This one had the crowd cooking, with Billy Jack holding the crowd in the palm of his hands, and Jake, wishing to crush them in his. Hugging his briefcase obsessively, Jake is hesitant to put it down at the start of the match, with Billy Jack egging him on to get to things. Once in the ring, Jake is exceedingly hesitant once more, and barely allows Billy Jack to open up much offense. Before you know it, Savage has hit the ring and catches Billy Jack in the back with a spectator’s chair! Haynes is stung by the bite of the wood panels, collapsing to his knees. Jake has the referee distracted, and breaks away just in time to grab Haynes by the neck and crush him with his vicious DDT maneuver! Savage laughs his way back to the locker room while Billy Jack is in a bad way, and Jake immediately skates out with his coveted possession. Back from the commercial break, Bill Mercer interviews the Rock N' Roll Express, who express certainly their excitement for their tag team title match against the Midnight Express, but don't like how things went down. Ricky Morton brings up to Mercer how last week The Fantastics were cheated out of their chances thanks to the tag team champs… chances at perhaps taking another big shot at the tag team titles, but nevertheless, the Rock N’ Roll Express are gonna do what it takes to beat the champs We cut to another interview, this time Bill Mercer is joined by the one, the only, ”Manager of Champions” Gary Hart! Hart is looking better this time around, having lost the bandage and instead sporting a mean scar on the side of his forehead. Wearing his trademark sunglasses, Hart is all business, no games in this interview. He makes a serious threat to Jake Roberts, the man who attacked him weeks ago, and Chris Adams, the man who dumped him last week! Mercer says he’s sure had a tough go of things, and Hart gets upset, asking if Mercer thinks he’s a funny guy. Hart says there’s nothing funny about the future of Chris Adams and Jake Roberts, calling them dead men walking, patting the back of the big bruiser beside him, new client Hercules Hernandez! He says Chris Adams might know a thing or two in the ring because he taught him so, but with no manager in his corner moving forward, and that hunk of lard Gino Hernandez always chompin’ in his ear, Adams stands no chance against the might and foe of one Hercules Hernandez! He promises, the end is near for both men, and they won’t soon forget it! On to more important news, now Bill Mercer meets NWA Texas Heavyweight champ Gino Hernandez, and the man with the quarter-million dollar briefcase, Jake Roberts, outside of a Texas steakhouse. They appear to have just finished eating a fine meal, and Bill tracks them down outside of the restaurant. Gino is visibly displeased to see “journalist” Bill Mercer on the scene. He asks just what the heck Mercer wants, and Mercer says he wants a decision on the ultimatum offered by David and Kerry Von Erich... If the Von Erichs beat Gino and Jake this upcoming weekend at the March Star Wars event, David gets a Texas title shot and Kerry gets a match for the infamous briefcase! Mercer calls it no small feat to beat the team of David and Kerry, and asks if Gino and Jake think they have what it takes to take on two of Texas’ best. Jake cuts Bill off and tells him to hold his horses. ”The Von Erich ain’t nothin’ to worry about Bill.” He quickly belches, catching Mercer off guard. ”David Von Erich… Kerry Von Erich… Kevin Von Erich… Um… Mike Von Erich… I think it’s then Dopey Von Erich, Dumpy Von Erich, Sleepy Von Erich… yadayadayada, the list goes on Bill! You see, it doesn’t matter which of those Von Erich brothers you send out there, because each of ‘em got one price to pay. And that’s the price of what you have right here in this quarter-million dollar briefcase, you understand? Do you understand Bill? I don’t think you understand because here you are stopping us from-” Jake is getting real testy and Gino cuts him off with an arm over the chest! Mercer is backing up and Jake is caught off guard. Gino looks at him, nods, and Jake is visibly upset, turning away from the interview and walking in and out of the camera shot, displeased as ever. ”Jake, Jake, calm down brother. Calm down. There ain’t no point in gettin’ all worked up by a wanna-be journalist like Bill Mercer here coming up and trying to interrupt our good time for a “hot lead”... a “quick take”.... There’s no story here Mercer, move along…” Gino encourages Bill take steps out of the camera shot but Mercer is adamant, he wants an answer! ”You want an answer!? You need an answer Bill!? Fine! Well here’s your answer! You think we’re afraid of the Von Erichs? Like the Von Erichs might, haunt us in our dreams? Keep us awake at night? Think again, brother! We’re the creatures of the night standing right here, that’s right! Jake “The Snake” slithers... he crawls under your bed, and he makes sure you keep one eye open just so you watch your own demise! And Gino “The Handsome Halfbreed” is the prettiest beast of them all, and by now you ought to know no Von Erich can stand-up to the awesome talents of “Gorgeous” Gino Hernandez! There’s no problem saying YES to this ultimatum, because by the end of our match at Reunion Arena, the Von Erichs are going to be done and over with, you understand!? Done! I mean it! Finished! Vanquished! Nothing, no more, or ever, again!” Brian Adias versus Chris Adams In a good match which got the crowd hotter, Chris Adams defeated Brian Adias in 6:50 by pinfall with a Superkick after a distraction from Gino Hernandez. Adias and Adams went quick to working each other with a series of throws and holds, before Adams resorts to heel tactics to gain the upper hand, including two failed roll up attempts clenching the tights. All it took was a little help from a friend, when as the other half of the Dynamic Duo hit the ring and got into it with Adias. Brian was telling Gino to hit the locker room, giving Adams the perfect chance to catch Brian with a big Superkick! Following his win, Adias is driven back to his locker room, leaving Chris Adams and Gino Hernandez standing side by side together. They gave the Denton County faithful a piece of their mind, as “The Gentleman” took to the microphone. Adams was pissed off, and he let the crowd know it. He says Gary Hart is a bum of a manager, and Hercules Hernandez is a bum of an ape who stomps around the ring like it’s a zoo! Chris says he wants Hercules at the upcoming March Star Wars event, one-on-one, to put Gary Hart to an end! But unexpectedly, out comes Jerry Blackwell, who confronts Adams directly in the ring, bumping chests with both Adams and Gino! The crowd shows support for the big man, who has a microphone of his own and pokes his finger in the chest of Chris Adams! Blackwell says he came out to challenge Adams one-on-one too, since Adams thinks he’s such a big, tough guy! Adams is laughing off the situation, but Blackwell doesn’t find it funny. Chris looks at Jerry and tells him that, unfortunately, he can only take on one buffon at a time, and Jerry is going to have to wait his turn. Blackwell doesn’t want to wait for any time but now, and delivers a big right hand to Adams! Gino steps up… and wham! Another big right! Blackwell starts firing off rights to the Dynamic Duo as the fans erupt! He quickly focused solely on Adams, handing down quite a beating. Luckily for Chris, his tag team partner would recover enough to separate Blackwell from him and prevent further damage, allowing both men a chance to escape. Jerry is left in the ring challenging them for more, while Chris and Gino back up the aisle way, tending to their wounds. Kerry Von Erich and The Fantastics versus One Man Gang and The Midnight Express In a good match, Kerry Von Erich and The Fantastics defeated One Man Gang and The Midnight Express in 13:45 when Bobby Fulton pinned Dennis Condrey with a Flying Body Press. It was a battle for revenge for the babyfaces, who had the crowd in the palm of their hands. They were giving in early to the heels, who dominated the first portion of the match, but Tommy Rogers a hot rally to shift the momentum over to them. His hot tag to Kerry blew the lid off the crowd, as he rolled through his opponents with powerful left and rights. The Jim Cornette managed team tried to turn the tables when Cornett jumped on the apron to distract the referee, allowing the Midnights to gang up on Kerry, alongside OMG, and delivered a massive assisted powerbomb in the middle of the ring! Kerry withered in pain as the ref turned his attention back to the action and cleared out the ring. OMG went back to work on Kerry, who was desperately able to block one punch and return a discus punch of his own! This gave Bobby Fulton the opportunity to be the hero, igniting the crowd with some charismatic gestures as he battled off the mighty One Man Gang. Fulton looked really good fighting off his sizable foe, who was able to escape and tag in Dennis Condrey. While the tag team champ came in hot, it wasn’t enough to slow down Fulton, who hit another big series of moves before taking to the top rope. The other heels tried to run in and knock Fulton off the top rope, but his partners made the save and prevented disaster! Condrey then got to his feet and succumbed to a mighty flying crossbody for the one, two, three! The Dallas crowd popped again as Kerry and Tommy hit the ring to celebrate their win, while Jim Cornett cried and wailed on the outside! Sweet vengeance, indeed! 2. <blockquote style=”background-color:#FFFFFF;color:black;border-style:solid;border-width:4px;border-color:#000000;max-width:1000px;”> ”You know, I think Jim really sees something in me… I don’t know, it wouldn’t be doing my family right if I didn’t seriously consider this offer… I know it’s not what you want to hear, and I hear something with Randy popped up too, don’t know nothin’ ‘bout it but it may be in the same vain…” Tommy Rogers was on the other end of my phone call. I had woken up a few hours ago, sat and read the news, particularly my latest edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter which had just come in. But now I was dealing with something likely to make waves in the Observer… Tommy Rogers had been offered an exclusive deal with Jim Crocket as well. ”But Tommy, the people of Dallas love you. Fritz loves having you work for him, you know I love having you work for us. Can we sit down later tonight and talk more about this?” I asked. ”Sure, absolutely.” Tommy replied. He always seemed like a genuine guy, and I really do think he felt bad about the news he was breaking. But I just needed to have a chance with him… and a chance with Fritz. It was exactly what was I nervous about, more of our guys with incredible talent were prospects for Crockett and McMahon. Except this week, Atlanta was making moves. ”Thanks Tommy. I look forward to seeing you tonight.” I said, and ended things with a goodbye. After hanging up the phone, exhaled and zoned out. What was going on in Atlanta? How many more of our guys were getting offers? And what did Fritz have in mind when it came to this situation? I was nervous he hadn’t put much thought into it, but hoped my discourse with him a few days prior had prompted him to consider the question. Losing Tommy Rogers wouldn’t necessarily make or break the business, but I knew if five Tommy Rogers’ left, and maybe two or three of our Randy Savage’s would really, really hurt business. To a point I’m not sure it would be easy to attain back. An hour late, just when I thought it was over, one of my signings Rick Rude dialed me up. Again, an offer from Jim Crockett. I told him to talk to me tonight about things, and he was also willing to do that. I was appreciative and felt these guys really liked their stake in World Class, and wouldn’t really want to leave for any reason other than guaranteed money. One thing I knew I was going to be doing a lot of was making phone calls, and right now another had to be made to Fritz. I explained to him the two phone calls from Tommy and Rick I had received, and simply relayed the message to him. We didn’t focus on making any sort of decision, but agreed talking to him both up front tonight was the best course of action at this point. Once at the building, we waited for the talent to arrive, and Tommy was first. To his credit, Tommy went straight back to the old man’s office, and talked to him man-to-man. Tommy was a good worker, good looking guy too, the ladies really liked him. Backstage, total professional, and genuinely nice guy. Fritz and I spoke before, meeting with him, and decided to follow the same route as with Randy, matching Crocket’s offer on all levels except slightly higher monthly pay. Tommy was thrilled to hear, and I think a huge weight lifted on his shoulders… but for Fritz, I could tell there was a heavy burden growing. For him, it was clear once he gave a few guys guaranteed money, the rest would start bickering or looking elsewhere for it. We talked a bit more about what it would mean to take on more guaranteed contracts. Fritz sweated the money, and didn’t like paying guys a salary per month over just when they are booked. To him, that meant he had to book all those guys on his shows, or he’s still footing some bill, and that was leverage he didn’t need his talent having. For Fritz, this was a new way of thinking… a new philosophy in the business he was having a hard time adjusting to. But Fritz being open to new ideas was something I kept reminding him of, using modern wonders such as the television and airplanes as an example. ”Think of all of the great things which can come from continuing to evolve and adapt as a company.” I told him point blank, ”You will be able to look back on such a marvel, you wouldn’t believe it’s yours.” Cue the Disney soundtrack. I told him we need to be proactive, and not reactive. We agreed that once we started giving a few guys guaranteed money, many more, including those more deserving, will come knocking for theirs. Once the cat was out of the bag, well… Fritz was out something too. He told me he was working on something in the background, but wanted to focus with me that night on reviewing which guys were really worth the guaranteed money come time. He wanted to sign a “first phase” of guys, to send a message. He wasn’t going to let anyone walk up to his talent and make them an offer than think he can’t match or make better. But he wanted to be selective about who would be getting the contract, making it known there’s money to be had, but you have to earn it. ”Chris, Gino, Jake.” were the first words out of his mouth. ”And Randy.” I added. ”Fine, those four, they are all stars, and we need stars.” He responded. I agreed, and we sketched out contracts for all four men based around Randy’s offer. ”Jake and Chris… let’s offer them somewhere under eight.” Thousand, he was referencing, per month. This was still significantly higher than he was paying them per month on their current schedule. He laughed about how this meant we were going to need to run double-headers… no kidding. We agreed to 3-years, three-thousand dollar bonus, and twenty-percent on merch and event bonus. ”Gino…” he continued, ”Eight and two. Word will get around and he’ll feel special about it.” Fritz finished. I took down notes and agreed, mostly. I was worried about meeting Randy where his pricing was now at. Fritz agreed to offering sixteen a month, and came up with a form he was going to have Randy sign, saying he wasn’t allowed to talk about his income with his colleagues. I told Fritz that wasn’t necessarily legal, or morale, but Fritz told me he wasn’t going to sign the other half and therefore it never existed, and he hasn’t done anything illegal then. Questionable, I figured this was a great example of how Fritz was still a slick promoter at the end of the day. ”What about your boys?” I asked, hesitantly. He looked at me as he lowered his glasses, gestured the paper in his hand at me and said, ”Don’t you worry about my boys, now.” That’s all he needed to say for me to understand he was going to take care of things with them. I quickly moved on to some other names, and more who prompted this discussion came up. ”Tommy?” I asked. Fritz thought long about his name, and if he was worth the cash he was asking for monthly. ”Let me ask you something kid… What’s your philosophy on babyfaces and heels?” He asked. I wasn’t sure what he meant, and asked him to explain further. ”Well, you see, this territory was built on the shoulders of heroes… particularly me. And today it stands on the foundation of the family I have put in place, and how my boys are looked at as heroes by little boys and girls across Texas. That’s not some sort of happy accident, you see… good territories, good promotions, they need strong babyfaces to keep drawing, in my humble opinion.” ”I agree. Babyfaces draw the crowds, and heels give them what they came to see, which is someone getting their butt beat!” ”Something like that I suppose.” He took a sip of his tonic water. ”That’s why Rick’s out and Tommy’s in.” ”What do you mean Rick’s out?” I asked. ”Rick’s out, kid. He’s a heel for life, just look at the guy. He’s a Greek god with that physique, he’s got that Hollywood look about him, real arrogant demeanor. He’s a fine young man, and I think he has a bright future. But he ain’t gonna draw the house at the end of the day, he’s just gonna play the means to an end for our babyfaces. Guys like Rick, we have to let come and go perhaps. It’s the good guys we want to establish as our own. So let’s make sure we get Tommy and we make Jim pay more for the services of one Mr. Rude.” He gave a small smile, a first from Fritz. ”Fritz, what can I say, I never thought I would see you so happy to spend so much money!” His face turned sour for a second, and then he laughed wholeheartedly. It ended in a bellowing cough as he ashed his cigar and greeted Tommy at the door. He then asked me to grab Tommy’s partner, Bobby Fulton. It took me a bit by surprise, but I could tell what he was hinting at. He was ready to make Bobby an offer as well. I left expeditiously, knowing this was the start of something big… W4, Mar. 1985 Prediction Cards </blockquote>
  3. <blockquote style=”background-color:#FFFFFF;color:black;border-style:solid;border-width:4px;border-color:#000000;max-width:1000px;”> ”One hundred percent of the revenue.” Dale stated. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing… even though we were getting bumped a bit, our advertisement revenue was skyrocketing. The deal, in my view, didn’t make much sense to me… why would the syndication house give up so much of the ad revenue? Maybe they thought we would run ourselves out of the business… ”Twenty-two thousand and five-hundred per show.” Dale also said… ”That’s how much you’ll be paying us. Check needs to be delivered monthly for all four programs for the month, got that?” I could hear the resentment in his voice. He wasn’t happy our proposal went through. I, however, was ecstatic. Keeping World Class on the screens of viewers worldwide was going to be critical to our success long-term. It wasn’t the big cable television contract I thought might be plausible sometime in the future… but it was enough to keep things going. Fritz, on the other hand, was certainly displeased with the end result. He gave Herbie a few calls, but nothing would do. Apparently the weight he lifted with his management was declining, and Dale’s feedback and analysis was trumping Herbie’s usual sof tspot for Dallas-wrestling. Nevertheless, WCCW Championship Sports would now be broadcast at 6 PM local-time, and we weren’t going head-to-head with anyone. Head producer, and really a television broadcasting genius, Mickey Grant, was in the office when the phone call came. He was in agreement with me, things were OK right now, but competition was heating up and World Class needed to make a play. Word on the street was, Vince McMahon was hemorrhaging money leading up to a big event he was calling: WrestleMania. The build-up so far was quite spectacular, and even big-time celebrities like Mr. T and Cydni Lauper were getting involved. It was bringing considerable mainstream media to the World Wrestling Federation, which on one hand was good for the business as a whole, but on the other, was putting WWF on a pedestal none of us could compete with. The WWF was adding more and more production value to their presentation, trying to make everything and everyone feel bigger than life. I liked the approach, it made sense. It fed into what professional wrestling had always been about… families and friends attending their local events to witness incredible feats and dangerous action between men who usually appeared larger than life… guys who came into two infrequently and could draw a house because you had heard about their escapades elsewhere… or someone you knew had seen them the year before in their local town, and boy you couldn’t miss it. Now, Vince was taking his idea and molding it to fit the bright lights of Hollywood. His biggest star, Hulk Hogan, was becoming a household name across the country. Of course, Vince had the advantage of inherently working out of the New York media market… meanwhile we were competing for local ads in the Dallas Post. They were still running their weekly top of the line WWF Championship Wrestling syndicated-program, and also pumping out WWF All Star Wrestling on syndication as well. Perhaps still number two in size was the AWA, where young up-and-comer Curt Hennig was now the company’s World champion, beating Rick Martel back in January before Martel jumped ship to the WWF. However, the AWA was extremely top-heavy with talent, and it wasn’t young talent either. Sgt. Slaughter was still a huge star, Nick Bockwinkel and Larry Zbyszko were still top of the class workers, but beyond that, relying on names guys like The Crusher and Baron Von Raschke to consistently draw wasn’t going to last much longer with heroes like the World Wrestling Federation stars on television. And the WWF was still running shows in the Minnesota-region, drawing larger houses than Verne Gagne’s seemingly timeless promotion. Not surprisingly, I found recent AWA tapes to be quiet boring in entertainment. The storylines were lackluster, and the wrestling was sub-par. Not to mention… AWA didn’t have any syndicated television, and if Verne couldn’t get a deal soon, I’m not sure how he is going to keep up with the rest of us. Jim Crocket Promotions, however, I had much more respect for. They were still rolling strong with Ric Flair, the NWA World Heavyweight champion, at the helm. Recent television tapes of theirs were excellent, and I wanted to draw some bit of inspiration from them. I loved their updates in their television studio, leading to excellent talking segments between star performers, however, I wasn’t too sure if it was a good fit for the Dallas viewership. Nonetheless, having charismatic and entertaining workers like Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Magnum T.A., and many others was one of my biggest goals. If we could have naturally entertaining personnel on all fronts, in every minute of every hour, it could be enough to carry us further… the real challenge would be getting Fritz to cough of the money to pay and keep growing stars in a competition industry. Interestingly, just last week Fritz told me there was a huge blowout between Crockett and Bob Giegel, head of the Kansas City office… generally an extremely well-respected leader in the industry, but recently was coming into meetings hot-headed and ready to erupt. That was a part of a dispute between he and Fritz a couple months ago, and now Bob had announced he wasn’t planning on sharing any of his talent with JCP anytime soon, which meant guys like Harley Race and Buddy Roberts might not see the Atlantic this summer… JCP’s World Championship Wrestling program was doing extremely well on TBS, in fact last week’s program featured an unbelievable main event for the World title in which Ric Flair retained against Sgt. Slaughter. It was the best televised match I had seen this year so far, and their TV numbers were rightfully rising on the shoulders of their headliner, Ric Flair. And then there was Mid-South… things were tense, to say the least, between Bill Watts and Fritz. Business was still really good for Watts, and their product, I had to admit, was really good. Gary Hart was an excellent booker… for however long he was in the seat. I got word Hart was kicked out of the booker’s chair just a month into the gig, apparently butting heads with Watts very early on. Clearly, Watts regretted the decision, and put his onus back into the hands of the trusted vet, Ernie Ladd. They were still featuring a lot of the top World Class talent, and that still was rubbing Fritz the wrong way, but it was how the NWA, for the most part, worked, and we had some of the best guys that worked in the southern states regularly, including the Von Erich boys.. Power Pro Wrestling, their syndicated-programming, was still doing well in the ratings, and it was safe to say the Mid-South territory was hot, mainly on the heels of Dory Funk Jr., Kamala, Ted DiBiase, Butch Reed… and our top guys. However, the television ratings were a bit lackluster, mainly because they were moved to being broadcast so late in the day, in my opinion… Another downgrade to the status of “southern wrasslin”, perhaps in the eyes of television executives. Despite feelings of avoiding a disaster in the office, and a sigh of relief from most of us, another phone call an hour later sent us all into another tizzy, particularly myself. ”Uh huh.” Fritz said on the phone… he was doing a lot of listening… ”Uh huh.” He said again… he usually did most of the talking… ”Uhhh huhhh.” he bellowed, I had a bad feeling… ”I understand. Okay, thanks Randy. Yep, uh huh. No… Yep, I know, I know. Right, great. Okay, let’s talk soon. Thanks, buh bye.” He hung up the phone and turned around, looking straight at me. ”Randy may have just gave his notice.” ”What!? Are you kidding me? What do you mean, what did he say?” I was taken aback. Last time I spoke with Randy, he seemed incredibly happy with how things were going a few months into his stint with us. ”He says he got an offer.” Fritz said coldly. ”God damn, Vince!” I said. Fritz stink eye’d me, realizing now he hates when people use the lord’s name in vain, especially in front of him. ”Eh hem… sorry Jack.” What he said next, I don’t think either of us were expecting... ”It wasn’t Vince. It was Jim. Crockett. He’s offered him an exclusive deal for almost thirteen-thousand a month.” Fritz said. I couldn’t believe it. Crockett was trying to take some of our hottest young talent from right under us, and making sure he held on to him all his own. I thought the NWA was more honorable than that, but I soon learned many of Jim’s guys were exclusive, and it was a move he had been relying on more and more to keep his business not only afloat, but growing… I was naive enough to think Vince was the only one doing this… but to me, this felt like a slow coup within the broader Alliance. And I couldn’t believe Fritz was letting it stand. ”We gotta do something about this!” I said in haste. ”We can’t let Randy go, he’s too good. He’s too valuable. He’s gonna be huge, Fritz, trust me! You don’t find guys like him every day, or every year, even.” ”What do you want me to do about it, kid? You think I got the money to cough up and pay Randy like that? And you expect me to put food on all my other kid’s tables? Uh uh, not gonna happen pal.” ”What, just like that?” ”Just like what? Just like I know what I want to pay my talent, and I know I can’t pay Randy what Jim wants to pay him? You think I want to break my bank for a shot on our midcard? Not gonna happen.” Quickly, I was feeling very defeated. I was worried this may be how things might go with a lot of our talent, and it was a thought that had always been in the back of my mind. Just that, I couldn't believe it was coming from Atlanta and not New York. I had to change Fritz’ mind… I couldn’t let him give up that easy. ”Fritz… this goes back to what I was saying a couple month ago. We can’t let this go, you HAVE to do something or this whole thing is going to fall apart.” ”What do you mean?” He asked. ”Remember talking about Gino? And how he’s gonna need more money? All these guys want more money, at the end of the day. And they are probably going to be able to find it… But that money, Fritz, it HAS to come from you. Or we won’t survive into the next decade, I guarantee it.” ”You don’t know what you’re talkin’ about kid, you ain’t been in the business long enough to think you know how things shake out between us promoters, ya hear? I ain’t goin’ no where, I been doin’ business here in Dallas for the past thirty years, just what in the hell you think gonna stop me from promotin’ till the day I die? ”Because the guys you need to keep your show going aren’t gonna interest anyone, because everyone that was interesting took more money elsewhere, and you’re stuck with the runt of the litter.” ”Ha! Interest? You think all that matters is what’s interesting about the boys? And nothin’ else?” He replied. ”Well, it may not necessarily be everything… but it’s extremely important and should be our number one goal: put interesting people in interesting stories and keep the fans coming back and tuning in. You’ve seen Randy in the ring, you’ve seen him on the microphone… guy is incredible. You can’t deny that Fritz.” He was listening… ”And, Fritz, who do you think can fill his shoes. Obviously any one of your boys, but outside of that, who truly matches up to perhaps the potential of Randy? And not only that, but you’ve heard what guys say about him. He’s incredible between the ropes. He’s an encyclopedia on wrestling, Fritz. He can make you a lot of money in the future, but only if you want to invest in him the way Crockett is willing to. Because if you’re not, your other investments today may be worthless tomorrow…” There was dead air. Listen Fritz, I know it’s not an easy choice. It’s your business, not mine. But in my opinion, you either going to have to start pouring money into guys like this, with guaranteed, exclusive contracts… or you are going to lose all the guys you ever had. I know it’s not going to be cheap. It’s not going to be easy. But, I think it’s a decision you are going to have to make.” I was done with one of my long pleads to Fritz to change his ways. I knew he had the money, I had seen the books… numbers he probably didn’t want me seeing. But Fritz was very wealthy, and he had incredible connections in the state of Texas and surrounding regions. If he was going to give up on guys like Randy, he was going to give up on himself and his business and I had to convince him this was the truth, because to me… it was. ”Let me call you later after I think about it. We’ll come up with what to say to Randy.” He said, now looking out his office window. He never looked back as I began packing my things up and I left Mickey in the room with him. I looked at Mickey, and nodded, with an understanding that Mickey would do what he could to convince Fritz to look bigger and possibly make a play for Randy long-term. I was hopeful, but not naive… only time would tell... </blockquote>

At 450 lbs., Jerry’s dropkicks are always impressive, and leave a special sort of impact when delivered. Blackwell’s size and athleticism continues to impress… Meanwhile, Billy Jack and Randy Savage continue to bump heads, as lead broadcaster Bill Mercer announces the confirmed singles match coming up at the next Star Wars event between the two men. For this match, however, neither man came across as significantly ahead of one another. Their time will have to come in two weeks, apparently. After the match we get a rare live interview following the action, with the winners, Billy Jack Haynes and Jerry Blackwell. Bill Mercer quickly asks Billy Jack about his match coming up against Randy Savage, who responds by saying he plans to settle all disputes at the next Star Wars event with Savage. The real focus of the interview, however, is on Blackwell, who Mercer introduces to the audience as a 450 lbs. “game-changer”, questioning Blackwell if he fits the mold of a typical wrestler. Jerry chuckles, ”No, sir, I may not fit the bill of a typical wrestler, but sir what you might find from me is not only am I a man bigger than a bulldozer, but I’m also a man who typically takes offense when other men put their hands on me and think they can take to tellin’ Jerry Blackwell what to do! Now, Bill, I know you ain’t heard from me in awhile, but I got a bone to pick with Chris Adams, and there just ain’t no way around it. At last month’s Star Wars, Chris Adams, you put your hands on me like I was a little boy. Well I don’t know if you need your eyes fixed, boy, but I ain’t little. And in case you weren’t smart enough to get it the first time, I ain’t the kinda fella you put your hands on! So just like at Star Wars, I’m gonna shove you through the ropes everytime you stand in my way, and if you keep runnin’ back I’m gonna smash you so small you’d think I squashed a mesquituh, you understand what I’m sayin’?” Mercer takes the conversation over to Blackwell’s aspirations in World Class wrestling, to which Blackwell states he made a promise to himself to stand up for himself in every situation, no matter where the path takes him in World Class Championship Wrestling, and says his goal is always to aspire to the gold. Back from commercial break, we are joined once again by Bill Mercer, this time in a studio environment where he is joined by perhaps the two biggest stars in World Class today, brothers David Von Erich and Kerry Von Erich. After Mercer thanks both men for their time, David leads off by reciprocating Mercer’s allocation of television time to he and Kerry, and promises Bill they have very important news they need to share. Mercer says viewers in the Dallas-area must be glued to their TV’s after they hear a Von Erich brother mention big news, and recaps how a lot of big things have been happening in World Class as of late, including the attack on their older brother, Kevin Von Erich. He genuinely asks how Kevin’s recovery is going, and they both indicate all is well so far, with no return date confirmed as of yet. But more importantly today, David says, he and Kerry have come together after long days working and wrestling. And with recent events in mind, they have decided on an ultimatum. It’s an ultimatum for two of World Class wrestling’s most despicable actors: Jake Roberts and Gino Hernandez! David is adamant he was cheated out of winning the NWA Texas Heavyweight title last month, and says he can be beaten-n-cheated, bruised-n-used, on occasion, but he will never back down from his quest of becoming champion once again, and like a real man, always gets up when he is shoved down. That’s why he and Kerry want Gino and Jake in a tag team match, at the next Star Wars event! The stipulation? If David and Kerry win, David gets another shot at the Texas title, this time at the Parade of Champions! For Kerry? He earns a match against Jake Roberts for his coveted briefcase! Mercer is taken aback, ”Wow, what a proposal! But for men like Gino and Jake, what good would it serve them to choose this ultimatum?” Kerry says it’s simple, if David loses, he never challenges for the Texas title again… If Kerry loses, he will leave World Class wrestling, forever! Which puts Jake one momentous step closer to achieving his apparent goal, which is to rid the territory of the Von Erichs for good! Mercer tells Kerry he can’t be serious, but David reinforced that they are deadly serious and this was not a decision they made lightly, and mentions they will await Gino and Jake’s decision next week! Back to live action at the Dallas Sportatorium, Bill Mercer is now joined by The Fantastics, the former NWA American Tag Team champions, partners Bobby Fulton and Tommy Rogers. They appear to have just come out to the ring for some wrestling action, but have taken a pit stop over near Mercer’s announce table. They want a minute on the microphone, and their wish is granted by Mercer. Fulton looks at Mercer, and then back at the camera as he declares their title belts were stolen from them at the last Star Wars event thanks to the likes of One Man Gang, Jim Cornette, and The Midnight Express. Fulton promises the belts will soon be back in their hands, while Rogers chimes in at the end that it’s always a great day to be a Fantastic, and gets the crowd in front of him going before they hit the ring for their match. Rock N’ Roll Express versus The Fantastics In a good storytelling match, the Rock N' Roll Express defeated The Fantastics in 9:05 when Ricky Morton pinned Tommy Rogers with a Missile Dropkick following interference from Dennis Condrey and Bobby Eaton! That’s right! There was no way this match was going long before The Midnight Express made an appearance! Their mission? Prevent the Fantastics from achieving another title rematch. In effect, they would be putting the Rock N’ Roll Express over at the same time, who in their own right were coming across as the next tag team title challengers. No matter the result, the local Dallas crowd was certainly displeased to find the tag champs interjecting themselves in this one, as it was clear both babyface teams were putting on a great wrestling display. On paper, the Rock N’ Roll Express picked up another big one, once again adding to their resume in World Class, while the Fantastics found themselves at the mercy of nemesis Jim Cornette, who joined his tag team after the bell in the heel aisleway to laugh collectively and enjoy their efforts to completely discredit the Fantastics! Fulton and Rogers shouted pleasantries to the tag champs at the end as the show cuts to another break. David and Kerry Von Erich versus Chris Adams and Hercules Hernandez In a wild brawl that had superb wrestling and great heat, David and Kerry Von Erich defeated Chris Adams and Hercules Hernandez in 12:42 when Kerry Von Erich pinned Chris Adams to win the match! The night’s main event was hot out the gate, when Gary Hart first brought his new big man, and effectively, his new enforcer, Hercules Hernandez to the ring. He received no love from the Dallas-crowd, while his manager reciprocated no love for his partner for the night, Chris Adams. As Adams hit the ring, he and Gary Hart failed to acknowledge one another, which lead announcer Bill Mercer was quick to point out. In fact, both sides almost got into it with one another, but soon had their attention turned to the arrival of the babyfaces, who received a big reaction from their fans. Once all in the ring, Marc Lowrence handled the ring introductions, and we came to Kerry Von Erich kicking this off with Chris Adams. Both men knew each other very well, and showed it, neither really gaining much advantage as they both effectively countered and distanced themselves from any potential offense from the other side. This led to a showdown between David and Hercules, the first of its kind, and David tried to match up in height to Hercules, but the physique of Hernandez proved too much for the "Yellow Rose of Texas". David sold well for Hercules, allowing his power to protect his noticeable lack of technical skills he's yet to possess. This had Kerry clamouring for a hot tag, while David was slowly broken down and eventually worked over in the heel corner. The situation in said corner, however, was slowly breaking down, as frustration between Chris Adams and Hercules Hernandez was slowly building. At one point, Hercules refused to tag in Chris, who tagged himself in spitefully, only for Hercules to reverse the decision quickly with a tag of his own. They went through this exercise once more, before Gary Hart shared words with Chris Adams and the two bickered while David attempted to rally back. Once he had the hot tag, Kerry ignited the Dallas Sportatorium and rolled tide, showing off his power and might against both Hart’s men. As the action came to a conclusion, Chris Adams had the opportunity to stamp out the rally for good, but wouldn’t have a chance when Gary Hart jumped on the apron and began engaging with the referee. This gave Kerry his opportunity! A quick roll-up for the one, two, … three! Fans jumped for joy as Kerry rolled back to his corner and his brother David stood beside him, winners in tonight’s big match. Adams was furious, and took his frustrations back to the outside... The camera cuts to a shot outside, where Chris Adams is berating his manager, Gary Hart! The fans’ attention quickly shifts to the confrontation, as Adams gets right in Gary’s face, but is soon met with the presence of the larger Hercules Hernandez. The newer client stands up for his new manager, while Adams won’t back-down! He pushes his chest right up to Hercules and shouts in his face too! Hart’s mouth keeps running as well, warning Chris not to step any closer! Adams can’t take it anymore and finds himself a microphone on the outside. He takes it, rolls in the ring, and stands up to proclaim, ”Gary Hart! I’m dumping you! I’m dumping you as my manager and that big buffone of yours better stay out of here, as well, because I’m done with the both of you!” In classic heel fashion, Gary Hart switches from an extremely defensive position, to one of remorse. He gets on the apron, putting his hands out to Chris, asking him to calm down and rethink what he is doing! Chris stands there, looking to the fans, who have quickly shifted in support of the British superstar. After a moment or two of internal debate, Adams makes his decision when he turns around and superkicks Gary Hart right under the chin! Hart bumps to the apron, and then the floor, as the fans cheer loudly! Hercules, however, comes to his manager’s defense, and hits the ring to attack Adams! Chris tries to put up a fight, but Hercules is too overwhelming for him! But here comes Gino Hernandez! The other half of the Dynamic Duo hits the ring to a big applause and brings the heat to Hercules! He nails him from behind and stomps him out of the ring, giving himself and his tag partner, and best friend, a chance to take the tall ground and welcome Hercules back-in for a two-on-one exchange. Adams is shouting at Hercules, while Gary Hart is helped to be back by his new big man. The Dynamic Duo close out the show in rare form, with the Dallas faithful standing behind their decision to dump the supposed “Manager of Champions”! Bill Mercer asks those watching from home, what’s next for the Dynamic Duo and Gary Hart? And will we soon see a confrontation between Adams and Hercules once more? The Dallas Sportatorium faithful watched on as Kerry was quickly overwhelmed by vicious plans at the hand of manager Jim Cornette to repeatedly have him attacked while personally distracting referee David Manning. Fans were quickly fed up when Dennis Condrey hit Kerry Von Erich for the fourth-time, collectively, since he and his Midnight Express tag partner hit the ring to help their manager’s wicked plans for his new client, One Man Gang, to win the WCCW Television title. In the end, Cornette’s plans worked, and Kerry failed to kick out of a 747 Splash before suffering further punishment from his gang of thieves! Continued bell ringing and yelling from the local crowd was the scene when the former NWA American Tag Team champions, The Fantastics, hit the scene to save the current NWA American Heavyweight champion, but now former WCCW Television champion, Kerry Von Erich from further assault! Jim Cornette waved his men on and encouraged them to stomp and tear away at Kerry Von Erich… that was, before the crowd erupted at the sight of The Fantastics! Cornette’s eyes bulged out of his head as the Fantastics slid in the ring and made impact with One Man Gang with a double dropkick! This left the Fantastics in fisticuffs with their tag enemies, all four men brawling around the ring. Kerry was soon to come to, taking his efforts over to One Man Gang, who was also now attempting to get back involved. The powerful forces of our babyfaces prevented any comeback by the heels, sending Cornette and his men stammering back to the locker room, having been routed this time, yet another gold belt in their possession. Cutting scenes to more of a studio environment, we find lead broadcaster Bill Mercer standing alongside another wicked manager in World Class: Gary Hart. The quote, unquote “Manager of Champions” has a large bandage wrapped around the top of his head, and leads his statement with an update on his condition. Apparently, his wounds suffered at the hands of Jake “The Snake” Roberts at the February Star Wars event are still healing, but what may never heal for Gary Hart is how he felt watching his client, Chris Adams, turn his back on Gary and allowed him to be ruthlessly attacked by Jake Roberts! While Gary seeks to share his feelings, Mercer flips the switch and starts grilling Gary over the supposed briefcase he placed for Jake Roberts to find… Mercer reminds the audience that Jake Roberts took a key from Gary Hart’s possession, assuming it was meant for the briefcase, but the key did not work! At this point, Jake considers Gary to be a liar, and that Gary Hart was never the man behind the briefcase! Hart retorts by claiming there are millions of keys in the world and asks how a man like himself can be immediately discredited because a maniac like Jake Roberts got into a frenzy and sought to validate his beliefs in a brutal, terroristic way! At this point, Gary says his lawyers have advised him not to address the briefcase further, and instead directs his final comments back to Chris Adams… ”Adams! You better choose, boy! You need to make the final choice in this predicament, brother! You either stand with me, or you stand with Gino Hernandez, and that dirty snake Jake Roberts! You let me know what it’s gonna be!” Back from commercial break we find Bill Mercer joined this time by rising talent Billy Jack Haynes. They are quick to the point, Haynes feels he got cheated at the February Star Wars event, and is adamant he never used the chains against Randy Savage while applying his patented Full Nelson Lock hold to win the match rightfully in the eyes of the fans. He says he’s ashamed of the officiating, but most importantly he’s incredibly irritated by the reaction of Randy Savage, who helped facilitate the lie that Billy Jack would stoop to the level of using foriegn objects in a legitimate wrestling contest. That’s why he wants to prove to his fans, whom he thanks for supporting him throughout his tenure so far in World Class, and to the great people of the state of Texas that he is the better wrestling, and he is the better man! ”Randy Savage! I want you, one-on-one, mano-y-mano, at the next Star Wars event! That is, if you’re aren’t chicken enough to run away! The choice is yours Savage!” Billy Jack Haynes and Brian Adias versus Hercules Hernandez and Randy Savage In a decent match which got the crowd hotter, Hercules Hernandez and Randy Savage defeated Billy Jack Haynes and Brian Adias in 9:42 when Hercules Hernandez pinned Brian Adias with a newly debuted move, the Argentine Backbreaker, a proud piece of work thanks to the efforts of new manager, Gary Hart. That’s certainly not to give the new move from Hernandez all the credit, as if you were to ask Hart what happened in this one, he’d probably fail to mention the interference he caused to distract Brian Adias, allowing him to end up in the situation in the first place. Meanwhile, Billy Jack and Randy Savage came face-to-face once again, this time Savage played to Billy Jack’s anger, attempting to toy with him throughout the match, and finding mild success in doing so. Either way, Hercules walks out of his one looking big again, and Gary Hart appears pleased with the result. Back to in front of a World Class Championship Wrestling banned, we find The Dynamic Duo standing, albeit apprehensively, with Bill Mercer, microphone and all. Mercer again brings up recent events at the last Star Wars event, and Gino Hernandez quickly takes over the interview by stating it very clearly. He beat David Von Erich fair-and-square to retain his NWA Texas Heavyweight title, and viciously tells David to go back where he came from (Japan)! Gino says World Class, and professional wrestling as a whole, was better off with David away in a far away land, and promises to run off David once again! Mercer, however, is mainly interested in the on-going currents in the life and times of ”Gentleman” Chris Adams. Adams is very quiet as Gino goes on a rant, and appears very conflicted once the spotlight is on him. Mercer tries to ask why he didn’t save Gary Hart when Jake Roberts attacked, but Adams continually chooses to repeat the statement: ”No comment, Bill.” Mercer further tries to grill Adams for some sort of information, but Gino gets between the both of them and says they’re fed up with Mercer and how World Class is handling this interview, and quickly gets Adams to walk out of the interview with him! David Von Erich versus Jake Roberts In a storytelling bout that had fantastic heat and great wrestling, David Von Erich drew with Jake Roberts in 9:38 when the match descended into chaos after Chris Adams and Gino Hernandez became involved! The fans at the Sportatorium were extra excited or this one, featuring perhaps the two hottest characters in all of World Class. Since acquiring his briefcase, Jake Roberts has become as ruthless as ever in his pursuit of glory. David Von Erich, since his return to his father’s promotion, has looked nothing short of phenomenal. But for Jake, this was an extra special chance to fulfill what he believes is his destiny: destroying the Von Erich brothers! Roberts made it his mission tonight to inflict as much punishment on David as possible, this time though, things weren’t jiving his way. Instead, David dominated most of the match, moving one, sometimes two-steps ahead of Jake. While Roberts tried to keep David in corners and even on the outside some, his relentless pursuit on one way about things was likely his downfall, although he wouldn’t fall all the way before he was saved by the bell thanks to interference from his cohort, Chris Adams and Gino Hernandez. No surprise, the Dynamic Duo got involved in things, and quickly the referee lost control. As The Dynamic Duo, perhaps in a premeditated attack in cahoots with their colleague, Jake Roberts, hit the ring, David Von Erich saw it coming, and immediately took on the coming threat. Adams hit the ring, knocking the referee out blind, and cold. Gino flanked behind and the two charged David at once but ran right into a big double clothesline! David called for them up, as they one-by-one walked into a big boot and another spinning lariat! David’s real fighting spirit shined through as the fans cheered on his effort in this potential three-on-one situation. But he was quickly outnumbered when he was nailed in the side of the head with Jake’s briefcase! Roberts had ran out during the ruckus and retrieved his coveted briefcase, using it as a weapon against our hero from Denton County. This gave the whole gang a chance to pile on, stomping away at David, but it wasn’t long before… Kerry, Mike Von Erich, and Brian Adias hit the ring! They chased off the heels who ran out as soon as he felt the back-up coming, Gino and Chris shouting real pleasantries to the way of the Von Erichs. Unfortunately for them, the Texas born-and-raised collective stood tall at the end of this one, as David egged on Gino for another match, which lead broadcaster Bill Mercer clued is likely to take place at the upcoming Star Wars event. Until then, the Von Erichs thrive another day in the face of immoral foes like the three top heels of World Class. But what was to come next? Was Chris Adams going to dump his manager? Or could he possibly coexist with Gary Hart’s new client, Hercules Hernandez? And how is Gary Hart going to handle his next encounter with the man who ran the supposed “key” down Hart’s forehead, Jake Roberts? Copyright 1985, Southwest Sports, Inc. </blockquote>

It was expecting to be sitting across from Herbie Meyer, field rep for other CBS-affiliates in 66 different markets, all across the nation. Championship Sports was already shown locally on Dallas’ own KTVT-, but Herbie represented the collective CBS stations interested in syndicated programming. The numbers were becoming clear, World Class was a leader in the television ratings in the Dallas area, and the ratings were doing well in other markets. Except this time, Herbie wasn’t coming to town. Unfortunately for Friz, old Herb had apparently learned of actual private tour guides that take in American tourists in Thailand, and Herbie was on a three-month excursion to southeast Asia. And I’m sure, sir, as you are aware, television is growing. In fact, it’s really booming. We’ve never seen growth like this before. Despite the clear evidence, the referee ignores Cornette’s broken racket when he begins celebrating after his new client secures the three count! Tough loss for the babyfaces in this one! Soon after the closing bell tolls for the opening match, Jim Cornette finds a microphone and takes to the PA system… ”Kerry Von Erich! You stupid goof, you’d never go toe-to-toe with the big man, One Man Gang! And now that he’s under my tutelage, he’s dead set on that WCCW Television title of yours! … What’s that Kerry? Yeah, that’s right! I bet you forgot you were even the champ you dimwit! I talked to the World Class governing body and reminded them you haven’t defended that title in over a month! And that’s a lot of money just sitting on the table! Well I got news for you, Kerry! Next week, you’re fighting One Man Gang for the Television title and since we’ve won this match, there’s nothing you can do about it! Haha!” Cornette giggles like a little girl while One Man Gang and Kerry Von Erich exchange pleasantries. We cut to Bill Mercer standing in a hallway, where he is joined by “The Yellow Rose of Texas”, David Von Erich! The recently returned Von Erich son has a big bandage visible on his head, covering up the damage suffered at the February Star Wars event, just last week Mercer reminds the viewers. He also calls back to scenes of David bloodied at the hands of Gino Hernandez and his best friend, Chris Adams. David shakes his head in disappointment as Mercer runs through recent events, and leads his statement by reminding Mercer and the viewers at home that he’s been bloodied and beaten before, and David Von Erich certainly isn’t down and out because of one bad night. He chuckles to himself, perhaps having forgotten just how ruthless wrestlers in Texas were like Gino and Chris, and how they have no regard for anyone but themselves. In fact, he had the match won, he reminds Mercer… He knows Gino can’t beat him clean, which is why Gino had to resort to interference from Chris Adams to hang on to the Texas title! Mercer asks how David’s head is doing, and the Yellow Rose says he will be okay recovering from his Star Wars loss last week, and is confident that at the very end of it all, he will be the Texas Heavyweight champion once again! Hercules Hernandez versus Scott Hall In an extremely short match, Hercules Hernandez defeated Scott Hall in 4:11 by pinfall with a flying double axe-handle after a distraction from Hercules’ new manager, Gary Hart! A match-up of two of the biggest guys in World Class, Hall looked a bit underwhelming despite his sizable comparision to Hercules. Nonetheless, Hercules came out looking like the strong, dominant heel he is transforming into under the guidance of his new manager. Bill Mercer is back on screen, this time joined by perhaps the most controversial man in all of World Class Championship Wrestling, Jake “The Snake” Roberts! Jake has his arms completely wrapped around his briefcase, chewing on the top handle while Mercer starts the segment. Mercer questions Jake about his attack on Gary Hart last week at the February Star Wars event, and questions the legitimacy of Jake’s briefcase. This last question is what sends Jake into a tirade, taking serious issue with Mercer questioning his briefcase, supposedly containing $250,000. He stands tall over Mercer, getting in his face, similar to how he approached Gary Hart before running Hart’s key down his head! Mercer looks scared for his life as Jake preaches about how he vows to destroy the Von Erichs and earn his two-hundred and fifty thousand dollars from the man who gave him this mission, whom he now knows is not Gary Hart! He knows this man is out there, watching his every move! He knows how he found this briefcase, and he knew no one would believe him! But none of that matters to Jake Roberts! The only thing he is worried about is fulfilling his destiny, meeting his suitor, and earning his big pay day! After commercial break, we return to a much different scene involving Bill Mercer, now is alongside Kerry Von Erich, and the recently returned Brian Adias. The two appear quite cold with their demeanor, appearing shaken up over the topic of their discussion: the ankle injury suffered by Kevin Von Erich after the brutal attack performed by Chris Adams and Hercules Hernandez! Kerry is quite upset, looking deep into the camera as he promises retribution for his older brother! Kerry reminds both Chris Adams and Hercules Hernandez that he beat Jake Roberts at the last Star Wars event, and both Adams and Hercules are no match for him either! Mercer turns his questions over to Brian Adias, who backs-up his “brother from another mother”, Kerry. He pats him on the back as he tells Bill Mercer he would be quite worried about what Kerry would do to him if he were as big of a slimeball as Chris Adams is! He ensures Adams and Hercules have got another thing coming if they think they can put a man out of work and attack a man’s livelihood like they did to Kevin. Alternating back to Kerry, Mercer asks him to share some special words he told Bill he’d like to finish with. Kerry thanks Bill for his time before issuing a challenge, he wants both Chris Adams and Hercules Hernandez two-on-two against himself and Brian Adias, and he wants them next week on Championship Sports television! Brian Adias, David Von Erich and Mike Von Erich versus Jake Roberts and The Dynamic Duo In a wild brawl that had great heat and good wrestling, Jake Roberts and The Dynamic Duo defeated Brian Adias, David Von Erich, and Mike Von Erich in 14:03 when Chris Adams pinned Mike Von Erich after a Superkick thanks to an illegal distraction by Gino Hernandez! It was a hot six-man affair in the Sportatorium, as the three biggest heels in World Class came toe-to-toe to a new assortment of Von Erich-clan opponents. This time, David was flanked by two quick and fast-moving workers, Brian and Mike, who came to the aid of Kerry last week at the February Star Wars event. Since that moment, Brian and Mike appeared to have a lot of pent up energy ready to release on the likes of Jake, Gino, and Chris... and release it they did, as Brian had a few spots in this one, first with Gino where he went from multiple quick roll-ups in a row followed by a smooth transition into a leg-lock; next with Chris where Adams feigned the Superkick and Brian caught his leg in the air turning into a few rounds of the 'ole dragon-screw! For Mike, he was able to impress the Texas-faithful with some high-flying crossbodies, akin to his older brother Kevin. While these sent he heels out from the ring to kill the momentum, there was nothing they could do to stop the commanding force of David Von Erich from playing a huge role as well. None of the heels wanted anything to do with "The Yellow Rose of Texas", as they repeatedly tagged each other in to avoid coming toe-to-toe with the pride of Texas. When the action became unavoidable for one of the men, this time being Jake Roberts, David dominated the affair, and was able to keep control of the match until having to tag out for a rest and his younger brother, Mike, giving away the babyface momentum. This may not be completely his fault, as the dastardly heels really laid it on Mike once they had the opportunity, perhaps having felt this one had slipped away much too early and were now extra reluctant to give Mike any chance to rally back. After failing to get the hot tag back to David, this one ended with Mike caught with a big Superkick from Chris Adams after Gino Hernandez was able to distract Mike Von Erich for a split second, giving the heels another chance at bragging rights moving forward. The babyfaces were able to retreat in their woes before the heels were able to lay more punishment on, as they've been known to do over recent weeks. This left, Adams, Hernandez, and Roberts all in the ring following their win, perhaps happy with their efforts, but tense due to last week's events at the Star Wars event, all not knowing what was next with Gary Hart, Jake's briefcase, the Von Erich's, and title gold... Copyright 1985, Southwest Sports, Inc. Thanks, GGM, for continuing to follow along and expressing an experienced vibrancy to the February Star Wars show, I really appreciate you joining me on this journey! And, yes, as for the briefcase, I hope things get even more interesting from here...</blockquote>
  12. hey tobin, Sorry to hear your feelings on this currently, I think a lot of us can understand the burnout which can happen when you become uninspired by the product you are putting out and becomes to feel more like a job. This is a very common issue that successful diaries run into and it is difficult to overcome. It's quite a shame this has happened, as you've certainly struck gold with this one... I wanted to provide some ideas to perhaps cut yourself a break on mistakes you feel you may have made, plus lowering your expectations on what you feel you should be producing: perhaps cut down your covered timeline per post from each episode of Hardcore TV, down to just a monthly recap. This should significantly decrease the workload while still getting the satisfaction that comes from booking another month in full and progressing higher level storyarchs and character development; don't take a long break. I know it may sound counterintuative, but you may find it much harder to get back in the flow of writing and producing the content than you feel continuing to produce it in a slimmed-down version. Taking a short break, something like a week-long, is a good idea to recharge your batteries, but telling yourself you are going to take a long-break and trying to get back into the swing of things could potentially be very challenging; really try to set a deadline on a short break where you commit to yourself you are going to work through the booking challenges you feel you have and just try to have fun with things. Break out another three month timeline and come up with super high level stories you think you'd enjoy telling and then break them down month by month, then week by week into what you will be booking. The booking may feel different than what you really expected at the start of things, but you are also building your own unique world you have the chance to continue and make even more interesting. I, for one, never expected to see Curt Hennig, and I find it fascinating to imagine him in ECW during this timeframe... and losing Bubba Ray, what another big challenge I'd love to see you overcome... embrace the challenge; maybe take an extended break or choose to completely cut-out the extra content you are adding to your posts (podcasts, detailed world news, etc.) and slim it down really big news that matters; hard part is this has been a big reason people love your diary and rightfully so, however I think it's understandable for the sake of the diary if these items are no more or only when you are extra inspired to produce them; reach out to other diary-writers who are 3+ months into the game and ask them how they help prevent their burn-out and how they've recovered making decisions in their game/booking they regret down the road. Of course, this is all your decision, and your decision is certainly respected. Whatever you choose, everyone will understand and certainly always remember this diary as one of the best, as well as very influential with the presentation.

The final few minutes of this one gave the smaller, underdog babyfaces one last chance at it, but the overpowering physique and strength of two men like Hercules and Missing Link were too much to overcome in this one. Mike and Terry both looked good, but just couldn’t get the job done despite trying their best to get both men on the ground. Having manager Gary Hart at ringside certainly didn’t help their cause either. This one had some action early before the bell, with Terry Gordy attacking The Crusher as he made his entrance. The Dallas audience gave Crusher a decent enough reaction, and definitely drew some more sympathy when Gordy pummeled him from behind and dragged Crusher around Reunion Arena. Finally, once back in the ring, Crusher had been slammed on the finished concrete floor more than once, including some of the fans' seats, as Gordy was a wild man, taking no regard for anyone or anybody. Crusher was more savvy than Gordy perhaps took credit for, relying on his thirty-year in-ring experience to comeback towards the end. If it would have gone any longer, Crusher likely would have started looking gassed, so five minutes after the bell the contest ended accordingly when Gordy dodged a big blow from the Polish powerhouse and caught the Crusher with enough stuff to set him up for the final blow via the powerbomb. After earning the three-count, however, Gordy acted very differently than before, seeing to The Crusher following his defeat, helping him to his feet, and choosing to help raise his arm! Perhaps we are seeing a different side of Terry Gordy now that he is not under the influence of the other Freebirds? No matter the case, the Reunion Arena audience was receptive and sent both men back to their locker rooms with an applause.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div Manning, convinced he saw Billy Jack drop the chain after recovering from a referee bump to find Randy Savage tapping, begins accusing Billy Jack of using the chain to submit Savage! Gary Hart is now on the apron, adamant this is in fact the case! Savage is in agreeance, and tries to show Manning the marks on his neck! Despite Billy Jack’s refusal to admit this, Manning’s mind can’t be changed! He calls for the decision to be reversed and awards the match to Adams and Savage! Furious, Billy Jack gets in the face of David Manning and tries to plead his case. The referee isn’t having it, and refuses to reverse his decision. Newcomer Jerry Blackwell soon gets involved in the proceedings, but Chris Adams puts his hand on Jerry’s chest and shoves him away from the discussions. This certainly rubs Blackwell the wrong way. At 474 lbs., Blackwell isn’t the kind of guy you just lay a hand on, and he proves this to be the case as he puts all his weight behind shoving Adams down and through the ropes, out to the ringside area! This irates Gary Hart, who now has it in for Blackwell, and Jerry stands tall, giving Hart a mouthful of his own! Adams is furious on the outside, pointing and yelling at Blackwell, telling him he’s going to pay for putting his hands on him! Meanwhile, Savage taunts Billy Jack, hinting at another showdown between these two in the near future.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><img alt="tXlCkCr.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/tXlCkCr.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><img alt="5JRgdhb.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/5JRgdhb.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="CmIJA9M.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/CmIJA9M.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="9I2GCdo.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/9I2GCdo.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>NWA American Heavyweight Championship</strong></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong> </strong></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><span style="color:#0a265e;">Kerry Von Erich ©</span></strong></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong> versus </strong></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><span style="color:#bd0000;">Jake Roberts</span></strong></span></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> In a superb match, </div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong><span style="color:#0a265e;">Kerry Von Erich ©</span></strong></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> defeated </div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong><span style="color:#bd0000;">Jake Roberts</span></strong></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> in 17:16 by disqualification after Jake uses his indestructible briefcase to attack Kerry over the head, but the same referee as the match prior, </div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Bronco Lubich</strong></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">, sees the briefcase sitting just in the corner of his eye, and quickly questions Jake on the matter! Jake’s defense isn’t enough to convince the referee the briefcase didn’t come into play within the past few seconds, especially since no manager stood in Jake’s corner. Bronco Lubich calls for the bell and disqualifies Jake on the spot, providing for defence number seven of the NWA American Heavyweight title by champion Kerry Von Erich. The fans celebrate as their homegrown star is handed his title belt by Lubich, and has his arm raised. He’s quickly taken down from behind, however, when Roberts again uses his briefcase as a weapon! This time, there’s nothing the referee can do about it, as Roberts begins clobbering Kerry with the briefcase, and eventually turns to using his fists and feet as weapons as well. Despite a hard fought match by both men, Jake’s refusal to win or lose clean puts him two steps back just as he took one foot forward again. And, once more, his temper got the best of him here. Perhaps his obsession and goal of destroying the Von Erichs is becoming too much for him to handle…</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><img alt="tXlCkCr.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/tXlCkCr.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> As </div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong><span style="color:#bd0000;">Jake Roberts</span></strong></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> continues his post-match attack on </div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong><span style="color:#0a265e;">Kerry Von Erich</span></strong></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">, frustration with Jake grows within the audience as his attacks don’t seem to be letting up any time soon. Such a shame this one ended the way it did, as both David and Gino wrestled one of their best matches against each other in their storied history. Returning to singles competition in front of the Reunion Arena crowd, the fans were incredibly hot-to-trot for the “Yellow Rose of Texas”. His best moments came when frustrating Gino throughout most of the match, always “one-upping” Gino’s dirty tricks and tactics… David proved one step ahead the entire way. This certainly means David was close to winning back “his” Texas Heavyweight title. For Gino, however, it wasn’t all cheats and tricks in this one, as great wrestling from the Highland Park talent earned him his advantage in this match as well, showing to David that he may have learned something over the past year himself. But with someone like Gino Hernandez involved in such a high profile match, he would undoubtedly have something nasty up his sleeve. That piece of slime this time was his tag team partner, who ran from the heel entranceway and threw Gino the Texas Heavyweight title from the time keeper’s table! Gino would take hold of the gold and red belt, and put it high in the sky as if he was going to wail it acros David’s head! The referee quickly saw Gino with the belt, and ran over to remove the potential weapon from the field of play. This gave Chris Adams the perfect opportunity to slide in the ring, catching David off-guard as the hometown favorite turned around and walked right into a Superkick! Von Erich splattered in the center of the ring as Adams jumped out and Gino jumped on top for the pinfall! After the bell, Gino jumped up in celebration as David was out cold! Gino Hernandez makes defence number ten of the NWA Texas Heavyweight title!</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><img alt="tXlCkCr.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/tXlCkCr.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><img alt="MCv8dg3.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/MCv8dg3.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="1muKkhq.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/1muKkhq.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="enLTODW.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/enLTODW.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="9I2GCdo.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/9I2GCdo.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> With </div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong><span style="color:#0a265e;">David Von Erich</span></strong></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> seemingly knocked out, the referee quickly attended to the defeated title challenger as fans gave </div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong><span style="color:#bd0000;">Chris Adams</span></strong></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> and </div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong><span style="color:#bd0000;">Gino Hernandez</span></strong></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> a piece of their mind! Hart stampers back, holding on awkwardly as Roberts fingers Hart in the shoulder and </div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><span style="color:#bd0000;">demands Gary opens the briefcase!</span></strong></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The fans erupt as Hart is back at the ropes and Jake is spitting in his face! He tells Hart to open the briefcase since the deed is done! He points to how David was just carried out and Gino won the match, and he wants his two-hundred and fifty thousand dollars! Gary, despite having supposedly provided the briefcase in secret to Jake, is intensely dismissive of Jake’s demands, and refuses to comply.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> This quickly catches the attention of the Dynamic Duo, who approach both Gary and Jake, and pick-up on what’s happening. He yells out it was </div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>”only David!”</em></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">, multiple times, presumably implying that tonight only David really got a bad licking, and doesn’t feel it was enough to warrant opening the case. For Gino and Chris, however, they must have certainly been thinking long and hard about the briefcase in Jake’s hands over the course of the past month… Did it really contain all of the money Jake claimed? Was it certifiably indestructible? Did Gary Hart really secretly give it to Jake, and if so, where did he really get all this money? And hey, why wasn’t the Dynamic Duo seeing any of Gary’s large stack of cash!? Greed soon overcomes both men, and they TOO demand Gary open the briefcase!</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Hart is helpless! Now, Gino is pretty much frisking him as Chris tries to calm Gary down. The Texas champ perks up when he thinks he’s found something… it’s a key! Gino pulls a key out from Gary’s inside breast pocket, and shows it to the trio! He pleads with them not to do anything with the key, but their’s no stopping them! Chris helps hold back Gary as Jake and Gino fumble over the key! They eventually get it slotted in place and push it down into the lock. Jake tries to turn it, and turn it, and … well, it’s not turning!</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong><span style="color:#bd0000;">Hey, it’s not turning!</span></strong></span></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> They quickly turn their attention to Gary, who looks shell-shocked! Gino takes control and thinks he can open it, but nothing’s working! For such strong professional wrestlers to struggle with opening a simple key and lock, something’s up! And it quickly overcomes them, and lead announcer Bill Mercer, that maybe this isn’t the right key! And maybe, just maybe, this isn’t Gary Hart’s briefcase! They argue with Gary and accuse him of lying! Gary tries to appear as innocent as possible, but he’s not fooling anybody, and soon admits it’s not his briefcase! He’s been lying this entire time! Jake now looks demonic as he stares at the key and then starts running the sharp side down Gary’s head in anger! Gino can’t believe it! He throws the briefcase in the mat, while Chris walks around in disbelief as well! He sees Jake running the key on Hart, and almost stops the hateful act, but doesn’t seem to have a soft spot for his manager anymore! Jake starts stomping on Hart, and Gino joins in as well, but luckily for Gary, now with blood running down the side of his head, he rolls out to safety! The Texas crowd gives the heels a piece of their mind as their night flips upside down from right under them, and they leave Reunion Arena as angry and perplexed as ever as to the true story of Jake’s mysterious briefcase!</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> It's a Texas Street Fight match for these two, as The Crusher will surely give Gordy a taste of what growing up on the mean streets of Mi'waukee as a youth is all about! And, following the defeat of Brian Adias on World Class television, the man with the mysterious $250,000 briefcase has a chance at gold! Jake "The Snake" Roberts will do battle with "The Modern Day Warrior" Kerry Von Erich in what will surely be a match to remember! Roberts... determined to destroy the Von Erich family and earn his supposed two-hundred and fifty thousand dollars from a man who apparently planted the briefcast at an opportune moment for Jake to find... "Playboy" Gary Hart.. And for the champion Kerry, an opportunity to uphold his family's name and stave off the continued efforts of Roberts and Hart to dismantle his bloodline! Hot tag team action featuring... Up-and-comers Mike Von Erich and Terry Taylor, joining forces to take on the much more physically intimidating duo of The Missing Link and, the newest member of the roster to join forces with the top heels in World Class, Hercules Hernandez. For Hernandez, it will be his first opportunity to wrestle a Von Erich since joining World Class Championship Wrestling... will this have any implications for the night? Perhaps the hottest tag team in the territory, second only to tag champs themselves, the Rock N' Roll Express face-off against another new challenger in the tag team division since recently arriving from nearly dominating the Memphis-wrestling scene, The Fabulous Ones! Another tag team bout will partake soon after, as Jim Cornette and The Midnight Express have another shot at taking NWA American Tag Team gold! The current champions, The Fantastics, are perhaps the hottest team in the country, and based on the Midnights' recent success, they've proved it! Can the Fantastics stay kings of the hill this Sunday at the Reunion Arena? And, sparks will surely fly in our final tag team match of the evening, as "Macho Man" Randy Savage will come face-to-face for the first time in a month against Billy Jack Haynes, as they are joined respectively by Chris Adams and, recent addition to the roster, Jerry Blackwell in tag team competition! Savage asked for Haynes in any capacity, and the World Class presiding committee granted his wish! Can four-man action hold these two apart, or will Reunion Arena find itself with a bloody mess? Plus! Bill Mercer will share an update to the live and closed-circuit audience in regards to the recovery of Kevin Von Erich, following the aforementioned Hercules Hernandez and Chris Adams on the latest broadcast of World Class television! Also, perhaps Mercer can share some information as to the rumor that Gary Hart has taken Hercules under his wing! And the Star Wars main event... Making his championship bout return to the world-famous Reunion Arena, David Von Erich squares off against the man holding his most sacred World Class title, the NWA Texas Heavyweight title... A man who hails from Highland Park, the wealthiest suburb of Dallas, Texas... A man who respects none of what patriarch Fritz, and the rest of the Von Erich family has built, and certainly gives no respect to David's return to the company he grew up in... He calls himself "The Handsome Halfbreed"... "Bad to the Bone"... it's "Gorgeous" Gino Hernandez! His challenger, David Von Erich, rides alone for the first time in front of thousands of the World Class faithful, and may stop at nothing to earn back "his" NWA Texas Heavyweight title! Tickets are still available over the telephone or by visiting the Reunion Arena box office at 777 Sports Street in Dallas, Texas! Not old enough to sit while the polka's playing, brother! Thank you, that means a lot! Glad I can envoke some nostalgia for a time when perhaps you weren't even alive (I know I wasn't). Dynamic Duo shirt would be sick! I might try to feature some old WCCW stuff, just as some added fluff for people to deep dive a bit more into their history! </blockquote>

Billy Jack looked good in this one, with full crowd support the entire way. An easy win for Haynes. After Billy Jack Haynes' win, referee Bronco Lubich raised his arm to the infatuation of the Texas crowd. He was certainly a growing favorite since arriving in World Class in 1984, no doubt about that. It is also without a doubt that he has already made enemies in WCCW, namely young hot shot Randy Savage... Right ahead of the February Star Wars event, Savage used tonight’s edition of Championship Sports to send a message to Haynes, bursting through the entrance way as Haynes had his arm raised and running towards the ring. The crowd lit up as Savage slid-in and Haynes put up his fists. Billy Jack challenges Randy to take a shot, the first time these two would come toe-to-toe since their initial dispute. Savage looks like he might bite, but instead leads Billy Jack, and gets the fans riled up. Instead of making a move, Savage instead demands a microphone and gives Billy Jack a few words… ”Billy Jack! You think you know something about the Macho Man? Will let me tell you one thing you might not know yet! At the February Star Wars, I want you however I can get you! I don't care if it's a singles match, a tag team shot, a battle royale, whatever it might be Billy Jack! You don’t stand a chance and soon enough you and all these fans will soon see what the Macho Man is all about, oh yeahhh!” Moving along to lead broadcaster Bill Mercer, he is standing in front of a WCCW banner, alongside fan favorite David Von Erich. Mercer mentions how it’s already been a month since David’s return to World Class, and says what month it has been! He says he is glad to be standing alongside David ahead of another Star Wars event, and shares the news with the fans that David Von Erich will indeed be making a challenge against Gino Hernandez for the NWA Texas Heavyweight championship! David is rubbing his hands together at the prospect of becoming Texas champion once again, but also explains he has been waiting to get his hands on Gino Hernandez one-on-one for the first time since coming back. He calls Gino the scum of World Class wrestling, no matter where he comes from. And no matter what kind of car he drives, or what piece of tail he has around his arms, he knows nobody in the great state of Texas respects him as a wrestler, and most importantly respects him as a man. He says you can judge any man by the men he surrounds himself with. He prefers to surround himself with his family and close friends. People who mean the world to him. Gino, on the other hand, prefers to surround himself with snakes and rats. People like Gary Hart, Chris Adams, and Jake Roberts. And at February Star Wars, judgment day is upon Gino Hernandez, and God will show his reckoning when David Von Erich forces Gino to submit to the Iron Claw! NWA American Tag Team Championship The Fantastics © versus The Fabulous Ones In a decent storytelling match, The Fantastics © defeated The Fabulous Ones in 10:07 when Tommy Rogers pinned Stan Lane with a Sunset Flip! It was a tense affair the entire match as it was revealed that The Midnight Express were to be sitting ringside the entire bout! The Midnights and The Fantastics have been at each other’s throats the past couple of months, and now a new tag team was throwing their hat into the mix… The Fabulous Ones, a very talented team from around the country, who certainly gave the Fantastics a serious run for their money. It didn’t help for the tag champs to have their challengers at the February Star Wars sitting just outside the action, but things really got out of hand when their manager, Jim Cornette made his way to the ring! He ran up to the apron and got involved with the referee, giving the Fabulous Ones a chance to capitalize on a blind referee opportunity, but instead Rogers smartened up and caught Lane with a sunset flip for the one, two, three! Ringside, The Midnight Express are furious, but will have to wait for February Star Wars to get another chance... The Fantastics make defence number eight of the NWA American Tag Team titles. Back to our lead broadcaster, Bill Mercer, he is now joined by whom he calls a legend in professional wrestling, making his World Class Championship Wrestling debut, all the way from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, it’s The Crusher! He’s sporting his patented stogie along with sunglasses and a nice polo shirt. Mercer says The Crusher will be Terry Gordy’s opponent at the February Star Wars event, and asks Crusher what his opinion is on battling Gordy at his first World Class event. ”Well you know Bill I hear Terry Gordy is a tough guy. I hear Terry Gordy says he’s fought all da best in the world. I hear Terry Gordy told you he said he’s da best in the world. Well what Terry Gordy don’t know ‘bout is growin’ up in Mi’waukee, fightin’ da toughest guys in the saloon, drinking all da beer dey had at the saloon after taking all da dollies on a nice spin, Terry Gordy don’t come from a fightin’ family like I did. Terry Gordy can’t dance to the polka like a real man can. Terry Gordy hasn’t had a girlfriend longer than a lucky night. You see da Crusher was brought up in da streets, nobody taught me nothin’ but me learnin’ da hard way. Da only hard way Terry Gordy has ever seen is da one I’m gonna show him Sunday at da big Star Wars! So Terry Gordy, you big bum! ... you can polish your boots, finish your beer, and muster up da courage to step in da ring with me, but just remember your stepping in da ring with Da Crusher! I been raised on da streets and I been beatin’ dummies like you all my life, so get ready for another crushing at da hands of Da Crusher! … Now where’s da polka in this town? I hear dey got da best-...” Crusher says as he starts walking off camera, fading away from the microphone, leaving Mercer a bit speechless but nonetheless ready to promote The Crusher’s upcoming single match against Terry Gordy at the February Star Wars event! Fading to another shot of Bill Mercer, he is now joined by the likes of Kerry, Kevin, and Mike Von Erich. The three brothers have quiet a serious demeanor as Mercer essentially recaps everything which has happened leading up to the return of their brother David from Japan, and all that has transpired leading up to his Texas Heavyweight title match at the February Star Wars event. Kerry begins as Mercer finishes mentioning the return of his friend Brian Adias, whom Kerry says he’s grateful for, on top of the return of his brother David. Kerry is confident in Brian’s abilities, and says no matter how nasty someone like Jake “The Snake” Roberts wants to act, he knows Brian will put him in his place tonight. Kevin is asked about Jake Roberts in particular, whom he also calls a cheating snake in the grass. He says no briefcase and no amount of money can change a man overnight, because a real man is made by the character of his being, and Jake is no man of character! That’s why when Brian beats Jake tonight, he wants Jake one-on-one at the February Star Wars event! Bill is excited about the prospect of Kevin’s challenge, and finishes off the segment touching base with Mike Von Erich, who says he’s simply so excited to have his family back together once again and can’t wait to wrestle at the next upcoming Star Wars. Brian Adias versus Jake Roberts In a wild brawl that had good heat and decent wrestling, Jake Roberts defeated Brian Adias in 10:06 by pinfall with a DDT following interference from … Hercules Hernandez! That’s right! What started as a wild affair ended in even more surprising fashion when Hercules hit the ring after nine minutes of action after a referee bump, and attacked the babyface Adias as soon as he had the opportunity to perhaps fulfill his promise of beating Jake Roberts! At 6’1”, 270 lbs., and a wild head of curly hair to accompany a phenomenal physique, Hercules is an incredibly intimidating individual who is locally known. But questions surrounded Hercules’ intentions on interfering in this one, as Jake himself seemed a bit off-guard as to why he had attacked Brian the way he did. Nevertheless, it gave Jake the opportunity he needed to finish Adias off with a big DDT in the center of the ring, and secure his NWA American Heavyweight title opportunity against Kerry Von Erich at the February Star Wars! After the bell, Hercules continued his attack on Brian, and Jake joined in. The two stomped on Brian under one the middle ropes, as the fans laid on the heat. To no one’s surprise, next into the ring was Chris Adams and Gino Hernandez! The two ran out and helped join in the beatdown, eventually shaking hands with Hercules, who drew the ire of the WCCW fans for seemingly joining in alliance with the most hated heels in all of Texas! They all laughed together, looking real smug, proud of their immoral behavior... But here comes the calvary! It’s the whole Von Erich clan this time! David, Kerry, Kevin, and even Mike take to their Dad’s ring and attack the heels! Kerry on Jake, David on Gino, Kevin on Hercules, and Mike on Chris! The fans go wild as another huge brawl erupts in the ring and the officials continue hitting the bell. Chaos in the ring, some escape to the outside while a lot of action remains in the ring. Eventually we see Mike Von Erich knocked down and out, allowing Chris Adams to move on to help Hercules Hernandez handle Kevin Von Erich on the outside. Together, they brutalized Kevin against one of the ring posts, and eventually, at the instruction of Gary Hart, who eventually had the balls to make it out into the action. At the behest of Gary, Chris Adams arranged for a steel chair to fold as much as possible in between the ankle of Kevin Von Erich. As the powerful Hercules held him down, the fans winced in freight of what they were about to see... The "Gentleman" Chris Adams walked slight out of the way, giving himself room for a jump start and a... "Oh no! How could they do this!?" exclaimed Bill Mercer, as Adams landed directly on the chair, bending Kevin's ankle! Kevin began howling in pain as Hercules let go and look savagely at poor Kevin Von Erich. At this point officials focused on this scene of the action and was able to break-up any further attacks on Kevin, allowing medical experts to intervene. With Kevin's ankle utterly obliterated, the action between the boys slowed down as more came to check on brother Kevin. As he rithed in pain, Mercer says goodbye to the World Class faithful and asks them to pray for the health of young Kevin Von Erich! Copyright 1985, Southwest Sports, Inc. </blockquote>

In another test of strength of recently returned “Yellow Rose of Texas”, savage antics from the Missing Link may have reminded David of some of his most savage opponents in Japan and from across his world tour. With his intimidating size as well, Link was overpowering David early on, but the will of David allowed him, along with the support of the people, to come back and catch Link off-guard with his father’s patented submission hold. After his win, Gino Hernandez, accompanied by the other half of the Dynamic Duo, Chris Adams, run out to ringside and almost take to the ring to attack David, but make the choice to simply exchange words instead. After the opening match we are taken to Bill Mercer standing side-by-side with another new return to the World Class territory, Brian Adias! He is introduced, alongside Kerry Von Erich, as a close family friend of the Von Erichs, and reminds the people he grew up alongside Kerry and the rest of the Von Erichs and calls him his brother from another mother. Mercer mentions Brian has been traveling the country, wrestling all around, and has returned to World Class inspired by David’s return. Adias concurs with Mercer’s take, and then calls David the true Texas Heavyweight champion, before putting himself over as another one of Texas’ finest talents. He says he’s returned to show the fans all he’s learned and just what he’s all about, and to prove himself he issues a challenge to Jake “The Snake” Roberts! Adias calls him a snake, a rat, and every nasty creature in between! He tells Bill that Kerry has agreed to an incentive to draw Jake from out of his cave, and offers Jake a shot at the NWA American Heavyweight title at the February Star Wars event, if he can pin Brian with by pinfall! Kerry backs up his best friend Brian, and confirms he nor Brian are scared of Jake or anyone he associates with! He says he doesn’t even need to think twice about facing Jake, because he’s so confident that next week, Brain will be able to beat Jake if he has the guts to accept the challenge, like a real man! We cut back to the ring where Jim Cornette is seen holding a microphone, standing alongside his tag team, The Midnight Express. He announces he’s met with the World Class governing body, and they’ve graciously agreed to grant The Midnight Express another shot at the NWA American Tag Team titles. Cornette, however, isn’t humble whatsoever, and calls it a travesty that the Midnights need to even compete in a match just to earn their rightful belts back. As he brings up the current champions, and their current rivals, The Fantastics, Cornette reminds himself why the crowd is so excited to hear their name, ”It’s because their as stupid and dimwitted as all of you idiots out here!” That drew a big reaction from the fans in attendance, but their jeers quickly turned to cheers when the champions themselves came out from the entrance way! Bobby Fulton gets the fans going when he starts mocking Cornette, trying to impersonate his mannerisms and mocks Cornette getting permission from his mother to even get a ride to tonight’s show! Fulton reminds the fans, and particularly Cornette, that the reason his tag team lost their last chance at the belts was because of him! Fulton calls Cornette the worst manager he’s ever seen, and tells Jim, ”We ain’t got no issue with a big rematch between us, because we know as soon as we get in those ropes and those phonies are standing across from us, it’s already over because we’re the Fantastics and we’re the best team this crowd has ever seen!” Fulton is commanding with his words, and Cornette looks to be in an odd combination of frustrated and angry. No matter the case, the Fantastics walk out of his one standing tall. But out comes another hot, rising team in World Class Championship Wrestling… The Rock N’ Roll Express! The Midnight Express versus The Rock N’ Roll Express In a bout which got the crowd hotter and had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, the Rock N' Roll Express defeated The Midnight Express in 10:03 when Ricky Morton pinned Dennis Condrey following a second missile dropkick from the top rope, following interference disrupting Bobby Eaton by one half of the tag champs, Bobby Fulton! The Fantastics got themselves involved in this won, much to the chagrin from the babyface challengers. Undoubtedly for the Midnight Express, an awful night ahead of their tag title rematch. Back with lead announcer Bill Mercer, he is joined by Terry Gordy, wearing his normal wrestling trunks and a hooded sweatshirt. Mercer gives Gordy an opportunity to share his thoughts, and Gordy thanks him before giving the fans this hot take: Michael Hayes has left World Class wrestling, and Gordy says his former tag team partner, and partner-in-crime has left him out to dry in the hot Texas heat! Hayes has jumped town, left the territory, and Michael Hayes told him he didn’t need Terry anymore! Mercer is shocked to learn this, as this is the first he is hearing of it apparently... Terry looks slightly beside himself when he first shared the update, but as Mercer continues to ask him about just exactly what is going on between The Freebirds, Gordy composes himself. ”Yeah, Bill, yeah, I know! Everybody loves the Freebirds! Everybody hartes the Freebirds! And Michael is a major part of the Freebirds, there's no doubt about that! But Michael, I got news for you boy! You think you’re dumping me? You think you’re the hot shot you claim to be? I know the real you, Michael Hayes, and I know you ain’t as hot to trot as you says you is! And you can’t fool me like you can fool all these people, ya hear? I ain’t afraid of you, and I ain’t afraid of nobody in World Class wrasslin’! And I know there’s only one thing left to do now, and that’s to prove Michael and the rest of the world wrong that Terry Gordy is the better man, and that I’m the greatest wrestler the world has ever seen!” Brian Adias and Kerry Von Erich versus Chris Adams and Jake Roberts In a storytelling bout that had great heat and good wrestling, Chris Adams and Jake Roberts defeated Brian Adias and Kerry Von Erich in 15:25 after Chris Adams pinned Brian Adias following a Superkick thanks to interference from his manager Gary Hart. This time, the briefcase did not come into play, as Jake didn’t really have the chance this time ‘round to make the final blow. Instead, Adams took the spotlight in this match, and looked really good against Kerry Von Erich. While they both fought one another a majority of their in-ring time, Brian Adias mainly squared-off against Jake Roberts. Adias and Roberts came across as evenly matched for the most part, although perhaps Adias only held on because Kerry frequently made the save when required... However, "The Modern Day Warrior", Kerry Von Erich couldn't save the day at every opportunity, and had himself in a bad situation with Roberts as Adams broke through the ceiling with Adias, and nailed him square with a Superkick thanks to distraction by his manager! Following their victory, Adams and Roberts gloated in front of the spiteful Texas crowd. On most nights, they would take the boots to Adias and Kerry, but tonight, Jake Roberts surprisingly took to the microphone, and gave the fans some news. He accepts Brian’s challenge for next week, and promises to take the NWA American Heavyweight title from Kerry because of it! Bill Mercer is riled up after the main event, calling it sad night in World Class, but says next week's match between Adias and Roberts is sure to be a barn burner! Tune in next week for another episode of World Class Championship Sports, the major league of professional wrestling! Copyright 1985, Southwest Sports, Inc. Welcome to this 'ole Texas hoedown! You've been super supportive of my work so thanks for jumping on the wagon of this WCCW diary! Same as you, I've always had a lot of intrigue over World Class. Before the WWE Network, my exposure was extremely minimal. I had always heard of the Von Erichs, and the World Class territory, and all I would ever hear is how hot the Von Erichs were back in the early 80's and how unique and special of a situation it was. The more I learned about it, the more I understand why this was, and thanks to the Network you can really see just what everyone was talking about. Surely the World Class audience had the greatest ratio of female:male fans ever seen in American wrestling during its peak. Plus you combine it with the most sincere general communal following/gathering aspect of World Class in the Dallas-area... running the same venues and doing multiple shows per week with a really strong following, another real rarity in professional wrestling. I hope this diary acts as a "what if?" for World Class perhaps breaking out of Texas and surviving the onslaught of Vince and the WWF... Thanks for reading! Also, quick question for the audience, does anyone know how to code a three-colored border around my posts? Interested in having the red, black and blue around my show posts... think it would look super cool. Please PM me if you know how!</blockquote>

  22. Maybe it's just plain 'ole bad luck! Lucky for him, screwing up every match can't last forever! Would expect it has to turn around at some point... Thanks for the kind words and for following along this diary! I couldn't imagine David returning from Japan and turning heel, but certainly perhaps one of the Von Erich's will one day make the switch...

Savage was furious following the bell, and became coming at the Midnight Express, who turned to the aisleway along with their manager. Savage himself, didn't want anything to do with Billy Jack, whom he has been giving grief about over the past few weeks. This match gave the two the opportunity to really lock up for a couple of a minutes, but the two walked away clearly evenly matched. For the Fantastics, another big win as their hot streak in World Class continues. After returning from commercial break, Bill Mercer takes us to an interview he conducted with ”Playboy” Gary Hart, but this time around, he is interrupted by none only than the man with Hart’s supposed “Von Erich briefcase”, Jake Roberts! Jake enters the shot hot off the presses, and shoves the briefcase in Hart's face, demanding that Gary owes him his money! He says he ruined David Von Erich's homecoming, and so he completed the task he was asked to perform! Gary stands up for himself and tells Jake he hasn't done nearly enough of what must be done to destroy the Von Erichs! Does he think “Playboy” deals with gentlemen who are willing to cough up as much dough as is in the briefcase only for Jake to spoil some ridiculous party? Yes, the homecoming is all a part of their goal, but he and Jake must go further! He begins preaching about how he wants to see the Von Erich's bleed! He wants to see them cry! He wants to make sure the Von Erich's never step foot inside a wrestling ring again! Jake seems enamored with Gary Hart’s prophetic vision by the end of the segment, and tensions have been quelled for now. Next up, it’s the ”Yellow Rose of Texas” David Von Erich who is on camera alongside World Class interviewer and lead announcer Bill Mercer. Mercer kicks off the segment by welcoming David alongside him and mentions how they just reviewed the tape of Gary Hart and Jake Roberts just shown prior. Sporting his patented cowboy hat, David responds to Hart's comments about him and “his” title. The Yellow Rose says he is not afraid of anyone or anything! He hasn’t been his entire life, and he certainly isn’t now that he’s back from conquering the globe! David says he has seen many men, faced many brutes, cross paths with many foes, and not even an army of one thousand men mustered together by Gary Hart could stop him from achieving his goal of becoming NWA Texas Heavyweight champion, and eventual NWA World champion. He ends the segment by telling Hart and ”the rest of his minions” to bring it on! Iceman King Parsons and Kerry Von Erich versus Jake Roberts and One Man Gang In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, Jake Roberts and One Man Gang defeated Kerry Von Erich and Iceman King Parsons in 9:58 when Jake Roberts pinned Iceman King Parsons after hitting him with his briefcase behind the referee's back! Over the course of the match, Kerry was clearly keen on getting his hands on Jake, who would always tag out as soon as Kerry was tagged in. But once Kerry got his hands on "The Snake", the crowd erupted as he laid down as much of a beating he could before being pumbled by One Man Gang from behind! This gave the heels the upper-hand, as they eliminated Kerry from challenging the remainder of their time in the ring, giving Jake the opportunity to win another match through the tainted use of his mysterious briefcase! David & Kevin Von Erich versus Gino Hernandez and Terry Gordy In a superb wild brawl, David & Kevin Von Erich defeated Gino Hernandez and Terry Gordy in 10:16 when David Von Erich pinned Gino Hernandez with an Okana roll as Gordy was too late to break-up the pin! Unlike Jake and Kerry in the prior affair, David and Gino didn't hold back any punches as the two came to blows frequently throughout the match, much to the crowd's pleasure. Gino came across as the big ego trying to show the world just how great he is, while David played the spoiler in Gino's dramatic theatre. He also showed signs of frustration to his partner for the night, Terry Gordy, who didn't come across as tenacious as Gino's usual tag partners, perhaps allowing Gino to take more a beating than he would have liked. The opposite can be said for Kevin, who wonderfully acted in support of his brother David throughout the match. Their tag chemistry was clearly a big factor in walking away victorious in this one. Needless to say, after the match Gino was furious. After arguing for the referee for a few seconds, Gino looked to the aisleway and began waving his hand towards his position... And running down came heel support “Gentleman” Chris Adams and Jake “The Snake” Roberts! They hit the ring and immediately began plummeting both Von Erichs, with Gino joining into the foray after quickly recovering. The three men separated David and Kevin into different corners, Gino moving between both as he gave the boys some heavy boots. David in particular received a real mean slap across the face from Gino, as well! Terry Gordy had dropped to the outside, watching as the Von Erich fell victim to the dastardly trio… Fans on the outside, all enraged over what was happening, urged Gordy to get in and save the babyface superstars… But perhaps before Gordy had an opportunity to play hero, the fans attention quickly turned to the arrival of Kerry Von Erich and a familiar face to World Class wrestling... his friend for life… Brian Adias! Making his Texas wrestling return, childhood friend of the Von Erichs and former Varsity football teammate of Kerry Von Erich, Brian Adias, hit the ring with his best friend from the age of four and quickly overwhelmed the The Dynamic Duo and Jake Roberts! Brian focused mainly on Jake, taking him to task against the ropes, launching him off, and hitting him with a big elbow! The fans lit up even more when Brian chucked Jake over the top rope! Meanwhile, Kerry brought the heat too, throwing Chris Adams over as well. He took Chris around the aprons, smashing him into the corner posts and punishing him on the open ground. With David and Kevin stunned, this left Gino standing face-to-face with Brian Adias, two men who have battled at various points in time in the past, but perhaps no bigger moment than right now. Gino egged on Brian, who didn't back down in the face of arrogant competition. Gino charged for a big hit and Brian countered with an excellent sweep, sending Hernandez straight to the mat! Getting to his feet, Brian rushed Gino into the corner and began to drill into him with hard rights and a couple gut kicks! By this time, Jake was getting back into the action, and nearly got into it again with Brian Adias before Gino scurried out of the ring and prompted Jake to follow him along. David and Kevin were also looking to join the fight, this time, out numbering the trio for the first time! With the heels running to the back, the babyfaces cherished the admiration of their home state crowd! Copyright 1985, Southwest Sports, Inc. </blockquote>

It's a match where it's explained Gino was willing to put his Texas Heavyweight title on the line to show anybody, making strong satirical hint to that of David Von Erich, while that he could beat anyone else on the roster too. Andrea the Lady Giant got her hands dirty a bit too at ringside for Gino. Hernandez makes defence number nine of the NWA Texas Heavyweight championship. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/yx5jANK2SX8?start=12" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> Bill Mercer is alongside "Playboy" Gary Hart, who comes hot out the gate trying to quell rumors related to Jake Roberts' mysterious briefcase. Hart proclaims, ”Yes! It was me! All along, I was the one who planted that briefcase for Jake to find. And I know Jake is the perfect man to motivate with such a magnificent object! The world’s most indestructible briefcase, all the way from the depths of Moscow! There’s no greater piece of security like it in the world today!” Nobody will get their hands on Hart’s money, which he claims comes from a pool of investors with interests in removing the Von Erichs from wrestling power. He also shares that after his three guys trampled the Von Erichs and ”ruined” David's homecoming, he was considering opening up his briefcase, but it wasn’t the right time... He says the Von Erichs haven't suffered enough, and most importantly, Kerry can still call himself NWA American Heavyweight champion. He says until Kerry is dethroned, no one, not even Jake “The Snake” Roberts, is going to get into that briefcase and his bidding must be complete in full! We cut to Bill Mercer once again, who is now interviewing Randy Savage in a local broadcasting studio, fake plants included. Mercer brings up Billy Jack Haynes' comments in regards to Randy Savage, when he said he saw no comparison between the two men. Savage heats up quickly, appearing angry, and saying those were hostile words from his point of view. Savage is also very quick to let everyone know about how he feels about Billy Jack. Randy calls him a coward, and that Billy Jack shouldn't be saying things about people which he can't back up in the ring! He promises, any day of any week, he could beat Billy Jack clean and easy... one, two, three... Bobby Eaton versus Bobby Fulton In a decent wild brawl, Bobby Fulton defeated Bobby Eaton in 7:39 when Bobby Eaton got disqualified as his tag team partner and other half of The Midnight Express, Dennis Condrey, hit the ring to help beatdown Fulton. Meanwhile, manager Jim Cornette had the refere distracted with nonsense involving Fulton’s partner, Tommy Rogers. But once Rogers knocked Cornette over the head, he was quick to make the save! David Von Erich has finally returned to World Class Championship Wrestling, and joins Bill Mercer to discuss what happened at January Star Wars! He says he is not surprised Gary Hart and his goons tried to disrupt his homecoming, but says he is not deterred and promises the fans he will get revenge for trying to upset what should have been a proud moment for all of Texas and pro wrestling around the country! Mercer asks David what sort of impact he intends to make upon his return to World Class, and David answers bluntly. ”I’m back to take back what’s mine. And that will always be the NWA Texas Heavyweight championship. So, Gino Hernandez, you stupid halfbrained halfbreed, you wanna stick your nose in my business again? You think you got the guts to put your title on the line? Because I’m here to make sure you say goodbye to your precious title belt, whether you like it or not! And soon enough, the great state of Texas will have a champion to once again call their own!” David Von Erich versus Terry Gordy In a storytelling bout that had great heat and decent wrestling, David Von Erich defeated Terry Gordy in 16:52 by submission with the Iron Claw. One would expect Gordy to make a strong opponent for David’s return match to World Class television, but it was clear the two did not click whatsoever in the ring, and it made for an awkward bout. It was disappointing to see, but David’s overness with the fans was enough to carry this match on and still had great heat. Copyright 1985, Southwest Sports, Inc. </blockquote>
