the new tour system (it's almost exactly how I'd run tours in 2010 and 2016 with individual named shows) but the names are really, really bad. I can't recall my exact BCG show names (I lost my 2016 save cause of reinstalling Windows) but I know I named the tag league the Kazu Yoshizawa Tag Team Grand Prix. Much better then "TagMania" or whatever it is. I'm pretty sure my year end show was the Black Lion Festival or something. Again, better then "Generations". The last thing is growth. BCG starts with two TV deals; one for the big events live and one for tour highlights. That means you're gonna grow pretty fast. BCG's basically engineered to reach medium pretty easily. You'd have to mess up pretty bad to not reach it relatively quickly it seems like. Overall I'm pretty excited. There's a ton of potential in BCG and how it'll play out. Depends on how aggressively PGHW and BHOWTG poach talent but I'm not sure how that works in the new systems. If you can keep the key talents it seems like a pretty easy game.
  9. This is a great improvement. My question is if this can go further? I'd love to see the first screen completely darkened like the other screens and an option for the gold buttons to be either a darker golden shade or dark as well.
  10. <p>I have a question regarding positive tag chemistry.</p><p> </p><p> Is it better to have a tag team of top stars with great skills but no chemistry versus less popular/less skilled wrestlers with chemistry? IE, how much does chemistry boost the tag skills of wrestlers?</p><p> </p><p> I typically try to stick to chemistry but would I have better results using better wrestlers/more popular wrestlers as a team without chemistry as long as it's not negative?</p>
  11. <p>How are Kikkawa and Okazaki in terms of skill? I always assumed they were pro-wrestlers kind of faking the MMA thing/not being actually very good at fighting for real like Takada IRL.</p><p> </p><p> The game could definitely use some super popular "cans" for lack of a better term.</p><p> </p><p> Edit: Checking them out, I think Kikkawa might be a little too strong but Okazaki seems okay. I do think their physical stats should be lowered due to their time as pro-wrestlers. They should probably be at 90-80% to reflect the toil on their bodies. That's all just opinion though. </p><p> </p><p> Also, small error with Bingci, you have him set to 15 popularity unknown in Australia and 0 popularity national in Asia. I'm guessing those got mixed up?</p>
  12. Another option would be SHW's. The division sucks as it is in the default data, so a booster pack or two would be good just to up the diversity.
  13. I like making Australia an active region, so I think a five pack or two would be cool for that. Same thing with the other underrepresented regions like Africa or Central America.
  14. You may want to look into how you've set up the downloads folder structure wise. I had some trouble getting the game to recognize the databases. Ended up having to make two separate databases within the game for each and then combined the two packs using importing. That or I'm just an idiot. That's always an option. Anyway, great work on the packs. I checked them out and they're nice fleshed out fighters with unique personalities/stats. Always super appreciated.
  15. <p>I "cheated" and started a new game making myself owner using Derek B's revised data. So I could actually fight against the talent raids. Because of that I was able to keep mostly everyone in this current game. I let some people go but that was because I didn't feel like dishing out to keep them.</p><p> </p><p> I also gave up on trying to roleplay as BCG with it's isolationist policy and have brought in guys working elsewhere and started up a working agreement with Japanese Championship Wrestling (I think I accidentally left them to start up from a past failed game). </p><p> </p><p> So the game is kind of cheating but I'm having much more fun and actually feel like this is the real BCG. Being able to keep Okamoto, Tanyu & Yoshinaka Taku completely changes how the promotion feels. I probably will go in and edit in loyalty for Tanyu, Okamoto & Y. Taku for any future games I play. There's no reason why they aren't loyal from what I've seen.</p><p> </p><p> Anyway, in this current game, Funakoshi just beat Torii for the world title and American Demolition won the TagMania/Kazu Yoshizawa Grand Prix (as I rename it) then the tag titles. That led to Yoshinaka Taku turning on his father and joining Noritoshi Miura (Yoshizawa bailed) with various "outsiders" to form Black Dawn which consists of in full, Tsuneyo Yanagimoto, Azumamaro Kita, Hitomaro Suzuki, Omezo Shikitei, Yoshinaka Taku, Noritoshi Miura, Kiyotaka & Tatsukichi Shichirobei who formed a team in JCW with Yoshinaka Taku called "New Blood". </p><p> </p><p> I tried weekly shows for a month but lost nearly a hundred grand, so I'm back down to two shows per month. Hovering around a million but I'm building momentum so it should pay off soon if the Tsunami when it hits doesn't eat my lunch.</p>
  16. <p>Everytime I play my BCG game I get raided. Out of the entire BCG starting roster I only have seven left and the only reason I still have Funakoshi, Torii, Matsushita & Ikoma is because they start loyal. Aside from that all I have left is Shiga, Toshinobu Taku & Bulldozer.</p><p> </p><p> This last round took Hitomaro Suzuki and Nobuharu Yokokawa (who'd just had a break-out match with Funakoshi). Round before that took Yoshinaka Taku, Kadonomaro Kamisaka and some others.</p><p> </p><p> My roster doesn't even <em>feel</em> like BCG anymore and I've become gunshy about pushing anyone since that seems to be when PGHW & GCG come calling.</p><p> </p><p> I think Loyalty needs to be either better explained or tweaked. My roster has a lot of rookies/young guys on it now, but they're not loyal. So it's kind of just a waiting game until GCG or PGHW or BHOWTG decides Gidayu Katou is a fine pick up which isn't realistic to real-like Japanese pro-wrestling.</p>
  17. <p>Can wrestlers still get stolen during touring contracts? I'm wondering because I've never seen the AI go after anyone on a touring deal but they'll go after PPA's quite often.</p><p> </p><p> I mean specifically they get signed and immediately start instead of fulfilling the tour contract.</p>
  18. Holy crap those shows. I can barely do C+'s with BCG up to May.
  19. I've been doing my GP and it's like the AI knew. They've raided me hard right before the tournament taking Matsuzawa, Miura, Okimasa, Narahashi & Findlay. And then during the GP GCG came for Yoshinaka Taku who I'm trying my best to keep. I'm in a position where I'm becoming terrified to push anyone since the only four people who are loyal are Ikoma, Funakoshi, Torii & Matsushita. But Ikoma & Matsushita aren't very good so that leaves you with Funakoshi & Torii to literally carry the entire company.
  20. <p>If I had to guess, and assuming there's a <em>plan</em> for BCG, that we're supposed to see BCG as having been very badly booked. Okamoto won the Maeda GP in 2015 but lost to Ikoma, who inexplicably had a major run despite not being in the top ten of the promotion. And there's been very little elevation of talent in two years which suggests Maeda's just been doing the same thing over and over.</p><p> </p><p> Which then explains why Okamoto bails. I don't like it happening EVERY GAME (why not just make it part of the data then?) but if you look at it that way it makes some sense.</p><p> </p><p> I write down all my results and some thoughts just in case I ever decide to turn this into diary.</p><p> </p><p> I'm up to April and the Maeda GP but just when it seemed I had things going well I got raided by BHOWTG. I lost Satomura, Okimasa & Findlay to them which hurts considering Findlay & Smith won my tag GP (Not TagMania cause that name sucks) and Findlay was the Challengers champion.</p><p> </p><p> I took March off to overhaul the roster. Naozane Goto thought the GP final in Feb was a <em>great</em> time to start a fist fight with the injured Hirotsugu Sato. Ozawa had kept complaining about losing, Murkami plain sucks, as does Yorii Ippitsusai. My announcer quit after having had a backstage incident, fired the default color commentator (My User is a Color guy). Lost Animal Harker & Giant Brody due to not renewing their tour deals.</p><p> </p><p> Brought in Morimasa Kato (game said to hire him for some reason), Haranobu Kobayashi, Chess Maniac, Marv Statler, Dean Waldorf, Aztec Prince & Roderick Remus, and a new announcer.</p><p> </p><p> So it's pretty much a reboot of sorts. Tag GP has no winners (since Findlay left), Challengers title is retired, and a fourth of my roster has been replaced.</p>
  21. Well, to me, I'd rather run less shows with everyone on the roster then do extreme cuts and run shows with only four matches on them. That's personal preference though.
  22. Three shows total. I guess you could run more, but that's generally not what you want to do with a lowish regional fed if you like money. I ran a three night "Series" called the BCG New Year Heritage Series over a weekend. Probably will run four or five in February for the GP.
  23. Are you all having problems keeping BCG alive? You start with a million. I ran three shows in January and only lost 10,000 which is pretty cheap in the long run. That's without cutting dead weight like Kazu Yoshizawa, Murkami, Ozawa, etc, etc.
  24. I played a ton of BCG in 2013 so I'm not very happy with BCG in 2016 and its development. Losing Okamoto & Tanyu doesn't make much sense to me in canon but I can forgive it. Leads to an "exodus" which is interesting. I knew it was coming this game so I pre-emptively hired Hitomaro Suzuki, Omezo Shikitei, Outlaw Wes Revell and others to fill the void. What I can't forgive is Blast Ikoma being a former world champion having had a reign equal to Funakoshi. That one really, really bugs me. In every game I've played, including this one, Ikoma is a solid hand but not world champion or main eventer level. Even in 2016 where you'd think he'd have gotten a stat boost he's still worse then Funakoshi, Torii, Okamoto, Tanyu, Y. Taku, etc, etc. The other thing that bugs me is the game won't accept Funakoshi as figurehead. I guess you can do it anyway and hope the penalties aren't that bad, but Funakoshi IS BCG. He's the best guy, he defines the style, he's the top guy of that generation, and he'll often carry the company on his back. Okamoto & Torii are close but neither are on Funakoshi's level at game start. Also absolutely hate the name "TagMania". I don't know who came up with that but they should feel bad. I advocate renaming it to the Kazu Yoshizawa Honorary Tag Team Grand Prix since he formed BCG with Maeda. I also like throwing "Honorary" into the Maeda Grand Prix. Don't like the Challengers title name either (I know it existed in 2013). In my last 2013 game I created the Pacific Openweight Championship, so I'll probably do that again. So it kind of puts me in a weird position. BCG is by far my favorite promotion but I really dislike a lot of the things that happened in the jump and the roster itself hasn't developed or changed much.
  25. Does Wakizashi have a name in canon, or anything someone else has given him? He seems like a good prospect but that name doesn't really fit in with traditional Puro naming conventions.
