Ring of Fire: The Wheel Turns

Recommended Posts

From www.ringoffire.com It's the last Fighting Fit before the first Pay-Per-View of the year, and between the two shows Tuesday night sees the end of the Commonwealth Cup and a number of other clashes! Tuesday's action will include: ---Fighting Fit--- w/ vs. vs. British Samurai vs. Billy Robinson vs. Leo Price for the ROF TV Championship The Samurai is still sitting pretty with the belt and the lady. Recent Cup loser Billy Robinson is looking for his third stint with the belt while Leo Price wants to be recognised as the tough competitor he is - so everything's on the line as Fighting Fit takes to the air. Price is hungry for his first taste of Ring of Fire gold, and may well sate that hunger... vs. Cup Quarter-Final 1: Buff Martinez vs. Mario Heroic Last year these two men engaged in one of the most intense rivalries Ring of Fire broadcast, earning both men international recognition as some of the best of the year. Buff's been away from Ring of Fire for some time - can the duo recreate that magic as they face off again, and if so - who'll come out on top this time? vs. Quarter-Final 2: Art Reed vs. UK Dragon It's last year's Commonwealth Cup winner against the man who held the most prestigious championship Britain and Europe have to offer for most of 2012. Should he reach all the way, the Dragon will gain his first shot against the man who defeated him for that gold; Art, on the other hand, will have his sights set on a first reign on top of the world. vs. Quarter-Final 3: Davis Wayne Newton vs. Joey Beauchamp Two multi-time ROF Champions, both of them with championship pedigree elsewhere. Two friends. Tension has built between them over the last month owing to Don Henderson's refusal to accept Davis' title challenge for the Commonwealth Games; the luck of the draw - and Joey's winning the chance to select his first-round opponent - has placed them against each other. The Triple Threat takes on the Perpetual Motion Machine, and anything can happen as both men look toward a tournament title neither man has ever won. vs. Quarter-Final 4: Axxis Jr vs. Nigel Svensson The Iron Luchador is no stranger to British wrestling but a newcomer to the Ring of Fire scene. He looks to make a statement Tuesday night; against him, the Wigan-trained Swede who set people talking with a phenomenal 2012 including two lengthy TV Championship reigns. Nigel looks to cement his place in contendership for the biggest title we offer here, and so does Axxis Jr. Only one of them can make it through to... ---Commonwealth Games--- vs. The Professionals vs. East & West for the ROF Tag Championship Since joining up with returning ROF alumnus Greg Gauge last summer, Ernest Youngman has gone from being perceived as a weak competitor to one-half of the current tag team champions. Both men are young, hungry and very, very good - but they face East & West; Marc Speed, an excellent technical wrestler who knows some devastating submission holds and Nichiren Amagawa, described by some as the greatest submission expert currently wrestling. Speed and Amagawa are multi-time champions and will be looking to add another title reign to that count. Semi-Final A: Winner of 1 vs. Winner of 2 Semi-Final B: Winner of 3 vs. Winner of 4 Commonwealth Cup Final: Winner of Semi-Final A vs. Winner of Semi-Final B w/ vs. w/ Don Henderson w/ Nadia Snow vs. Human Arsenal w/ Wanda Fish for the ROF Championship A match born from respect, reigning champion Don Henderson passed over Davis Wayne Newton to offer a title shot to the only man who has never been defeated in a ROF Championship bout. Henderson has held every title Ring of Fire offers today, some multiple times; he won the inaugural Commonwealth Cup tournament and ended the Year of the Dragon last November at Champions League. By contrast, Human Arsenal has been with Ring of Fire only a year, losing his appearance at the last Commonwealth Games against Davis Wayne Newton - another match made from respect. But since then he has racked up a staggering win/loss record, proving himself as a challenger for the grandest of titles within six months and earning the respect of wrestling fans worldwide.

ROF: Fighting Fit Tuesday Week 3 January 2013 Thames Valley Corner (Southern UK) 16288 in attendance RATING: 0.53 w/ vs. vs. British Samurai vs. Billy Robinson vs. Leo Price for the ROF TV Championship Better. Not good enough, but better. Sammy continues to grow as a technical wrestler – as you'd expect, considering who he's been working with – but considering they only had fifteen minutes to work with (to prevent Leo gassing out) the results were pretty good. Double-P continues to work well with Sammy, making a lot of the punishment he took from the other two seem even nastier, and the fisherman's suplex to Leo got a decent pop as a result. Sammy manages, barely, to retain... A lukewarm reception; I doubt the crowd expected either man to win. RATING: C vs. Quarter-Final 1: Buff Martinez vs. Mario Heroic A lukewarm reception for the match, too; the chemistry really wasn't there – I guess Buff's nine months away have lost him and Mario that connection they used to have. Can't be helped, though, and it's not like this will be a problem again any time soon. The El KO finishes in Buff's favour after a fairly weak bout. Buff Martinez defeated Mario Heroic by pinfall RATING: C The next hype video picked the crowd up more than a little; Art Reed. UK Dragon. Two men the fans have to believe can win; Art held the trophy last year, and Dragon is clearly someone looking to re-enter the championship race fully. Good reactions here... RATING: B- vs. Quarter-Final 2: Art Reed vs. UK Dragon Well, this was damn good stuff. Art and Reed set themselves up opposite each other and just went for it in a fast-paced technical display. On commentary we discussed the strategy here, with both men clearly going for a fast shock pin to preserve energy for the semi-finals. Dragon was trying bigger and bigger tricks as the timer ticked past ten minutes; Art, in contrast, slowed down, making his moves careful, targeted, and efficient. In the end Dragon went for a flying clothesline that Art turned into an armdrag takedown and then further into the Dread Lock, scoring an exhausting win. Art Reed defeated UK Dragon by submission RATING: B The third video of the evening mixed in a little of the dissension between Davis Wayne Newton and Joey Beauchamp from the start of the month, getting a still bigger crowd reaction. The fans seem about ready to explode already... RATING: B vs. Quarter-Final 3: Davis Wayne Newton vs. Joey Beauchamp As ever, these two just threw everything they had into it. At times a one-upmanship contest, at times a technical struggle for a pinfall or submission hold, and at times a simple brawl, both men seemed to know exactly when the crowd wanted them to shift gears, and the peak hit at the right time; a massive suicide dive from Joey wiped both of them out, leaving them fallen on the outside as the time limit ticked over. Draw. Davis Wayne Newton drew with Joey Beauchamp when the time limit elapsed RATING: A vs. And the night's final hype video, next (why yes, the Cup is formula. No shocks there, right?) Nigel Svensson – an outside chance who'd piqued interest with an excellent match on Sunday, and who had spent the past year obviously being groomed to push forward – and the newcomer Axxis Jr, a man who's already being labelled one of our top players. Decent pop, therefore... RATING: B- vs. Quarter-Final 4: Axxis Jr vs. Nigel Svensson One's a luchador. One's a Wigan-style hook and shoot specialist. The two styles are not ones that overlap greatly, but Ring of Fire has managed to make a virtue out of that mix over the last six years. Not so much here – in addition to the style clash, these two were utterly unable to click in the ring at any point, their timings being nonexistent together. And yet, despite that, such was the talent of these two that it matched up to Art/Dragon as a very, very solid match. It ran just over nineteen minutes before the Gravity Axxisault finally secured the newcomer a place in... actually, a place in the finals, with Davis and Joey having ruled each other out! Axxis Jr defeated Nigel Svensson by pinfall RATING: B Before the show went off the air the cameras went backstage. Davis and Joey were embroiled in a furious argument, Joey claiming Davis should've opted out of the Cup altogether since he couldn't get that shot from Don, Davis arguing that he deserved the shot as much as Joey – and Joss Thompson joined them, furious at the fact that none of them now had the chance to lay hands on the Cup this year. They arranged to settle their differences in the time that would've been taken up by the semi-final Davis and Joey have caused not to happen on the PPV. RATING: B Another 'good enough' show for now. Still, it's also the go-home, and the PPV should hopefully be significantly better. OVERALL: B

ROF: Commonwealth Games Tuesday Week 3 January 2013 Thames Valley Corner (Southern UK) 16288 in attendance BUYRATE: 0.69 Estimated attendance and actual attendance are starting to diverge radically, which is not good for our finances. We kick off the show with a hype video for The Professionals' title defence against East and West. Not a brilliant reception, but it could be worse. RATING: C+ vs. The Professionals vs. East & West for the ROF Tag Championship A good solid showing in the opener, as all four men worked hard at this. With the time limit removed for pay-per-view, the tag teams really seem to feel as if I've taken a major restriction off them. This one, for example, nearly hit twenty-six minutes before the Proton Lock showed Marc Speed that they're now facing a team that can work submissions confidently too. Good solid stuff and the champs look good. The Professionals defeated East & West when Greg Gauge made Marc Speed submit RATING: B Backstage, Axxis Jr takes the microphone. Word has it he's excellent, and his time with UKW has given him a remarkable command of the English language. He opens his mouth and, with a flair, lays out his career to date, concentrating on the respect he's earned from his peers, his remarkable reputation... and the fact he's never held gold at the top level. He promises that changes tonight, and the fans respond to the passion in his voice. RATING: B vs. vs. Davis Wayne Newton vs. Joey Beauchamp vs. Joss Thompson Hmm. Something a little unfortunate going on here, I think; my suspicion is that Joss has weak chemistry with one of his opponents. Still, with twenty-five minutes they still do a pretty good job in the ring of getting the crowd interested, and Joss – the freshest man tonight by far – capitalises off a missed Breeze Block and lands the Clean Cutter on Davis for a solid win. Joss Thompson defeated Davis Wayne Newton and Joey Beauchamp when he pinned Davis Wayne Newton RATING: B- Joey immediately gets in Joss' face in a screaming argument. Davis, coming up behind him, tries to calm it down before eating a vicious DDT from Joey. Joss, having seen enough, rolls out of the ring in disgust – and a remarkable pop, as friction within this stable continues to get the crowd fired up. RATING: B+ vs. Semi-Final: Art Reed vs. Buff Martinez Not too bad; just solid, dependable stuff by both men that ended, as so many matches have in the past week, with the Dread Lock forcing his rival to submit. Buff's tenure with us comes to an end, for a while at least, and Art continues to build momentum. Art Reed defeated Buff Martinez by pinfall RATING: B Backstage, Wanda Fish did her best to put Human Arsenal over for the title match. It may simply be that she's not yet established enough, but it wasn't well-received. RATING: D vs. Commonwealth Cup Final: Art Reed vs. Axxis Jr In contrast to the semi-final, this was beautiful stuff. Art's pure athlete background gives him astonishing stamina, and we all know the legends of the Iron Luchador. As such they both had plenty in their tank here to make this a hard-fought twenty-five minutes with the crowd going crazy as it went. Toward the end Art focused on Axxis' legs, keeping him off balance and unable to fly effectively, before working up a focus on the arms that culminated in a huge pop for the Dread Lock. Great stuff. Art Reed defeated Axxis Jr by submission RATING: A After a long moment, Axxis Jr picks himself up, rolling his shoulder and testing his arm gingerly, before offering his hand to the newly-crowned champion Art Reed. The Ring of Fire crowd repay my faith by proving they like respect between competitors. RATING: B Just before the main event, we put in one last hype video recapping Don Henderson's history with the promotion. RATING: B w/ vs. w/ Don Henderson w/ Nadia Snow vs. Human Arsenal w/ Wanda Fish for the ROF Championship Just under half an hour left on the card meant we could be pretty confident of a good match from these two, and they definitely got stuck in hard and fast. Notable sequences in there included Arsenal stringing together a suplex, stalling vertical suplex, butterfly suplex, gutwrench suplex, and finally a northern lights suplex only to see Don kick out as well as Don countering a rare foray to the top rope by Arsenal by springing up after him and hitting a spectacular looking spinebuster for two. In the end, with all else tried, Don caught a charge into the tilt-a-whirl powerbomb and stepped through into the Scottish Deathlock, forcing Arsenal at last to tap out. Don Henderson defeated Human Arsenal by submission RATING: A Lovely stuff overall; I'm confident that this was the kind of PPV performance to keep us moving forward. OVERALL: A

From www.ringoffire.com... With the Commonwealth Cup decided for another year it's time to look forward once again to the next month. The card for School of Tradition now boasts a title match; with the final European Showcase of January we may see more matches made. We'll also see: w/ vs. British Samurai (w/ Phoebe Plumridge) vs. Petey Barnes for the ROF TV Championship British Samurai's been champion now for nearly a full month; he'll be looking to continue that reign well into February. Petey Barnes, meanwhile, is still hoping to pick up that last title he needs to have held everything that Ring of Fire has to offer. While this looks like a technical match, don't underestimate either man's ability to step to the edge of the rules and dish it out - both of these men have held gold in MOSC. vs. Dos Phoenix vs. Extraordinary Men Dos Phoenix are accomplished legends of lucha libre. Tag team and trios champions in OLLIE multiple times, Phoenix II also ended the feud against the Swarm, picking up another Trios reign alongside Swarm II and the Great Hisato. Phoenix III, meanwhile, has been the top champion in both OLLIE and SOTBPW. No one can doubt their ability or their reputation. The warriors known as Extraordinary Men are younger but barely less decorated; with two Ring of Fire tag reigns to their credit, El Heroe Mexicano has also risen to the top in MPWF while Extraordinario Jr has held trios gold in SOTBPW and TV gold here and with the lamented Japanese promotion EXODUS2010. This promises to be a lucha libre bout on a par with anything you'll see in Mexico. vs. vs. KC Glenn vs. Nate Johnson vs. Nigel Svensson Two former TV champions in Johnson and Svensson here, with Nigel having held the title twice and Johnson's reign ended only by Japanese legend Burning EXILE. Their opponent, KC Glenn, is young and looking for his first taste of gold in professional wrestling - but he's already been recognised by wrestling journalists as one to watch, achieving 92 in last year's hot 100. The winner of this match will face the TV champion - whoever that may be by then - on Tuesday's Fighting Fit. vs. Jonathan Faust vs. Leo Price Leo Price was denied the TV championship just on Tuesday. Jonathan Faust considers himself beyond the TV belt but was not entered into the Commonwealth Cup tournament. Both men feel they have everything to prove as a result. Both men have worked for almost all the promotions the UK has to offer - the exceptions being the newest companies, ones made since they entered their exclusive Ring of Fire contracts. They've had to shine on many different stages and in many different styles. This match could go in either direction very easily... vs. Mario Heroic & Daniel Black Francis vs. Joey Beauchamp & Bulldozer Brandon Smith Solid performances from Mario Heroic during the Cup have led him to set his sights on higher things. Daniel Black Francis appears to have decided 2013 is when he starts his drive to greatness. Their opponents here are only loosely aligned through Joss Thompson's friendship, but present a formidable obstacle. A win over them would place Mario and Daniel in high acclaim; a loss would leave Joey and Brandon with leverage in Thompson's little clique, leverage that could result in Joey finding no opposition from Joss or Davis to challenge for the title... While Art's challenge at School of Tradition is set in stone, the events of this match may help determine who challenges in March...

Something I've been meaning to say, by the way - I'm happy to give detailed updates on what's happened since 2007 to specific wrestlers or promotions on request. The world's a very different one now... one where Lobster Warrior has held the top prize in SWF and DaVE and left them both behind. One where Elmo Benson has sat atop the SWF realm for months before dominating CGC and moving into the Stones territory, where Hell's Bouncer has climbed to the top of USPW and CZCW and looks to be reaching the peak in SWF soon, and where Jack Bruce eschewed certain TCW glory to go to North of the Border and languish in near-obscurity, and where T-Rex can be recognised as Richard Eisen's top champion. And it's a world where Tommy Cornell hasn't held a title in four years, and Sean McFly hasn't in three. Christian Faith doesn't work in the United States anymore. Let me know if you're interested.

ROF: European Showcase Sunday Week 4 January 2013 Ostrava Arena (Central Europe) 2000 in attendance RATING: 0.55 w/ vs. British Samurai vs. Petey Barnes for the ROF TV Championship Y'know... this wasn't bad. Sammy's putting on the occasional piece of excellence, but just not often enough at the moment – and this was good, but not great. Still, some good work from Sammy, Petey, and Phoebe and Sammy continues a solid winning streak, finally felling Petey with the fisherman's suplex. It's definitely good enough for an opener, but I'm hoping for more. British Samurai defeated Petey Barnes by pinfall RATING: B- Axxis Jr is backstage next and spends a while putting over Art Reed as a competitor. It comes off... OK, but not as well as I might hope. RATING: C vs. Dos Phoenix vs. Extraordinary Men Holy crap – this was phenomenal. Four hard-working luchadors embodying the best of veteran lucha libre and upcoming stars, and they uncorked it all. Maybe it's just that all four men are peeved at having had short shrift in the tag ranks of late, but they blew the Ostrava crowd away – and, likely, the TV crowd as well. Extraordinario got the pin following the Mexican Standoff to Phoenix III, but there were nineteen minutes of excellence on the way there. Extraordinary Men defeated Dos Phoenix when Extraordinario Jr pinned Phoenix III RATING: A Davis Wayne Newton emerged from the back, microphone in hand, and informed Joey Beauchamp that as far as he was concerned, Tuesday's actions just made things worse for Joey – that this wasn't over. Good reaction again... These guys had sixteen minutes and really outpaced Sammy and Petey in their work, reminding me that the future of the TV division is, simply enough, that – the future. KC's taken some bad losses of late, but he redeems himself here, felling Nate Johnson and scoring a pinfall before Nigel can intercept. The veteran slips down the ranks a little and KC moves up... KC Glenn defeated Nate Johnson and Nigel Svensson when he pinned Nate Johnson RATING: B+ Backstage we were treated to a glimpse of Davis, Joey, and stablemates Joss Thompson, Bulldozer Brandon Smith and Jaime Quine engrossed in a massive argument over the various storms of fury. As much as anything, this was to give Brandon and Jaime a little more TV exposure and some rub from their colleagues. RATING: C+ vs. Jonathan Faust vs. Leo Price Both of these guys appear to be treating 2013 as their year to launch back into the top tier of Ring of Fire performers. This wasn't quite what I'd hoped – hindered by Leo's stamina limiting the time we could run it – but nonetheless it was good entertaining work and the fans were definitely responding. Faust eventually dealt Leo another loss via the Devil's Drop – and he's finally getting a pop here. Jonathan Faust defeated Leo Price by pinfall RATING: B vs. Mario Heroic & Daniel Black Francis vs. Joey Beauchamp & Bulldozer Brandon Smith Another short match, another that still kept the fans very happy. Mario got the pinfall over Brandon at the end, again with time determined by a wrestler's stamina – Daniel, in this case – but there was some fun work here, and the stable receives a small setback – while Mario continues a drive forward. Mario Heroic & Daniel Black Francis defeated Joey Beauchamp & Bulldozer Brandon Smith when Mario Heroic pinned Bulldozer Brandon Smith RATING: B vs. Art Reed & Axxis Jr vs. Davis Wayne Newton & Joss Thompson Davis keeps his hand in the title contention dispute while other recent unfortunates get to strut their stuff. In a main event only a couple of minutes longer than the prior match, these four took it a level beyond the earlier contest – which only makes sense, as in the prior match there were a couple of weaker workers in need of development, where here all four men are major players. Tempers flared and the match broke down inside seventeen minutes when all four men ended up in the ring and, unable to confine them, referee Humphrey Woolsey eventually resorted to having the match thrown out. They brawled into the closing credits and the fans went berserk. Art Reed & Axxis Jr drew with Davis Wayne Newton & Joss Thompson when the match was thrown out. RATING: A All things considered, then, a pretty sweet show that got the crowd properly engaged and, hopefully, will see us making strides in European popularity. Very satisfying. OVERALL: B+

From www.ringoffire.com We're live from Coventry Stadium this Tuesday for the first UK broadcast since the Commonwealth Games. With Art Reed lined up as our number one contender and the Highland Hitman still riding high, there's still so much to reach for across the company. In just over a week Ring of Fire will stage its first show on American soil and, with the USPW championships returning for our American tour, there are a great many title opportunities up for grabs. Making their cases on Tuesday are... vs. w/ The Disrespected vs. Pure Perfection All four of these men are former tag team champions, and almost all of them have held singles gold in Ring of Fire to boot. While they've been struggling to maintain their reputations of late, they've still got every chance of holding gold again in the future - and their paths could start here. w/ vs. vs. vs. British Samurai vs. Dean Daniels vs. KC Glenn vs. Petey Barnes for the ROF TV Championship With four men in action, anyone could take this. British Samurai has excelled in multi-man matches throughout the history of the company, but he faces a former three-time Ring of Fire champion and Commonwealth Cupwinner in Petey Barnes, in addition to former TV Champion and WLW star Dean Daniels and the up and coming youth KC Glenn who's still hunting his first taste of gold. It will not be easy. vs. vs. East and West vs. The Professionals vs. The Stunners It's not been an easy reign for the Professionals. While Greg Gauge and Ernest Youngman turned back the challenge of submission specialists East and West at the Games, both their last challengers and four-time champions The Stunners are high in the rankings - and either team could be the Professionals' next challengers. With the USPW tag titles soon to re-enter contention, too, former Coastal Zoners Marc Speed, Black Eagle and Bulldozer Brandon Smith will all be looking to be in position to take the Grissom Auditorium by storm. vs. Davis Wayne Newton vs. UK Dragon The Year of the Dragon ended sensationally last November, but with the single longest reign in Ring of Fire history against some of the toughest competition, UK Dragon is always a strong contender for selection at the top of the tree. At the same time, Davis Wayne Newton is nursing both dreams of championship gold and an apparent grudge against stablemate Joey Beauchamp. Both men have motivation to win and they've turned up trumps with Matches of the Year together before; this is sure to be impressive. Our Championship Committee have reserved the main event. Citing the need to provide as many of our top contenders with the chance to show their stuff before British Invasion next week, committee chairman Terry Roberts, referee Humphrey Woolsey, owner British Samurai and backstage advisor Optimus have decreed that the main event will be determined at the show by the actions of our top contenders; those with the desire to shine will be given the chance to prove they deserve to.

Just caught up with your diary... gotta say, I'm not usually excited to read on pure wrestling companies, but this one does justice. I'm really happy to see Keith Adams get some work, as I love that guy and he never seems to get picked up. Been trying to find some wiggle room to bring him into EWA, but right now I'm just too busy with trying to keep the money flowing in and building who I currently have. But I remember I created a UK fed once and ended up giving him a massive push. However, I am saddened in your game world EWA is run by that bastard Gil Thomas. Words can't describe the level of hatred I have for that man. I remember in 07 when my friend's fed got bought by Larry Wood... and I got Gil Thomas. Fair it was not. And Steve Flash hasn't retired?! Insanity. Gotta love it when your 40 plus year olds stick around forever (I remember a USPW game of mine where Demon Spite wrestled into his 50s... never retired) Curious, how long did it take you to get up to National from Small?
Just caught up with your diary... gotta say, I'm not usually excited to read on pure wrestling companies, but this one does justice. Words can't describe the level of hatred I have for that man. I remember in 07 when my friend's fed got bought by Larry Wood... and I got Gil Thomas. Fair it was not.
Keith's handy. I only brought him in to serve as Edward Cornell's tag partner, but he's just become a useful trooper to have around the tag scene. I doubt he'll ever climb the stars, but the business needs those midcarders. He did two and a half years without missing a UK Indy show before I finally signed him; he's since a three-time tag champ between us and our development fed. EWA formed just after what I think of as The Big Crash, when 21CW and UCR both collapsed in short order - BPW, CWW, and EWA all sprang up within weeks of each other. CWW's now on the rocks financially, BPW's got the same problem 21CW had - it needs overness and anyone over gets hired by UKW and ends up beyond its limits - and the EWA won't be happy with me, as I edited in UEW to give it a challenger at the start of the transfer to 2008. (I also added in FCW, PSW, APW and XWA, just to shake things up a bit.)
And Steve Flash hasn't retired?! Insanity. Gotta love it when your 40 plus year olds stick around forever (I remember a USPW game of mine where Demon Spite wrestled into his 50s... never retired)
Not yet, but he's the top of my Time Decline list, clocking in at an estimated 14 years past his prime. He's had three title reigns from me thus far, all midcard or tag, and remains insanely useful. His issue is that I run 20 minute time limits and Steve can't go all out for longer than 15 now, so he's in trouble from that perspective. On the other hand, he's Steve freakin' Flash, and he's now actually more over in the UK than the USA.
Curious, how long did it take you to get up to National from Small?
Around four and a half to five years. It would probably have taken longer without UKW; for a long time about half our main events were intermingled and picking up a lot more experience. (The only guy they never signed was Don Henderson, a man known during TEW07 as McLuger.) My big issue then became the folks I couldn't re-sign; Edward Cornell, Matthew Gauge, Buff Martinez and Merle O'Curle. The two biggest losses in that list are Matthew and Merle, but it was a shame to lose any of them.

ROF: Fighting Fit Tuesday Week 1 February 2013 Coventry City Stadium (Midlands UK) 3258 in attendance RATING: 0.56 vs. w/ The Disrespected vs. Pure Perfection Steve Flash is one of the oldest men left on the roster. He's well past his golden era. And he's still a fantastic wrestler. The current plan is to get the most out of him for some time before, eventually, sending him to CPW as a teacher. At that point I expect him to shine in a new role. For now, though, he shows that he can still work with the best of them as he lands the Flash Bang out of nowhere on Keith Adams, scoring a pinfall and moving Pure Perfection a notch ahead in the tag standings. Keith looks to be getting the most out of his time in opposition to Steve; his fundamentals are tightening up. Sammy was unable to reach the deciding pinfall in time as KC wiped out Dean, scoring the title from the company owner in one of the best matches of Sammy's reign. Here's hoping KC can keep that roll going. Though, as we'll see Sunday, he'll have help. The crowd popped big all the way through here, as these six men, some of whom have faced off in tag competition for four years, began to imitate each others' tag double-teams, with Greg Gauge standing in for Black Eagle on the Stunners fallaway slam/legdrop combo, say, or Brandon doubling for Nichiren with the second-rope kneedrop onto a tightly-applied armbar by Marc – though Nichiren seldom follows up by kicking Marc in the face to break the hold. Davis has something to prove coming toward School of Tradition, and he set out to make that proof very, very clear here, with a great little technical showcase. The Newton's Cradle he uses can score a fall over anybody at any time through sheer shock value, and that's how the match ended – a quick and expert roll-up without room for Dragon to exploit. Davis keeps on going... They seem pretty happy with this. Axxis then ate an armbar takedown into the Dread Lock, tapping to the man who beat him at the Games to end the match. Art Reed defeated Axxis Jr, Don Henderson & Joey Beauchamp when he made Axxis Jr submit RATING: A Now that show was pretty much on fire, and exactly what we need on Tuesdays to keep Britain happy. Very good work all round. OVERALL: A

From www.ringoffire.com... Champions Forged In Fire With The British Invasion Year 1 coming up in less than two weeks, talk in the locker room has concentrated on the return of the USPW championship belts, belts which will be contested only in USA shows from Ring of Fire. The urge to be the first man to hold these belts in their new incarnation is a strong one, to cement your place in history - and we at ringoffire.com have seen a sneak peak at the new belts crafted by master beltsmith Payne. They're something to see, all right - but it turns out there's more than just revised USPW gold in Payne's workshop. Following his defeat and the loss of the TV Championship, Ring of Fire owner British Samurai has announced that there's "no time like the present to introduce the ROF European TV Championship, a companion belt to the original. Now the TV Championship will be defended exclusively on Fighting Fit while the European version will be seen only by viewers of European Showcase - and fans won't have to be saddened to miss a title changing hands due to an accident of geography again!" By owner's edict, the first European TV Champion is former ROF Champion British Samurai himself. KC Glenn's comments were essentially unprintable.

From www.ringoffire.com... February's shaping up to be one of the most eventful times in Ring of Fire history, and the first European Showcase of the month doesn't look to be any different. Coming from Omsk Hall this week, we've got a lot of action on tap... w/ vs. British Samurai vs. Byron for the ROF European TV Championship The inaugural title defence sees former three-time UCR World Combat Champion return to European TV. After UCR's 2011 collapse, the legendary ladykiller took a break from wrestling and it was only the call to tutor a new generation of wrestlers that called for a return, with Byron signing on to Cornerstone Professional Wrestling - but with the chance to steal British Samurai's title belt the first time anyone ever competed for it, he accepted our offer of talent exchange and Capitao Brasil Jr is now working with the CPW staff to step up his game. It's the icons of the old school European scene head to head tonight... As for Los Leyendas, they're still looking to find their forward momentum following Ultimate Phoenix' near career-ending injury, but these veterans of Mexico and Texas will want to put their best feet forward and secure a trip back for themselves... vs. vs. vs. Blood Raven vs. JD Morgan vs. Josh Jones vs. Leo Price A mix of styles and levels of experience here sees the less commonly spotlighted members of the Ring of Fire roster step back onto the screen and attempt to show why they deserve more of the limelight. A win can only help the lucky man move back into contention for Ring of Fire gold... vs. Jonathan Faust vs. Mario Heroic Jonathan Faust. Mario Heroic. Both names very familiar to Ring of Fire fans. Both associated with strong performances. And both men who can't quite rise to the top - at least, so far. This kind of frustration leads to challenges like this; every opening to prove oneself must be taken. Every step could be one closer to the top of the tree... vs. Don Henderson vs. Roy Edison After a gruelling four-man match Tuesday the champion threw out an open challenge to the roster. First to respond was Roy Edison, who some of our fans will remember from his time with the European USPW and more recently from Championship Wrestling from Wigan and UEW. Usually found in the tag division, Roy has a chance to vault up the rankings and make a name for himself tonight - and whatever happens, he'll have measured himself against the champion. If he still has to climb, he'll know how far. One of the most capable wrestlers to come out of America. And an American who has held gold in every British federation of note except for Ring of Fire and dazzled Canadian fans in CGC. America isn't far away and three of the continent's most talented sons face off here in advance. ROF: European Showcase Sunday Week 1 February 2013 Omsk Hall (Eastern Europe) 2000 in attendance RATING: 0.52 w/ vs. British Samurai vs. Byron for the ROF European TV Championship Yes, as announced on our website a couple of days ago, Sammy's split the TV championship into two flavours, one half of which he's keeping control of. He's not 100% happy with this storyline – a bit too Richard Eisen for him – but it's a decision I took out of plain necessity; the rise of any given TV champion happens too fast for them to keep up with. This allows us to hand the current champ occasional losses on the other show. To take the sting out of a faintly heelish action from Samurai, we've pulled former UCR #1 heel Byron back from developmental. If anyone can be the bigger arsehole in Europe, it's Byron, and he does his best here; it's not a good best, but as it's his debut for us and his first match with a half-decent promotion in years the match doesn't hold attention as well as it might, being only as well-received as the two dark matches previous. Sammy locks on the Samurai Stretch fourteen minutes in to retain. British Samurai defeated Byron by submission RATING: C KC Glenn appears and faces Samurai from the entrance ramp for a few moments before shaking his head in disgust and walking away. A weakish segment that's mostly there because we had to address the question at some point or make KC look weak; we likely won't do much with it for a while. RATING: C- vs. The Stunners vs. Los Leyendas Los Leyendas still have their European reputation from our old USPW days, and that always helps. They're back to building up their rep by good losses, sadly, which means that the outcome here is obvious – particularly when you consider that we're going back to the States within the month and the Stunners have a major US pedigree. Still, these fifteen minutes tell me that Phoenix is continuing to redevelop his old tricks – I think it's mostly just having the confidence in his spine again – and Black Eagle is, as ever, picking up new tricks of his own. The tag division's fantastic for Eagle; most of it involves people who come at his style from different angles. New ideas are everywhere and the veteran's savvy enough to absorb them without really even thinking about it. Here, though, it's Bulldozer who gets the pin; after a short but effective high-flying heat sequence, Eagle manages the wild tag out of nowhere to Brandon. As he steps through the ropes, Eagle wheels and monkey flips Ultimate Phoenix toward his partner; Brandon catches him easily and powerslams him for the pin. The Stunners defeated Los Leyendas when Bulldozer Brandon Smith pinned Ultimate Phoenix RATING: B Art Reed was shown at the gym earlier that day, discussing his Cup win and the title match it granted him against Don Henderson. He noted, among other things, that he didn't intend to be denied twice. RATING: B- vs. vs. vs. Blood Raven vs. JD Morgan vs. Josh Jones vs. Leo Price The uncanny thing about JD Morgan is that, old as he is, he's still trying new things, and it really showed here as he was one of the major things holding this battle of the undercard together. They only had ten minutes and the contest didn't really have time to get going as well – plus, of course, they're the undercard for a reason; this was mostly about giving them TV time. Blood Raven comes out on the short end of the stick as Leo Price gets the Price Drop and secures a confident pinfall. Leo Price defeated Blood Raven, JD Morgan and Josh Jones when he pinned Blood Raven RATING: C- Following that, we ran a quickie hype video for Mario Heroic, testing the waters somewhere he's been fairly non-active. A lukewarm response only. RATING: C- vs. Jonathan Faust vs. Mario Heroic More work for Mario, as one of the key players in the TV title scene takes on the outlier on the main title scene. Basically this is part of my irregular test as to whether or not Mario should be pushed past Faust into the main event; the crowd were only fairly into it. I told them to build it slow and they did, and step things up in the last seven minutes. The final minute was fast and furious; reversals, counters, and near-falls all over the place. What I'll take away from this, though, is that Mario's getting better at throwing hands – working on one of his weaker areas. They eventually hit the time limit, which I think hurt the reception slightly. Jonathan Faust drew with Mario Heroic when the time limit elapsed RATING: B- vs. Don Henderson vs. Roy Edison Quickie filler match time – but this is Ring of Fire; that doesn't mean it wasn't good. More of the exposure program to get someone over here; Roy's done a fair amount of European work so I could be confident there'd be at least some fan reaction, and he was up against the champ. I knew this would be good for Roy, and it was; only ten minutes but the crowd ate it up, and Don got to slap the Scottish Deathlock on for the win. One downside to this; Roy went for the Patent Pending Roundhouse kick, and Don was a little slow ducking it. Maybe he wanted to actually give the guy a connecting finisher; I don't know. Whatever the case, it hit wrong, busting Don's nose open and, apparently, screwing with his vision a little. He tells me he can work through it, but it's still an irritant. Hopefully it'll be gone by the PPV. Don Henderson defeated Roy Edison by submission RATING: B vs. vs. Axxis Jr vs. Human Arsenal vs. Joss Thompson Well... not bad at all, but not as good as I'd hoped. Three pretty fast guys here, all of whom have a technical focus, all of whom can step up the pace... there were a lot of well-worked near falls. Joss finished with one of his favourite triple-threat spots; a Clean Cutter on Axxis Jr that also dropkicked Arsenal clear of the ring, allowing him to pin Axxis without interruption. Joss Thompson defeated Axxis Jr and Human Arsenal when he pinned Axxis Jr RATING: B We finished the show with a quick hype trailer for an event we're holding in the States. An event none of Europe will see. Why did we hype it here? Because ROF wrestlers will once again be bringing USPW belts to their matches now, and the fans deserve to know why. Criteria to be featured in the video were overness in Europe and in America, so it was a mixed bag. RATING: C+ Not bad at all; a good solid show to help us keep going. OVERALL: B

The full card will be available following Tuesday's broadcast of Fighting Fit - the card for which is coming soon - but for now... Human Arsenal's claim is a simpler one; he is the only clear contender in Ring of Fire who has never held significant singles gold, and yet he has one of the most impressive win/loss records in Ring of Fire history. If anyone has the motivation to show the American fans their true abilities, it's the TCW graduate.

As always, from www.ringoffire.com... The Tyne House is the venue this week for Fighting Fit. Thursday sees Ring of Fire reach America and we're two short weeks from the School of Tradition Pay-Per-View. So what's in store? w/ vs. British Samurai vs. Buddy Garner Following his tag partner's remarkable showing on Sunday, Buddy Garner has asked for a shot against a champion of his own - and so European TV Champion British Samurai has granted him this non-title contest. Garner has a phenomenal record in both MMA and professional wrestling, but has made few inroads in Britain. Will he begin his progress tonight, or can the three-time ROF Champion show him a little more of Ring of Fire's reputation? vs. KC Glenn vs. Billy Robinson for the ROF TV Championship KC Glenn has his work cut out for him here against the two-time TV Champion and two-time Tag Champion. Robinson held the first of the belts eventually unified into the TV Championship, too, back near the birth of the promotion; the Shooter is a tough man to beat and will give Glenn a major challenge. A win here could cement Glenn's place as a man to watch in the future. Between them they boast eight tag title reigns and nine singles title reigns spanning Mexico, Japan, and the UK. There's no way for this not to be a hard-fought match and, while Extraordinary Men have the superior record, the Disrespected are known for coming up with wins when you least expect it... How well that can work against another who uses the same trick is another question... vs. Art Reed vs. Joey Beauchamp Negotiations have been preceding apace, and with Art Reed set to face Human Arsenal for the USPW World Championship, Joey Beauchamp has been granted the chance to face Don Henderson for the ROF Championship at The British Invastion Year 1. These two title hopefuls clash tonight, looking to steal some momentum before their contests on Thursday - and this may foreshadow School of Tradition, as if Joey wins on Thursday Art's Ring of Fire title shot will pit the two against each other once more. vs. Axxis Jr vs. Davis Wayne Newton Davis Wayne Newton has reason to be unhappy with the idea Joey might be facing Art for at School of Tradition, though we're sure he'd be happy to challenge Joey for the title himself. Axxis Jr, on the other hand, will want to parlay his finalist effort at the Commonwealth Games into a title shot of his own - something that will be much easier if Davis doesn't stand in his way. This could decide a great deal about the candidates for title glory in the near future... and both men will expect to be in action on Thursday themselves. Quick Picks: British Samurai vs. Buddy Garner KC Glenn vs. Billy Robinson for the ROF TV Championship The Disrespected vs. Extraordinary Men Daniel Black Francis vs. Dean Daniels Art Reed vs. Joey Beauchamp Axxis Jr vs. Davis Wayne Newton

ROF: Fighting Fit Tuesday Week 2 February 2013 Tyne House 4742 in attendance RATING: 0.56 w/ vs. British Samurai vs. Buddy Garner After the success on Sunday of Don/Roy and Sammy/Byron I decided it was time to give Buddy a little more TV exposure. While his undercard position meant that the ending here was hardly in doubt, the fans definitely got into this contest – eating it up as much as many of Sammy's title defences without needing to place the belt on the line. Believe it or not, it's Buddy who looked like he learned the most from this quick opener, capped off by Sammy landing a vicious DDT for the win – something of a throwback to his performance in the many two-out-of-three-falls matches run in the early years, where the DDT would often get one of the falls to change the pace up a little. Not a great start, but not a bad one. We'll have to revisit this once Buddy's properly over. Mostly, to be honest, this is just about getting the buzz out online among British and European fans – the internet discussion might sell a couple more tickets Stateside. To his credit, though, KC picked up the pace in response and the whole thing consequently went down very well. The Sunshine Band felled Billy only after seventeen gruelling minutes; the champion looks good, Billy still looks dangerous, and we continue. KC Glenn defeated Billy Robinson by pinfall RATING: B vs. The Disrespected vs. Extraordinary Men El Heroe Mexicano has one flaw, and that flaw is that he doesn't always give a match all he could – I'm not talking in terms of ludicrous bumps here or anything career-shortening, just in terms of keeping up his pace during a match, tightening up his holds and keeping the right expression for the moment on his face. He is, thankfully, working on it, and we know that when he feels motivated he'll produce on the level we want – which helps. But here, as he was the man making the final pin, it hurt us, especially as his timing was slightly off on the stereo superkick the Extraordinary Men use as a finisher. Don't get me wrong; I'm not saying this match was bad – it lived up to the standard set by the previous bout, and Keith Adams is still making great strides. (I really regret, now, not hiring him earlier; if I'd known he had this kind of dedication in 2007 he might be a true money player by now). Still, it wasn't all it could have been. Extraordinary Men defeated The Disrespected when El Heroe Mexicano defeated Chojiro Kitoaji RATING: B Davis Wayne Newton was shown backstage next. In a segment I'm quietly hoping is YouTubed immediately, and which they'll mysteriously get no C&Ds on until after the first US show, he discussed his time with Coastal Zone, concentrating on a two-year tag championship reign during which he made... one defence. Because his partner was Jim Force, and Jim was Coastal Zone champion for much of that time and challenging for it the rest of the time, leaving Davis treading water, unable to make the name he needed to get the matches to stake a claim to his own title shot. He finishes by promising that when he returns to America he'll prove he had that claim and he'll make a name for himself. RATING: B- vs. Daniel Black Francis vs. Dean Daniels So it turns out that Dean's been training Daniel on the quiet, which I hadn't known when I booked this. Daniel's improved style fits right into Dean's work as a consequence, the two men sharing a remarkable chemistry in the ring that made this match excellent. Dean scored the win with a cradle piledriver to pick up some momentum going into our US show, but both men made me smile here. Dean Daniels defeated Daniel Black Francis by pinfall RATING: B Next up it was the turn of the Human Arsenal, ably aided by Wanda Fish. John took a slightly different tack to Davis; touching on the announcement that he'll be facing Art Reed for the USPW World Championship. He discusses TCW and DaVE and their styles, making this out to be a clash of dominant American wrestlers. YouTube this while you're about it, fans. RATING: B vs. Art Reed vs. Joey Beauchamp So Art has two title matches this month. Well, he needs to look good, then – and he really gets that chance, going up against Joey who also wanted to look good going into his own title challenge on the American show. This ran about seventeen minutes; the story was a simple one; this is how good Joey is, and this is Art beating him – so how good must Art be? The Dreadlock was the finisher in the end, and Art looked damn good applying it. Art Reed defeated Joey Beauchamp by submission RATING: A A pre-taped video aired next; Art, flanked by Axxis Jr, contemplates a return to America. He discusses the possibility of holding both the belts by the end of the month, and gives credit to his opponents in those matches before promising his very best effort. RATING: C vs, Axxis Jr vs. Davis Wayne Newton The scary thing is that Axxis Jr is still getting better and better. Davis and Axxis did a lovely job facing off here, and I find myself making a mental note to arrange a full-hour iron man match between the two at some point – having the skill, the stamina and the ability means I really have to at least consider it – but for the moment, here's the basics; this was an astonishingly good match, and Davis redresses the balance between the two main event groups by catching the Axxisault and rolling into a Newton's Cradle for the pin after twenty-one minutes. Great stuff. Davis Wayne Newton defeated Axxis Jr by pinfall RATING: A Well, there we go. Some notes on the forum that Buddy Garner may've been allowed too much time against Sammy, but his MMA background means even that didn't seem to bug people. Great show, great progress. The night got even better as I continued to poke around our forum; Eric Tyler's announced his retirement from the ring, which will definitely hinder his attempts to cause me problems. Also, Don left a message on my mobile telling me the docs say he's good to go. I couldn't be happier about that one. OVERALL: A

From www.ringoffire.com... A warm welcome to all those visiting from the South-West of America! We're proud to be performing in front of you for the first time, and if you're visiting to judge whether or not it's worth buying a ticket for the Grissom Auditorium this Thursday, here's what we have on offer for The British Invasion: Year 1. vs. The Stunners vs. East & West for the USPW Tag Team Championships in a Tidal Rules Match! Fans of Coastal Zone Championship Wrestling will remember the Stunners as tag champions for over a year, and while we call him Black Eagle rather than Plague we can assure you the team's only got better since. As well as their CZCW reign, this impressive duo have notched up three Ring of Fire tag team title runs and a medley of singles titles. Their rivals are barely less decorated, with Marc Speed also making a return to the Grissom. What many of you will not have seen yet is his partner, Nichiren Amagawa, a submission specialist with few rivals. Speed didn't have the best win-loss record in Coastal Zone and he's hoping to prove what he's learned elsewhere to his old fans as we revisit the Coastal Zone's traditional method of settling tag team questions in Tidal Rules! vs. Davis Wayne Newton vs. Steve Flash Another former Zoner returns as former CZCW tag-team champion Davis Wayne Newton has made a challenge to East Coast legend Steve Flash. Flash has a staggering ten title reigns to his name including three stints at the top of a company; Davis equals that in every way. We won't try to predict the winner, but we guarantee you'll love the match. vs. Dean Daniels vs. Mario Heroic in a Ladder Match for the USPW National Championship DaVE. WLW. SOTBPW. CZCW. MOSC. CPW. NYCW. Ring of Fire. These men have, between them, wrestled all around the world in a wide variety of styles. Now we bring them back to you after two years away, with a glittering prize on the line. Neither man will give anything less than his best. vs. Axxis Jr vs. Joss Thompson The Iron Luchador returns to an arena he's battled in many times. His opponent? A man who's held gold throughout the UK and wrestled across Canada and the United States. Their friends are involved in two major title matches tonight and the blood between the two factions runs deep. This promises to become very personal indeed. vs. Don Henderson vs. Joey Beauchamp for the ROF Championship OLLIE devotees will remember Joey as a strong Campeon de Trios alongside two talented young luchadors, but that's far from the only honour belonging to the four-time Ring of Fire champion who's won gold throughout Europe. He's looking to make it five championships tonight, and he's the man who unified the Ring of Fire belt with the original USPW championship. The man he beat on that night? Don Henderson, the only man to have held every belt in Ring of Fire, first-ever Commonwealth Cupwinner and a name synonymous with the company. Will history repeat itself or can Don Henderson defend the belt for the first time outside Europe? vs. Art Reed vs. Human Arsenal in a 30 Minute Iron Man Match for the USPW World Championship The reborn belt is on the line between a student of the Stones, a man who carried the beacon of excellence in wrestling through DaVE, and a former TCW mainstay who ranks as one of the greatest in the world. There will be no fluke victories in this match; whoever holds the gold aloft at the end will have conclusively proved their right to be called champion. We'll see you on Thursday - and get your tickets now; this event will not be broadcast. ROF: British Invasion Year 1 Thursday Week 2 February 2013 Grissom Auditorium (South West USA) 2000 in attendance Not Broadcast The show kicks off with music that'll be familiar to the Grissom Auditorium crowd – former CZCW tag champions Bulldozer Brandon Smith and Black Eagle, better known here as Plague, come out to the ring and get – well, considering we're off home ground and they've spent over a year as ROF exclusives – a pretty good reception. Brandon takes the microphone and promises that before the end of the night, the Stunners will be tag champs in America again. Eagle, meanwhile, nods in ****y but silent solidarity, and the crowd lap it up. Brandon goes on to say that this is an important honour, so we're following tidal booking stipulations “just like I got used to round here”. RATING: C vs. The Stunners vs. East & West for the USPW Tag Championship in a 2/3 falls match Tidal booking is, of course, two split singles falls followed, if need be, by a tag fall. It was invented by Coastal Zone booking legend William Peers, who deserves the credit for this match. This one opened with Eagle/Speed, which got the Coastal Zoners in the audience a little dismissive – Eagle was only ever a midcarder here, Speed an opener – until they opened up the throttle; both men are significantly better than they were while they were here and I encourage them to go for broke every time they get in the ring. Speed did his level best, but eventually fell as the Zone fans expected; next up, Brandon and Nichiren entered and things got nastier; wild power moves to shake submission holds which also, on occasion, shook the ring. In the end Brandon countered an armbar with a backdrop driver; Nichiren showed sheer balls by hanging onto the arm, but Brandon twisted around and endured the pain long enough for his rival's shoulders to be pinned to the mat. Without ever having to tag up, the Stunners are new USPW Tag Champions! The Stunners defeated East & West by two straight falls RATING: B- Davis Wayne Newton appeared next and cut a promo of his own, calling Steve Flash down to the ring so he could “wrestle an American legend on American soil”. Not well received – Davis wasn't pushed hard while he was with the Zone. RATING: D vs. Davis Wayne Newton vs. Steve Flash On the plus side, I kinda suspect that this contest will shut those Zoners up and give them second thoughts. Steve's still upping his game, though in deference to his age we kept the bout down to fifteen minutes. Good stuff nonetheless, though, with Steve getting the upper hand toward the end and when the Flash Bang was countered to an STF the crowd definitely popped for Davis. We'll get there. We may well do it in time for Steve to look at a National title run before he retires. Davis Wayne Newton defeated Steve Flash by submission RATING: B Dean Daniels vs. Mario Heroic in a Ladder Match for the USPW National Championship It was a very definite balancing act as two which of these two I gave the strap to; both deserve a title reign, but Mario is closer to being main event ready, particularly these days; as a consequence, Dean (barely) got the nod after Mario tried a Hero Attack while Dean was on the ladder; we reused a spot from the Barnes/Yasujiro title feud of 2008 as Dean swung to one side, leaving Mario to smash into the ladder, crash and burn, and allow Dean to scale the ladder and claim the belt. Good stuff overall. Dean Daniels defeated Mario Heroic when he reached the belt RATING: B- Following the match, Mario offered Dean his hand. I guess the fans just don't quite have the respect they need for Dean for this to go over yet. RATING: D vs. Axxis Jr vs. Joss Thompson It's my guess that the quality of this bout was limited by Joss' comparative lack of overness in the south west, and further limited by his jet lag throwing him off his game. It wasn't great stuff, though as far as the States are concerned we could do far worse live and still walk away with a better following than we started with. They did as much as they could but the crowd seldom got into it; the finish was nice, with Axxis setting up for a suplex before Thompson twisted out and landed the Clean Cutter. Joss Thompson defeated Axxis Jr by pinfall RATING: C+ Don Henderson came out next and we ran an interview in which we officially renamed the ROF Championship to the ROF World Championship on the occasion of its being defended in America for the first time. The crowd pretty much hated this, but the angle needed running, and it allows us to change the belt up for something better looking soon. Joey Beauchamp's name got at least a flicker of interest from his time with OLLIE, at least. RATING: E+ Following that, Davis, Joey, Joss and Brandon came out and cut a promo. Brandon had his newly-won belt over his shoulder and didn't say much, while the big three crowed over the fact they were three for three and promised to make it four for four – which would give two of them gold, with plenty more for the others to claim in good time... RATING: C vs. Don Henderson vs. Joey Beauchamp for the ROF World Championship Man alive... Don followed Davis' lead and got them into it, though. There was a point, briefly, where Don was one of the most famous wrestlers in Europe, which coupled with his UK following gave him an underground following in the States, and it looks like the word we wanted to get around has got around; they ate this up, particularly as Joey showcased just how far he's improved since OLLIE. The finish came after Joey had squirmed clear of the Scottish Deathlock, after Don had kicked out of the Breeze Block; when Joey went for the 450 Splash, wiped out, and got pinned following a moonsault from Don. Good stuff. Don Henderson defeated Joey Beauchamp by pinfall RATING: B vs. Art Reed vs. Human Arsenal for the USPW World Championship in a 30 Minute Iron Man Match More of the stipulation work to sell the importance of the new belts. Art looked good throughout this, but the score remained tied at zero between probably our two biggest names Stateside for most of the match. It took a Dread Lock reversed into a Trench Warfare to finally score a fall, thirty seconds from the bell ending the match – and Human Arsenal, after just over a year, finally claims gold in Ring of Fire to a sizable pop. Human Arsenal defeated Art Reed by submission RATING: B You know, even stacking the card like this, I'm stunned it went so well – but I'm glad. That should pique some interest when we come back. I wonder how long it'll take before we outgrow the Grissom...We drew only 3,000 less than SWF's PPV on the same night... OVERALL: B

I don't much like this kind of housekeeping, but it's necessary at the moment. As the website's noted and our fans have seen, Byron's been called up to the main roster, and with his arrival we sent Capitao Brasil Jr down to developmental, in the hope of bringing him up to the level I need even our lesser lights to function on. But that having happened, I've found the need to send some other folks to developmental. Notable name here is inaugural ROF Champion Stevie Stoat, who's been a major player in UKW these past few years. While Stoat's a talented man, he's also an egotist - we snatched him up after he left UKW, claiming he'd outgrown them, and in order to, hopefully, kill three birds with one stone he's joined the training crew at Cornerstone Pro Wrestling. Stone one is that Stoat's skills are very definitely worth passing on to our young intake there - some of whom look very promising. Stone two - after a few months with relatively low exposure, Stoat's arrogance should be reined in a little, his sense of his place in the industry hopefully in proportion, and we can use him as the talented midcarder I expect him to be without his complaining. And, most importantly, stone three - the Landlord has held CPW's top title since the company's inception, as the biggest name they have, and as it's our old Beacon Championship belt, used to spotlight developing talent, this infuriates me. Stevie is no spring chicken, but he's substantially better than the Landlord and sufficiently over I'd expect him to get the belt soon. Also now down in developmental following an unacceptable showing in the dark is a longstanding Ring of Fire tag team; Johnny Highspot and Jonni Lowlife, the Team-Up Marvels, are just not cutting the mustard in our own tag division, but they nonetheless have a great deal to pass on to others, and no other pairing in CPW can provide that degree of advice on the tag team life. While they're down to train others, I'm hoping that they'll pick up enough to be worth bringing back before too long. Thus far I've spoken only of the respected demoted. Another disastrous dark outing recently saw Ruud van Anger join this list; Ruud, however, has very little going for him at the level on which we work. While I'd love for his dedication and consistency to set an example and, for that matter, for his remarkable exercise regime to be adopted by others - the man has participated in the last four London Marathons and finished each time - Ruud doesn't have the skills to impart. At 31 he does, however, have a good shot at many more years' work ahead of him and I'm giving him this chance to pick up enough that those years can be with us. So there are the negatives. What positives can I provide to help with this situation? Four, really. My sights have been set on the Hinote Dojo of late - not at those raw youngsters hidden behind developmental contracts, but at the men working PPA deals to train them. The first is a youngster himself: Bussho Makiguchi is a young all-rounder who a booker can place total confidence in - he absolutely will not phone in any match. Physically able and reasonably adept in the air, on the ground, or working a stiff puro exchange, Bussho's crowning glory to date is his strong grasp of the fundamentals. Not quite ready to call a match himself yet, the 23-year-old is close to that level and more than ready to grasp another's lead and work with them well. Everything you'd expect from a man tipped for the top by PRIDE Koiso. The man called SUKI is a specialist where Makiguchi supplies a mix of styles. Technically he's strong, physically he's remarkable, he's almost as dependable as Bussho and has the kind of charisma that gets crowds on a man's side in spades. At twenty-six, SUKI was having trouble shedding the Young Lion tag - Makiguchi's made more progress in less time - and accordingly jumped at the chance to come to the company where Seiji Jimbo bypassed the Lion stage entirely. Another bright prospect. Our third signing, an INSPIRE stalwart who was recommended to me by Roy Edison after the two worked together in UEW - Wael Hossam is a remarkable figure and I jumped at the chance to ink a deal while his prior engagements could be broken. Wael's fundamentals are nearly on par with Steve Flash, his mat game equals that of Buddy Garner and his submissions are better than Don Henderson. To top it off he's got a stamina reserve to run for a long time - his only trouble is that he's lost in the air or punch for punch, and as with the others he's not too well known in the UK. At 36 years old, I expect him to still have quite some time to shine, so he'll get over in time to be very useful. Where Garner and Amagawa supply technical masterclasses to their tag rivals, I suspect Wael will improve the ground game of a great many of our solo workers. Curiously, the day after Wael inked our deal, in his last UEW match, he was given the tag straps alongside Inky the Squid Boy. Not sure I follow the logic, but there you go. Both charismatic workers who can go in the ring, the newly-christened Tiger Force have a good shot at getting over quickly and adding still more flare to a very strong division. Admittedly, for now, most of the new additions are looking at a period of losing their way up the ladder, but they've all got the ability to move past that very quickly. A good time to be a fan.

From www.ringoffire.com... The British Invasion has begun, and next on the horizon is the School of Tradition at the end of the month. And the charge begins on Sunday, when European Showcase returns to the Parc des Sports. On display: vs. KC Glenn vs. KAZ It's a big chance to make a name for himself facing Ring of Fire newcomer KAZ as he takes on TV Champ KC Glenn. We're on the wrong land mass to see Glenn risk his title, so his pride is the only thing at stake - but don't expect that to mean Glenn goes easy on his opponent. If KAZ makes his name Sunday, it'll be because he's earned it. vs. Buddy Garner & Roy Edison vs. Dos Phoenix Tactics collide as the MMA stars take on Mexico's most famous luchador duo in the heart of Europe. It's hard to say who has more worldwide respect, but this clash is not for that title; it's for position in the race to become Tag Champions in Ring of Fire, one of the highest honours for a tag team in the world. w/ vs. British Samurai vs. Billy Robinson for the ROF European TV Championship British Samurai has been a huge influence on British wrestling since he entered the sport. Billy Robinson has blossomed in the last seven years since unmasking from his time as the Parasite. Both are worthy champions, and neither man can really be said to have the advantage in this contest. At stake, a title Samurai has already resorted to unusual means to keep his name on... vs. w/ The Professionals vs. Pure Perfection The tag champions get a non-title contest against only a single team, the team they took the title from in October. Pure Perfection have been on a slide of late but have a clear, unobstructed shot at getting right back on target in a single contest. On the other hand, the champs have a chance to limit the field coming in to School of Tradition, making scouting much simpler. vs. Joey Beauchamp vs. UK Dragon Four-time champion and three-time champion, these two have produced multiple legendary matches together in the past. Since his November title loss, UK Dragon has seemed isolated and without direction; Joey will be aiming to send a message to longtime friend Davis Wayne Newton here. However, with that lack of direction cited by the Championship Committee as a key reason UK Dragon did not participate in The British Invasion, the Dragon has every motivation to score a decisive win here and provide reason to appear at Land of the Brave. vs. Art Reed & Axxis Jr vs. Human Arsenal & Mario Heroic All four of these men will be feeling the weight of their American battles here; Arsenal and Heroic came away with gold, while Art and Axxis left their matches on the losing end. The chance to regain their footing and prove their worth is surely worth a lot to them - particularly Art, as he's not far away from his next title match, and his loss on Thursday has already led to the question over whether he deserves it being noised around the locker room. Quick Prediction Key: KC Glenn vs. KAZ Buddy Garner & Roy Edison vs. Dos Phoenix British Samurai vs. Billy Robinson for the ROF European TV Championship The Professionals vs. Pure Perfection Joey Beauchamp vs. UK Dragon Art Reed & Axxis Jr vs. Human Arsenal & Mario Heroic

ROF: European Showcase Sunday Week 2 February 2013 Parc des Sports 3671 in attendance RATING: 0.58 The show began with Human Arsenal and Wanda Fish in the ring, the USPW World Championship belt over his shoulder. He talked about the match on Thursday, talked about the future of ROF in America, and told the fans watching at home that they could expect to see Ring of Fire become a worldwide concern soon, and that they were in at the point where that became a real possibility. He finished up with a comment about how even champions elsewhere wanted to come to Ring of Fire – a comment on UEW's somewhat odd decision the night before to put the tag straps on Wael Hossam, who's already inked a deal to join us – one of a number of recent acquisitions who're unlikely to play a major role in our broadcasts for a while. I don't think the crowd were too keen on the 'we're going places' tack of the promo, sadly. RATING: D+ vs. KC Glenn vs. KAZ A quickie tune-up for KAZ to get his face out there, an easy non-title win for KC. The verdict is that KAZ needs a bit more time working in the dark before we bring him back onto TV, but given that, this wasn't bad. KAZ just has no reaction in Europe yet. KC Glenn defeated KAZ by pinfall RATING: C vs. Buddy Garner & Roy Edison vs. Dos Phoenix Another match of the less-well-known. Roy's the only one here with any kind of European following, but this wasn't bad considering that. A little under ten minutes saw Buddy, despite not really being that into the match, demonstrate some developing knowledge of the basics while Phoenix II looks to have been encouraged by his opponents to try out a couple of new tricks in terms of chain wrestling. Phoenix III scored the pin over Buddy Garner and the pop was even halfway decent. One to return to. As the cameras came closer, we discovered that Davis and Joss were psyching Brandon and Eagle up, suggesting they try for a champions against champions contest to stake their claim to a title shot. They did the best they could here, and the result was still fairly watchable right up to the time limit, but I shouldn't have booked this. British Samurai drew with Billy Robinson when the time limit elapsed RATING: C vs. w/ The Professionals vs. Pure Perfection Thankfully, this enjoyable little non-title contest woke the crowd back up. Steve's taking the losses for his team more and more at the moment – he clearly feels his age weighing on him – but the Proton Lock got a good pop when it finished things and all four men received good reactions throughout. I'm definitely happy with this. The Professionals defeated Pure Perfection when Greg Gauge made Steve Flash submit RATING: B vs. Joey Beauchamp vs. UK Dragon Joey's appearance for this match prompted some discussion on commentary about his absence when Joss and Davis had been scheming backstage earlier, highlighting that rift within the faction again. They only had a quarter of an hour here, but this is a duo that has twice produced the match of the year worldwide, so it was still a spectacular showing. Joey seemed to be a little distracted, not focused on the match, as Optimus had directed him to be – and that meant that the Dragon Drop was able to hit early and out of nowhere, giving Dragon a quick win and a huge pop. UK Dragon defeated Joey Beauchamp by pinfall RATING: B+ vs. Art Reed & Axxis Jr vs. Human Arsenal & Mario Heroic Interesting stuff here. Mario and Art were the pairing for much of the early going and worked it as a hard-hitting brawl with occasional outbreaks of wrestling – drawing on a shared DaVE background, but if anything they're getting even better at it. When Axxis took over the pace shifted into a full-on lucha libre contest and by the time Mario was forced to tag out Axxis had all the momentum in the world, targeting Arsenal's shoulder from the off and nearly destroying it before flooring him with a headscissors roll and making the tag – which allowed Art to cinch in the Dread Lock and make Arsenal tap in retribution from Thursday. There's definite potential for rematches between these two... Art Reed & Axxis Jr defeated Human Arsenal & Mario Heroic when Art Reed made Human Arsenal submit RATING: B Not too shabby, as shows go. Without the Sammy/Billy issue this could have been great. OVERALL: B-
