The comments on Twitter about the Fabulous Moolah Battle Royale is about what you'd expect. The worst part is WWE having the women say nice things about her on camera. They couldn't have used Mae Young or Chyna instead???

https://twitter.com/WWE/status/973375209116807168?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fs9e.github.io%2Fiframe%2Ftwitter.min.html%23973375209116807168

Context:

http://www.complex.com/sports/2016/07/wwe-scandals/fabulous-moolah

The Fabulous Moolah is one of the most celebrated female wrestlers of all time, and is touted by WWE as their greatest champion, having held the women’s title for longer than anyone else in the company’s history. She was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 1995. In her latter days with WWE, she was well-known for doing comedy bits with fellow WWE Hall of Famer Mae Young.

Moolah and her husband, Buddy Lee, ran a school for female wrestlers decades ago, and anecdotal accounts tell a dark story. For a time, Moolah took a black female wrestler named Sweet Georgia Brown under her wing, and in an article written for the Free Times, Brown’s children aired out a ton of dirty laundry. Among the allegations: Brown was raped and drugged on the road in an effort to control her. The article heavily implied that Moolah stiffed Brown’s family on their mother’s earnings. Moolah, in her defense, denied any wrongdoing. But former WWE wrestler and valet Luna Vachon corroborated that Moolah was a shady person. According to Vachon, when Vachon was sixteen years old, Moolah sent her to take pictures for an older male cardiologist. They were non-nude pictures, but still, the incident comes off as shady to say the least.

I’m honestly surprised they went with Moolah. I thought they had had already written her out of history, what with the Mae Young Classic being a thing. Don’t call it a memorial and you can get away with all sorts legends since women’s wrestling isn’t that old. Alundra Blayze and Trish come immediately to mind.

Like you said, par for the course.

They have an award named after the Warrior, why are people even outraged by this at all? This is par for the course, you're wasting your energy if you're genuinely mad about this.

The pimping thing don't really bother me I mean how do you think the Godfather came up with his gimmick lol...Honestly the blurred line between prostitution and porn is just whether a camera is turned on. I don't see the taboo behind that....but the other things is a bit more questionable.

I've seen some shady practices by trainers but taking 25% of all your future bookings. That is a bit insane to me....Also getting them hooked on drugs to exploit them is a bit harsh.

(Is it a bad thing I had to look up why people were outraged about this? I somehow missed all these things she had done lol)

Saying something is par for the he course in no way makes it ok. That’s just asinine.

Moolah by all counts was a cancer to women’s wrestlers. They should have named it after a female that actually empowered young women. Like Wendi Richter, Madusa, Sherri, or even Lita or Trish.

You don't see them attaching Chris Benoit's name to the MITB ladder matches but that's only because there's proof of his crime. Moolah was never charged with anything. For someone who seems to put stock in social media, Vince and Co. sure are shortsighted sometimes. They deserve the backlash.

Anyway, the ending of Smackdown, 205 Live and NXT are well worth watching this week. Cedric vs Roddy and Dunne vs Cole were PPV quality matches.

I don't even think proof has anything to do with it. There was ample proof of Warrior being racist, homophobic and just an all around terrible person, ON HIS OWN OFFICIAL WEBSITE and in his own words, no less. That didn't stop them from naming an award after him. All they care about is whether or not something will get picked up on by the mainstream media and make them look bad. Obviously everyone knows about the Benoit thing, and the Hogan sex tape/racist speech was a pretty mainstream story too. But Warrior's general awfulness and Moolah's sex trafficking haven't been picked up on like that, so they don't care.

Hi dudes, I've got WWE network at the moment and I watched something called Bret vs Shawn: The Rivalry or something like that. It was brillant a two hour sit down interview with them and Jim Ross.

Is there anything on the network to touch that? And what about more stuff like the Monday Night War doc? I'm not that fussed about that doc, seen it or similar stuff before but I don't see where it is on the network, am I missing a hidden documentary section?

Generally that stuff is found under the Originals section. As far as quality goes, I've enjoyed the WWE 24 series and some of the Beyond the Ring stuff, particularly Paul Heyman's.

The Heyman one is awesome. WWE Rivalries is a good one too, covers both current and old school rivalries.

Thanks, will investigate.

I'll tell you what I didn't like, it was a Wrestlemania's greatest matches things, it was super kayfabe and I watched about 10 minutes of the Hogan vs Rock episode and had to give up because it was too cheesy for my taste.

My favourite series on the Network was the Rivalries...

The episodes with Dusty vs Flair and Flair vs Steamboat are exceptional.

It was an awesome series and I'm still frustrated, over 2 years later, that they've not made any new ones.

Aside from that, I'll always go back and watch the Monday Night Wars series. Not got tired of that yet.
