  1. I think it was likely a mistake, but I wouldn't be beyond shocked if it wasn't. Still doesn't change the fact that Harbaugh should have called a timeout to give Cundiff a chance to lineup. I told my GF as it was happening that the kicker was sprinting on to the field, that can't be good for him setting up for the kick.

    This.

The sideline is always pretty hectic, but if it was as frantic as Baltimore has been claiming it was, then they should have called timeout and regained their composure some.

Also, Cundiff needs to just own his screw up and stop blaming scoreboards. Take a note from the Niners Kyle Williams and make no excuses.

  2. Any instrumental hip hop fans in here? I really want to expand my instrumental hip hop collection (that is.. very small). Of course I know of the big names like DJ Shadow, J Dilla, Pete Rock and such, but if any of you have any other artists they would like to share that would be awesome.

If someone wants to explore the world of inshiphop then definitely check out Maw- (spreads his music free through the internet) and Bonobo as well as the previously mentioned artists of course.

Obviously Madlib, I can't imagine a fan of instrumental hip hop not knowing him but he wasn't listed so thought I'd mention him just in case.

Here are a few others I like, with my favorite album from them in parenthesis.

Blue Sky, Black Death (Late Night Cinema)

    RJD2 (Deadringer)

Oh No (Oh No vs Now Again)

    Blockhead (Music by Cavelight)

    Cradle (Attitude)

    Nujabes (Modal Soul)

Wax Tailor (Tales of the Forgotten Melodies)

    Joe Beats (Diverse Recourse)

    Fat Jon (Humanoid Erotica)

    Exile (Radio)

Prince Paul, Large Professor and RZA have instrumental albums out there that are great as well. And El-P does quite a bit; Little Johnny from the Hospitul and Cannibal Oxtrumentals are fantastic.

If you want to check out something different, look up El Michels Affair's Enter the 37th Chamber. A funk band covering some of the Wu's best tracks doesn't sound like it'd be too great but really it is incredible.

Anyway, that's just what I can think up as far as instrumentals go, if you wan to expand into turntabilists as well, then I have quite a few more recommendations.

  3. I think three seasons of elite production is a little early to call someone a hall of famer. He's also been clutch in the past, leading San Diego to comeback victories repeatedly in the season where they went 4-8 and still made the playoffs, and helped them come back in the 4th quarter against the Colts in the post-season.

That said, the Chargers aren't that great because the team's not that great. Rivers is struggling, but who are his receivers? I mean there's Antonio Gates, and then there's, uh... Vince Jackson? Their defense also lost some key guys like Antonio Cromartie, and Norv Torner is a better coordinator than he is a head coach. That said, people still pick the Chargers to win the division every year because up until this year, virtually every other team in the division was abysmal.

The bolded is their biggest problem imo. He's not a good head coach and was regarded as not a good head coach before the Chargers ever hired him. I share Rex's opinion, a good coach would have won a ring with that team already.

  4. Anyone have thoughts on Alex Smith?????

He sucks ass and has for quite some time now. No fans in the bay wanted him back, but with the lockout it seemed to be a marriage of convenience.

Hell Harbaugh doesn't trust him one bit and it showed last week. They got a 15 yard penalty on a FG kick early in the 4th that would have given them a first down at about the 25 yard line, but rather than put it in Smith's hands and see if they could get a TD, Harbaugh declined the penalty and just took the 3 points.

The rookie kicker missing a 20 yarder earlier probably contributed to Harbaughs mistrust but still it showed a complete lack of trust that the offense lead by Smith wouldn't turn the ball over. Pretty much shows what his peers think of him tbh.

  7. Until the holes Remi mentions are filled (oh, and we need help in the O-Line too), I'm not going to be jumping up and down.

The Vikings' team blog suggests that Michael Jenkins may have an inside track because of his prior relationship with Musgrave in Atlanta. I'm personally not convinced he's an equivalent talent to Rice. Personally, I'd like to see them go after James Jones, if only to piss off Aaron Rodgers.

Ryan Longwell re-signed, so kicker is not an issue.

I think we already have the answer for DE - Brian Robison should be able to step up into Edwards' slot if Edwards leaves. [EDIT: Edwards going to Atlanta, per Jay Glazer @Fox Sports]

The rest, we'll have to see how things shake out. Biggest priorities to me are the WR and DT situation (we released Jimmy Kennedy, so we almost have to go to the market to replace Pat Williams).

I know James, great guy. However, I worry about his abilities as a Number 1 or 2 receiver. The same problems he had in college are still there; he just seems to lose concentration at times and drops passes he needs to catch to be a number 1 or 2 guy.

It took him a long time to become that number 1 guy in college primarily because he just couldn't keep the ball off the ground (drops and fumbles) and he was prone to some mental errors (forgetting his routes) in practice. Don't get me wrong he always worked hard and has all the physical tools just seems to lose concentration now and then.

But still just a great guy and I'll always be pulling for him to work it out and become that great #1 receiver that he has the potential to be.

  8. Very true but at a certain point in sports people seem to earn the right to live off their past glories. Case in point, in 1973 Willie Mays made the NL All-Star team. This was not the Say Hey Kid who wowed the baseball world in the 1950 and 60's. It was a broken down old man (Well in real life 42 isn't old but in sports it is ancient.) who could bearly play the Outfield.

Sounds like a certain Yankee shortstop doesn't it :p

  9. I don't know why the Detroit Lions are getting such high draft grades. I liked the Fairley pick but after that I got a bit confused. WR? We drafted a WR in the 2nd round when we have Calvin Johnson, and Nate Burleson? We have no OLB's! Oh but we got one in the 5th round. 5th rounders rarely pan out. Grrrrrrrrrrr! So mad right now.

Completely understand why many Lions fans are feeling that way. But there is no doubt about the fact that we were in desperate need for a slot receiver. B Johnson just flat out sucks and D Williams just never panned out. It Titus can play as well as he did at Boise then it really opens up Calvin; as it was last season Calvin was constantly double teamed because nobody had to worry about B Johnson or whomever was thrown into the slot.

And yes, we need OLB and CB much more than we needed WR or RB however, once Bruce Carter, Ras-I Dowling, Aaron Williams, and Akeem Ayers were off the board, the OLB and CB prospects just weren't that impressive. the LB and CB class just wasn't very deep at all this year.

Personally, I was happy they didn't reach just to fill holes even if they didn't address their 2 biggest needs. Reaching to fill needs is what Millen did his entire time in Detroit and it didn't work out too well (although the fact he just sucked at evaluating prospects plays a big part of that too lol).

That's not to say I'm completely happy with the draft. Well I like the Fairly and Loushore picks, I was hoping for Rahim Moore or some o-line help (especially someone who could push Raiola out) at that point of the Titus pick in the draft. But they seem to be very high on Titus and he is a pretty explosive player so hopefully he works out.

Anyway, after 3 drafts it's quite apparent that Mayhew's strategy is to draft talented players regardless of team needs and to use free agency as a means to plug up any holes they don't think they can fill with the draft. I'm guessing Detroit will be pretty active in free agency trying to land some LB's and CB's and hopefully they'll look at our pretty nice looking DLine and see the value of playing behind them. Now if they don't address LB and CB during free agency, then I'll be as confused and mad as anyone else.

  10. There is no way they will take Bowers in the 2nd round. I wouldn't mind it though as I want a dominant D-Line. I also want a quality MLB but we have a more pressing need for outside linebackers. Julian Peterson is gone and Zach Follet messed his neck up last year and may never play football again.

Levy is fine in the Middle and they don't seem to have plans to move him to the outside at all. But you are right they don't have anyone to play outside right now with the Follet injury. Personally I like Bobby Carpenter but I'm not sure even I'm comfortable with them having to depend on him. They really wouldn't have the luxury of grabbing Bowers too (and with the way he slipped something must be really wrong).

  11. OH MY GOD, how scary are the Lions now? You put Fairley next to Suh with Vanden Bosch and the old man is going to be really happy. I'm hoping they continue bolstering their defense and pick up a QB in the later rounds. You need insurance for when the china doll goes down. Of course, bolstering the O-line might help but....NAHHHH! :p

Now, hopefully the Broncos trade down and pick up an extra 3rd (and 4th, if they're lucky) since we need so much defensively.

This is what I'm hoping for too now. Suh, Fairley, Correy Williams, and Sammie Lee Hill is a damn good group of DT's. I thought for sure they'd go CB or OT but hard to pass up a talent like Fairley (and since I bitched when they passed on Moss even though they didn't need a wr, time to shut up now lol).

So, I say screw it, pick up some linebackers (maybe Bruce Carter) with the rest of the draft and make the front seven so good that we can live with Chris Houston and Alphonso Smith on the corners.

  12. But was he trying to pick up positive yards because the O-Line broke down to quickly?

No, the first time he hurt his shoulder it was the result of scrambling around for 30 seconds at the end of the Browns game. He was buying time for his receivers to get open and it's just hard for any oline to keep it's blocks up that long. He threw the ball, but was left wide open and got hit hard after a long time scrambling with the football.

The second injury came because Peppers just straight up flew by the oline and whacked the hell out of him. Oline got beat, it was ugly. The fact he injured his shoulder again is not a good sign though.

And the third injury was because he flat out rushed his rehab and it was inevitable he was going to re-injure himself tbh. The hit on him was nothing really, he was just kind of tossed to the ground, but he had been wincing and grabbing his shoulder since he came back and it was only a matter of time.

It really was just 2 shoulder injuries, with a third stint on the dl because he rushed rehab. Still the injuries are anything but reissuring and us Lions fans are going to be stuck holding our breath every time he drops back until he completes a season. Sucks, I really like him, more than any other QB I've seen in Honolulu blue and silver (which honestly doesn't say much seeing as Bobby Layne is way way before my time) .

  13. So I know people have been going on about this for weeks, but I think the worse thing the Panthers could do in this years draft is draft Cam 1st Overall. I think if they were smart they would try to trade down and get someone else. This years QB class is amazing and you have a bunch of QB's that can truly start in the NFL. I don't know what to think of Cam he impresses me at times and then kills me at times. I still think he will be the next Reggie Bush (someone is going to come out and say they paid him and he knew it). Also Carolina has a great run game and are starting to rebuild their WR depth. I think Ryan Mallet could do really well there.

Also when did a college player not knowing about what the school and it's father were doing still not make him involved like the NCAA said Cam wasn't. Was it just because he was so popular?

I think the worry for Carolina is that they are going to look within their division and see Drew Brees, Matt Ryan, and Josh Freeman and feel pressured in getting that franchise QB to compete with these guys.

Unlike you I think this years QB class is pretty poor. I don't like Mallet at all, just don't think he makes good decisions with the football and I have no faith in Gabbert and like Cam even less. My favorite QB prospect is Colin Kaepernick actually, and If I were Carolina or Buffalo I'd wait until round 2 and hope that Kaepernick or Andrew Dalton fell to the 2nd round (Kaepernick is probably a given for round 2 but I've seen a bit of love for Dalton so who knows).

  14. [*]Captain America looks like it could finally give Marvel a run for their money since DC has been weak in the movie-making business compared to Marvel. (Besides Green Lantern of course) I love the Cap and think Chris Evans is good casting for him especially since I heard he really wanted the part.

Captain America does indeed look good, however, Cap. is a marvel property not DC. So if it does indeed turn out to be something worthwhile, DC will still be behind Marvel.

I think Thor looks like it could be pretty good as well, not so sure about Green Lantern though unfortunately.

  15. I just saw Scream 4, it was all right not on the level of the first one but right on par with the third one (which I thought was the worst of the originals). I pegged the killer pretty much from the start of the movie.

Speaking of Wes Craven movies, I always found it odd growing up that Nightmare on Elm Street, Nightmare on Elm Street III, and Wes Craven's New Nightmare were my three favorites out of that franchise. Well a couple of years ago I found out why because those were the only three in the franchise that were actually written by Wes Craven. The rest of the all kind of sucked. Well I did enjoy Freddy vs. Jason and the remake so I can't say they all scuked.

Dream Warriors was always my favorite of the Nightmare movies, even more than 1 (although that one rocked some socks of course).

  16.

He should be fined for doing crap like that. I hate it when people do over the top endzone celebrations. Nothing like showing the other team up.

Its fine. Cause he did it to the Cowboys.

Not actually, its fine cause they are grown men and paid professionals. Dont like it? Make a freakin tackle.

I thought it was great. Did he disrespect the Cowboys. Sure, but F it they are division rivals and are supposed to hate each other.

This morning the talking heads on the radio and tv have been unbearable whining about Jackson being over the top and disrespectful then going right into bitching about Tashard Choice asking for an autograph, complaining about it hurting competitiveness and longing for real rivalries.

Damn, be consistent, which one do you really want? Personally, give me some hatred in this supposed rivalries. I'm tired of it only mattering to the fans.
