The two lightweight women did what smaller workers do best and that’s put on the ultimate in fast paced matches. There were more moves attempted, and in spectacular fashion, in the seventeen minute match then I’ve seen in some thirty or sixt minute iron man matches. With the fans out of their seats, and knocked out of their socks, Sensational Ogiwara got her win in this match of the year candidate by getting Saeko Hiroyuki in the Sensation Stunner, followed by a pin.
Yuma Maruya over Connie Morris – C Kit Hatoyama over Saori Nakadan – B The Rainbow Girls over All Business – C June Butler over Megumi Nakajima – C- Thunder Hike over DEVIL Karube – B+ Sensational Ogiwara over Saeko Hiroyuki – A* Overall: A Holy crap our highest attendance to date 818 showed up to be wowed and the legend of Sensational Ogiwara grew. We’ve had sky rocketing popularity in our home region and an increasing number of fans. I saw some folks leaving with their jaws still hanging to the floor and the comments form the crowd made my heart soar. I’ll admit the pure number of workers with something the clicks in the ring has been incredible and most of that between my top teir competitors could mean a long and prosperous run for 5SSW, except now we need to start making some money.

The match was decent but not great and I think the fans were hoping for more especially having seen some of the singles matches with Saeko and Kiko. Saori tried a brawling offense we haven’t seen from her before but Saeko was still the one who came out looking the best. The Bomb Squad had a hard time keeping The Rainbow Girls at bay and that let to a rather raucous brawl on the outside causing the referee to count out both teams.
Crusher Ichihara over Megumi Nakajima For the 5SSW World Title
Megumi Nakajima may have been on a losing streak but she has lost in close match ups to a lot of the top talent of 5SSW and this has garnered her a title shot. The young Nakajima just couldn’t hold out against the onslaught of Ichihara and was eventually taken out by the Skull Crusher Pile Driver.
Kit Hatoyama over DEVIL Karube
Most times Kit Hatoyama has had to pull decent or even good matches out of the other upper card workers but today versus DEVIL Karube she was handed an opponent that brought out the best in her and gave the fans a near perfect match up. High speed top rope moves were interspersed with highly technical mat work in just the right proportion to make the match flow exactly the right way. Hatoyama though was the superior worker probably because she had many more years in the ring than the young Karube. The match ended with the Hatoyama Driver which appeared to have even more impact than usual leaving DEVIL out in the ring for a few minutes after the match was over.
Sensational Thunder over Thunder Hike
After the Hatoyama versus Karube match I think the fans expected a lot more from the top two women’s workers in the world, although it could be they were just burned out form the previous showings. Thunder and Hike still put on one hell of a show keeping the fans on their feet but by the end of the match Thunder Hike was tiring out. Sensational thunder locked in the Sensation Special and forced Hike to tap out for the win.
Gorgon over Tsuki Kawamata – C Yuma Maruya over Raku Makuda to retain the 5SSW All-Asian Title – C Joanne Rodriguez over Connie Morris – C The Bomb Squad draw The Rainbow Girls to retain the 5SSW Tag Team Titles – C Crusher Ichihara over Megumi Nakajima to retain the 5SSW World Title – B Kit Hatoyama over DEVIL Karube – A Sensational Thunder over Thunder Hike – B Overall Rating: B This seems to be about our groove in terms of how well our shows go off with the occasional show capped off by a superior match. Our attendance was 254 quite a bit down from the last time we visited the Hofu Arena but the flagging economy and industry are probably to blame for this. I was a bit disappointed by the Sensational Thunder versus Thunder Hike match but I suppose there isn’t much I can do about that now. As soon as DEVIL Karube breaks away from her rookie days I think she can be a real star in 5SSW and I’m hoping the boss agrees with me.

We hit the last leg of our tour next week and then into our big finish event Super Nova on the last Sunday of January. I can’t wait to see what the end of this tour brings.
I've got a lot of talent and lucked out with a lot of pretty good and great chemistry.
What you've really lucked out in is having some amazing main eventers. Most of that card is nothing to write home about (going on the match ratings) , but the semi main event is a very good match (B+) and then the main event itself is some amazing MOTYC, that will have a bunch of cornysmarks on the cornynet salivating over it and saying it's a must see show just for that match alone.

In the month of January 5SSW put on two high rated (A rating) shows and had two match of the year candidates (A* matches) both involving Sensational Ogiwara. Not a single other company with shows this month has been able to match that feat, including NOTBPW how has been known to put on two or more match of the year worthy matches in one show. Looking at the workers in the company I can see there are many who are ready to move on to the next level but there are also some who need quite a bit more work before they can be true stars. I wrote out some notes to myself to keep things in order. Chitose Ariwara Wins 0 / Losses 5 Average D- Highest C Chitose took losses in all five matches of the Brightest Star Tour. She still needs the better workers to carry her as her in ring psychology leaves a little to be desired although her grasp of the basics is growing as is her talent as a flier. Still her aerial work is still more flash then substance but it is growing. Her biggest weakness is her in ability to go for long in the ring but as she gets more and more matches under her belt that will change as well. Connie Morris Wins 3 / Losses 7 Average C- Highest B- Connie is a weak flier with no flash and a weak technical worker, on top of that her ring psychology isn’t great and she has little stamina in the ring. On the good side she is safe and consistent in the ring with a good enough grasp of the basics to keep from messing up a match to badly. Crusher Ichihara Wins 6 / Losses 3 / Draws 3 Average B Highest A Even losing her title at the end of the tour Crusher still has some good momentum going for her which will be good for next tour in two months. Crusher put on quite a few good matches and is the best brawler in the company who has pulled good matches out of some of the younger less experienced workers. She’s still a star and could have another title run in her in the future DEVIL Karube Wins 3 / Losses 9 Average B Highest A* DEVIL is the stand out young stat of the company and has gained a lot of popularity with the fans where we hold our shows. She has the basics the psychology and the stamina to put on great matches as well as the consistency to put on good matches all the time. Her stand up brawling as well as her flying skills both have improved over the last tour and there is no telling how far this future star can go. Gorgon Wins 3 / Losses 7 Average C- Highest B- Gorgon might not be the best worker we have but she has grown over this tour tremendously showing a better grasp of the psychology needed in the ring as well as expanding her repertoire with some decent mat work. He popularity with the fans has grown by leaps and bounds and the All-Asian title has proven she is a true monster. Huntress Makiko Wins 0 / Losses 5 Average D+ Highest C- The Huntress showed little growth over the course of the Brightest Star Tour but with only five matches since I took over, all of them losses, it can be said she wasn’t given a chance. Still she needs a bit more work before she can stand up with the big girls and maybe next tour she’ll get some more matches to cut her teeth on. Ikuko Temko Wins 1 / Losses 3 Average D+ Highest D+ As good a brawler as her partner Huntress Makiko is a technical worker Ikuko also needs to grow in skill before she can really stand with our top stars. She actually showed a little growth learning some of her partners moves and moving away from her rookie image in the back. If Huntress and Ikuko stick together they could probably progress as a good tag team. Joanne Rodriguez Wins 4 / Losses 7 Average C Highest B I’m a bit biased on the subject of my girl J-Ro but even taking more losses then wins she has gotten more over with our audience as a result of her stellar performances. Even with her small size I saw some attempts at improving her stand up game in an attempt to be a true all arounder in the ring. She even gained more respect in the locker room, something known to be tough for an American in Japan. June Butler Wins 8 / Losses 1 Average C- Highest B- The only thing keep Butler in the main event scene is the fact the fans love to hate her so much. Her American style brawling is equaled by her skill as a Japanese style Puro worker but she lacks the in ring psychology to keep things cohesive. She did bring in a better defense to the aerial workers she faces all the time and has begun to chain her moves together better but if she can’t keep up with some of our younger talent she may lose her spot at the top soon. Kiko Sakakibara Wins 6 / Losses 6 / Draws 1 Average C Highest B- Kiko has gained a lot of momentum with the fans as part of The Rainbow Girls, although she does carry her partner a bit she has all the skills to help some of the greener women learn what they need to carry a match in the ring. A decent aerialist and mat worker one day she could move onto singles competition but that day seems to still be a little ways off. Kit Hatoyama Wins 8 / Losses 3 Average B Highest A “White Lighting” Kit Hatoyama was certain lighting in the ring on the Brightest Star Tour, putting on consistently some of the best matches that 5SSW has ever seen. Her desire has only increased with her return to the ring last year and she is poised for great things. A top Flier, possibly the second best Puro female worker in the promotion and a more then decent technical worker she will some day soon make it to the main event. Megumi Nakajima Wins 5 / Losses 6 Average C Highest B Megumi put on some of the top matches with the main event and upper card workers showing that she too has the skill to make it far in 5SSW. Her Nakajima Straight Jacket and her decent all around skill have made her a fan favorite but her lack of in ring psychology means she will probably need more growth before truly making it. Otsune Tsumura Wins 5 / Losses 5 / Draws 1 Average C Highest C+ Kiko Sakakibara’s tag partner is still green in the ring but she by far had the most growth in her skills over the course of the tour. Another few tours as the partner of Kiko and Otsune could come out of the bottom ranks of the card and really make it. Raku Makuda Wins 0 / Losses 10 Average C Highest C+ Masked Raku has what it takes to be a future star already good enough in the in ring psychology department to hold her own. Makuda’s aerial skill also tops a number of the other midcard workers in 5SSW. What seems to be holding her back is her tag team partner Tomoko Nagatsuka, but with the small tag division one can only wonder when or if Raku will make a go at it on her own. Saeko Hiroyuki Wins 8 / Losses 2 / Draws 1 Average C+ Highest A* Veteran Saeko is one half of the tag team champions and has become a fan favorite heel because of it. A decent high flier she could learn to bring a little more flash to her game but her selling point is her grasp of in ring psychology for helping along the younger workers, includingher partner. She lacks the talent of the main event workers but she will always have a place in 5SSW because of her consistency. Saori Nakadan Wins 6 / Losses 4 / Draws 1 Average C Highest B The other half of the tag champs, The Bomb Squad, Saori has a lot to learn from her partner. As a technician she may have more to learn from other workers but from her partner she should learn the cohesion needed to keep the match going in the ring. She has a lot more growth to do and time will tell how far she can get. Sensational Ogiwara Wins 8 / Losses 0 / Draws 2 Average B+ Highest A* Ogiwara has proven to be the shinning star of 5SSW and she may have little more she can grow into as she has nearly perfected all styles of wrestling as it is. As the new 5SSW World Champion her title defenses will help anyone who goes after her learn how to truly master the ring. Thunder Hike Wins 10 / Losses 1 / Draws 1 Average B Highest A Hike is the second best technical worker in the company behind Ogiwara and probably the second best all around performer in the ring. With matches like the ones she had with DEVIL Karube, Hike prove she still has a lot to give before she hangs up her boots. Tomoko Nagatsuka Wins 0 / Losses 9 Average C- Highest C+ Tomoko is just a weak technician with just barely enough skill to carry a match on her own. She still seems to be learning in the ring but she lacks that something look that’s gonna get her far. Luckily she has her star hitched to Raku Makuda but she may very well be keeping her partner back from doing great things, if only the tag division weren’t so small. Tsuki Kawamata Wins 3 / Losses 6 Average C- Highest C+ Tsuki really isn’t that great a worker but she is learning from her tag partner Joanne Rodriguez. Again this is a case, like All Business, of one partner holding the other back but a lack of teams in the tag division to split them up yet. If Tsuki learns faster from her partner she may well yet make a decent member of the roster. Yuma Maruya Wins 9 / Losses 2 Average C- Highest B Yuma lost her title at the end of the Brightest Star Tour but her true competitive nature has shown us some decent matches from the young high flier. She didn’t show a lot of growth either in skill or popularity with the fans but she very well could be 5SSW All Asian Champ again some day. Wrestler of the Tour Sensational Ogiwara This was no surprise seeing as she put on all of the best matches for the tour Young Lion of the Tour DEVIL Karube Two of the best matches of the tour against the likes of Sensational Ogiwara she is on the cusp of becoming a great all arounder and a top worker of 5SSW Most Improved Worker Saori Nakandan Working mostly tag matches Saori took away from all of her competitors and her partner showing the most improvement through the tour. The first tour ended and three days later I had great news both All Japan TV and Japanese Sports Vision 3 wanted to air a tour highlight show for us. I chose to go with Sports Vision because we are trying to show a truly athletic style competition and playing out on a sports specific net work will lend itself well to that. The show will be called 5SSW Feminine Mystique and air at 11pm on Saturdays giving a whole week in review for two seasons, if we can keep the ratings up. A day later we got more good news and young standout Shiori Jippensha signed a contract with us making her my first signing since coming on as lead guy in that area. Shiori made her debut a few scant months ago in the summer of 2006 and has been working hard on the independent scene. Already a submission specialist with mat work to spare she has a lot to offer as she masters in ring psychology and gets her teeth cut as a young lion. With her Jippensha Leglock many great things are expect of the young Shiori who has already garnered herself the moniker "The Excellence Of Execution". With the signing of a new worker it got me to thinking about the character of our girls. We may be a mostly athletic competition based promotion but the fans expect to see strongly divided good women and bad women as well as some type of character to get into. Only so much can come across in the ring so I’m thinking of setting up webcasts on the site as well as letting the ladies do radio, TV and magazine interviews to builda base for their characters without taking away from their ring time during shows.
OOC: Our product is Mainstream Heavy and Traditional Key as well as Face/Heel Divide Strong and I see this as the fans wanting strong characters but I think because I don’t want to push the boundaries of match reports that are too long to get into those characters that I might steal an idea from Ramaeno’s NYCW and to post show or maybe just post tour interviews from various sources to set up an idea of the characters of the workers. Any feedback or other ideas is appreciated.

Over the break between tours a bunch of things happened. Firstly the world was graced with another women only promotion, called Canadian Women’s Wrestling Federation. What this meant for me was very little, just that my girlfriend now had to split her time between AAA, CWWF and myself in Japan. The second bit of news was over the break DEVIL Karube spent some time reevaluating her skill set and she’ll be debuting as a Super Junior style wrestler when the new tour starts. The last little thing was extending the contract of Japan’s best referee, at least in my eyes, Tsugiharu Odaka.

It’s finally time for the next tour and this time I get to do it from the beginning, which means I have to make sure there are a few over arcing stories and themes for the fans to be interested and I believe I’ve done just that. After getting things laid out I finally showed my ideas and they were okayed. Now we just see how things play out. Great Diary Apu! I really like the presentation. Couldn't have done it better myself. I also like the way you evaluate each Tour, handing out mini-awards to the best performers. Good choice picking Shiori. I always pick her out pretty quick too. I'd recommend putting the main title match last, but the choice is up to you of course. :) Good luck! (and it appears you don't need it considering the excellent main events. Holy sh*t, I could only dream of A matches between those performers. But then again, there is nothing more awesome then main event chemistry, which is very rare in the game in my experience.)
