  1. Man, screw ESPN UK.

Not only did I have to wait an hour and a half for them to actually show the event because they were showing French football, they then proceeded to cut the Brad Pickett fight (you know, the one that got FOTN) out of the broadcast, and then they ended the damn broadcast early.

Fingers crossed, Sky will do what I'm expecting them to do and pick the UFC deal up when their deal with ESPN UK expires in August, because I'm getting fed up with ESPN screwing it up - I missed the ending of the Iaquinta fight on TUF because they screwed up the timings and the recording cut off.

I heard about this, but if that was an issue couldn't people just watch it on UFC.tv? That's what I did, without even realising ESPN were showing this one. Agree that they need to get off the channel.

  2. Absolutely ridiculous for him to suggest an immediate rematch. BJ got one because he's BJ Penn and the first fight was much more disputable than this one. Maynard got one because it was a freakin draw. Edgar has gone down somewhat in my estimation with the aftermath of this fight.
  3. Couldn't agree more. The thing is though, is there a number one contender? Is Ellenberger the true number one contender while that Koz/Hendricks fight is out there?

Yes, because anything that involves Koscheck potentially fighting GSP again should be avoided for his safety and everyone else's sanity.

  4. Man Diego is a warrior. And Ellenberger looked awful in that final round, the way he went from a takedown to surrendering his back. Could see him KOing GSP but would more likely get outlasted, and I think the same would happen in a rematch with Condit. Nonetheless I see no reason why that fight shouldn't happen now.
  5. Seeing some calls for a rematch now due to GSP's return date and a lack of other options outside Ellenberger/Hendricks/Sanchez and when introducing someone else into the mix would confuse the situation further. Personally think it makes perfect sense, would be very intrigued by five more rounds of that fight.
  6. I think one mistake a lot of people make is not actually knowing the five criteria that judges score fights with.

    Effective striking

    Effective grappling

    Ring/Cage control

    Effective aggression

    Defence

A lot of people are saying that Diaz was the aggressor...but was his aggression effective? Yes he came forward, but he came forward and got hit. Condit was on the back foot, but he was doing to to make Diaz miss and draw him in. Same with his turning off the cage. That scores under defence, while Diaz isn't scoring for effective aggression.

Two judges giving four rounds to Condit was maybe a little unkind. I gave him 3, 4 and 5 (I think - I got caught in the snowstorm and had to do a 4 hour drive that should have taken 50 mins back from UCMMA last night, and was shattered by the time I got in), but I've seen people score each round to different fighters. It was that close.

I think the problem is from poor judging in the past people have kind of come to expect a certain thing.

But regardless of that I think Diaz landed the much more effective strikes in the first two at least, had the back in the fifth, so would have to give him all of those.

  7. I don't think it's just the humble image thing though. Some of the stuff he says, the sheer amount of self belief he has, like the whole signing his name as champ before it happened thing, is exactly what some people despise. Personally I love that kind of casual arrogance that both him and Rashad possess.
  8. My only worry is that he can't keep the pace for five rounds, and Davis is a much, much, much better wrestler than he is. Davis doesn't exactly have Nick Diaz-level cardio, but if this descends into a sloppy takedown-fest, I could see Mr Wonderful nicking three rounds.

Yeah fair point...Davis hasn't been KO'd before so don't know what it'll take to achieve that, but I see a lot of shots being stuffed and he could get deterred before Rashad is tired.

Didn't realise Oliveira was fighting, really hope he puts it together at FW as he showed some amazing skills in his first few UFC fights. Annoyingly I'm going out and probably going to get home like half way through the event, will probably have to save it for the morning to avoid accidentally spoiling Bisping/Sonnen xD

  9. Man, kind of wish I'd watched it live now, twice I skipped forward a minute or so only to be met with a spectacular KO by Aldo and Barboza xD

Johnson is a dick but those stand ups were absolutely ridiculous, really can't stand Belfort either.

But that Aldo KO was hilarious, one of my favourite moments in a while, absolute dismissal.

Am I crazy for thinking Palhares could be very dangerous even to Anderson? His last loss was a leglock after all...
