That and IMO, it's just more fun to have one active, evolving universe than two separate universe. Of course, this is up for discussion.

Here's what on my mind so far(which is not finalized), feel free to give me feedback:

- The new game will have two "modes": Without much idea for name for now, let's call it "lite" and "full". Lite is 25% idea and 75% luck while full is 50% idea and 50% luck. Basically, I will give a base score on your choice of cast, synopsis and stuff like that and then luck will determine the rest in the way of numbers. The total score cap is relative to the idea, this is to prevent absolutely horrible idea from hitting 5 stars. I mean...no one can really turn something like Piranha 3DD into a masterpiece. A standard idea will always have the chance to hit 5 stars and of course, great idea has better chance.

- Synopsis should not be too generic, it can be short but it must be able to tell the whole movie. Something like "two men take on the toughest murder case of their career" is so generic that there's millions of possibility on how it plays out, I would need more than that.

- Lite player should provide clear descriptions to their characters through description. I am fine with zero description on the characters in MT1.0 mainly because I can know the characters through the story itself but when I am judging synopsis, I need to know the characters directly so I can throw them into the story and determine whether the casting choice is good or bad. It will also help my immersion when imagining and reviewing said movie.

- More events, more dynamic negotiations and more character relationship stuff. Just trying to make the universe sounds more organic and filled with characters.

- Out of curiosity, will sudden negative events be not fun for you all? Say you cast Vin Diesel as main lead of Fast 999: Ambulance Drift and he gets into an accident by the second day of filming, forcing you to re-cast someone else. Is this fun or bad??

- Everyone will start with more money so they have more freedom in casting and production level.

- I am thinking of changing some of the star's TS, I feel there's not enough mid-range, it's either top-end or low-end thanks to my inconsistent judging.

They are eligible to give feedback and suggestion on your casting choice of the Aquaman character.

They would prefer you to choose one of them and show them what you can do with them unless you plan to use both of them in the same movie, then they will be fine with you taking them both and they will offer you another deal with "Flash & Aquaman". So, do tell me if you want both of them in the same movie.

 6. Seems easier to just youtube Orton punt and watch them for 2 hours. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- @TheBooker You are in, welcome to the game. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- @Russelrules44 I will get you later. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- @EddiePnG Grant, Inc. sponsor the 5,554,500 out of the 10,554,500 budget of Chamber. The new budget of Grant, Inc is 13,768,622 And then I forgot the Peter Stomore's 2% profit deal for The Chase, I have since implemented it, it's 152,768 to Peter Stomore so your new budget is $13,615,854. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bonus Revamp I have revamped the studio bonus, some of it: Investor: They now gets bonus money per 5 films. It's just not worth it if what they get is an extra $2M when they start. Securing extra money every 5 films suits the name, "Investor". The bonus money gain will be reflected on their studio's money when they hit the 5 films mark. Initially, I am thinking a random range between 5% to 10% of the studio's budget at said time but it might change at times. The reason I use the studio's budget is to reflect the investment process, you need to have money to invest to earn more money and the more money you invested, the more you will gain back. Adaptor: A bonus on star rating is too strong so I have decided to just make them a bonus on the negotiation process on the source material(the one you want to adapt) and also slightly profit increase. It's kind of like goodwill, when your studio is known for adaptation, of course fans are going to watch them, because they are likely to be good. This change is to give adaptor more profit on adaptation without playing with the star rating. Current studios that would like to change to any of the two(Investor or Adaptor) can do so. It's optional, just a chance for you to change to them if you liked the changes(although I don't think there will be too many requests). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Trend Time to roll the dice again: - It's holiday season, so the hot genre is definitely drama and romance. - Thriller emerges out of nowhere, thanks to a few top selling books that of the same genre. - People are still seeking a good fantasy film. Maybe pair it up with the adventure genre as well, make sense to have a fantasy adventure film. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 7.

Chamber

Review by: Mr.G

Alright, this time we have Chamber, an attempt to survive the industry from RKO Productions. Let me just get this straight first, this movie has some legit moments but they are ruined by absurd, ridiculous and just flat out illogical scenes. Let's get through the movie together. The good news is we have good introduction this time for the character, it's actually impressive for once...until The Man wants to stab Rodger out of nowhere. Okay, maybe The Man's a psycho, whatever. The Man proceeds to kidnap some other characters, there's no clear reason why those character are chosen...they are just there to be the victim. At least give it some sense and purpose? Like Saw, when the victims are captured, you know why. They did something bad, so they are there to "play the game". I don't consider Saw good movie but it at least provide a reason.

However, this is my main complaint, hear me out. I think Jacob Jones, the owner of RKO Productions, might be a kidnapper in real life. I mean seriously, why is kidnapping a part of every film of RKO Productions, even when they make no sense like Isiah? It's repetitive and shallow. Come on, come out with some different idea, do some other crimes -- rape(without kidnapping first), robbery, murder(without kidnapping first), theft, arson, assault, fraud, vandalism. I really hope the production team can give the audience something new because this kidnapping thing is as stale as Superman Cena.

Well, at least this tme the kidnapping is put to good use as The Chamber is the key point of this film. However, that Chamber is filled with false advertising. Here's the summary of the movie:

"4 friends are trapped in a chamber for 1 week with no food, no water and no way out...or is there?"

Here's what happened in the film:

"4 strangers are trapped in a chamber for 1 week, attacked by wolf, feels the heat, hit by toxic and has no way out...or is there?"

No part in the film emphasizes on the survival at all, the no food and no water is NOT IN the film. The film doesn't focus on the survival of the 4 strangers at all, it's more on them getting hit by tons of tons of Man-made danger, which is fine on its own, but put THAT into the summary and NOT something that isn't there.

Now to go more detail into the dangers themselves. Wednesday the Wolf, sounds legit but he is killed by a gun. What the frak? Why in the world Rodger find a gun? They should have NOTHING when in the Chamber, no way The Man is giving them anything at all. lack of air conditioner, why are there air conditioner in the first place? It's the chamber, it should be hot from the beginning. Okay, maybe it's The Man's psycho idea to torture them with that but you need to set it up. I will use a wrestling example since it seems to be easier that way. Cena vs Orton, TLC match with title hanging up int he air. At 10 minutes, Cena open up a table on the outside and want to AA Orton from the ring to the table outside but Orton counters, the table is left there. At 25 minutes, Orton climb the ladder for the belt and Cena pushes the ladder, and Orton drops into the abandoned table outside. That's just like foreshadowing in a movie. You don't just throw ideas out in the middle of the film and run with them. It's unusual for a chamber to have air-con, so you need to tell the audience that the minute they get to the chamber, instantly. Maybe have one of the characters say, "at least it got air-con in here". Then, you smack the air-con down in the middle of the film. The toxic gas is strong though, I liked that but I am not sure why The Man don't use that instantly, might as well explain that.

Another problem is that RKO Productions love to put wrestling reference inappropriately. Yes, you like wrestling but don't shove it randomly into anything and everything. The Man handled the police team like a boss then get RKOed and then stunned there by that? Ridiculous. There's also a Sweet Chin Music by Michael Shawn, oh my god on that name. One suggestion, if you really like wrestling, do a wrestling movie. It can be a drama like The Wrestler or a comedy like Nacho Libre. You can do every wrestling stuff in those movie and I won't complaint as much because it's legit and appropriate in this movie.

Now, the final fight scene. That is one absurdly long fight scene, which I don't think is appropriate to a horror movie. Chimpanzombee, yes, the final fight is good on that one because it's an appropriate exchange of sword strikes. In this one, everyone turns into Terminator at the end with godlike endurance to play out one huge fight scenes that is just too long for its purpose. The final fight scene of a typical movie with a monster villain isn't going to be too long and usually involves a lucky strike of the hero to end it. Chamber is putting an action approach into a horror film, which is crazy because The Man is nearly indestructible, he can grow back arms and legs and is on full crazy mode in this one.

Then, we have the ending...is this just a dream? You know, for many of the movies out there, I might say this is one bulls*** of an ending because it gives nothing to the movie but for Chamber, I have to admit that it fits beautifully. A dream is an appropriate explanation to the entire Chamber event because of the ridiculousness of it. It's not a great ending per say, but it sums the movie up well so I have to give it that.

All in all, Chamber is yet another movie that is on the middle ground, it tries to be serious but then swings its way to the side road of ridiculousville. It's like a baby of Serendipity, Scary Movie and a typical kidnap-and-torture horror movie. This is more or less a 1.5 stars. It has potential to be more than that but the bad stuff just even it out.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Misc. Information

- Personally, I see this as more of a R-rated film, especially the final fight scene with the ridiculous body removal stuff. However, it still could work in PG-13, just less fit from my view. The whole movie is okay for PG-13 but the last part is just out of place from the previous tone.

- The marketing and so on is obviously grand for this movie. While the initial review isn't too well, the film has a certain B-horror movie vibe and that attracts a fair share of horror fans that will just watch anything, as long as it's horror. Also, it's Halloween season, watching horror is like a must-do so no matter the quality, there will be a fair share of crowd.

- You obviously don't like Serendipity, then don't do illogical thing like it. Cut out all the ridiculousness, you are getting nowhere with them.

- When I mean using your stunt team, I don't mean putting all of those action scenes in a horror movie. Use it on the RIGHT genre -- action, sci-fi, fantasy, crime, a genre that NEEDS action scenes. A kidnap-slasher horror isn't about the quality of action scenes, so even if you have stunt team, it will not increase the film by a lot because it's not what the audience choose to focus on. They want horror, creepy atmosphere and gore.

- I have suggested this in the review, perhaps you should play to your strength and do something you love...like wrestling movie? You can always try other films later on but now you need to survive and you need to earn profit, you should be doing something you know you CAN do and you LOVE to do.

- You need to answer my question about nudity next time. And there's no actual nudity in this film, if you want nudity make sure you show them.

- Lindsay Lohan's role is so little that she should be a support than a main character. She is getting paid though so she doesn't care.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Revenue: 12,927,100

Budget: 7,932,700

----------------------------

Gross Profit: 4,994,400

Post-release: 2,621,800

10% Bonus: 499,440

----------------------------

Net Profit: 1,873,160

RKO Productions' budget = $5,000,000 + $1,873,160 = $6,873,160

Countdown to debt recollection: 3 movies to go

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Impact

- Tim Burton is good in terms of the more "artsy" kind of horror and dark movie but a straightforward horror like Chamber isn't really one of his best. It's a fairly good try by him but it's still apparently not good enough for some fans. Tim Burton takes a small 0.05 SP hit. OOC: Try someone like John Carpenter, Wes Craven or Sam Raimi for this type of horror film, they are good at it.

- Most of the cast did okay. Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez doesn't seem to show their body in this one while some ads say they do. This sort of false advertising is unacceptable for the pervs out there and both of them take a 0.10 SP hit. Others are safe but they really need to prove themselves next time.

 8.

Because I'm generous (and quite possibly a fool, but it's only a game)

I will cover the rest of his production and marketing budget.

Just confirming, with nothing in return?

 9.
The Chamber

Lindsay Lohan

- 960,000. 13.
Here's a list of advice for you(with comparison of Tribal Survival vs Isiah):

1. Adding extra elements is fine but when you add too much, it's messy and confusing. To use a a wrestling metaphor, it became "overbooked", which really isn't a good thing. A good story doesn't necessarily need to have everything included but you need to presents the things you have well. Tribal Survival is simpler to me and the story is clearer and to-the-point. The constant real life wrestling reference also doesn't fit the world of Isiah at all and should be avoided. You don't see Dwayne Johnson goes "I will beat your jabroni ass" in Fast Five, or G.I. Joe. For one, he isn't The Rock in said films and two, it doesn't really fit.

2. Turn off your commentary. It's more of a personal opinion but when you occasionally talk about the movie like a director instead of describing the story, it phases me out of the story. Just show how the movie is progressing without comments.

3. Logical progression of a story and things need to make sense. Both are important to a story. Your movies are fine in a sense that they do have logical progression of story but there need to be more explanation. Like the Nathan's "face turn". It's a little out of nowhere and the reason is just...illogical. You also need to show how exactly Claw Hiller is defeated. Claw Hiller is ticked off and then he accidentally let Isiah go. How does that happen? I can't find one scenario in my mind to run that scene. It's much easier if you just say "Nathan holds Claw Hiller in place and allow Isiah to stab Claw Hiller right through the heart." or "Nathan raises his sword for the final blow on Isiah...but he turns and stabs Claw Hiller out of nowhere". In both cases you can see how Nathan's face turn change the event around.

4. Lesser cast isn't really a must. Dakydaky uses big stars and did well. The story is the key. However, one thing about lesser cast is that you will lose less money for a flop.

5. Use your specialty. You choose in-house stunt team, you need to take advantage of it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chamber

Per your previous agreement(Lindsay Lohan: Bigger role in 2nd movie[which is delayed because of John Travolta's cause]), you need to give Lindsay Lohan at least a secondary lead role in this one. Your workers suggest that you can put her as Cassandra or Julie.

Zac Efron(1.10 SP)

- He would like 990,000.

Miley Cyrus(1.20 SP)

- She would like 1,200,000.

- Need more detail on some nudity. 16. Isiah Review by: Mr.G Isiah is another attempt to captivate on the children market. A claymotion animated picture, it is like a tribute to old school animation out here this year with all sort of the more classic approaches. Well, how did Isiah fare? Let's start with an overview of Isiah. Isiah is basically the story of a demigod boy and his battle against the villain, Claw Hiller. It gets its core concept right, as it is all about how Isiah becoming a hero that ultimately saved his kingdom. You will get what you expect: growth of Isiah -> quest to gain power -> return to defeat the villain. However, it can be a mess at times and that's what I am going to break down next. For one, Isiah can be confusing because the studio seems to put too many things into it, which is not really helpful to a children film. You see, one of the major advantage in making a G-rated movie is that you don't need to worry about subtlety - in fact, too much subtlety and the children will not get it - so you can be as straightforward and as simple as you want with the story. Isiah though, has too many things happening at once, some can be very unrelated and makes this kind of like a spoof film more than an original creation. Some obvious example includes a cameo by The Rock and wrestling promo by Isiah against the villain...what? Yes, I read it right, wrestling promo. I honestly wonder if too many kids would get that or perhaps enjoy that. There's also a huge case of repetition in this one. The villain, Claw Hiller, only has like one plan -- kidnapping. It's his go-to move throughout the entire movie and trust me when I say that you can find more kidnapping in this film than crime films. I think there's like three to four kidnapping at the very least. Claw Hiller needs variety in his plan, no one is going to care about it if he just kidnap people again and again and again and yet failing many attempts of it. There are also cases of questionable plot holes, which I guess is less of a problem in children movie since they won't really question too much of the details but one at laest has to get the basic stuff right. One thing that will solve the problem is to provide more conclusive explanation. When Nathan(Claw Hiller's assistant) is told to kidnap the baby Isiah, baby Isiah fought back in a comedic way...and then the scene just ended there? Why? How? Why Nathan doesn't just insist and grab Isiah away? Maybe the guards arrive and scare Nathan away? The scene needs more conclusive ending. Another example is Isiah decided to go on a trip to improve himself and he has to say good bye to Samantha. It seems a bit forced as there's no clear reason why Samantha can't follow him. I guess the parent can always make up some reason if their children ask them but it's better if the movie just explain it on screen that perhaps Isiah doesn't want to put Samantha in danger and et cetera. I also don't get why he is living with Samantha instead of his family. They are not married either. Again, it doesn't deflect the story too much but it just baffles me on occassion. And then his conscience asked Isiah to marry Samantha before the big battle. Okay, seems plausible but...why? Why must he do that? Any specific reason? You see, the movie skips over a fair share of the explanation and it just feels like some sort of "feel in the blank" game where the audience has to explain to themselves over multiple things, which is not really a good sign of fine storytelling. The "false" final battle(because the real one happens later) is lacking in any form of excitement. So Claw Hiller just "accidentally" let Isiah go because his assistant flipped out? How does the work? The King and Queen suddenly appears and send Claw Hiller to Hell...how? The final part of the movie is definitely the most confusing part, the earlier part are at least explainable, the finale is just a mess. So, Claw Hiller returns for the "true" final battle and he kidnap(Yes, kidnap, again) his assistant, Isiah and Samantha and followed by a Queen reference, which I am pretty sure majority of the children won't get it. Okay, we are at the final fight. I have just one question: why is Nathan the main hero in the final fight? THIS IS SPARTA...opps, wrong one. THIS IS ISIAH, that's the name of the movie and the protagonist for the 90% of the film. Shouldn't he be the one that goes against Claw Hiller at the end? When we watch Batman, we expect him to do major things in the final fight, not his sidekick Robin. So, overall, the film actually does okay in the earlier portion, the middle part has too many stuffs blended in and the ending portion is guilty of bad design. One way to make this better is to just keep it simple. One, it's a fantasy world, so don't put real life stuff(like The Rock) into it. Two, don't just try to throw every idea into it, filter some that are not suitable out of the fray. Three, keep the fight straightforward. The children are unlikely to expect twist or multiple side conflicts. Just give them one good guy and one bad guy and have them clash with each other. Now, what about the production value and stuff? The animation quality is actually not too bad, it definitely isn't great looking due to the budget restraint but Tim Burton's knowledge on this subject really improves the overall quality of the animation. The actors are fine in their role. While no one stands out in the pack, they all did a decent job in their character. Of course, Sasha Grey isn't doing as good but her character is small enough that no one will really pick up on her performance. I wouldn't blame the actors for the overall performance of this film, they did their job. As I mentioned earlier, Isiah's core concept is actually suitable for a G-rated movie, it's just that the studio tries to do too much at once and the execution leave much to be desired.I would say this is sadly, an 1.25 star. I liked Tribal Survival more than this one and that's a 1.5 stars so I have to go lower than that. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Misc. Information - You can just form a fantasy world without any real life fact. It's easier that way and it's error-free for sure. There are some historical inaccuracy in this one but I am not going to pick about that in the actual review. The time frame between ancient Greece and Rome is later than 876 BC and Greek's currency unit is "Drachma" instead of "Dollar". I also don't see how you pay your conscious(it's imaginery) but that's another topic. - Actually, you are still overbudget after the help. Your movie budget when released is 6,062,000 while you only have 5,959,000. To compensate, I have reduced your budget to fit in: your adjusted production value is 1,472,750 and your new marketing value is 174,250. - This film suffers from a rather mild marketing campaign. As the family market are covered by other earlier films, the families are not as eager to watch Isiah so the box office performance is merely average. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Revenue: 8,431,120 Budget: 5,959,000 ---------------------------- Gross Profit: 2,472,120 Post-release: 6,960,000 13% Bonus: 321,376 10% Co-Studio: 247,212 ---------------------------- Net Loss: 5,056,468 RKO Productions' budget = $2,459,000 - $5,056,468 = -$2,597,468 MPAA is giving you a chance to redempt yourself. They see that you are more used to larger budget so they decided to lend your $5M. You will be needed to pay back the same amount plus the $2,597,468(so a total of $7,597,468) you owed by your next 4 films. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Impact - Dev Patel's SP isn't affected as no one expects him to be on every great film out there but his momentum takes a slight hit from this one. - The less significant talents like Nathan Jones, Sasha Grey and Selena Gomez are spared. - John Travolta, while did a decent job this time, takes a 0.20 SP hit for continuing his slump. Eddie Murphy and Russell Crowe takes a 0.10 SP hit because their characters are less significant. - Tim Burton's SP takes no hit as some appreciates his overall effort in this one but he doesn't look good coming out of this one and he will definitely need a big project next. He decided that he would go cheaper if his next film is one he can do well - a film with dark theme or/and dark element.
 17. Isiah You are actually overbudget, you only have 4,959,000(2,500,000 from government already included) to work with and your talent alone costs you 4,312,000. You only have 647,000 for the production and marketing. I will post the review after you edit that one. OR, you can borrow some money from other players, if you want to and it's recommended to do so because you definitely need money on production. And oh, if you don't mind, it's easier to read if you can turn your plot into multiple paragraphs. Just put some spaces to break the texts up. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My Dance With Laurie I forgot the total: Pre-release: 4,175,000 Post-release: 10% ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Heist Malcolm D. Lee(1.05 SP) - He's just glad to have a job, so he would go with 1,050,000 + 9%. Christoph Sanders(0.80 SP) - He would like 760,000. Alphonso McAuley(0.85 SP) - He would take 637,500. Jacqueline MacInnes Wood(0.90 SP) - She would like 450,000 as she is confident she can do well in the singing part. - She can lower it to 280,000 if you can give her (at least) a second lead role in your next 6 ovies. Katt Williams(0.75 SP) - He would be fine with 450,000. - He would request that his part is shot in a short period of time since he's on tour and might not be available everyday. Chris D'Elia(0.85 SP) - He's fine with 340,000 as he thinks he might get some idea/inspiration for himself through the film. Dan O'Brien(0.35 SP) - 140,000, no question asked. Dave Franco(0.60 SP) - He will go for 360,000. - If you can provide him with future role(at least 1 supporting) in your next 5 films, he could go as low as 220,000. Bob Saget(0.90 SP) - He would take 500,000. Thomas Lennon(1.25 SP) - Heck yeah on this request, he would be fine with 9,000. Mike Tyson(N/A SP) - How about 25,000? Randy Couture(0.60 SP) - He's fine with 5,000. Tito Ortiz(0.40 SP) - Cool with 5,000 as well. Quinton Jackson(0.90 SP) - He wants 7,500. Pre-release: 4,429,000 Post-release: 10% ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- @EddieFnG 1. Ah I see, I actually thought it's a race at the desert and Jake wins as he is definitely ahead at the gas station. 3. My bad, always forgot to change it.(I have a copy of the review format in notepad and I just re-write them for every review) 4. Any movie and any type of situation is fine. It can be about the life of workers that work in a Ford car dealer, a family that just like Ford car and drive it, action scenes inside Ford company that happened for whatever reason and so on. The standard product placement approach is also fine(the intentionally cut that shows a Ford vehicle parking on-screen) ------- Previous Qs: 1. Since you only pay for the franchise when you actually use it, which is actually a slight mistake but I decided to just let it run this way, so I would say no to NPCs as you didn't pay anything yet until you actually make the movie. However, I would be fine with selling to PCs. 2. Easy Money - Donald Goddard would be fine with 20% of the film's profit. He isn't sure about the actual potential value of the book so he would just bank in for the profit share. 3. And yes on the direct pre-production, it speeds things up. General Update I am actually not sick but I have some personal issues to settle on the previous week. I will kick off some general update tomorrow.
 18.

The Chase

Review by: Mr.G

The success of the latest Fast & Furious franchise seems to garner more inspiration and attempts on the whole racing genre. Some might wonder if there ever will be a good movie with strict street racing and not just criminals-with-car. Well, we have to wait in future for that as The Chase is an action film with racing element so it is definitely criminals-with-car.

Let's start with the flaws, for a movie that is named The Chase, I personally expect a lot of chasing scenes as Hollywood sure as hell know how to create insane chasing scenes...yet there's a lacking of them in this one. There's one scene in the early middle part of the movie where the protagonists, Scott(Jai Courtney) and Jake(Luke Pegler), bet their money on a race...and then it's quick cut to a gas station. Where's the actual race? A drag race in the desert does sound good, to showcase their driving skill and to provide more car action substance to the movie. I hope they actually have the scene, so they can put it into the extended cut DVD/Blu-ray.

This movie spends too much time showcasing the planning of the FBI and the kingpin, Carlos Malcado(Tony Alcantar) - they are both antagonists and they want Scott and Jake for different reasons - and so did the two brothers. They are constantly looking for ways to bypass the blockage. These many scenes turn the movie from an action film into a mind game, like chess, you go here, so I go there and this is bad for an action film. Action film should always be about the action and the planning should be there to give more actions rather than taking them away. Also, the brothers have like two complete scenes of them planning their moves, which seems kind of repeated to me. In my opinion, it's better for them to plan inside their car, maybe while getting chased by their opponents.

The many planning scenes also lead to another flaw in this film, which is the tension. The planning scenes kind of break the tension away. Planning while on the run has a lot of upside. First, if they are planning inside their cars, a good opportunity to showcase some GPS or hi-tech car equipment. Second, they are planning and running at the same time so basically the tension continues to rise as they are getting constantly pressured by the police or the kingpin(but mostly the police). Now that's much more tensions compared to eating hamburgers and mapping their route on the side of the road. It also give an illusion of the police being strong opposition as they are really messing with the protagonists and their intended routes. The two brothers have to adapt, change route on the fly and maybe have some high level stunt(have cars flying over bridges or just anywhere the production team can imagined).

The opposition isn't too strong in the movie. While the police are well-prepared, they don't seem to have any answer to Scott and Jake. There should be more barricades for the protagonists to cross, maybe have helicopters on their tail or something but it's alright, the police at least participate well in the chase. The kingpin though, is a weak villain. I would have expected much more from a successful kingpin. For one, if you are a kingpin, you really don't have to follow your lackeys, you have them drag your opposition to you, not you to them. Two, he's easily defeated at the end. Three, he probably don't have to show up until the brothers know who framed them, only by that time he should be worried. It's a fundamental flaw in my opinion. He can just chill until they dug out the information that he's the culprit and even by then, he still have a lot of manpower to block the two brothers from coming to him. A more convincing plot would be that the two brothers stole something of him or they are doing a job for him and then they betrayed him and ran away with the money.

The ending, while having a twist(which I predicted correctly), is not a good one, especially since the good guys have their win fairly easily. I would prefer if the kingpin assign his "general" to accompany the lackeys in their trip to settle the score while keeping himself safe for a possible sequel(again, drag your opposition to you, not you to them). I also don't get how a normal apartment is safe from polices(that are definitely scanning the area) for multiple minutes around that place. Some high-tech garage that can hide cars like in the earlier Fast & Furious would be more convincing to me.

What about characters? Carlos Malcado is actually a very memorable character, not really for his menace or ruthlessness but his earlier scenes are so angry that I actually relate him to The Hulk. However, his lack of criminal intelligence lower the quality of his character to me. The two brothers, could use some more detail actually, perhaps some backgrounds. Of course, it's an action film so I am not going to put a focus on the characters but nonetheless, it's always good to have solid characters.

Well, what about the goods then? For one, the entire movie has a cohesive plot, one that is complete and one that is not a mess. You see, some action blockbusters can't even get this basic thing right, the whole movie is so messy that you don't even know what in the flying world are you watching...aside from effects and actions. Not here as The Chase gives you a reasonably complete story in 102 minutes. It doesn't try hard to include every bases like the background or flashbacks but it gives enough of the present that you will be okay with the whole film as a whole and you won't need to ask too much of why and how.

The car chases only start from the middle part and while they are not many long scenes except maybe the final chase scene, they are well designed by Louis Leterrier so the quality is there. It's more of a honest presentation though, as in it do all of what you expect of a car chase scene but doesn't provide you with too much creativity. It's still good for what it is.

The film has some good details and techniques, like showing the Hollywood sign to indicate their location instead of exposition through dialogue, Carlos "Hulk" Malcado's sadistic destruction of his mobile phone, Vegas Casino scene. It's actually decent on those fronts but it somehow lacks the tension and excitement of a truly great action flick.

So, what's my rating? I would say this is 2.75 stars as it has some goods and some bads but some fundamental flaws prevent it from having a higher score.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Misc. Information

- It's actually real close to 2.5 but the production value and good directing pull it up. However, I think you could write larger chasing scenes with lots of car and stuff, you have the production for that.

- Perhaps you should consider giving more details to the action scenes and in this case, the car chase scenes. It's easier for me to rate an action film when there's more descriptions of the action scenes. Not every detail is needed but some HOLY S*** moment like car flying over a police barricade while taking gun fire on all sides is worth the description.

- Did I miss the cameo?

- As usual, your marketing team did some good job for this one albeit it doesn't seem to garner as many audience as expected.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Revenue: 19,831,900

Budget: 12,192,000

----------------------------

Gross Profit: 7,639,900

10% bonus: 763,990

2% Deal: 152,768

----------------------------

Net Profit: 6,723,112

Grant, Inc.' budget = $13,200,000 + $6,723,112 = $19,923,112

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Impact

- Jai Courtney and Luke Pegler gets some recognition out of this one albeit just a generic peformance, both of them takes a 0.10 SP gain.

- Tony Alcantar is the most notable supporting cast of this film and he takes a 0.10 SP gain and that puts him on 1.10 SP.

- Louis Leterrier did some good work with the film, gaining a 0.20 SP gain and his new SP is 1.90.

- BONUS: Go Further with Ford - Ford is willing to sponsor your future movie as long as you include two scenes of any of these: Ford car in action(preferably with logo shown), character's dialogue with positive comment on the Ford automobile brand, stuff happening in Ford company building or Ford car dealer. Fulfilling these requirement and Ford will sponsor 25% of the film's production.

 24. Yup, use the spreadsheet link in the first page -> Studio Deals. EddieFnG is right, it has no impact. At most you are just negotiating with another company...which is pretty much the same as the original owner anyway.
 25. Welcome back. And, you don't have to restart, your studio is still there with its $13,200,000 capital and the franchise right of Battle Royale. Fixed, and I will reply you on the casting soon, got something going on today so I am just doing some quick replying for now. Actually, Nathan Jones can be on both movies(I haven't edit it yet but I am using the 3 movies per week per talent rules now) if you still want him. However, do note that you are doing an animation and you are taking his voicework, his gigantic build(which I assume is his main value) really isn't much help here.
