  1. <p>My wife saw my spreadsheet of storyline plans 3 months in advance, with my entire roster, heel/face divide and title holders. One night she typed into it saying something along the lines of 'I wish you put this much time and planning into your family life....'</p><p> </p><p> Talk about low blows.</p>
  2. This is me as well. Ever since I found EWR. Rewriting wrestling to how it should have been or how I would have done it reduced the stress caused by the business. Its such a great escape to become immersed in a world you wish you had been in. Something that keeps you thinking about the angles/matches/storylines as you lay in bed falling asleep or at work doing something you absolutely hate. This same reason is why I'm frustrated. The changes that everyone loves i truly believe could have been coded within 2016. Unless the organization of the code wasn't that great... But nonetheless, I'm upset with change just for the sake of change. There are features that nobody asked for. Menus that nobody likes. Buttons and clicks that don't make sense. I just think how easy could it have been to improve the autobooker from 2016? Make the development territory playable? Improve the gimmick system. Be able to talk to workers. Everything that people seem to love... put it in 2016 and youd have the most mind blowing text sim wrestling game ever that was USER Friendly.
  3. This is just an observation, but I'd say about 95-98% of responses that are positive and how the person loves the game are from people that are "new members", which tells me this is probably their first TEW game (maybe 2nd). Most the people that are having negative reactions are "low minors" and up, which tells me they've probably been around TEW/EWR a lot longer. This makes me wonder if us "vets" aren't giving the game enough of a chance or that the "rookies" don't understand the issues we are talking about. (The truth is probably somewhere in between.) Just an interesting observation I've made through the past 50 pages or so of text.
  4. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="jgriff3029" data-cite="jgriff3029" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="47578" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Good evening, <p> </p><p> I just wanted to give my reaction to the Beta Release. I have purchased every TEW except 2004 as I had just found EWR at that point. There are several things I like about 2020 and several things that I am indifferent about and several things that I don't care for. I really enjoy the talk to worker feature and the stable feature. There has been discussion about the UI but I really am indifferent about it, especially after downloading Kam's skins. </p><p> </p><p> My major complaints are things that have been taken out of the game. Now let me say that I have no problem with things like pushes being taken out because the new perception system has replaced it so it feels like it as evolved rather than been taken out. I also want to be clear that I have no problem with features being removed that no longer work with the game coding, like the ability to scroll with the new lists. I understand and appreciate the option of reverting to the old style.</p><p> </p><p> The things that I don't understand being taken out are things like the customized products, time decline list, and the ability to edit contract lengths for workers who don't work for you in the in game editor. The thing is when I play TEW, for me it is about fantasy booking (I usually play historical mods). I don't want to do a lot of thinking about certain things. I don;t want to have to dive in deep to figure out how far someone is into time decline. I also like to play historical mods and have an idea or situation come up where a certain worker would fit into what I want to do, so I edit there contract to make them available. I have seen it described as lazy booking or cheating. But that is exactly what I want when I play. Something I can lazily play or mold to my enjoyment. I completely understand that that is not what everyone wants. </p><p> </p><p> The question is why can't we have the best of both worlds? People that want to simulate the business in a more realistic way can and people who want to just play lazily or in a more fantasy style play that way. Again, I understand when things go away because they no longer work with the game mechanics or have evolved, but why remove things that don't fit these descriptions.</p><p> </p><p> I guess what I am trying to say is, I have enjoyed playing the TEW series because it allowed me to for the most part play the game the way I want to play it. I am on the fence about 2020 and will see what updates are made. The bottom line is that the more people that can play the game the way it suits them, the more copies of the game will be sold. The more copies sold, most likely increases the chances of future additions.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Brilliant post. 10/10. You put into words how i feel much better than I have been able to do.</p>
  5. But it's preset and I can't fine tune it? In an alternate universe, minor things would be changed. For example, in early 90s mods, I lower the WWF comedy from medium to low. Can I do that now?
  6. My apologies, Historian. I had the thread loaded an hour before and was reading through the last page before your post was made. You won't hear another mention of it from me.
  7. It's absolutely insane that one cannot edit the product of their wrestling company. WWF/E has changed their product so much since 1984, it would be impossible to start from then and have a realistic simulation/mod game. How could this not be included?
  8. Madden EA developers have been shipping out terrible game after terrible game for 12 years now. Instead of owning up to what they have done, they always claim they've fixed their problems and ship out a new game the next year. Guess what happened? Madden sales have steadily been on the decline and nobody trusts anything that EA Development team says anymore. This is why I respect you so much, Genadi. Thank you for saying (in a polite way, I may add), what a lot of us are thinking.
  9. One storyline nobody has mentioned that I do fairly often is injury angles. A wrestler will kayfabe injure another for 2 or 3 months, usually to help get the injurer over and give the other who I don't have a story for a break. Then when he returns, you have a hot feud for a few months.
  10. <p>I played the crap out of EWR. To this day I wish I knew how to take that code and improve on it. Maybe a more nostalgic reason more than any.</p><p> </p><p> I played the TEW 05 and 08 demos but never bought them. The fun of EWR wasn't there for me. Finally I bought TEW 10 when it came out and have bought each new game within a week of release. </p><p> </p><p> TEW 20 has me hyped more than any other release.</p>
  11. Release Costs Release costs have been rejigged. Firing someone who is under a written contract with monthly pay still involves paying them compensation of what they're owed, but it is now capped at six months' worth of wages at the maximum. People under a written deal who are paid per appearance are now compensated on their downside agreement and are again capped to a maximum of six months' pay. This change has been made to make firings / "spring cleanings" more viable as you're actually saving money in the long run rather than just saving yourself from bonus payments as you would in 2016. Really excited about this. It caused me to hang on to so many worthless talent in '16 because there was no benefit to firing them. I can actually have a reasonable roster size now!
  12. Ugh... Can I pick a time? Punk's leadup to MITB vs Cena. The last really cool thing WWE did. The pipe bomb promo, throwing Triple H under the bus, breaking the 4th wall and having his mic cut off legite had everyone wondering what was real and what was kayfabe at the time. Then he goes into MITB in his home town of Chicago where Cena gets booed and Punk gets cheered (entrance gives me goosebumps). Punk wins. McMahon and Laurantis yell for Del Rio who tries to cash in but is unsuccessful. Punk grabs the title and blows Vince a kiss goodbye. In between we had negotiations with Vince where Punk said things like I want my ice cream bars back! I just wish they would have kept Punk off tv for longer. They brought him back too early. The build to that moment couldn't have been done more perfect.
  13. I loved my WWF 1987 game. Dropped Hogan as the face of the company and pushed Savage into that role. Gave Andre a run with the strap. Had Dusty as my main heel with a cowboy gimmick (think mainstream Stan Hansen gimmick). Hogan ended up getting fired and Dibiase is becoming a major star
  14. EWR introduced me to Bryan Danielson, Samoa Joe and Nigel Mcguiness. I'd always end up signing the 3 and Danielson and Mcguiness would put on 5 star matches.
  15. That's a hilarious storyline!! Michael Cole being the only one who cared is great!! LMAO!!!
  16. If you blacklist hidden gems will the game put different hidden gems in?
  17. I was wondering why all my 2/3 falls ended with someone winning 2-1
  18. I'd mercilessly bury him so hard. Just ask Paul Orndorff in my 1985 WWF game <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
  19. Is there an authority figure like Vince McMahon only more of a comedy authority with slightly better technical skills? That'd be me. (I'd say a lot less money but that would eliminate everyone <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> )
  20. I'm getting really antsy to play and I've never done a RTG game (or even know really how it works other than starting at the lowest possible size). How long does it on "average" take a RTG game to hit cult or national? I'm thinking a 1983/1985 real world game would be a lot of fun if I could hit cult sometime in early 2000s just to see how a game world plays out and be a legit 3rd/4th option to WWE/WCW/ECW. I'd also like to book from 83 on as WWF however I feel instead of following what happened in the real world. Also taking a shot at the Cornellverse sounds fun for the first time in ever, although I'd probably just start with the top company and sign whoever I wanted.
  21. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="retrogamerpa" data-cite="retrogamerpa" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41174" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I really thought things were going to start turning around. WCW fell to National level, leaving me the only International company. At the same time The Giant's contract with WCW came up. After a long bidding process I won out and he will be starting for me on July 1st. About a week, maybe two after that, however, WCW bounced back to International and signed away the British Bulldog, who I had plans for. I have 17 days left to use Bulldog to put over guys like Edge, Brian Pillman and Psycho Sid. On the bright side, the plan is to make Owen Hart, now free from his main event tag team with Bulldog, the next contender for the WWF Championship currently held by Brian Pillman.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Sounds like a fun save and agree with Zero on your plans with The Giant. </p><p> </p><p> I want to know who you had win king of the ring out of those up and comers!</p>
  22. <p>Book your angles a minimum of 6 minutes and choose the option that will get them the best grade.</p><p> </p><p> For example, if a wrestler has A menace and C charisma, a menace option will be much better than an entertainment choice. </p><p> </p><p> Likewise if you have a female with D charisma but A sex appeal, put her in sex appeal angles. </p><p> </p><p> This will get your workers over and make your angle grades the best possible.</p>
  23. Ah, okay. That makes more sense than how I originally interpreted it. It sounds like Daniel Bryan's "yes movement" rise to popularity will be much more easily replicated with the new system, which has me excited for it! Thanks for your response, Adam.
