I have no clue. I couldn't get it to happen on my ROF diary, save for Marcel Fromage. I'm not sure why it's sticking here, but I'm grateful.
The ROF was a great diary, but I think you suffered a bit because I'd started one first, got a readership and probably most people thought one ROF diary was enough to predict on! :o As for this diary, it's extremely well written, different from pretty much everything else on the boards in its unique approach to telling the story, and it's a blast seeing your version of how events panned out in the East Coast War. It's well set out and a nice, easy read. Not surprised at all that you're getting plenty of good feedback and predictions - it's well earned. Keep it up, PS!

And I felt that the program with Angry – sure, it was designed to get him over, he was the new guy, but I felt that it helped both of us. “And then we lost the tag belts, which was no big loss, and it looked like I was going to get a program with the Punisher that built on where the character had gone. “And it didn't actually go anywhere. Not that it fizzled out – sometimes that just happens. I mean, the Freddie Datsun program I worked over the North American belt here was meant to go longer than a month before Angry came in as the new challenger, but the fans weren't into it. “Sometimes you get a program that's just like treading water. You can usually just write that off as time wasted, because you move on to the next one and remind the fans why they were interested in you. “But the program with the Punisher died a death, and it died it pretty much offscreen. And I didn't get anything else in return. “I was pushing for... Something, I guess. Anything. I could talk even then, I could hold my own in the ring... I know I was better than some of the guys who were getting their pushes, but I guess out of the guys who were really getting driven forward, I was just the last pick...” He shakes his head abruptly. “I've tried to work it out for ages. What we did with Tom told me he got my character, you know? And then I just ended up in a position where I had nothing to do. “I wasn't the only one, either. Stuey didn't get much work for a while because he couldn't be at the shows, that made sense, but Sherlock not getting anything?” He throws his hands up in frustration. “Come on! He's tearing down the house in Japan better even than Pete was, he gets nothing? “And Nathan didn't get to work because Stuey was away. I think they were gearing up for something... something kind of like the old Texas Outlaws team in TWL, where when they had the belts any two of the three could defend them? I'd guess on it being a Nero idea, seeing that Nero had the book there back then. I think... I never got all the details, but I think Horatio had By Any Means Necessary planned way back when and there wasn't a good time to launch it. Truth be told, I thought we launched a little early when we did, much as I was glad to be working again... but I think losing Charlie and Mav panicked him a bit. “And God, I was just so happy to be working... But all that anger, all the things I said, I believed them. Nathan and Stuey were picked to be the backbone of the tag division and they're not even the big feud for the first year we did something with them? Come on! Bryan gets nothing? Come on! “So I talked about that, and Horatio let me. I talked about anything that hurt, and the only thing I steered clear of was admitting it was fake. It was exactly what I'd done near the end of the program with Angry, it was just about putting across a point of view that made sense. “I'd have talked about the fact I wasn't even supposed to get that, about the fact Todd was slotted for it and I was due to do God knows what, except... Well, goddamn, what the hell kind of ******* would I have to be to try and sell tickets outta that?”

I'd like to take a moment to say thanks to everyone for the recent compliments (and thanks to Kamchatka for the recent awesome logos). It means a lot to read them, and it means a lot to see the support this diary's getting.

It's a class of two puro-influenced workers and two men known for their speed and brawling as the tag teams lock up, arguably evenly split along style lines. Dog Fyte performs at full throttle throughout, demonstrating a wide variety of suplexes and hard-hitting shots, while the others move faster, striking and retreating. The Brothers in particular use fast tags and quick shifts, ensuring that eventually the Dog is on the back foot, effectively facing them both. The match shifts in both teams' favour at various points, but in the end the Brothers find a tipping point, with Adrian Dangerous sacrificing himself in a suicide plancha to keep the Dog from interfering as Richard gets the submission victory over Tornado with his father's Spinning Full Nelson. Dangerous Brothers defeated Nero's Disciples Rating: D Rich Money is in the interview room as the camera cuts away from the end of the match. “Chris,” he begins, “it's good to hear from you. It really is. It's great that you've found a new passion inside you. Maybe it'll help you one day reach my level – after all, only one of us has ever held gold in this company. “So good for you – honestly. And good to hear that you finally want to prove yourself against the best, the man with the solid gold guarantee, the only true moneymaker in this company. “I'm sure it's got nothing to do with wanting to draw the best match bonus just by being in the ring with me. “But this whole breaking my arm thing, Chris... It's just not something I'm really seeing for our match. “Any time I go out on pay-per-view it deserves to be a legendary event. So here's what I see for us: “Everyone knows that you are a famous submission wrestler. So what if there's a rumour out there that your opponents were paid to throw their matches? It's something everyone knows anyway. “So here's my challenge – beat me at a different game. I had a word with Mr Barber, I had a word with his bank manager, and I've made this match the true moneymaker it deserves to be. “At Hearts of Lions we're going pinfalls only, Chris.” w/ vs. w/ Eddie Chandler w/ Raven Roth vs. Joel Bryant w/ Herb Stately There's a word for this match; workmanlike. Neither Chandler nor Bryant have set the world afire in Philly Pro, though you'd be hard-pressed to argue that either of them have truly been given a chance. They each have a number of fans, they each have talent, and there's nothing about this match that isn't watchable; what it isn't is a match that will take either man to the next level. Chandler eludes the One Shot Drop, rolling back and out and setting up for the running powerslam, and all of a sudden there's a guest in the ring. Stately has the ref's attention and Charlie Thatcher nails Chandler square with the big boot, laying him out and leaving the ring, sticking close to ringside. Bryant, never a man not to take advantage, goes for the One Shot Drop again, landing it and picking up an easy three count. Joel Bryant defeated Eddie Chandler Rating: D “What the hell are you playing at?” Rich Money's voice erupts through the auditorium speakers even before he gets to the entrance ramp. Once he has, he stares down at Bryant and Chandler, celebrating in the ring. “You. Charlie. What the hell are you playing at?” “I thought he was Mav's replacement!” Charlie shouts back without the benefit of a microphone. It's an effective trick; Thatcher remains furious and threatening, but with less volume he doesn't get any advantage over Money out of it. “Bull****,” Money replies flatly. “He just happened to be working someone we have a problem with, Charlie. You do not pull this **** without my authority, understand? Last week you screwed up Mav's match, helped put him in goddamn hospital-” “THAT WASN'T MY FAULT!” Thatcher bellows. “So?” Money remains clearly unimpressed. “You don't act without my say so.” “That's what your mom said,” is the immediate response. “Oh, **** this,” Money sighs. “I'm done with you, Charlie. You need to learn that you can only get away with what you're worth. You're fired. If we catch you around here, we're going to chain you up and leave you for the Action Pack.” The Human Arsenal, accompanied by Emma Chase, makes his way to the ring first to a good reaction; he's becoming a real favourite of the New England fans. Azaria in particular speculates on who's going to face him... ...and then Breakin' The Law starts to play. PPPW Maximum Championship w/ vs. w/ Human Arsenal © w/ Emma Chase vs. Tommy Cornell w/ Wanda Fish The reaction is explosive right from the off. The former leader of the British Invasion has returned to Philly Pro to a tremendous reaction, as the hatred's still there. Cornell and Arsenal lock up and proceed to put on a flat-out wrestling clinic for seven minutes, at the end of which Cornell, clearly frustrated at being blocked at every turn by Arsenal, tips a signal to Wanda Fish. She hops up on the apron; Jay Fair moves to block her, and Cornell kicks Arsenal squarely where it counts. A Rough Ride follows; Fair slides in to cover... one, two... th-NO! Arsenal somehow kicks clear! The tone of the match instantly changes. No longer pure wrestling, this is high speed, high impact, high octane stuff as Cornell displays some of the puro style he's picked up over the past nine months while the Arsenal simply pulls out massive move after massive move. By the thirteenth minute, however, tempers are boiling over and the fight spills outside. Both Fish and Chase attempt to get to the action, cutting through the ring to do so; Chase spears Fish and there's a short catfight before Fish gets the better of her, pinning her to the canvas with a brutal hammerlock. Meanwhile the fight spills over the crowd barrier following a release German suplex by the Arsenal. With the crowd scattering, both men go to the steel chairs, drawing a double disqualification. Human Arsenal drew with Tommy Cornell Rating: C+ The Man Mountain comes through the crowd into the brawl. Arsenal is blindsided, assaulted, and as Chase tries to get her other client to back off, gets put through a row of chairs with a Cahill Crunch chokeslam-elbow drop. Cornell, remembering all too well how those put him out of action nine months ago, backs off as the show goes off the air, the closing image seeing Cahill glaring balefully at an unmoving Human Arsenal. -- A good solid show continues the Philly Pro tradition of being saved by big moments, big angles, big reveals, and stellar main events to garner a new record TV rating for the company. Preston Holt was champ – I know, that doesn't narrow it down,” he laughs, and you can hear Jerry Eisen laugh with him, “would've been the late seventies sometime. “I found out later the company was going through a bad time, it'd got the TV deal then lost a lot of its big names, and Preston's just beating everyone put in front of him easy, building himself at the expense of any short-termers they could bring in. Walleye Conklin? Bam, down. 'Outlaw' Blackheart Jones, aka Sam Strong? Bam, down. Gradually Preston turns heel over being unstoppable – a really, really well-executed turn, they were firing on all cylinders as far as booking went even if the talent couldn't life up to it. “Anyway – and this is about the earliest moment in wrestling I remember clearly – I was sitting in front of the set with my dad and Preston did this thing...” -- The image cross-cuts to old footage; an inset caption reads 1977 – Footage courtesy of California Pro Wrestling. Preston Holt has the microphone. “Whatever you do,” he says, “whatever you think, I will remain champion. Brick Fantana, you tried, you had your buddy Mike Kinsey ringside to tip the balance, and I still hold this belt, the symbol of being the very, very best wrestler in the business. “But I've beaten everyone who came for me. And I know that everyone's thinking – what about the other champions out there? The other men who claim to be the best. How do I prove that I truly am better than them? “Before the companies sprang up, before we had a recognised lineage of champions, there was no way to prove you were champion. Let me turn back the clock to that time, let me do what they did then. “This is the CPW Championship. I submit that to hold this means that I am the best wrestler in the world. And I make this pledge; if someone comes to me and arranges a match within the next ninety days, I will give them their chance at my title. Any champion out there who doesn't make it? Too bad. You're as good as admitting that you're not on the same level. That your belt means nothing.” A lone man appears at ringside, climbing into the ring. He probably walked in from the locker room, but in 1977, showing an entrance when it wasn't time for a match to begin was rare. The fans recognise him instantly – and so does the voice of California Pro Wrestling, Matt Cinder. “Crippler Ray Kingman? He hasn't been here since the Loser Leaves Town match with Whipper Spencer Marks! When was that... 1974?” “It seems like I picked the right time to pay a call on my old buddy Edmond Jackson,” the Crippler comments. “I'm not one of this company, Preston. I haven't been in years, and since the way I left I never thought I'd have a chance to get back. “But if I win – Man, if I win I have to be part of the crew again, don't I?” The crowd seem to support this idea. “And a champion. So thank you, Preston – for giving me a chance to come back to the best fans in the world.” -- Vibert smiles reminiscently. “The point, I guess, is that the first wrestling moment that stands out in my mind was a man making a big return. If there's anything that's bigger than stealing a major name from another company, it's when a champion comes back into the fold. “I saw Burning Hammer fall in the dirtsheets the same time everyone who reads them did. Not a big hit, just a confidence shaker – the same thing that happened to Richard Eisen not long before. The kind of hit that prevents people being willing to sign an exclusive deal with you. “And I knew they were never going to make that confidence back before Tommy's contract came up. I went for him the same time that Barber did; the difference was, Barber had TV. Barber had PPV. And as much as they'd milked the 'Too Good for TV' label, there was no way Tommy wasn't going to go to them if he got the offer. “Putting him up against the Arsenal was interesting. It made a statement; that the Maximum Championship was to be considered right up there with the Tri-State strap. And the fact neither man won? It opened up so many questions. Arsenal couldn't get the better of Brent, Brent had never got the better of Tommy when he'd been there the first time... So what's coming, you know?”
Good to see Tommy back and I really liked the Vibert interview, interlacing it with some old C-verse history.
So much of this diary's behind-the-scenes couldn't be done without the Cornellverse site and the C-Verse 75 mod. That clip was definitely one of those. They're fun, though, and they do lead to me figuring out a lot more about the C-Verse.

Not often I get the chance to make predictions, but catching you on the heels of a return like that? Wow... Danny Patterson vs. Fumihiro Ota w/ Floyd Goldworthy Because it's Ota, darn it! Coleman & Ferdinand vs. Ricky Dale Johnson & Steve Flash Established team over two main eventers - a close call, but Team AMN could do with a big win to build their momentum Pistol Pete Hall vs. Tom Gilmore w/ Kit Hatoyama Hall's just a monster, while Gilmore's a relative neophyte still. A feew years down the line, Gilmore would be the favourite, but as good as he is, Hall's better right now.

Danny Patterson vs. Fumihiro Ota w/ Floyd Goldworthy I mark for Danny Patterson. I mark for huge guys working as faces. And I think PPPW needs Patterson right now more than it needs Ota. I could be wrong here, but I am okay with that. Coleman & Ferdinand vs. Ricky Dale Johnson & Steve Flash It's going to happen for Coleman and Ferdinand some day. They are the real tag team here. And I don't know RDJ, but we all know Steve Flash has the professionalism to do the job. Pistol Pete Hall vs. Tom Gilmore w/ Kit Hatoyama I don't feel the momentum for Hall these days. That's all.
