  11. Ozaki-Gun …. H … e … double hockey sticks yeah!!!! Time to get some old school heel work in this diary. 12. Jericho is not a legit Main eventer only because he can only really work a limited schedule rather than week in and week out - in terms of the skills he still has it but he needs to be used more judiciously They are using him as a faction leader to cover that by having him use lackeys in ring as an obstacle to opponents and that's an excellent way to extend out his usefulness at that level because there's no doubt he can work the mic and draw heat like nobodies business. PAC is a good worker but I think it would be a struggle to push him as a legit Main eventer in the US - he's small and his mic work is an acquired taste - they might get him to that level but the US relies more on mic work that Japan or the UK and that and his size are problematic. Darby Allin and Hangman Page are two of the guys I mentioned that they are trying to make that level - at AEW they are in front of a Partisan crowd and are over but in terms of drawing viewers on TV I very much doubt they are at that level at this point - in fact if you put their photos in front of the average wrestling fan I doubt they would be recognised. I think if you put on a show without Cody/Jericho/Omega or Moxley and relied on people like Allin and Page it would be a struggle right now. I'm not saying they wont get to a Main event level - I really hope AEW succeeds in making stars but right now I think they are relying very heavily on Moxley, Omega, Cody and Jericho which is why adding someone like Matt Hardy would see him pushed to Main Event level pretty quickly as a short term option.
  13. It's the truth with AEW though. They have two legit Main Eventers Moxley & Omega and they wasted them on a meaningless deathmatch with nothing on the line which killed any chance of a decent feud anytime soon (when you have a match set at 11 it's hard to do a follow up anytime soon after). After that they have Jericho who is closer to 50 than he is 40 and Cody who might be able to Main event but hasn't really done it at any major level. After that you have Tag Specialists like the Bucks and the Lucha Brothers and people like PAC & Swagger who have holes in their game. They are doing well with what they have but the truth of the matter is it's going to take a while before their young talent establishes themselves and they have a decent pool of Main Eventers - for now they have to try to get people up to the level where they are credible against their main guys. In reality if Hardy did head there he would probably be in the slot he's being used in this diary which is why some WWE mid-carders want to jump ship.

  15. WWE RAW 15: Hawaii Pre–Show: Meet and Greets with the fans Steph & Regal are out hyping the Elimination Chamber saying they will be announcing the participants later tonight. Backstage: Io and Asuka interact and the tension begins to escalate between the two of them. Elsewhere backstage, DIY cut a promo about how they refuse to be forgotten about. In ring …. Finally The Rock has come back to HHHHHAAAAAWWWWAAAIIIIIIII !!!!! He talks about how he loves his life making movies but part of him longs to get back into the ring and tonight he feels like laying the Smack down! He issues an open challenger Sonjay Dutt answers the challenge … yeah that’s a smart career move Sonjay. 1: The Rock defeated Sonjay Dutt – So Sonjay’s role in the WWE is to put people over and he’s pretty good at that and the crowd was just happy to see The Rock go through his signature shtick on his way to an inevitable victory. Rock Bottom, Peoples elbow – Pin. It was a nice little bonus match that didn’t overstay it’s welcome. 2: Io Shirai defeated a Local Worker – Veteran indy worker Tracy Taylor did the honours in putting Io over here. A solid outing designed to make Io look strong. 3: DIY defeated Local Workers – This was meh … the locals failed to gel together and whilst DIY are good workers they don't really have a lot of traction on the Main Roster so far. I’m not even sure this made the 3 star level to be honest. A backstage altercation between Kairi Sane and Taya Valkyrie escalates into a fight and needs to be broken up by Road Agents Shinsuke & The Strong Style Samurai are out and they cut a promo about how they loved being back home in the home of Strong Style in Japan last week they are interrupted by the chant Lucha … Lucha …. LUCHA! Lucha House Party come out – we have a Six Man coming up. 4: Lucha House Party (Gran Metalik, Lince Dorado & Kalisto) defeated Strong Style Samurai (Shinsuke, Tozawa & KUSHIDA) – I am genuinely surprised by this result. The Samurai appeared to be on a roll and had been handling the luchadores pretty easily up till now and I figured this would be one last blow-off for this feud instead Kalisto nailed the Salida del Sol on Akira Tozawa and the win for his team. 5: Kairi Sane defeated Taya Valkyrie – This was a solid bout but like the rest of tonight so far came in at somewhere between the 3 and 3 and ½ star mark which is somewhat underwhelming for the WWE. That said they let the women work a proper match rather than a jiggle-fest so I shouldn’t complain. Kairi hit the Insane Elbow for the win. John Cena cuts a Promo about how he intends to win the title at the Elimination Chamber. Ever-Rise approach the Secret Society saying they need to prove themselves on RAW. Ali & Murphy say they know how they feel and that everybody deserves a chance and they will give them a match tonight. In Ring: Kurt Angle re-unites with American Alpha and will now be their Manager. 6: American Alpha def Local Workers – This was another squash filler match on a night with way too many of them for mine. The promo work tonight has been really strong but in-ring there's been nothing much of note. We get short backstage promos for the United States, RAW Womens and WWE title matches later tonight – 2 of these matches should be really good the other has Zelina Vega in it. She worked the mic well but I cant imagine her and Asuka working. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn talk about their work on the Unified Theory of Physics and how they are on the verge on solving the issues between the General Theory of Relativity and Quantum Mechanics … or perhaps they just talked about being RAW Tag champs. The work was strong here and was actually about the boys facing DoiYoshi at the Elimination Chamber. 7: AJ Styles defeated Ultimo Dragon to retain the US title – Yayyyyyy an actual decent wrestling match. AJ and the veteran Dragon put on a nice little bout with lots of fun moves before an ending that saw AJ nail the Styles Clash to retain his title. 8: Secret Society def Ever-Rise – Parker and Martel have mainly been working B-Shows and the under-card since their call-up but they showed some promise here. It was a fun bout that saw Buddy Murphy nail the Murphy’s Law on Matt Martel for the victory. Steph & Regal come out post match and announce AJ Styles will defend the United Stares title in a Elimination Chamber Match against both Secret Society members, Kofi Kingston, Conor McGregor and Daniel Bryan. That should be quite fun as all 6 men are pretty athletic and McGregor has a ton of experience inside a cage. The crowd seemed very happy as all 6 men faced off post announcement. 9: Asuka retained the RAW Womens title over Zelina Vega – WTF!!!! Asuka and Zelina have wonderful chemistry … nobody could have predicted that one. It made this a lot of fun to watch. Zelina was all slimy cheating heel with her com padre Andrade doing some stellar work on the outside trying to distract the ref. Unusually the official was on the ball and caught Zelina several times. Andrade tripped Asuka and was sent to the back which left Zelina on her own and that led to the Asuka lock being applied about a minute later. Steph & Regal announce that no matter who wins the WWE title match tonight both men will be in the Elimination Chamber match along with Brock Lesnar, John Cena, Finn Balor and Adam Cole. That’s an interesting mix with Cole’s recent feud with Cena and Brock and Rey’s ongoing issues already having a Cage bout at the Rumble. Balor and Dolph bring plenty of skill and speed to the mix. The crowd was pretty white hot for this announcement and the 6 men got into each others faces. 10: Rey Mysterio defeated Dolph Ziggler to retain the WWE title when Brock attacked Rey – This was a nice little teaser for the Elimination Chamber with Dolph Ziggler in the unusual position of being the larger more powerful man in the match. It actually looked like we might see dolph Ziggle capture the title until Brock Lesnar hit the ring and Suplexed Rey. An angry Ziggler Superkicked Brock in the head. Cena, Balor and Cole all hit the ring and the show ends with all 6 Elimination Chamber participants brawling. The last four matches really upped the in-ring quality of the show and the angles and mic work were on point tonight even if those first 6 matches were largely forgotten by the end of the show, well it's unlikely the Samurai are going to forget that defeat.
  16. WWE Smackdown 14: Nassau Coliseum Uniondale, New York Pre-Show: Basso Brothers, Mike Kanellis, Drew Gulak & Tony Nese, Lucha Brothers (Muerte & Phoenix), Chickbusters and Eric Young, Robert Roode & James Storm defeated local talent Samoa Joe wants a piece of CM Punk tonight. The Firefly Funhouse sees Bray in a particularly odd mood (which is saying something). He says that Seth stole something from him and that he needs to make sacrifices to get what he wants back. Professor Braun Strowman PH-D delivers a soliloquy about the travails of existence … who am I kidding … the big guy rambles on about giving someone these hands. 1: Braun Strowman retains the Intercontinental title from Konnor – Two technical masters put on a match reminiscent of Steamboat versus Savage, in that two men were in a wrestling ring and one of them one. It was a solid brawl but nothing special. Braun hit a reverse chokeslam for the win. The lights go red and the Family hit the ring and go on the attack. Braun manages to fight them off but the already beaten Konnor is easy prey. The Shield run down tot he ring but as they do the lights go out and there is a blood curdling scream. When the lights return both the Family and Konnor are gone. This might be old fashioned hokum but it was darn good old fashioned hokum and the crowd loved it. The MMA Horsewomen (well mainly the popular one) talk about how they are going to destroy the 4 Horsewomen. Backstage: The Iiconics cut one of their hilariously self deluded promos about how they are the dominant force in women's wrestling – it was especially funny coming straight after the MMA Horsewomen and their legit fighting skills. The IIconics are a gift though – Billie’s whiny nasally delivery and Peyton’s dazed ditzyness are a nice change of pace and style. Elsewhere Backstage: Alexa Bliss is approached by Stacy Keibler – they engage in some fake pleasantries but the under-current of hostility is palpable. 2: MMA Horsewomen defeated local workers – Ronda Rousey is probably not happy working this sort of bout but she needs ring time to get the ringwork part of her game up to speed. She made one of the locals tap out. The 4 Horsewomen appear and attack the MMA Horsewomen, I have to question the quality of security employed by the WWE, their in-ring talent seems to be constantly under attack by intruders post match surely at this point the security people must be aware this is likely to happen and should be taking steps to prevent it happening. So the incompetent Security tries to break a brawl between 4 women … it doesn’t go great for the Security guys but eventually a semblance of order is restored. 3: The IIconics retained the WWE Womens Tag over local workers – The IIconics squashed some pretty locals and played to the crowd. They are getting pretty darn good at it and are starting to show more in ring flair too. The announce team hype tonight's Main Event between Samoa Joe and CM Punk. A backstage skit from John Cena and The Rock. I guess they called in Rocky as a place filler given Randy Orton’s mysterious disappearance for the next month. The Miz argues with the Kings of the Bar (as they are now calling themselves) – he wants his 24/7 title back. The Miz needs to face Kassius Ohno before they will give him a chance. 4: The Miz defeated Kassius Ohno – A top quality fun match saw Ohno show-off his offensive skills. The Miz managed to get the win with a roll-up and got out of the ring before Cesaro and Sheamus could jump him. I guess someone has learned that post match is attack time. 5: CM Punk defeated Samoa Joe – I could watch this match over and over. These two guys are fun to watch and can still bring it in the ring. Colt Cabana distracted Joe which allowed CM Punk to get an advantage and apply the Anaconda Vise. Joe refused to tap and the ref stopped the match when Joe passed out in the hold.

  19. Alexa Bliss is maybe 5'2 (at a push) she's a tiny little girl who is an ex competitive cheerleader. She's got great athletic skills and she's pretty but she also has that Mean Girls vibe to her. She plays a spoilt brat really well. when things don't go her way the toys come out of the playpen.

  21. She's actually fairly talented and that was reflected in the mod but her age was problematic for any sort of long term plan. I went for Stacy because I always liked her. The whole idea was just to have a vet come back and because I have been having those girls beat vets and locals have one win a title. Just something unexpected but plausible. I wanted Alexa to lose that way because you can visualise her losing her mind and throwing a tantrum like a 3 year old when it happened which is totally in character for her.

  23. Oh crap Sloth's got a habit now … that's tough because you have to be awfully careful not to annoy him and end up alienating half your roster. He was based on Raven but I never expected him to follow the model so slavishly. Another entertaining show
