The Official WWE / NXT Discussion Thread *May Contain Spoilers*

I will say right now that I knew Brock was going to beat Braun. As dominant as he's been and as over as he is with the fans, it wasn't his time yet. Expect 2018 to be his year.

On No Mercy: Good show overall, not quite on the level as GBAF or Elimination Chamber; but overall still a fun show with a lot of good matches.

MOTN: Jason Jordan vs The Miz and 66% of the Shield vs She-saro.

No Mercy:

Elias vs Crews - Elias has grown on me so I'm happy he won.

Miz vs Jordan - Good match. The sooner Jordan turnes heel the better.

Bray vs Balor - Solid match but Bray should have made Balor pass out via submission because of the rib damage instead of making Finn a superhero.

Rollins & Ambrose vs The Bar - MOTN, on par with most of this year's NXT Takeover tag matches. Cesaro was a trooper.

Women's Fatal Fiveway - Good match. Nia's performance proves she deserves a chance to improve like Strowman did instead of being trashed.

Cena vs Reigns - Solid match, taking into account the focus of the match was bragging rights not who's the better wrestler. Both are capable of better, though.

Neville vs Enzo - Fun match. Not keen on Enzo winning but if that's what it takes to keep 205 Live on the air, so be it. He already lost the title to Tozawa anyway.

Strowman vs Lesnar - OK match ruined by a weak finish. Strowman deserves to be Champ in the near future.

Verdict: Solid PPV overall with a good crowd and 1 oustanding match. The 2 big matches could have been better.

No Mercy:

Elias vs Crews - Solid match for a preshow or actually anywhere. Both guys worked hard, but the crowd was flat and took away from the action. I've watched Apollo since the indies, so I'm automatically invested him. It's hard to stay invested with the way his character is and how he's treated on the card. Dug Elias's finisher though.

Miz vs Jordan - Good match. Miz rules.

Bray vs Balor - Finn's gear was honestly the best part of the match. I'm sick of seeing them face off. Despite both being impeccable performers, both aren't really treated as serious threats to anyone.

Rollins & Ambrose vs The Bar - MOTN by a long shot. Sheamus has grown on me so much since teaming with Cesaro. I still don't really care about his character, but at least Cesaro brings out Sheamus's better qualities and hides his annoying qualities. Plus, "We are da' bar" is one of the better catchphrases in recent memory.

Women's Fatal Fiveway - I expected Alex to win, but Nia impressed me a shit ton. If only they could find gear that matches her current character. She's a bad ass and her gear just doesn't match.

Cena vs Reigns - Giant disappointment. Only memorable bits of the match were Cena over selling for Roman in the beginning ala HBK and Hogan and Cena's post match sad/happy face.

Neville vs Enzo - Fun match. I love how all the dirt sheets talk about Enzo being in the dog house and having a crap ton of heat, but he's one of the few guys who gets a hefty amount of mic time every show.

Strowman vs Lesnar - Meh. Lesnar just needs to go away. Take an extended break that never ends.

Verdict: Better than I expected for the undercard and worse than I expected for the two main events.

Yet another loss for Bray, but I assume people realize his character is not about getting the win, but rather getting into the head of his opponent and unphase them. That being said, he should win SOME matches less he be called a "jobber". But letting him beat up locals won't help anything, so it's kind of a weird situation.

Great job by Nia and Cesaro. Both matches were constructed well. I got distracted too much with work during the Reigns match but it looked bearable at least. Cena overselling never becomes old. It's good Enzo is luring some people to 205 live, where there's enough time for him to showcase his mic skills. He won't lure me over, though.

Main event was good. It was telling a story but it abruptly ended with an F5 out of nowhere. Could be better though.

Solid PPV.

Missed opportunity with Cena/Reigns in my opinion. But understand where they are going with it if Reigns will win at WM.

Enjoyed most matches.

Jordan is meh.

Can't get into Bray.

Glad Enzo won. Neville made for a good match. Hopefully they don't hotshot the title.

Lesnar - same as Reigns considering the paththey have set.

Not watching the main shows since the initial brand split....I can't fathom how bad they screwed up Jason Jordan after reading your guy's comments. I loved him in Alpha but I always seen Gable as the star between the two. Jordan was a good clean the ring guy but it was always a better decision to let Gable do the talking.

Also I've been hearing they have been utterly burying Bailey...

Why? I don't get why this would be a good move? I knew if there was one call up they would screw up she was the one they would.

There were a couple of points last night where I thought she would go after Alexa for the drubbing at Extreme Rules. Why work with Sasha and not try to get the upperhand? Jordan isn't the issue - the storyline isn't believable. That's not something that suits him.

Just makes you think he might want to start rethinking his tactics, if anything.

Surely the end game of his psychological tactics is to help him win? Or is his character one that is happy to constantly lose as long as he perturbed his opponent a little in the buildup?

Wyatt is one in a long list of characters with potential that the WWE have got completely wrong.

It makes sense from a company perspective (helping to build stars), but that can't be his intention or that of any heel. One would assume he's after gold like everyone else, but he's not one to ask for title shots (I MEAN MATCHES - sorry Vince!). And only masochists like to get beat up. Makes one wonder...

So they turned Enzo's real stank into a work and pushed it hard on Raw and it totally worked! Keeping the strap on him awhile could be gold. I just wonder what happens to Neville when he can't reclaim his crown. I'd love to see him on Smackdown.

Also good to see a fun 1-on-1 feud between Bliss and Mickie before Nia inevitably wins the title and Asuka starts wrecking everyone. Shame Sasha can't turn heel on Bayley until after the 4HW angle is over.

At first I was wondering why they had Enzo in the last segment and not end it with the Miztourage's Shield mock but then remembered they ended with Miz last week and it would have just been too repetitive and good to see the Cruiserweights get the last segment of the night. Maybe it's a sign of good things to come for the division.

Unless they plan on giving Bray Wyatt something better to do than to job to Balor in every match and actually do something memorable with it, why drag the feud on any longer. It's been going on since the shakeup.

May be in the minority here but Im on board with Reigns being the guy. Hopefully we'll continue to see a more human Reigns that gets beat up and actually stays down, wins big matches but loses little ones that put other guys over, basically everything that drove us crazy about Cena and even Hogan with their egos and be "the guy" that doesnt use backstage pull to massage his own ego. When he first broke from the Shield he was gettin bad but everyone deserves a smack in the face and hopefully he realizes it while it's still early but it took Cena forever to realize it aint just the Cena show.

Apparently they are teasing a reveal of sister Abigail. I wonder who they'll bring up. I can see Athena fulfulling the role but I don't see her fully connecting with Wyatt. I would mark out completely if it turns out to be the crazy girl from the SAN1TY stable. She could completely kill it on RAW and could be just what Wyatt needs to refresh his gimmick. Performance-wise she's ready to be brought up and fills the crazy role well.

Good time to start watching NXT again if you haven't for a while. Roddy vs McIntyre Title match was great. More intensity than Cena/Reigns and Lesnar/Strowman combined and then some. The NXT bookers should be scripting the big PPV matches for the main roster. There was a surprise debut, Kairi Sane's first NXT match and the fun Aleister Black vs Velveteen Dream feud continued.

The build to NXT Takeover: Wargames has begun! Yes, WWE were forced to announce it because it got leaked. Just don't go searching for more info because there are lots of Wargames Match Card spoilers from the tapings.
