  1. Thanks, Trevor! And I'm gonna try my best to catch up with your diary and get back in the prediction game in the next couple days.
  2. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Element" data-cite="Element" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="51515" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Great first ppv ink!</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Thanks, Element! I was really satisfied with how it turned out considering I didn't have to blow any of my "money" matches like Sting vs. Flair or The Steiners vs. Doom.</p>
  3. <hr> Prediction contest standings after SuperBrawl: Element - 19 points Trevor Belmont- 19 points angeldelayette - 18 points Satyr24 - 18 points Jaysin - 17 points Munit - 15 points Gorilla Monsoon - 14 points joshbrady91 - 13 points ReggieLove - 12 points The_Monk - 12 points Stannis1 - 5 points bonnie - 1 point KnowYourEnemy - 1 point Several predictors correctly guessed the winner in 12 out of 13 matches with most of the misses being in either the Luger vs. Sid match or one of the matches relating to the Television title. And even though the winners of some of these matches were pretty obvious, that's not easy to do, so congratulations! Reminder that this round of the prediction contest will run through Clash of the Champions in March, so there's ample opportunity to gain ground if you're behind or miss a couple shows. Thanks so much to everyone for reading, predicting and commenting!
  4. I like the cut of your jib! Sid's one of my all-time favorites! DIARY UPDATE: Okay, so as is prone to happen with one's hobbies, real life has gotten in the way quite a bit recently and I just didn't have as much time to devote to the diary as I would've liked last week. The good news is, I've had a little more time this week and so Superbrawl will be going up on Friday. I know I said when I started this diary that I wasn't going to bump it just to update if I was running a bit behind "schedule". However, I was way more than a bit behind here, as Friday will be 12 days from the day I posted the predictions card for Superbrawl. I can't guarantee that something like this won't happen again, you know real life and all, but my desired turnaround time between posting the PPV predictions card and the PPV itself is more like 3 to 5 days. So you should mostly expect that going forward.
  5. Gigante was definitely an attraction, but I'm not sure what if anything I'll do with him long-term. Thanks for predicting again, Satyr24! Sid is in my top 5 of all-time. That may sound silly to some, but he just had "It" in my opinion. Thanks for predicting again, Element! LOL, I remember that from my WWF diary. Yep. With no world champion 'til June, so therefore no clear main event for the show, and some of my better guys still needing to be built up, I had to go with quantity over quality a bit. Otherwise I would've had to blow all my best matchups on the first PPV. This is a perfect example of what I meant above. With no world champion, I really felt I had to get all my titles on the show. And since I was a little light on mid-card tag teams on the heel side, I had to throw Sullivan and Spivey together. Thanks again for your in-depth predictions, angeldelayette! That was definitely something I considered when deciding on a winner in this one. Definitely! Vader's one of my all-time favorites. Shame how little he accomplished in the WWF. Thanks for reading and predicting again, Gorilla! Thanks, The_Monk! Man, Jake would have made a great manager! Yeah, I considered leaving it off but ultimately decided it was worth it for the extra challenge. Thanks for reading, The_Monk! I kinda just threw them together to give the Steiners an opponent for the PPV, but I think there's some potential there too! Good thought on Zbyszko as a future target of Austin! Yeah, I really feel like WCW could've done more with it. Thanks for predicting, The_Monk! Thanks for predicting again, Josh!

  7. Top 5 In-ring Performances for this month's television programming: Ricky Steamboat - 96 vs. Buddy Landel - January 12th episode of WCW Saturday Night Stan Hansen - 91 vs. El Gigante - January 26th episode of WCW Saturday Night Ric Flair - 88 vs. Rick Steiner - January 19th episode of WCW Saturday Night Stan Hansen - 88 vs. Ron Garvin - January 12th episode of WCW Saturday Night Arn Anderson - 77 vs. Ricky Morton - January 26th episode of WCW Saturday Night Chemistry discoveries for the month: - Michael Wallstreet and Mr. Hughes have absolutely zero chemistry as partners. - Mr. Hughes and Alexandra York are a good pairing who play well off each other. - Ricky Morton and Jeff Jarrett showed excellent chemistry as a team. - Ric Flair and Rick Steiner showed absolutely no chemistry as opponents. - Brian Pillman and Michael Hayes just don't click at all as opponents. New protege relationships for the month: - Larry Zbyszko has taken Joey Maggs under his wing as a protege. Worker comments/promises for the month: - Scott Steiner says The Italian Stallion is a waste of time. - Stan Hansen says Madusa is pretty good in the ring and that I should "push the kid." - Sting thinks Sid Vicious has a bright future and he's willing to put him over to help get him to the next level. He'll only do it once though and it has to be in the next two months. - Ricky Steamboat says Brad Armstrong is turning into a good worker that's worth getting behind. - Harley Race likes what he's hearing from Diamond Dallas Page and says there's money in his promos if given air time. Other notes for the month: - I always thought Barry Windham was an odd fit for the Horsemen, so I wanted to replace him right away. Enter Tully Blanchard. - I didn't plan on bringing in The Hardliners so early, but losing The State Patrol with Parker going to AJPW forced my hand. - I figured Steamboat and Landel would pull a pretty good score for the main event of the January 12th episode of Saturday Night, but 89? WOW!! - I was also surprised by the Stan Hansen vs. Ron Garvin match from that same show since I got a warning that Garvin couldn't even go the 8 minutes I booked it for. - I don't really like to have TV titles defended on PPV, but WCW did it in real life and with no world champion until June, I'm gonna use it as my secondary singles title for now. After that I'm not sure. - 71 for The Hardliners versus the Guerrero jobbers on the January 27th Main Event show? I'd almost be satisfied with that score for a WCW Saturday Night main event!
  8. Thanks for predicting again, Munit! Not a problem, Jaysin! At least not on the prediction contest front. With over a dozen matches on the card for the upcoming Superbrawl PPV, you could be predicting for the first time in the diary and end up in first place by a wide margin. Thanks for predicting again, Gorilla! A guy like Hansen by pinfall? Probably not, but matches can end in other ways. Thanks, Stannis! And thanks for predicting again! Aren't you forgetting something, Trevor? Really enjoying your super specific predictions and thoughts, Reggie! Thanks for predicting again, Element! Thanks for joining in, Josh! I appreciate your readership! Thanks for predicting again, Satyr24! Haven't decided just yet, but it's a good problem to have as far as I'm concerned! Thanks, bonnie! Happy to have your readership!
  9. Some really good promos in your first show, Trevor! Writing promos was my favorite part of the '91 WWF diary I did for TEW 2016. Doing them for Savage and Warrior in particular was great fun. Anyway, let's give this prediction thing a shot: Haku Vs. The Big Bossman Crush Vs. Shawn Michaels Power & Glory Vs. The Hart Foundation © "The Demon Of Death Valley" The Undertaker Vs. Tugboat The Mountie Vs. "The Birdman" KoKo B. Ware "Rowdy" Roddy Piper Vs. Mr. Perfect © "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase Vs. "The Texas Tornado" Kerry Von Erich "Macho King" Randy Savage and "Iraqi Turncoat" Sgt. Slaughter Vs. "The Immortal" Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior
  10. Thanks, Reggie! I havent' had any trouble out of Landel so far, and he's definitely underrated in my opinion. He didn't have the best look, but other than that he was great. I saw him in person several times for SMW events at one of the local high schools and he never failed to entertain. WCW Saturday Night January, Week 4 Predictions Card: Stan Hansen vs. El Gigante Ricky Morton w/Jeff Jarrett vs. Arn Anderson w/ Tully Blanchard Ron Simmons w/ Butch Reed & Teddy Long vs. Steve Armstrong w/ Tracy Smothers

  12. Glad to have you back this episode, Element! You think so? Thanks for predicting again, Satyr24! Thanks for predicting again, Trevor! I'll be checking your diary out later this evening when I'm back from running some errands. Thanks for joining in, Reggie! I appreciate your readership! Absolutely!
  13. Thanks, Munit! Yeah, even with the restrictions I've placed on myself there are literal tons of great guys to sign and push. Spivey was awesome as Waylon Mercy in 1995 for the WWF. That character had a TON of potential. Thanks, Jaysin! No problem, Element. There will be plenty points available before this round of the prediction contest is over. 15. Yup, heel Steamboat! It was basically what inspired the entire diary. I've been meaning to, but just haven't had the time yet. I hope to get around to giving it a look in the next few days.
  16. Here's the thing though, other than the third list of exemptions, the only point of view taken into account is what Ted Turner's hypothetically would have been on January 1st, 1991. From his point of view, Bigelow had just left WCW after a second mediocre four month run in less than 2 years, both of which had paled in comparison to his WWF run a few years before that. Therefore, in this hypothetical scenario, I just think Turner would have considered Bigelow to be one of "Vince's guys" since Vince had accomplished more with him in one try than WCW had in two. However, I could definitely see the argument that since Bigelow had been in WCW twice since the last time he was in the WWF, and Turner's got new guys running the show, that he would want to take another crack at someone as talented as Bigelow. It's all just so subjective. Thanks for predicting! You should definitely check out my 1991 WWF diary then! http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=543879
  17. Thanks, Stannis! And I appreciate you reading and predicting! Thanks for reading and predicting, KnowYourEnemy! Thanks! As far as Windham goes, I don't know, maybe "odd fit" wasn't the best choice of words. He's certainly got the skills for it, I do know that much. But I guess I really just prefer him as a face and think he works better in the down to earth, hard-working, Texan role. And yes, he's definitely a face now, which admittedly also played into the decision, since I'm a little light on depth on the face side at the moment. I plan on fixing that fairly soon, but I didn't want to bring in tons of guys right off the bat. Yeah, I'll probably hang onto him as a job guy for a while, since he's got a few decent skills he could pass on to someone on the way up. Well I guess I can let the cat out of the bag now, but yeah I was definitely bringing back the Express. One of the best teams of all-time! As far as the money goes, it likely wouldn't have been any kind of long-term detriment to the company, but I don't wanna start down that path or I'll have a roster of 200 by May '91. Eh, it's just one of those "regime change" things, where I decided to ignore the recent past to do something I preferred. I'm definitely gonna do something with Rich, but I'm not 100% sure what just yet. Although I do have a few ideas. It's just the opposite, I really appreciate all the comments! The more the merrier! Unfortunately you're right, his loyalty to AJPW will require me to be very careful with how or how much I push him. They aren't exactly taking it easy on guys over there. Thanks for predicting again! Thanks for reading and predicting again, Jaysin! You and Element have been very consistent in commenting on my past few diaries and I sincerely appreciate it! Thanks for joining in on the predictions, Munit!

  20. For sure, but they may be a ways away. I'm certainly gonna sign some guys and use them right away, but I'm not gonna replace the entire roster in 3 or 4 months either. Although it is very tempting because that's a fairly top-heavy roster in that third post above. While there's definitely no shortage of great workers available for me to sign, so many of them aren't really a "fit" for WCW and many others need a lot of work from where they are when the save starts, so it's gonna be tricky for sure. Yeah, it's crazy how often they used that ending, but I thought it worked well for the more "sports-based" feel they were going for at the time. Thanks for reading and predicting, angeldelayette! Hope you'll follow along! Thanks for predicting Gorilla Monsoon! Hope you'll follow along! Important Note: Okay, so I intended to start posting shows in this diary this week, but in my haste to get started I overlooked a bit of an issue with the mod I'm using and fixing it has got me a few days behind. So the first show will now be posted Monday, assuming no more mod problems arise. I apologize for a delay right off the bat, but better I found the problem now than 2 or 3 months into the save.
  21. Thanks, Trevor! I had a really good time writing a 1991 WWF dynasty for TEW 2016 and I expect you will too. With the right free agent signings you could easily assemble one of the best rosters in wrestling history. Thanks for your predictions and good luck with your diary! Thanks for giving this one a look, Jaysin! Hopefully I can make it worth your while. Thanks, Historian! And don't worry, Battle Bowl is one of my all-time favorite wrestling events so it will be done justice! Hopefully! Thanks for predicting, Element! I don't really disagree with anything you said in principle, and yes, I think you could easily justify taking quite a few workers off my exempt lists. However, I put a lot of thought into who should or shouldn't be "eligible" to be hired, and decided that if I wasn't going to be really strict, then there didn't seem to be much point in having any restrictions at all. Which I understand is an entirely different conversation in and of itself. Well, the third section is really it's own thing that has nothing to do with who they did or didn't work for and when. Like I mentioned in the opening post, it was kinda just tacked on at the last second for a bit of an added challenge. Anyway, I do appreciate the feedback and thanks for checking out my diary!
  22. Thanks, Munit! I just hope I can do it justice. I rarely missed WCW growing up, but generally preferred the WWF, so I'll have to do a bit more research than usual for this one to ring true. Thanks, Texasrangers13! I really wanted to try something different to mix things up a bit and it's definitely gonna be a bit tricky. But there's still so many great workers I can sign that I should never be short on talent even without the WWF guys. Thanks, Element! Glad to have you back! 24. Other Diary Info and Show Index MOD 1991 Peaking Tides by Jamhead - THANKS Jamhead! User Character Ric Flair TV Initial Event Schedule Diary Show Posting Schedule Shows will only be posted on weekdays between 11 am and 6 pm EST. No shows will ever be posted outside those time frames, so if it's a potential posting day and it's past 6 pm EST with no new show posted, then you can be sure that nothing will be posted until at least the next weekday. This keeps me from having to give constant updates about potential posting times on the occasions where I've fallen behind, and prevents other diaries with actual show updates from being "bumped" down from the top of the board unnecessarily. I will sometimes post other stuff outside of these scheduled hours though, such as feedback requests and prediction contest related info.
  25. So first things first, I want to make it clear that I know this scenario is a bit ridiculous. It makes no sense from a business standpoint to refuse to employ people who can help your company improve and grow. Especially if those are your exact goals. But I was looking for a way to shake things up a bit and this is what I settled on. So you're probably wondering what qualifies someone as a McMahon guy, or "Titan", for the purposes of this diary? Well that's actually really simple, if not a mouthful to explain. A worker will be considered a McMahon guy, or "Titan", if they meet one of the following three criteria: 1.) They're employed by the WWF when the save starts on January 1st, 1991. A few examples of workers who fit this criterion are Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker. Please click "spoiler" for a complete list of workers who meet this condition. <details> <summary>SPOILER</summary> Wrestlers Animal (LOD) Big Bossman Boris Zhukov Bret Hart Brian Knobbs (Nasty Boys) Brooklyn Brawler Brutus Beefcake Bushwhacker Butch Bushwhacker Luke Crush (Demolition) Dino Bravo Earthquake General Adnan Greg Valentine Haku Hawk (LOD) Hercules Hulk Hogan Jake Roberts Jerry Sags (Nasty Boys) Jim Duggan Jim Neidhart Jim Powers Jimmy Snuka Kato (Paul Diamond) Koko B. They're a free agent or otherwise available to sign, but were most known for their time in the WWF prior to the diary start date of January 1st, 1991. A few examples of workers who fit this criterion are King Kong Bundy, The Iron Sheik, Andre The Giant and The Honky Tonk Man. Please click "spoiler" for a complete list of workers who meet this condition. <details> <summary>SPOILER</summary> Wrestlers Andre The Giant B. Brian Blair (Killer Bees) Bad News Brown Bam Bam Bigelow Big John Studd Bill Eadie (Ax of Demolition) Billy Jack Haynes Blackjack Mulligan Bob Backlund Bob Orton Jr. David Sammartino Don Muraco Dynamite Kid Hillbilly Jim Honky Tonk Man Iron Mike Sharpe Ivan Putski Jim Brunzell (Killer Bees) Judy Martin Kamala Ken Patera King Kong Bundy Leilani Kai Miss Elizabeth Moondog King Moondog Spot Mr. T One Man Gang (Akeem) Owen Hart Paul Orndorff Rick Rude Rockin Robin Rocky Johnson S.D. This final criterion isn't realistic at all, since Ted Turner can't predict the future and therefore workers who meet the first two criteria would be the only workers in 1991 that would be "WWF" guys to him. However, this one was added purely for an additional challenge were I to make it far enough into the future for most of these guys to debut. Anyway, onto the third and final criterion: - Male wrestlers, whether active at save start or yet to debut, who fit neither of the first two criteria, but who would go on to hold at least 2 WWF/E World, World Heavyweight(Big Gold Belt) or Universal Championships. - Female wrestlers, whether active at save start or yet to debut, who fit neither of the first two criteria, but who would go on to hold at least 2 WWF/E Divas, Women's, Raw Women's or Smackdown Women's Championships. *****Workers who worked for WCW before working for the WWF will be exempt from this criterion, e.g., Steve Austin and Triple H. Also, prior work as a jobber is not considered for this criterion, which allows for both Mick Foley's exclusion from the list, and Edge's inclusion on it, for a couple examples.***** Please click "spoiler" to see a full list of workers who fit this criterion. <details> <summary>SPOILER</summary> AJ Lee Alberto Del Rio Alexa Bliss Asuka Batista Bayley Becky Lynch Beth Phoenix Bray Wyatt Brock Lesnar Charlotte Christian CM Punk Daniel Bryan Edge Eve Torres Ivory Jacqueline Jazz Jeff Hardy John Cena Kane Kurt Angle Layla Lita Maryse Melina Michelle McCool Mickie James The Miz Naomi Natalya Nikki Bella Paige Randy Orton The Rock Roman Reigns Sasha Banks Seth Rollins Sheamus Trish Stratus Victoria Yokozuna </details> My goal with these restrictions is threefold: 1.) To make the game a bit more challenging. 2.) To force myself to use some different workers than I otherwise would, because without these restrictions there's little doubt that I would sign all the usual suspects away from the WWF at the first opportunity. And if I add Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Undertaker, Ted DiBiase, Jake Roberts, Mr. Perfect and Shawn Michaels to my WCW roster, then I might as well have just started a WWF save. 3.) To keep my roster size from getting out of control, which should directly increase the likelihood of this diary lasting longer than my 1991 WWF diary did on TEW 2016. Because what happened there was I burned myself out trying to manage a huge roster of all the great WWF guys I already had, and the absurd amount of WCW workers that I also signed. And that just led to a save that ended up being way more work than fun. And when a save is more work than fun I lose interest in a hurry, and that save and it's accompanying diary are out the window. I don't want that to happen here. <hr></hr>
