TNA Wrestling: Where Action Lives

Total Nonstop Action Wrestling Where Action Lives During the late 1990s the wrestling industry was in a boom the likes of which have never been seen before. This golden age for the industry saw three promotions vie for national prominence. Then all of a sudden it came crashing down when World Championship Wrestling was bought by Vince McMahon’s World Wrestling Federation. Shortly after Paul Heyman’s Extreme Championship Wrestling would close it’s doors for good, and all it’s intellectual properties were picked up by McMahon. This created one super promotion that ruled over the entire country with nobody to challenge them. During this time several small promotions shot up around the country, and nearly every one of them closed their doors shortly after. Then a small promotion from Nashville, Tennessee was opened up in May 2002. Nothing seemed different about this promotion, except that it was operated by Jerry Jarrett and his son, the former WCW World Champion Jeff. They would quickly partner up with the National Wrestling Alliance, giving them a credibility that several new promotions were lacking. They went forward with weekly pay-per-views, bringing in former stars of the big three promotions, all the while building their own names from the bottom. They used this unique mixture of talent and star power to steadily rise up the ranks. After only a few short years they had acquired a national television deal and held monthly pay-per-views. After their deal with Fox Sports Net was canceled, then TNA had to rely on hosting their weekly show, Impact on their website. Their breakthrough came when Impact was picked up by Spike TV, who had recently canceled their deal with Monday Night Raw. Impact appeared on Saturday Night’s, although it appeared very late. It was eventually given a primetime spot on Thursdays, but another problem was present for TNA Wrestling. They were given one hour of television per week, but they had built up a large roster, and much of their roster was going unutilized. Ultimately they were given two hours of television, and many people thought that this would turn around TNA’s problems…..think again. This is where our story picks up. TNA has had their two hour deal for several months now, but they are still severely scrutinized for the booking of their shows. Many feel that if only they would have a more solid direction then they could be a serious contender to WWE in a matter of a few short years. News is coming from TNA that their booking staff has been downgraded, and a new booker has come in to make TNA a more credible product. It is said that he will focus more on the in-ring product and believable storylines, and less on long drawn out storylines that rarely deliver anything but boos. The winds of change have blown through TNA, will it make a difference, or will the fans of TNA just be watching along as this ship goes down? Only time will tell, but expect one thing, the action will be returning to TNA, because from now on, TNA Wrestling is where action lives. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TNA World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle TNA World Tag Team Champions VACANT TNA X-Division Champion Jay Lethal TNA Knockout's Champion Awesome Kong
Shark Boy 24:7 is probably the highlight of Impact at the moment... It's supposed to be funny, and it is. TNA did something right.
Yeah, it's funny, it's entertaining, it probably doesn't help TNA draw any fans. That last one is exactly what TNA should focus more on, right?

TNA Impact comes to you on Spike TV once again this week, and there is a blockbuster tag team main event lined up for the fans in the Impact Zone. On one side there will be the TNA World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle teaming with AJ Styles. They will face off with Christian Cage and Samoa Joe, two men who both want a shot at Kurt Angle's championship. Speaking of that title, Jim Cornette has promised a huge announcement regarding who will get the next shot at the title at Destination X, and that announcement will kick off Impact. There will also be a return match from Against All Odds. It will be a rematch from the bloody barbed wire massacre match between Abyss and Judas Mesias. This match will be contested under regular rules, but you have to know that these two monsters will slug it out until one of them can't stand any more. Booker T is also scheduled to make an appearance in the Impact Zone Thursday, and he will most likely be addressing the wellness of his wife Sharmell, and the man that broke her jaw, Robert Roode. What will Booker have to say about this situation, will he be out for revenge?
Yeah, it's funny, it's entertaining, it probably doesn't help TNA draw any fans. That last one is exactly what TNA should focus more on, right?
They're drawing as many fans as they need. They're making money. There's no problem. TNA is supposed to be an alternative to WWE, not competition. No-one complains that ROH's buyrates are so low compared to the other companies. It's a different product, the networks aren't complaining, it's just us. Anyway, sorry to hijack the thread SHaynes. I'll be watching this diary, should be interesting.

I'll be watching this diary, should be interesting.
Why do you think ROH went in the PPV direction? They wanted to expand and make more money. That's the same reason TNA got a TV show, got it onto a bigger network, got it to a better day, a better timeslot, a longer running time. They want more fans, because they want to make more money. I don't even think they're breaking even, though they're close to it. They want to draw more fans and make more money and TRY to compete with the WWE as much as possible. I'm sorry, but Shark Boy doesn't really help. Things like the Knockout division do and have helped. Strengthening and building up the Tag, X-Division, and World title pictures would help tremendously. More star power would help. Having a guy in a shark suit take up 10 minutes of the show trying to be Steve Austin doesn't help. Shark Boy is a novelty act, and always will be. Jay Lethal has evolved the Black Machismo persona into more than juts a Randy Savage imitation. I doubt that will happen with Shark Boy. As for not trying to compete with WWE and just being an alternative... TNA stopped proclaiming that they are an "alternative" to WWE months ago. They have hired huge WWE guys, who then take shots at the WWE on TNA TV for whatever reason. They run angles like VKM. Not trying to be competition? Since when? P.S.: I also apologize for the thread hijacking, but I feel a point needs to be made. And see what a discussion the diary has started? I smell good things. And I don't think that's just clam juice.

Glad to see this up and running so quickly. I've never really gotten into TNA, but I read enough on Wrestleview to at least know who's who. That, and Youtube helps. You know I'll be reading. TNA Impact! Thursday March 4, 2008 Taped at Universal Studios Orlando, Florida Attendance: 1,000 TNA Impact gets underway with it’s explosive pyrotechnics display, followed by lasers scanning around the Impact Zone. After the lights come back up the camera pans to the ring where Jim Cornette is standing by with his personal bodyguard, Matt Morgan. Jim Cornette Ladies and gentlemen, I’m sure you’ve all seen my attempts to get Samoa Joe to sign a TNA contract extension in past weeks, and something would pop up and spoil my attempts every time. Well I don’t have to worry about that anymore, because earlier today Samoa Joe signed his TNA contract! There is a prevision in his contract that allows him to pick any date for a World Title shot, and Joe has already decided, and that date will be Destination X. So at Destination X it will be Kurt Angle defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Samoa Joe! The crowd lets out a roar at this news. They have seen many great Angle vs. Joe matches in the past, and in two weeks time they get to see two of the finest wrestlers in the world today face off once again, this time with the gold on the line. Jim Cornette That’s not all though. Matt, you’ve been getting a little bit feisty these days, so I figure now’s as good of time as any to let you loose in this ring, that’s why tonight you’ll make your TNA in-ring debut…..against Booker T! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rhino vs. Rellik Rellik made his way slowly towards the ring, and the polar opposite, Rhino sprinted towards ringside. These two met right in the middle of the ring, and Rellik tried to intimidate Rhino, but it had no effect on the War Machine and he unloaded on Rellik, sending him reeling. After Don West made sure that the fans knew that Rellik is killer spelled backwards six times he started to come back against Rhino, and he even had him sized up for his finisher, the Sickle. He charged at Rhino, but Rhino ducked the Sickle, then bounced off the ropes and came back with his Gore, earning himself the victory in his return to a TNA ring. Winner: Rhino Match Time: 7:56 Match Rating: B- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As Rhino is celebrating his big victory in the ring, the camera cuts over to Don West and Mike Tenay at ringside. Mike Tenay Congratulations to Rhino on his successful return to a TNA ring after a long absence. But we are being told that Rhino will return to pay-per-view action this Sunday at Destination X. It will be Rhino facing the man who sent him out of TNA for so long, James Storm. But this won’t be any old singles match, this will be the return of Elevation X! Don West ELEVATION X!?!? THIS IS GOING TO BE INSANE! We saw Rhino in Elevation X last year when he threw AJ off that huge structure, will he be able to do the same to the man that reintroduced alcohol to his life, and nearly ruined it, James Storm? You’ll have to tune into Destination X in a little more than a week to find out. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The camera crew goes backstage, and they spot AJ Styles pacing the floor in Kurt Angle’s room as Kurt and Karen sit on the couch as Angle prepares for the tag team main event later in Impact. AJ Styles Kurt, I’m freaking out here man. We’ve gotta fight Samoa Joe and Christian Cage. Samoa Joe, that guy hates me. We have put each other through hell. And don’t even get me started on Christian, you saw what I did to him last month. He wants to kill me Kurt. It wouldn’t be so bad if Tomko was here….but NOOOOOOO, he has to go wrestle in Japan tonight. I wish he would take that Japanese contract and just tear it up. I mean…. Kurt Angle Do you ever shut up? Sit down, have a drink, get ready for our match tonight. Just take it easy, your wrestling with the greatest wrestler to ever walk the earth kid, you’ve got nothing to worry about. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Curry Man vs. Shark Boy These two masked superstars have been tag team partners for several weeks, but Shark Boy didn’t like the fact that Curry Man wouldn't slam back a few tall cold bottles of Clam Juice with him, so they ended up facing each other here. They went to shake hands to start the match, but Shark Boy kicked Curry Man and went for the Stunner, but Curry Man was having none of it. They then put on a very high paced match, and after Curry Man reversed another Stunner attempt he was able to get Shark Boy up and drill him with the Spicy Drop to get the victory. Winner: Curry Man Match Time: 8:31 Match Rating: C -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The camera cuts to backstage, where Christian Cage is standing in the interview area with something to say. Christian Cage So I get screwed out of the championship last month and Samoa Joe gets a title shot at Destination X. I can handle that, but Jimmy boy, I better be the first one in line for a title shot against whoever wins. And as for you two punks tonight, Angle, Styles, you are both going to be getting the beatings you have had coming for you for a long time. And AJ, you have reason to be worried, because I’m coming after you, and I’m gonna take you out for what you did to me. And if you didn’t know before, now you know. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Latin American Xchange w/ Salinas vs. Team 3D w/ Johnny Devine The LAX made their big entrance, and Team 3D looked very uninterested in it, and when the match started they isolated the smaller Homicide in their corner, trying not to let the very dominant Hernandez enter the matchup. They used amazing teamwork on Homicide, and as the speedy young man from the Latino Nation tried to escape, they would hit a double team move that left him down. Homicide fought back with some quick dropkicks to Team 3D, and Hernandez made his way into the ring and cleaned house. He went to bounce off the ropes though and Johnny Devine nailed him in the back with his kendo stick. Hernandez then wandered right into a 3D, and that was all she wrote. Winners: Team 3D Match Time: 10:51 Match Rating: C -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Team 3D wasted no time in demanding the microphone from ringside. Johnny Devine went and yanked it from David Penzer, then gave it to Brother Ray. Brother Ray You know what? I’ve been hearing all you nerds in the crowd yell at us about how fat we are for too long. Those two dweebs Sabin and Shelley started this whole thing, and we plan on finishing it. As we see it we beat you in your match, Ultimate X, and you beat us in a street fight. That means that we’ve got one more battle coming boys. So at Destination X you will meet us in this ring one more time, and this time there’ll be no gimmicks, just a straight up tag match. You won’t have anything to fly off of or try to put us through, it’ll just be our power versus your speed. And let me tell you two punks something, we haven’t won over twenty tag titles for nothing. Brother Devon Oh my brother, testify! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A video begins to air showing the events from several weeks ago where Robert Roode clocked Sharmell right in the jaw, breaking it and causing Sharmell to be hospitalized back in Houston. It then shows Booker T’s return to the Impact Zone and how he has been hunting Robert Roode for the last couple of weeks. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Booker T vs. Matt Morgan This is Matt Morgan’s in-ring debut in TNA, and he had no easy task as he would be facing a multiple time World Champion in Booker T. It didn’t hurt that Booker T was still angry over the incident involving his wife. Morgan impressed many fans by throwing Booker T around the ring, something that few men are able to do. Morgan used his impressive strength to wear down Booker, but Booker T had too much of an experience edge over Morgan, and he quickly began to fight back. He kicked Morgan in the gut, then nailed his Axe Kick to pick up the victory. Winner: Booker T Match Time: 9:28 Match Rating: B- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After the match Booker T grabs the microphone and begins to speak to the man who broke his wife’s jaw, Robert Roode. Booker T Roode, I know you’re here. Get out here right now before I have to go back there and get you. Just then the camera cuts to Robert Roode jumping the guardrail. He then rushed the ring from behind Booker T and took him down with a Northern Lariat. He then stayed on top and put the boots to Booker T, not letting him up. After he stomped away as his manager Ms. Peyton Banks cheered on from ringside he stood over Booker with a certain sick expression on his face, very proud of what he just did to one of the finest wrestlers in the world. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Abyss vs. Judas Mesias w/ James Mitchell These two faced off in one of the most violent matches that TNA has ever seen just weeks ago, and the hate is still strong between them. They went after each other, but Abyss didn’t show any of the apprehension that he showed against Mesias in recent months. Mesias started working on Abyss in a slow methodic style. Abyss was having none of it though and turned up the intensity, and the two monsters were trading blows once again. This didn’t last long though as the much bigger Abyss gained the upper hand. Mesias took a few steps back, then charged at Abyss trying to put it away with his finisher, Straight to Hell, but Abyss caught him in the Black Hole Slam and picked up his second straight victory over the monster. Winner: Abyss Match Time: 10:50 Match Rating: C+ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After the match the lights went low in the arena, and an image of Dustin Rhodes’ alter ego Black Reign appeared on the big screen. Black Reign Very impressive Abyss. You may be able to beat that monster, but he’s got nothing on me. It’s about time to find out who the real monster is around here once and for all. So I challenge you to a match at Destination X, hardcore rules! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- O.D.B. vs. Awesome Kong w/ Raisha Saeed The Knockout’s champion made her way to the ring on a mission. O.D.B. has challenged her dominance over the Knockout division for the past month, and Kong didn’t take too kindly to this gesture. O.D.B. came out firing against Kong, trying to take the much bigger woman off her feet, but she was having absolutely no success. Kong got mad and charged at O.D.B. and took her over the top with a clothesline. This gave Raisha Saeed the chance to get a few kicks in, then throw O.D.B. back into the ring. Kong then scooped her right up and drilled a back fist, and followed right up with the Awesome Bomb to get the victory. Winner: Awesome Kong Match Time: 4:53 Match Rating: D+ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When Impact comes back from commercial break Scott Steiner is standing in the ring with his briefcase for a future X-Division Title shot. Scott Steiner I have decided when I’m going to be cashing this thing in for my X Division Title match. It is going to be Destination X. I will take on Jay Lethal for his championship. But tonight I need some action, so I’m issuing a open challenge to anybody in the back that thinks they can take on Big Poppa Pump. You know what, I’ll even put this briefcase up for grabs, and if you beat me you get the title match at Destination X. After a short silence the music of Eric Young plays over the Impact Zone, and the fans shoot to their feet as one of the crowd favorites makes his way to the ring to try to earn a X Division Title match. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Winner Gets X Division Title Match at Destination X Scott Steiner vs. Eric Young This match didn’t look even on paper, and it sure didn’t look even in person. Young spent most of the match trying to escape Steiner, but that didn’t work because Steiner is still fairly quick, but he is even stronger. This allowed him to throw Young around the ring like a ragdoll. He then put the Steiner Recliner on Young, but at this time Kip James made his way out to the ring. Steiner got up and started yelling at Kip, then all of a sudden he was rolled up by Young and the referee counted to three, giving Young the title match. Winner: Eric Young Match Time: 6:31 Match Rating: C -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The camera goes backstage, where Christian Cage and Samoa Joe are heading towards the ring for their main event tag match up next. They exchange some words, and give each other a handshake, making an alliance for just long enough to make it through tonight’s match. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Samoa Joe and Christian Cage vs. Kurt Angle and AJ Styles Styles reluctantly started this match off against Samoa Joe, and after he avoided a Joe kick, Styles looked pretty sure of himself, but when he turned back around Joe nearly decapitated him with a clothesline. He threw Styles into the corner and then unloaded on him. Christian then told Joe that he wanted some of AJ, and he came in and got some revenge for Styles costing him the World Title last month. He then sat AJ up for the Unprettier, but AJ was able to get out of it then drill the Pele Kick. He was able to tag in Angle, who gave German Suplexes to everybody who got in his way. Angle and Styles then traded tags for several minutes as they isolated Cage. Christian eventually got the hot tag into Samoa Joe, and he came in and took Styles straight out of the ring and went to work on Angle. Styles took this opportunity to slide the World Title into Angle, and as Karen Angle distracted the referee Kurt unloaded on Samoa Joe with the title belt, and then covered him for the three count.
Good show mate, although I noticed you're ignoring Team 3D's weigh-in stipulation...
That's kind of by design. I figure they can help the tag team division much more than the X-Division, and it doesn't make much since for the weigh-in storyline to stick around if they are done with the X Division. It's one of the changes I decided to make when I started. And to jump in for Shark Boy conversation. I think there is a place for comedy in wrestling, and I'm keeping Shark Boy in. What I was talking about was stupid storylines that end up in "crazy" matches that seem to last for ever and go nowhere. So the comedy will stay, but expect it to have impact on storylines, unlike what they do now.

TNA Impact airs on Spike TV with another great main event this week. It will feature AJ Styles facing off with the number one contender to the World Heavyweight Championship, Samoa Joe. And word has it that Jim Cornette has a special stipulation for this match ready, and he will be announcing it to AJ and the rest of the world at the beginning of Impact Thursday. Without Tomko at Impact due to Japanese obligations, can AJ be victorious on his own? The man that will face Samoa Joe at Destination X, the World Champion Kurt Angle will also be in action. Angle will face off with the man from the Latino Nation, Homicide. Angle is the heavy favorite coming into this match, but you can't underestimate how good Homicide has become, and he will have the Latino Nation in his corner as usual. Robert Roode will also be in action this week, while Booker sits at home in Houston and recovers from the beating that Roode gave him on Impact last week. The big announcement regarding TNA's newest acquisition will also be made, and a debut date will be set.

AJ Styles Jim, what is this? Why do I have to be the one to face Samoa Joe? Kurt’s the one that has to wrestle him at Destination X, make Kurt be the one to get in the ring with him, not me. Jim Cornette AJ, you are wrestling Samoa Joe for a couple of reasons. First off, you two can put on a great match and up the ratings of Impact. Secondly, I just want to watch you squirm like the worm that you are. But the main one is that this match is a test. If you win the match with Samoa Joe tonight, then you get Destination X off and you are welcome to be in Kurt Angle’s corner when he takes on Joe at Destination X for the championship. But if you lose, then you are barred from ringside in that championship match, and you’ll have a little match of your own at Destination X….against Christian Cage! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Christian Cage vs. James Storm w/ Jackie Moore Christian came to the ring with a smirk on his face, knowing that he can walk out of Impact with a win to his name tonight, along with the fact that he might finally get his hands on AJ Styles at Destination X. He faced a very tough opponent in ‘Cowboy’ James Storm though, but it seemed that Storm had something else on his mind, most notably his upcoming Elevation X match with Rhino. Cage dominated most of the match with the crowd behind him, which was a change from recent months. Storm came out of nowhere and tried a Superkick, but Cage ducked it then nailed the Unprettier to get the victory. Winner: Christian Cage Match Time: 13:49 Match Rating: B ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ After the match Storm was recovering from the beating he just took and looked up to see Christian Cage celebrating his victory with a big smile on his face. He then rolled to ringside and grabbed his signature beer bottle. He got back up into the ring and stood behind Cage, ready to smash the bottle into his face. Just as Christian jumped down Storm was ready to unleash it, but all of a sudden Storm’s opponent for this weekend’s Elevation X Match, Rhino appeared in the ring and Gored Storm, sending the bottle flying harmlessly onto the floor. As Storm rolled out of the ring in pain Cage said thank you to his long time friend Rhino. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The camera goes into a hallway of the Impact Zone, and the first ever TNA Knockout’s Champion Gail Kim is preparing for her upcoming match with the Voodoo Queen, Roxxi Laveaux. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Gail Kim vs. Roxxi Laveaux Gail Kim had the strong crowd response coming into this match, and she stared off on fire as she took the Voodoo Queen down several times with great dropkicks and clotheslines. Roxxi had one thing that Gail didn’t though, and it became apparent when Gail went for a twisting neckbreaker. Roxxi looked Gail in the face and spit green mist right in her eyes, and that gave her the upper hand. She dominated Kim, then scooped her up for a running powerslam, but Gail slipped out and took Roxi down with a bulldog. Gail then headed up top where she drilled a Missile Dropkick and got the three count. Winner: Gail Kim Match Time: 8:49 Match Rating: C ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The action then shifts to the interview area of the Impact Zone, and TNA World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle has something to say about his opponent at Destination X, Samoa Joe. Kurt Angle Joe, me and you have a storied history, there’s no doubting that. But do you remember what happened last time we met with championship gold on the line? That’s right, I beat you in the middle of the ring. Joe, everybody already knows it, I’m the greatest wrestler to ever walk the face of the earth. Nobody is going to beat me for this championship, especially not some fat Samoan. This Sunday will see me walk all over you again, and I’ll walk out of Destination X still the World Heavyweight Champion. It’s real, it’s damn real! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ After Kurt Angle walks away from the promo area, Team 3D walks up in front of the camera and begins their statement on the men they will face at Destination X, the Motorcity Machine Guns. Brother Ray Machine Guns, we hear you are about to be in action. Me and my brother are going to sit back and watch you get embarrassed before you get destroyed at the hands of the greatest tag team in TNA history at the pay-per-view this Sunday. I mean look at you guys, you are just pipsqueeks. We could have snapped you in half by now if we wanted, but we are up for competition. But this Sunday we are done toying with you, and we will destroy you! Brother Devon Oh my brother, testify! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Motorcity Machine Guns vs. Shark Boy and Curry Man It seems Shark Boy and Curry Man have patched things up, but they face a very tough task as they take on one of the fastest rising teams in wrestling, the Motorcity Machine Guns. Sabin and Shelley used their trademark stiff kicks on both men, and Shark Boy was none too pleased by this. He got up and threw Sabin in the corner and decided to stomp a mudhole in Sabin, and the crowd went crazy as he did it. The fans were split in the match, but they seemed to be behind the Guns a little bit more, and this carried them to a flurry of offense, then they hit the double enzuguri on Shark Boy to pick up the victory. Winners: Motorcity Machine Guns Match Time: 8:33 Match Rating: C+ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The camera goes to the locker room, and Christian Cage is seen packing his wrestling gear up after another night of action. He then looks into the camera and begins to address AJ Styles. Christian Cage AJ, when you found out that if you lose you have to face me you looked a little scared. Well let me tell you something AJ, you should be scared. If you lose this match tonight then you’ll have to face off with the Instant Classic at Destination X, and I will get revenge for what you did to me last month, mark my words AJ, I will hurt you. So be afraid AJ, be very afraid. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Homicide w/ LAX vs. Kurt Angle w/ Karen Angle LAX made their way to the ring, and the crowd cheered Homicide very loudly as Hernandez and Salinas got him geared up for the biggest match of his TNA career. Kurt Angle then came out and stared a hole into Homicide, but it did not intimidate him and he went right after the World Champion. He caught Angle off guard with how fast he actually is, but Kurt Angle isn’t the champion for nothing. After a few minutes he caught Homicide and used him for a suplexing dummy. He hit about every suplex imaginable, then let out a loud scream, demonstrating his dominance. Homicide went out and got himself composed then came back in, and after some short offense from Homicide, Angle was able to reverse a move into the Angle Slam, then the Ankle Lock, causing Homicide to tap out. Winner: Kurt Angle Match Time: 12:43 Match Rating: B ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ When Impact comes back from commercial the announcers send it to Houston, Texas, where Booker T is sitting in his home caring to his wife, and also recovering from the brutal assault that he received at the hands of Robert Roode last week on Impact. Booker T Robert Roode, me and you have some problems. I came into TNA to get away from where I was, and I came into the company in a good mood. Then you have to go and break Sharmell’s jaw. That was bad enough, and then you pile on by jumping me on Impact last week. Roode, you are going to pay. I’m ready to go this weekend, and you better be too, because at Destination X it’s going to be me versus you in the middle of that ring, and you are going to receive ten times worse than what you’ve gave to my family. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Jay Lethal vs. Robert Roode w/ Ms. Peyton Banks The X Division Champion came to the ring to a big ovation, and Robert Roode received an equally as loud booing spurt from the fans. Lethal took it to Roode early and often, showing why he is X Division Champion. Roode is bigger and stronger though, and he showed why he is a contender for the World Title. He slowed Lethal’s game down considerably and wore him out with some quality submission holds. Lethal refused to give up though, and he fought back into the match as the fans chanted his name. He took down Roode with a big double axe handle, then he went back up for his flying elbow, but Peyton Banks got up on the apron, causing Lethal to become distracted. Roode then got up and pulled Lethal off the ropes and nailed him with the Roode Awakening to gain the victory. Winner: Robert Roode Match Time: 10:39 Match Rating: C+ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The camera goes backstage where Kip James is sitting in his locker room, and then the door flies open and Scott Steiner rushes in. Scott Steiner Kip, what the hell were you thinking when you caused me my title shot last week? Are you just jealous because I was part of one of the most successful teams off all time and you are just one of the most overrated? Kip James Overrated? I carried that team for ten years. I finally kicked that bum BG to the curb not too long ago, and I’m out to make a name for myself Scott. And what better way than to go for the big dog in the yard? And you’re the big dog Scott. Scott Steiner So you want to come after me, that’s going to be the biggest mistake you’ve ever made. You know what Kip, I’ll meet you in the ring at Destination X, and you will pay. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The camera goes to ringside, where Mike Tenay and Don West are ready for the announcement regarding TNA’s newest acquisition. Mike Tenay This week TNA Mobile subscribers received news that TNA was on the verge of signing a former Tag Team Champion, and that’s just we have done. We are pleased to announce that Nick “Eugene” Dinsmore has signed with TNA Wrestling. Don West That’s right Mike. Mr. Dinsmore is a great wrestler who is coming into TNA to try to make an impact on a place that can appreciate his great wrestling talent, and we understand that Mr. Dinsmore is looking to shed any character casting that people might have in their minds about him. And he will debut next week on Impact as my partner Mike will introduce him to the Impact Zone. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Samoa Joe vs. AJ Styles Styles came into this match apprehensively, but he knew that he had to come out successfully if he wanted to be in Angle’s corner. He went after Samoa Joe with a series of stiff kicks, and as he stood out of breath after this flurry Samoa Joe just stared at him with a smile then about took his head off with a clothesine. Joe then took him down several more times, then slammed all his weight down on AJ’s chest with a senton. Joe continued the assault with some hard chops, kicks, and punches to Styles, then he forced him in the corner and he decided to go for the boot smash to the face, but Styles was able to move out of the way. AJ then used his very fast paced style to stay on top of Samoa Joe, and things were looking up that he would be victorious. He started to get a big head later on in the match, and he decided to open up the aerial attack. This was a big problem though because Joe crotched him on the top rope, then nailed the Muscle Buster, and followed up with the Koquina Clutch, and AJ was quickly tapping. Winner: Samoa Joe Match Time: 10:54 Match Rating: B- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ After the match Samoa Joe celebrated his victory and headed down the tunnel after a hard fought victory, leaving AJ in the ring distraught that Kurt Angle must fight the match at Destination X alone. Then the other stipulation dawned on him as the music of the man he now face at Destination X hit, Christian Cage. Christian stood on the stage and had a big smile on his face as AJ Styles looked like he was on the verge of a major breakdown.
