Wrestling is run like a sport and traditionally the mens and womens wrestling is kept separate.</span></p><p><span style="color:#4B0082;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#4B0082;"> And to be honest, traditionalists are often fairly chauvinistic as well. In sumo it's traditional for the governor where the tournament is being held to present the grand prize to the Champion in the ring. But sumo has an iron clad rule against women entering the sumo ring. So when the governor was a woman she was required to present the prize beside the ring. Some people in traditional puroresu have the same silly mindset.</span></p><p><span style="color:#4B0082;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#4B0082;"> In my mind PGHW is the most traditional promotion in Japan. Your PGHW may be different.</span><img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><span style="color:#4B0082;"> </span></p>

This is going to help me so much with my TEW game!</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#4B0082;">I'd say this relates to both foreign and natives. King Fale and Tama Tonga went through a period of losing as well. But wrestlers who are already established in the US won't count as young lions. </span></p>

Adding a joshi puroresu division is mostly related to how authentic you want to be. A serious big name company would never do it. On the other hand, the indy sleaze scene will cheerfully mix things up, even to the point of having matches with men against women. Most notably Kenny Omega's match against an 8 year old girl.</span></p><p><span style="color:#4B0082;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#4B0082;"> BHOTWG is suposed to be more American, I wonder if they'd go that far. PGHW just strikes me as the ultimate 'Puroresu is serious business' promotion.</span></p>
  4. <span style="color:#4B0082;">Endings are always tricky. Erased was awesome, right up to the underwhelming end. Still alot more plus than minor, but like in TEW, the main event at the end counts for alot.</span>
  5. NHK would also qualify as free to air, but I don't recall them doing any sports, so they'd be anti. NicoNico could be free to air but alot of the time all the Japanese indy promotions get out of it is publicity, they certainly aren't making money on the deal. So leaving it as the internet option for distribution in most cases is fine. Maybe NicoNico premium as subscription for the bigger companies. Stardom has a subscriber channel on Youtube and WAVE are opening their own video streaming department, so internet distribution does seem to be the next big thing, unless it crashes and burns.
  6. Or change BHOTWG to touring again and interpret BHOTWG's western move as them trying to expand into NA.
  7. Lavender or riot! Just kidding, the skin looks great!
  8. Or for cross fed fueds, Light vs Lelouch. Ranma vs Naruto. Alucard vs Vampire Hunter D.
  9. I'm watching Erased now. The first episode rocked me, can't wait to see where this goes.
  10. Konosuba was surprisingly good. My tolerance for comedy anime is generally fairly low, but this kept me entertained through all ten episodes. The animation is done on the cheap at times. Not poor art, but nothing moving but the lips for minor characters. But the main character is fun and he's surrounded by a very dysfunctional group of adventurers in a world that almost literally works like a role playing game. And they greenlit a second season so it must have done well.
  11. I had to look that up, I've never seen someone use the full name Product Appeal Definition. Needs Comedy, Modern, a little Risque (there is some nudity). You can really make a case for Mainstream as well due to the romantic soap opera elements. Some daredevil as well. No Pure, Realism, Hyper Realism, Hardcore, or Cult. I personally would say no lucha as well. Lucha is a well defined style in my mind that has nothing to do with the action in Ranma. So maybe: Key Feature: Modern, Comedy Heavy: Medium: Mainstream Low: Risque, Daredevil 50/50 or 60/40 on Match Ratio. Pretty much everyone in Ranma has a clearly defined gimmick, though I would turn off gimmick decay. The status quo pretty much never changes and character growth is glacial. Face/Heel divide is probably moderate. There are a few definite heels. The Principal, Kodachi, and Pantyhose Taro being examples. Most characters are more fluid, either being enemies or allies depending on what aspects of the web of relationships are being invoked in a particular adventure.
  12. I grew up on Ranma 1/2. There's also a decent Ranma 1/2 Wiki and endless clips on Youtube. I can answer basic questions when time allows.
  13. I'm kinda past my youthful enthusiasm for arguing the details of good and bad anime. I'd rather focus on the fun cool stuff and if someone else has a different set of fun cool stuff to watch that's just fine. Vaguely related to anime, I enjoyed the live action Death Note series. It was different enough from the manga/anime to be surprising, though they stretched the battle of wits in how many times someone could out-think the other. Ultimately I liked L and that's key to anything Death Note related for me. Things with Near don't hold up but I liked the character and actress. The movie idea of six Death Notes being unleashed on the world in a near future setting seems questionable though.
  14. Yeah, Honma's in serious trouble and deserves every bit of it.Depressing to find stuff like this is happening with someone I liked.
  15. Speaking of sin, I'm trying so hard to track down Garden of Sinners. No easy task. The complete collections seem to range from $350 to $750 at the moment.
  16. I'm finding it's interesting trying to create young joshi puroresu wrestlers in 2015. Invariably they fit two groups. 1. Lots of dropkicks, rollups and forearms. Lots and lots of forearms. 2. Lots of MMA style kicks. Not really creative or acrobatic kicks. Just kicks. And forearms. Almost as many forearms. It makes the rare wrestler who deviates from the mold that much more fun to watch. Statting most of them is dull. High stat: brawl. Maybe a little chain. High flying is not nearly as used as the current generation of joshi wrestlers as it used to be.
  17. Seems reasonable. You have to manage your time to get the best result. I'm curious, do people just kind of stat wrestlers on the fly or do they get an idea of what role the wrestler occupies and develop from there. I typically generally rank top row stats as far as 90-100 = One of the best of all time, 80-89 = one of the best in the world currently, etc etc. I've been trying ton combine the statistics threads with DErek's work. Then I get a picture of the wrestler in my head. For minor league brawler Yuiga I just have an image of a veteran brawler with average skills but solid basics, safety, etc to represent she's been around for a long time without working full time for anyone but various promotions find a use for her now and then wrestling younger wrestlers. A former star like Aja Kong is more complicated. She's no longer a main event title contender and tends to wrestler a little further down the card but she almost never jobs, so when it does happen it's a bigger deal.
  18. Old Russian saying "Perfect is the enemy of good enough." Not that I follow it, but it's good advice. WWE wise is it really that popular overseas at this point? It gets coverage in Japan but American wrestling has been covered in Japan going back to the 60's. If they run a show there they'll draw based on novelty but they can't challenge NJPW and probably not the tier 2 promotions unless they pour money into it. As far as I know Smackdown is a B show.
  19. I'm not sure I can fully go along with this for top row stats.. Taking the spreadsheet from 2010 that lists every single active wrestler in the C-Verse, the top 10% in brawling average out to 69% Aerial is 70%. Mat and Chain are 71%. So I find it hard to consider 66% to be average. I'm curious, where did you get 66% from? For other stats the top ten percent avetage is interesting. For basics it's 90%. Star Quality is 89%. But microphone is 74%. 80% for psychology, with the top 25% averaging 72%.
  20. That seems like a classic high respect middling popularity character. Recognizable seems reasonable. Only old school fans know who someone like Jimmy Snuka is these days.
  21. Interesting to see you enjoyed School Days more than I did. I finished Haruhi Suzumiya, both TV series and movie. I have to say I've never seen an anime movie so perfectly matched to the TV show. Most anime movies are just cash grabs that have nothing to do with the TV series or continuity except for the characters. Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya instead builds on events from the TV show into some big events that finally force the main character to make some tough choices. I'm getting the novels next. I'm currently watching Nyarko-san when time allows. Lovecraftian monsters meet harem comedy. Really enjoying it so far. BTW, I'm baaaaaack!
  22. Wow, it's been forever since I saw tapes of the Liger-Sano matches. I recall them being great. I'll have to give NJPW World a look.
