  1. <p>A lot of my strategy as UPJ has just been "Hey. remember those people you loved who left because of the Matsumoto Brothers? Well, guess what? They're Back."</p><p> </p><p> Eli Moton and Waotoka Eda have won the tag titles. Iglesias and Sean Griven have formed a tag team.</p><p> </p><p> Burning Toyotomi and Minamoto are probably coming back</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> It's a big old UPJ family reunion.</p>
  2. I'm only three shows in but I find it funny how UPJ plays closer to real life NJPW then most Real World Mods. Most real-world mods are off by like two grades but UPJ is pretty predictable in terms of performance and the characters real-life counterparts.
  3. Lolwut. Mick Foley refuses to throw a fireball in Sting's face because it's too risque. Really?
  4. <p><strong>Arn Anderson Just Broke His Neck.</strong></p><p> </p><p> On a weekly TV show too. It was a match pitting Flair and Anderson vs The Hart Foundation and Arn somehow broke his neck. I can't believe it. This is by far the most serious injury I've had in this five year save.</p><p> </p><p> He's going to be out an entire year.</p><p> </p><p> This sucks because while he's never been a true singles main eventer , I have debated putting the world title on him in the past. I also have no idea what to do with Flair now since Arn and Flair have been a huge tag team for me in the past. They've won Tag Team Of The Year Twice in the past.</p>
  5. <p>Weird stuff is happening in my game. It's a 1987 save and my own start-up company has been at war with the WWF since about october of 1988. It's 1991 now and they've finally moved into third. Not behind WCW or New Japan but behind my Canadian Developmental. </p><p> </p><p> Granted my developmental does have Mysterio , Van Dam , Austin , Awesome, Booker , Candido and Benoit but I have no idea how they've overtaken the WWF.</p><p> </p><p> Hogan and Piper are still putting on multiple MOTYCs yet somehow my development has surpassed them in popularity. It's probably because I've stolen Shawn and Bret from them but I still thought it would be NJPW or WCW that would overtake them.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> I also somehow ended up with a Joshi Monopoly since All Japan Women and JWP went out of business but I decided to keep both of them open as developmental for my women's division.</p>
  6. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Mortis" data-cite="Mortis" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41191" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><img alt="Buff_Isnt_The_Stuff.png" data-src="https://s26.postimg.org/8rcu8pxh5/Buff_Isnt_The_Stuff.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p> Oh Buff. I believed in you... I pushed you to be heir apparent to the nWo. You've let me down and you've let yourself down. You're no longer the stuff.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Didn't Buff become a prostitute in real life ? Maybe he was just doing some occupational research.</p>
  7. <p>Woah. Manny Fernandez is the new WWF champion in my '87 save. What? Hogan had the belt from '84 to '88 defending it 15 times then Savage held it from '88 to '91 defending it 20 times and now Manny Fernandez is the new champion. What? I know I've been raiding their roster and Bret and Shawn aren't there but Manny Fernandez really?</p><p> </p><p> I did not see that coming.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> More hilariously though Savage lost the belt at The Rumble then won the Rumble but his contract is up so he's probably going to end up singing with me anyways. Which is the second time that's happened since Steamboat won the '89 Rumble and then immediately signed with me as well.</p><p> </p><p> I have no idea how the WWF is still Number Two in this save other then Hogan has a 100 popularity.</p><p> </p><p> The company is a shell of it's self yet they still somehow manage to be the biggest thorn in my side as a promoter.</p>
  8. <p>Is there anyway make sure a wrestler released by my company doesn't go to another company? I'm in a three-way war with the WWF, WCW and my company. I'd love to be able to make sure that anyone released by me ends up in WCW instead of the WWF since my main goal for this save is to cripple the WWF. Is there anyway to do this? Will going to war with them do it or not?</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> I really wish I know/there was a way to do this but I don't care how great WCW becomes. I just don't want Vince stealing my stars.</p>
  9. <p>Weird. Playing my main save (A 1987 mod that's now in October of 1990) and All Japan has let Akira Taue walk.</p><p> </p><p> I have no idea why. It might be a money issue but he's only an opener and he's only 29. How much money could he possibly be asking? This is really odd. It's going to be weird if Taue goes to New Japan and becomes like the new Fourth Musketeer or something.</p>
  10. <p>It's 1990 in my '87 and my first batch of big free agents came up. Everyone re-signed except for Tully Blanchard. I hate Tully so much right now. Everyone signed even guys like Vader (My World Champion) and Sting and Arn and Scott Steiner. Everyone except for Tully. It sucks.</p><p> </p><p> He's also been kind of a prick honestly because he constantly refuses to do jobs in tags to Sting and Dr. Death and Davey Boy and Owen. Arn and Flair are constant professionals but Tully's always been thickheaded and I've kind of acquiesced to his needs a lot of the time so that plus the fact that he's the first one to jump ship really makes me hate his guts.</p><p> </p><p> He's just a huge scumbag in this save.</p>
  11. <p>With Ring Warriors US , my custom made promotion starting in '87 it would be something like this.</p><p> </p><p> 1. Ted Dibiase Vs Bob Backlund For The Greatest Warrior Title - 82 - 5/25/87</p><p> RWUS Way Of The Warrior</p><p> </p><p> 2. Curt Hennig Vs Barry Windham For The Greatest Warrior Title - 87 - 12/2/87 </p><p> RWUS Day Zero</p><p> </p><p> 3. Curt Hennig Vs Terry Funk For The Greatest Warrior Title - 95 - 3/5/88</p><p> RWUS The End 1</p><p> </p><p> 4. Curt Hennig Vs Stan Hansen For The Greatest Warrior Title - 96 - 9/10/88</p><p> RWUS To The Death </p><p> </p><p> 5. Ric Flair Vs Curt Hennig For The Greatest Warrior Title - 100- 12/6/88 </p><p> RWUS Day Zero</p><p> </p><p> 6. Ric Flair Vs Dynamite Kid For The Greatest Warrior Title - 99 - 3/4/89</p><p> RWUS The End ll</p><p> </p><p> 7. Ted Dibiase Vs Kevin Von Erich For The Television Warrior Title - 92 - 12/16/87 </p><p> Warrior Battle Weekly</p><p> </p><p> 8. Ted Dibiase, Curt Hennig and Shawn Michaels Vs Ric Flair , Ricky Steamboat and Dusty Rhodes - 99 - 5/12/89</p><p> Warrior Battle Weekly</p><p> </p><p> 9. Ricky Steamboat and Sting Vs Ric Flair And Shawn Michaels - 99 - 9/14/89</p><p> Warrior Battle Weekly</p><p> </p><p> 10. Shawn Michaels And Curt Hennig Vs Ric Flair And Owen Hart - 95- 12/12/88</p><p> Warrior Fights</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> I actually think this DVD would have to be like a three dvd set because there's a bunch of great non-title matches and important wrestlers in the company's history not in this list. Arn Anderson has been with the company since it started and has had two 100 rated tag matches with Flair.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Vader And Dr. Death have also been cornerstones of the tag division but didn't make the DVD because most of their matches are in the mid-to-low 90s and with so many great matches it was hard to find one to put on here.</p><p> </p><p> Steamboat also had a great TV Title Reign with eight defences where the lowest defence was a 93 but his reign is overshadowed by Henning's year long World Title Reign.</p>
  12. So I'm using Old School Wrasslin' as my product base for an American Company because I find storylines kind of convoluted. It's going pretty well except all of my matches have little to no heat? How do you build heat for a match in an Old School Wrasslin' fed with no storylines?
  13. <p>Well, this is my new favorite TEW story ever. So I've been running Jim Crockett Promotions in '87 and everything's going fantastic. I've brought in a lot of talent from CWA and AWA (Vader, Williams, Henning, Lawler, Zybsko, Dibiase) and they've all been doing great.</p><p> </p><p> Vader And Williams are probably my two top heels next to Flair and Dibiase looks to be the heir apparent to Dusty.</p><p> </p><p> Unfortunately, things have been going too great though because while I've been focusing on getting those guys over and succeeding, The Road Warriors left the company and I never noticed.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Apparently, they left the company for AJPW two months ago and I just never noticed. I've been so focused on getting Vader And Williams over as a tag team that I never noticed the Road Warriors leaving I guess.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> The really weird part is that the shows have actually gotten better as a result. I was getting low 80s in April (when they left) and now I'm getting low 90s in July.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> To give a better perspective on what their absence has meant. The last show they were on before leaving was the Jim Crocket Sr. Memorial Cup which had an 86 rating. My last show, The Eddie Graham Memorial Show did a 96.</p>
  14. <p>NJPW needs a serious overhaul in this mod. It's a mess. Like Tanahashi is the figurehead but he hasn't been the figurehead in real life since he lost to Okada at the Wrestle Kingdom 11 and Okada's comically unpopular for some reason that I don't comprehend. It's weird.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> It's like a bootleg NJPW where the names are right but the characters don't match up. Heck, Omega like a B or something in Puro despite having like four MOTYC in the last eight months. It's just odd.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> I mean the company has E momentum! That's not even close to being right. At their lowest, They're at maybe a B+. </p><p> </p><p> My main problem with the company though is that it doesn't match up to the company historically. Okada should be higher then Tanahashi, He should be around Hashimoto's level but he's not. He's actually lower then Tanahashi and somehow lower than like every IWGP Heavyweight Champion ever except for like Salman Hashimikov and that makes no sense within the actual historical narrative of NJPW.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> No serious NJPW fan is like "Pfft, Okada? Nah, Yuji Nagata's where it's really at." That's just not a thought any NJPW fan has ever had and I've watched a lot of NJPW. I've watched everyone from Fujinami and Kimura to Canek and Fishman.</p><p> </p><p> I mean I respect NJPW's past. I love watching 80s NJPW probably more then anyone else in the world but it's not that great honestly. It's fine for what is and the era it took place in but it shouldn't be overshadowing the current generation at all.</p><p> </p><p> I don't know. It's like playing a baseball game and watching the 2016 Chicago Cubs lose to the 1927 New York Yankees. It's just not how things work.</p>
  15. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Nossair" data-cite="Nossair" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41191" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><a href="http://i.imgur.com/KkNGWHB.jpg" rel="external nofollow">http://i.imgur.com/KkNGWHB.jpg</a><p> </p><p> Get the fook outta here.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><p> At first, I thought it was just a situation where someone else took the mantle but no, that's the real Captain New Japan. That's not even the weirdest part though. Why the hell is Elijah Burke in NJPW in 2020?!!?!?</p>
  16. <p>Running NJPW in '87 again and got the mid-year award report. So far we're winning Company Of The Year, Show Of The Year, Match Of The Year, Wrestler Of The Year, Tag Team Of The Year, Young Wrestler Of The Year and Veteran Wrestler Of The Year.</p><p> </p><p> It's mostly due to Tatsumi Fujinami whose had seven straight A rated IWGP heavyweight title defenses. He's basically become the 80s Misawa in my game and it's crazy to watch. </p><p> </p><p> His lowest rated match is a B+ against Terry Gordy.</p>
  17. Playing as NJPW in '87 again and Ric Flair just randomly died. I have no idea how it happened and wasn't made aware of it until he was inducted into the Hall Of Immortals. I decided to bring him back to life because his death was way too random to me. It was just weird seeing Ric Flair dead especially 80s flair.
  18. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="The Dynamite Sid" data-cite="The Dynamite Sid" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41174" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>This sounds like a great mod. The politicking in WCW sounds out of control</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I actually have it somewhat under control because I'm simply not pushing anyone who won't play ball with me.</p><p> </p><p> Sting , Hart , Storm , Jericho , Benoit , Malenko , Guerrero, Saturn , Raven all are willing to do jobs so they get pushes while Hall and Nash sit their butts in the midcard getting beat up by the Dudleyz because they refuse to put anyone over.</p><p> </p><p> Hall and Nash have creative control but creative control only lets them refuse match bookings , it doesn't allow them to refuse backstage beatdowns. So they win most of their matches but spend the rest of their time getting beaten up by The Dudleyz or The Flock.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> I'll also say forming factions helps relive tension because then guys only have to do jobs in tags and handicaps. Right now the main feud is the New Hart Foundation ( Hart , Storm , Jericho , Neidhart) VS Sting , Luger , Benoit and Malenko after Benoit refused to turn heel and join the Hart foundation.</p>
  19. <p>I hate Hulk Hogan so much in game. First , He started negotiating with the WWF after I had to vacate the World Heavyweight Championship because he refused to drop it to either Hart or Sting at PPV. Now he's suing me for wrongful termination after I fired him for starting a fight backstage.</p><p> </p><p> I may have over reacted but Hogan , Hall , Nash and Bischoff are the worst people in this entire company. They refuse to put anyone over and constantly start fights with other talent backstage. Hell, Nash ran Piper out of the company by himself. Not that I had any long-term plans for Piper anyways but he still could've been used as a nostalgia pop.</p>
  20. <p>The main event of the 1998 Ilio DiPaolo Memorial Show in my WCW run? Raven and Chavo Gurrero Jr. Vs Hulk Hogan and Jeff Jarrett with Chavo and Raven going over.</p><p> </p><p> <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/eek.png.0e09df00fa222c85760b9bc1700b5405.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> I get the weird teams because it's a memorial show but I'm shocked Hogan would put over Raven and Chavo. Chavo's done nothing in my save but take the L in Eddie + Chavo matches and Raven an upper midcarder at best. It's weird.</p>
  21. <p>Should I just fire The Outsiders from '98 WCW? I've brought in the Dudleyz as replacements and I honestly prefer them to The Outsiders IRL but I'm not sure if canning The Outsiders is logical or not at this point. They've already run Piper out of the company and I'm scared they might do the same to Flair , The Giant or someone else important if I don't get rid of them sooner or later.</p><p> </p><p> Plush Nash refuses to job since he has creative control. I just don't see the appeal in keeping them around.</p>
  22. <p>NJPW just signed Jun Kasai in my 2001 game. I'm not as down on Kasai as others as I actually somewhat enjoy BJPW but what? I know Kojika died and Onita took over BJPW in this save but why would NJPW pick up Kasai? Are they trying to turn him into a new Honma or something?</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> I just don't get it. Mid-2000s NJPW was a sea of bad ideas but this is so wacky it's beyond the pale.</p>
  23. Bruiser Brody just signed to the WWF in my '87 NJPW save. I'm sure that'll end well.
  24. <p>What is up with the old men in NJPW having such high ratings? I just ran a show where 800 year old Kojima and Nagata put on better matches then Goto and Shibata?</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> O'Reilly and Elgin also need serious buffs. In fact most of the ROH roster needs serious buffs. Jay Briscoe is a former world champion who just put up a 62 to Jado's 63. I respect Jado but the guy's a career midcarder and tag team specialist , he shouldn't be out wrestling a former world champion <strong>sixteen</strong> years younger then him.</p>
