  1. Is Moore any good? I remember him vaguely from 3-Count, but not much else.
  2. Great TV bout. But Moore vs Williams at Destination X? Dunno about that.
  3. Nah, there must be an echo in here :-p Fixed, lol
  4. Randy would be 47 when this fight goes down, if it goes down. There's the 'out' for the UFC. His chin is gone, has been for years. Vera showed that he can be hurt badly by body shots. If Toney takes him out, he's taken out a broken down 47 year old, no big deal. Still, it's an insanely hard fight for Toney. On the flipside, if Toney loses, then he got taken down and pounded out/submitted by a UFC legend, multi-time champion, Hall of Famer, etc, in his first MMA bout. No shame in that. Stick him against Kimbo next time out and you have another huge TV main event or PPV card-filler. It's decent matchmaking and MMA purist that I am, I'm not ashamed to say I'd love to see it, just out of pure morbid curiosity of seeing a great wrestler vs a great boxer in 2010, 17 years after that stuff went out of style :-p Agreed on both counts. I think the VS show is two hours, so assuming all the fights don't go to a decision, we should see a couple of the undercard bouts. UFC 111 is a big deal over here as it's the first title shot for a UK fighter. It'll probably be bittersweet, but meh, I'll have my flag wrapped around me screaming like a nutter anyway :-p
  5. Kimbo vs Mitrione has just been confirmed for UFC 113. We had Randy Couture on our radio show recently and he said that although bout agreement havn't been issued and nothing is set in stone, both he and the UFC (White and Silva) are keen on making the fight happen in June/July. My opinion (if this fight does indeed go down instead of the Rich Franklin bout) is that it's more likely to take place in July. The June show in in Vancouver, and there is currently a bit of concern surrounding whether or not his event will actually happen due to the lack of regulations in British Columbia. While I'm sure that the UFC will have it sorted by then, asking them to sanction Couture vs Toney might be a bit of a stretch. Zuffa is firmly in bed with the Vegas commission and would likely have Toney/Couture green-lighted at the drop of a hat there.
  6. Not even slightly. If there is one thing that's guarenteed to pull an American bird, it's the good ol' English accent That's how we get your wimins
  7. Well it'd make no sense introducing him to all the additional viewers they are expecting to get when they don't know what the outcome of his trail will be. Is he facing prison, restrictions on travel etc that might prevent them from using him for a period of time? I supposed they could use him in the capacity of fighting RVD for a contract and losing. It's be a good way to get two 'names' into a one-off, high-profile bout, and would explain why Hardy doesn't show up next week if he isn't able to. If all goes well with the trail, Hardy gets a 'second chance' in a couple of weeks.
  8. Cool, thanks for clearing it up. I had *zero* idea of any history between VKM and Drew, so if there is something there, it makes...well, maybe not perfect sense, but it's not completely out of left field
  9. Not at all, thats not my issue. I like the 'wuss heel' thing. What I didn't understand was how a wrestler can all of a sudden get a loss wiped off his record. Can HBK do it if he loses at Mania? Can anyone do it for that matter? It's not a big deal, just a plot hole that stuck out. I only brought it up because I skipped through the show and thought I'd missed a skit explaining how or why a midcard wrestler can ask the chairman of the company to expunge losses from his record, no questions asked. How much effort would it have been to give a quick reason *why* he was able to get the loss wiped? Something pathetic, a technicality, whatever. Just *something*. Otherwise it's just insulting to the intelligence.
  10. I'm not really well up on the Smackdown storylines...is there some history with Drew and Vince then? By matter of factly, I ment that there was no reason given for *why* he was able to get it overturned. Was it a fast count? Did he get his shoulder up? Was Kane wearing non-regulation boots, thus making the bout invalid? Or can anyone just go to Vince and say: "Heeeeey, big guy...you're looking ruggedly handsome for a man of 64...did I ever tell you that you we're my favourite millionaire? And that 'Kiss My Ass Club' thing...genious. Erm, anyway...about my match last week...any chance of getting the loss wiped off my record? Oh, no reason, I just don't like losing. Yes? Brilliant. See you Thursday then Toodles." If I'm missing something and he's Vince's long lost nephew, then fair play...but at least tell me how/why he can get a loss wiped.
  11. Finaly managed to see skim through Smackdown last night and one thing is realy confusing me. Drew Macintyre lost to Kane, only to have his loss expunged.... ...did I miss something? Was there a reason for VKM to wipe his loss from the record books? It was all treated very 'matter-of-factly', so I'm thinking that my skimming of Smackdown for the last two weeks has caused me to miss something. Either that, or this maked no sense whatsoever...
  12. Lets think... 1: Marvin Eastman vs Belfort http://thecagedoctors.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/eastman.jpg 2: Abe Wagnar vs John Madsen http://thecagedoctors.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/abe%20wagner%20gash.jpg 3: Cub Swanson vs Jose Aldo http://thecagedoctors.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/cub.jpg 4: Ross Pointon vs Zaromskis http://www.yardbarker.com/media/e/b/eb893c0ea7907618ccb316fd2e7aa6b10ff1ab6e/related/ross-pointon-cut.jpg 5: Fedor vs Nogueira http://thecagedoctors.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/fedor%20cut.jpg 6:Alex Reid vs Ninja Rua http://www.mmaplayground.com/forums/i/pi/181620_1.jpg 7:Kaleb Starnes vs Alan Belcher http://cdn0.sbnation.com/imported_assets/305973/kalibstarnes_cut.jpg 8:James Irvin vs Anderson Silva http://img77.imageshack.us/img77/5088/roflov0.jpg 9:Gary Goodridge http://www.mmaplayground.com/forums/i/pi/363891_1.jpg 10: Diaz vs Gomi http://www.mmaplayground.com/forums/i/pi/201424_1.jpg Lol, not really in any order...but yeah, I'd say the Torres one could slot in nicely near the top of that list
  13. WOW, check out the mess Benavidez left Torres' head in!!! WARNING: Not at all for the squeemish (you can see the skull). http://middleeasy.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1710:benavidez-leaves-a-friendly-reminder-on-miguel-torres-skull&catid=36:fighters#comments
  14. Shame about the ending of the main event. Was surprised to see Torres get mauled as well.
  15. The next logical question then would be: If he was actually capable of more, why was this ability never showcased? The streak was a great gimmick, but when it was over, why didn't we see anything new? NB: I realise that this isn't a perfect world and we don't always see guys given an oppertunity to showcase their full potential. That said, I do see Goldberd as having the kind of 'pull' to make it happen. Maybe he was happy being what he was?
  16. In fairness, he was always behind Carwin in the pecking order. The entire division has been on hold since Lesnar went out. Since then, the understanding has always been that the Carwin/Mir winner would fight Lesnar first...Cain knew he was behind them in the queue. Look at it this way, he's still young in MMA terms. He'll likely get one more fight before fighting for the title...it's just more good experience. If he can't beat JDS, he doesn't deserve to fight for the belt. If he can, then he will.
  17. It's all gravy. I just watched the final PPV of the Invasion last night for the first time (Survivor Series 2001?) and yeah...not great :-p
  18. Could he have been booked as anything else though? I guess we'll never know. To me, someone like say, Flair, is great because they *can* be booked in a variety of ways. He could make almost anyone look good, can work with big guys, small guys, have technical masterclasses or wild brawls. It's a case of what came first, the chicken or the egg? Was Goldberg one-dimentional because he was booked a certain way, or was he booked a certain way because he was one-dimentional?
  19. Yes....which was my point. He said that they gave Goldberg a push in WWE to show that they (WWE) didn't have bad blood with WCW. My point: Why would the WWE care if anyone thought they had bad blood with WCW? They'd bought, burried and killed the company by the time they'd brought Goldberg in. So why would they push Goldberg to prove that there was no bad blood? That was my point.
  20. Why would they care? They'd bought WCW by that point right, so why would it matter if they had bad blood with WCW? Admittedly, I didn't see a whole lot of Goldberg post-streak. As far as I'm aware though, he was a bit of a one-trick poney. As far as him going to TNA, I can't see the benefit. Having him go on a 'streak' in TNA is just rehashing another decade-old angle. I can't think what WCW fans he'd bring to TNA that Hogan, Nash, JJ, Flair and Sting haven't already.
  21. Agreed. I remember reading that Hogan owed him dates from the Australia tour...knowing that he was only there for a set number of dates, it seems weird that he gets to pin JJ then leave. Surely they could have just got someone like Rhyno, Wolf...or even three or four midcarders to jump JJ and achieve the same effect?
  22. ...and this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWnWFY-7gS8 ...shame it was illigal and he got DQ'd, but day-um! Doesn't surprise me at all. Racism is still very prevelent in Japan, especially when it comes to Koreans.
  23. Lol, you knows it Hopefully there will be a few minutes of spirited swinging followed by a dirty great big KO. I doubt anyone, Joe Silva and Dana White included, is expecting any more than that. As Chris said, there's always the chance we get to see another 'Kimbo-plex' and Slice grinds this one out on the mat.
  24. INSANE RUMOR OF THE DAY: Kimbo vs James Toney will take place on the April 17th UFC card, to counter Strikeforce. From Kevin Iole, who is *very* well connected to Dana White. Wow, didn't see that one comming! Has to be said though, considering the source, there's a *VERY* good chance that this was a deliberate leak on Dana White's part to force Scott Coker's hand.
