4.
Region First Look: USA, Part 2

Known Promotions

Known Promotions contain stable fanbases locally, and some notoriety regionally. They're not likely to get on Television, but many provide good homes for workers and can reasonably turn a profit.

RIPW

SWF's long-time developmental territory, RIPW, was once one of the more dynamic promotions in the midwest. Since, it has become a feeder league for SWF Talents. Many of these aren't of the same polish as former independent stars are, but there are still several notable stars on the roster. Jean Cattley has also brought in former MAW Talents, and the promotion acts as another pipeline for SWF Talents.

Changes: Several former RIPW Stars have either left the territory or have moved on from the SWF System. Ratzloff after not making the main roster has moved on to RAW. Deever Arnold and Rocky Weatherfield have made their way to the main roster, and Warwick Good has managed to pout his way out of the company.

Two major additions have come to the roster. First, Aztec Prince has made his way over to RIPW from CILL, and DeMarcus & Gray have taken their tag talents to SWF -- with Lisa Bowen.

Major Stars: 4x RIPW Champion Hellion is a major star, and many have high hopes for him -- though some wonder if SWF has gotten cold feet, keeping him in development for so long. Whole Lotta Marvin has become a breakout star for the company, and will likely make the main roster soon. Marty Simmons and Stevie Stanley lead the tag division, holding the belts for the third time overall, and many think they will be called up soon.

GSW

Run from Brother Grimm's warehouse, GSW is one of the hottest independent wrestling tickets on The West Coast. The promotion focuses heavily on hardcore deathmatches, with brutal stips and a style that wows the crowd and batters the combatants. Unlike PSW and IPW, GSW works in more high-spot matches, many centering on the GSW West Coast Title.

Changes: GSW has experienced much turnover, both from talent being poached and from talent trades. This, along with the acquisition of Remmy Skye, has led them to focus more on smaller, exciting talents. The Long Beach Crew moved to PSW, bringing in return Devil May Care, who have had great matches with tag teams Fantastic Danger [Kid Fantastic & Lucas Danger] and the Blood Soldiers [Deathwish & Zombie Boy]. Phobia has become a notable acquisition for the promotion and has put on some terrific bouts.

Death Touch [uSPW] and Fro Sure [CWA] both have left the company, along with BB Colossus and Boneyard. Mexico's Finest was traded to FCW, and smaller stars like Omar and Devyn Retribution left after becoming stale.

Major Stars: Raheem Stash probably remains the most over star in the company, and he's currently holding the GSW American Title. Hard-1 and Busta Capp are the other two "name" stars still in the company, but Magwitch has significantly moved towards the main event. Dead Men Walking probably are the most over tag team in the company -- but Blood Soldiers have received quite the push, with two tag runs in the last year. Remmy Skye is the biggest new acquisition, and enjoyed a dynamite run with GSW West Coast Title in 2020.

Kanzen

Product: Kanzen was founded as the spiritual successor to ACPW after the company split into three -- the official successor, QPW, focuses more on traditional athletes. Deadalus Buchinsky has used the grant from the Hawaiian government to bring along some of his favorite talent -- and many high-flying workers with significant work in established companies have joined, along with many former ACPW stars.

Roster: Many will recognize the former ACPW and 4C talents on the roster. Jason "Too Hot" Evans, The Ant & The Gopher, Jamie Atherton and Hudson Drake will be familiar to Canadian fans. What many will notice are the new American talents on the roster -- additions like Cheetah Boy, the first Kanzen Champion, and former IPW Talents Barnaby & Rudge, who hold the tag straps. Buchinsky has used his position in Hawaii to attract Australian and Japanese talents, who contribute heavily to the high work rate and match quality the promotion puts on consistently.

 8. Friday, February 18, 2020 10,000 fans present in Tokyo, Japan Winner gets PGHW International Title Shot: Eien Miyamoto vs. Tetsunori Yasuda The match starts with a test of strength. Miyamoto clearly has the size advantage, and it shows, when he pushes Yasuda back to the ropes. "The Blood Fighter" refuses to back down. Miyamoto charges, but Yasuda slams his right leg into his opponents shin. Miyamoto stumbles from the ring, onto the mat below! Yasuda takes the upper hand -- he has all the momentum. Ambushing Miyamoto upon his ring return, Yasuda lays into him with several stiff kicks, before throwing him to the ropes -- that's a lariat on the return! Encore, Yasuda hits another lariat to Miyamoto! Yasuda continues to work over Miyamoto in an attempt to out-strike him. He's working over the head, much like a boxer, with strong knees and strikes. He eventually gets Miyamoto into the double underhooks -- aiming for a strong knee, and attempts to pull him up. Miyamoto reverses it! He's taken control in the clinch! Miyamoto pulls him up -- release powerbomb into the top turnbuckle! Miyamoto hits a knee, another knee, rolls over -- he pulls Yasuda into the STF! Yasuda is taken off guard, unprepared! He's close to the ropes -- but he can't reach them! "The Blood Fighter" is forced to tap! Eien Miyamoto d. Tetsunori Yasuda by submission with the STF! Eien Miyamoto wins a PGHW International Title Shot!

Reaver sits in the backstage area. He’s sweating. His knees wobble and fingers shake in anticipation. There’s a knock. Reaver signals that the interloper come in, the PGHW Glory Crown Champion enters. Seiji Jimbo says that the doctors have concluded that the champion isn’t in condition to fight. Reaver perks up, excited. He states that means he’ll get a title match, right? Seiji responds no, because of his stature in the industry, they were willing to clear Seiji Jimbo anyway. Reaver feels like this has been a waste of his time, asks why just now the champion has learned this. Seiji says this is news to him too.

PGHW Historical Japan Title Match: Magnum Kobe © vs. Brute Kikuchi The two opponents shake hands, signifying a fair fight. Brute Kikuchi charges at Magnum Kobe -- going for a Lariat, but Magnum Kobe slides through. Having scouted Magnum Kobe, the announcers speculate Kikuchi notices that his much smaller opponent has been dominant -- they speculate that Brute wants to throw everything in a attempt to overwhelm Magnum. Brute starts with a hit-and-miss offense. He's wearing down his smaller opponent, but Magnum wisely controls the pace. He connects with a Lariat -- knocking Magnum to the ground! Brute has gotten in all the offense so far... but Magnum backflips, ducks under a Lariat, grabs onto the ropes. Kikuchi lunges -- Magnum hits him with a springboard cutter! Magnum Kobe ties him up in the ropes. Referee threatens the DQ -- Kobe eases off -- and sends Kikuchi out with a baseball slide! Kikuchi is on the floor! Kobe pulls himself to the top rope -- slingshot senton to the outside! He pulls himself up on the barricade -- Springboard Moonsault! The referee begins to count out both wrestlers. Magnum quickly rolls into the ring. Kikuchi, demoralized and hurt, barely manages to make it into the ring -- Kobe unleashes a flurry of kicks to Kikuchi's forehead! Blood seeps onto the mat! Now firmly in control, Kobe seems content to toy with his much bigger opponent. He pulls Kikuchi to the ringpost, slumps him against the ringpost -- Superkick! Blood seeps down Brute Kikuchi's face, a crimson mask! He falls onto the mat. Kobe pulls himself onto the ring post -- Kobe Bomb [Diving Meteora] to Kikuchi! Magnum slumps over Brute Kikuchi and makes the cover... 1... 2... 3! Magnum Kobe retains! Magnum Kobe d. Brute Kikuchi by pinfall after a Kobe Bomb! Magnum makes defense #1 of the PGHW Historical Japan Title!

We cut backstage to the challenger. Kouzue Kawashima says that Jimbo not only is beat up, but he’s a coward for continuing to duck him. Kawashima says that the champion entered the PGHW Elite Series so he could avoid facing him – he already has the PGHW Glory Crown, what did Jimbo have to gain defending his Elite Series title? Kozue Kawashima states Seiji Jimbo knows he will lose, hence why the PGHW Glory Crown Champion has been playing up his injury issues -- that's why, Seiji wants to hold on to the championship! The challenger says the fans now support him – he’s made his case, and he won’t make excuses – unlike Seiji Jimbo.

Tag Team Showcase: Busso Makiguchi & Chojiro Kitoaji vs. Dean Waldorf & Marv Statler Dean Waldorf and Busso Makiguchi start out as the legal men. The two engage in a quick, but slick, opening exchange. Makiguchi manages to get the upper hand, working over Dean Waldorf – Waldorf uses his muscle to overpower Makiguchi and even things up. Makiguchi sends Waldorf to the corner, tags in Miyamoto – who hits a slinghot DDT to Waldorf! Both teammates lay into Deadly Dean for several seconds before Kitoaji takes control. He lays into Waldorf – beating him down with hard strikes, before sending him to the corner. Kitoaji charges, but Marv has made the tag! He headbutts Chojiro! Once! Twice! Kitoaji has the early advantage, but the numbers game wears him down. After Waldorf returns to ringside, Chojiro tags in Makiguchi. The two get in a few double team moves. Marv clearly at this point is reeling, struggling to get in his partner for the hot tag. Eventually, Makiguchi and Marv get to go at it one on one. Makiguchi picks up Marv with the double overhooks, Marv reverses it with a Russian Legsweep! Makiguchi rolls to his feet – Marv lands a dropkick! Makiguchi goes flying into the enemy corner! Tag to Dean – Makiguchi is in the Tree of Woe position! For several seconds, both partners work over Makiguchi’s legs. Eventually, the referee breaks it up. The announcers explain since Makiguchi was not tied in the ropes, the head official Shihei Nagano had to wait for the corner break to re-start the match. Match re-start. Dean Waldorf gets the jump on Makiguchi. He puts him in a side headlock – Makiguchi manages to reverse it. A struggle for position ensues. Waldorf throws Makiguchi over with a back body drop! Makiguchi is the enemy corner! Waldorf tags in Statler – the two pull up Makiguchi and hit the Wheelbarrow Bomb [Assisted Powerbomb]! Waldorf goes for the cover – 1 – 2! No, there’s a kick out at 2! Statler rolls up Makiguchi! 1…2…3! There’s a quick charge to the ring, some confusion, but Kitoaji knows what happened. Since Waldorf made the tag for a double team move, he was the legal man for the first pinfall, but not after he left the ring – Statler was the legal man. The announcers note this should’ve been clear to Makiguchi, but state that this was definitely unsportsmanlike behavior from Waldorf & Statler. Dean Waldorf & Marv Statler d. Busso Makiguchi & Chojiro Kitoaji when Statler rolled up Makiguchi with a flash pin! PGHW Glory Crown Title Match: Seiji Jimbo [Champion] vs. Kozue Kawashima [Challenger] Kawashima has an elaborate entrance. Pink streamers fall down from the ceiling, as both Kawashima and Maruya dance down to the ring, Kawashima in a pink jumpsuit, his partner in an elaborate pink, victorian dress. Kawshima places his partner on the announce table before rolling into the ring. He leads the recalcitrant crowd chanting the chorus, with most fans eventually joining in along with Maruya. Seiji Jimbo comes out. Blue smoke fills the entrance way. He holds the title up high, and begins to walk down to the ring. There’s a bandage above his left eye, trying to patch a much larger wound than it was designed for. Jimbo has a slight but visible limp, which contributes to his pedestrian pace down the ring. The referee starts the match. It’s clear from the very beginning that Seiji Jimbo isn’t in condition to compete. He moves slowly, and when Jimbo locks up with the challenger, looks tentative. Kawashima pushes Jimbo back, and Jimbo rolls under the bottom rope. He needs to regroup. As the referee begins counting, Jimbo waits seven, and then eight, seconds before rolling back in. Kawashima begins to work him over. He moves slowly, strikes with forearm strikes, leg kicks and knee strikes. With each strike, Jimbo looks weaker and weaker. His limp more pronounced, each step visibly painful. Jimbo rolls out of the ring again, taking the time to catch his breath. Kawashima goes for a tope to the outside – the champion dodges it at the last second! Kawashima slams into the barrier! Both the Champion and the Challenger began to make their way into the ring about the same time. Seiji Jimbo, seeing the advantage, lunges at the Challenger, who leapfrogs him – and pulls Jimbo into a sleeper hold! Seiji is caught in the center of the ring, and he’s in serious trouble! This goes on for a few minutes, both competitors desperately struggling for position, before Seiji Jimbo manages to reverse the move into the Ace Crusher! Both men are down in the center ring! The exhausted champion attempts to get to his feet. The challenger, dazed, quickly gains his bearings. Kozue Kawashima gets to his feet first! The two lock up, the challenger strikes the champion with a brutal elbow to the head! Kawashima slams Jimbo with another elbow strike, and blood seeps onto the mat! The challenger works over the hurt leg, for several seconds, with stiff strikes and elbows! The champion has been busted wide open! Kozue Kawashima hooks Seiji’s hurt leg, pulls him up into the Fireman’s Carry stretch. The Champion makes a desperate struggle for position, attempting to reverse it – Kawashima wrenches the Champion with his forearms and slams Seiji Jimbo into the mat with the Kawashima Driver 2005 [Death Valley Driver]! Kawashima covers… 1… 2… 3! We have a new PGHW Glory Crown Champion! Both competitors shake hands, and the referee hands the belt to Kawashima. We see a brief picture of both competitors celebrating before the broadcast fades out. Kozue Kawashima d. Seiji Jimbo by pinfall after a Kawashima Driver 2005! Kozue Kawashima wins the PGHW Glory Crown for the 4th Time!

 16. Region First Look: USA, Part 1 Unknown Promotions Unknown promotions are local affairs -- outside a given region, these promotions have little following, and their workers usually have their first "real gig" in the business. Most act in their current incarnation to provide experience for rookie wrestlers -- essentially, a way for veterans to give "back to the business"-- and not a legitimate business venture. However, given their position and roster, these small promotions have a lot of potential. PWMAX The newest and probably smallest promotion in the USA, PWMAX runs on the ashes left by AAA -- they may run out of Portland, but their roots are still in Seattle. Started by Damian "The Natural" Carvill, and booked by his wife Catherine Quine, the promotion primarily provides the training for their two children: Joanne "The Cat" Quine and Damian "The Natural" Carvill, Jr. -- both rookies who began training with their parents after graduating High School. Product: Like many new Puro-inspired "indie" promotions, PWMAX has both a mens and womens division. They also incorporate some "sports entertainment aspects", too -- an ideal environment for a wrestler to develop. Major Stars: Former CGC Standout Alan Parent starts as their most over star. "Parental Abuse", as those on the independent scene call him, has a heavily Japanese-inspired style -- largely from watching Hooded Kudo on old Burning Hammer bootlegs. "The Iron Enforcer" Preston Fuller, Lithuania's most famous wrestling son, would probably be the top heel in the promotion -- one of many Canadian talents on the roster. Young stud Wild Red Stallion is a rising star in the promotion, and many have high hopes for him -- PWMAX may not be large enough for such a vibrant young talent. OCW Outlaw Championship Wrestling was the career long dream for professional wrestling referee Johnathon Taylor. For Taylor, this was a passion project worth giving up guaranteed money doing mat work for a major company. As for the name, Outlaws manager and SCCW alum Herb Staley heads the broadcast for the promotion. The promotion brands itself the spiritual successor to SCCW -- and the roster represents this -- though the characters are more "Texas" than "Tennessee". Product: The promotion itself runs old school down to the bone -- it presents a style and presentation similar to those seen in Texas Wrestling League and Southern Class Championship Wrestling. Brawls are bloody, matches are worked stiffer than the drinks from concessions, and promos are loud and involve shouting. Roster: Jack Griffith unapologetically is the centerpiece for the promotion. Brady Prince, who spent forever waiting for a well-deserved second opportunity, features heavily on their programming. But the biggest reaction almost always greets Manny "El Loco" Alvarez, whose intensity and character work have really captured the crowd's ire -- helped by his valet, Ms. Mya Catalan. WPL Founded by former MMA, INSPIRE and FCW Star Billy Russell, WPL was created from several independent groups working within Latino communities in the region. Wanting to bring wrestling to Latino kids in the inner city, Chicago specifically, Russell crafted his product to have a broad appeal as possible, but remain unique. For the roster, Russell scouted mostly local younger talents with limited experience in the business -- one presumes so the audience could "grow old" with them. Product: WPL matches to combine the intensity found in territories with the showmanship and characters from Lucha Libre -- the two most over styles in the area. There's a definite emphasis on factions, characters and slick tag team work -- much like FCW, where Billy Russell used to work. Roster: While many of the workers are younger unknowns, fans will recognize a few stalwarts. Hector Galindo and Rudy Velasquez are the top team in the territory, and often get a heroes welcome due to their work in DAVE and FCW. Many will recognize Ace Youngblood from his time with MAW, and he brings a solid veteran presence. Sal DeMio has become a quick hit with the company, and many fans are impressed by his pairing with Venus Angeletti -- his stable, The DiMeo Family, is the primary Heel force in the company.

A victory here could position the winner for a shot at the Television Title.

John Blackfyre vs Chris Flynn

Tale of the Tape: The enigmatic and waifish John Blackfyre made his striking return to TCW on Sunday when he cost Wolf Hawkins his shot at the World Title. Perhaps tellingly, his first match back will see him go up against a member of Wolf's Syndicate stable.

Jackson Laine vs Joshua Taylor

Tale of the Tape: Taylor has looked more like his old self in recent weeks, in personality if not in form, by shunning the under-handed tactics and returning to what he does best - wrestling. Laine recorded a big singles win over Maverick at The War and will be looking to carry this momentum forward.

 24.
Alright, I've been moving forward with the database creation. I still am not to the point where i'll have a time for a BETA -- but here are some of the major changes:

Reverie has bought out two companies: PGHW and OLLIE. These two companies [owned by local "reverie" branches] have been switched to make "content" for the channel -- running mainly off name value to bring in viewers.

These companies are designed for the "Episodic" products -- essentially, companies will run seasons where they book multiple shows at once.

OLLIE has been in a tailspin for years, so this isn't a "surprise" per se. As for PGHW, they're the victim of both struggling financials and a worker strike/walk-out.

TIER-1 is the "spiritual successor" to PGHW. I want them to be a "touring" company, but I'll have to set up the schedule somewhat manually so they can still have 1 vs. 1 MMA-lite PPV matches. Several younger workers have left PGHW -- notably Jimbo and Ugaki -- to work in TIER 1.

Black Canvas Grappling has essentially taken the place PGHW had in Japan. They've only got a couple former PGHW workers -- they're sort of a "super-indie" at this point. There are also several notable gaijin talents on the roster.

I plan on having two re-brands. First, ACPW will "evolve" into QCW -- taking most of the belts with them. ACPW in its "current form" still exists as KANZEN in Hawaii.

The second re-brand will be TCW. I plan on making them "Texas Championship Wrestling" -- somewhat borrowing from the old TWL and a bit from SCCW.

USPW and CWA's "war" will be the major focus for the mod. The two companies are facing off both in Canada and in India -- but USPW starts with a clear advantage.

Both USPW and CWA have "developmental companies", both in India. USPW's relationship is much closer with DSPW than CWA is with MGPW, but the two both employ mostly developmental workers.

A few more Indian workers have been added to supplement the rosters, and a few more will be set to debut later -- these are "Indian stars" who have been on the scene for a long time, and will start fairly over.

A couple workers will also be set to debut in the future in India, most graduating from Mumbai Wrestling Academy.

I've also began using the touring system, enhancement talent and the excursion system more -- many smaller companies will start with a worker on excursion, and there will be some available in each region.

Finally, I've made some use of what I call "ghost tag teams" -- pairings that won the tag team titles in a company but aren't in the database as Teams. I try not to abuse this too much, but these should be noted.
